It was my first time coming to this cafe. I LOVE all the decorations. It's different from others in the area. The juice is so good and refreshing. I ordered steak and eggs for my self and it was delicious! The service and waiter are nice and friendly However, I take one star out because my boyfriend ordered some food as well but the kitchen forgot to make it. And I ordered medium well for my steak but they gave me well-done. Overall it's my new spot thou. I'll give them a second chance for second first impression.

Stumbled upon Nectar two weeks ago and boy am I glad I did. Came in for a quick bite to eat around 3pm before hitting the beach and guess what time it was.... happy hour. Half off all appetizers and alcoholic drinks from 3-5 everyday. I ordered the grilled shrimp and the mac and cheese and I am still on cloud nine thinking about the grilled shrimp. The juice bar selection was awesome but seemed a little pricey. I don't know much about juicing, so maybe $6.95 for a 12oz drink is the norm. It you are looking for a quick bite that won't break the bank, Nectar is your spot.

Wow, this is by far one of the best meals I have ever had. First off you walk in and this place is absolutely adorable. The decorations are vintage but modern and has such a cute charm. The bar looked like it was made from restored wood. You are immediately welcomed with the fresh pastries and I was practically drooling looking at the giant homemade poptarts, pumpkin muffins and so much more. We went around 2 and were seated immediately. I really enjoyed how it wasn't too loud and it's much larger then it looks on the outside. We didn't order any juice because we wanted to save room for our meals. As a vegetarian, I have high standards and this definitely did not disappoint. I ordered the vedge but got it on ezekiel bread instead with the sweet potato hash. The sandwich was absolutely incredible and I am drooling thinking about it now. And the sweet potatoes were amazing. Oh and it comes with the biggest homemade pickle I have ever seen. My mom ordered the chicken pot pie and she could not stop saying it was the best thing she has ever eaten. I had a bite of the crust and it was heavenly. Hers came with a side salad with a delicious homemade lemon dressing. My dad had the avocado CBLT and it was one of the biggest sandwiches I have ever seen. He made yummy noises all though out the meal and on our way home couldn't stop talking about the sandwich. He got the buttermilk coleslaw and loved it. He tried my sweet potato hash and loved them. I did find a hair on my plate after finishing my sandwich and informed the waitress. She took my plate and unexpectedly the head chef came out to apologize and told me I wouldn't be paying for the meal. He then brought me out a fresh batch of sweet potato hash since I didn't get to finish mine and this batch was even better then the first. We ordered the chocolate avocado torte after reading so many good reviews on here about it. Honestly none of us really liked it that much. It's very rich and heavy and the chocolate is a little bitter. Although it's pretty amazing it was all vegan but I could't taste any avocado. I should have went with the vegan carrot cake. Our waitress then informed us that the dessert was on them as well. I was totally shocked and thought it was incredibly generous. Our waitress had great recommendations and descriptions. I only wish this place was closer as we were only in Lewes for a beach day trip. I recommend this place and can't wait to go back. My parents said we would do the 2 hour drive just to eat here. Wish we could have tried the breakfast as well!

Super tasty and lots of healthy options which can be hard to find at beach eateries. A solid establishment. Great decor, very good breakfast between shopping and the beach. Try it!

This place is adorable. We ordered sandwiches to take to the beach and my chicken salad sandwich was one of the best I've ever had. The sweet potato chips that came with the sandwich were very good as well. They also got points for getting our fairly large order right. I can't comment much on service and ambiance as we for our food to go; but the space looked adorable and the young women at the front counter were delightful. I hope to come back again before we leave Lewes.

Our experience was very different from the majority of people here. It was just a bit... weird. Firstly, we were seated at a table for two which was awkwardly in the middle of the room. Secondly, we ordered a juice which never ever arrived. When we asked about it 20 minutes later, our server said he would follow up. The girls at the juice area kept looking over at us and whispering to each other which was so odd....it was like they didn't believe we never got the juice or something. Finally another girl came over and asked if we still wanted the juice.... We said no thanks, don't bother as we were almost finished our meals. Then she tells us ok I will take it off the bill for you... um perfect because we never got it. Eek. Not sure I why I decided to do this but they sell cute food stuffs so I went to purchase a jar of home made caramel. I waited at the cash register for a super long amount of time and finally the girl behind the counter decided to walk over to help me. She took a very long time to try to ring up the jar so I mentioned it was $6. Three minutes later she looks up from the cash register and says "$6." Ok....................................... UGH. It's too bad because the food was decent but the weirdness of our visit made me not want to ever return again.

Breakfast & Dinner are the only experiences so far & both were stellar. These people know what they are doing, the environment is charming & the food is perfection. The PB&J meatball lettuce wraps are a combination that should not work but the spicy peanut sauce is so good it ties the whole thing together & the pasta with lemon, ricotta was incredible. Desserts! Um, gluten free carrot cake & avocado chocolate torte!!, 'nuf said

I stopped by Nectar for a late breakfast this past Saturday. It was busy, but the wait wasn't too long. The food was great, especially the sweet potato hash, and the service was pretty good. The restaurant has an eclectic, coffee shop feel to it and I loved the décor.

First - Quaint with some very friendly staff (our waiter was a little harried but everyone else was nice). Second - YUM! Now, it is a Juice Bar and we didn't partake (we were hitting the road for a several hour drive so we decided fresh fruit juice might not be a good idea but lots of others were having juice). The breakfast we ordered was delicious and just what we wanted. My husband had the breakfast sandwich with bacon, which was very nice and standard but the addition of some good quality grainy mustard definitely stepped up the flavors. I HAD to order the Green Eggs and Ham and was not disappointed - great flavors made me want to make Every bite the "perfect" bite. A substantial meal with good coffee was the perfect end to a lovely visit in Lewes.

Our company was having a meeting at nectar last week for breakfast. We had the most amazing service from Jen she acted like we were the only people in the entire place and it was busy, absolutely amazing . The fresh bloody Mary's and juices were brought to the table by a wonderful juice bar girl named Carin her smile and joy was infectious. The atmosphere made it feel very homey and very comforting Jen took absolutely the best care of me and my guests. I would highly recommend nectar for any type of breakfast or lunch and be sure to ask for Jen she will make you feel very special.

What can I say - this place is AMAZING. If you like clean but satisfying eating in a laid back café atmosphere (Wi-Fi & lounge area) that can also be a dinner spot; you've got your place. Not only do they have fresh juices and mixed drinks, but they have a full assortment of sandwiches, baked goods, and even full dinners. We went around 11am on a Tuesday so it was quiet (off-season) but it did fill up post-high noon. Steady stream of locals picking up carry-out as well. We got the salad sampler w/beet salad (amazing), quinoa and chicken salad (also super good). The food is amazingly fresh and flavorful - everything tastes homemade (and I know because I cook these types of things) and is refreshingly simple yet satisfying. Also got kale chips (perfectly salty and not over-done) and probably the best Bloody Mary I've ever had - literally juiced fresh and garnished w/house made pickle served in a mason jar. Go here for lunch or breakfast to try it - you will be glad you did.

Wow what a disappointment in service. After reading the reviews that Honey had terrible service we decided to give Nectar a try. It was a busy day, and the place was completely disorganized. The front counter workers were so overwhelmed they did not look up and even make eye contact with the long line of people looking for even acknowledgement. After being seated it took almost 30 minutes to get our drinks. After an hour an a half of waiting for our meal, I said something to our waiter who seemed apparently oblivious to the fact we have been waiting so long. (there are only 12 tables, is it that hard?). After another ten minutes we came out and told us it was another 10 minutes. 20 minutes later they brought out our food. Food was good, place was cute, but if you are looking for anything resembling a good dining experience look elsewhere.

Delightful whimsical decor. Delicious generous freshly prepped dishes. Loved our late afternoon lunch here - kids enjoyed the avocado chicken BLT; I had the perfectly prepared salmon citrus salad. Tasty fresh juices, yummy cakes, and friendly efficient service.

Wonderful atmosphere. A creative menu filled with my favorite food. So many great choices. Loved the veggie salad with grilled prawns and fresh lime aid. Would like to try the pecan French toast with vanilla ice cream and smoked salmon deviled eggs a other time! Check out nicely displayed antique dishes on back wall.

Where, Oh where, can my old waitress be...? Oh, where oh where has she gone...? Food was better this time. Our server even stayed interested almost until the runner brought our meal. Almost. Haven't seen her since. Forgot the water. Forgot to give us the wifi password. Pretty much just forgot about us. Maybe she'll come back? Hopefully, I won't have to pick her out of a police lineup.

Decor is twisted humor Anthropology. Food delicious. Juices on point. I loved the lavender egg white omelette. Kitchen is quick to send out food but wait for a table can be a long - hostess stand a little chaotic. That being said the hostess and girls at the bar are some really hard workers which is refreshing to see in Lower Slower. Be patient, come with an open mind and an empty stomach. Tip: you can eat the bar or on the couches.

Awesome place, love that they have juices and a bunch of vegan options. The chicken sandwich here looks incredible, I've got to keep it real. Also, this place is charming as all get out. Love the style.

First of all the restaurant in decorated very creatively with shabby chic and cottage feel furniture. It was light and airy and staff was friendly. We went in for late breakfast. I had blueberry pancakes that were outstanding, my wife who is gluten free had an all American breakfast with gluten free raspberry muffin. She loved the breakfast, especially the muffin. She also had a virgin Mary juice cocktail with fresh vegetables with just right amount of spice. The only thing I didn't like was their decaf coffee that was not hot enough and seemed like it was sitting in the pot a while. I sent in back and got a decaf latte and it was very good. My wife and I would like to go back and try their lunch or dinner. This place is a winner.

This place is adorable! I went with a large group of girls for lunch. It took about 30 minutes to get our table but the service was great. I got the CBLT which was prepared perfectly.

I want to give this review five stars but I can't because honestly every time I go in there the people working upfront are completely incompetent. I've gone there countless times and been told it's going to be a 25 minute wait and an hour plus goes by and I'm finally seated. Don't even get me started with how the restaurant is laid out, it is completely jacked up in there. However, all that aside the food is absolutely phenomenal and I have personally tried just about everything on the menu at least once. My personal favorites are the omelettes, breakfast sandwich, blueberry pancakes and butter pecan French toast with ice cream in Bourbon glaze. Omg is it good!!! The food is well worth the wait, but don't go in there expecting it to be a quick in and out meal.

Had a wonderful breakfast here - everything is fresh & delicious. My favorite is the lavender, spinach, goat cheese omelet (add mushrooms!). So good! Everyone is so nice and the atmosphere is inviting & shabby rustic vintage chic. Definitely worth a visit!

It's a beautiful restaurant. They have fresh juice, coffee, sandwiches. I came here for vacation and found this place. Food tastes great and there are lots of options. When I come back here again for vacation, I surely will come to here again.

One star based solely on walking in, being told to take a seat anywhere and someone would be right with you. 3 pm on a rainy afternoon and after 20 minutes of trying to catch someone's eye and ask for a menu or drink order, just left. It wasn't busy, no more than 5 tables taken, and at least three wait staff wandering around. Very disappointed.

    (1)
  • Madison G.

Food is great but holy smokes, the service is incredibly slow and very unorganized. I preorder 4 sandwiches and waited a total of 45 minutes AFTER I drove to pick it up. The frustration of the inexperienced and seemingly oblivious staff outweighs the quality of their food.

We came here twice this weekend while in Lewes. We had omelettes on Friday which we fluffy and cooked perfectly. Pancakes and waffles today which were great. Homemade juices from the juice bar was a nice touch. Our new favorite place in Lewes. Can't wait to try for dinner and lunch.

Food is great, atmosphere is great, the amount of time needed to wait for food is unacceptable. Waited an hour for breakfast. The kitchen really needs to step it up!

This was a quaint little place. It was real homey and inviting. I liked that most of their decor was upcycled. Their menu is short and crisp. We ordered some pancakes and 2 croissant sandwiches. Both of the sandwiches come with sweet potato fries. All of the meals were $10 and they also sold fresh pressed juices. If we are in town again we will def stop in again,.

Not very happy. Went there upon recommendation from reviews. Wait was very long but our waiter was very charming and very apologetic. He tried his best to make sure things were running smoothly. For a healthy alternative restaurant, everything came cooked in salted butter. The taste was overwhelming. Special requests were not met. Would not recommend this restaurant unless they become more diligent in the quality of their kitchen help and what they turn out to their customers. In ending "Big Thunder" gets 5 stars for his positive attitude and willingness to correct the restaurants mistakes.

I have to say the first time I walked into Nector Cafe (2 days ago) I thought to myself "This place is exquisite. I'd like to make an offer." But the place gets super packed on weekends and I wouldn't say the staff are the friendliest. Literally no place to stand to wait for a table - gets easily congested in the front. Still think the food is great, but I'd recommend going during off hours or avoiding weekend crowd. Hope they can keep it from going south.

I took my family to Nectar ( it came highly recommended by a shop owner) and we were not disappointed!! The decor is a mix of vintage meets Malibu . We loved the fact that the menu appealed to all of us , breakfast , sandwich Pot pies and great cocktails!! Our waitress Jen was very accomadating and went out of her way to make our children happy ( which made MOM very happy!!) They have the cutest salt/pepper shakers and little jam jars that come with the most amazing bread that come with the most delicious omellettes!!!! Jen gave our daughter an extra one and helped Ella pack it in her Frozen toy box so we wouldn't have to take a break from our delicious plates!!! Can't wait to come back on our next trip to Lewes!!!

I love loved it here! It's like Pinterest exploded in this place and it's downright adorable. The menu was small but varied and I really loved my 'green eggs' and ham (with pesto). it was delicious. The service was a little slow and there are not many tables so it looked as though a wait can be inevitable. I didn't get to try any juices but they had an amazing variety and I will definitely try one in the future.

Had a great breakfast this morning. I was pleasantly surprised with the food quality. I was expecting just a juice bar, which there was. But they also had a full variety of other items including eggs & omelettes, etc which were fantastic. A step above most places.

In the past my wife and I have stopped in during a stroll around Lewes to grab an expensive juice and were (3.5 stars) pleased. That was mainly contributed to the wait time, attitude of staff, and price. The juice was tasty and fresh to order but in asking for tips on crafting a juice the staff seemed clueless. My second visit to Nectar wasn't much better. There were a few positives like being seated promptly and tasty food but to me, when I go out to eat I am looking for more than that. When seated with our well behaved son (no crying, whining or fidgeting) we were seated at a 2-way top. I then asked if we could move over to one of the 3 vacant 4-way tops. The hostess acted like we were an inconvenience now saying they keep those for 4 people parties. Well, what do they do with 3 people parties normally then? My wife and I decided on our meals and ordered from with our waitress, which was cold in demeanor. ***On to the food*** I ordered the Green Eggs and Ham for $12.00 Sliced ham, egg, gruyere, arugula, and pesto and sweet potato "hash" - First, the "Hash" ok in flavor but if they want to keep calling it hash they need to work on it. There wasn't any caramelization on the potatoes thus not crispy anywhere. - My egg was cooked perfectly and the pesto was tasty. *Overall I would recommend this dish My wife decided on a lunch item, then were informed they don't serve the entire menu. ( not stated on the menu or by staff until order was placed ) She then changed her order to Steak and eggs for $18.00 it is a 10oz sirloin steak with two eggs served with multigrain toast and sweet potato "hash". - The steak was seasoned well for a what it was. -See above for "Hash" review. ****OVERALL**** Food was tasty and staff still needs work. The manager should read a few things on hospitality and pass along to staff. -I probably will not be returning to Nectar as it was not a pleasant experience.

This place is awesome. I read the reviews before coming so wasn't sure what to expect. I was blown away. I've worked in the service industry and I think the reviews that complained about service don't realize that this place is popular and busy! My server this morning was by herself and not only gave me great service, she remembered our complicated orders and the food came out quickly and amazingly good! Keep up the good work, Nectar!

I rarely get emotional about a restaurant, but breakfast brings out the beast in me. A good breakfast can make or break a whole day. Wandering around Lewes, locals recommended Nectar. It was Memorial Day, so there was a brief wait. I had a cup of coffee with low expectations. I'm a real snob: I don't just grind my own, I roast my own beans. Their coffee? Damn good. So, expectations were set pretty high. Looking at the juice and smoothies board, I didn't see the usual ingredients that cause problems for me. Since most juicers can't be purged between uses, there's a risk of backwash and cross contamination. Since they don't use wheat or soy ingredients - just raw fruits and vegetables, it's safe. They have gluten free baked goods. So, i had a raspberry muffin that was really good followed with a very creamy omelet. I like the sweet potatoes: they're heavier than white potatoes, so perhaps a smaller serving would suffice? I can't not comment on the decor. This cafe is clearly a labor of love. It's warm, charming, decorated like the interior of a craftsman style home. It's an inviting, exceptionally well-done environment that encourages you to relax and enjoy with friends and family.

You know those places that are just so wonderful you look forward to the chance to write them a glowing Yelp review? Enter in Nectar Cafe. This may be one of my most favorite cafes that I've ever been to...no joke. I would model my own after this special place. So to preface I was in Lewes, Delaware for a wedding and the Saturday a.m. haze was met with a quick Yelp search and an even quicker walk to this place. Walking in we immediately met the cutest cafe ever with a roaring fire, aprons everywhere and white washed walls in that vintagey kind of way; a homey yet shabby chic kind of place that basically looks like a montage of all my Pinterest boards. The man and I grabbed two seats at the counter and we were quickly met with a smile. He got a juice to go as he had a baseball game to play in, but I stayed with my book and ordered up some coffee and eggs, toast with a half of grapefruit and enjoyed. Watching the ladies juice and blend everything was such a reassuring thing to see; this place is legit. No frozen fruit or veggies here, only fresh goods. The bloody mary? A juiced and blended mix of fresh vegetables made with Tito's and topped with a fresh vegetable garden (carrots, lemons, limes, celery, cilantro). The woman offered me up a taste and it was perfect with a nice bite and hints of horseradish. I saw there were a few options if spicy ain't your thing. The eggs were perfectly poached on thick, buttered multi-grain bread. The half of grape fruit was cut and served with a grapefruit spoon and was a great addition to the eggs. This simple and light meal was perfectly satisfying. Can you tell that I heart this place? I enjoyed my time so much I convinced the man to return for lunch. My kale caesar arrived and was a blend of kale and romaine and was not lacking. Fresh, creamy (and lo-cal) dressing on every bite topped with the best chicken salad I've ever eaten...ever, topped with two parmesan crisps, I could barely finish this gigantic salad. Since breakfast is served all day, the man went with an egg-white omelet and it was absolute perfection. A hearty portion filled with goat cheese, lavender and fresh veggies; he paid no mind to the fact that it was egg-white. Sunday, hungover and hungry. My man surprised me with breakfast in bed from guess where? Yep. The man went and picked up some breakfast sandwiches: bacon, egg and cheese with dijionnaise on a whole wheat croissant? Top five breakfast sandwich ever. The only downfall of this place? The regular coffee kind of sucked. They also probably don't have too many guys in the kitchen as it did take a minute (or 20-30) to get our food. I didn't mind since ambiance combined with great fresh and natural food is worth the wait in my book. If you happen to be near Lewes or no where near Lewes, get here. Five stars Nectar Cafe. Keep doing what your doing. I look forward to coming back!

Horrible service. We stopped here to grab a healthy drink after biking the Junction Breakwater Trail this morning. We ordered a coconut water and a lemonade and our friends ordered smoothies and a Rice Krispies treat. I was immediately handed my coconut water, after that it became bazar. We were served nothing else with out repeatedly asking, and the smoothies never were served even after asking multiple times. This was well over a half hour wait, while other people ordered and received their drinks our drinks never came. After asking twice we received our lemonade, it was just okay, very small size and cost $4.00. Every time we walked up to the girl at the counter she would ask, "can I take your order", we would explain we just spoke to you about the smoothies, she would reply "what's your name I will check, funny considering she never asked for our name, then we would get "they are making yours now"' twice. People would order and receive their drinks, we go up to he counter "can I take your order?" Really? Oh, they are making it now, you can't have your money back. Eventually they had to give us our money back because after an exercise in extreme patients we still had not received the smoothies. The decor is really cute, but good luck getting served.

Misses The Mark We've been there several times because my wife LOVES it. I think she's taken with the ambience. The first time, we waited way too long for a simple breakfast. My sausage was cold and everything else was luke warm. The second time was lunch and honestly, it was excellent. Good Service and Good Food. We've sampled the smoothies and they are far from great. They were using squeeze bottles of ginger and beets that had lost any hint of sweetness. The results were bitter or tasteless. This time, we went for another breakfast. We only had thirty minutes. With one waitress and one server, they were not moving fast enough. At twenty-five minutes, they brought out my breakfast and got my wife's order completely wrong. So, we had to get them in take-out boxes and eat them later. The food was great. But, it's not worth it.

We recently tried dinner here after having enjoyed breakfast and their smoothies but dinner was dissapointing. The cauliflower steak was not sliced as you would expect and was essentially a big hulkung mess of steamed mess. I'm sorry to say it and the spicy pesto sauce did not improve it. The only redeeming part of the dinner was the blue berry pie and homemade buttermilk ice cream. Nectar you can do better!

Went with wife and 2 kids. Decor was nice, clean and refreshing - more farmhouse than beach. service prompt and friendly. Menu is only overwhelming in that you are forced to decide quickly "breakfast or lunch". We all opted for lunch. Wife had a powerhouse chock full of veggies. Daughter's chicken pot pie was sweet, cheesy and buttery. A bit soupy at first, but as it cooled and absorbed crust was delicious. My son's cheeseburger was good but very messy. He usually complains about fresh ingredients, but ate the bibb lettuce and pickles that came on the burger without complaint. I had the avacado chicken blt - the bread was great and the combination of flavors perfect! I knocked it down one star because I thought the sides were bland (sweet potato chips and hash), but would definitely return.

Really want to love his place because Lewes needs a good juice bar, but just cannot right now... Really disorganized, snotty front counter staff... Super super long waiting times for even take-out orders, mess up with orders, and disappointed that the juices are not made from organic produce. Also disappointed that much of the food options are not exactly health conscious- what I have come to expect from juice bars/cafes. Plus let's not forget to mention the price gouging going on... I understand this is what Rehoboth and Lewes have become, but I'm old school. Throw away the yuppie/tourist idea of charging what you can; getting away with shoddy sevice and food, rather focus on creating better food and atmosphere. Very few locals, that I know, actually frequent here so that should tell you something...

Had breakfast before our long drive back to NYC. The staff was so friendly and helpful, refilling our coffee and water constantly. We got the Smarty Pants juice, which was the best juice I've ever had, and I got the lavender goat cheese omelet, which wS insanely delish! The hubs got something equally as awesome, great eggs cooked to perfection, crispy turkey bacon, great sweet potato hash. I'm in love with this place!

Every once in a while, I have to remind myself that everything moves slower (much slower) in DE. Taking that into consideration, if you have the time and patience for a particularly long wait, this breakfast/brunch spot is awesome. The Buttered Pecan French Toast is ridiculous, the eggs for the omelets are an unworldly kind of fluffy, and it's one of the best smoked salmon/bagel plates I have had. I've never met a Bloody Mary that I didn't like, but the Dill Pickle one I had was special, and worth the trip all by itself. Go early (by 8:30) or late (noon) and the wait won't be as bad. Otherwise, it's 45 minutes easily, longer if they forget about you. But the food is unreal, and the servers are very nice. Super enjoyable breakfast and I will definitely go back.

This place is like a Pinterest and an Anthropologie had a baby who was really into juicing. Sounds amazing, I know, but be careful what you wish for fellow basic, Anthropologie, Pinterest, green juice fans, Nectar will only crush your dreams and make you sad. First off the girl at the juice counter was literally the rudest person I've encountered in all my days of acquiring drinks at counters. But what was I expecting? Of course the girl in a Pinterest juice bar is going to be a bottle blonde, Forever 21 plaid shirt wearing, bitch for no reason. Why did I expect her to take me on a tour of her vintage mason jar collection? After getting our juice and declining food on principal of not wanting to give any more money to a place that was infuriatingly rude, we sat on a couch near the fireplace and drank juice. The juice was great! The decor was fine until you got a closer look. The bookshelves were filled with crappy books, the type of books your parents hoist on you and you reluctantly keep in the basement. A lot of the decor seemed more shabby than chic and the bathroom is so dark I kept fiddling with the light to make sure it was on. This place tries, I'll give it that, but it's like a mega corporation took a poll of all the most pinterested things and randomly put them together in a juice bar. It's all glitter with no soul and one really rude girl working the juice machine.

This place is such a gem in downtown Lewes! I'm so happy that there are restaurants with a little more character popping up around the area. There is something to appeal to everyone! I'm a health nut, but my family is not! I have had a few delicious and healthy dishes, including Kale chips! Their coffee is also quite tasty! I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in town :)

Hate to do it, but I am giving this place a one star for the lack of any attempt to provide service to my friend and me when we stopped in this afternoon while on a biking trip. We simply wanted a juice and went to the counter. I was asked if it were for here or to go and I said "we would like to drink it here" and pointed to a row of stools by the window that I assumed for were for "in and out" seating. She told me I could not order at the counter and I needed to take a seat. We sat. And sat. And sat. So much, we decided to leave. Zero patience for this type of nonsense. So "Nectar" despite your many high rating reviews, you are still one star to me because of the bad customer service experience I had here today.

The fresh juices are marvelous; they are appropriate priced. I would suggest the large sz because you get more for your money. The décor and ambience is really neat. However, when you order from the kitchen, make sure you check your meal. I have ordered several sandwiches, which are delicious, but NEVER what I ordered on them! Very Very Disappointing!

The place was packed on saturday morning at 10am in August, which is always a good sign. First thing to note is that it's an attractive place; well lit, eclectic decor, bright and colorful, like breakfast should be. Next, the juice. All the juices are made fresh and to order with a centrifugal juicer. The juice had the tell tale froth on the top, a sign that it was fresh from the juicer. Forgot the name of the juice, but it was some sort of hangover remedy. Whether it worked, I dunno, doesn't matter, it was pretty good and fresh. Food. I had a bacon omelet which was pretty delicious. The presentation was great, it just looked very appetizing and was presented very neatly. It's hard not to like a decent omelet, especially one with bacon, i'd get it again, but what really stole the show was the breakfast sandwich my wife had. First, of all, the hallmark of any good sandwich is the bread. The fresh artisan bread was exceptional. it was perfectly complementary to the rest of the sandwich. Sometimes when you have artisan breads, they tend to be a little denser or chewy, but not this bread, it was so soft and tasty, it blended right into the rest of the sandwich seamlessly, which pretty much made the sandwich, cuz after good bread, u can't go wrong with thick chewy bacon, a fried egg and cheese. The only slights i have (and this wouldn't prevent me from going back by any means) is that the food took a little longer than expected, maybe 25-30 mins (but the place was packed, so its understandable). And it was a bit pricey for breakfast food (a little over $30 for a sandwich, omelet, juice, and coffee). Even so, i'd still go back again and again. It's a diamond in the rough. Oh...and it may be tucked away in an alley, but it's a lot bigger than you would think

The Breakfast Sandwich with sweet potato hash is the best. I stay away from the juice drinks to keep the fare low. The Monte Cristo is also a hit. The Monte Cristo is now off the menu. However I am not sad because the new brisket sandwich is great.

Nectar is the best brunch spot in town. They sell breakfast all day and the decor is unique and homely with an Alice in Wonderland twist. My favorite starter is the Yogurt and Granola Parfait which is topped with fresh berries. The cinnamon and raisins make the Nectar Granola the best part. The fresh ingredients and creative menu draws a decent crowd, but don't be fooled by the "35-40 minute wait" time. We received a call from the hostess less than 5 minutes into our wait. Nectar is a delicious choice for breakfast, lunch, or brunch with a juice bar or alcoholic bar for your choice.

Brand new bistro serving not only coffees and juices but gourmet breakfast, sandwiches, entrees and salads. A labor of love, with each dish tasting of fresh ingredients and conscious cooking. Waitstaff is kind and efficient, and work hard to make your dining experience memorable. The environment is part of the experience, artistically pleasing done in calming neutrals. Desserts were so beautiful on display and just as delicious upon imbibing (lemon meringue cheesecake!). Come here for dinner rather than waiting in line at the longer-established places in Lewes!

Don't bother, unless you have an entire day to waste and enjoy interacting with a surly and disinterested staff. The food and juices at this lunch spot are great, but the staff is rude and completely oblivious to their customers' needs. I expect to wait for a table during peak hours on a holiday weekend, but the last time I went here, I gave the hostess my name for what she said would be a 25 minute wait for a table of two. This, despite the fact that there were several empty tables. While we were waiting, no one else was seated. We only got to the top of the list when the people ahead of us became tired of waiting. After about 30 minutes my wife asked the hostess whether we might be seated soon, and she said that it would be another 30 minutes. The hostess did not think to come tell us this, despite our being mere feet away, in full view of the hostess. The place always seems to be "understaffed" or "overwhelmed in the kitchen," but the real issue seems to be that none of the employees seems to care about doing anything well or treating the customers like anything other than an annoyance, and there never seems to be a manager keeping things running. I hope they straighten up and get their act together, because the food is actually decent. Not worth the wait, though.

Service, quality, atmosphere all get a ten +! The juices are all hand made to order and the ingredients for the soups and cocktails is made fresh daily. The atmosphere is incredibly quaint and they have wonderful taste in music. You can absolutely taste the difference in how fresh the food is. This may very well be my new favorite restaurant. Special thanks to the owner who let us sample some of the juices they offer, whatever the jalapeño froth was that we sampled was amazing! The bar has just been raised for restaurants in Lewes. Thanks for the positive experience, me and my lady will be back!

We ate lunch here on a summer weekday with a toddler and an infant. Our toddler loved the kale chips, although I wish they'd been seasoned a bit, and fresh apple juice. My black bean burger was the best I've ever had, and my husband enjoyed an avocado BLT. The decor is trendy (think hipster), and not too crowded, and the service was decently quick. They have breakfast all day, and serve everything from vegan chocolate avocado tart to real bacon and sausage. We were impressed. The only area that seemed overly busy was around the juice bar.

My husband and I were staying in Rehoboth, but we made the trip to Lewes twice to eat at Nectar. The large gluten free menu is a huge plus for someone to is usually stuck eating cobb salads anytime I'm on vacation, and the juices are delicious albeit a little expensive compared to other juice bars I've been to. The food was delicious and the ambiance is really great, but they lose a star for slow service. I am in agreement with most of my fellow reviewers that the service at Nectar leaves something to be desired. Staff was very friendly, but slow. We didn't have a long wait at all like many people have said, but while we were seated our servers just weren't very good. I think Nectar has some really basic restaurant management issues to work out, but that said, we will definitely be back.

We enjoyed our juices first, I had 'the beauty balm' (apple, orange, carrot) and I added kale, while my fiancé had a pineapple, orange, mango smoothie which he finished quickly. For lunch I had the kitchen salad which was fantastic but the portion size was to large. The salad was mixes greens, chopped cucumber, mini plum tomatoes, onion, sliced almonds, and a lemon vinagrette. My fiancé had the chicken salad sandwich which he enjoyed but would have opted for potato chips instead of kale chips. I then had an iced americano and he had an iced mocha latte which were both fabulous. Very happy to enjoy fresh, good food and coffee at the beach. The atmosphere was very cute and welcoming. The staff make the smoothies in front of guests, my only suggestion would be for the staff to keep the conversation about their job (switching shifts, how their shift went the day before) after hours as it was a distraction from the experience.

We were kindly greeted at the door and the friendly and helpful staff seated us right away. They have a creative selection of juices for everything from a brain power boost to a hangover cure. The food is amazing and they even serve beer! Highly recommended for a great local breakfast joint walking distance from the Beacon Motel.

Decided to stop here for breakfast before leaving our weekend trip to Lewes for our drive back to NYC. Hostess told us the wait would be about 20 minutes. There were two empty seats at the bar so we asked if we could sit there and eat breakfast. She stated that we could, which left us wondering why she didn't offer those seats to us in the first place as an alternative to waiting for a table. My fiance and I both ordered the American breakfast, which is two eggs, meat and toast. A party of 3 sat down next to us at the bar about 10 minutes after we were first seated and we had already placed our order. Their food came out before ours...and two of their entrees (croissant breakfast sandwich) were missing the egg. The waitress reported back to the kitchen and came out with two eggs on a plate to give to them. At this point we had been waiting 45 minutes for our breakfast, which had yet to arrive. Why did their food and missing eggs come out before our order?? I also ordered my eggs 'over medium' and was basically given hard boiled eggs. They were completely cooked through. The server gave us a sample of their juice, as it was leftover from an order, which was nice to try but didn't make up for the service or food. Waiting 45 minutes for 2 eggs is ridiculous. The only positive things about this restaurant are that the decor is charming, and the toast is great. Would not recommend or be returning.

We found this place sort-of by accident. Drove up to Lewes from Rehoboth Beach to explore; I went on Yelp and saw a picture of the blueberry pancakes. Had we just walked to find something, we probably wouldn't have stopped. It was just about lunch time but we ordered breakfast anyway. Starting with the juices - I had the Good Morning Sunshine juice (and a coffee) and my bf had the Hangover Cure. To eat I had the blueberry pancakes which had very plump and fresh blueberries, a blueberry syrup, and were whole wheat. Delicious! My boyfriend had the American breakfast with turkey bacon (very crisp), scrambled eggs, multi grain toast, and sweet potato hash. I tasted what he had and was also amazing! We LOVED sitting here and looking around at the architecture and decorations. It was so cozy by the bookcases and fireplace. Even the restroom was cute! I wish we lived closer to this place because we'd be here every week!

As cute as the place is, and as good as the food is (I ordered the Green Eggs and Ham, yum), the wait was ridiculous, no way near worth the prices. Actually, it was beyond ridiculous. In anticipation of the wait, when we ordered our meal we also placed an order for deserts to go. We had to wait for those, even after paying. Watching the paint peel and a fly crawl on the wall did not help. They can do better. I hope they do.

This place seriously has the best blueberry pancakes. Ever. Anywhere. They aren't light or fluffy -- one of those pancakes is a meal all by itself, but what a meal! Also, I am not a fan of fancy juice drinks. Who adds broccoli to apple juice, seriously? But I was recovering from a nasty migraine and tried one of the juices to get a vitamin "hit", and I have to say it was good. The "beauty balm" or something. Honestly, be brave and give it a try.

Out of the group, one didn't like the blueberry pancakes, but other dishes had were good. This isn't your normal diner food, but high quality on specialty breads with unique ingredients, and for this it is worth a try. Service was definitely uninspiring. The waitress we got seemed like she had no interest in smiling and pleasing us. Almost felt like she preferred we weren't there! I guess just robotic order taking.

Drove up from Rehoboth for Monday morning brunch after a long Fourth of July weekend. Ordered mimosas for the table and 15 minutes later the server came back to let us know they ran out of champagne. We proceeded to order a couple of glasses of wine. 15 minutes later they brought the white wine but were out of the the red wine. Needless to say it took a half hour to get a drink for a few of us. Over an hour later we asked about our food which still had not arrived. They informed us they were waiting on a sandwich. Which should take 5 min to prepare at most. My friends and I are all currently servers in the industry and have never seen worse service. Instead of informing you of the issues they are having they avoid you instead. After speaking with the manager she informed us they would buy us some drinks and everything would be out shortly. The table next to us that sat down 30 minutes after started recieving their food. Another fifteen minutes and our food was still not out. We got up and left. WORST SERVICE EXPERIENCE IN MY FOODIE HISTORY!!

What a cute little place located in an alley just off Second St. The juices are made to order, the pastries and salads taste homemade. The sitting area varies from stools by the window to comfy sofas by the fireplace to nice country chairs and tables in the main dining room. Overall a nice, cozy atmosphere !! The only downside is the amount of flies.....they are all over the place.

Wow. I was not expecting to love this place so much. It's tucked-away gem is a breath of fresh air. I ordered the smarty pants juice and the powerhouse sandwich. Four of us went here today, expecting a nice lunch--but it didn't happen. The food was okay, but the wait times for everything were totally outrageous. Not to mention my soup, which never came. Wine and coffee both needed to be ordered twice, and both took about half an hour. We were there well over an hour by the time we were served our entrees. Apologies? Explanations? None were to be had. In fact, they seemed somewhat annoyed that we didn't think all this was totally acceptable. It was amazing!

Must say the experience was less delectable than the food for a Saturday morning. The hostess today was not welcoming and projected an almost blank attitude, as if she didn't want to be there. The entrance environment is frenetic, as there is a steady stream of people (good sign!) to order the natural fruit and vegetable juices. There is an adjacent bar for those wanting to order food and a separate dining area, but to a first-timer it isn't clear that Nectar serves anything but juice and coffee, as there's no menu posted. And the hostess seemed off-put by the request to see a menu! After learning of a 25 minute wait for a table, the bar (despite the blender noise) was the logical choice. The waitress behind the counter was lovely and cordial. The coffee was magnificent - rich, bold, flavorful - and the two poached eggs on toast were prepared to perfection. The accompanying fresh grapefruit was exquisite. The customer seated next to me had the yogurt and granola with fruit, which looked (and he said was) super delicious. If Nectar could be more friendly, less "uppity" and more welcoming to newcomers, it could earn five stars. People DO want to be treated like customers, not intruders!

Went Friday October 18 for lunch. With my parents. We were seated right away and ordered two breakfast sandwiches and a vedge. All came fairly quickly and were hot and yummy. Our service was quick but we did get there off time for lunch which was 230p. My parents liked it so much they went back Saturday for breakfast and bought me a yogurt with fruit, granola and honey back. My husband got to have a breakfast sandwich too. It is ham, bacon, eggs, cheese and tomato on a multi grain crossiant, it came with sweet potatoe home fries. We had two meals there in two days and liked them all. Hopefully this place lasts. Nice location and bright inside.

We were recommended to come here by a cashier at an organic foods market, or else we would have never known about this gem. The ambience of the room is warm and inviting, and it almost feels like you are at Anthropologie looking at the decor. We tried juices and entrees, and I can honestly say that the lavender spinach omelet was the best I've ever had. I joined Yelp just to write this review!

Aside from the long wait, we liked the place as a brunch spot. The quality of the food was excellent and the portions wee a bit on the small side but accurately advertised. Many healthy options including gluten free and vegetarian. The utensils were really well cleaned. The juices were excellent but again, portions were on the small side. I would go again. Nice decor too.

Nectar Cafe was recommended by friends who live in Lewes and after we did a Yelp check we decided to check it out. Ended up going there 3 times during our 4 day visit. Great place, food & people. Great for breakfast or lunch. Juice drinks are creative and good, chicken salad is not to be missed and I loved the BLT Blue Cheese Salad.

I really want to like Nectar. Since Cafe Azafran closed the Lewes location, I am at a loss for a good cup of coffee or a latte and have hoped Nectar could fill the void. On my first stop there, I got a to-go cup of coffee. The go cups are styrofoam, which is unpleasant to drink out of. The coffee was tepid and flavorless. The next time, I ordered a latte. It was a warm late summer day, so I asked for it iced and was told they don't do iced coffee drinks. I am not sure what would be so hard about putting a shot of espresso and some milk in a go cup with ice; surely they have ice? So I got it hot (that is, lukewarm) and not much could be said other than it was drinkable. I gave Nectar one last try for a cup of coffee. Third time's the charm...not. Icky styrofoam cups again. The coffee urn was empty. The server apologized and went into the kitchen and brought me back a cup of coffee. It was not even lukewarm. I pointed this out; the server apologized again and told me she would make a new pot, which with their "industrial" coffee maker would only take 30 seconds. A new cup was brought out, I put cream in it, left the restaurant, took a sip...tasteless and tepid. I discarded it and could not be bothered to take the time to go back in. The only reason I gave even one star was because the girl at the counter was nice and was trying to be helpful...however, with three visible employees and an empty restaurant, they still couldn't conjure up a decent cup of coffee.

We were staying at a hotel right in town and were grateful that Nectar opened early on Sunday (7a.m.) as we needed to get an early start on our day and the hotel did not provide breakfast. My husband and I shared the American breakfast which was two eggs, any way you wanted, two wonderful, fresh sausages, hearty piece of whole grain bread and a huge portion of sweet potatoes with tomatoes. It was perfect for sharing cause the portion was beyond generous for one person. (Although if my husband had been there alone, I am SURE he would have enjoyed the whole thing!) This was an awesome way to start the day. The staff was very friendly which we appreciated. The coffee was excellent. Look forward to coming back next visit. Ohhh, yea...before I forget, the decor is whimsical and way cool with all the real reclaimed architecture. FUN PLACE!!!!!

The food is 4-star, the decor is 5-star but, alas, the service is 1-star. Such a shame because this is a special place in terms of food and ambiance. The wait staff is friendly but the service is really terrible.

This place has quickly become a part of my routine every time I visit family in the area. Brunch is amazing and very different than your typical offerings in many other restaurants. They offer the usual breakfast options, but with much tastier ingredients. I normally get the bacon and cheese omelet, but they use gouda cheese and the rest of the fillings are so delicious. They also offer gluten free bread and french toast which is amazing since it is rare experience to have that option in many restaurants whenever I go out. I haven't had a juice/smoothie that I didn't like and the bloody marys are fabulous! I have only subtracted one star because the service seems to fall a bit when they have their morning rush. It's not that anyone has ever been rude or unfriendly in any way. Just seems that the juice area gets extremely backed up with employees and a hard space for all of them to work efficiently. Overall, it has always been a pleasant experience no matter what and this will continue to be one of my regular spots.

Went in for lunch, ordered late breakfast, Green Eggs and Ham, it was an excellent choice. I also had a green juice drink from their menu. I'll be back for more of their food and drink! Well just when you thought things couldn't be any better, the service was excellent. The cooked food was prepared and served almost as fast as the juice was made. All this in a very clean and cozy place, I know I'll be back soon!

Was here this morning for breakfast with my husband and parents. We had a great meal, which included: green eggs and ham (my meal and so delish), bloody mary's, an omelet, and two american breakfasts. Discovered Nectar during a trip to visit family who were on their annual summer vacation to the shore. I have been in the last five out of six days if that doesn't tell you something! I have had everything from their healthy juice's to the Hummus plate, Avocado BLT and today the Blueberry Pancakes! Oh, and their deli salads and cookies are good as well (try the ginger cookie with cracked pepper, yum!). Everything is healthy (no french fries here!), quality ingredients, great taste, good prices and friendly staff and servers. A stop here for a snack, good cup of coffee or tea, or a healthy meal is well worth it. If you're anywhere on the shore, whether it be Rehoboth, Bethany or staying in wonderful Lewes, it's worth the trip.

Great new casual choice in Lewes. The decor, as stated by Diane, is welcoming and comfortable. There are casual. Stuffed chairs and a sofa by the fireplace. I know where I will be hanging out this winter with a book or so e knitting. I was easily accommodated when I requested a sandwich be served San bread and on small amount of salad. It was the Vedge sandwich and I have now ordered it the same way a few times. They were willing to make changes for me and that was appreciated. i know i will be a regular here now that i have moved to the area.

Went for lunch on a Sunday and were seated with no wait. The atmosphere is cute, if not a little over the top. I wanted to order so many things on the menu but settled with a juice and an omelet. The juice was pricey, as with all juice bars, but the food was very reasonable priced. $8 for an omelet that I could only eat a third of. Service was fast and friendly. Can't wait to go back, I'm just afraid it will soon join the ranks of other popular lewes restaurants and you won't be able to get in without a two hour wait!

Sadly, I've been to Nectar twice and have been so disappointed with the service that I wouldn't go back. This place is in a perfect location, is really nicely decorated inside, and the food is very good -- but the service is just deplorable. It definitely seems like the concept is there, but they have no idea how to run a restaurant. I went last weekend with a friend and breakfast took nearly 3 hours. I had to go out to feed the meter during the meal because it took so long. No one refilled our coffee or waters even once. The only way to get a refill was to get up and get it yourself...which we did because we saw other frustrated patrons doing the same thing. We had buttered pecan french toast and the bacon omelette, both of which were very good. There were only 2 of us, so our food came out at about the same time, but the group at the table next to us had literally finished their meals when the last person's meal was delivered. It was disconcerting that the food runner didn't hold the plates away from her body...she had stains all down the front of her shirt from holding the plates right under her chest (even when she only had 2 plates). Our waitress was friendly, but her service was really, really bad. None of the staff seemed to be in any hurry, which was surprising considering how annoyed all the guests seemed. I hoped that they were just having a bad day last time, so I took a group there this weekend for breakfast. The service was only marginally better. I arrived early, so I told them I was waiting for 3 others and they seated me at a table for 4 in the back. When the rest of my party arrived, they asked for a table for 4 and the hostess told them it would be a 15-20 minute wait, so they waited. Finally, she tried to seat them at the table next to me. I couldn't get cell service in the restaurant, so we were literally in opposite ends of the restaurant for 20 minutes without the staff suggesting that I might already be waiting...just shows how aloof they were. I should also mention that in those 20 minutes, my waitress never once stopped at my table or even made eye contact with me. I flagged down the guy delivering juices to ask for a cup of coffee. I had to find my own cream and sugar on the bar. (My friends also said they asked for coffee while they waited for 20 minutes, but it never arrived.) Again, our waitress was very friendly, but she did not seem to have any motivation to refill our drinks or ask if we needed anything. I was so embarrassed by the poor service because I suggested the place. As for the food, we had the blueberry pancakes, bacon omelette, and smoked salmon sliders and everyone was happy. It just took 2 hours to get in and out. I gave Nectar 2 tries, but I would never take anyone there again. That kind of service might work for tourists who aren't in a hurry, but locals won't return to a place with service this bad. Unless they improve, I would be surprised if they are still in business next summer. It's a shame because it's cute inside and the food is good...but the service makes the restaurant!

I use to frequent Cake Bar and enjoyed it, but I can't say I was surprised or heartbroken to hear it had changed. After visiting the new restaurant, Nectar, I can't even say I miss it. At all. Nectar is clean, bright and comfortable. The interior is kind of a scrubbed up shabby chic home kitchen with eat in area, if your home was awesome. The touches are fun without being fussy, clean without being stark. Mismatched chairs are painted a unifying white, and it makes it feel comfortable and tidy at the same time. Oh yeah, then there's the food. And the juices. We actually stopped in there the night before while waiting for our table at agave. Ordered 2 juices, then our table was ready, so we enjoyed the deliciously fresh crisp flavors on our walk back, but made plans to return and eat there the next day... Came in early and ordered more juices, lean and mean? And the smarty pants? Well, the smarty pants may not have helped my memory, but it sure was refreshing and yummy. I ordered the chicken salad on gluten free bread. Came with dill pickles and kale chips. The pickles were spicy, crisp and tasty, the kale chips were crispy and flavorfully salted. The main star of my meal was the chicken salad which had delightful additions that perked it up, some good flavors and a great texture. All in all very satisfying. My partner's meal honestly looked and smelled even better, and made me rethink my decision, not that I was unhappy, but his green eggs and ham had arugula and pesto and I just don't think it gets any better than that! We will certainly return for more juice and to try more items on the menu.
