Fresh it is NOT! This food tastes like shattered dreams and missed opportunities. Probably the healthiest option in the brand spanking new Delaware Welcome Center, Baja Fresh has your generic American Tex Mex cuisine but was not even worth the saving the few calories by not grabbing a cinnabun or fried chicken. The service was both slow and disinterested...too many people standing around doing nothing while the line was way longer than it needed to be (shoutout to the older Asian gentleman who began the assembly line quickly). I should've known that my burrito was going to be depressing when I saw the old (read: NOT FRESH) ingredients be slopped onto the tortilla. The final straw was seeing a girl squeeze sour cream out of a spout as if it was tooth paste into some ladies taco. Definitely avoid, stop trying to act cute and go get your fried chicken strips from Popeyes. Lesson learned.

Havnt had this in a while, so why not. I ordered a chicken burrito ($7.59), was pretty good. It did the job. You could pick several toppings to it. The only item they charge extra is for guacamole. I also ordered a chicken quesadilla ($8.29). This comes with a quesadilla (your choice of cheese and meat). The plate includes guacamole, sour cream, salsa, and tortilla chip. For the amount of people here they had to serve they were pretty expedient. Also the portion were a little above average. Everything was fresh.

Driving from NYC to MD, this is usually the best place to stop during the drive for a quick meal and bathroom break. I was looking forward to getting a burrito, as Baja Fresh seems to be the most reasonably priced food in the Welcome Center. The other places jack the prices up. Anyhow, I'm standing about 20 feet back from the Baja Fresh counter looking at the menu, and notice a tall slender, tattooed hispanic guy standing at the ingredients, waiting for someone to approach so he can make something. As I am looking at the menu above his head, I notice his right hand go up to the side of his face. I then see him full on dig his finger into his ear. I'm talking full penetration, FINGER IN EAR, with no regard for anyone that may have been looking. The worst part? He WAS WEARING HIS GLOVE while he did this. After the finger picking, he proceeded to wipe his nose up the length of his left arm. He then returned to simply waiting by the ingredients for his next customer. No glove change, no napkins to wipe his face. Nothing. DISGUSTING DISGUSTING! This guy is working with food? Appetite lost. (***I don't like to stand close enough for the workers to ask me for my order if I am not ready yet, that's why the guy thought noone was paying attention to him) I turned to walk the other way, and saw another Baja Fresh employee at the soda fountains in the middle of the food court. I walked over to him, and told him what I had just witnessed. I asked him to NOT point me out to the offensive employee, because I didn't want to get shanked before I left the place. I still couldn't believe it...a full on gloved finger in the ear, and this guy was going to continue making food like nothing happened. I shudder to think how many boogers and ear wax has made it into the food prepared by the clueless idiot before I pointed him out to a co-worker. Is it standard practice to NOT train the food handlers on health protocols? I was grossed out by this for days, as it seems like a serious health violation. If anyone from the health department wants to reach me, I can provide the date and time of my stop at the welcome center.

6 bucks for a cheese quesadilla with sour cream, guacamole, fresh salsa, onions, and salsa verde on the side. Portion was big and satisfying, and the flavors of everything were great. I'm kind of picky when it comes to guacamole, I can only have it fresh or else it has a kind of dried cat piss flavor (my opinion, not fact), and I loved their guacamole.

Bottom line: DO NOT EAT HERE!!! I was served a burrito that a bug crawled on while they were making it. After a "little friend" as the man behind the counter referred to it made contact with my still unfinished burrito they took the contents and dumped it into a different tortilla. Disgusting. I protested but was basically ignored. I paid for the burrito but I couldn't eat it because I couldn't get the idea out of my head that there might still be a bug inside. I was starving for the second leg of my bus trip to NYC and will NEVER go to Baja Fresh again.

Such a terrible, awful place. First the location. Don't just plug the address in your GPS, because it's not there. That's what I did and it took me to the University of Delaware. While an interesting pit stop, could have lived without that. So after looking for 30 minutes + for this Baja Fresh, I gave up and went back on the not-so- freeway. Then a couple exits up, I see that it's inside a truck stop. Fine. After all the time I invested, what's a little more? I did just get back from LA and could go for a decent burrito. Decent burrito not. I went to the place, the food was not fresh. They didn't grill the burrito. They didn't melt the cheese. It tasted like the burrito I found under my bed last week. Which is a little like my foot. I saw on the counter that there was a Baja Fresh Franchisee Owner's Manual - so maybe these people just don't know what they're doing - or don't know how to read. There are organizations that combat illiteracy - I suggest the owners/operators/managers/anyone who has to wear that awful uniform take the time to figure this out. Other than the old foot burrito I had, and all the time I wasted finding it, I got annoyed because there were plenty of other tasty options in that truck stop that I could have eaten at and I didn't. You know you made a bad choice when you have regrets over Burger King.

Baja fresh corporate should crack down on this place that is insulting the name. I had a burrito that was disgusting and far from fresh. Seems like the food was sitting out all day. There was somethings hard in my chicken burrito. The service was slow. The customer in front of me took 5 minutes to pay..I took 20 seconds. Why are people so incompetent? Wait on a slow line for horrible food..never again. Fire these lazy lowlifes and find harder worker people. If they don't want to do their job, don't pay them and pay someone else. I wish I could give fewer than 1 star. I was afraid to eat the food, but I paid for it and was so hungry..I should've just walked away when the cashier line took too long. Never again. Boycott this place and get it shut down due to lack of business.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
