Korean Barbecue & Sushi Bar Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

The Spicy Kalbi here is the best anywhere. Not the cheapest by any means, but it comes out with a fantastic glaze on it, and it is generally thick cut. It's not spicy in terms of heat, just melt-in-your-mouth bites with loads of flavor. If anyone knows the secret recipe here, I need to know!

This was our first time at this restaurant. We used to go to a restaurant in New Jersey when we lived there. The food here was decent, the service was excellent, prices were fair, portion sizes were appropriate and the ambience was casual. The servers were friendly and checked up on us periodically. The Korean wings were excellent but we were not too thrilled with the bulgogi dolsot. It wasn't what we expected. I would come back for the wings.

I've been coming here for years and almost always for their soups. I love the Jambong here! I've been to a few other Korean BBQ and they either don't sell it or it's not very good. The other stuff on the menu is tasty too and worth a try.

I used to frequent this place solely for their Korean BBQ (specifically the bulgogi). The price was always a bit higher than I thought it could be previously, but I justified it with the selection of sides that came with it. However, since they have raised their prices on their BBQ dishes (and pretty significantly, was around $16 if I recall correctly and now is around $25), I have had to stop going there. It is a shame as the Bulgogi was excellent, and the sides were all relatively enjoyable. My only other issue was that the service left a lot to be desired. The few waitresses seemed apathetic most of the time, and we're usually pretty slow to get refills and such. On a face level, they seemed fairly friendly most of the time, so I never really cared too much, but was never really impressed. I conclusion, I used to overlook the flaws for the good food, but now with steep prices, I can no longer justify returning :(

Not really a fan. Being a New Yorker and an Asian food lover, I've had better Korean food. The price for the portion of meal you get was a little too expensive. Everything on the menu from the appetizers to the dinner menu started out $15 and up and not even including drinks. Definitely felt like we were duped. Other than that the only thing good about this place was the service.

I've been hittin this place up for the last five years so I think it's time to give back. Every once in a while I get a craving for some jaeyuk bokkum, and this little place delivers. Their bulgogi bibimbap is awesome too. My girlfriend really loves the bento boxes and she frequents the chicken teriyaki. It's tasty. The only meal that I was disappointed with was the shrimp fried rice. I didn't order it but a friend did and it definitely wasn't worth the price. It was basically a 14 dollar mound of fried rice with baby shrimp in it. That being said, their prices are a little high, but when I get the craving, I tell my wallet to shut the hell up cuz we're about to pound some jaeyuk dapbab, ya dig? The staff is really friendly and they recently got new tables with table top grills. It's always a pleasure walking in and walking out full of delicious pork bbq. I'll be sad to leave this place behind.

Im getting rather familiar with the restaurant placement style here in Delaware. Great places in odd locations. Maybe I'm jaded by large urban centers and fancy structures. The interior of this place isn't too exciting, seems a bit lackluster. It has a poor attempt at being authentic. The off colored walls with only a couple photos on the wall and some wall decorations make you question if you have made a right choice for your meal. But, don't judge a book by its cover. The service was fantastic, I felt the staff was very excited to be serving you and preparing your meal. They were quick, friendly and helpful. They were knowledgeable about each dish and proved helpful when ordering a new type of food. The food was great! The bulgogi isn't the best I've had, it was a bit more sweet than spiced but it was cooked well. There were about 6 side dishes to accompany your meal and the Romaine lettuce was fresh and crisp. These side dishes were presented nicely in individual mini dishes and were plentiful. The kimchi I thought was OK, and maybe needed some more kick to them. The waitress was kind enough to show you how to build your lettuce wrap to get you started on your glutenous journey. I wish there was more lettuce, I ran out too quickly. Thank goodness for silverware. They do have a limited drink selection and you're best off going somewhere else to drink. Overall, this place has its good side and bad side. An entire dish isn't built delicious but each component is either hit or miss. I will come back, I need to try other items on their menu.

Since I found this listing, a couple weeks ago, I've wanted to check this place out and I finally did tonight. What is authentic anymore? With so many people in the world, we've mixed cultures for years, sharing our meals and creating new ones. Even if you went to a country, people are still going to have their interpretations on the food. I say, if it's good food, it's good food. With good food, you taste the time someone put into creating it, that's why it tastes good! Since I cook for myself, a lot, I know the effect it takes to make something good. So this place gets 4 stars from me. It doesn't seem like that have working "table grills"; they did not use them while I was there but you can see them in a couple of tables. Based on a review here, and a quick online search, I ordered Jeyuk Bokkeum (which in the menu, they spell - Jaeyuk Bokkum, which they list it as "pan fried pork loin with special sauce.") The meat was good, nice flavor; although the menu has it listed as "hot", to me, it really wasn't; had a spice "kick" but not hot. The meat was tender; I was a little disappointed with the lack of vegetables. Although they did serve 6 little bowls of complementary food items (served all together) before our food arrived. Out of those items, only the broccoli was cold which was not that good, compared to everything else. We were given complementary tea which was really nice. It had a mild, non-sugary, simplicity; I wish I had some of this on the snowy days at home. I need to find out what it was. I knew I was not going to pronounce Jeyuk Bokkeum correctly, so before I went, I typed it into my phone's note app. When ordering, I showed the waitress what it said, asking if they had it and she directed me to it on the menu. It wasn't with Kimchi though, it just had some peppers and onions with it. I tasted the "Shrimp Yaki" (shrimp grilled with teriaki sauce) and I liked that they left the shrimp tails on. I also tasted the "O-Jinguh Bokkum" (pan fried spicy squid with vegetables) and the squid was just, not rubbery, but tough, a little over cooked, perhaps and there it lacked flavor. The staff were nice and tried their best to communicate; the waitress took care of us and when she saw that I brought my own chop sticks she was almost amazed. It was cute. I took a take out menu (uploaded pictures of it) and will most likely come back here again to try other stuff. The place was clean and I loved their bowls and place settings.

This was my second visit here. My first visit I had the Bulgogi which was very good and was highly recommended. This visit I had the Spicy Pork Yaki. I really liked the combination of spicy yet sweet tastes of the sauce along with the smokey taste of the pork. I would definitely have the Yaki again. I like the fact that they give you an assortment of sides along with your meal. The venue itself is nothing special at all but don't let that stop you from getting some great Korean food.

It was my second time to have dinner here. It seemed to be a Korean-Japanese restaurant. I ordered marinated prime ribs. Maybe because I had too much ribs in that week, I didn't feel the ribs was very good. I doubted a little bit about the meat I had. It seemed not to be the rib because they served it as chipped meat. Absolutely, it was pork, but I knew many ways to cook other parts of pork like rib. The decoration here was not very coordinate, perhaps because they removed the BBQ stove on the some desks.

We have been coming here faithfully for probably 10 years - friendly service, usually delicious food, it is a family favorite. I hope to be able to switch back to 5 stars asap because we normally adore this place. Tonight we got takeout, something we do often. This time...it was bad. Our normal favorite, the beloved spicy chicken yaki, was pretty much unrecognizable. Usually a hot flavorful juicy dish with lots of colorful vegetables and tender chicken in a spicy thin red sauce...today it was cold chicken pieces and raw onions in a bland brown sauce. No other veggies, barely any sauce, slapped in a container. Um, WHAT HAPPENED???? This is like a life tragedy, (ok, maybe not THAT bad, but seriously seriously disappointing.) We also specifically asked for fish cakes as a side as our children love them, get the order all the way home..no fish cakes. Deeeeeeep Sigh. Korean BBQ & Sushi Bar, please hear our cries...come back to us. We want to love you, we can forgive, just fix it please.

The food is delicious and it's authentic. However, for a place that doesn't have heat or air conditioning, that doesn't have a soda machine and gives you overpriced canned sodas, the prices are way too high. Lower them. It's cool that you get unlimited sides (I think, although I've only asked for more two times) but it's too expensive. Also, the service is awful. It's almost like they ignore their customers just so they don't have to give them more sides. Last time I went was a month ago and they "ran out of potatoes and kimchi" um? That's kind of why I went.

For the half dozen or so times I've been here in the last two years, this place has been pretty okay. Try to keep in mind that it's going to be a challenge to find 100% perfect Korean food in DE. Their prices have gone up about $5 for their meats. A little disappointing considering the portions seem smaller too?? The women are usually friendly to tolerable. My friend loves their seafood stew! The meat is good, though maybe sweeter than traditional Korean BBQ?? The decor and bathroom are pretty lame so you're not really coming here for atmosphere. I'll probably be back within the next six months or so.

So far, I've had the opportunity to eat both dinner and lunch at this restaurant. The food is good and the price is very reasonable. Recently, I had lunch here and I definitely enjoyed it. I order the shrimp teriyaki bento box. I highly encourage the bento box for lunch. You get so much food for $9. I don't recall every single item, but my bento box came with two pieces of sushi (California), rice, shrimp teriyaki, a small salad and a few other items.

Ordered the spicy Bulgogi and it was tender and delicious. Had them cook it for us, not quite sure of the entertainment value of cooking it at the table. It wasn't very spicy, some of the sides were super spicy. The sides were a great and interesting mix. Nice place, the staff were a bit, for lack of a better term, discrete, they were certainly attentive to us but I rather them come ask me if I needed anything. Well worth the visit and will go here again, probably try one of their stew or soup meals next time.

I have gone here for years and the service was never anything to write home about but after my experience with their poor customer service this evening nothing will take me back. I'd rather cook bulgogi at home. This time I went as a party of four. Three adults and one child. We ordered two bulgogi's and were given sides for only one standard bulgog (among other items)i. Being reasonable we figured since we ordered two and were also given only 3 small bowls of rice (I guess they felt the child didn't need to eat rice?) that there would be no problem when we request additional fishcakes. Our waitress immediately told us "No. We do not have any more fishcakes today!" While we ordered yet a 3rd order of shrimp and waited for things like spoons and offers for refills I notice a couple that has come in after us, and was waited on well after us, is being served bulgogi with a healthy sized side dish of fishcakes which we were told they did not have. When I asked the waitress she said that it was because they have the bulgogi's pre-prepped which I understand but why not give us the both the bulgogi's we ordered or how about being honest and not lying in the first place about the dish being gone for the day? Asked to speak to the manager who was entirely unapologetic. Offered no alternate dish or acknowledgement that they are falsely advertising by not providing patrons with the quantity of food items they order. I've had better Korean BBQ all over the country. I wouldn't recommend anyone go here.

I was very excited to hear that I was going to try Korean BBQ in Delaware. Ironically, this was the most work I've had to do in a long time. Seriously, the waitress dropped off the meat and left us alone. I cut the galbi short ribs off the bone, cooked it and cut it with scissors. Waitress never came back. In terms of taste, the bbq was ok. I was a bit nervous when I noticed the lettuce wraps were browning and wilting. No thanks on the Ssam. The banchan spread was fine. In addition, we were the only table to cook our own meat. Everyone else at other tables were either lazy or they saw me toiling and decided otherwise. Still, if I lived in the area, I would return. Good but far from great. IFHTP 1

I've been going to this place for 4 years now and I can honestly say that it used to be good, now just OK. Not sure if they changed the cooks or if there was even a change to begin with but the food does not taste very authentic anymore. The bulgogi just tastes mediocre now and same for the kimchi. I do like the kalbi tang and love the fact that they actually have ddeokbokki! The soju is kind of overpriced but can't have sam gyeop sal without it. The customer service is decent but not horrible. I definitely don't think this is the best place in DE so I would recommend going to Kahl-Bee in Elsmere.

Best fried rice ever!!!! We are non-American rice eaters and this is so close to our culture it is astonishing. And we aren't even Asian. I've had multiple things on their menu including the spicy Bulgogi and the sweet and sour chicken. It's one of those really awesome hole-in-the-wall restaurants you might stumble upon in a big city. They give you lots of appetizers and the portions are nicely sized. We bring our friends here regularly too. Must try!

Hubs and I finally came back to this place about a week ago for a round two. We walked in mid-afternoon, and were quickly greeted by two ladies sitting at a table across the room. One of them, a sweet, friendly young girl, seated us and handed us our menus and ordered our drinks. We decided to have the same dishes we had the first time around because we liked them so much... hubs had a tasty beef dish with rice (the name escapes me at the moment), and I had the yummy spicy Kimchi Fried Rice. Both of us had some sushi on the side, as well as the many side dishes they usually offer with their meals. We were not disappointed one bit. Food was just as good as we remembered from the first visit, and the service just as nice. The portion of Kimchi Rice is always enough to take home and enjoy the next day. Will definitely be back for more in the future. ^^

Good BBQ but not worth the heavy price. We went on a Sunday afternoon and the first sign of the food being good was the presence of many Asian/Korean customers. Those folks likely know Korean barbecue much better than I do. We had the beef and the server suggested we let the kitchen cook it rather than doing it at the table; so we took his suggestion and the BBQ beef was really good, though it was made to look like more than it actually was as the pieces of meat were piled onto a charred bone beneath.. Clever presentation, but a bit dishonest. Unfortunately, it's heavily over-priced for the amount of food we received. $33 for a two-person serving and while the portion wasn't tiny, it was nowhere near $33 worth, that price did not include our drinks, soft drinks and appetizers. Too bad. The meat was so good but we left a little hungry and with the impression we'd be duped.

I love to eat here. I love the pickled and spicy items they bring to freshen your palate before you eat your meal. They are good to eat in between if you are sampling someone else's meal. I like the bento boxes - you get a sampling of everything in one box! Don't be afraid to ask if you don't know what something is - the staff is friendly and will guide you. If you don;t like spicy - let them know and the chef will tame the dish for you.

Grabbed some of the Kim Chee Fried Rice tonight. My initial review mentioned that the rice was a bit off that day, figured that it was a time of visit issue. Tonight the rice was well made. Although it was fried rice it was nice and even. There were no hard pieces or mushy areas. The crunch of the Kim Chee and the small vegetable dices in there were great. The taste was complex and well balanced. The heat was mild after cooking, but did shine through a little. I am a fan and will continue to return for more dishes, several of which looks like you have to dine in to truly enjoy.

We really like to eat at this restaurant. The food is great, especially the Bulgogi. We normally get takeout, but the sit down experience is good too, contrary to some of the other reviews I saw. We bring our kids and a slow meal is definitely not an option. Our kids like it too (especially the dumplings and Bulgogi) which is a big plus. Maybe my kids are not the norm, but I think this is a fine place to bring a family. My only complaint is that when you get takeout, you don't get the same complimentary side dishes, despite the fact that I spend the same amount and leave a generous tip. I have even asked and been either refused or begrudgingly obliged, which is a little frustrating given my loyal patronage.

We were driving down Kirkwood Highway looking for a place to eat....in the mood for something new. I'd been driving past the Korean BBQ for years and was never quite sure, it being next to a tanning salon and all. It's kinda dumpy inside and getting to the table is awkward because of the large, now defunct, exhaust hood hovering above the table. Apparently you could once cook the food at the table on a stone or hot pot. The server was Kurt but functional. We saw her once at the beginning and then again when the food was ready and of course when the time came to pay the bill. I was excited when she brought a selection of small plates to the table. She brought spicy cucumbers, sweetened potatoes, bean sprouts, steamed veggies, and some kimchee. All were pretty tasty but I wasn't quite sure what to do with them and the server offered no explanation. Next the pan fried dumplings came. Nice but typically standard. I had finished two of them when she brought our entrees. Bad form! I'm not sure what I got but it was #84, one of the server's favorite. It was pork belly with a spicy hot and sweet sauce. The flavor was nicely balanced with soy and chili paste. Enjoyable but not memorable. I could go back but will hopefully look for similar dishes and better services at the Korean place on the east side of Kirkwood Highway. Good food and neglectful service = two stars and a milk toast review.

Absolutely the best restaurant in Newark! The banchan (sides) are fabulous, especially the tofu, potato, and fish cakes. The Bulgogi is out of this world, as are the short ribs and pork. I've never had any of the Japanese food here, but I would stick to the Korean items and the BBQ, as that's really what they specialize in. The service can sometimes be slow and lackluster, but they are always friendly.

Decent Korean food for Delaware, but would be considered mediocre at best in areas with more Korean options. Service is slow and the waitresses are inattentive even though the entire restaurant is basically one large room. Next time I'll try the BBQ, but the stews I tried were unmemorable and a little overly salted. I've had better and more satisfying Korean food at H-Mart or Assi food courts.

  • Leigh S.

We decided to try this place, based on other reviews. The kalbi (galbi), pork belly, Kim chi fried rice, and banchan were very tasty, and quite authentic. But the overall experience here was poor, so we will not be coming back. Poor seating management caused unnecessary, lengthy wait; table/chairs were not cleaned prior to seating; no menus or drinks brought until additional 20 min. wait (on top of initial 30 min. wait for table); non-functioning grill in center of table; boarded-up exhaust fans above; only one waitress for entire restaurant; and long wait to get the final check. If the rating was based on the food alone, it would get 4 stars, but sadly it was an entirely disappointing experience.

I was too excited when I found this place. Of course, it would be better if more people patronized it. But I like to be the beneficiary of critical mass, especially when it comes to seafood, rather than the promoter.

Chelsea and I had a small sushi, and fried dumplings as appetizers, and the spicy Bulgogi beef for our entree with two cold Sapporo beers. The sushi was eh, but the fried dumplings were perfect - as always - crispy and full of flavor. The Bulgogi was tender, and well seasoned, and there was lots of it. Included was a Kimchee assortment - 6 dishes, and sauce. So good. I've been to Korea, and this place serves it right. During the fall and winter, I enjoy their soups and stews as soul chargers. Everyone I've taken to this place has enjoyed it, too. Fear not - venture forth and eat at Korean Barbecue & Sushi Bar.

The pork BBQ is really good but pretty salty. As always, the little dishes are yummy and provides a nice break for your tastebuds. The stews and lunchboxes are all very tasty too but the sushi is not worth ordering. It can be hard to get the waitress to refill your water glass.

This is by far my favorite restaurant in Newark. I have sampled most of the things on the menu and nearly all of the meals were absolutely outstanding. A warning, however: this restaurant is not a place for those with timid tastes in food. Many of the items are very spicy, and in addition, the food may be a bit alien to people who are unfamiliar with Korean cuisine. This restaurant is not Americanized! One of the best things about this restaurant is (typical of Korean restaurants) that they bring out, in addition to the meal, and free of charge, a variety of small side dishes, including usually at least two kinds of kimchi, tofu, potatos, fish cakes, bean sprouts, etc. These side-dishes are diverse in flavor and texture and are always of the highest quality. Although the name suggests that this restaurant is mostly about Barbecue and Sushi, I want to emphasize that my favorite items on the menu are actually the large meal-sized soups, especially the seafood soups. I have had the sushi and although it is good, I don't think it's quite on par with the rest of the food in the restaurant. The atmosphere is nice but not fancy. My main complaint is the single door--avoid sitting near the door in cold weather. The final word: this place is great! Anyone who has adventurous tastes in food and is stuck living in Delaware will want to check this place out!

  • Bess W.

Not bad Korean food with sushi on the menu too (which I haven't had). It's got barbecue-ready tables, but I have only been there for lunch and have never seen anyone bbq-ing. I've had hearty, spicy stews in clay pots, and good, fresh veggie bibimbops. This is not the best Korean food I have ever had, but it's the best (only) I have had in Delaware.

  • Bill S.

The Barbeque (served on the bbq ready tables) is really a fun meal to share with others, and the mix of vegetables that it is served with are pretty enjoyable. It's not the fanciest place around, but I look forward to dining there.

My cousin and I went here and we thought it was just phenomenal! We'd never dined at a korean restaurant before so we had a couple of questions and the waitress was happy to answer them for us. The pan fried dumplings here are out of this world! I think I could've eaten about 2 dozen of them. They're filled with beef and pork, then steamed, and then pan friend until crisp. For out entree we had the Bulgogi for 2 people. It was truly delicious and we had the opportunity to prepare it ourselves, which added to the fun. The banchan were very good and varied. They included kimchee, tofu, cucumber, bean sprouts, lettuce, potato, and a couple of other things. I think the tofu was the greatest. My cousin professed "I don't like tofu", but after me prompting her to try it her mind changed; on the car ride home she later blurted out "that tofu was good!". The service was prompt and friendly, I'd definitely come back to Delaware and make sure that I make time to dine here once again! With tax and about a 25% tip our meal was about $42; we left very satisfied.
