Amazing! From hibachi to homemade udon noodles! This place is a bombshell of a Japanese restaurant. I've been going here since they opened their doors. The chef is dedicated and very professional, knows his customers by name. He comes in 7 days a week and adores his job. For amazing sushi at a low price, come here and be amazed at what you get!

I ordered delivery for a variety of rolls, including "red lover," "White Tuna with cucumber avocado hand roll, and it tasted like what you would expect from supermarket sushi. The fish was second-rate, everything was gooey, and the edamame was boiled about 10 minutes too long. Hey guys, don't you know that edamame comes already cooked in freezer bags and it just needs 90 seconds to heat up? I'm a sushi fan and this place was very disappointing.

Yeah, I'm ranting and raving on this one. But there is nothing "express" about Tokyo Express. It took 25 minutes for them to complete two simple rolls. At least 4 other patrons came in after us and all of them got their orders completed before us. Maybe they called ahead but at the very least acknowledge the person that's waiting in front of the cashier stand for over 10 minutes. After 15 minutes, at least offer a complimentary drink or an apology. For Pete's Sake after 20 minutes, this wasn't a take out restaurant anymore. I could have ordered a pizza in this time period. I really wanted to demand a refund but they had a sign that said, "no refunds once the sushi is made." So I held my tongue. Yeah, I feel bad for the one guy frantically making sushi rolls but he should have asked for some help from the kitchen. And maybe they treat repeat, local customers better because that's clearly who got served first. If you're out of town. AVOID. Oh. And it's not as cheap as everybody thinks it is. [Original Visit: November 2014. If I wasn't so livid, maybe I'll consider 3 Stars]

I'd go here again if there wasn't other options. We ordered delivery...the staff was friendly and punctual. The value was good. Ordered crab Rangoon and the sesame chicken combo. Crab Rangoon was excellent! Combo, not so much...the egg roll was good but hard like it sat out under a fast food light for too long, the sesame chicken was hard and the plastic fork would barely penetrate it and finally the "fried rice" had just a few specks of vegetables throughout.

Very disappointing. Order food inside and it was delivered in Styrofoam and plastic ware. Sushi barely marginal. I believe the good reviews were written by staff.

There are many hibachi steakhouses and sushi restaurants within a few miles of my house, many of which contain the word "express" in their names. Last night I decided to try one of them, having not ventured out for Japanese food since I've lived in Delaware. I selected Tokyo Express for having a couple more stars on Yelp than the next closest establishment, and I was disappointed. I read several reviews off this page, good and bad, before I went. The restaurant is part of a strip mall, like many Japanese restaurants in New Castle County, and inside there are some tables and a counter to order at. While I can't complain about the affordability of my hibachi filet and cucumber roll ($11 all told), I can complain about other things. The decorations in the restaurant are tacky. It appeared that the owners didn't want to put too much effort into them, just in case the place gets shut down and they have to take it all off the walls. The floor was somewhat dirty, as were some of the tabletops, but my guest and I pulled up a table and waited for the food. The sushi roll was underwhelming. The cucumber was cut into thin strips and rolled in rice, as is custom, but it tasted dry and lacked flavor. It was a normal eight-piece sliced roll, and though not particularly exciting, it wasn't bad either. The hibachi filet was more displeasing. The fried rice was old and clumped together, making for chewy mouthfuls that were hard to swallow. The fried vegetables weren't amazing, with onions undercooked and carrots overcooked. The steak, cubed and grilled, was slightly overcooked, although the portion was fine. I ate most of the meal and took the rest home in the styrofoam box it was served in, but looking at the food later that night I decided just to throw away the rest. While I am sure that this restaurant is good for some people and some occasions, it was not great to sit down and eat at. We were the only customers in the restaurant the entire time we were eating. The staff seemed detached if not sullen, and wouldn't make eye contact with me. They deliver, so if you want mediocre food delivered to your door, this is the place to go. As for me, I'll be eating at a different hibachi grill from now on.

I love this place! The staff is awesome and the food is great. Sushi is fresh. Teriyaki and hibachi are tasty.

I went here over the weekend by a recommendation of my sister-in-law. She said they get take out from here for lunch. I tried the Frank's roll, Crunchy Spicy Tuna roll & a Spring roll. I will say that I was pleasantly surprised by how good everything was. It's hard to compare take out sushi to a sit down sushi meal but everything was good. The Spring roll was on the smaller side but fresh with a good amount of shrimp. Both of the Sushi rolls were a little smaller then I am used to but had really good flavor and very fresh. I will definitely be going back when I get a sushi craving. I was impressed with the flavor and quality of everything I got for $12.25. There are few other sushi rolls that I would like to try. Plus, I would like to try some of their Hibachi & Teriyaki dishes. Definitely a great place for take out sushi.

Picked up some sushi late after work on a Wed. Ordered steamed pork dumplings, 2 crunchy spicy tuna rolls, 1 yellow tail roll, a salmon roll and Alaska roll. Oh and a regular tuna roll. Dumplings were okay. Better than a lot of Japanese restaurants but not as good as Chinese dumplings. The crunch spicy tuna roll was one of the best ever!! It was my favorite out of the bunch. They did give us 2 salmon rolls instead of a salmon and Alaska. Would have liked to have gotten the correct rolls. The tuna roll was also really good. Salmon roll was least favorite but only since I don't care for avacado or salmon so not a good judge. The bf said it was pretty good. We will be back for sure. Next on the list is the udon noodles for sure!

This is by far the best sushi I ever had! The service is fast and the staff is friendly. The sushi is always fresh and for amazing prices. I recommend this to anyone and everyone!

What a find! We were looking for a place that delivered and are glad we chose this one. The rolls were cheap and delicious. I recommend the Snow White Roll, the Pink Lady was good too. We've tried the other sushi places in the UD area and they are over priced, give small portions, or don't deliver. We'll definitely come back.

this place is cheap and delicious! if you're looking for a place that's easy on the wallet and has good sushi...try this place. I'm in town for a 1 month externship and immediately was in search for a nearby sushi place that's cheap, and this place fits the bill. They have an extensive menu w/ rice bowls, teriyaki, appetizers, and sushi of course. I only eat cooked sushi, so I had the shrimp mango roll and the shrimp tempura roll, all for $9.25! 8 pieces/roll. It was fresh and taste great. Next time, I'm going to try their appetizers...they have crab rangoon 10 pieces/$3.85 and fried calamri! They do have adequate space to eat there, blan decor, seems like a more take-out/delivery kind of place. Place is clean and there's plenty of free parking in the complex. I took away 1 star b/c they didn't place that faux grass plastic thing to separate the wasabi and ginger from the sushi, which sucks b/c after driving around, the wasabi shifted in the box container was on my sushi...and i hate wasabi! I guess next time i'll just ask for no wasabi/ginger.

Are you looking for good AND cheap food with out strings attached? Look no further, Tokyo Express will fill your stomach with out exploding out your back end. The delivery service is excellent and quick. Ordering over the phone is a breeze and they save your contact info to make delivery a bit easier. They will never leave you waiting. Their food is great relative to the restaurant type. If you are expecting a NY style hibachi you are being misled by the reviews. The food is delicious relative to the cost and the food is technically take-out. The portions are huge and half the cost of what it would cost at a sit down hibachi establishment. You can easily feed your self two meals for the price of one. The hibachi enormous, saucy, meaty, and comes with a side of rice and vegetables. Their sushi selection is plenty and good, I have had better sushi, but again for the price and convenience this is great. Experienced foodies of hibachi wil be pleased, it will meet your expectations but wont exceed them. If I wanted better sushi, Sushi Sumo isn't too far. But on a rainy/snowy or lazy day this place wins. This place leaves me with satisfaction and satiety without guilt or detrimental bowel movements. My recommendations would be the chicken hibachi, spicy tuna roll, crab rangoon, and spring rolls. You'll be set for the night plus one. The interior: not applicable, havent set foot inside, but have driven by. It looks nice. Fancy signs. Overall: Love it. Easy, convenient, hassle free, big portions, delicious and cheap. I will call again, very soon...

I have been coming here at least once per week, sometimes even more, since they opened! Tokyo Express is a very pleasant place to eat and the staff always greets with a smile. I tried quite a number of the rolls but among my favorite is the spicy crunchy tuna. The teriyaki & hibachi grill entrees weigh a ton - they give you ALOT of delicious food -definately enough for two meals and the prices can NOT be beat. If you're in the Newark area and are craving a sushi treat - stop by! You will NOT be disappointed!

Best sushi rolls ever! They don't have the traditional Japanese style sushi of course. Sushi rolls are very Americanized however super yummy! Crab dynamite roll is the best and some of my friends love the frank's roll. Plus it's cheap!

This is a great place for take out sushi.. It's cheap, made to order, fast, and very good. They go slightly overboard on the quantity of soy sauce cups they hand out with every order but overall, nice staff and good inexpensive sushi.

This is not a fancy little Japaneese restuarant however, the food is pretty good. Very limited menu especially for sushi and rolls.
