Stopped here based on reviews and have been disappointed. Went here three times for a birthday cake. The first time they didn't spell the name correctly on the top. Now desperate, I agreed to have them correct it. They did, but it didn't look as good as it should have. BTW, the name was spelled correctly on the work order. Evidently the person decorating the cake didn't look. The cake was good, so I went back a second time. Guess what. The name wasn't spelled correctly. Again it was corrected, but looked bad. Ok, third and last time. When I picked up the cake, I asked why it was so cold, I was told it was refrigerated, but just baked. When I got it home, it was hard in the middle. Never again.

WHY hasn't anyone told me about this place? It's AMAZING. I went by for the first time today and I loved it. The pastries melt in your mouth, I mean they literally do, and the staff is attentive and helpful! I am hoked for life.

My fiancé and I paid Bing's Bakery a visit for cake consulting for our wedding cake in September. The moment we entered the store, we were surprised by how different the shop looked after their visit from Cake Boss. The employee's were very nice and hospitable to get us started on trying the selection of icings, fillings and cakes they had to choose from their wedding cakes. Everything from the samples to the complementary drinks were delicious! The samples were the right amount of sweetness and the cakes were so soft and moist! When we got to meet with Carla about confirming our order for our wedding cake, she showed so much enthusiasm for helping us with our order. Helped us to understand the process for our cake and even showed us some of their lovely designs on their cakes. At the end of our meeting with Carla, we were even surprised when we inquired about our parking voucher, she let us know that they did have free parking behind their bakery and actually helped us out with the parking lot bill. (We had parked all the way across main street because I forgot where the bakery was. Silly me!) Anyone who is looking for a wedding cake order or just stopping in for a sweet treat, you can count on Bing's to give you excellent service and delicious treats!

This place is amazing! My children love the muffins and cookies. Sometimes I let them pick out something for breakfast and they always tell me to take them there.

There's not much to say about Bing's. Just about everything I have tried from this bakery was not good. Dry, weird flavor, just overall not tasty. I've tried cheesecake, cookies, cupcakes, and I really did not like any of them. They seem to be a Delaware favorite, so perhaps you'll have a better experience than I have.

Great cake w lovely buttercream classic ; not too sweet and lots of choice pastries for morning snack. The petit fours are prefect for an afternoon party too. This is not a frou-frou place as some reviewers seem to want but classic bakery-sadly they are few left; where I live in upper west side of NY there is really nothing near by so try this place you will like it. Wish I could beam it up to Amsterdam .

Customer service is fantastic- very helpful! We were very surprised to see how cheap it was for the selection of sweets we ended up with. However, as others have noted, the quality just isn't there. The chocolate covered pretzels were stale and the chocolate was...gummy? The cookies were very dry. The peach layer cake is ridiculously sweet, so sweet we couldn't even finish the small piece. The raspberry spring roll was moist, but didn't have much flavor. Overall, you get what you pay for.

I love bings! I've been going here for years! I've never been disappointed. All my birthday cakes come from Bings and now they are making MACARONS! My favorite cookie!

Ordered cakes from there for birthday and they have been delicious! Had marble cake and red velvet and people loved and raved about both. They are not super sweet and they are always moist!

The cookies are stale and the muffins have a horrendous after taste. You are better off going to Dunkin or Central Perk for bake goods.

I ordered a vast assortment of pastries for my daughter's bridal shower and I was so pleased with how everything looked and tasted. Delicious, fresh and beautifully decorated. Everyone was so impressed with the selection. Prices are great too, much cheaper than my local area. Thank you so much for helping make this special occasion more memorable. To be fair, this is just a review for their chocolate cupcake. The staff seemed very pleasant and the selection looked diverse, but my chocolate cupcake was only a two star affair. It was only 85 cents, and I definitely got what I paid for. Tasted like the chocolate frosting on Dunkin Donuts; sickly sweet and had been out long enough that the frosting had hardened on top, and was very soft under the initial crust. The cake was similar in flavor, but decently moist. I would use this place if I were serving children that didn't appreciate quality, just quantity and whether or not there are sprinkles. Can't beat the prices.

Our daughter's birthday cake was light and delicious. Almond cookies were moist and very dangerous because I couldn't stop eating them.

Had a great time with the fiance and her family today picking out what will eventually be our wedding cake. This post will be updated after our wedding in June, but so far the process for which to pick out a cake design and the insides of the cake was great. The person who worked with us has an art degree, and my fiance has very abstract ideas by description that the worker could almost perfectly put onto paper for her. Awesome so far. Look for an update in July! Also, there is parking right across the street in a large, public and FREE parking lot!

I love bakeries. I really do. I might be spoiled because of all the great bakeries in New York, but I think Bing's Bakery is mediocre at best. The cookies taste dry and overly sweetened and the cupcakes and cake slices leave a weird aftertaste in my mouth. I can honestly make better baked goods from a Duncan Hines box. Pass.

Believe it or not, although I grew up in Newark, I'd never been to Bing's until yesterday, since my parents' preferred bakery had always been Cannon's. I was on the hunt for a sweet afternoon snack, and my go-to ice cream place (UDairy) was closed for the holidays, so I figured I'd give it a try. I ordered the following: A mini eclair, a vanilla creme puff, a chocolate covered piece of layered pound cake, and a chocolate cupcake. The fillings of the mini eclair and vanilla cream puff were somewhat flavorless, which was disappointing. The layered pound cake was a bit better, but the main flavor I tasted was the chocolate ganache coating, which was reminiscent of commercial cake icing (the kind for sale in the grocery store). I've definitely had better chocolate ganache--including ganache that I make myself. The best of the items, by far, was the chocolate cupcake, which tasted appropriately chocolatey, and had a delicious chocolate buttercream icing. All of the items tasted fresh, more or less, with the cupcake tasting the freshest. When I was younger, I think I would have liked Bing's a lot more. However, now that I've tried goods from several bakeries in Pittsburgh and Philly, I have more exacting standards, and I wasn't impressed. While the selection at Bing's is much larger and more varied than that of most other bakeries I've tried, I have to wonder if this negatively affects the quality of the goods for sale there. I've never tried cake from Bing's, but based on the quality of the baked goods, I must concur with my parents' assessment that there is better to be had in the area.

Bing's was my family's go-to bakery when I was little, and I'd really love to post a better review. Sadly, the bakery I remember has been sold. It happens. Bakery products are just fine. I found everything to be overly sweet. Their cupcakes fall victim to the typical way-too-much frosting treatment, and the underlying cake is nothing to rave about. However, the real problem here is service: they are convinced that the customer is pretty much always wrong. Bing's is a contracted baker with our wedding venue, and we stopped in for a tasting. Everything was just OK. The cake samples were dry, but we thought that maybe they had been sitting for a little while before we arrived (which, in hindsight, is really no excuse when you're SELLING WEDDING CAKES). But, given my sentimental memories of the yummy, perfect birthday cakes of my childhood, we decided to order a small cake as a trial run. It was the best mistake we ever made. Oh, what awaited us. Dry, stale-tasting cake. There is no way this was freshly made to order, and if it was, they should get out of the baking business. Immediately. We were expecting a jam-type raspberry filling, but we got that unappetizing, cheap gel donut filling with nary a raspberry in sight, but loads of chemical/fake flavoring. The icing (which was that cheap sugary junk, NOT the buttercream we ordered) decoration was sloppy and obviously rushed. The overall effect was mediocre at best, and decidedly NOT up to wedding standards. Had this hot mess shown up on our cake table, I would have been appalled, then furious. When I called to give them feedback and hopefully right the ship, no one - and ESPECIALLY not the wedding cake coordinator - really wanted to hear it. I don't think they're terribly receptive to constructive feedback. We opted to cancel our order, and went with Cakes by Kim, who produced a beautiful, delicious cake that everyone raved about.

I enjoy Bing's because they excel at the few baked goods I struggle to make myself... the desserts with flaky, crisp, or delicate crusts that take a lot of time and practice to prepare well. (Actually, my pies are better, but I can say that anywhere.) The large variety of cookies and low price also makes Bing's an excellent resource for supplying snacks at a meeting or event. I have a hard time resisting the urge to stop in for a snack whenever I pass by. I've had numerous of their cookies and pastries and have yet to come by one I didn't like. I don't know what many of the desserts are called, but my favorites tend to be those with cherry fillings, cinnamon, or almondy and buttery flavors. Cherry triangles, the almondy cookies with a chocolate dollop in the middle, and the lemon balls are the items I come back to most regularly, but the donuts, bread rolls, strudel, black and white cookies, brownies (superb amount of chocolate), cannolis (not too sweet), and plain old sugar cookies are other describable and delicious desserts that jump to mind. That said, look elsewhere for your soft, fresh out of the oven cookies, because that's not their style. If you want something warm other than coffee, get a sticky bun and take it home and refresh it at a low temp in the oven (or impatiently in the microwave). Mmm. But I can't say anything about the frosted cakes or cupcakes (which I simply don't like no matter who makes them) or candies (which I only haven't tried because I'm still working through the many types of cookies!).

I really, really, really wanted to give this place another try after Buddy's intervention but I was sort of disappointed, again. Last time: Asked the girl if there were "fresher" cakes (around a 5pm on a Friday) because I was bringing it to a friend's house for a little get-together. The girl seemed a bit insulted and I apologized but quickly explained that I've been burned way too many times with cakes in NJ and this is why I ask. So she pointed out a couple of cakes, one of which I pointed to and purchased. Well, when I was at my friend's house, I wanted to get under the table when I started to eat my stale, tasteless, and almost inedible cake slice. There was really a part of me that wanted to box the rest of it up and bring it back to the bakery the next morning but I let it go. This time (after renovation): The place looks cute (I thought it was cute before anyway) and they even have a little section off to the side with different flavored cupcakes (my weakness). So of course, I ordered a couple and then grabbed a triangle-shaped white chocolate treat that looked promising enough. I get home and the icing on the cupcakes is hard (ok, so they were refrigerated) but that wouldn't affect the taste. I check the "cake" part and one of them is stale (the other one fresh). All in all, not tasty and quite underwhelming. As for the triangle treat (I don't know what else to call it), it was inedible. I love to support small businesses and I wish this place all the best in the world. But the only time I have come across something good from them was at a dinner I attended with a cake that had been custom ordered. Therefore, I think your best bet is to order ahead for an event. If you walk in there, it's going to be a toss of the coin.

They're breakfast-y pastries are awesome. The bread/rolls are really good too and if you get there early in the morning they have day old bread for $1 which I definitely think is a good deal. Haven't had too many of their other items other than above listed. Friendly staff!

My finacé and i went to bings to get a cake for our wedding. The cake samples were OK. The basics, chocolate and vanilla were fine, but the other flavor types were too dry. However, our complaints come in with the service. During our consultation, I showed the "baker" some pictures I pulled off of the internet, and in a very condescending and rude tone she says to me "Do you think your are on the cake boss?". I was appalled, but yet the appointment continued, and she showed me some cakes that she "might" be able to do. We left the bakery and she said she would call within a week with pricing information. HOWEVER, she NEVER called back, not event to tell me that they wouldn't be able to bake the cake. I thought that was extremely unprofessional. I took my SAME EXACT picture from the internet to another bakery called Sweets to You by Gingers Inc, in Wilmington, and they are going to make my wedding cake exactly how I want it. Short story long, I will never be going back to Bings! I didn't even want to give it the one star, but yelp forced me too !

Bing's did a fantastic job making our daughter's first birthday cake. We took a picture of a two tiered fondant cake and they were able to create it exactly like we wanted for a reasonable price. They even made a matching "smash" cake for a very low price.

I like Bing's. They are a family owned bakery and have satisfied my sweet tooth craving many a times. The eclairs are full of homemade custard and the cannolis have a thick smooth creamy filling that will definitely give you a heart attack. Try their Napoleans - so rich and flaky and full of thick whipped cream frosting. Mmmmm. Decadent.
