I've eaten here twice thus far. The first time I was alone and had one of their 2 rolls lunch specials. I had the spicy tuna (which was really spicy and particularly delicious) and the shrimp tempura roll. The batter surrounding the shrimp tasted kind of stale and it was cold and sorta limp--disappointing. My waitress (a rather wonderful older lady) was very attentive to me and really personable. The second time my boyfriend and I shared two of their sushi platters. We couldn't finish all of it and I remember it being pretty good. Their philly roll had a bit too much cream cheese for my liking but the fish was fresh-tasting and all together enjoyable

Have been here about fifteen to twenty times, and if I had not relocated out of state, would have returned regularly. I have probably tried all of the chicken dishes, and the only one I would not order again was the Orange Chicken. The lemongrass chicken soup is tasty, but it is very spicy. The service is always excellent, and they are happy to customize any dish to your liking. Kenny is a pleasure to talk to; if you've been there a few times, he will remember you and come by to chat. If you haven't been, I strongly suggest it - Kenny's is a great place for lunch or dinner.

For starters it is quite expensive for what you get. What I got was $30 worth of specialty rolls and they burnt them in the fryer. Gross. Additionally, my girlfriend ordered some chicken teriyaki and the chicken was rubbery and watery. She asked for some extra sauce that was not watery and they insisted that they had to charge us for the extra sauce. We will never go back here again.

I loved the ambiance of this restaurant and I really enjoyed the food - but the service was absolutely terrible. My family and I decided to try this restaurant and in walking in were pleasantly surprised by the decor, the restaurant is very appealing. I was slightly thrown off that we were the only people in the restaurant but we were seated immediately. Quickly after being seated our waiter came over and took our drink orders. He wasn't unpleasant but at the same time he wasn't friendly at all. He didn't speak English well and didn't really understand anything we said that wasn't directly off the menu (which was kind of hard to deal with when discussing what the entrees were). After we ordered our drinks, we waited 15 minutes for him to come back to our table (as he was sitting in the back of the dinning room talking to a co worker) before we order our meals. We got an appetizer and were only given table settings for only 3 of us....? When our food came out one of the entrees was served medium cooked when it was requested to be well done. Also, if you didn't specifically ask for either white or brown rice you were given whatever one he felt you should have apparently. After my sister realized her meat wasn't cooked, we waited 15 more minutes for him to come back to the table to see we were okay and if the food was good. I finally got up and brought him to the table to tell him. He couldn't understand us so he brought the manager over and we explained it to him. I had to ask for refills on water but I was the only one given one.... We ate and she got another dish (which came out fast which was nice). After we finished our meals, he had not come back to see if her second dish was okay and all of our drinks were now/still/again empty. I got up and got one of the table cleaners to grab a to go box. By then we all were pretty mad. After she brought the box he came back with the bill. When we received the bill the gratuity was already on it, 18%. This waiter was terrible & I was not going to pay 18% gratuity for being thirsty most of my meal & running back and forth to find somebody to help us. When he came to the table we explained we weren't paying 18% and he said "no, you have 5, you must it's on our menu". He then RAN to get the manager. I told the manager the issue and he said you have to pay and he walked away. I then got up and walked to the other manager at the front desk and explained to her, she said the same thing, that we have to pay he works off tips. I explained he should do a better job then, we shouldn't be doing his job because there's 5 of us and he knows he's getting paid whether he's bad or not. She cut me off from talking repeatedly and offered no resolution. The food was okay but not worth the hassle. I would have gone back just because there are not many sushi places, especially decent sushi places in the area but after receiving such terrible service - which is not necessarily a restaurant's fault because there are bad workers you have to weed out/train better - understandable, but then being treated that way by the owners/managers I will never support this establishment. They mistreat their customers & do not train/correct their staff.

I had a hankering for sashimi this evening, and decided to give Kenny's a shot, since I didn't want to fight traffic over to Mayflower in Newark, or Miki's in Wilmington. We got the boat for 2, and at $70, I'd expect it to be a great meal. It was completely uninspiring, and mostly filler sushi. Tuna, white tuna, tuna, white tuna, tuna.....get the idea? There was some mackerel, which is NOT for the faint of heart, but no eel, no octopus, no roe, NOTHING I'd expect for $70. The cut was not cross grain, and poorly executed. At least at Miki's you get salad, soup, etc for $60. You can get better executed sushi for 1/2 the price at Mayflower. Not 1 star, but barely eeks out a 2. Stay away for sushi.

What a train wreck. My family decided to try Kenny's since we were in the mood for some good Asian food. The place is attractive and there were many families with children inside so that gave us hope. Bitter, false hope. First, they have no children's menu. Ok, we can adapt to that. Our daughter loves salad so we ask about the chef's special salad. The waitress (who took ten minute to take our order) mumbled something about rice and greens when we asked what was in it. That sounded alright. When it came, it had a little seaweed at the bottom, no rice, raw tuna, and something else we couldn't identify. We ordered pork pan-fried potstickers for an app and they were the most bland and flavorless potstickers I've ever had. My wife ordered salmon terriakyi and got chicken instead. The veggies with her supposed-to-be-salmon were completely uncooked while the chicken was so over-cooked and tough that my wife eventually asked for a power saw because her arms wore out. I ordered a couple of sushi rolls which came out warm and tasted as if they had been warm for some time. So yes, a total disaster from start to finish. Add in the high price for the mediocre food and we will not be bothering with this place again.

Clearly the word is out about this place, which is great because the owner and his wife are super nice people who bust their tail to make this unlikely business work in a shopping center in Bear. The new section of Governor's Square is turning out to be a cut above the average strip mall, and Kenny's is one reason. This was my first trip here, although my wife went once before, and returned home with a burnt mouth. Her desire to return impressed me. Several starters interested us, so we got the sampler. I loved the coconut shrimp and the veggie spring roll, and the flavor of the Satay chicken was good, although the chicken was a bit tough. The edamame had us a bit stumped, but we gamely tried it, and remained stumped. Chewy Snow peas served like popcorn? Anyway, on to the main dishes. I ordered the spicy chili chicken to go with my Sapporo, and the wife had teriyaki chicken. In summary, I was happier than she. My dish was spicy in a sneaky sense, not burning on initial contact, but inevitably requiring me to ask for additional beverages. The preparation was attractive, everything cooked just right. The wife was a little surprised to see two half chicken breasts instead of chicken cubes, which thwarted her plans to use chopsticks. In the end, she left half her meal behind, stating that she could have prepared it just as well. The decor was definitely something you would not expect to walk into from a strip parking lot, with muted orange walls sporting large candle holders, and a finished recessed ceiling. There is a separate sushi bar seating about 6-8, which awaits me in the future. It all reasonably compares to Potstickers in Christiana, not quite as good or fancy, but cheaper. I'll likely be back, although I might be dining alone.

Fantastic!! Delaware is known for its horrible locationed fantastic places to eat. this is one. I stopped in on a sunday evening by myself at the bar. It was dead which is horrible because what I had would make me think people would be wanting to come in! Kenny himself was my head waiter and he was a very sweet guy. of course he knew what he was talking about. I would def. tell anyone to come here on a date or just to grab a drink. very beautiful inside and clean. LOOVED IT!

I absolutely love this restaurant! Kenny's is one of the best Asian restaurant I have been to and it is definitely one of the my favorite restaurants in Delaware. I visit Kenny's about once a week. The food is fresh and delicious. I love the calamari appetizer and they have great sushi--a rarity in the area. The service is always fast and very attentive. I highly recommend Kenny's for a relaxing night out and they do takeout.

Sushi? Asian? BEAR?!?!? I live in a land of strip malls and chain stores. There is no originality anywhere in Bear, so when this place opened, I had to check it out, as it's one of a kind (read- not a chain). The first time I went for lunch. It was a weekday and Tony and I needed a break from patients, so we wandered in about 1pm and we were surprised that we were the only table. The decor is very nice, very asian-trendy-sleek, and were seated by the window. I couldn't help but wonder if that was done on purpose to make the place look alive. We split an appetizer that was three different kinds of steamed dumplings. We each tried a veggie, a pork, and something else. The veggie was ok, the pork was great, and I can't remember the third kind so it couldn't have been that memorable. The part that made me dislike the dish was the accompanying dipping sauce, which tasted like ketchup. Sadly, no soy sauce was on the table, which would have made the dish much better (there's nothin a little soy can't fix). For lunch, they offer miso soup and two basic rolls for $9. As two basic rolls isn't nearly enough for moi, I ordered two $9 lunches. The miso was ok. The rolls were good for very basic rolls. I had a spicy tuna, a cali, an alaska roll (salmon and avacado), and three spicy yellowtail. It was all good and filling, but I don't think that what I ordered is a true sampling of maki rolls. New Years Eve plans changed when Noah got sick as we were walking out the door, so I decided to treat myself and order take-out. I called and my order was ready in 20 minutes, which was very fast considering I ordered plenty of maki rolls. Here is what we had: 1. Shrip Pad Thai- a pretty basic Thai dish, this one didn't nearly measure up to my favorite Thai place, Tasti Thai. It was sort of...bland. But we definitely ate it all. 2. Veggie dumplings- Noah made the same ketchup comment as I did. He ate about half of the order. The other half sat in the fridge for a few days before I threw them out. 3. A rainbow roll- very good. 4. A spicy tuna roll- also very good. 5. An Alaska roll- delish. 6. A caterpillar roll. Let me preface this by saying that this is, hands down, my favorite roll. It's got eel and avocado, and the BBQ eel sauce is the best taste. This was the roll I saved for last because I love it THAT much. But after a few pieces, I was done. I was actually going to walk away from sushi, let alone a caterpillar roll. The eel had a funky texture and the avocado tasted too mushy and was already starting to brown. The last two pieces just wouldn't go down. Kenny's has been open long enough to work out kinks. Still, it is nice to see an original restaurant in Bear. If you're looking for simple, basic rolls, this is a good spot, but for more adventurous sushi eating, I'd head to Okura.

[for quick scanning, i've CAPPED the salient points, including the dishes reviewed.] despite the bizarre name for a pan asian place, kenny's (why?) is a WELCOME ADDITION to the pathetic delaware dining scene; of the few places actually worth eating at, many located in strip malls (see jasmine, la tolteca, cromwell's, pizza by elizabeth's, cafe verdi, asian palace, utage, back burner, toscana, and caurso's bistro, to name a few) kenny's is no exception, and it's unfortunate location can't be held against them--it's a (backwater) delaware thing. the place is new and still unknown: i was there at 8 on a saturday, walked right in, and had my pick of tables. that has nothing to do with the food or ambiance. the decor and food presentation is modern (a la mikimoto's) and well executed (only the wait staff seems out of place). in fact, this place is MIKIMOTO'S SOUTH; it's not as 'hip' because it's not in the city (and it's in a strip mall), but that designation is only for the vacuous, trendy-types. [after all, nothing in wilmington is actually hip because it's located in wilmington, delaware! come on people. get a clue. if you actually consider wilmington a city (and hip at that), you're as provincial as it gets and a true delawarean. all that said, kenny's is unfortunately in bear, which is low-end by almost any standard. if kenny had set up shop in hockessin, his fortune would have been assured.] kenny's APP SAMPLER was nice, except for the COCONUT SHRIMP which seems to have been rolled in sweetened coconut (like you expect to find in an almond joy{tm}) instead of unsweetened coconut. i ate one, but they weren't edible. [for the uninitiated, EDAMAME is soybean. see en.wikipedia.org/wiki/So… . kenny's edamame was tasty.] the RED CURRY SEAFOOD SOUP was absolutely outstanding. it is somewhat spicy, so be warned. but if you like fishy and spicy and you generally like them together, get this soup. it's also surprisingly creamy or buttery or both. never tasted anything like it and *almost* licked my bowl. the GINGER HOUSE SALAD was better than most. i'd guess the ginger dressing was freshly made in-house and dresses dandelion greens instead of low-rent iceberg like everywhere else. the NEW ORLEANS ROLL and FANCY LOBSTER ROLL were both terrific, and the latter had such girth that it was difficult to fit the slices in my mouth. i managed somehow and soldiered on to the GENERAL TAO'S [pronounced 'dow' like dow jones industrial average or tao te ching] CHICKEN. again, excellent. i've had this dish many times, but kenny's put their own touch on this over-done dish. none of the chicken pieces were too large and were all nice and crispy. the sauce was succulent and syrupy. the dish, like most places, is marked hot, but, again, like most places, that means american-hot or not-very-hot. i even asked for it extra hot, but it wasn't. [i am, however, a hardened Scovillian (see en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sc… ), so use your own judgment.] kenny's offers an ample selection of sushi/sashimi and unique rolls, including a separate section for vegetarian sushi and rolls. the entrees mix standard pan asian with some unique and interesting options, and, again, included a separate vegetarian entree section. i'm a pain in the ass for a restaurant to please, but KENNY'S MAKES MY SHORT LIST. one bit of advice though: GO NOW. knowing what lemmings most delawareans are [i really shouldn't pick on delaware here: most people are lemmings], kenny's will either go out of business soon or the herd will find it and it will be packed to the point of annoyance (see jasmine).

I don't want to say it was totally terrible or anything, but it certainly wasn't very good. First I ordered a spicy white tuna just to see how their sushi was in general. It was okay but there was tons of spicy mayo on top of them cut side up, not mixed into the sushi roll. The rice was seasoned okay, and the tuna was fresh. I wish I could say the same for the sushi regular platter I got. I was debating between that and the chirashi, but when I asked the waitress for a description to get an idea what I would be in for, she had no idea how to explain it, and didn't seem interested in explaining it either. Good sushi restaurants will actually give you some daikon or accompaniments to a sushi platter, but there was nothing on this platter but 8 pieces of sushi, most of which I couldn't identify, and a tuna roll. The tuna roll was fine which made it surprising that the piece of tuna sushi I ate didn't taste right and was likely not good anymore. I certainly felt nauseous after dinner. I should have probably just ordered another roll but I thought the variety would make things more interesting. Unfortunately, it wasn't the best quality sushi I've had. My husband also ordered the red curry chicken. I didn't try any, but when he feels something needs salt, it must really need it because he doesn't eat food as salty as I do. He wasn't happy with his food either, but at least he didn't feel sick. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant. We're still on the search for good thai food...

The food is good, but not worth the 18+ bucks for one roll. They would not honor a coupon I had on my phone after I spent over $70 on takeout. Told me i had to physically print it out in order to use it. Horrible customer service and a pretty big mistake on their part. I'll be happy to spend my $70 elsewhere in the future. Won't be returning again and will tell my friends and family.

Thought this place was great. Walked right in, was seated promptly and everything ordered arrived quickly. Had a bowl of wonton soup which was perfect and hit my comfort food seeking spot. The wontons were flavorful and soft while the broth was flavorful without having that sheen of oil on top that other restaurants seem to have. We were a party of four and we ordered 4 rolls. I was remiss in not photographing the spread, but all of the rolls were wonderful. There was nothing on the table that I disliked. If I am back in the area, I would totally stop in again.

RJ brought me here last week. I ordered the Raspberry Orchid drink which was delicious, Absolut Raspberry, Parrot Bay Coconut Rum, Cranberry and Pineapple Juices. RJ had a Spicy Kani salad which I have never had before. It was very spicy with crab and seaweed, we loved it. We also had Rock Shrimp tempura which was excellent. It had 2 large tempura shrimp with squash, sweet potato, asparagus, and peppers. I had Kenny's lobster roll and RJ had the Spicy Crab Stick roll and the Spider roll. The flavors were fantastic, and we didn't have anything left over afterward. It's pretty pricey here even with the Groupon, but everything is so good!!

I'm not sure how I feel about Kenny's. I've been there at least 4 times and Every time we went, my boyfriend and I were the only people in the restaurant. The food is pretty decent especially the crab fried rice, but the prices are way too high for the portion. For example a coconut shrimp appetizer is $7 and you get 4 small shrimp. The generals chicken is great the sauce is spiced perfectly without being overbearing and the fried ice cream is also pretty good. With a $30 groupon if you get an app and dessert you should still expect to spend another $30 to cover the difference and the tip. Overall it's ok. I wouldn't go out of my way but It's worth a try.

Stopped by Kenny's Pan Asian to get some sushi. The sushi is very good and the service is outstanding. If you want great authentic sushi in Bear Delaware go to Kenny's. The establishment is nicely decorated and the music is contemporary.

I am a huge sushi fan and was excited to try Kenny's since it's so close. I got some basic rolls, a philly, a spicy California, and the spicy white tuna. I was very disappointed as the spicy white tuna actually made me gag by how extremely fishy it was. All the pieces in each roll were very thick and too much. Don't think I'll be coming back here again.

Sometimes we just drive around looking for dinner, hoping to come across something new, that we have not tried before (like a modern version of hunting). That's how we found Kenny's. We had no idea it existed prior to passing through the parking lot (on a hunt). From the outside, it doesn't look like much. The windows are dark and you're not quite sure what you're walking into. The inside however is quite classy. We found the ambiance to be very romantic and actually recommended this restaurant as nice place for a date. The food is good. We found the food presentation pretty impressive, which makes for great food selfies (if that's your thing) #foodporn. Our entrees were very good in terms of taste. Not "amazing/ everyone has to try this" good.... but they were very good. I would say the food is a tad overpriced but if you factor in the ambiance and decor of the restaurant and the gourmet food presentation, the pricing makes sense. Like others have said, it was pretty dead. There was only one other table there while we were there. Overall, we liked Kenny's and would recommend it for a romantic evening with your significant other.

We love the thai basil they serve, but our last few experiences have been very bad. The lady at the reception(wearing glasses, I don't know her name) was extremely rude. It was the second time it happened today. We just asked if they could give us the seat by the window (the seat was vacant) and we got a very rude NO. It sounded like she was doing a favor by offering us any seat at the restaurant. Please show some respect to your customers.

We ordered dinner from there and I'm not sure if was because it was at night (around 7-8p) but the food was not good or fresh. We ordered the seaweed salad, Chilean sea bass, a sashimi tuna, and the volcano maki roll. When we got home just by opening the boxes it immediately had that "fishy" smell. We decided to at least try it lest we judge the food prematurely but it tasted terrible. We ended up throwing out pretty much all of the food, and promptly putting it outside as it filled up the whole kitchen with that smell. It's a shame because we were looking forward to trying this place as it's close to home.

Prices don't match the portions. $8 for a calamari app with maybe 10-15 small pieces of calamari on a saucer-sized dish. $16 for a sushi roll that's half the size of what you would get at a comparable restaurant in DE (Mikimotos/Potstickers/Jasmine). I could go on but basically, the prices are the same as comparable restaurants in the area, but the portions (at least the meals I've seen) are much smaller. The entrees are definitely enough for one person, and you won't leave hungry, but for the same price at Potstickers, you would have leftovers for the next day. The food itself is pretty decent, but nothing extraordinary. The service is quick and friendly. For some reason, this place is always empty. I have never seen it crowded. I probably wouldn't come here again, save for the fact it's 2 minutes from my mom's house. DE has limited options for good Asian food, but most are at least marginally better than Kenny's.

An addition: At peak dinner times it is a bit loud. I was with my dad who is a bit older and it was tough for him to hear the conversation. But once the crown thinned out, all was well.

First of all this is NOT a review for sushi. I took my mom here today for lunch. First time here for both of us.There was only another couple there, but on a beautiful sunny and warm Monday afternoon, I wasn't surprised. We both got the Chinese Bento Box, hers was the General Tao's chicken, mine was the Hunan chicken. She got the Wonton soup and myself, the Miso soup. They were amazing! We couldn't pick whose was better. But she doesn't like anything spicy, so hers was perfect for her. My Hunan had a "kick" to it, which was delicious. With it being not crowded, I feared what usually happens when a restaurant is slow...the servers seem to disappear with their socializing, cell phones, etc. Not this staff. They couldn't have been better. Our server was Chris. He was a perfect waiter, with timing, and knowing when to check on us. Also ready with info on suggestions, or changing up the dish to suit my mom. Very attentive with our questions and requests. It was a wonderful experience and my mom already said she wants to go back next week. Great service, and great food! Don't fear the strip mall, it's just an unfortunate location, but it didn't show in our experience at all!

This is one of the three local sushi places that I seem to always go back to. I usually stick to sushi, but their Pad Thai is also very tasty and hearty. The wait staff can be hit or miss, but it doesn't keep me from coming back.

So several things made a bit concerned about going to Kenny's in Bear. First of all it is Kenny's (hoped it was a nickname or something) and it is in Delaware. Some of the asian food is a bit lackluster in DE, or perhaps I am just picky as I have mentioned before. However, I was pleasantly surprised by my trip to Kenny's. I tried several dishes over 2 visits and I chose a 3 star rating. The chinese dishes that I had (mongolian beef and sampling of someone's orange chicken) were pretty good. The beef was tender and not velveted or dusted with flour. The onions were sliced thinly and evenly with a sweet yet tangy flavor to them. Sauce was thin but did cling to the individual items. It was a not a heavy syrupy sauce that was overpowering like many places. The chicken was lightly breaded and cooked well to maintain some juiciness. The sushi was moderate in quality. The rice was well made but the su was average to weak. We went with some rolls that had cooked items to sample. The crab was well made but the remainder of the roll was average. The lobster was average. Singapore curry vermicelli was average. While the noodles were thin and well cooked without being clumpy or gummy it was not a great dish. Average at best. I will go back to Kenny's but will likely stick to the chinese entrees rather then their sushi.

I used to love Kenny's more than I do now. It's the best option for sushi near me, so I tend to do take out. My favorite used to be the dynamite roll, but I have gotten tired of the particular sauce that they use. But I do enjoy their sushi fish -- always fresh and delicious! When I go now, I usually have a Groupon or Living Social deal. I don't do as much take out as I used to do with them. When I go, I order sushi every time. Other than the dynamite roll, I'm not disappointed. My new favorite roll is the pink lady, I think.

On major disappointments about this restaurant is most of the cuisine is prepared in the same sweet sauce. I along with my dinner guest have tried a number of menu items. No culinary creativity in what could possibly be extraordinay dishes -very disappointing. Suggest hiring a new executive chief who could make this a spectacular culinary spot.

Me & My Fiance bought a livingsocial coupon for this place. Thought we would try it since it is closer than our favorite sushi place (Takumi). We went on a friday night and the place was pretty empty. The restaurant does not seperate the bar from the restaurant. The room is an open space and even with the smaller amount of people that were there at that time.... it was LOUD which turned me off a bit. The Sushi i give 3 stars. Although they have creative rolls, the taste just didn't blow me away. We got the Mango chicken which just was too sweet and the sauce was too heavy. The Fried Vegetables with Tofu was pretty delicious. I have to say i have never had Tofu cooked like that & it was amazing. Service was okay but not great. Waited a while for refill & check to be delivered. All in all.... 3 stars. I will continue to travel for an overall better meal.

I'm a fan of Kenny's. Their Thai Iced Tea is the best I've had! I have been there many times, but when ever I go, the whole wait staff seems to know what I usually get. I guess I am a know customer there, but they are always so courteous and the food there is always good. I cannot eat seafood, and they, by far have the BEST vegetarian sushi menu around.

This is the closest sushi place to my home, so I've been here quite a few times. While the sushi is good, I think it's overpriced compared to the many other sushi places I have been to. One specialty roll was about $22, and while it was good, I'm not sure why it was that much. Even the phily rolls are overpriced compared to other locations. Maybe Kenny knows that he's got that area covered.....so yea, I'll be back, because it is delicious.

Decent restaurant to visit when your group can't decide what kind of americanized asian food to go for, but they do each pretty well. Godzilla roll was our favorite of the sushi we picked and the General Tso's Shrimp (we asked for extra spicy) was plump, crispy, flavorful, but syrupy and only "American Spicy". I had a tasty lychee martini that was subtly sweet, as it should be. I would go again if others were set on it, but Bamboo House, Le Shio, and Jasmine are not all that far away, and each are superior choices.

I've eaten here twice thus far. The first time I was alone and had one of their 2 rolls lunch specials. I had the spicy tuna (which was really spicy and particularly delicious) and the shrimp tempura roll. The batter surrounding the shrimp tasted kind of stale and it was cold and sorta limp--disappointing. My waitress (a rather wonderful older lady) was very attentive to me and really personable. The second time my boyfriend and I shared two of their sushi platters. We couldn't finish all of it and I remember it being pretty good. Have been here about fifteen to twenty times, and if I had not relocated out of state, would have returned regularly. I have probably tried all of the chicken dishes, and the only one I would not order again was the Orange Chicken. The lemongrass chicken soup is tasty, but it is very spicy. The service is always excellent, and they are happy to customize any dish to your liking. Kenny is a pleasure to talk to; if you've been there a few times, he will remember you and come by to chat. If you haven't been, I strongly suggest it - Kenny's is a great place for lunch or dinner.

For starters it is quite expensive for what you get. What I got was $30 worth of specialty rolls and they burnt them in the fryer. Gross. Additionally, my girlfriend ordered some chicken teriyaki and the chicken was rubbery and watery. She asked for some extra sauce that was not watery and they insisted that they had to charge us for the extra sauce. We will never go back here again.

I loved the ambiance of this restaurant and I really enjoyed the food - but the service was absolutely terrible. My family and I decided to try this restaurant and in walking in were pleasantly surprised by the decor, the restaurant is very appealing. I was slightly thrown off that we were the only people in the restaurant but we were seated immediately. Quickly after being seated our waiter came over and took our drink orders. He wasn't unpleasant but at the same time he wasn't friendly at all. He didn't speak English well and didn't really understand anything we said that wasn't directly off the menu (which was kind of hard to deal with when discussing what the entrees were). After we ordered our drinks, we waited 15 minutes for him to come back to our table (as he was sitting in the back of the dinning room talking to a co worker) before we order our meals. We got an appetizer and were only given table settings for only 3 of us....? When our food came out one of the entrees was served medium cooked when it was requested to be well done. Also, if you didn't specifically ask for either white or brown rice you were given whatever one he felt you should have apparently. After my sister realized her meat wasn't cooked, we waited 15 more minutes for him to come back to the table to see we were okay and if the food was good. I finally got up and brought him to the table to tell him. He couldn't understand us so he brought the manager over and we explained it to him. I had to ask for refills on water but I was the only one given one.... We ate and she got another dish (which came out fast which was nice). After we finished our meals, he had not come back to see if her second dish was okay and all of our drinks were now/still/again empty. I got up and got one of the table cleaners to grab a to go box. By then we all were pretty mad. After she brought the box he came back with the bill. When we received the bill the gratuity was already on it, 18%. This waiter was terrible & I was not going to pay 18% gratuity for being thirsty most of my meal & running back and forth to find somebody to help us. When he came to the table we explained we weren't paying 18% and he said "no, you have 5, you must it's on our menu". He then RAN to get the manager. I told the manager the issue and he said you have to pay and he walked away. I then got up and walked to the other manager at the front desk and explained to her, she said the same thing, that we have to pay he works off tips. I explained he should do a better job then, we shouldn't be doing his job because there's 5 of us and he knows he's getting paid whether he's bad or not. She cut me off from talking repeatedly and offered no resolution. The food was okay but not worth the hassle. I would have gone back just because there are not many sushi places, especially decent sushi places in the area but after receiving such terrible service - which is not necessarily a restaurant's fault because there are bad workers you have to weed out/train better - understandable, but then being treated that way by the owners/managers I will never support this establishment. They mistreat their customers & do not train/correct their staff.

I had a hankering for sashimi this evening, and decided to give Kenny's a shot, since I didn't want to fight traffic over to Mayflower in Newark, or Miki's in Wilmington. We got the boat for 2, and at $70, I'd expect it to be a great meal. It was completely uninspiring, and mostly filler sushi. Tuna, white tuna, tuna, white tuna, tuna.....get the idea? There was some mackerel, which is NOT for the faint of heart, but no eel, no octopus, no roe, NOTHING I'd expect for $70. The cut was not cross grain, and poorly executed. At least at Miki's you get salad, soup, etc for $60. You can get better executed sushi for 1/2 the price at Mayflower. Not 1 star, but barely eeks out a 2. Stay away for sushi.

What a train wreck. My family decided to try Kenny's since we were in the mood for some good Asian food. The place is attractive and there were many families with children inside so that gave us hope. Bitter, false hope. First, they have no children's menu. Ok, we can adapt to that. Our daughter loves salad so we ask about the chef's special salad. The waitress (who took ten minute to take our order) mumbled something about rice and greens when we asked what was in it. That sounded alright. When it came, it had a little seaweed at the bottom, no rice, raw tuna, and something else we couldn't identify. We ordered pork pan-fried potstickers for an app and they were the most bland and flavorless potstickers I've ever had. My wife ordered salmon terriakyi and got chicken instead. The veggies with her supposed-to-be-salmon were completely uncooked while the chicken was so over-cooked and tough that my wife eventually asked for a power saw because her arms wore out. I ordered a couple of sushi rolls which came out warm and tasted as if they had been warm for some time. So yes, a total disaster from start to finish. Add in the high price for the mediocre food and we will not be bothering with this place again.

Clearly the word is out about this place, which is great because the owner and his wife are super nice people who bust their tail to make this unlikely business work in a shopping center in Bear. The new section of Governor's Square is turning out to be a cut above the average strip mall, and Kenny's is one reason. This was my first trip here, although my wife went once before, and returned home with a burnt mouth. Her desire to return impressed me. Several starters interested us, so we got the sampler. I loved the coconut shrimp and the veggie spring roll, and the flavor of the Satay chicken was good, although the chicken was a bit tough. The edamame had us a bit stumped, but we gamely tried it, and remained stumped. Chewy Snow peas served like popcorn? Anyway, on to the main dishes. I ordered the spicy chili chicken to go with my Sapporo, and the wife had teriyaki chicken. In summary, I was happier than she. My dish was spicy in a sneaky sense, not burning on initial contact, but inevitably requiring me to ask for additional beverages. The preparation was attractive, everything cooked just right. The wife was a little surprised to see two half chicken breasts instead of chicken cubes, which thwarted her plans to use chopsticks. In the end, she left half her meal behind, stating that she could have prepared it just as well. The decor was definitely something you would not expect to walk into from a strip parking lot, with muted orange walls sporting large candle holders, and a finished recessed ceiling. There is a separate sushi bar seating about 6-8, which awaits me in the future. It all reasonably compares to Potstickers in Christiana, not quite as good or fancy, but cheaper. I'll likely be back, although I might be dining alone.

Fantastic!! Delaware is known for its horrible locationed fantastic places to eat. this is one. I stopped in on a sunday evening by myself at the bar. It was dead which is horrible because what I had would make me think people would be wanting to come in! Kenny himself was my head waiter and he was a very sweet guy. of course he knew what he was talking about. I absolutely love this restaurant! Kenny's is one of the best Asian restaurant I have been to and it is definitely one of the my favorite restaurants in Delaware. I visit Kenny's about once a week. The food is fresh and delicious. I love the calamari appetizer and they have great sushi--a rarity in the area. The service is always fast and very attentive. I highly recommend Kenny's for a relaxing night out and they do takeout.

Sushi? Asian? BEAR?!?!? I live in a land of strip malls and chain stores. There is no originality anywhere in Bear, so when this place opened, I had to check it out, as it's one of a kind (read- not a chain). The first time I went for lunch. It was a weekday and Tony and I needed a break from patients, so we wandered in about 1pm and we were surprised that we were the only table. The decor is very nice, very asian-trendy-sleek, and were seated by the window. I couldn't help but wonder if that was done on purpose to make the place look alive. We split an appetizer that was three different kinds of steamed dumplings. We each tried a veggie, a pork, and something else. The veggie was ok, the pork was great, and I can't remember the third kind so it couldn't have been that memorable. The part that made me dislike the dish was the accompanying dipping sauce, which tasted like ketchup. Sadly, no soy sauce was on the table, which would have made the dish much better (there's nothin a little soy can't fix). For lunch, they offer miso soup and two basic rolls for $9. As two basic rolls isn't nearly enough for moi, I ordered two $9 lunches. The miso was ok. The rolls were good for very basic rolls. I had a spicy tuna, a cali, an alaska roll (salmon and avacado), and three spicy yellowtail. It was all good and filling, but I don't think that what I ordered is a true sampling of maki rolls. New Years Eve plans changed when Noah got sick as we were walking out the door, so I decided to treat myself and order take-out. I called and my order was ready in 20 minutes, which was very fast considering I ordered plenty of maki rolls. Here is what we had: 1. Shrip Pad Thai- a pretty basic Thai dish, this one didn't nearly measure up to my favorite Thai place, Tasti Thai. It was sort of...bland. But we definitely ate it all. 2. Veggie dumplings- Noah made the same ketchup comment as I did. He ate about half of the order. The other half sat in the fridge for a few days before I threw them out. 3. A rainbow roll- very good. 4. A spicy tuna roll- also very good. 5. An Alaska roll- delish. 6. A caterpillar roll. Let me preface this by saying that this is, hands down, my favorite roll. It's got eel and avocado, and the BBQ eel sauce is the best taste. This was the roll I saved for last because I love it THAT much. But after a few pieces, I was done. I was actually going to walk away from sushi, let alone a caterpillar roll. The eel had a funky texture and the avocado tasted too mushy and was already starting to brown. The last two pieces just wouldn't go down. Kenny's has been open long enough to work out kinks. Still, it is nice to see an original restaurant in Bear. If you're looking for simple, basic rolls, this is a good spot, but for more adventurous sushi eating, I'd head to Okura.

[for quick scanning, i've CAPPED the salient points, including the dishes reviewed.] despite the bizarre name for a pan asian place, kenny's (why?) is a WELCOME ADDITION to the pathetic delaware dining scene; of the few places actually worth eating at, many located in strip malls (see jasmine, la tolteca, cromwell's, pizza by elizabeth's, cafe verdi, asian palace, utage, back burner, toscana, and caurso's bistro, to name a few) kenny's is no exception, and it's unfortunate location can't be held against them--it's a (backwater) delaware thing. the place is new and still unknown: i was there at 8 on a saturday, walked right in, and had my pick of tables. that has nothing to do with the food or ambiance. the decor and food presentation is modern (a la mikimoto's) and well executed (only the wait staff seems out of place). in fact, this place is MIKIMOTO'S SOUTH; it's not as 'hip' because it's not in the city (and it's in a strip mall), but that designation is only for the vacuous, trendy-types. [after all, nothing in wilmington is actually hip because it's located in wilmington, delaware! come on people. get a clue. if you actually consider wilmington a city (and hip at that), you're as provincial as it gets and a true delawarean. all that said, kenny's is unfortunately in bear, which is low-end by almost any standard. if kenny had set up shop in hockessin, his fortune would have been assured.] kenny's APP SAMPLER was nice, except for the COCONUT SHRIMP which seems to have been rolled in sweetened coconut (like you expect to find in an almond joy{tm}) instead of unsweetened coconut. i ate one, but they weren't edible. [for the uninitiated, EDAMAME is soybean. see en.wikipedia.org/wiki/So… . kenny's edamame was tasty.] the RED CURRY SEAFOOD SOUP was absolutely outstanding. it is somewhat spicy, so be warned. but if you like fishy and spicy and you generally like them together, get this soup. it's also surprisingly creamy or buttery or both. never tasted anything like it and *almost* licked my bowl. the GINGER HOUSE SALAD was better than most. i'd guess the ginger dressing was freshly made in-house and dresses dandelion greens instead of low-rent iceberg like everywhere else. the NEW ORLEANS ROLL and FANCY LOBSTER ROLL were both terrific, and the latter had such girth that it was difficult to fit the slices in my mouth. i managed somehow and soldiered on to the GENERAL TAO'S [pronounced 'dow' like dow jones industrial average or tao te ching] CHICKEN. again, excellent. i've had this dish many times, but kenny's put their own touch on this over-done dish. none of the chicken pieces were too large and were all nice and crispy. the sauce was succulent and syrupy. the dish, like most places, is marked hot, but, again, like most places, that means american-hot or not-very-hot. i even asked for it extra hot, but it wasn't. [i am, however, a hardened Scovillian (see en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sc… ), so use your own judgment.] kenny's offers an ample selection of sushi/sashimi and unique rolls, including a separate section for vegetarian sushi and rolls. the entrees mix standard pan asian with some unique and interesting options, and, again, included a separate vegetarian entree section. i'm a pain in the ass for a restaurant to please, but KENNY'S MAKES MY SHORT LIST. one bit of advice though: GO NOW. knowing what lemmings most delawareans are [i really shouldn't pick on delaware here: most people are lemmings], kenny's will either go out of business soon or the herd will find it and it will be packed to the point of annoyance (see jasmine).

I don't want to say it was totally terrible or anything, but it certainly wasn't very good. First I ordered a spicy white tuna just to see how their sushi was in general. It was okay but there was tons of spicy mayo on top of them cut side up, not mixed into the sushi roll. The rice was seasoned okay, and the tuna was fresh. I wish I could say the same for the sushi regular platter I got. I was debating between that and the chirashi, but when I asked the waitress for a description to get an idea what I would be in for, she had no idea how to explain it, and didn't seem interested in explaining it either. Good sushi restaurants will actually give you some daikon or accompaniments to a sushi platter, but there was nothing on this platter but 8 pieces of sushi, most of which I couldn't identify, and a tuna roll. The tuna roll was fine which made it surprising that the piece of tuna sushi I ate didn't taste right and was likely not good anymore. I certainly felt nauseous after dinner. I should have probably just ordered another roll but I thought the variety would make things more interesting. Unfortunately, it wasn't the best quality sushi I've had. My husband also ordered the red curry chicken. I didn't try any, but when he feels something needs salt, it must really need it because he doesn't eat food as salty as I do. He wasn't happy with his food either, but at least he didn't feel sick. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant. We're still on the search for good thai food...

Thought this place was great. Walked right in, was seated promptly and everything ordered arrived quickly. Had a bowl of wonton soup which was perfect and hit my comfort food seeking spot. The wontons were flavorful and soft while the broth was flavorful without having that sheen of oil on top that other restaurants seem to have. We were a party of four and we ordered 4 rolls. I was remiss in not photographing the spread, but all of the rolls were wonderful. There was nothing on the table that I disliked. If I am back in the area, I would totally stop in again.

RJ brought me here last week. I ordered the Raspberry Orchid drink which was delicious, Absolut Raspberry, Parrot Bay Coconut Rum, Cranberry and Pineapple Juices. RJ had a Spicy Kani salad which I have never had before. It was very spicy with crab and seaweed, we loved it. We also had Rock Shrimp tempura which was excellent. It had 2 large tempura shrimp with squash, sweet potato, asparagus, and peppers. I had Kenny's lobster roll and RJ had the Spicy Crab Stick roll and the Spider roll. The flavors were fantastic, and we didn't have anything left over afterward. It's pretty pricey here even with the Groupon, but everything is so good!!

I'm not sure how I feel about Kenny's. I've been there at least 4 times and Every time we went, my boyfriend and I were the only people in the restaurant. The food is pretty decent especially the crab fried rice, but the prices are way too high for the portion. For example a coconut shrimp appetizer is $7 and you get 4 small shrimp. The generals chicken is great the sauce is spiced perfectly without being overbearing and the fried ice cream is also pretty good. With a $30 groupon if you get an app and dessert you should still expect to spend another $30 to cover the difference and the tip. Overall it's ok. I wouldn't go out of my way but It's worth a try.

I am a huge sushi fan and was excited to try Kenny's since it's so close. I got some basic rolls, a philly, a spicy California, and the spicy white tuna. I was very disappointed as the spicy white tuna actually made me gag by how extremely fishy it was. All the pieces in each roll were very thick and too much. Sometimes we just drive around looking for dinner, hoping to come across something new, that we have not tried before (like a modern version of hunting). That's how we found Kenny's. We had no idea it existed prior to passing through the parking lot (on a hunt). From the outside, it doesn't look like much. The windows are dark and you're not quite sure what you're walking into. The inside however is quite classy. We found the ambiance to be very romantic and actually recommended this restaurant as nice place for a date. The food is good. We found the food presentation pretty impressive, which makes for great food selfies (if that's your thing) #foodporn. Our entrees were very good in terms of taste. Not "amazing/ everyone has to try this" good.... but they were very good. I would say the food is a tad overpriced but if you factor in the ambiance and decor of the restaurant and the gourmet food presentation, the pricing makes sense. Like others have said, it was pretty dead. There was only one other table there while we were there. Overall, we liked Kenny's and would recommend it for a romantic evening with your significant other.

We love the thai basil they serve, but our last few experiences have been very bad. The lady at the reception(wearing glasses, I don't know her name) was extremely rude. It was the second time it happened today. We just asked if they could give us the seat by the window (the seat was vacant) and we got a very rude NO. It sounded like she was doing a favor by offering us any seat at the restaurant. Please show some respect to your customers.

We ordered dinner from there and I'm not sure if was because it was at night (around 7-8p) but the food was not good or fresh. We ordered the seaweed salad, Chilean sea bass, a sashimi tuna, and the volcano maki roll. When we got home just by opening the boxes it immediately had that "fishy" smell. We decided to at least try it lest we judge the food prematurely but it tasted terrible. We ended up throwing out pretty much all of the food, and promptly putting it outside as it filled up the whole kitchen with that smell. It's a shame because we were looking forward to trying this place as it's close to home.

The manager (Rose) was extremely rude. The honey walnut shrimp were awful, too much batter and small shrimp. The plates were cracked. The best thing in the restaurant was the waitress July. 1st and last time.

Never have had a reason to give this place less than 4 stars. I'd give 4.5 if I could. The Kung Pao chicken my wife had was flavorful, moderately spicy and plentiful. My sushi rolls were excellent. Drinks hit the spot. These folks have always been so friendly and courteous and this night was no exception. We like.

Prices don't match the portions. $8 for a calamari app with maybe 10-15 small pieces of calamari on a saucer-sized dish. $16 for a sushi roll that's half the size of what you would get at a comparable restaurant in DE (Mikimotos/Potstickers/Jasmine). I could go on but basically, the prices are the same as comparable restaurants in the area, but the portions (at least the meals I've seen) are much smaller. The entrees are definitely enough for one person, and you won't leave hungry, but for the same price at Potstickers, you would have leftovers for the next day. The food itself is pretty decent, but nothing extraordinary. The service is quick and friendly. For some reason, this place is always empty. I have never seen it crowded. I probably wouldn't come here again, save for the fact it's 2 minutes from my mom's house. DE has limited options for good Asian food, but most are at least marginally better than Kenny's.

Friendly service but the place is a little empty when we came for dinner. I ordered fried red snapper with mango salad... Didn't came out as the authentic thai red snapper that I expected. .. It came out as sweet and sour snapper with mango. You can check one of my pictures with ayada.. they make a great fresh fried snapper with manho salad. Pan asian offered the frozen one

Second visit. Our waitress made a world of difference in our experience from our prior visit. I feel bad I didn't catch her name. We ordered Mongolian Beef again which was delicious and I tried the General Tso's Chicken that she recommended. Both were great! She was very sweet and attentive!

Sushi was pretty good (volcano and Godzilla) Used a groupon, bought it on the spot and the girl let me use it which was a plus. She was friendly and sweet. Would only really go back because it's super close to home.

Got a groupon to check this place out, a major frustration. Food is fine but overly priced. Sushi is no better than whole food box but much more costly. Service is very slow. If I could give no stars I would. The absolutely WORST Asian restaurant I've ever been too. We ordered the sushi boat and the sushi was warm, tuna flavorless. The fried rice had absolutely NO flavor. It was white when it came out. I asked for some teriyaki sauce to flavor it up and the owner told me it would be TWO DOLLARS. Are u freaking kidding me. Wow.

A nice food menu. An extensive drink menu. A bit pricey but good friendly service. All in all a good food experience. A welcome break from all the chain restaurants in the area. An addition: At peak dinner times it is a bit loud. I was with my dad who is a bit older and it was tough for him to hear the conversation. But once the crown thinned out, all was well.

First of all this is NOT a review for sushi. I took my mom here today for lunch. First time here for both of us.There was only another couple there, but on a beautiful sunny and warm Monday afternoon, I wasn't surprised. We both got the Chinese Bento Box, hers was the General Tao's chicken, mine was the Hunan chicken. She got the Wonton soup and myself, the Miso soup. They were amazing! We couldn't pick whose was better. But she doesn't like anything spicy, so hers was perfect for her. My Hunan had a "kick" to it, which was delicious. With it being not crowded, I feared what usually happens when a restaurant is slow...the servers seem to disappear with their socializing, cell phones, etc. Not this staff. They couldn't have been better. Our server was Chris. He was a perfect waiter, with timing, and knowing when to check on us. Also ready with info on suggestions, or changing up the dish to suit my mom. Very attentive with our questions and requests. It was a wonderful experience and my mom already said she wants to go back next week. Great service, and great food! Don't fear the strip mall, it's just an unfortunate location, but it didn't show in our experience at all!

This is one of the three local sushi places that I seem to always go back to. I usually stick to sushi, but their Pad Thai is also very tasty and hearty. The wait staff can be hit or miss, but it doesn't keep me from coming back.

So several things made a bit concerned about going to Kenny's in Bear. First of all it is Kenny's (hoped it was a nickname or something) and it is in Delaware. Some of the asian food is a bit lackluster in DE, or perhaps I am just picky as I have mentioned before. However, I was pleasantly surprised by my trip to Kenny's. I tried several dishes over 2 visits and I chose a 3 star rating. The chinese dishes that I had (mongolian beef and sampling of someone's orange chicken) were pretty good. The beef was tender and not velveted or dusted with flour. The onions were sliced thinly and evenly with a sweet yet tangy flavor to them. Sauce was thin but did cling to the individual items. It was a not a heavy syrupy sauce that was overpowering like many places. The chicken was lightly breaded and cooked well to maintain some juiciness. The sushi was moderate in quality. The rice was well made but the su was average to weak. We went with some rolls that had cooked items to sample. The crab was well made but the remainder of the roll was average. The lobster was average. Singapore curry vermicelli was average. While the noodles were thin and well cooked without being clumpy or gummy it was not a great dish. Average at best. I will go back to Kenny's but will likely stick to the chinese entrees rather then their sushi.

I used to love Kenny's more than I do now. It's the best option for sushi near me, so I tend to do take out. My favorite used to be the dynamite roll, but I have gotten tired of the particular sauce that they use. But I do enjoy their sushi fish -- always fresh and delicious! When I go now, I usually have a Groupon or Living Social deal. I don't do as much take out as I used to do with them. When I go, I order sushi every time. Other than the dynamite roll, I'm not disappointed. My new favorite roll is the pink lady, I think.

On major disappointments about this restaurant is most of the cuisine is prepared in the same sweet sauce. I along with my dinner guest have tried a number of menu items. No culinary creativity in what could possibly be extraordinay dishes -very disappointing. Suggest hiring a new executive chief who could make this a spectacular culinary spot.

Me & My Fiance bought a livingsocial coupon for this place. Thought we would try it since it is closer than our favorite sushi place (Takumi). We went on a friday night and the place was pretty empty. The restaurant does not seperate the bar from the restaurant. The room is an open space and even with the smaller amount of people that were there at that time.... it was LOUD which turned me off a bit. The Sushi i give 3 stars. Although they have creative rolls, the taste just didn't blow me away. We got the Mango chicken which just was too sweet and the sauce was too heavy. The Fried Vegetables with Tofu was pretty delicious. I have to say i have never had Tofu cooked like that & it was amazing. Service was okay but not great. Waited a while for refill & check to be delivered. All in all.... 3 stars. I will continue to travel for an overall better meal.

I'm a fan of Kenny's. Their Thai Iced Tea is the best I've had! I have been there many times, but when ever I go, the whole wait staff seems to know what I usually get. I guess I am a know customer there, but they are always so courteous and the food there is always good. I cannot eat seafood, and they, by far have the BEST vegetarian sushi menu around.

This is the closest sushi place to my home, so I've been here quite a few times. While the sushi is good, I think it's overpriced compared to the many other sushi places I have been to. One specialty roll was about $22, and while it was good, I'm not sure why it was that much. Even the phily rolls are overpriced compared to other locations. Maybe Kenny knows that he's got that area covered.....so yea, I'll be back, because it is delicious.

Decent restaurant to visit when your group can't decide what kind of americanized asian food to go for, but they do each pretty well. Godzilla roll was our favorite of the sushi we picked and the General Tso's Shrimp (we asked for extra spicy) was plump, crispy, flavorful, but syrupy and only "American Spicy". I had a tasty lychee martini that was subtly sweet, as it should be. I would go again if others were set on it, but Bamboo House, Le Shio, and Jasmine are not all that far away, and each are superior choices.
