Probably the best Mexican food I've found in lower Delaware, and I think I've tried them all. If your were blindfolded, it would be difficult to tell one of the area's Mexican restaurants from another, but this place is a notch above. I've eaten there a half dozen times, and it's very consistent. The service is good and the wait staff is fluent in both English and Spanish, making the whole ordering thing much easier. Very pleased with this place..

Draft beer was warm and had a buttery off flavor, the beer lines are probably dirty. Service was good and the food was delivered fast but tasted bland. There are definitely better Mexican restaurants nearby.

Went there for lunch with a group of people. Restaurant is located off of 113 in a middle of strip mall, can't miss it with its bright color outside paint. The inside was nicely decorated and the staff was very nice. We got seated quickly and our server was very friendly with a great sense of humor. Chips and salsa were decent, i had the carnitas that were not on the lunch menu, they were a little greasy and lacked flavor but nothing a little dip in salsa couldn't fix. Their lunch menu is pretty extensive though and everyone else seemed happy with the meals they got.

This us our second stop here -- once on the way down and now again on the way up. It's basic, albeit a bit bland, gringo-Mexican food. In the right place at the right time. Both times we ordered from the ala carte menu and skipped the piles of rice and beans. I can recommend the soft chicken tacos and guacamole. Not so much the chicken enchilada and tamale which are far too bland with a red sauce that is tastes like thin Italian marinara sauce.

La Quetzalteca was very good when I went there with several friends. The service was fast, the food was hot and of a good quality, and the environment was very welcoming. The place was not overly crowded, but the few patrons that were there at the time were all spread out to keep everyone fairly private. The nachos are a very good way to start, so be sure to start with that (I prefer them with beef, but there is also an option for chicken if you're so inclined!).

The place is clean and the food is very good. The service is friendly and fast. Almost every entree is just a mixture of your choice of meat with refried beans and shell. The guacamole is great and everything compliments well. The furniture is worn and faded and the restaurant altogether is drafty and cold but it didn't take much away from the food and experience. A good Mexican restaurant that I go back to every other month or so.

This place is an insult to Mexican food! Everything was terrible, salsa tasted like it was from the grocery store, guacamole was a weird bright green color and tasted so nasty I couldn't even eat it, my bean burrito was cold in the middle and the beans had no flavor, even my Corona tasted weird! Seriously DO NOT eat here! There is a Taco Bell right next door you will have a better Mexican food eating there!!!

Great atmosphere and the decor made it feel like a real Mexican restaurant prices are in line with area restaurants . Nice selection . Right off of 113 . Drinks are very big too.

We stopped at this restaurant on our way home from a trip up to New England. It seemed like a safe and easy decision since we had yet to encounter bad food at a Mexican restaurant. How can you go wrong with cheese, spices, fresh salsa, and hot sauce, right? Wrong. So so very wrong. Slow service, subpar food. My husband ordered Mole Poblano...bland mole sauce. Nothing special, and nothing we would have made at home either. I ordered the Shrimp Enchiladas, which was sadly overcooked and under flavored. The accompanying rice was dry, and beans just tasted weird...almost a slight sweetness to them. Overall, everything tasted off except for the tortillas (that came with the Mole Poblano). Hopefully some sort of food poisoning won't set in during the next 3 hours until we finish our road trip home.

Very good! Got Chicken Chimi - the shell was fried perfectly, and the beans and rice were very good. Chips were only fair, not great, salsa was pretty good. I would though highly suggest that the shredded chicken be MUCH more flavorful. It was quite bland, almost like boiled chicken - PLEASE FLAVOR YOUR SHREDDED CHICKEN!! Good place though!

I went there for dinner with my BF. The salsa was spicy and very tasty. The chips came out warm, which was a nice touch. I ordered chicken fajitas and my BF ordered t-bone steak. My chicken fajitas was a little disappointing. The chicken was very dry while the peppers were soft like butter. The beans were very good. Steak was just ok. Our server was nice. The place was pretty empty. The floor was sticky. I will probably not go back again.

Was a crappy experience...... beer was warm(draft and bottle). Service was very slow. They allowed a dog inside the restaurant that was barking!! I won't return. Nothing compared to plaza tapatia!!

Went here as part of a group outing. I find that I have to echo a number of sentiments left by other Yelpers. The service was pretty slow, despite the restaurant being almost empty. We were a group of 15, but there were only about 8 other people in the whole place other than us. We had to ask for menus for people that showed up after the first folks got there, drink orders weren't collected for around 10 minutes, and the food took a fairly long time to arrive. Food and drinks... one of the members of our party ordered beer on draft, which was delivered not very cold. He was told there's a problem with the cooling system for the draft beers. Really, you couldn't have said that *before* he ordered the beer? When the food was finally delivered, it was "hot" but not what I normally expect from someplace like this. Yes, the plates themselves were hot, but the food on the plates were not very hot at all. The chips used for the chips & salsa lacked salt. They were pretty darn bland, to be honest. Beef up the service and get a handle on the food & drinks, and this place would be OK. The overall atmosphere isn't bad, as it seems clean, the music isn't annoying, and the decorations are typically Mexican. Otherwise, it's not really worth the trip.

Ummm. Two stars max (and I may have been a little generous because I am listening to an excellent song right now). Salsa and guac were the consistency of squeeze cake icing. Chips were odd, more corn meal than corn flour. They were warm but chewy, not crispy. Services was lagging (but the place wasn't busy). My guess is that this is the only Mexican joint around. Don't be fooled by the authentic on the label, this is just a repackaged Taco Bell.

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
