Strong coffee, good snacks, and very good customer service. Saxby's was indeed a welcome surprise to stop at during my 6+ hours on the University of Delaware campus, which is roughly 3 blocks walking distance up the street. The WiFi signal is very good, yet you may be hard pressed in finding an outlet to plug in your laptop. I only saw three total at the time. Nonetheless, Saxby's location is just off of Main Street. Its kind of hidden from Main Street and you really have to look for it if you didn't expect it to be in a small shopping plaza. Parking is around the corner and closest to the residential areas. With regard to the snack choices once again, Saxby's has some sugar-free options. I'm an expresso drinker, and this venue's blend came out quite strong and in a good quantity, which is a good thing! You won't be disappointed with this coffee shop.

I went in to get a breakfast sandwich this morning and they were out of most choices. The menu board was covered with post-it's saying "No More this" and "No More that." So I just asked for a cup of regular coffee. "Oh. We're out of coffee. But we'll make some more." It's a COFFEE shop?! Luckily the coffee, once made, was very good.

Love the app. Makes for paying a seamless process. Great selection of sugar-free options. I can bring all my coworkers here with no problem & enjoyment. A healthy and delicious snack that is always offered is apples and peanut butter. You can switch it up and get veggies too. Who's winning now? Rivals the more we'll know coffee chains on all fronts.

Well, just across the street outside my friend's home. She went there to buy coffee in her pajama... Like that place, English Islander is not my cup of coffee tho.

We stopped going here for the most part. Once the owners daughter left it went downhill. They watched our daughter grow up. Its a shame its gone down hill. The expresso drinks are not consistent. While they use a tasty chai concentrate the way they mix the concentrate does not fully dissolve the powder. When making a cold chai this leaves a granular texture to the drink that is nasty, plus they use too much. A chai latte on the other hand gets mixed up by the steam. Food is not great. We've gotten croissants that you could bang on a table. The bagel sandwiches are greasy, pre-made, fast food style. Location is great. Its clean. I'd rate it a 1 star, but I like the family that owns it a lot so I can't bring myself to rate it so low.

Excellent facility, location and service. I'm not picky with my coffee but I'm all about Saxby's. I would not recommend any of the pre-made bagel sandwiches in the hot plate, they resemble gas station food in appearance and flavor. That said, the freshly toasted bagels with cream cheese/butter at this store are pretty awesome.

My daily routine usually consists of waking up, exiting my house, and stoping by saxbys. I frequent the establishment on a daily basis and lately i have been getting really disappointed. I have experienced that the best days to go are when only the girls are working and this is because of the same reoccurring issue that i frequent when the guys are working. Todays experience has truthfully let me down. I entered the establishment while three male employees were working. I ordered a blended drink with a double shot of expresso as well as a bagel w/ cream cheese. I was the nay patron in the shop and it was completely empty. I ordered and paid with cash. proceeding that the employee made my bagel failing to wash his hands after touching my cash and only put on one glove although he was touching the bagel with both hands. while 2/3 employees where in the back the drink still hadn't been even started. The expresso was bitter because it was left out too long and the bagel went into the garbage because i didn't know where his hands had been and i didn't want to eat something that someone didn't sanitize themselves properly for. not only that but i was waiting for over 15 minutes to receive both items. I am disappointed with my experience today and due to the fact that this has been reoccurring i felt as if i needed to share my experience. I took a photo of the barre hands against my food. I would recommend getting all employees serve safe certified prior to hiring them due to the constant unsanitary factor which has gone unmentioned about.

Location is great, coffee is spectacular! I love love love the atmosphere and the outdoor seating and their glass coffee mugs. I like their prices, and their variety of specialty drinks is delightful. I had the cafe Verona (cinnamon and vanilla latte) and I was so disappointed when it was gone. Definitely worth a visit!

Since I was recently crowned the Duke of this Saxby's location, I guess I should take a moment and put in a good word on their behalf! Smallish, 'chain-but-doesn't-feel-so-much-like-chain' coffee house located conveniently near the Elkton Road side of the UD campus. I have found the employees, including the manager, to be uniformly friendly and helpful. I agree, the jazz music (and posters) add a nice touch of class to the place, and the place ALWAYS pretty crowded - a bit frustrating if you're planning to get a table and hang out with friends. (Worth timing your arrival NOT to coincide with the beginning of morning class times - often a line OUT the door!) The patio seating IS a nice element as well, though you will have to deal with the trains going by every 10 or 15 minutes or so - definitely a conversation stopper! In any event, it is my go to coffee place! The bold variety de jour is always a good bet!

The establishment itself is okay. It appeared clean and has some seating. Decent selection of coffee and if you are a flavored coffee drinker, you will be happy here. They even have a decent selection of sugar free options. They have your typical coffee food selection, along with some healthy food options (veggie & humus) for those who want to snack guilt-free. Where this place struck out for me was with the chai tea. It just tasted.... off. I don't really know how to describe it, but I much prefer Brew Ha Ha or Starbucks over theirs. It just has a icky aftertaste and I ended up throwing most of mine away. Some may prefer this taste though, so if you don't quite like the chai at the other establishments, you may want to give this one a go. Bottom line for me is I wouldn't go out of my way to come back to get something here because I mainly get chai.

Perfect place to grab some coffee, study, and listen in on other people's conversations. (slightly joking about the last part)

Good coffee, nice quiet relaxing vibe. Went a couple of weeks ago as I had to go to fedex down the street. I'd go more often if it was closer. Nice alternative to Starbucks.

Four stars because it's a crampt little room and because corporate took two months to get in coffee club cards. Other than that this place is hopping, lots of pretty young college girls and guys. The coffee is very very good, and I'm quite the snob. Daily menu changes on regular coffee, which I love since I'm old school java juice not into those fluffy sugary coffee-deserts. Food looks good... but I've been down that road before... you'll have to taste it yourself.

I absolutely love the Fro-Yo and have driven all the way from Smyrna just to get a cup of some of this frozen treat but I stopped after the third time I got a half empty cup. This stuff isn't cheap and driving 45 minutes to get a hollow swirl is kind of ridiculous. Fill it up and stop being such a cheap-o and THEN I'll start making ridiculous drives again.

Saxbys is a franchise coffee shop chain, less uniform and corporate than Starbucks. It's more corporate and sterile than most independent coffee shops, but it still has a lot of character. This particular location is in a brand-new, pleasant storefront in a very convenient location, near the heart of the U. of Delaware campus, and on Amstel ave, almost on Elkton road, the "other" commercial street in town (besides main street). I'm a huge fan of there being a coffee shop here and I am sure it will do very well. Great location--walkable from most of Newark and from UD, but with a large parking lot behind the store. This place, in spite of the fact that it doesn't have the hugest interior, has enough seating that I can almost always get a spot at most times of day...there's a bar with individual seats at the window, and the tables come in a diversity of sizes and shapes, great for working alone, chatting with a friend, or having a larger group. The prices here are very reasonable. They carry a decent selection of high-quality teas (although they're still in teabags) and have good baked goods which aren't too sweet. They also have frozen yogurt! The wireless is free and VERY fast and has been very reliable. There is also a pleasant outdoor seating area, although it has ashtrays so it sometimes attracts people who smoke, which would be a downside for me. The brand of tea carried here is Two Leaves and a Bud: ratetea.net/brand/two-le… Anyone interested can review these teas on RateTea.net , a website which is a little bit like a yelp for teas. I actually programmed most of RateTea.net while working from this Saxby's too...so there's a special connection between the website and this coffee shop. =) For bicyclists, there is a noticeable absence of a bike rack nearby, but with some skill, you can easily lock your bike to the railing with a U-lock or more easily with a chain lock. When I first reviewed this place I complained about their use of radio...they have since changed their music! I now love the music they play...they play jazz a lot of the time. It really fits with the atmosphere too. But they do need to get a bit more variety. If you're a regular like me, you eventually start to hear all the same songs. The people who run this place are also super nice. The employees here are SOOOOO nice. And the owner, Walt, is also very nice. Also, important to me, both the owner, and the shop as a whole, are very committed to sustainability. See those plastic-looking cups? They are biodegradable. This place isn't in-your-face, trying to capitalize on the whole "greenwashing" thing...they just are quietly doing a lot of green things behind the scenes, and I think they deserve credit not only for going green but for not shoving it in people's face and trying to cash in on it. I would certainly recommend this place. I tend to strongly prefer independent coffee shops, but I have very good feelings about the Saxby's chain, and this Saxby's in particular, and I have happily been a regular here when I've lived in Newark.
