No pho-cking way. This pho was hardly edible. I have to admit that I ate nearly the entire bowl because I was devastatingly hungry and too chicken to send it back or refuse to pay. And even the worst pho (this place for sure!) is usually semi-good. See, I like Pho 79. Recently, I've been converted to Pho 95 but up north where I work options are more limited. I assumed that Pho 79 II would use the same recipe for pho as the original establishment on south Federal. No so. The garnishments were not fresh and very limited. I received a wilted basil leave and some slightly browned beans sprouts. The chicken broth was much darker than I remember the original Pho 79 serving and it was bland and heavier on the anise. Also, the chicken was way overcooked to the point it was very firm and nearly tasteless. The server was friendly and I felt absurd complaining over a 5 dollar bowl of soup, so I just drained most of my bowl of bad pho and went my way. I don't suggest anyone try this place specifically for the chicken pho. Other reviewers seem to disagree. Maybe they were just having an incredibly bad chicken pho day?

I'm not sure where to begin/// this is not your typical Pho house. Nor is it an average Pho 79. 5 Stars for the stage with drum set, wooden dance floor, straight from Vietnam decor, spaciousness, liquor license, having more than just pho on their menu and the faux waterfall and tropical get-up by the front door. This is a great place to relax and take your friends and family to enjoy a warm healthy meal. you can rent this place out for parties. This place reminded me of a Korean BBQ house in Seaside that my family used to hit up on Friday nights when I was about 6 or 7. We'd have Korean food and then hit the dance floor disco ball and lights flashing and all. I am hoping to hit that place up again this weekend if they still have the 70's thing going.

My wife and I have been eating Pho and other Vietnamese food for about 23 years. From here to California and as far away as Hawaii. Our favorite used to be the Pho 79 in Broomfield at 6650 W. 120th Ave. The food there is excellent! We judged all other Vietnamese restaurants by Pho 79 on 120th, they were our standard. Well when Dorothy and I stopped at Pho 79 on 74th what a surprise. The food was beyond anything we had EVER tasted! First off the egg rolls were crispy, hot (temperature),FULL of very tasty filling and big.The best we ever had! Next they served my wife her Crepes, we were startled, they were huge and filled with goodies. There was plenty of FRESH vegetables on the side. We knew after the first bite, they were the best we had ever had! But the greatest surprise was yet to come. Out of the kitchen, on the arms of a very friendly young man, came the most delicious bowl of Pho I had ever had! The veggies were all fresh, the meat was fresh and tasted wonderful. But the hook setter was the broth. It was the most flavorful we had ever encountered. All this eaten with a great cup of "Cafe Suda". Their great sweetened coffee. The waitestaff are all very polite and attentive. Especially one by the name of chinn. We asked chinn for some extras, limes, chilies, napkins and scallions in oil. There was only a few in the first bowl so I asked him for some more, he brought me a bowl full, with a big smile! All of the waiters greeted us and made us feel at home. Thumbs up to all the employees for making it a wonderful dining experience. We had a enlightening conversation with the Manger Mr. Son Nguyen. I told him how much we enjoyed his food and he was kind enough to share with my wife and I a little bit of the cooking procedure and what he had done to and for the restaurant since he became Manger. Son has a great eye for the future. Great plans and great goals. We wish for him and his great staff many blessings and much prosperity. Again in my wife's and my humble opinion, " IT'S THE VERY BEST WE'VE EVER HAD! " We highly recommend " Pho 79 " at 3049 W. 74th Ave.. For you " Pho-natics " get ready to be transported to flavor heaven. I almost forgot. We had Spring rolls also. BIG and extremely fresh. They were rolled by a master roller, (wish he would have been around in my "dube days"). They were firm and full of fresh ingredients! "IT'S THE BEST WE'VE EVER TASTED ". kaluua@aol.com

Sorry any real pho eater knows the pho here is not good. Try Pho Duy for the best pho in town.

I love this place. Especially since they added crawfish to their menu. 1) Cajun spice in medium = bomb! 2) The crawfish are huge. 3) The crawfish are always fresh. 4) Reminds me of The Boiling Crab in CA.. Oh, how I miss that place. 5) Ten times better than the crawfish served at Pappadeaux. 6) ..20 times better than The Red Claw. The Pho here is also great. The broth is on point. Kind owner, kind waiters. I like the che ba mau (three color pudding) and the iced green tea boba. My favorite!

This was good, but not as good as the one in Broomfield. Nothing bad here, but there are much better joints very close by.

This place is so cool inside. It's like a hidden gem. Staff is very friendly. The food was great the first time, but I went back a week later and it was not as good, however I would go back again.

Plates were dirty and sticky. Pho was flavorless. Table was also sticky. Sauces tasted absolutely weird. Veggie plate that always comes with pho was decent. I didn't even finish half of my pho. This place used to be pretty decent but over the years it went downhill. Would not recommend if you want quality pho.

I am a frequent visitor of Pho 79 II. I love their pho, eggrolls and boba. The staff is always very friendly and helpful. I just love this place!

I normally get the Bun Diec (combination rice noodle bowl) at all the Vietnamese restaurants I go to. The meat is usuallly flavorful, but the meat lacked flavor here. So it was just ok for me. I brought a party of 18 people: 6 of 18 got really, really sick afterwards (severe vomiting, diahrea, stomach cramping) - 2 of them were my kids. Not sure what made them sick, because we ate family style. This was my first time going to this location and I was ranting and raving about how good Vietnamese food is to many of the first-timers. But this experience has ruined their Vietnamese taste for food indefinitely. We will never go to this place again.

We love this place because it's good value, unpretentious, and really excellent food with friendly service. It's worth the drive down from Boulder every so often. The pho is outstanding but the other dishes (vermicelli with chicken, for example) are winners also. If you're in the mood for something authentic, low cost, and tasty, this place is a great bet.

Very definitely good Pho, the flavor is awesome and the portions are generous. Went to the restaurant on 74th and Federal twice and was impressed both times. The limeade is unbelievable! Went to the restaurant on 6650 West 120th Ave, once, terribly disappointed! The staff was too busy outside smoking and texting on their cell phones. I definitley won't go back to that one. What a shame employees don't take more pride in their work! I should hope they were employees and not the owners!! The experience on 120th bought the star rating down a bit.

LOVE this place. I'm not a pho connoisseur but think their pho choices are excellent and their other dishes are amazing as well. My husband and I came here on a chilly, rainy night after some hardcore thrift shopping for kitchen gadgets. At the time there was an Arc next door so we felt we'd hit a good combo. Pho definitely warms the soul on a chilly evening in winter! That was back in January/February and we have been back at least a dozen times since then. It is consistently delicious. The waitstaff is courteous and the dining room is never very full which is nice for quiet privacy although it makes me think a lot of people in Denver and Westminster are seriously missing out. Every time we go, we order the Vietnamese eggrolls. They are delicious beyond all reason. Crispy, with hot centers, very flavorful. I love the small bed of vermicelli with fried shallots they are served upon. The pho bowls are gigantic: I usually order a Small #6 (brisket and flank steak) and that fills me up nicely. The huge portions of vegetables and seasonings is a terrific addition. I love adding the mung bean and basil along with a little sriracha for a little extra heat. The vermicelli is always cooked just right and the broth has a wonderful delicate flavor. My husband has often ordered the Vietnamese crepe (without shrimp) which is delicious, and huge! We both end up full and satisfied at the end of the evening.

Pho 79 Westminster is under new management. We acknowledge that our reviews are not where they should be. We are focusing on rebuilding relationships with our customers by interacting with them through social networks. We appreciate every review, good or bad. Taking every bad review we have and fixing it. Starting with better service and a more consistent product. Please check-in through yelp or facebook when you visit our restaurant and let us know how we are doing.

I may be a fan of this joint, but not because of the Pho they have to offer. As you will read in the other reviews the Pho here clearly lacks and only satisfies those who don't know better. Being a white person I usually fall into the 'don't know better' category, but I have been trained over the years by the Asian influences in my life. The reason I still give 79 such a good rating is for the excellent service I have always received and for the Vietnamese egg roll boll. It's your regular noodle and vege bowl that is TOPPED with some of the best egg rolls in town. That accompanied with a full service bar (just ask them for any drink you like because you can't tell they serve booze) and you can't really have a bad experience. Overall 79 is a great place to dine, but if you need your Pho fix, head up to 120th and experience the duy.

Mom was in town and wanted to share one of my new favorite foods with her- pho. Amazingly inexpensive and a epiphanic joy when done with care. Pho 79 II (really, with the sequel roman numerals?) looked okay enough on the inside; maybe a little too 'we started trying to be kind of fancy but don't make enough money to keep the place up'. Went to the restroom to wash hands- again, not bad, but not as clean as I prefer to see in a restaurant bathroom. If you're not keeping up the restroom, which customers see, what does the kitchen look like? I ordered my mom a small steak bowl (very simple, my family's from the Midwest, right?) and myself my usual 'everything you got, minus tendon'. Bowls appeared, tendon was included in mine. Minus .5, not getting the order right. Sucky to have to drop pieces of unwanted stuff onto eating utensil 'baglet'. Broth at first taste seemed edible, but soon revealed itself to a mess: over-spiced and just plain off. If we are to believe Pho broth is based on French consomme, which makes sense, then the broth at Pho 79 II is, at best, completely missing the mark. At worst, they are using too-old cuts of beef and bones that are not stored properly and hard boiling them ( as opposed to lightly simmering); and finally not skimming of the nasty tasting foam and fat out. Produce sides looked okay- basil and saw leaf looked very green and fresh. Bean sprouts looked okay, but some dead brown pods appeared after I grabbed a couple handfuls. Limes looked leftover from the bar - not cleanly cut quarters. The sections looked already scraped and juiced. Weird. After tasting the broth, I started to look at the various slices of meat. All of them appeared on the verge, some with weird shiny scales. Tripe strips were not the beautifully colored off-white (which I'm used to seeing at Pho 7) but more yellowish-brown. Tendon was just plain f...messed up looking. I don't even like tendon, but compared to my favorite place on Hampden (whose tendon slices are at least consistently a gelataneous fatty strip), these things looked like peeled Freddy Krueger face-skin. A quick Google turns up some people who think that shiny scales on beef is ok, but this is not the case IMO. Go to a good deli and have them slice you some freshly opened roast beef date-stamped for expiration a couple months from now- no scales. Scales appear after turkey, ham, or beef has been sitting too long. (I believe the phenomenon is much increased on thinly sliced meat, as it will allow oxygen and bacteria to the entire growing medium of the slice.) Even the iced coffee tasted off. I suspect one would not want to see the back kitchen of this place. To top it off, as my mom paid for our lunch via credit card, the total was $16.75. As they rung her up, the checker took fifteen dollars cash out of the drawer and put it in a box. Huh? p.s. Please, take a close look at the positive reviews of this place- one is crawfish based to a weird degree, another decor based. A third four-star review admits the soup 'clearly lacks', says the egg-roll is worth four stars but really likes the bar. I rest my case. I can't recommend a stand-by alternative for those up north-west as I don't live up that way (though my brother brought me to another strip-joint place that was just fine); if you are more south and east I heartily recommend Pho 7.
