$6 burger night. I kept seeing it on Facebook, but this time it got my attention at just the right time and gave me some incentive to get out of the house instead of cooking dinner. $6 burgers? Seriously? At Abbott's Grill? That's a good deal for a Monday night. It's not all the burgers, mind you - their bison burger runs $13.95 (I've had it several times, it's good) and they have a Black-n-Bleu Burger on the regular menu that's around $12. You're not getting those for $6. But their Classic Cheeseburger is usually $8.95, and you can get that for $6, plus the chef comes up with two special burgers each week. This week's were the "Flying Hawaiian" (Grilled Pineapple, BBQ Sauce, White Cheddar Cheese) & the "Homerun Howard" (Chili, Sour Cream & Mixed Cheese). We each had a "Homerun Howard" (without sour cream for him and with it on the side for me, I wasn't too sure about sour cream on a burger, and he doesn't like it at all) and they were pretty damn good. And the $6 burgers came with steak fries. And there was fresh art on the walls since the last time we visited.

Hands down the best restaurant in Milford. The food is excellent! The chefs really know how to add an extra flair of flavor to old classic dishes. The dining room is quaint and dimly lit. The servers are always attentive and courteous. However, on my last visit to Abbott's, the bartender was a little snippy and the calamari was on the really greasy side. The brie, however, was absolutely delish!

Let me begin by saying WE DID NOT GET TO EAT AT ABBOTT'S GRILL! I have food allergies and dining out can be very difficult for me. That being said, the atmosphere was AMAZING! Very calm, peaceful, elegant and a little fancy. We sat and looked over the menu and while prices were a bit high, it is a higher class of dining so that is to be expected with fine dining. After looking over the menu, I realized that there wasn't really anything that I could eat, as the food is very seasonal. The waiter was very understanding about the situation and encouraged us to try again next season as their menu is, in fact, seasonal and will change. The experience, although we were unable to eat, was very enjoyable and greatly appreciated!

No better food and drink in the Milford area! We have been several times. The Fish and Chips and all the seafood dinners were amazing. They also have a wonderful selection of local microbrewed beers. My Wife especially likes their salad offerings. We even tried a couple of the homemade desserts, and the Key Lime Pie was out of this world.

Enjoyed the Easter buffet with family this afternoon. The place was busy and the food was good. I thought that it was odd that we had to order drinks without a drink menu available, but overall, service was fine. I coulda used a refill on that coffee. The dessert table was very good indeed. I'd like to go back to try something off their regular menu, and probably will do, eventually.

Stopped in here for dinner on the way home from the beach. Three of us shared the scrapple perogies which were awesome! They have a nice light blue cheese sauce on them. One had the 19.99 prime rib special which came with mashed potatoes, salad and dessert. It was pretty tough to cut and he was not a fan. Had the clams which had bacon in the broth. Just okay. Also 50 cent wings which were really good. Had fresh blue cheese crumbles on top. Friends burger and fries were really good and are on special Sundays for 6.99. We shared the dessert that came with prime rib special which was a brown butter milk cake with fresh homemade whipped cream. it was one of the best desserts EVER! Also the 2 guys working the bar were great! Giving 4 stars for service, price, wings, dessert and burger. Would just skip the prime rib and clams but will come back for sure.

Oh my goodness!! The blackened Mahi with bacon and a sun-dried tomato alioi on the freshest softest brioche roll was incredible! Otis, is on it serving and is a top notched! He knew the menu and advised me properly. They are fortunate to have him working there.

Excellent innovative recipes and interesting combinations make this the best restaurant in Milford far ahead of any others. We've never been disappointed by anything. The staff is attentive and provides consistently good service. Nice atmosphere but don't really recommend for very young children. Bar can get loud if there's a band and you're dining late.
(5)Tim W.
What a find!!! Lunch was fantastic, ordered two specials that were well presented and awesome!!!! Bartender (Chris) was friendly and engaging. Will most definitely detour for this place again!!!
(4)Diana W.
Never ever had a bad meal here. Great food, great patio and good service. Recommend the calamari! Only one thing could be better - they are located in a odd little strip mall, so from the outside you wouldn't know what a great place this is. But once inside it is amazing!!
(5)Charlene G.
I arrived with high expectations based on previous reviews but boy was I amazed. The service and food was far above EXCELLENT. I travel to Lewes, Delaware for work 2-3 times per year and always stay in Rehoboth. This time I chose Milford for a change and so GLAD I did, because I discovered Abbott Grill. Happy hour oysters were sweet and tasty. But the pan fried John Dory with local asparagus risotto and wild mushrooms was HEAVENLY. PLEASE, if you order this- DO NOT add any seasoning until you taste it. It was perfect! My highest compliments to the chef. And the service was friendly, prompt and excellent. Ask for Chris and you won't regret it! I will definitely return here.
(5)Thomas N.
lunch recently on a ride to the south, meandering layout, nice bar, special cheese steak was pretty good, the oyster caesar was great, nice place with entertainment....
(4)Katrina C.
The first time I had Abbott's was at the beer and wine festival in Dover, I had the pulled pork tacos and was immediately in love. We have been to the restaurant a few times and have always sat in the bar. The bartenders have always been really friendly and attentive to us; they take and bring our orders out right away. The pulled pork tacos are always a must, as well as the short rib tacos. Both are served with a chipotle aioli that is to die for!
(5)K M.
I wish I could give them a lousier review. Their business hours say 9 AM on Sunday. Father's Day. Closed. Restaurant recording says they open at 4 PM. Thanks for ruining Father's Day. REALLY, REALLY RUINING. WILL NOT BE BACK EVER!!!!!

I just returned from eating here and throughly enjoyed my meal and craft beer. This is as good a gastro-pub as I've eaten in in quite a while and easily stands up to any I've eaten in across the country. Realize my 5 stars is for bar and grill/ pub restaurants, but I would have been very happy with the quality and service at a fancier place. I ate in the bar which wasn't busy on a Wednesday. Great craft beer selection and knowledgable server who was happy to switch the TV to baseball. Tasty specials of truffle soup and pan fried chicken on a bed of veg. When can you eat that at a bar and grill? Very nice. Milford and travelers I hope you support this place, because it was a treat!
(5)Andrew S.
Menu: a bit eclectic in my opinion. High quality and attention to detail. Atmosphere: nice for a business lunch or for date night. Staff: very nice.
(4)Rob M.
Had lunch in October 2014. Portion are huge had chicken burger with a salid. Older place but it's a nicer place for it's surrounding. Lower, DE. parking is on site and the restaurant is located in a shopping mall. It also has a catering hall attached to it.
(4)Donna S.
Had lunch in the bar late on a Friday afternoon. Bartender was great (Chris?). Solid selection of draft beer, including a few from nearby Mispillion Brewery. Had the Caesar Salad with fried oysters. Excellent. The dressing wasn't terribly authentic, but was creamy and tasty anyway. There were 6 plump, lightly fried and breaded oysters as well as fried capers, bacon, tomatoes, avocado, and croutons. Loved it. Also had the bison burger which was tasty, although a tad overcooked. Great place for an upscale lunch.

Came here for my brothers bday dinner because it's supposed to be a nice restaurant. The inside does seem pretty nice, but I had a lot of issues with this place and wouldn't come back. The menu comes with specific side dishes, or in some case no sides, and if you want a substitution they charge $4+ for them. We came on a Sunday so they had a "prime rib special," which did seem like a good deal (salad, prime rib w/mashed potatoes, and mousse for dessert). The other 3 members of my party all ordered the special (2 medium, one well done). The two "mediums" were very undercooked and were not eaten. I got the cavatelli . In my life I have never finished a pasta dish in a restaurant, this portion was so small I actually finished it (honestly it was mostly vegetables with very little pasta). The waiter was nice, but didn't ask my brother if he wanted his beer refilled, or refill any of our sodas, and when everyone else was given mousse for dessert, I wasn't asked if I would like a dessert. If the food was better I could overlook these things, but it wasn't worth the price, or the drive from Lewes.

We went here while staying in Milford, it seemingly being the best restaurant in town. I did enjoy my dish, but there were several issues with other dishes that necessitate subtracting a star from my initial 4-stars. Before the meals came out, we had a dip and chips that were good. Must not have been too memorable, because I don't really remember what it was. I got the veggie panini with goat cheese. Was very good. My grandmom got the brie appetizer, she enjoyed hers as well. My aunt got mushroom bisque. It had a burnt flavor, we first were not sure if this was intentional or not, but decided that the flavor was too strong to be intentional. Must have been a burnt bottom of the pan. My sister got the salmon cake sandwich. It was pretty bland, tasted like there were little-to-no seasoning in the dish. She said her side was good though, was some sort of mayo-dressed salad (cole-slaw-ish) My mom got the oyster chowder. I tried 2 oysters and they were good, but she said several were raw (YUCK). So when going here, avoid anything complicated and stick with simple dishes. Maybe the chef was having issues that night (although it was not busy). I would give them another chance, but not sure how others in the party would feel about that.

I came here for a meal with my mom and here friend who lives in Milford. I get a chuckle when I read reviews stating this is fine dining. It's in a strip mall next door to a social services office. Maybe for Milford, but not DC. Even with reviewers calling it fine dining, it is marked as casual in the Yelp description, which is more accurate. There is a large bar to the left when you enter. Our server was absolutely cordial and welcoming. He strongly suggested we check out the brunch buffet. I had no intention on ordering brunch, but I relented and checked it out. For $12.95, it's a bargain. They had three types of made to order omelets listed, but when I spoke to the chef standing nearby, he said he could make mine anyway I wanted. So, I chose to go with the brunch, and an avocado and cheddar omelet. They also had huge bagels with five different kinds of cream cheeses including smoked trout, smoked salmon, and chive. My omelet was perfectly cooked. The fresh baked sweet breads were delicious. Mom had a juicy cheeseburger ($8.95) and her friend had the Mahi Mahi BLT ($12.95) with a huge piece of blackened fish on it. All in all, a great meal for three for under $40.00. If you live in Milford, or stop here on your way home from the beach, Abbott's Grill is a good choice with a great variety of reasonably priced menu options.

Once again we had a super time at dinner! We came for happy hour to get the delicious oysters in the bar and Nancy overheard that we were concerned about our friend in a wheelchair and the high bar tables. She jumped in and immediately got us a table in the dinning room and said she would extend the happy hour prices. The service was superb, the food was excellent, and we were treated with a very rare and appreciated level of care that will have us coming back often. We aren't regulars who might expect some special treatment, but they really made us feel we were. I can't recommend this restaurant enough!
(5)Duane L.
Great food and beer. Summertime is the best on the back patio with a good beer/bourbon and your favorite cigar.
(5)Jack W.
Maybe we caught it on a bad night. It was busy. Everything was just OK.
(2)Jo K.
Walked in and it's totally empty for lunch....that should have been a sign for me to leave. The menu is very limited and way overpriced. The decorations are from Kirkland's at best! Tacky and confusing as to their style with terrible lighting. The "homemade" pita chips and hummus are gagging! The pita chips have so much onion powder it's hard to swallow the first bite! The chicken salad sandwich lunch special literally consisted of about 2 Tablespoon of onion and chicken on what literally looks like a hotdog bun. And the soup was nothing far from ketsup and sugar. Very disappointed and this is not fine dining. On the positive....The waiter was very nice and the place is very clean.

A year later, another birthday.. We go here more than just for birthdays, but now we are done. We had very sluggish and terrible service most of the night. Finally we are done, paid and leaving, and we find out why we had bad service.. Our server was hanging with friends in the bar. So we are done with Abbott's.

So we came by here because we wanted good food on our way home from the beach. Everywhere else near the Rehoboth Beach had about 1-2 hour wait. So we drove towards home, and about 30 minutes later, we yelped a place and found this. We totally found it and it was 10 minutes away, so we didn't have time to make reservations. It's kind of in a remote area off of the high way. I got the shady vibe from it. We were on the highway and the gps told us to make this turn into a small road with tress and farm area around. But, at the end of the long road, there's a small plaza where Abbott's Grill was located. The only complaint I have about this place was that because we were in a group of 9, they didnt have available space. So, they found a reasonable solution, which was split us into two tables. But I felt like the seating was so awkward because its a table of 6 and then across from it in the middle of the room is a table for 4.. They had plenty of good specials. We got the fried Calamari and the tuna tartare with the spicy mayo sauce for appetizers. The calamari was really good. It comes with arugula and blue cheese. I don't really like blue cheese, but the rest of the dish was really good. The tuna tartare was good too. It came with really salty long triangle chips, but I thought they were too salty. For our entrees, I had a hard time choosing because I really wanted the cajun meatloaf, but they ran out. Then I wanted the mushroom ravioli, and again, they were out. So I settled for the crab spaghetti. My boyfriend got the Herb grilled salmon, and my friend got the new york strip steak. I didn't really like the crab spaghetti too much. I just thought it was kind of bland. I just ended up eating the spaghetti and dipping it in the sauce and picking out some crab to eat. I didn't bother too much with the tomatoes and stuff in there. My boyfriend really enjoyed his herb grilled salmon. He loves salmon, and he was pleasantly pleased. My friend also had a really big new york strip steak. He wasn't expecting it to be so big. It was really juicy he said. The mashed potatoes that it came with was really good and creamy too. The service was really great. The waiter was so nice and attentive. It makes up for the whole seating problem. He even gave my boyfriend free ice coffee. He knew we had a long ride home. My boyfriend asked if they had iced coffee. He said they didn't. He came back in a couple minutes with regular coffee and a cup of ice. He didn't even charge my boyfriend for them. My friend that was sitting on the other table also said he did the same thing for him, but he had asked for hot coffee. MUST TRY; Fried Calamari, New York Steak, Herb Grilled Salmon SKIP; Crab Spaghetti

LOVE.. LOVE.. LOVE this place! Went for a date night and was very impressed! Located in a strip mall I was weirded out about going but the menu was so fresh and delicious!! The service was amazing and just had a very romantic atmosphere for a late night date. highly recommend this place to everyone!

I went to Abbott's Grille for a birthday party like 2 years ago, and just never thought to write a review. I grew up in Milford. Its a cute, working class small town that doesn't offer much in terms of bars, restaurants, or night life. That said, I just love the fact that Abbott's exists. It's nice & it's different. Good food, nice atmosphere & decor. The party was in a large dining room near the back & there was an outdoor seating area with a fireplace. Fun times. Yes, its in a strip mall. The building Abbott's Grille is in used to be a Sav-A-Lot grocery store in the early 90s. -_-

This place has totally gone downhill. For a place we would frequently go to for great food/service, we will not be back. Its really sad because we would rave about the place to many of our friends. Our server Jeanie was TERRIBLE. Inexperienced and rude. By the time she showed up to see if we needed anything, we opted out of getting an appetizer because we had already sat for 15 without being greeted. We ordered bison burgers, which came out WELL over cooked (almost inedible) and were NOT bison burgers. The server was running around like a frantic lunatic, yet the restaurant was not busy. She had 2 other tables, which were already eating and we couldn't figure out what her problem was. Our food came out from the kitchen, and our server NEVER came to ask how anything was or if we needed anything. For all she knew, we may have never gotten our food. We ended up getting ketchup and more utensils from the bartender. About 10mins after we finished she came to see if we wanted our check. Never asked about the meal. We paid, left and won't be back.

Stopped in on a road trip after seeing some yelp reviews. Burger was delicious! The wife had a chicken cesar salad and said it was very good as well. I'd recommed this place for the burger. Can't say much for the environment and dinning experience, we got our food to go because we had the dog in the car on our road trip.

Abbott's is a fine dining want to be. They play the game, but the service and food is not worth the price.Went there for dinner last weekend and tried to order the meatloaf. I was told it was not ready and to choose something else. My friend tried the tuna and it was so hot and spicy that she was in tears trying to eat it. This place is located in a strip mall and they play this upper end game. It might be good for Milford, but in the real world it is a below average , over priced, restaurant.
(1)Seth K.
Worth the out of the way drive from Rehoboth Beach to stop here for dinner. Especially if you're on your way home to the DC area. This restaurant has an interesting history too - fine dining in central Delaware. I mean, why not! And that's only half the restaurant. The other side is a local bar/hangout vibe but with a beer and wine menu that's still hipster without turning too trendy or cliche. Very family friendly, good if you're traveling with kids. Frankly, Central DE needs a place like this and I'm happy Abbott's fills the gap. I will be returning. (knocked off a star because when we were there it was after a long holiday weekend so many of the menu items and most of the specials were sold out and my steak had to get sent back for being overcooked. but minor stuff overall. looking forward to returning and bumping up that last star)
(4)Kylara W.
Abbott's Grill seems somewhat unassuming being located in a strip mall, but it's so convenient and the food is great. My family and I occasionally visit other restaurants in Lewes and Rehoboth, but this is such a wonderful restaurant so conveniently located in the heart of Milford. I have only eaten in the restaurant side, but the more casual bar side is a nice option to have. We love Abbott's so much that we've have arranged to have a birthday dinner on the outside patio and we're really looking forward to it.
(5)Eric S.
I visit Milford regularly and this is always a favorite stop. The food is consistently good and wait staff very friendly and attentive. We went to Easter brunch which was a great experience. One of our party was very elderly and they were very accommodating to her needs. This is Milford's fine dining establishment and one to be proud of.
(4)Derek B.
Food is amazing! We are from Michigan and heard about this place from friends in Delaware so we stopped to check it out and loved it! Calamari was delicious as were the duck enchiladas. Staff was helpful and friendly. Can't recommend highly enough!
(5)Kelly J.
And to think that I had all but given up on Milford... As far as upscale dining goes in this town, we had Geyer's, The Executive, Smith and Co... all closed now. I honestly thought that there was no market in Milford for an upscale restaurant. Thank you, Abbott's Grill, for proving me wrong! As it turns out, Milford is very welcoming to fine dining--they were just waiting for somebody to get it right. A friend and I ate dinner at AG recently, the first time there for both of us. At 8:00 on a Saturday night, the restaurant was busy, but there was no wait to be seated; the bar area was beginning to fill up as well. Our server was very courteous and helpful throughout the meal. We began with drinks: a Blueberry Lemonade for my friend, and a Bald Jason (the house drink--definitely recommend trying it!) for me... both were delicious, reasonably priced and generous in size. All of our dishes came in plentiful portions, and we were very satisfied. The Pear and Arugula salad was complemented by the perfect light dressing! The Crispy Calamari had a great texture, but I would have liked a bit less sauce on the plate, as it was tasty but somewhat overpowering. We couldn't resist trying the Apple Scrapple Flatbread out of curiosity. I really can't compare it to anything I'm familar with; it was unique but good. I might not order it again, but I'm glad I tried it, and I think it's admirable that AG capitalizes on this local tradition. I am giving Abbott's Grill five stars because they have filled two voids in Milford (fine dining and New American cuisine), the service was great, and the food is simultaneously familiar, creative, and appetizing. I hope to eat there again soon!
(5)LD K.
Always Great! We eat here on $6 burger night. Expect some neat and good local produce and meats. Great beer selection A+ atmosphere!!! I have ate quail eggs on top of filet Mignon with a frog leg appetizer on one trip and good old meatloaf on another. The sky is the limit and the selection is sometimes for your adventurous side and everything in between.
(5)Thomas B.
What a wonderful find! Great, warm atmosphere with friendly service and delicious, creatively prepared food choices. The beet salad was especially memorable--with pecans, grapefruit, and pumpkin croutons! NY steak was perfectly medium rare and the bacon cheddar bread pudding was delicious. The entree special of venison bolognese rigatoni was phenomenal, as was the special pork cacciatore. The flourless chocolate torte with peanut brittle topping was an amazing way to end the meal. Like eating a fudge candy bar. Very good and extensive wine list. Prices very reasonable.
(5)Vince H.
I have visited Abbotts grill often since moving down here. After reading about it I decided to jump on the Harley and head over. Was a tad stunned to find it in a strip mall, but figured what the hell give it a shot. Glad I did, never expected the quality and service in a strip mall, go figure......ever since that fateful day I have been back numerous times and with different family members and friends....can honestly say that every visit was spot on....keep up the good work there guys.......
(4)Suzanne S.
Great food and great atmosphere. Definitely one of Milford's best. The Crispy Calamari appetizer is delicious. Food was real slightly heavy on the oil but still great. Portion size is very good. I wish they still had the Sunday Buffet Brunch.
(4)Aleta M.
Wow took us three hours drive from where we lived in Maryland, but such a great place to eat. If we were local it would the place to go all the time. If your in the area don't miss this place. Even though its in a shopping center that's old, this restaurant has first class fresh food that's awesome.
(4)Nick G.
Had an excellent dinner. You know the chef takes pride in their work when the salt and pepper shakers are not on the table. We started with calamari and Brazilian cerviche and moved on to two fish specials. My ahi tuna was exceptional over broccoli rabe. This place is a true gem in an area that has a dearth of fine dining. Lovely decor, a lively separate bar and attentive service make this a local gem or a nice place to take the 30 minute drive from the beaches.
(5)Daniel P.
Another lousy meal and I'll just hit the low points. Went again for my sisters 21st birthday dinner. The hostess wondered around the dining room the whole time with a pair of flip-flops that were noisy as hell. My French onion soup had enough sherry to get me drunk. I had shrimp and grits which the grits were runny as water. My dad had halibut which was dry and had a eggplant purée which was hands down the worst thing I've ever tasted in my life! Go to Georgia House.
(1)Darryl J.
Always good food and service. Went initially expecting fine dining - if this is what Milfordians call fine dining they're sorely mistaken - what this is, is an upscale restaurant and bar with great food and service.
(4)Evelyn G.
we ate brunch there while staying at the Hampton near by. I guess it wasn't that memorable or out of this world but it seem to be the best thing in Milford and worth going to if staying at the Hampton. Service was friendly. So there.

Some hits and misses at this interesting restaurant. To start, they bring some nice bread, which would have been better if they warmed it. The menu was a mix of Italian, classic American, Southern, and a few Asian dishes--all over the map. My mother and I ordered side salads (which were not on the menu). They came with a white balsamic vinaigrette dressing, which was sweet and tangy (very good). We shared the fried green tomatoes, which were themselves okay, but they were served on top of a sauce made with Tabasco which we did not care for (so I scraped it off). We also both had the 5 cheese Mac & Cheese, which we both agreed was very yummy (and a good size, although it would have been too much to eat a main entree and the side). I also had broccoli rabe, which I did not care for (so they didn't charge us for it, which was nice). My mother also had the French onion soup, which she usually devours. Their version, however, didn't have much onion and was very salty. My mother is a salt-aholic, so if she says something has too much salt, it must pretty much be entirely made of salt. My sister had a crab cake sandwich, which she said was really good and was almost entirely crab meat. The restaurant seemed to have a lot going on. Live music, cooking classes, a murder mystery theater; so if you're looking for something a little different this is definitely a good option. On the downside, the prices seemed a bit higher than other restaurants near the beach.

We. love. Abbott's. I will offer disclosure on my stars...5 for Milford, but I would definitely still give it a 4 if it was a place in Boston. And since we're stuck down here for work, its great to have such a delicious option in town! Food - delicious. The crab and artichoke appetizer is soooo good - serving it with warm baguette instead of pita or tortilla chips really adds something. Also, the chef prepared the calamari sauteed instead of fried in batter, as someone in our party had a gluten allergy, and it was PERFECT...buttery/garlicy/lemony goodness. Their "famous" frychos didn't quite live up to the hype, but they were as good as french fries covered in cheese and other nacho toppings can be. The dinners have also been consistently delicious - I've gotten the lobster mac and cheese (with truffle oil, sooo good), the crab cake meal, a variety of sandwiches...all delicious. I have no complaints on the food. Drinks - great beer selection, and the old bartender Scott described them all with such passion...even went so far as to say one beer had an "approachable" after taste (not sure what that means, but hey, if he backs up his beer selection with unique descriptors, I'm a believer). They also introduced us to THE BEST shot of all time, the chocolate covered pretzel. Ask for it, you will not be disappointed. And on Thursdays, they have "ladies night" martinis for $5. Even though I was in a party with two males, the bartender let the men have the ladies night price...although they did get mocked for ordering a lemon drop martini. Service - LOVE the service here. I've only ever sat on the bar side, so I don't know about the service on the restaurant side, but all the servers smile, offer great suggestions, and, as mentioned above, really believe in the product. Unfortunately, we discovered on our latest trip that Scott is gone, but we'll always remember the way that EVERYTHING on the menu was "rad" and a "solid choice". In summary, go here. If you're from Milford, frequent here. If you're not, drive here anyway. If you're visiting on business, spend your company's money here. Seriously.
(5)Steven P.
In "lower slower Delaware" we were astonished to find a place with a creative menu and great staff. Will be back.
(5)Chris C.
Had a fantastic meal here. Very upscale food uncharacteristic of the Milford area. Really not surprising since the owners have always been associated with the some of the best restaurants in the Rehoboth area. Surprisingly affordable with decent service. Has a hopping bar crowd too, but that doesn't interfere with the dining area at all. I'll be back!
(4)Stephanie D.
Great fresh food and amazing service! Good prices. Fine food and the portions are very generous, even for the kids and everyone just raved at how good the food was. Good atmosphere - fine dining but we went for lunch, a bit more casual. If you are near this restaurant in Milford, DE you must go. We happened to end up in Milford by accident and we thought it was the best mistake every since we found this excellent restaurant. We are still talking about how good the food was right from the start to the finish.

Great atmosphere!! Great food! Try the chicken n dumplings FO SHO

Hands down best "fine dining" in Milford. A group of 4 of us went for dinner on Jan 1st and every single thing we ordered was delicious, including: Romaine Wedge Salad, Crispy (and spicy!) Calamari, Pumpkin Gnocchi, Braised Lamb Shank, and Abbott's Pasta. Two of us ordered steaks which we also gave good reviews on taste and how they were prepared. We were too full for dessert, although they had quite a few that sounded great - the only thing I miss about the old tenant of this restaurant, Smith & Company, is their creme brulee cheesecake.

I have a beach home just north of Lewes, DE and get to Delaware most every weekend all year long. Meals there typically take place in restaurants and I have several favorites. One of my favorites is Kindle in Lewes and it was there that one of the wait staff mentioned Abbott's Grill. Finally decided to try it Saturday night, October 16th. Arrived about 8:00 PM to find a pretty empty dining room and an equally sparse bar. Waited a few minutes at the host stand after which my dining companion and I were acknowledged by the host (dining room manager?). He proceeded to bus and reset a particular booth for us even though there were many empty tables and booths available. I surmised that the wait staff had been scaled back and that he wanted us in the closer's station next to another occupied booth. When the booth was finally prepared, we were seated where we languished for a good while. Finally I got up and went to the bar and ordered and paid for our drinks. While waiting for the bartender to secure our drinks, she introduced a gentleman as the owner to her friends seated at the bar. It was obvious that I was dining in the dining room and that I was getting my own drinks from the bar rather than a server yet this somehow never registered with anyone including the fellow introduced as the owner. At the very least, I would have thought the owner might have suggested that someone take the drinks to the table for me. For the record, I would have politely declined but I think the gesture would would have gone a long way. When I was returning to the table with drinks in hand, a very pleasant waitress appeared and apologized explaining that our waitress was very busy and she was going to step in. Not certain what the distraction was given the empty dining room, but I was glad to have some one waiting on us. The young woman who rescued us was engaging and attentive. She took us through the menu and we ordered. I chose the French Onion with fennel soup to begin my meal. The broth was rich and the onions were perfectly caramelized. The croutons were covered with a great Manchego cheese. My partner had a spicy fried calamari dish served with Edamame and bleu cheese. He enjoyed it but I thought it just a bit overcooked. For an entree, I chose the Romano Encrusted Sea Bass over a vegetable ratatouille with a fermented garlic aioli sauce. It was excellent but I found it odd that the aioli sauce was ice cold. i get that it couldn't be warm or it would break down but tepid might be better than deeply chilled. My partner chose the Pork Shank with Brussels Sprouts. He was very pleased with it and surprised that the Brussels Sprouts that the waitress had talked into were actually great. We opted not have dessert and got the check. The check came to $70.00 before tip. That included one glass of wine (previous drinks were paid for at the bar) two appetizers and two entrees. I think it was a very fair price. I think the restaurant would benefit from some dining room supervision. As we were leaving, we passed a bus person who said goodnight but no one else acknowledged us including the host/manager who was coming in from outside on his cell phone talking about his upcoming golf game. I mention this because there is obviously some talent in the kitchen and this is an ambitious undertaking. Success for them will require a lot of attention to detail and I hope they soon focus on more than just the food. The dining experience for me consists of three elements: ambience; service; and the food. Right now the food is the star but that us not enough to sustain this restaurant. I hope they get the formula right. I would welcome a polished restaurant in our area.

Best dining in Milford! I had the crab risotto which was the best risotto I've ever had. Server was friendly and attentive and recommended a great glass of malbec. Only place I will dine next time I return to the area. Don't be put off my the strip mall location.

My husband and I met another couple there for drinks last weekend. It was our first time at AG. The bar was quite full but the service was still great! Adam was our bartender and he was very personable. He made us feel extremely welcomed. We will be back this weekend!

Abbott's Grill is a wonderful addition to a small town. It is some kind of cousin to Nage in Rehoboth Beach, and the menu is both broader and more inventive than Nage, in my opinion, albeit after only one visit to each. The Grill is located in an older strip shopping center, and don't let the location throw you off. Inside it is large, with various spaces that feel comfortable. The crispy calamari appetizer was the best calamari I have ever tasted. The squid was only the beginning of the flavor blend. Another great appetizer was the smoked tuna dip/spread. Serve was attentive and the waiter was quite personable. The restaurant name is a nod to a local landmark, Abbott's Mill. Prices are reasonable, even for local folks. We were surprised by our affordable evening out. This ain't Geyer's!
