I am quite a fan of CURRY! We ordered chicken madras and chicken curry for main dish. a little disappointed in the taste of madras. But Love Mango Lassi! The decoration inside is quite authentic Indian, quiet but a little dark. All in all, I would like to go back again to try some more because I believe there should be something suitable to my taste.

straight up i didn't have the buffet BUT the a la carte was FAB. Delaware vegans/vegetarians THIS IS YOUR SPOT. the staff here is amazing. they know exactly what is vegan, exactly what can be made vegan, and they are super nice and the food is delish! in all honesty - i've had indian food all over the world and this place is fine in comparison. they have a good variety of dishes and everything was very very very good! i came here because they sponsored Delaware veg fest and i left stuffed and happy. pro tip: this place is BYOB and you have to go to the counter to pay (i learned that the hard way)

I went there for dinner buffet on Sunday evening. - Food was cold, not even warm. When I asked about it they said that's what you get in buffet at this time(Sunday 8:20), if you want warm food order separately or He offered me to put my plate in microwave. - Rest room was disgusting. I am not going there again.

Being new to the area we looked this place up on Yelp. In all honesty, it was a less than stellar experience. 1. My soda was warm. 2. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala. Sadly I found the flavor of the base sauce to be severely lacking any flavor, besides the heat. My chicken was mostly dark meat too. More power to you if you like dark meat, but I would much rather my chicken to be white meat in this dish. The rice and garlic naan were great though. 3. The bathroom was disgusting! It was musty smelling and you could see rust had formed on the heating elements. A gross toilet brush was resting against the wall on top of the rust base board. The floor appeared to have not been washed in a long time. On the plus side, the service was lovely and friendly. Unfortunately I won't be able to bring myself back for another meal.

We tried some real Indian food here. The food was great, especially the curry here. One kind of Indian bread called roti smelled so good, also for naan. The chicken madras was highly recommended, a little bit spicy but with many kinds of special smell of herbs, very tasty. But I felt a little dark in the restaurant and they did not have enough waiters here.
Not good experince. Worst customer service. Food is good but worst part is te customer service. They have to improve their standard on customer service. We waited for 10 mins to have water on our table. One of the Server was not good at all. Rude behaviour.

I go there twice a month with my wife (who is vegetarian). Not my favorite kind of cuisine, but I do pride myself in expanding my horizons. I have no complaints about the food. It is BYOB, so heck, I even save a few bucks! The good food aside, I am disturbed with the disrepair and stench of the mens restroom. The toilet doesn't flush properly, the sink is filthy and it smells of rotting urine. The carpet outside of both restrooms is soiled. I wonder if something flooded back there? The service is first rate. Raj is always our waiter and he makes great recommendations.

I had the Tandori Chicken, which is essentially just roasted chicken, painted red, on a bed of onions. It was decent, but not terribly awe-inspiring. The staff was fast and attentive. The place seems to be trying very hard to be authentic and fancy,

I've been to Maharaja a number of times, the latest being last night for dinner. It's a decent Indian restaurant. Nothing spectacular, but it's good. To people who have never had Indian food before, I always suggest them trying lunch buffets served at Indian establishments; these are always a good introduction. Maharaja has a good variety for their lunch buffet, and it's not very expensive. However, if you want to have really good food, you have order off the menu and tell to make the food medium spicy or spicy. Most Indian dishes should have a little heat to it. Last night I went with a couple friends, and we had a few dishes. For appetizer, we ordered the vegetable samosas and "meat samosas". The vegetable samosa was good, but meat samosa was okay. I'm assuming the meat was lamb; the meat needed some flavor. For dinner, we ordered chicken tikka masala, lamb rogan josh, and goat curry with an order of 2 breads - naan and aloo (potato) paratha. Overall the food was good, but nothing amazing. I'm usually not a fan of chicken tikka masala, and Maharaja's didn't change my mind. This is one of the dishes that is not supposed to be spicy, and it wasn't; it's suppose to be a little sweet. I prefer Indian dishes that are usually spicy. The dish I enjoyed the most was the goat curry. Being an Indo-Caribbean (Caribbean of Indian decent), we only have curry in our cuisine, no kormas, tikka maslas, etc, so I tend to prefer dishes similar to what I would eat at home or in the Caribbean, which tend to be the curry or vindaloo dishes. With that being said, that is the reason I enjoyed the goat curry. What I do love is their selection of background music. They have a great mix of contemporary Bollywood music. Overall, not a bad dinner, but nothing to rave about. I'd recommend it.

First, it's not always buffet. Only for some specific time it is a buffet. We went there in the evening. they brought out our meals after over 30 min's waiting. It's really really Slow! The waiters are all with poker face, not friendly at all.

I go to Maharajah for the lunch buffet, the price is reasonable and the food is good. Like Vietnamese and Thai food; I like the fact of simple food with great ingredients and alot of flavor. There's usually a good selection of at least 5-6 entree dishes with a vegetarian selection, which are also very good, and a dessert selection. And plenty more to try: naan, simosas and palak paneer. The waitstaff is friendly and attentive and a quiet and subdued atmosphere.

Was in Delaware for a business trip. looked up for some India restaurants in the vicinity of my workplace.. Maharaja popped up being the closest . decent lunch buffet. The mutter paneer was awesome and so was the chicken curry . I am not a big fan of eating rice. but couldn't resist having chicken curry with rice.. delicious... A must dine-in restaurant.....

I was honestly disappointed. I had their lunch buffet for the first time yesterday. Their buffet was pretty (fresh foods) but small and a little cramped. Nothing was as spicy as I like it to be. The salad was drenched in dressing. The staff was nice and the water guy always made sure we didn't even have less than half a glass of water. Two people for less than $20 but I'm not sure I will go again.

OK, Here's the skinny on Maharajah. After checking out 2 Indian restaurants on the same road, I decided (against my better judgement) to skip my favorite spot (A Taste of India) to check out the other two. Actually, 3. One is in the process of being opened. I will let you know when it's official. The other one didn't impress me at all after looking at their buffet. The third was the Maharajah. Yes, it's in a strip mall. The Host was very friendly and accommodating, however, the wait staff acted as if they were there against their will. The floors and the bathrooms were very dirty. I felt their food was average and their prices alot higher than most. My opinion, I'll skip this place and stay with my Favorite in Newark. PS: I'll do a review of the other restaurant when it opens. This looks like it may be a good one.

There's a cluster of Indian restaurants down Kirkwood Highway, and I was feeling slightly celebratory today (new house, new job) so I popped into the Maharaja for the buffet lunch. I've never been there before, and my first impression was that it specialized in lonely men eating alone. There were two other guys there, and nobody spoke. The buffet presentation and variety were above average. There were four vegetarian dishes and 3 chicken dishes available, with plain basmati or palau, naan, soup, two desserts, pakora and different salads, pickles and fruit. My favorite veggy dish was the saag paneer, and the chicken makhani was good. I rate buffet chicken dishes on whether the boneless meat seems to be left over from the choicer bits served in more expensive dishes in the evening, but the makhani was fine. And few culinary things excite me as much as a huge bowl of gulab jamun floating in sugary rose water. $9 for the buffet lunch was appropriate. I'd be willing to go back for dinner sometime.

ive always enjoyed this place. ive been for both the lunch buffet and the regular dinner. good selection of veggie friendly food, even at the buffet. the restaurant is really clean and nice inside and has room for larg parties. the buffet is set up across 3 large tables, not in a lil glass covered hot bar. and yet the food stays hot all while looking very elegant. i also love that this place isnt dark, a lot of indian restaurants in DE are dark which scares me. the staff is super friendly and are really good about refills without hoovering. the food is really yummy, very fresh with huge chunks of veggies and cheese. the nan and the rice are perfect too. now im craving to go back, maybe i will on monday! if theyre even open... they have weird hours.

If you are looking for one of those places with indian food spreads for around 10 bucks. This is the place to go. This is another of those indian restaurants that loads us dishes with cream and color. Very average food. If your looking for good indian food in de, sorry your out of luck. There are'nt any genuine indian/pak restaurants. The closest are lasani on route 4 and tandoori grill in bear. Both are not decent restaurants to eat in. Good for take outs.

India is the birth place of Chicken Tikka Masala and Curries. Indian foods are prepared with a blend of finely mixed spices quite popular across the region. The spices develop the rich taste in Indian food enough to boggle your mind. The ever-increasing fan base of Indian food around the New York city is steadily increasing because of the large number of Indians who traveled to the land of dreams. The Indians also brought their very own vibrant, colorful, and aromatic authentic dishes for the people in the West. While most of the Indian population is Vegetarian, Indian food is great for people who are looking for vegan or vegetarian food option. If you are a Meat lover, don't get disappointed yet. Indian food also boasts of some popular non-vegetarian dishes too. Few examples are the famous Butter Chicken, Mutton Biryani and Tandoori Chicken are enough to satisfy your taste buds.
Indian food has gained reputation all over the world especially in the United States. You can find many places serving the appetizing Indian food across all major cities in the US. India is a diverse country with different food culture originated from different parts of the country. While the Northern region boasts tandoori dishes and korma offering royal taste, the Western Ghats offers sea foods that is made in naturally sweet tender coconut milk. The South Indian food servers a quality of different dishes made from rice accompanied with spicy chutneys, curries and famous sambhar. Also, the Indian sweets are a delight to relish. If you ever want to have a burst of sugar syrup in mouth, don't forget to try few Bengali Sweets. Be it spicy, tangy, or sweet flavor, you can find everything in the Indian cuisine. Be assured that the melody of spices will surely bring delight to you.

This is the best Indian buffet I've had yet and I've been around this area for over 10 years. This is easily in the Top 3 Best Indian Restaurants. Each restaurant has it's own taste and style of food prep because let's face Indians are diverse and so is their food. This restaurant has good customer service and good food. Waitstaff is friendly and attentive. Atmosphere could be better if they had more space and more $$ into the décor. But that will come in time. The proof of it's quality is that a lot of Indians, Americans, and non-Americans alike frequent this place. Overall, I recommend this place quite highly.
