I can't speak for the bad reviews, I can only speak for myself...my mom, sister and I went here on a limb (looking for the better wine deals) and my sister and I had the combo supreme..I also got the stuffed mushrooms, my sister had the stuffed shrimp..my mother got the mushrooms and shrimp...I was blown away...to say that these crab cakes have fillers in them is a bunch of bull crap..no fillers what so ever all crab meat. Ifk what the special sauce is but its so good. Everything was cooked to perfection. Its one young lady in there..slim, caramel complexion, sweetest approach and warming smile....she needs a raise. My order was delayed..she handled me with no hesitation... We're in the car now raving about this place on instagram and Facebook. Forget the bad reviews and get in a car and try them out. I live in philly and will making another trip here.

Stopped there on a Friday during Lent, after Home Depot run. It was very crowded, I figured that was a good sign. Ordered the cream of crab soup and a veggie flatbread to go. Couldn't wait to get home to have the soup, so I attacked it there at the store. Can't describe exactly how good it was without making rude noises. The cream of crab soup ranks up there with the top two that I have had, the other one was at Big Fish Grill - Pumpkin Crab Bisque. Anyway based on the the soup, I'm definitely going back to try the other offerings.

Trust me... Just go there. The crab cakes are some of the best I have ever had. Went to total wine and tried the place for take out. Both my wife and I ate two large cakes. Plus the apple puffs were great too. Will get more next time I'm in area.

I have to agree with the most recent reviewers. Just had the 6oz crab cake and it certainly has more filler than one would expect. The lump crab meat seems to decorate the outside of the cake but the inside is this moist bread pudding consistency. I didn't watch how they prepared it (broiled?) but whatever is in filler formed a crispy "shell" over the crab cake. Not exactly like the picture in their menu or website. Overall, still decent flavor.

Like many others have mentioned, I found Rigatonis Crab Cakes on a trip to Total Wine. I question the "famous" in their store name as I was totally disappointed in the crab cake they serve. I'm aware they have a full restaurant in Delco as I've been there before years ago. I forgot how disappointing these so called great crab cakes were. Great crab cakes are comprised of jumbo lump crab and very little filler. These were packed with filler, NOT crab. Not panko bread crumb filler to just hold the cake together but some weird bread pudding like consistency filler. These are not great crab cakes. Unfortunately, the crab cake chains in the area aren't much better. I love a great crab cake and the best I have found is in downtown Swarthmore at Occasionally Yours which offers them special on the first Friday of the month. Those are what great crab cakes taste like, not these. I also had a Caesar salad which was good. The wonderful woman at the counter suggested the sesame ginger dressing and it was delicious. In fact, I was impressed with all the folks who worked there. Awake, alive, friendly and customer service driven - a pleasure compared to the zombies working at Total Wine.

Had the crab pretzel and it was awesome!! I would eat here everyday ! Service was awesome and it wasn't that crowded. There's plenty of seating for dine in or you can take out. Beautiful place to go

Gray tasting crab cakes at a reasonable price. You would think with crab cakes so good that they are on the harbor.

For a small local place, the crab cakes are very delicious. The restaurant is set up like a pizza shop. You order at the counter to eat in or take out. They bring the food to you if you eat in. If you order to go, they call the number on your receipt when your order is ready. My fiance and I tried the place out the first week it opened. We each ordered a crab cake platter since they are known for their crab cakes. We also ordered a cup of soup each since it was cold out. The portions were small but the crab cake was very good. It was full of crab and not fillers. The soups were amazing! I had a crab chowder and it was full of crab, not too creamy and great seasoning. The second time we came, I ordered the crab cake sandwich. The brioche bun was a little too much for the 6 oz crab cake. I had to gut out the bun. That allowed me to enjoy the crab cake more. The next day my sister came to visit and wanted to try it. This time we ordered the crab balls. Definitely not as good as the crab cakes. It was full of fillers and not a great way to introduce my sister to it. My fiance and i will definitely be back to give the rest of the menu a try.

I spent most of last week at my sister's house in Claymont and wanted to try one of Rigatoni's supposedly "famous" crab cakes. Last Wednesday (02/10), my brother-in-law and I ordered two entrees for pickup: I got the 4 oz. Crab Cake Platter with a Mediterranean salad, and he got the Supreme Crab Combo with a Crab Pretzel. Although I enjoyed my crab cake, I wasn't too thrilled with the Mediterranean salad; I thought I was going to get an actual salad and instead I got pasta salad in an odd-tasting peppery sauce (?). Also, I wasn't too keen on the price. $8.99 for a small-ish crab cake is a bit steep in my opinion. I understand good crab meat can be expensive, but I have a feeling Rigatoni's tends to lean towards the high end of the pricing scale for no other reason than the fact that they have no competition. My brother-in-law wasn't entirely pleased with his meal. He said it was "all right", but then felt nauseous afterwards. He was sick for most of the evening nursing a queasy stomach. My sister tried some of the Crab Pretzel and started feeling sick late that evening into the next morning. Maybe there were some pieces of crab that weren't exactly fresh in that pretzel or in my brother-in-law's meal, but I do know that my crab cake was very good, and the pieces of the Crab Pretzel I ate didn't give me any digestive problems. Still, it's disconcerting that two out of three people who ate something from this establishment got sick. I don't like playing stomach roulette when I go out to eat.

The crab cake and stuffed onion ring was good. Coming from a cook, catering business owner, Philly blogger. The staff needs to be trained on professionalism and hygene. When working with food your hair should be covered, your hands should have gloves on. You don't take mac salad out the refrigerator for 15 min especially if the customer is taking it to go and has a hour drive. mind you I went back two days straight n i live in Philadelphia. you don't wipe food after it hits the counter back in the tray. if a customer requests to speak w the owner you take they info or give info on when is the best time they can be reached. they saved me on gas n miles on my car. #mycrabcakes are better anyways. with luv catering

Just found this place next door to Total Wine & More. Wow! The crab cake sandwich was awesome. I've had crab cake sandwiches elsewhere & this was hands down the best. But great taste doesn't stop there, the crab soup was just as appetizing and had lots of chucks of whole crabmeat not just flakes or slivers. The place was unassuming and clean. Large bathrooms that will accommodate a wheelchair. The service was very good & the whole staff was friendly. I wholeheartedly recommend you check them out if you get a chance.

The crab cakes they are famous for are the best in the area (and beyond), but if you want a real treat, order an original crab pretzel. One of the best things I have ever eaten... I'm now addicted. LOVE this place!

Crab cakes are good but always have been over in Prospect anyway. The flavor is in the filler though so kinda a bummer there's so much. "Crabby Fries" we're actually potatoes wedges and came out uncooked/cold on inside - don't waste your money on them. Crab cakes sandwiches are a tad over priced but still good if you're in the area.

We stopped at this place on a whim as we drove by. We are so glad we did! They had the best crab cakes, prices were great, service was friendly, place was clean, food was ready quickly. We aren't from the area but if we find ourselves driving by again, we will definitely stop here to eat!

This place apparently had just opened (grand opening signs "Rigatoni's best crab cakes" just went up). Stopped in to check it out after a trip to Total Wines next door. Usually skeptical of any restaurant, whether in Maryland or otherwise, that boasts of the "best" crab cakes, but they are not kidding! The smaller version of their crab cake sandwich was huge and packed with crab, very little filler. The crab -filled onion ring was delicious too. Told a gentleman behind the counter (owner?) how much we enjoyed the crab cakes and he told us there is another Rigatoni's restaurant in Prospect Park, PA. We will definitely check that place out too.
