After moving our RV to a resort in Delaware last August my wife and I have dined at Sparkies 4 to 5 times and have really enjoyed each experience. Most recently, the past two weekends, we enjoyed a regular seafood dinner one weekend and crabs the following. The service was wonderful. The staff friendly, helpful and very attentive to our needs. The seemingly very short wait for our food was very surprising and runs counter to the moniker of " Lower Slower Delaware" that this region has been labeled with. The food was great. Clams Casino were very good I assume, never had them before, I liked what I ate. Crabs were OK, but that is typical for this season it seems. I would recommend Sparkies to all my friends and family without hesitation. I am completely surprised by the previous negative reviews here, it's as though we're talking about two different places. Thanks for reading. Frank

Stay away! After an hour and a half wait for our food, limp fries, no flavor in the scallops, raw shrimp. Was hoping better under new management. Very disappointed. Bad service!!!

We moved to the area and this was the first restaurant we went to after unpacking. As new residents to the Atlantic coast, I was craving seafood. It took them 45 minutes to bring our appetizer...which was fries. My boyfriend got the chicken parm. The sauce was extremely sweet and tasted like there was something rancid in it. I got the soft shell crab basket, which was all breading, no crab. We agreed to not go back. We then saw the sign said under new ownership, so we went back...bad idea. We ate at the bar and had to ask the server (same waitress as last time) specifically for EVERYTHING (silverware, ketchup, drink refills etc.) The crabcake sandwich was about 1/4 size of the bun, which was very dry and awkward to eat. While I was eating, another person sitting at the bar threw a fit because he had been there for over an hour and was never given a menu. The owner was behind the bar and didn't seem to have anything under control. Just by observing the bar, almost everyone was very dissatisfied with the service and the food. Horrible everything.

Ok where to start. If your in the mood for cheap boozze this is a great place, but if your looking to eat a decent meal please venture to another location. Let me just mention these few things and maybe you will get the picture. Tri colored chips nachos with flourecent nacho cheese and frozen baby shrimp and too many jarred jalapeños. Pasta with no sause but asked if we wanted maranara thats used for the frozen motz sticks. Frozen gray patty on a crumbly bun called a hamburger. Kids burnt hot dog and pre sliced to let any flavor or fat drip out. Over dry and crumble bun. If your middle aged have nothing going on at 2pm and looking to get loaded and eat a pound of steamed shrimp this is your place otherwise save your money and look otherwise.

I am giving this review one star, however the people who dined with me said if they could give it no stars, they would. The waiter, beau, was excellent, however the rest of the meal was not so good. My dining companions suspected the food was pre packaged. The check was $91 for 4 people. I know that it was impossible for the food to be pre packaged because a packaging company would never serve rotten slimy turkey on a sandwich. They did comp the rotten sandwich and substituted with something that was actually edible however I would not recommend anyone stop their car in front of this restaurant ever. The manager did offer us a free drink...

This is a brown paper on the table crab place. The crabs are excellent!! So good, this is our 2nd time here this!! Landlubber food is great as well. Great for families and couples. Fun and noisy! You won't be sorry you came here, guaranteed!!

Just went back again! $7 for a dozen clams and a pitcher of beer! Thank you!

Brought the family in to Sparkies for Saturday dinner. The place was busy and not unreasonably loud. We got fantastic value for our money. The food looked and tasted homemade (including the kids meal fries). Kitchen was slow but not unreasonably so given the volume. Service was very attentive. The only reason its not 5 stars is due to the kitchen slowness, which given the obvious popularity you think they could cope with a little better.

Sparky's is an excellent alternative to higher priced restaurants in Rehobeth Beach. The seafood was just as good and as well prepared as a Rehobeth Beach high end restaurant we ate in a few days before.

I love it here! Atmosphere is good, service is wonderful with such nice staff, good pitcher specials on beer. Last time we were there I had a burger which was perfectly done and coconut shrimp with the best dipping sauce. Friends had pulled pork sandwich, the sampler and soft shell crabs. Everyone loved their meal. The server told us that always have soft shell crabs which is nice to know because they are usually hard to find unless in season. We are going again tonight for the $0.50 wing night! Overall a nice place to bring the kids or have some beers with friends with good atmosphere and great food and service. Don't let the dancing crab out front scare you away!

We took out of town family there last night. We have been there many times before. However last night was a terrible disappointment. Yes it is a holiday weekend. We sat at the bar and our server Emily was working her butt off. But she was overwhelmed. We waited an hour to put in our dinner order. Then, after another hour, our food came out COLD. The kitchen manager, Anna came out and told us to stir our food and it would become hot!! REALLY???? Did Anna ever take a physics course?? Emily did comp our drinks and did try to apprise us. But it will be awhile until we return!!

Average food, unbelievably slow service. Don't think I'll be back on a weekend.

medium crabs are small but full. could also be spicier. service was slow the last two times there but has been fast in the past. other than crabs, the food has been very good. coldest beer around.

Stick to crabs, hush puppies and beer and you will be fine...don't venture any further...

I really wanted to like this place. They probably should have done an extended soft opening before Memorial Day weekend. Their staff clearly needs more training, and the food is way below par. The wings are so tiny that I think they came from a pigeon...and I know that wings are naturally dark meat, but they shouldn't be black. The dressing for the salad was warm (hello food borne illness). The potatoes tasted like they were cooked earlier in the week and re-heated in the microwave. Everything else was just blah. I didn't order the crabs, but the table next to me sent theirs back. The service is mediocre at best. This could be because they just opened and are still working out the kinks, but there was just some basic stuff that any server should know...like refilling drinks, or not leaning up against the wall talking to other servers like you have nothing to do when the place is packed. I'm willing to give them another shot once they've been open for a few weeks. Unfortunately, unless they make some major changes, I don't think they are going to make it. Its too bad too, because if run right that place can make hand over fist.

This restaurant was really bad. The waitress was awful and got our orders wrong. The fries and food was floating in grease. The prices were ridiculous. I have little doubt that it will last longer than a year at the most. Just terrible!
