You more or less know what you'll get when you walk into a Bob Evans. The food is plain old american diner food. Some people love it. Some people hate it. And yet, there's still something about America's relationship with diners in general. For me, Bob Evans is a step above Denny's, and a step below Cracker Barrel. So I certainly know what I'm getting when I walk into one of these. But my experience at this particular location was much better than normal. The staff is genuinely nice, and caring. From the hostess to our own server, everyone we came across had a smile on their face and wanted to truly serve us to the best of their abilities. Service of this kind truly needs to appreciated, and that's what I'm doing by writing this review.

Such potential unrealized. It's like they were given a blueprint for success, but didn't clearly understand the manual. Wide/Spacious entry leading into a well spaced interior. It actually feels better spaced than other Bob Evans. The greeting from the hostess/waitress seemed awkward and a bit stilted, but friendly nonetheless. The service was intermittent. Our server was there...and gone...and there...and gone. Part of the meal was delivered, but another was left under a heat lamp. Room temperature "hot" food is not what expected. My plate was greasy. The part that held food was greasy. The part that was free of food was greasy. Not sure how that happen, and I was a bit too worried they might tell me if I did ask. The bottomless coffee stayed at the bottom of my coffee cup, except for one refill. Yes, I could have flagged down a server to ask for more coffee (and more hot chocolate for my son), but that was not the promised service. They can improve easily, and I hope they do. A bit of elbow grease (not cooking grease), visit a few good businesses that do it right, and B.Evans will be able to selected as a good breakfast destination.

I went here for lunch Sunday (03/29) with my parents, sister, brother-in-law, and my boyfriend. It's been a long time since I last ate at a Bob Evans restaurant, and my palate has grown a bit more...sophisticated, shall we say? So I wasn't entirely sure what to expect. I was pleased to discover the food exceeded my expectations. I ordered the Potato-Crusted Flounder, which came with a choice of two sides (I decided to have steamed broccoli and a baked potato). The flounder was a pretty decent size, and it was cooked perfectly; the fish flaked off my fork very easily, and the potato crust on top was a crunchy, delicious treat. The broccoli was also steamed just enough so that it was soft without being mushy, and my baked potato was quite good (I didn't need to slather butter or sour cream on top of it). Our server, Taylor, was very friendly and attentive, and she made sure we had plenty of time to browse the menus and eat our meals. The decor here is a bit "down-home, country" style, but the place is well-lit, and everything was spotless, from the floors to the utensils. Well done, Bob Evans. Well done indeed.

Service was horrible. Waitress never asked if we were ready to order, she just walked away after giving our drinks. She was more worried about the conversations happening around her then what we were ordering. Food was decent, but the service giving by the waitress was horrible!

Saturday, Aug. 15, 2015, 10:00 am. Admittedly, this is a very busy time of year there, but management was prepared, and had lots of staff on-hand. We found the prices very high for a very average breakfast. The place was busy, but at least in our section there was no sign of wait staff helping each other out. We don't know if this was because our waitress wasn't popular with the other staff, if the staff wasn't trained to help each other, or, if they were trained, management didn't emphasize it. Whichever was the case, the customers suffered for it. We waited over 45 min. for simple egg breakfasts, and watched as a number of other tables with other waiters/waitresses were served and cleared before ours arrived. We had to flag our waitress down and then wait nearly 10 more min. to get 1 coffee refilled, and then she only came once - that made the average cup of joe pretty expensive. The eggs were all ordered over medium, and came out as such: 1 plate over easy, 1 plate over medium and 1 plate over hard. All had bacon, all was ordered crisp, and all came out wiggly soft and pink. The 4th plate was a skillet combo of some sort and was just ok. We weren't about to ask for re-does, after having already waited well over 1 hr., what with the wait time before even being seated. Our waitress didn't seem to know the menu too well, but did not appear to be new to the restaurant. She seemed flustered and out of sorts, but only had 4 tables, so we couldn't really see what the reason was for such a long wait, when other tables/sections were doing fine.

Very slow. They were out of one of our meals and didn't even know for a half hour and then we had to reorder. This was at 7pm on a weeknight. Not exactly a high volume time. I think two other tables were seated while we waited for our meal. It has been 45 minutes and we still have no food. So I sit here and review instead.

Not only was the food below average but the service was horrible - not the restaurant that I remembered. Try a different restaurant.

Stopped in for dinner tonight. Everyone was pleasant and seemed genuinely friendly. There were only 7 tables seated, so getting our booth was instantaneous. The waitress brought us water without being asked and took our order. We each had one of the three course specials, soup or salad, main course, and dessert. We ordered all three courses at once and the waitress could put in the dessert order at the appropriate time. I had the salad and wife had soup. Waitress asked 2-3 times if I wanted A-1 when she brought my steak out, and I politely declined each time. It became obvious she was having a long day. Main courses were uneventful. Up to Bob Evans standards. For some reason she brought my wife's dessert (fruit cup) at the same time as the main course. After placing my steak, she said she would go get a steak knife for me. I waited a few minutes and then gave up & started hacking at it with my butter knife before it got cold. She later explained that there were no clean steak knives in the store and one had to be washed. Then she forgot to bring it out. She returned to pick up our plates and then asked me what I wanted for dessert, even though she had taken my dessert order when we ordered dinner. Exhaustion aside, she maintained a smile and personable attitude and the tip reflected her efforts ($10 tip on a $17 check). Paying the bill was uneventful and everyone wished us a good evening when we headed for the door. All in all, I'd sooner take the extra 15 minute drive to this BE than eat at the Camden store around the corner from my house. Well done. We will be back.

When this location is good it is good, but when it's bad it's bad. I have had good experiences here and some really bad ones where I have left before even ordering. This location is close to me so have given it many chances. The food is reasonable the prices used to be also but they continue to go up and without a coupon it no longer seems like a thrifty meal.

When traveling up north it was great to see at least one familiar restaurant open on Thanksgving Day. So after a few crazy experiences to start the day...(5AM fire alarm at the hotel) we all needed something good to eat. So we jumped in the car...punched in the address ...and headed to Bob's. Goodness we were there in less than a minute. It took us 4 minutes to walk west to the car...and could have walked east 2 mins and been in the restaurant. talk about delirious! well...the breakfast was full of laughs and good food!

Craving breakfast. Torn between the Steak or seafood. I stuck with the omelete and the classic sausage. Service was prompt. Staff is friendly, restaurant is clean and tidy.

Tasty food. Huge portions. Our waiter was excellent. They need to wash well their floors, though--very sticky, specially in the restrooms. Felt yucky walking around.

Been going here about once a week for breakfast for ten years with my father. We like the wait staff but the food is inconsistent and sometimes just plain awful. Manager decided to be very rude and condescending the other week as we were paying our bill. That's how she treats customers and staff in her sweet sick criticizing, condescending tone. Won't return even if there aren't many local choices. Don't pay money for mediocre food and to be mistreated. Dover Delaware restaurant on north dupont highway

This is my first Bob Evans experience. It was late at night and we had stayed in a hotel that is behind this restaurant in North Dupont. I'm quite surprised with the menu because I did not expect that they have a wholesome kind of family food and value. I have been ignoring Bob Evans because it seems to be low par but it is better than any Denny's. Well, I can now say that I know Bob Evans. Give it a try, he is good and don't be ashamed that you are going to eat in a chain restaurant.
