Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Lewes Pizza, with its generally decent (nothing special, mind you) food and service, really failed us today. When we lived closer to the restaurant, it used to be easy to drive over (5 minutes) and pick up a quick lunch or dinner. The pizza is very good - in fact, we much prefer it over the overly greasy local Grotto Pizza (which on one occasion stained our back car seat right through the box lined with wax paper!). Sandwiches are also decent (nothing special, but this is definitely not a fancy place). We have now moved about 6 miles away from the restaurant outside Lewes. Today, we got a little craving for Lewes Pizza (it's been probably a year since we've had one of their pizza). Without my knowledge (I thought he called), my husband placed an order online and completed a profile for us. He then left in our car to run some errands in town. He planned to pick up our food on his way back home. That was not to be. About 1/2 hour after he left the house, a Lewes Pizza delivery truck pulled into our driveway. Puzzled, I answered the door to a rather bedraggled and sweaty delivery man. I was naturally quite flustered as we had not ordered delivery and I had barely any money in the house. I told him this and he proceeded to get very testy with me all the while denying that a carryout order had been placed. I told him I didn't have enough money to pay him and asked him to take a credit card. Boy, was he angry. I told him that this was not my fault and he proceeded to argue more with me. I told him my husband was probably stopping by the restaurant to pick up an order that was no longer there. The driver then went back to his truck and came back and was visibly chastened. He said that "carryout" (or "pickup") was clearly indicated on his delivery slip and that he was sorry - a mistake had been made. He took my credit card and processed the order. If I hadn't been busy with work (I was expecting a long distance conference call and was nervous that it might be coming in during this fiasco) I might have been more upset. In the end, what was so disturbing to me was the fact that he had argued with me and had implied that I was lying to him. I then called the restaurant to tell them to be looking for my husband who would be arriving to get an order that was no longer there. The woman who answered the phone at the restaurant also proceeded to argue with me until I told her - flat out - that I was looking at the order slip and it clearly said "carryout". She then stopped arguing. When my husband returned, he also said she had LIED to him about the order on the slip. Moral of this story? Don't expect too much from the staff of Lewes Pizza. Food good; staff not so good! This is actually not the first time our orders have been wrong, but it's never been this mixed up. I do think that an apology should have been in order and not continual arguing and lying on top of that. Another moral to this story: I would advise NOT ordering online from Lewes Pizza. Order the old fashioned way and call. After all the excitement was over, I asked my husband - since he had told them he would pick up our order - HOW they had known our address. He told me it was a requirement of the online profile. Imagine if he had listed our Washington, D.C. address!! Would a Lewes Pizza delivery truck have showed up eventually at our address there?! By the way, the pizza was really very good ... ! Oh, and if you're thinking I'm just not a very nice person for writing this, I did give the driver a 20% tip even though he had been so nasty to me!
