I have high standards for Mexican food, and 3 Margaritas is OK in my book. I've had much better, but frankly, my hope for good Mexican food rapidly diminishes as I get further north of Albuquerque or east of El Paso. My friend Dave recommended 3 Marg as a decent enough place to dine before we headed off to see Hobbit 2 on a 10f evening, and it served well. Four of us: I went with my comparison standard shredded beef chimichanga, my wife and one companion had the molé chicken, and Dave had something that I don't recall. Everyone was satisfied with their food, though it was agreed that the chicken would have been much improved had it simmered in the sauce rather than just have it poured over before serving. The chimi was acceptable with decent flavor, and the kitchen got the order right by not including rice on my plate. Chips and salsa were agreeable, though I thought the chips less than fresh. Dave got some of their special hot salsa, available by request, and it was almost too hot for him, which is saying something. Overall, a good experience. I wouldn't seek them out as a dinner destination, but if we were going to a movie, they'd be fine. One thing that I really liked was the size of the booths: you could fit four people a side if they were friendly. I like large booths.

If you don't know, 3 Margs is a chain mexican resturant - so like most chains, you can expect a quality of food that never "fails", but at the same time, rarely says "oh my god this is the bex 'x' I've ever head". Prices - i think the prices at 3 Marg are 2 or 3 bucks too high, per plate, if you compare similar combo plates, or smothered burritos. However, their lunch specials are really reasonable, and if you are looking for a Friday lunch with co-workers this would be a great choice. Food - As I said, the food overall is "fine mexican", with a few delicious surprises. I love their Pollo a la crema. It's one of the best I've had around. the taste of avacado really comes through. It's rich, and indulgent. Try it at lunch, when it's in the 8-9 buck range. Mexican is mexican - so two things I always try before writing a review is the salsa and the green chili. Both here were average. Salsa was fresh tasting, and not too hot, with lots of chunks of tomato, but one dimensional - you won't remember it after 10 seconds. Green chili was quite bland (not in heat, but in flavor overall). Tasted like something you might get in a quality bottle at a store, but again, not something you'll remember. overall, it is on the good side of average, and if you go for lunch with a group, you come away happy enough.

The locatoin is nice but the food is not so nice. I have been here several times as I think it will get better but the mexican food holds to the theory that if you drown stuff in cheese and sauce then all is well. Let me tell you good mexican food doesnt need loads of cheese and sauce to make your relleno, taco and enchilada all look the same. One positive note is their salsa and service which is consistenly tasty otherwise meh... cheers Steve

Great tasting food, quick and friendly service. The 3 Margaritas at the Orchard is our go to place to get a delicious dinner in a timely manner. I especially love carne asada.

My Dad loves 3 Margaritas but the rest of us find it kind of so-so. We went last night for my Dad's b-day and it must have been a pretty off night. Out of 4 entrees, three appeared to be the wrong thing! My husband ordered some kind of chipotle enchilada and could taste nothing he could identify as "chipotle". My dad ordered the large cheese & onion enchilada and they brought him 2 small enchiladas (?)-whatever, he said it was fine but not many onions. My mom ordered Idaho nachos without onions which was supposed to be potato skins instead of chips and all the stuff on top; typical nachos with chips showed up covered in onions. My entree was the one item that was correct. To be fair-we did not object or bring these things to the attention of the waiter. We just ate what we were brought. We don't like to make trouble or run the risk of a cook spitting in our food. The waiter was nice but slow in taking our order and bringing the check. The taste of everything was fine but nothing to write home about. There are plenty of Mexican places sering the same stuff...One the positive, this is one of the nicer looking 3 Margaritas-well decorated and roomy.

It's 3 margs, consistent Mexican, quality service, middle of the road price. Can't complain.

  • Colie J.

At $6.95 for lunch I really can't complain. Again, not the best Mexican but for these lunch prices I was satisfied with my meal. I had a cheese enchilada and beef taco. I wasn't fond of the refried beans, but eating them with the chips made it good. My waiter was excellent. Repeatedly checked to see if I needed anything and when i noted the white cheese he went and asked the cook what kind of cheese it was (I had to make sure it wasn't queso fresca). Overall, A-OK Mexican and I would return to try something else.

The margaritas are good and strong. And once you're nice and buzzed, the food is almost palatable.

NEW: After I posted my initial review below the owner contacted me and I tried it again, not contacting the owner as I did not want any special treatment or to give it a fair shot and see if it was a fluke....we got a woman server and she was awesome and the food, much better, obviously the owner cares and takes this very seriously...I am happy to recommend this place now! OLD: Food and service have gone downhill since they opened disappointed used to be a great place to eat. You have to beg for a drink and if you have a party less than 8 good luck getting service. Rush you in and rush you out

Time for an update and it isn't pretty. The last 2 times I have gone to this location, I have been frustrated and disappointed. I'm not coming back to see if it was an anomole. They do not manage their waiting list well at all and there is no management presence during their busy times to make sure the floor is getting handled. After waiting too long (why? because I love their food), I have experienced poor & slow service. The food was good, the service was terrible, unprofessional and unacceptable. The 120th & Colorado blvd (slightly west on 120th) is fantastic. Their customer service is welcoming, organized and they recognize repeat customers. I'm going back there from now on.

We used to go to the location on 120th Ave and Main St. Sadly, that location has really gone downhill. The food isn't nearly as flavorful and fresh as the Orchard location. I love getting cheese or chicken enchiladas and a shredded beef taco. The chicken on the 120th location is flavorless. Literally just boiled and shredded chicken. This location has very good chicken. The shredded beef is also pretty good. (Get your taco on the side, or it will be soggy before it even gets to your table.) The rice is my favorite as far as Mexican restaurants go. Especially when it comes out a little crispy. I don't like beans, but I don't mind these ones. (They're pretty smooth, it's the texture of whole beans that I don't like.) The chips and salsa are also very good. The salsa is just hot enough without burning your mouth off. Most of the waiters don't write down your order, which makes me nervous, but they always get my order right! Even getting the taco on the side. I'm impressed. I don't recommend getting an alcoholic drink here. They're pretty proud of them but I was less than impressed with previous margaritas and a pina colada. Their blender doesn't blend very well.

Typical Cantina designed for us Gringo's. Menu is overly complex, everything comes with refried beans and that nasty yellow rice. Their default taco tortilla is the hard crunchy kind so you better ask for soft shell if you want em ( If they have them?). OMG the plate was hot enough to to cause 3rd Deg burns! The place had great service and is clean and bright. I would go back if happened to be at this mall again and was hungry.

Excellent Mexican food. Authentic taste, great prices, great service. The staff at this location are very nice and friendly. The lunch menu is really nice, as you can get a huge meal for about $8. The salsa and green chili are both amazing.

Mmmmm I love this place. I try to stick with the carne asada plate with fresh corn tortillas. The margs are awesome!!

If I was going to break this up into mini catagories it would be: Service : 4 Stars Food : 2 Stars (4+2)/2 = 3 Stars The good : The service I have had here has almost always been very friendly and fast. The salsa is good and plentiful. The location is very convenient, and the parking is pretty simple too. The bad : The food and menu are at best boring and unmemorable. While it generally comes out fast, it seems a bit at the cost of quality. I will probably go back here again for cocktails, or for food when I am at orchard and other things are slammed, but it won't be my choice or the first choice.

It's alright. But I've yet to find great Mexican food in Colorado. The drinks are weak, the fresh vegetables are wilted from being under a heat lamp. The portions are small and the plates are huge.

  • Tami G.

Came here with some friends during an impromptu weekend trip to Colorado. I was super excited because they raved about this place. I am all about chips and salsa. Womp. Womp. I was sadly disappointed. The salsa tasted like ketchup with some spices. The service was sub par (it was mid day on a week day & we still had to wait to get service). Even the food was eh. Normally I am not one to complain, and I feel bad. But the experience wasn't what I was expecting or use to. Maybe it was an off day.

I have been to several 3 Margaritas and this is probably the best experience. Service was very nice and attentive although the hostess was a bit cold and uninterested. Food is average Mexican fare which hits the spot if you have a craving and don't want to be disappointed. Cleanliness is average and there is ample seating for a mall located restaurant. Other reviewers who said salsa was paste/ ketchup and bland are off their rockers. Salsa here has a nice bite and is definitely fresh. Good variety in the menu.

I know there are a lot of people that don't care for the food, that it is not true Mexican food. But I don't care!! I love their food, it is always yummy. I love their mushroom salsa, so much so that I learned how to make it at home. The service is always really friendly and quick. They have a good happy hour, buy one get one. Also on Thursdays they have a balloon man, he is great. He makes the most amazing things out of balloons. He has made my girls a solar system, butterflies, octopuses. He is free and just works off tips! Overall it is a great place to grab a bite in the Orchard.

We come here every time I'm in Colorado. I like the enchiladas and 2 for one patron margaritas Wednesday's. The salsa are good and garlicky. Ask for the mushroom salsa too. Delight your chips with variety. The beef fajitas are well seasoned so try them too. Service is friendly but a tad on the slow side. The piped in music makes up for the slowness. Makes you want to dance while you wait. Come try and tell me what you think.

3 Margaritas - our home away from home. Except apparently we strayed a bit too far this time. The ones in Firestone, Longmont and even Broomfield are consistent, and consistently perfect. The original margarita is a religious experience. Tonight we ate at the Westminster location after seeing a movie, and (forgive me) the closest I'm getting to being on my knees is puking after drinking their version of the original. Watered down and bitter. Just gross. We actually left undrunk (undrank? A crime however you say it) margs behind when we left. Oh, I was disappointed in my meal too - ensalada tapatia. My go-to dinner was a don't-go at this place. Even the chips and salsa sucked. Never again. We will drive home and hit our real home away from home instead of this pale comparison. Hit the Rock Bottom across the street if you want to eat at the Orchards.

Really happy with this Mexican restaurant! My coworker and I had a coupon for a lunch deal, buy one($7) get one half off. What!?! We couldn't pass it up. After we had already ordered we noticed the coupon said only valid Monday- Friday.. And of coarse it was Saturday by our surprise the manager still allowed us to use them. Awesome customer service. I had never had the lunch special before but they have a pretty good selection and they are actual meals. So for around $7 you get a main dish with rice and beans. The food was really good and the service was quick. Will definitely be back for lunch!

I've never left a restaurant scratching my head until today! Slow service, took our server 5 minutes to greet us as he walked by us 4 times. He only had 2 other tables which were 2 tops & counting us he had total headcount of 6 people. He spent most of the time at hostess stand talking to hostess. He was not alone because most of the staff just stood at the front of restaurant. Funny thing is the staff knew we hadn't been greeted & still just stood there doing nothing because it wasn't in there station. Secondly, do not put pictures of your food on menu if it is not going to some what resemble what is being served. Ordered tortilla soup & picture shows this rich hearty tomato based soup & what shows up. Basically chicken stock, water, cubed avocado, diced tomatoes, shredded white chicken, & cilantro. I should have called police because we just got robbed. Poor service + Lazy staff + misrepresented overpriced food = Not good business!

0 stars..the worst food imaginable. Ordered the queso and it tasted like watered down spray cheese. It came out Luke warm and separated into 2 different colors. Took one bite asked for the check and will never return again. Don't eat here unless you want to be sick.

So.. I am giving this location at Orchard mall four stars. Other locations are not as good, but this one is very clean and the food is great! It's so bright and cheery inside you automatically feel cozy and comfortable. Their chips and salsa are ok... But their margaritas are yummy ! We chose their Original Margarita that they bring in a shaker so you can refill your glass. This made me very happy. They offer a lunch menu so we decided to pick something from there. I chose the Fajita Chicken Salad and boy am I glad I did. It was truly like I had Fajita chicken with onions and bell peppers on top of lettuce. They add 2 big scoops of homemade guacamole on the side that tasted amazing. I look forward to returning very soon. This location has changed my mind about 3 Margaritas.

Love this location at The Orchard Center. Dinner and then shopping! Came here with my fiance on a Saturday. He called and made a reservation so we got right in. Good idea to make a reservation on Friday or Saturday due to what always seems to be a line of people waiting to be seated. Rocky is the best server in this restaurant. We always ask to sit in his area. Best customer service!! We both ordered the fajitas and they were incredible. Margiritas are wonderful as well. We don't order the house margirita we prefer to order the Don Julio Margs. Had a great meal with impeccable service from Rocky and the entire staff. We will be back again and again. Much better than the other Mexican restaurant near by....

Checked this place where it for the first time this weekend. Food was great, better than other 3 Margaritas locations I've been to. The tables weren't crammed together, and the service was very good. This would normally be enough for me to give a 5-star review, but I used the women's restroom was in terrible disrepair. Stall door wouldn't lock, the toilet seat was so loose I almost fell on the floor, and one sink was unusable because the faucet was literally falling out of the sink (see picture). This is not a very old location, so I expected the restrooms to be as nice as the rest of the restaurant.

I grew up on 3 Margaritas, and they used to be a 5 star restaurant (food and price wise) but they have really taken a dive. Food is 3 star, price is 2 star(to get an extra side of sour cream its $2.25!!). They now skimp on the smothered green chile burritos and the flavor is not what it used to be. I would come back if I had to but there are better places out there.

Always great food and service. Always a great place to eat on lunch break. They have the best Chile cheese fries I've ever had.

Got a chance to check out this 3 Margaritas location a couple of evenings ago. As a new resident to Colorado, a few locals mentioned there are better Mexican restaurants in the area, but for the place having multiple locations, it was pretty solid. No problems with service or wait time. The chips and salsa were pretty mainstream, and the pitcher of original margaritas packed a pretty strong punch. I went with the chicken asado burrito, and it was great. I found the entire menu to be pretty unique, as it was huge, with lots of pictures - it looked like the variety was really good here. Definitely recommend.

The service is always bad, but at least the food is terrible. Every 3 Margaritas I have been to has been terrible. From the horrible service to the slop they call food. And what's with that cheese? Don't bother, taco bell is much better and far less expensive.

The burritos are good, hearty and have a good taste. The menu is extensive, you have a lot of choices . The hostess and wait staff are all very nice and attentive. I would stay clear of the sopapillas. They are tiny and doused in honey that has already been put on them . They are soggy and just not very good. Otherwise it's pretty good

Just bad Mexican food. Salsa tastes like Tamato paste along with the rest of the food. Wait staff and manager are pleasant and responsive. Wish the food lived up to the staff.

1 star more than a frozen mexican dinner. Perhaps being a Texan with Salsa in my veins affects my perception of Mexican food, but after several times eating at 3 Margaritas, none of their food has any pizazz. Nothing but boring run of the mill refried beans and Mexican rice. The salsa has no heat and presentation of the entrees is below par. I can't tell you where in Colorado to find good Mexican, but I will keep searching.

    (2)
  • Alan A.

Great Mexican food. I always go for lunch because you get very full at half the price of dinner (about $8.00 a plate). The deep fried ice cream is good if you have room after your meal.

This is the location at the Orchard near 144th and I-25. It hasn't been there long, but it has a good location and it offers the same reliable experience you can have at any of the other 3 Margaritas locations. And in this case, that's a good thing! I've had dinner there on a few Saturday nights before movies, and I'm always there with a large group of people. The most people we had was 35, and the restaurant handled it with ease. They took a reservation and gave us all separate checks. The service was fast and accurate, an impressive feat with big groups. Their food isn't particularly authentic, but it's still really good. The carne asada is probably my favorite, with a few friend jalepenos on the side. I also love their monster-sized salads. They're very fresh and light even though they are really huge. Everyone who works here seems happy, and that's a good sign. The prices are good, and people usually enjoy their meals. We'll keep coming back, for sure.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
