This was a thoroughly disappointing bar experience-- from the decor to the bar staff, the music, the lighting, the spatial layout, the television placement. If you enjoy listening to a disjoint mix of music played at an awkwardly low level such that you can hear your neighbors talk of their 2nd graders spirit awards and online dating escapades then maybe you'll like it. I did not. The bar staff flirted relentlessly with their favorite clients while neglecting the other 80% of their customers. One bartender boasted that they hired her not for her brains but for her body which was wonderful but I wanted a drink. If you're tiring of your below average mudslides from the neighborhood Applebees perhaps this place would be worth checking out. However, if you're looking to get a good buzz, look elsewhere as it'll never happen with service this slow. If you're looking to pick up a man/woman for the night, look elsewhere unless you're looking for a 38 year divorcee in a letter jacket drinking Blue Moon thinking its a microbrew. If you want to sit at the bar and watch your team play, you will need to take along some painkillers with the horrible viewing angles (though the booths with TVs are a cute touch!). I went to Greene Turtle to watch a basketball game and get a few drinks. I ended up leaving at halftime, grabbed some vodka at the liquor store across the street, and drove myself home to write this review. You think, "eh, she's probably being dramatic"... I promise I'm not. My viewing partner put our experience best... "I'd rather be sober for the rest of my life than have to go back to there."

Great service, food was good, place was clean . I dont know why but the staff was very attentive. Manager made us feel welcome. Will definitely come back again.

Went here for dinner with friends. What's up with the little tvs at each table? That to me is distracting because I'm not there to watch tv. I'm there to socialize with friends and eat. The food was delicious! The service was not really that good. Couldn't get our waitress sometimes. She didn't automatically refill our drinks. Couldn't find her to get sugar.

Been there a number of times. Food is delicious service consistently is bad. We asked for our check last night and it took three requests and close to 20 minutes for them to get it to us while sitting in the bar. Sent two emails to them and they were nice enough to respond a while back and roll out the red carpet for us when we were there one night.. Great night that night, but next time it was back to the same inconsistent service. Don't get me wrong the people who work there are really nice great people but they never have enough service in the bar. Also their mug club is a novel idea but there is no accountability. You can walk in there tomorrow and ask for a random number and they will bring it to you, so that $40 you paid for the start to secure your mug doesn't get you far.

Stopped here on a snowy Sunday afternoon. It was pretty empty and we had the bar to ourselves. I had a great vodka strawberry lemonade, and we ordered Bavarian pretzels with warm queso and stout dijon, and Eastern Shore macaroni and cheese. The pretzels were fine, but the macaroni and cheese was supposed to be Turtle's own mac & cheese with lump crab, sharp cheddar, chopped bacon, Old Bay® and scallions, then baked to order. There was ham instead of bacon, and absolutely no crab or scallions. We questioned the bartender if we got the right order and he could not have cared less. He just said oh its in there...UM NO it was not. We also had a monkey bread ala mode and the monkey bread was overcooked and way too hard.

This place is all right. It's close to my apartment so I have been here a couple of times. I'll admit, I get a kick out of the personal TVs at every table- Especially when everyone else is watching sports and I'm watching Full House on Nick at Nite ;-) The food is okay. I really enjoy their buffalo dip in a bread bowl. It's delicious and I've made sure to get it every time I have had dinner here. I've had a few of the burgers, all of which were pretty good. I've also had their Greek salad, which was a let down, as its usually one of my favorite meals. However, it was probably my own mistake for ordering a salad at a sports bar-ish place like this. The real issue I've had with the Greene Turtle was the service. The hosts weren't all too friendly and the waitstaff is really here nor there. The first time I came here, we had a great server. She was friendly and pretty attentive. The second time I stopped by, the server was nice enough, but stopped at our table a whopping total of 2 times. I looked over and he was flirting with a table of two girls. At least he was nice. The third time, the server was rude and hardly showed up at our table. I'll probably keep coming for burgers and apps. Hopefully the service will improve!

Worst service at Green Turtle tonight. Waiter Kenny was awful. Took forever to get to our table to take drink order, when we asked for a refill, he finally brought it 20 minutes later. Got eastern Mac and cheese, which I love but it was COLD! Fries were cold, service and food just not good. You suck Green Turtle.

Stopped in on Christmas eve for a bite to eat. Food was good, i had a buffalo chicken sandwich and the wife had the eastern shore Mac and cheese. Both were good along with the garlic fries. Our waitress was friendly and we will definitely try this location again

I've visited this establishment in Newark 2x in the past month while visiting other locations in Dover, Lewes, Ocean City and the famous Fell's Point location over the years. Yesterday I had lunch in Newark with a business associate and we both ordered a chicken caesar salad with MD crab soup. The soup was pretty good but not as good as what you will get at a Turtle in MD and the salad was just bad. I asked for my chicken to be blackened and it wasn't even seasoned. I've tasted better out of a can. Maybe this is a decent spot to watch a game, but don't go for the food.

The food sucks, I've been here multiple times and I've never liked anything I've ordered. I'm not picky and I usually like everything so I don't understand this. There aren't really any specials unless you like terrible beer - coors light and miller light... And I think even those are $4. Bleh.

Had lunch with the family on Sunday. Overall, it was a very good experience. Our server was attentive and friendly. The food was decent. Good wraps, chicken skewers were great. Fresh salads. Great place to bring kids. Super loud. TV's everywhere. We will be back. I am really more like 3.5 stars but rounded up!

We recently moved to the area and discovered The Green Turtle. I would say we have been there three times in the last month. We have gone with additional friends two of those times. Every time we have tried different menu options and everything so far has been to our liking. Our young children even eat well there which is not common. The service has been great on all visits as well.

I was looking forward to trying this place since several of my friends had tried it and gave rave reviews. I ordered the Thai pork tacos and they were terrible. The menu description was "Tender, pit-cooked pulled pork... finished with our Spicy Thai Chili sauce." The pork wasn't tender, it was dry and cold. And the taco had no visible Thai Chili sauce on it. The taco really had no flavor. Definitely not spicy. The side salad served with the tacos was warm. This place is just not worth my time or my money. A real shame. I've been waiting a long time to try a Greene Turtle.

Good place, good food. I live nearby and enjoy the food and the PBR cans they offer. Being from the eastern shore of Maryland I especially like all the crab dishes they offer. A star gets lost just due to the servers being somewhat inconsistent. Some are very attentive while others are gone for 10+ minutes at a time.

Been to many Greene Turtles in Central Maryland, but now they have moved into Northern Delaware, less than 40 miles from Philadelphia. Yet when you walk in the door, your are greeted with wall to wall Baltimore sports memorabilia. Hello? Who in Newark, DE wants to look at pictures of Ray Lewis, framed Orioles jerseys and Redskins stuff. Saw one tiny Eagles and Steelers display. To add insult to injury, they have the nerve to have a "Philly Cheese Steak" on the menu. Is this a joke? It was more like a "mis-steakj." Hint, don't call it a Philly Cheese Steak, nobody in Philadelphia adds the word Philly. Seeing the moniker "Philly" is a giveaway that it is an imposter and not a genuine cheese steak. More like a fugazi cheese steak. Other than that, it is just a sports bar in the greater Philadelphia metro area tuned into Baltimore and D.C. sports channels. The micro brew selection is also heavily skewed towards Baltimore breweries, but they did have some Yards, Dogfish Head and one from Victory. But again, know where you are at...this isn't Baltimore or D.C, Anyway, if you fled the Peoples Republic of Maryland to live in the tax haven of Delaware and want a little slice of Maryland without the 6% sales tax, this is your place. If you are the typical Delawarean and want to watch the Eagles, Phillies, Sixers or Flyers, probably not your joint...unless you want to stare at a photo of Ray Lewis or Ray Rice. I'd give this place 3 stars on merit (even with the fugazi cheese steak on the menu), but I am greatly insulted by the Ray Lewis pic. It's a family place, right? So what parent wants to explain to their kid about what happened on the streets of Atlanta in 2000? If they want to be true to their Maryland roots, maybe have 1 or 2 small Baltimore photos, but not the whole restaurant. Know who your customers are!

TV at table didn't work to watch the game. No one tried to fix it, all they said was some little girl played with it. Under the tv is a ton of dust and even a cucumber.

Our most recent visit was peppered with annoyances: my wife wasn't given a straw, we had to ask for silverware after we received our meals, I had to find my own rag to wipe a layer if salt off the bench before I sat down, and the waitress took nearly 25 minutes to bring our appetizer. You can normally count on the Greene Turtle for at least one of these errors per visit, but when compounded, it can be a very frustrating experience. Beer was cold, though!

I thought this new Greene Turtle was decent and service was fairly enthusiastic. The food looked well-prepared too, even if it is the typical sports bar type of food. The only thing I didn't like about this place is the noise level but I suppose they can't help that since it is a sports bar. I did like the big TV on the wall since I was glancing at the Flyers game from time to time. They also have complimentary wi-fi internet. One downside I can see is parking may be a bit tight in the parking lot behind the restaurant if there is a crowd.
