My family and I went to TR here in Middletown for the first time yesterday after a day of errands and it was one of the most maddening and annoying dining experiences of my life. Instead of having a pleasant dinner with my family where we eat together, we did the tango of "one parent eat while other parent soothe infant" because of the abysmally-slow kitchen and unresponsive manager on duty. Pros: the taste of the food, when it finally arrived, was fine; clean restroom; friendly waitstaff. Cons: Screwed up our place in the wait line; Kitchen was pathetically slow; Manager on Duty (male in blue ball cap) was completely unconcerned, unresponsive, dismissive to the problems we experienced with our meal... I'd even go so farther as to say he was kind of a jerk. Arrival & Ordering: We arrived at 5:25, were told it would be about 20-25 minutes, took the electronic thing and proceeded to wait. At about 6:10, with no "buzzing" for the table having happened, I went up to the host/hostess stand to inquire... Come to find out that the hostess who set me up with the wait marker thing never actually put us into the computer. She just said "It'll be 20-25 minutes", handed me the marker, and that was that... So we waited extra, which isn't a horrible thing, but when you intentionally went earlier because you've got a 5-yr old and a 7-mo old, time isn't a luxury. We sit down, server finally arrives, we place our order (6:35) and wait for it to arrive. And wait... and wait... and wait... and wait. A ticket time of 60 minutes is darn-near unforgivable, in my book. Food Ordered: Wife had the beef tips... They were fine and relatively unmemorable... This was our first time at this location, so I ordered what should be a pretty standard meal of Ft. Worth Ribeye, baked potato, and vegetables. Like the rest of the food, my steak arrived nearly an hour after the order was placed. The steak itself was approaching cool and had clearly been sitting too long. I complained politely about this, the waitress apologized, and said she'd get a new one ordered up right away. A minute or two later, the manager, in his baseball cap and fleece actually asked me if instead of a new steak, did I just want him to warm the now-cool steak back up! Management: I swear to God I'm not a dining prima donna... I'm not wealthy and dining out with my family is not exactly a regular occurrence. When things go south like they did with this experience (screwing up the seating; 50-minute ticket time; cold ribeye; management unconcerned/unwilling to extend an olive branch), I'm not a screaming jerk. That being said, I find it nearly unforgivable for the Manager's only action at making things right being asking "Sure you don't want me to just warm it back up?". No discount, no comping the kids meal, no asking if we want a desert on the house... Not a freakin' thing. Not even an apology for things being as screwed up as they were. Our waitress couldn't stop apologizing, but that manager acted like my family should've been grateful that he graced our table with his presence! It is highly unlikely that we will ever return to this Texas Roadhouse location. I hope my experience is an isolated one, but not sure I'll be willing to take a chance on that.

I believe this is the 3rd or 4th weekend it's been open, and it's new, and it's Texas Roadhouse, and it's Middletown, so it was packed. Parking lot was totally full.. we parked in a semi-muddy grass/dirt field next to the parking lot with about 40 other cars. We called ahead, were given a buzzer/beeper, and were seated within 10 minutes of arriving. CALL AHEAD!!!! The wait at 6:30 on a Friday night was almost an hour and a half. CALL AHEAD!!! Service was fast, efficient, and VERY friendly. Tons of bus boys walking around, the manager checked on us, our host was friendly, making small talk on our way to the table. Our waitress was good - got us what we needed and quickly. Can you tell I like efficiency? The food was OK. This is why it was not five stars. I ordered a simple 8 oz. sirloin steak cooked medium. It came looking great on the outside, but had to have been somewhere between rare and medium rare. I can do medium rare, but the middle was extremely red, soft and mushy... not how this guy enjoys a steak. This is Texas Roadhouse. They specialize in steak. I've been to the Dover location probably close to ten times, and they've never screwed up my steak. I think some of the reason it was under cooked had to do with the rush, but Texas Roadhouse, you are a steak place, among other things. Don't screw up my steak!! Got the side of corn and it sat in a puddle of butter and pepper? Loaded with pepper! My wife's food was good - the chicken critters are delicious at this place. Can never go wrong with the loaded baked potato and the caesar salad was good as well. I'll be back again - it's so close! Service was friendly, food was mostly good, and it's a fun place to be. Welcome to Middletown, Texas Roadhouse!

I thought the second time would be a much better experience! It was worse! There was no wait to be seated but it took over an hour to get our meal. my husband and I ordered the bone in rib eye his was raw and mine was burnt! I could go on but I will take the drive to the bear Texas roadhouse

UPDATE 2: Second visit was great. Sierra was our waitress and she did a fabulous job. Called ahead again and got in right away. Food was what you expect from Texas Roadhouse. UPDATE: Management has made a good faith effort to rectify the problem. Will update again after revisiting. Well... I can't comment on the food, but it's not for lack of trying. On a Saturday evening, I called ahead at 3:20 to arrive at 4:20. Got there on time, got our pager, was told the wait would be 5-10 minutes. Sounds awesome! 25 minutes later, nothing. By this time, my young kids are starting to lose it. Checked in with the hostess and told 10-20 more minutes. How did the remaining wait time get longer than what they originally told me? 25 minutes later, my whole family is on edge. We've been waiting 50 minutes! Keep in mind we were told 5-10 and we called an hour ahead. I returned inside to hand in my pager and told the employee, "I just can't wait any more." Her reply was, "Ok, that's fine," in the most apathetic tone imaginable. Obviously, she didn't care. I get that it's Texas Roadhouse and the wait times are generally long, but they ought to be straight with people. There's no way your wait goes from 5-10 minutes to an hour and it's an estimation error. No one is that dumb. And what the hell was the point of call-ahead seating? If I go to Texas Roadhouse any time soon, it will be at the Bear location.

I've eaten here five times in the last six weeks and each time the food and service was good. One thing I really like is that you can order a small portion sirloin steak and it is just the right size for me. I've had it three times and the steak was done exactly the way I ordered it each time. Also for those looking for healthy eating they have three nice choices for vegetable sides: green beans, broccoli or a blend of carrots and broccoli. I've had all three and all were good. They have $8.99 early bird meals if you order before 6:00 pm. I had the fried chicken and it was good. Noise level can be a little high here. Service has always been good for me. They a bar with several TV's over it showing whatever sports are on. The one minor annoyance is the draft beer list in their menu is highly inaccurate. They really don't have on draft all the beers the menu lists. Oh, and of course there's a bucket of free peanuts at each table.

The steak was perfect and very reasonable for the cut (20 oz bone in ribeye). And who doesn't love a crispy bloomin onion. The bread was more like a donut, filled with sugar and the lemonade was mostly chemicals. I'll be back for the steak, however, the problem with this place is the service: clearly, the are struggling to read you the script they've been forced to memorize, and say things like "which from scratch dressing".. Their lines and the restaurant, in general, is filled with tricks to manipulate customers. It would be allot better if they dropped the gimmicks and let the staff be honest and natural and be themselves. Maybe let them dress themselves also. The steak is good, but will be even better without a side of steaming BS.

It is a very mediocre experience here - the steaks are not always cooked to order, the staff tries - they are friendly but I don't think they are a very organized restaurant. They can definitely provide a better experience for their customers if they took some time to organize the flow & make the food better. The beer is cold which is good!

First couple of times were ok experiences. This latest time we went was the worst. We waited FOREVER while EVERYONE around us got their meals. The waitress never apologized or even recognized anything was wrong and kept avoiding our table. Then when the food FINALLY came the steak was ok and dry. She didn't even take our drinks off of the bill as an apology for the service. I much rather get fantastic service and a delicious steak from the Bear location then Middletown's. Sad because I was excited a closer location opened.

Went on a Saturday night and the wait for a table was 60 minutes. We were told between 65 and 75 minutes. Once seated our waitress came right over and got our beverage order. Once she came back with our drinks we ordered. Everything was just as ordered and tasted great. I ordered a salad without cheese and my dressing on the side and that's how it came out. I liked that the salad plate was cold and didn't have a puddle of water at the bottom of the bowl. Our steaks were cooked to order and once we finished our waitress brought our check and picked it up without having to track her down.

Went with my children for lunch. Wait staff made it a sport to ignore our table. It was borderline discrimination. Manager and staff were congregated at hostess station goofing off. There are so many better options in region. We enjoyed throwing the peanuts on the floor.

Poor, careless, slow service. Food mediocre - steak ordered medium rare but overlooked to almost well done. Sat at the bar, tender said hello but never asked for our order for ten minutes. Gave them a shot when they opened since it was a new place....went back twice because it's close and we hoped they would hit a groove, but...no. Management needs to be aware and step in.

Just look around at the genius of Middletown and that will explain why a place with crap reviews is so busy. To start it is the typical assanine traffic pattern of this idiotic town just to get to the place. We thought it would be worth a try and all I can say is huge mistake. Go to 1861 for real food proffesionaly prepared.

The service was questionable. We sat at the bar, ordered a drink until our table was ready. We had an elderly person with us and when I went to the font desk to turn in the lighted device they give you, there were 6 young girls standing. I asked if we could get our drinks from the bar delivered to our table. They said you usually order drinks when you are at your table, I told her we were waiting in the bar. They said you have to cash out at the bar, I said my husband was doing that. All of them just stood there thinking of what to do next, I informed them we would take our own drinks. We had to ask for silverware, to take plates away, our dinner came 1 minute after our salad came. The servers were oblivious. We never did get more rolls for my husband. They didn't ask if we wanted coffee or desert. Food was okay. The place is really loudM

This is by far the worst dining experience I have ever had. Our waitress (Shawn-female) basically would not serve us, we never got to eat. First of all, my son loves their rolls. They weren't going to serve us any, we had to ask for them several times. It took over 20 minutes to get an iced tea, a soda and a beer. We placed our order for our food at the same time we ordered drinks. We ordered a Dallas filet and a pork chop meal. After 45 minutes the plates were brought out. The helper tried to give us a sirloin and pulled pork. We told her this was not what we ordered. Then they sent a man out, in an apparent attempt to intimidate us into accepting meals that were not what we ordered! There is a big difference between a dallas filet and a sirloin, and that is reflected in the prices on the menu. An 8 oz dallas fillet is $18.99, while the sirloin is $11.99. A $7 difference, and yet it was insisted that we accept the lesser steak. Which by the way was not even cooked to how the Dallas filet was ordered. Then there is the issue that we ordered a grilled pork chop, not pulled pork. In this case the tastes are very different, and the pork chop was for a child that is a picky eater. There was no way he was going to eat the pulled pork. Plus, we went to dinner to eat what we wanted, not what the wait staff wanted to force upon us. We had to argue with 3 different staff members to try to get our meal. It never came. There were no managers to be found. We ended up leaving without eating. The waitress actually expected us to pay for the meal. She acted like she was doing us a huge favor by having us pay for the drinks, but not the food that we NEVER received. And that she obviously had no intention of serving us. Shawn needs to be fired, she is not even capable of working at McDonald's. I view this as fraudulent in nature as well, trying to switch out a lesser cut of steak for a more expensive one is a great way to increase profits but lose a customer. We had been going to Texas Roadhouse for years. We have never had this bad an experience.

This only the second month this location has been open so I'm giving 2 stars instead of one. First of all the staff is totally unprofessional I think our waitress was the only one there over 17 but she was pleasant. It's okay to have a high school crowd serve you as long as they are well trained but here there is a McDonald's party atmosphere. My chilly had some good seasonings but was lukewarm at best. I ordered a 16oz club steak Medium rare which was more rare almost uncooked inside but the steak was decent after dousing it with salt and pepper. Fries were cold and soggy almost under cooked. Perhaps they were made way in advance to save time. Country music was way too loud making it very difficult to have a normal conversation. I might venture there again in a few months and hopefully they will get thief act together.

Been driving by place waiting for it to open (Middletown Delaware). Had dinner there last night (Saturday) - didn't realize u could call ahead for reservations and so waited over an hour and a half for table. Service good once we got seated - shared "boneless" chicken wings- basically chicken nuggets - limp, not at all crispy. Wife had prime rib - ordered medium rare -came medium well - I had the 23 ounce t-bone- order rare - came medium - side salads were good as were rolls and drinks. Basically expensive for what you get, added to that is the wait and there are more reasonable places with better food in the area. Personally Outback is a favorite of mine for steaks and prime rib and I use as a benchmark to compare similar chain places like Texas Roadhouse - not even close.
