After a tough week nothing beats a bowl of Pho. Number 43 is my personal favorite, with tripe. And the Blue Moon helped.

We took a chance on nhu vu because of the reviews. I agree with the comments about the blandness of the seasoning and lack of spice. My sister in law had the pho and considered it bland compared to others she tries. My veggie fried rice was pretty good. It wasn't greasy but lacked the level of spice I was expecting.

I've had Pho many times and this is my favorite Pho restaurant now. Good service, great food. The bean sprouts were very fresh. We had the spring rolls for our appetizer. I had the #34 and mt boyfriend got the #32. We both loved it. Super clean and we'll decorated. We will be coming back.

I don't remember really eating at a pure-Vietnamese place before and we were on the way home from OC MD and hit this up based purely on Yelp reviews and what was available in the exit we stopped for gas. This was a Sunday late lunch. I got a large steak, flank, and fatty flank noodle soup and it was so good and a big portion. The broth was excellent, the noodles were soft, and the meat was soft and tasted good. We also got a shrimp and squid pad thai and that was good as well. I would have tried apps but I didn't want to order too much. The food prices are lunch-comparable and the other reviews seem to be on-point. The decor is plain and the dining area is pretty big and open with lots of tables. I really enjoyed the food here and will come back if I remember it when we pass this exit again.

Really excited to try a new Pho place since moving to the area. Growing up on pho from amazing Vietnamese restaurants it's sometimes hard to compare. We got the teriyaki calamari and got the steak pho. The calamari was crispy and pretty good. The sauce that came with it just tasted like soy sauce. Now the pho! Upon appearances it looked like pho the aroma of the broth made my mouth water. When I tasted it it was meh okay. What really makes pho over everything else (meats, noodles, etc.) Is the broth! I had to use other sauces to make it more flavorful. There was also not that much meat which was disappointing. Perhaps if I go back I will try something else on the menu.

Driving from DC to Jersey, we stopped by a shopping center and noticed this Vietnamese place. My boyfriend and I were actually looking into having Bahn Mi - for those of you that don't know, it's a Vietnamese hoagie with peppers, pork/beef or chicken to your choice of liking with several other deliciousness in it. Unfortunately lol they didn't have it. So. We settled for the vermicelli which was pretty good! Vermicelli - has several veggies, pork, fried spring rolls and peanut butter sauce. (Good enough to share for two and always worth it!) Appetizers were steamed dumplings and summer rolls. LoooOOvedddddd the dumplings, they were delicious with the sweet soy sauce /fish sauce. As for the summer rolls, they were okay. But other than that the bill came up to $30, it was well worth it!!! Oh and you can't go wrong with Starbucks being right across the street ;-)

This is by far our favorite Vietnamese restaurant. Staff: They are so nice and welcoming. We stopped in during the winter once and it was so cold out that the woman, who I believe runs the place, brought us some hot tea to warm us up. We thought that was such a nice thing to do and shows just how friendly they are. Food: We usually order the chicken pad Thai, Pork vermicelli salad bowl (can't remember the exact name), won ton soup and chicken fried rice. All are absolutely delicious. The won ton, completely clear, as it should be. The salad bowl devine. The pad Thai and fried rice, are done well. Not greasy nor mushy compared to other places we've been to. Design: The place is clean and neat. Nothing fancy, more of a simple family restaurant. Very comfortable. All in all, we love it and look forward to coming back.

I loveeee Vietnamese food. They are so healthy and tasty. I come to this place mainly for their Pho. Reasonable price. Good service. You really should try this place out
(4)Tyler S.
I liked this place. The staff was friendly and nice, and the area was nice. I ordered the large Brisket Pho and was very satisfied. The portion was ample and left me full. Although I was pleased, I would have liked to have more brisket in the pho. I have yet to find a place with a good amount of meat in the pho. 4stars
(4)Lashonda T.
The decor is really nice inside. The wait staff was friendly as well. The sauce for the spring rolls seemed watered down usually is thicker. I ordered steak pho but i felt like I was jipped only got 4 or 5 pieces. The places ive gone definitely supplied more meat. I ordered a strawberry smoothie it was very thick to the point i had to wait for it to melt to enjoy it. Also it tasted more like a virgin daiquiri.

There is only one word to review Nu Vu... AMAZING! you cannot go wrong with anything you order. Simply the best Pho around!!!
(5)Nicki P.
Came back and ate the vermicelli bowl with chicken and egg roll... Yummy! I wanted to eat something light and this was perfect! Service was great!

Last visit, the bean sprouts for the pho were pretty much over the hill and slimy. Didn't see any hot peppers on the plate of garnishes. It's an ok pho, and since the middle of Delaware is a restaurant nightmare, we still go there a lot. But could be better. Won't stop patronizing them but hope they step it up a bit. The spring rolls were good but one shrimp inside was definitely not fresh.
(3)Maggy S.
Mixed results on the food - the seafood pho was bland and the shrimp and other seafood in the bowl tasted as if it had been frozen. I'm a huge fan of pho and have gotten spoiled by the Lotus Cafe in Silver Spring, Md. It's my Asian comfort food and I believe it will cure whatever ails you. We started with the summer rolls and they were ok. The sauce they came with was a bit gummy and didn't really taste homemade. My partner had a dish with rice -- it was a special and I wish I could remember the name -- and it was great. Lots of flavor and really tasty. I really, really love pho and I have to admit I was disappointed with Nhu Vu's take on it. I'd go back but I'd order something else.

We decided to introduce the kids to something different and thought it was time for them to try Vietnamese. The service was excellent -- both friendly and very efficient. We started with steamed dumplings and Summer Rolls and they were very good-- so fresh and the sauces were excellent. We tried the Bun Ga Nuong and Bun Thit Nuong and the Chicken Pad Thai for entrees and they were comparable to what we have received at DC area Vietnamese restaurants-- excellent! We would absolutely return and recommend giving it a try!
(4)Michael D.
Good not great. The vegetarians spring rolls were more reminiscent of Chinese food than any Vietnamese spring roll I've ever eaten. The tofu with lemongrass wasn't bad - a little too oily for my taste on the vermicelli but the sauce on the side did wonders for the whole dish. Yeah I'd eat here again - it was open on a Sunday evening and it wasn't a chain. Plus the folks were friendly.

Oh how I'd love a good Thai restaurant in the MOT area. This could be it, the first time we went it was like 'whew! I thought moving to a small town would mean saying goodbye to all the cuisines we've come to love, glad this place is here!' It wasn't astounding but it was delicious. I need to make a point here, dirty menus? If the physical menu they hand you feels slimy or has bits of food on it (I'm looking at you Nhu Vu, Mexican restaurants, and family friendly joints) I'm going to want to ding you two stars, unless your food is epic, then I'll see past it. The second time I was handed a dirty menu. The pho was less tasty, the food just seemed off somehow, not as delicious as before and less fresh tasting. We gave her one more chance and were disappointed even further with a repeat of our second visit. We may have another go in our ethnic desert and hope for the best but at this point I can't recommend it.
(3)Meggan R.
love the food the sping rolls are good and the lemongrass soup tastes amazing and feels good to eat. The food is consistently good!
(4)D K.
It was very blend, boring, shady place.
(2)Matthew N.
Super good for where it is. I was surprised to see this kind of restaurant in LSD. Coming from the other side of the bridge in MD I had zero expectations. The food is decent. Obviously not the best thing you'll ever have. The broth is ok, noodles are fine. if I lived to something closer I would probably go to that. But I can't complain. Its usually empty when I happen to be there, which is something I generally approve of. It means one of two things...garbage food or bad taste by the local consumers. I attribute the circumstance in this place to the latter.

On the drive back from Kent Island, MD to NYC, this little foodie gets hungry. We were in the middle of nowhere (or so it seems) and the trusty Yelp app finds Nhu Vu. I was enticed by a comment on another Yelp review "a Philadelphia quality restaurant in Middletown". SOLD. When trying a new Vietnamese restaurant, one gets the staple foods - yes PHO. Flavors were pretty good. It was missing lime. Using lemon is just not the same. However, for the area - the food is considered good - delicious. Enjoy!!

My friend wanted to go here so I called ahead and asked if they had vegan food, and the owner lady replied enthusiastically yes. I asked if they had vegan pho and was told yes. I couldn't believe it so I asked, "no beef, no chicken?" And she replied, "We know what it means, veggie broth." So we went out of our way to go there for lunch. I asked for iced tea but was given sweet tea instead. The pho did not have broth, instead they literally brought a bowl of plain hot water with noodles in it. I asked for soy sauce to flavor the hot water and was given plum sauce instead. I couldn't eat the "pho" so finally ordered veggie fried rice with tofu. There was no tofu on the place. The fried rice, however, was excellent. It's sad that they don't just recommend the fried rice or some other simple dish, that they don't just tell you the truth and that they don't even bring what you order. I paid for all the food, by the way. Am giving two stars for the good fried rice.

Holy crap!! Good food in Delaware does exist!!!! Why isn't this place blowing up?! Went to dinner with the in-laws and we were one of two tables being serviced. The place was empty. But the food was amazing! I had the vegetable pho-veggies FRESH and the pho was cooked to perfection. The basil served on the side made my mouth water with delight. The service was good except one entree was accidentally omitted. The chef quickly recovered, served the dish and even visited our table to check on everything. Everyone, all 7 of us, agreed that the food was delicious. Would definitely go back again soon. I'm telling all my friends too!

Tried this place for the first time. Service was prompt and friendly. I had the lemongrass chicken. It looked beautiful on the plate, tasted fresh and was nicely balanced. I will definitely go back and try it again. Surprised to find Vietnamese food this good in Middletown.
(4)Ryan P.
Great food!!!! A little bit of a wait but that's why it's not fast food. Fresh ingredients and great flavors. Don't go in expecting your usual Chinese dishes... It's not Chinese. So if your looking for that Middletown has like 10 Chinese restaurants if you looking for something authentic and delicious go here!!!!
(5)Mike W.
Great food and service. Portions where just right and everything was fresh. I will be coming back soon.
(5)Reece C.
Awesome pho at a clean quiet friendly restaurant. Highly recommend.
(4)Cyra C.
If you are from any major metro area with good Vietnamese, this will be disappointing. Not spicy enough and the only Asian restaurant I have ever been to where the rice has been half cooked. Given that it is a staple of our diet, getting rice wrong is the kiss of death. Won't be stopping in again.
(2)Catrina S.
We had the Beef Pad Thai, fried dumplings, lemongrass soup and crispy duck. All were delicious, the staff was very friendly. They also have a bar - we'll be back for a delicious meal in a relaxed atmosphere pretty often. Love the dumplings and wonton soup!
(5)Jeff L.
A taste of big city Chinatown (Vietnamtown?) in our own little M-Town!! Finally not another pizza, Chinese, sandwich shop! After spending years having easy access to amazing and authentic Vietnamese restaurants in Philly and after spending years earning our stripes eating bathtub after bathtub of Pho (rhymes with "Duh" and is the absolute staple dish of the country of Vietnam)...we decided to give this one a go. We were pleasantly surprised at the eye appeal, the authenticity and the mouth popping flavors of a deeply delicious Pho in our own back yard! The taste was fresh, the sides of bean sprouts, onion, Asian Basil, jalepeño, were snappy and fresh, the broth is light and crisp and tastes as it should of star anise and deep beef flavor...this is for sure the Vietnamese version of chicken soup!! If you go and order 'fried chicken' please don't complain too much, I don't get folks that go to an ethnic restaurant and order non-ethnic food and just stomp on it!? I highly recommend Nhu Vu Cafe, the service is by family and they care; please, if your a newbie order a LARGE bowl of beef (any of the many choices will do) pho. Order the grilled beef rice paper rolls for an app, and if you want another hot entree please try the special Vietnamese fried rice...you'll never eat the Chinese equivalent again!! This is a welcomed addition to our town and I hope we'll see other ethnic eateries come as well.
(5)Naomi M.
Underwhelming the cooks failed to make a simple poached egg which is one of the main reasons I ordered R14 I even returned the egg and the second was just as bad nothing special about this place I would sat if you want good food just bite the bullet and drive to philly
(2)Alison C.
We went for the Pho. The broth was boring and not very flavorful. I don't think we'll make the trip out here again.
(3)Michael R.
I was very surprised to see this Vietnamese restaurant in the back of a strip mall when driving down to Maryland, so we decided to check it out. I got the crispy duck and my wife and kids got a bunch of soups. The duck was good, but the soups were excellent; especially the crab soup. I'll definitely stop by again next time I'm passing through!

OK, so first off I never had Vietnamese food and although I think that I have a pretty decent pallet, I'm not all "Ooh I want Pad Thai" or "Ooh Pho, so cool". Frankly - and I'm sure that there will be hipsters who will roll their eyes and be disgusted right out of their skinny jeans about this comment but - I wouldn't be able to tell you the difference between Pho/Vietnamese and Chinese food. Heck, I could only tell food was Thai food if it had a ton of coconut in it. Anyway, Nhu Vu... So living in Middletown, DE you jump at the chance to try any new local restaurant, even if that local restaurant was named "Olde English Beef Boil" I'd still try it out. I went to Nhu Vu when they first opened and was "eh". But I really was sick of everything local so I found the take out menu that I picked up, jumped on Yelp for some ordering tips and was off to pick up our Vietnamese dinner. We got the Beef with garlic and jalapeños (based on reviews)and the Beef Pad Thai (based on the pic). We also had some shrimp pork spring roll thingys (based on review). It was good. They could have given us a little more rice but given the fact that we only ordered one dish that came with rice it was OK. The Beef with garlic and jalapeños had a little kick to it but wasn't so spicy that you would be sweating eating it. The Beef Pad Thai was good too. Again, I can't really compare it to other Vietnamese food because I've never had other Pho/Vietnamese food but compared to other Chinese food (keep your skinny jeans on) it was pretty good. I'll go back again and try to become more versed in the difference between Vietnamese and Chinese food, subtle as it may be. I'll be sure to get something Pho since that seems to be the thing to get. Anyway, staff was friendly, the food was good and it's something different, so they have that going for them which is nice. :-)
(4)Beth K.
If you like spicy, try the spicy beef with garlic and jalapeño. Holy firecrackers. It was delish and SPICY!
(5)Thomas P.
Found on yelp and went with my wife, son, and nephew. Everything you look for in a restaurant. Attentive waiters, quick service, good food. Portion sizes were ample. Haven't ever had Thai food before, so I can't speak to the authenticity of the cuisine, but everybody enjoyed their meals. Nephew introduced the wife and I to bubble tea, make sure you try it. Will definitely be going back.
(5)Marshal H.
This place is really awesome. The food is excellent but the service is truly exceptional. They are so nice and accommodating and you feel so very comfortable while you're there. It feels like you're at home.
(5)Paul A.
This is one of the best kept secrets in Middletown. Great non-greasy food and great staff. We get takeout every couple of weeks. The other Asian food restaurants in the area can't measure up.
(5)Shannon M.
Great quality Vietnamese food in Middletown! We had the summer rolls, stir-fried beef vermicelli bowl, and the stir-fried chicken with asparagus and all were fantastic. I've been to many Vietnamese places and this one is among the best. Clean, nice service, several regulars dining who all had good things to say, and great food. I can't wait to come back and try the pho.
(4)Scott G.
A Philadelphia quality restaurant in Middletown.
(5)Ken E.
I went here when I was recently in the area because of the reviews on yelp. Folks are correct, this is a hidden gem in Middletown. Food was excellent, service was good, restaurant was clean, and good value for money. I will definitely go back next time I am in the area.
(4)Meaghann S.
A friend introduced me to this place and I am hooked. The Pho soup is the best, any variety I have tried anyway. Prices are great and the service is good too. I usually stop by for lunch once a week and the quality is always the same.
(4)Linda D.
Nhu Vu is the best restaurant in Middletown! The homemade food is always freshly prepared. The price is reasonable and the staff is awesome. Ask them for recommendations if unsure. You won't be disappointed!! I've loved everything I've tried.
