Good place for a diner style meal. I ordered scrapple with pancakes. The pancakes were a little over cooked but my family reported that theirs were good. Service was good and we got waited on and food arrived quickly.

Food was "ok" but not beyond that, but a burger & a hearty breakfast took almost 45 minutes to get. Not sure that it wasn't the kitchen as the waitress was "ok" (but not beyond that). Don't be in a hurry, it'll be a while.

Went for breakfast- was really good. Had the fruit salad- was very fresh. Ordered eggs benedict- was huge - came with 3 eggs and hashbrowns. The eggs were cooked perfectly- not hard which is how many of the diners end up over cooking theirs. Hubby had a Mexican omelette- he said it was really good his only minor issue was the salsa provided was a bit spicy but he managed to eat it anyway. Coffee was great- wait staff was attentive and food was delivered fast. My only complaint was it was a bit dark - more light would've been nice.

It is a solid diner. I come here for all meals whenever I haven't mad anything up for the day. The staff is always friendly and the pies and cakes are exactly what you imagine they will taste like when you see them. And the are reasonably cheap.

Since moving to Delaware I have been trying to find a place that is similar to a Jersey diner and have not had much luck until trying here. While it's not a Jersey diner it's close. I enjoy their chicken cordon blu it is the best I have had in years. The cheese bread is great. Go there for the food there is not much atmosphere but the staff is friendly and the service is good. Have had breakfast, lunch, and dinner there and have enjoyed them all.

Overall a great diner. The interior is laid out a little strangely. I wish there was a bigger counter to sit at to make it more diner feeling. There are about 6 seats at a tiny counter, but it's very awkward sitting there because the waitresses seem to use that counter for food and drink prep. I had an egg white omelette and asked for onion, pepper and spinach. The omelette was delicious, but they forgot the spinach and added mushrooms which I hate. Luckily they were big enough I could pick them out. The coffee was very good.

I ordered the clam straps with fries. It was very good but, it was mostly French fries and very very little clam straps. But overall it was a pleasant experience.

I sometimes have mixed feelings about this place but regardless I keep going back. Service is usually pretty good here but you get some newbie waitress sometimes who isnt completley on their game. Typical diner though, which means lots of food for cheap amount of money! All the breakfast items are good and their dove daily specials have always hit the spot. Desert is expensive but the cakes are delicious. The biggest perk to me is that they are open 24/7. Not the best meal in town, not even on that stretch of road really, but late at night after working. a night out of partying with some friends, or early in the morning its a nice place to stop and get a good meal. One thing is for sure, you wont ever leave this place hungry.

We stop here in our travels and always have had a nice experience. This is a typical diner with an extensive menu. The prices are very reasonable and portions are large. We have had salads, sandwiches and burgers here. It's kid friendly, too. The service is excellent.

We stopped in for a bite to eat just before 1am on the way home from a concert in Philly. My expectations weren't high, so I was pleasantly surprised. The waiter was very prompt, friendly, and conscientious. The food (we each ordered a burger and fries) was delicious. And the selection of desserts on display, all apparently made in house, was amazing. I got a cannoli to go, and ate it on the way home. I definitely now have a go-to spot for after midnight nosh on the way home from points north.

Good food and nice sized portions. I appreciate the special menu (up to 10pm). The chopped steak is my favorite item with the gravy on the side and onions.

It's a diner. You're not going to get gourmet food. So turn off the cooking network and join the rest of us on planet Earth. First of all, it's a 24 hour restaurant, a vanishing breed. Second of all, their menu is HUGE. There's something on the menu that you will eat, I guarantee it. But really, just eat from the daily specials menu. There's a good selection and it's all pretty good. Having worked an odd swing shift I've eaten here many times on my way home in the wee hours off the morning. Being that they're within 100 miles of the ocean, I get the fish quite often. Salmon, flounder, halibut, all good. Simple service, broiled and stuffed, but tasty and filling. All the portions are generous. The service is great and their in house baked cream cheese rolls are delicious.

These folks are awesome! They really hooked us up. We needed a place for a large gathering on short notice. We had some biscuits and gravy, lots of pancakes and loads of eggs and omlets. It was a great experience and much less expansive than if we had hosted the group at our hotel.

Delicious food and great staff. I come here frequently and am never disappointed. They have breakfast, lunch and dinner foods as well as a huge selecton of desserts. For dinner, there's an option of a 3 course meal. I've never tried it, but it seems like a great deal. My favorites are the lasagna, grilled chicken sandwich or the cheese steak subs. The sandwiches and subs come with french fries and a cup of soup, both which are delicious. All pasta comes with soup or salad. The Golden Dove Diner also serves alcohol and has a huge selection of desserts. The place can be a bit dive-y, particiularly on Friday and Saturday nights and especially after last call. However, everyone is usually pretty nice and quiet and is more interesting in playing with the little jukeboxes or watching one of the 5 TVs throughout the diner. Overall, one of my favorite places to go when I feel like diner food. I highly recommend!

It's open 24hrs a day and is cheap so I cannot expect the world. I came in for brunch after a really long night of drinking and all I wanted was a decent breakfast. I had the pancakes and they were way too dry and tasted like the grill. I suppose I will try them again when I am less hungover but this is a last resort type of place.

I had went to the Dove Diner (24 hour restaurant) for an early Sunday lunch. I was seated at a booth with lots of families with young kids nearby. I was initially given a breakfast only menu, but I requested a regular menu, which is quite extensive plus breakfast is served all day too. The breakfast menu offers eggs, omelettes, hot cakes, French toast, waffles, sides, and more. On Mon-Fri (5AM-11AM), $3.49-$3.99 breakfast specials are offered. The regular menu has steaks, chops, chicken, seafood, sautes, Italian dinners, salad platters, apps, sandwiches, Philly cheesesteaks, hoagies, comfort entrees, desserts (cakes on display, puddings, ice cream treats) and more. They offer plenty of daily specials and mini meals (smaller appetites). They offer 22 complete dinners for $9.99 or 2 for $17.99 which include soup or salad, entree, soft drink, and dessert (pudding, jello, & ice cream). The dining room has both booth and table seating with a small mini jukebox at each table, and a small waterfall wall divider. The mini jukebox had mostly selections from today including the Now series, and Nelly Furtado. The dial on my jukebox would not turn past Carrie Underwood. As I was getting up, my booth seat shifted and the patron behind me, though not sitting on the adjacent seat, became annoyed. This diner should really SECURE THE BOOTH SEATS so as to prevent unnecessary shifting. I ordered the Lasagna special ($9.99) and started out with a Diet Pepsi and a cup of seafood bisque (really a thick chowder), which was very creamy with potatoes, fish & crab meat, I did bite on a small crab shell. The Lasagna was baked and served on a large metal plate, which had lots of ground meat, thin layers of ricotta filling, firm noodles, tomato sauce, and lots melted mozzarella cheese, a geneorous portion. The taste was a bit salty, so I needed a refill on Diet Pepsi. The butter garlic toast (buns) was good for dipping in the sauce. I chose rice pudding ropped with whipped cream for dessert, which was warmed and too sweet for my taste. The service was good. At first, my waitress was very anxious to take my order, while I quickly decided on what I wanted from the extensive menu. The food came out in acceptable time and I was given refills on Diet Pepsi when needed. The total check came out to $9.99 (zero percent tax)before tip. 3.5 stars overall for the atomosphere, decent food, and value.

Wow! If the Golden Dove was an easy drive from home I'd probably never eat in. The fresh baked rolls were piping hot and awesome, the salad (eg torn iceberg) was large and fresh, the chicken salad was fine, the clam strips were as good as it gets, great fries, and all this with sodas and dessert included (which we declined because we were so full) was $20. Yup. $20, and delicious. And the service was fine too. The quintessential diner experience and an insane bargain.

Came here on our way to Ocean City, Maryland (from New York) and it was a nice halfway point. Definitely hit the spot for a quick, cheap, and ordinary breakfast. Our server was really nice too. Good spot for all you northern travelers heading down to Delaware/Maryland.

Not to bad. I'd have to say the best dish we ate tonight was the mozzarella sticks. The marinara was a little sweet but overall good. I had biscuits and gravy. Pretty good. My girlfriend had the hungry man breakfast and we split some of it up between us. Again, overall good. Great service too! Honestly that's what gave the fourth star. Always had refills, food ca,e out quick. And she was very patient with us.

If you can get over the dumpy run down appearance, this is a great place to have breakfast. Really good prices, it was $7.99 for eggs, bacon, sausage, home fries and pancakes. I would definitely come back.

This was my first time there, I've never heard of the place before I found it on Yelp. Food was good, decor needs some care and updating. Staff has character and are friendly. I would probably dine here again in the future, if I was ever in the area.

Stoppped in here on my way to Virginia Beach and this is really convenient location. I sat at the counter, which only has about six seats, but they also have a bar area. This place is a classic diner food. Got the Patty Melt special, which was good and the perfect size for me. The food came out quick, though I believe it helped to be sitting at the counter. What I will say was this place was packed for a Monday morning. Not sure if that's the normal crowd, but a good indicator that the locals like the food.

Met a friend here because it was a central point. I had a salad. Does not really remind me a diner rather just a denny's type place except cleaner. Might go back if the the mood strikes me as I could take it or leave it.

I was surprised that we randomly came across this diner and it was so yum! I had the gyro and boyfriend had the cheeseburger club! Both were great!

This place was a great value and the service was terrific. We descended with 7 kids and 7 adults after a long day at a robotics tournament. One mom said as we entered: "when I used to waitress, we would be the nightmare table." The waiter kept his genuine smile throughout, and kept us all satisfied. The food wasn't extraordinary, but we all had the $9 specials, which were very acceptable, and we got out of there for only $11 each, including 27% tip. There was a very decent selection for $9 (soup or salad, entree, and desert) plus a much bigger selection at a variey of prices.

Cream of Crab soup is awesome... Cheesesteaks are really good as well. Dessert Great too. Pretty decent!

The service was excellent! Our waitress is the sweetest. This place is bang for your buck. It's not a fancy breakfast place. It's comparable to Denny's. The decor is of an older diner. There's plenty of free parking in their lot. Upon arriving, we ordered a Corned Beef Hash and eggs. Normally that comes with Corned Beef, Hash browns mixed in, and a side of eggs. But we got choice of toast, choice of juice, choice of drink, and fruits, all for $7! Say whaaaat?!

What a dump! Arrived about 1:00 am. My coffee cup and fork were dirty. I ordered shrimp and they gave me marinara sauce instead of cocktail sauce. So greasy and dirty. Robert Irvine or Chef Ramsey needs to visit.

Stopped in at 1:30 AM on a Sunday when I was on the road. When I entered DINER into my GPS, this was the closest one to where I was. This is not in the best of neighborhoods IMHO, but hey, a girl's gotta eat. Looks a little dive-y from the outside, but I know, with diners, that can be misleading. I was seated immediately although there was a crowd of people in the place (a diversity of age groups but mostly 20-somethings). The place wasn't particularly diner-like; more like a 1970s formica-topped-table & mismatched chairs type restaurant. But clean & friendly with heavenly smells, rotating dessert case & a bakery counter. My hungry eyeballs brightened when I saw the menu. At the top it said, THE ORIGINAL GOLDEN DOVE DINER SINCE 1995! You know, old school. ;0) Lots of selection here including all different kinds of breakfast (this place is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, which I love!). I was feeling Italian food so I perused the choices. Lots of veal dishes with spaghetti. I thought, Hmmm, eggplant Parmesan? But they didn't have it. Then I saw "Veal Parmigiana Romano" & was intrigued. It's a veal cutlet, breaded & fried, topped with ham, eggplant, & provolone cheese, with a side of spaghetti & tomato sauce (or gravy, if you're from Jersey). Lots of dishes on the menu noted that the dinners were "complete." Such a quaint 1950s word! I think that means you get soup or salad, the entree, & bread. My entree was $15.79. I asked what the soup of the day was. Stephanie - who was a great waitress, friendly, bubbly & efficient - told me Italian Wedding or Chicken Noodle. I went with the former. She rushed me out my diet Coke. Soon a little cup of soup - filled to overflowing - along with saltine crackers was placed in front of me. It wasn't Italian Wedding soup, which I consider to be oregano-flecked chicken broth base with tiny meatballs. This was minestrone, a rich vegetable soup with Italian flat green beans, tomatoes & elbow macaroni. I didn't really care & it was good! It didn't have a million chunks of potato in it which I consider to be a ploy by the restaurant to just fill up the soup bowl with something cheap. It was hot & good & tasted homemade. I worry when I order veal at lower-priced restaurants (& some higher-priced ones; see my review of a German restaurant). I'm always worried I'm going to be served something that looks like the breaded bottom of my shoe. But I needn't have fretted at the Golden Dove because oh. My. GOODNESS this veal was good! Stephanie brought me out this platter - yes, a platter, like one your mom would serve the pot roast on back when you were a kid - of food that was piping hot & smelled like a trattoria in Roma itself. I mean, this was a huge plate of food! The spaghetti's sauce looked better than jarred or restaurant distributor food sauce. And the veal. Okay, it was a breaded, crispy-crusty piece of veal about the size of 2 decks of playing cards put side by side (yes, nice & thick too). This was fresh veal, not a chopped-and-formed "cutlet" from Costco. On top was a slice of deli-style sliced ham which had been frizzled separately on the grill (that made such a difference between a mediocre dish & a 4-star one). On top of that was a thin slice of fresh eggplant with the purple skin still on (nice presentation). That was topped with red sauce & provolone. The provolone was good-quality & was just right with the sweetness of the tomato sauce (the sauce was a bit too salty for me though, but I feel that way about most restaurant food). One bite & I realized I'd made such a good choice! It really fed my soul. Stephanie checked on me & was good with the all-important after-entree-service followup & to refill my diet Coke. It bugs me when a server goes out for a smoke after they've carried out the entree & you don't see them again for 20 minutes. I ate half my veal & half my spaghetti. I didn't get the bread that was promised by the word "complete" on the menu. I would have eaten it, but it didn't really matter. (But you should bring out the bread & butter, servers, even if it's not asked for.) Stephanie brought me out a box, a plastic bag, & the check (which I had called for). Stephanie also told me that she had taken the job (her second) at the diner because she & her husband were trying to buy their first house. They wanted to settle by November 1, 2009 (which FYI is the deadline for first-time homebuyers to get a tax writeoff [thank you President Obama, I love you]). She said she had 2 kids - 4 & 2 - who really missed their mom when she was at work all night at the diner. So if you're in the neighborhood, pop in & see Stephanie & OVERTIP! Tell her Kathie (the first person to order the Veal Parmigiana Romano on her shift, she will remember) sent you! Altogether my bill was $21.88 ($17.88 + a $4 tip). I wanted dessert, but I had to get home & it was late! Or early! But my belly was full & my soul fed. Thank you, weird computerized woman's voice on my GPS!

Clean place with a friendly, friendly owners and staff. As many of the diners are in Delaware, a Turkish family run the diner, and they know how to prepare American favorites like Lasagna, steak sandwiches, spaghetti, salads, all the diner faves. The staff was anxious to please our large unruly group, and worked hard to deliver hot, well cooked food. I recommend the specials, $11.99, 2 veg, salad or soup, and the main dish. You will get a lot of food. The lasagna is probably the winner here. The chicken caesar salad (bemoaned by Michael Ruhlman as what is mediocre about American cuisine) was anything but mediocre. Large sliced of grilled chicken on good, fresh Romaine. Beautifully prepared. This is not gourmet food nor do they have Turkish specials on the menu (wish they did...but then this IS Delaware and why tempt trouble) The decor is bright and there is a wall of water, sort of a glass lengthwise fountain that is very relaxing to have as a background. They treated us very well and we will be back.

Staff, very nice and attentive. Menu way to big. Had the $8.99 lunch. Came with salad with a bug walking across it. Not a roach just a random bug. Waitress replaced salad but kinda put a damper on rest of meal. Huge portions. Pulled pork ok. Tuna melt ok. They do serve hot bread with a honey type butter. Zero atmosphere. Id give 3 stars if not for bug in salad. Prices are very reasonable.

I am sitting here right now with two of my girlfriends and I ordered the St paddy's day pastrami panini and it was great, it could have used a little more flavor, maybe a horseradish mayonnaise, sauerkraut, or even coleslaw would have put the cherry on top. Service was great, French onion soup was one of the best I've had from a diner. Definitely would recommend and will be back next time in the area.

An undiscovered breakfast place. Its like finding treasure in Delaware. Why didnt i notice this place before? Because it is not big on its advertising. If you drive past it on the highway, its almost impossible to even notice this place. It has a white backdrop with dove diner written on it in Red letters. But the food!!!! Unbelievablly well cooked. The omlettes were fluffy with and cooked just so right and so perfect. The burger was perfect....with the right amount of crisp and freshness. I had the veggie burger. People...if you are looking for good food, I mean cooked by a master chef, this place is it. I am humbled by the prices and every bite brought back life into me. I am coming here and bring all my friends. This is an undoscovered and under appreciated place I feel. And the best part, It is open 24 hours for breakfast. Love love love it.

The food was good, service was horrible, I had to personally get up twice and get my own ginger ale because waiters was M.I.A. I'm not sure I will return.

Atmosphere isn't amazing and the place needs a renovation but the food and service is excellent. Prices are extremely reasonable. This is a great alternative to the new Jersey turnpike rest areas on your way north or south. Five stars for the fries. Five stars for the kids menu.
