Tony's is spot on every time. We ordered a large number of pizzas today for a party. Even though their delivery guy wasn't working today they had our order hot and ready as soon as we got there. They even threw in a few drinks for free. The pizza was hot and delicious. We had cheese, pepperoni, mystic and the white broccoli pizza. Everyone at our party loved them. We will definitely order from them again.

Tony's was recommended to us by family who live in the area so we stopped in for a quick lunch. The place was hopping the whole time we were there. It is situated on the inside of a 3-4 store front. Parking was available in front of the store but I believe there is also parking behind and over to the side in front of some other stores. When you walk in, you'll probably run right into the line of customers either waiting for an order or about to give an order because the cash register is right up front. Standing room is tight there. Off to the right are a line of tables that go to the back of the store. In any event, the line moves quickly and the orders are worked on immediately. The time from ordering to getting our food was about 10 minutes. We shared a italian sausage sub, fries and cokes. The coke machine is right up front to the left. The sub was very good, hot and crispy, with just enough sauce to make it a finger licking event. The fries were great. The owner has a crew of workers behind the counter and lets them know in italian if they're missing something.

I love love love Tony's, I can't rave about it enough. I've been coming here for sooo long and it's always consistently amazing!! BEST pizza around without a doubt. I have never once got something here and was disappointed. Also have ALWAYS had great service. Some of my favorites are their plain cheese pizza, buffalo chicken pizza, penne alla vodka, chicken caesar wrap and of course their tiramisu. For years my family would get their stuffed pizza with extra tomato sauce and Andy would always joke "What do you guys drink this stuff?!" He's always so friendly and there to fix if there's ever a problem. Five stars! I will be here again... probably next week.

Excellent food, excellent value. Our family loves Tony's. the pizza, the dinner plates, the appetizers are always excellent. The menu has all the standards of an Italian restaurant, yet they are all much better than standard. When eating in you can choose from the menu or the pizza slices, pepperoni rolls on display. The place is tiny, 6-7 tables, but the take out line is always busy. Tony has at least 6 people working in his tiny kitchen, which is fun to watch. The piles of pizza boxes grow shorter and are replenished. Looks like many people order more than pizzas for take out though we never do.

When saw the reviews for this place I had to try it out. Every time I ordered take out. The pizza is delicious the food is always good. The only reason I gave it three stars is because I got sick after eating here once and never returned. I had a salad and pizza not sure which gave me food poisoning. The people there are nice and we made sure to let them know. I do recommend it because it might have been a one time thing.

Only giving Tony's 2 stars....I've eaten here many times both dine in and take out and I find the food allright but it doesn't knock my socks off. The pizza is decent, not great. The tomato pie is disgraceful- bland- stale crust. The subs/steaks are about on par with average. The calamari is one bright spot- it was pretty good. The lobster ravioli had no lobster meat in it, just an over-abundance of the pre-packaged frozen mini shrimp. The chicken marsala was really dry and tasteless. And I noticed that the kitchen cooks and food prep people were not wearing hats or hair nets, nor were they wearing any cooks attire. They were all in street clothes. WTF? Sorry I don't want any hair in my food!! Tony's needs to get it together. They also need to expand that place, it is wayyyy too small. But with established businesses on either side of them it'll probably never happen.

Hands down the best pizza in Newark. The only pizza place that rivals it is its sister restaurant, Amalfi's. The cannoli are delicious, too.

Pizza Fridays has been a weekly tradition with my fiancé and I. We have already been frequenting to Tonys with our families for many years and now we made it our own tradition. There has never been one time that Tonys has let us down! Andrea has always been so friendly and he does a great job acknowledging his regulars. My fiancé recently got transferred with his job to Connecticut. We have had one heck of a time finding a pizza place that could even slightly compare to Tonys. Every time we come home we ALWAYS make a stop at Tonys. From their pizza to their pasta to their Antipasto salad, even their tomato pie...it never ever fails. This is the perfect mom and pop feel and the food never disappoints. Love this place and I recommend everyone trying it!

This was our first visit. We are not from the area but had to do some shopping in the area so I poked around on yelp looking for some good food. We picked Tonys because we had lots of stuff to do other than food so we wanted a cheap place that was fast but not a wasted meal (Quiznos, McDonalds, etc) This place was the perfect pit stop for some out of town shoppers to fuel up without losing time or money. On top of the speed and affordability the server was awesome, she comped us a cannoli since we were out of town! Not only was the service great but the food was very good as well. I am not a New York or New Jersey pizza snob so I can't tell you how it compares to Those places but I have had pizza from all over Italy and the plain slice would have fit right in. I will be returning when ever I have the chance!

Really good Pizza, as close to NY style as you can get around here......I've only done take out, so cant speak for the table service..............

I've had just about everything on the menu but their pizza is so legit. I absolutely can't get enough of the white pizza and the broccoli pizza as well. I've never had anything on the menu that I didn't like. I usually order my stuff for pickup but I've eaten there a handful of times. It's a small place but it fits maybe 30 people tops? Anywho, great place to eat and tastes authentic. Would give it 5 stars but the customer service is sometimes lacking. I've had my order screwed up a few times or they've over charged me as well.

Judging it for what it is - a little pizza joint in a strip mall - Tony's has its merits! Starting with Tony, or at least the guy I'm assuming is Tony, who looks, acts and sounds exactly like the owner of a little Italian shop should. Also, I hear the pizza's awesome. I didn't order any because frankly it didn't look so hot, but looks can be deceiving, so maybe you should go with the majority and give it a try. The biggest upside is the overall family-pizza-joint vibe ( yelp.com/biz_photos/N8NB… ) with the plasticky plaid tablecloths, paper menus, plastic-wrapped silverware ( yelp.com/biz_photos/N8NB… ), high school girls as servers, and the aforementioned Tony. I was hoping the food would be amazing just for the satisfying juxtaposition it would make, but unfortunately it wasn't really my cup of tea. It was more like a cup of McFlurry, in that food-wise this place reminded me of McDonald's: each bite makes you crave another, but not because it's really good - more because it's addictively bad. Now, I am known to succumb to the occasional McDouble, so I'm not totally writing this place off, but I'll start with the biggest losers first: The spinach & mushroom ravioli looked like a huge plate of gravy ( yelp.com/biz_photos/N8NB… ), and my hubs had to poke around to find the raviolis. Any mushroomy goodness that might have been hiding inside the ravs were totally overwhelmed by alfredo sauce. My Italian wedding soup looked good but was bizarrely sweet ( yelp.com/biz_photos/N8NB… ). I tried adding some salt and pepper to counteract the sweetness, but it didn't have much of an impact and I couldn't get past the weird flavor. No one else at the table wanted more than a bite either, so it went half eaten. On to the winners: The table favorite was the penne in vodka cream sauce ( yelp.com/biz_photos/N8NB… ). This was my McDouble. It was also everyone else's, and there was still so much of it that more than half went home in a doggy bag. It wasn't an impressive dish by any means, just a pile of pasta with a pretty one-note sauce over it, but it was definitely hard to stop eating it. The bread basket they bring to start includes what I've learned is called "tomato pie," thick pizza dough slathered with pizza sauce, all of it cold. I found this pretty gross, yet ate a large slice of it. Sigh. Anyhow, other eaters were relatively enthusiastic about the tomato pie and wished we'd gotten more of it. ( yelp.com/biz_photos/N8NB… ) I have a feeling I'll end up back here, but mostly because there's not a whole lot to choose from in this area, and everybody likes an excuse to eat McDoubles.

I'm giving them 5 stars because it is extremely hard, if not impossible, to find an authentic New York-style pizza in Delaware, and Tony's is definitely the closest thing to it. Granted, it's still no New York pizza, but let's face it, this is Delaware. My college friend (a New Yorker) told me this was the best pizza in Delaware. I kind of laughed. I was like, "there's no real pizza down here." I was pleasantly disproved! Of course, I had to test it out the only way you test out a pizza place -- by getting a plain slice. Tony almost got it down pat (but I blame the difference in the water for it not being perfect). It was a perfect combination of sauce and cheese. The crust was on point, and it dripped with that greasy deliciousness that reminded me of back home :) I know a lot of people swear by Margherita's on Main St., but Margherita's has nothing on this place. Take the 2 or so mile trip up Paper Mill to go to Tony's. It is definitely worth it.

I have been a customer here since it first opened, and it is just as great today as it was then. Tony's provides amazing Italian food for a great price. Large portions of excellent food. They are almost always busy and crowded due to their relatively small size, but they never fail to provide excellent customer service that makes you feel like part of the family. Tony's is a great member of the Newark community. Fast, friendly service, amazing food!

Ordered a pizza from here one evening when I hadn't eaten all day and was starving. Waited 10 mins at the shop to find out they gave my pizza to another customer. Offer me her crappy pizza which I would not take. Ended up waiting another 20 mins as I had already paid. They offered no refund or extras to make up for the mistake. Heard one of the men making pizza say he didn't care. Horrible customer service. I can also say the pizza is decent but as a nyer that move here 6 months ago it is not comparable. It's just better then the other crap around. Now going to make from home as I do a better job and it don't have to deal with incompetent employees.

I work across the street, and many times on lunch, I just don't want what I've brought with me that day, and I know I will always be happy with what I've ordered from Tony's. I love the atmosphere, and the owners and employees are always very nice and quick. I have tried everything from their plain cheese and specialty pizzas, to their penne pasta a la vodka or garlic oil spaghetti (which is AMAZING, btw), to my "I'm pregnant, and need low-carb stuff!" Flacco wrap. I have never had a bad item there, and I doubt I ever will.

After hearing about this place from a friend a few months ago (and seeing the reviews on here)I decided to check it out for dinner tonight. It is smaller than I thought it would be. You walk in and the counter is right there with tables along the right wall. I asked the woman behind the counter what was good because it was my first time there. She was nice and suggested some popular items. I ordered the Penne Ala Vodka and some calamari. I've never had Penne Ala Vodka before so I have nothing to compare it to but it was really good. Although I was a little disappointed with the calamari, only because there were just the bodies, no tentacles but they were lightly fried and came with a half a lemon and some dipping sauce. When the woman behind the counter told me my order was ready, I went to pay and I noticed the order that she had on the counter had 2 cannolis on top and I told her we didn't order them. And she told me they were complimentary because it was my first time there. How nice.

Must try: lasagna. It's not done in the typical fashion and it's fantastic. Don't come here for ambience, but for cheap, good, Italian food in Newark, DE this is it.

Someone told me this was the best pizza in Delaware and I think I can get behind that statement. It's surely one of the best restaurants in a strip mall in Delaware, and the only one I've been to with a bunch of Italians yelling at each other in staccato rhythm across the (small) space. Bare bones: pizzas with a variety of very fresh, non-canned ingredients (broccoli, peppers, onions, ricotta, tomatoes, etc), piping hot, super filling and delicious. Fantastic tomato pie and ciabatta served while you wait. All quite cheap. No booze is the only drawback. Not really that far from Main St, but a world away...

Some of the best pizza you'll find in Delaware. Great calzones, stromboli's, and pasta dishes. Friendly family run restaurant, but limited seating at this location. Our favorite pizza place!

Tony's is tremendous. Tons of food (one entree feeds two) and great staff - don't be surprised if you're offered a little snack if you're waiting to pick up an order. The ambiance leaves a bit to be desired, but it's cozy and -fun. The food is your typical Italian-American classics so don't expect out of the box haute cuisine. It's just simple food done right. Don't be fooled by the humble setting - this place is great.

Went to the newest Tony's location for lunch with a coworker. This location isnt on yelp but I am pretty sure it's the same owners. We called ahead and placed our orders over the phone. They brought our entrees out right away which was great since we were on our lunch break. I really have a hard time going to Tony's and not getting Grandma pizza. But since we were sitting down I decided to try something different. I got the lasagna. Fantastic! It could use a little more sauce but other than that top notch. It was 2 huge slices with salad and bread for 12.95. I am a huge eater and still had to take half home! They brought me a soup container of sauce to go with my leftovers! My friend had the calamari with a garlic olive oil sauce. He enjoyed his as well. The sauce was so good on his we were dunking our bread it it. Tony's never disappoints and the staff is extra friendly.

This is my favorite kind of eating experience. I had about 20 minutes to grab a quick bite and I was in the right place at the right time. The staff here is super friendly. You get the full sit down treatment even if you are getting a quick reheated slice. By the way you won't need more than one. These slices are big and heavy on the toppings. You also get free garlic bread and tomato pie while you wait. The dining area is not very big, not a lot of seating (think NYC) but I could tell it had happy regulars. This place bustled at dinner time. There are a ton of slices ready to go in a lot of different varieties and you can tell it's fresh. Very reasonable pricing too, two of us ate for $10.00 and we took food home. I am looking forward to going back and trying the rest of the menu. A definite recommend.

Just moved here from NYC. My first stop? Pizza of course. Judging from all the positive reviews on yelp and them advertising as NYC style pizza, I decided to give this a try. Ordered 2 plain slices and 2 pepperoni for my brother. While we were waiting , my brother went to the bathroom. I saw him come right back out because he said it was filthy disgusting without any soap. Ok then. Waited about 5 minutes. Then 10. I see a customer walk in, order 2 slices, and walk right out. Ok then. 15 minutes later, I go up to the counter trying to figure out what is going on. The waitress apologizes. Ok, no big deal. They actually throw in an extra slice and cannolis for the trouble. Love it! We get home and dig in. This is not in any way shape or form NYC quality. Tasted like ketchup on a wet dish rag. Sauce was bland. Crust was almost inedible. Got through a slice and dumped the rest. I don't get all the quality ratings for the pizza but this is one of the worst I've ever had. 2 stars for the apology and freebies thrown in, 0 for the pizza.
