Everyone in our party of 5 loved their meal. We sat at a hibachi table and got the usual hibachi presentation with knife throwing, egg tossing, and onion fire volcanos. It was very fun to do as a group. Make sure to get the fried rice instead of steamed, those of us who didn't were jealous. You could get sushi and other things as appetizers but with your hibachi meal you get soup, salad, shrimp, vegis, rice, and your meat so that was plenty. The restaurant is a little bit confusing to get to so make sure you know where you're going.

"Plain and simple..poor, rude service and over priced measly rolls not to mention they added %18 gratuity to the take out orders."

Great sushi at a typical Vail price (feed 4 adults is $200+) decent ambience didn't do the hibachi but it looked pretty s. Don't be in a hurry on a weekend, service takes a while, but it's worth it.

What a nice treat! After traveling for days and going from hotel to hotel, it was a happy surprise to learn that there was a new sushi restaurant right next door to the Cascade Hotel where we were staying. A refreshing change from burger joints and overpriced hotel dining that have been my only options for the past week. First of all, hamachi collar on the menu is fun to see. I didn't have it, though, I just enjoyed that it was there. There was also a "From the Land" portion of the menu with lamb chops and short ribs, as well as many vegetarian options, including a whole array of veggie sushi (even nigiri). Secondly, great sushi. Amazing salmon sashimi... soft but not buttery and rich flavorful meat. Cuts of fish were fairly generous, ponzu was made in-house and just right, plus the ginger is very distinct, also made in-house and with a light sweetness to it. The tai was a little dried out, but everything else was stellar. Mike at the bar was a very congenial fellow, comfortably talking to patrons about the different things on the menu and the back bar, seeking to educate as well as provide good service. An appropriate lychee martini graced the cocktail list. Last, but not least, happy hour! They have a 4-6pm happy hour as well as a late-night 10pm-1:30am happy hour, both sushi and drinks. It's very well laid-out, with some of the sushi almost 30% less than on the regular menu. I'd come back again without hesitation. Small, family-owned, well thought-out. It's only 3 weeks old and they're still adjusting, but it was tasty and decently priced, with a friendly and comfortable atmosphere.

Food was pretty good. Service was fast - staff friendly. Sushi was small and just ok, thought it should be better. Red snapper was excellent

The meal was not bad at all, but the service was ssssslllllloooooowwwwwwww. Goodness, I mean 30+ minutes between rolls? I enjoyed my rolls and tempura, and my friend who is quite picky about her sushi gave her stamp of approval on the sashimi. Being located on the grounds of our resort, it was very convenient. Lastly, I never thought I would crave tap water, but that mountain water is so damn good, it was a pleasure drinking it. And I drank a lot considering how slow these people were.

Service was poor as we had to request everything from table settings, chop sticks, to soy sauce. After arriving the disclosed their $20 split plate charge, mandatory hibachi/tepan order policy when sitting at a tepan table, and separate menus with different pricing depending where you choose to sit. We were disappointed that we wasted a meal in vail while on vacation when there are so many wonderful choices. We spent $130 for two adults and two kids and weren't even able to sit at a tepan table.

Awesome sushi and even more awesome service! We sat at the sushi bar last night (Sunday) and could not have been treated better. The sushi chef created a couple of extra dishes in addition to what we ordered for us to try (on the house!). He was so friendly and really made the night great. The hostess was so friendly too!

We had several different rolls, all of them were fantastic. We sat at the sushi bar and watched them being made, and were impressed. Food was prices right. The service was slow, but it was packed, and we were there during the go-pro mountain games, so it wouldn't keep me from going back.

My family and I sat outside on the deck which is very nice in summer weather. The waitress we had was actually funny but was not attentive to the table. The menu has many options from sushi to teriyaki chicken. When we got the food, it came in waves. Two meals came out, then another two, then the last two. We had dirty dishes on our table because we had edamame earlier, and we had to ask her to take the dishes off and asked her to bring chopsticks and to bring other item we shouldn't have had to ask her. Then the bill had an 18% gratuity charge no matter what! Which is there probably so that the waiters get paid! Also it has outrageous prices! An average of $17 for a meal that is very basic! The rice was obviously cooked beforehand and just reheated. Then we asked for it to be sent back and when it came back it was still cold. The chicken lo mein was very cheap quality! The chicken was almost mushy. Not very good! I would advise going to a different restaurant in the Village. There are so many better ones and they will be worth your money and time! Sushi Oka more like Sushi Uck-a!

Food was fine: we had sushi and bunch of different dinner options. Miso soup was delicious as well as "magical" roll. They didn't have some options on the menu, and some desserts even our waiter didn't recommend to order. And then they have included 18% gratuity in the check automatically, even though we were just party of three. I would probably leave them even 20%, but I hate when they do it without even bothering to ask you. So overall three stars.

Food is good and the service is fantastic! These folks are so attentive and are all about having fun which is PERFECT when you're o vacation! They'll make you smile and feel special as hell. Definitely recommend for a good time. As any hibachi spot it will have some kitch but their appreciation for their client is evident during every table visit when they ask if things are good and if they can do anything to better your experience. Just do it and tip them well please. :)

Yum! Great food, good drinks and good environment. Sushi selections were good and fresh. The chef was friendly, artistic and generous- complimentary sashimi and sake-bomb! Hibachi tables, and patios seating.

Hands down the best sushi I have had. The spicy tuna was perfect and basically melted in my mouth! The chef was fun and engaging, great conversations. 25% discount during the offseason, and the chef also hooked us up with some of the house made saki. We had a great time eating there. The waitress was quick to seat us, once we decided our food came out quickly. We had a spicy tuna, vail roll, the may flower roll, and the salmon lover roll. Everything was delicious! We will definitely go here again!

The best surprise in the village. Amazing food and service. The staff is very helpful end enjoyable we will be coming back time and time again. You are really missing out if you don't come here on your Vist to the vail village. The chefs are amazing Don't Miss Out!!!!!!!!

It was pretty good sushi/nigiri, and the rather high prices were made more manageable by steep off-season discounts. My problem with it was that the roll menu was too heavy on fried stuff and not particularly varied. I also wasn't very impressed by the mochi ice-cream for dessert. On the up side, the fried stuff in the rolls was delicious, and the service was great. The octopus nigiri was delicious.

Awesome hibachi joint! The food was really delicious, including both the hibachi and sushi :) Our hibachi chef was super funny and entertaining. I got the scallop hibachi dinner and ordered a few rolls of sushi. Only thing is that this place is quite pricey so be ready to pay a lot for dinner, but you definitely get a whooollleee buncha food. I was super duper full after the whole meal. Definitely a great place to go to for a family dinner or even a date!

We have been to many hibachi places and we wanted to take our friend to one for his first time. We were seated promptly though we had new reservation. We were a bit rushed to put in an order for drinks but no big deal. Everything seemed quite good at first. Our chef however, was not entertaining at all, given that we had a more than active and engaging crowd for him. He performed maybe two tricks all night while the neighboring table sat through an all night show! Then, things got much worse when half of people's orders, sides, and entrees were mixed up or simply forgotten during the cooking process. The waiter never made it over to our table again after taking drinks and orders, and table staff responded to any request with "did you ask your waiter this yet?" - which of course we couldn't have if he hasn't come by all meal. Lastly, after everyone was done eating, we waited at least 15min for any waiter to come nearby for us to just ask for a check....which included 18% gratuity already just for our party of 3 people! I was very upset with the service, enough so that I want to share this experience. The food tasted good, but nothing special for vail. I will not return to this restaurant, nor do I recommend it to anyone.

I usually think hibachi can be a rip off, but the portions were acceptable, I needed a to go box. Our server was pleasant and our chef was pretty funny. He surprised us with a free long range shot of sake. Still pretty pricey, but we all left fairly full. I would have liked to have had a cup of miso included in the meal.

Après ski sushi stop. It was early and the place was empty. We sat at the sushi bar and were entertained by (1) one of the sushi chefs changing his clothes - getting ready for the evening and (2) the other sushi chef applying new tape to a piece of paper used to cover the hole over the sushi counter where there should be a vent screen. Both were very unappetizing. We had the spicy tuna roll which was bland and two other selections. Um I was not very hungry after the pre-meal show. Won't be back.

For what it is, this place is pretty pricey...but so is just about everything in Vail. The avocado tuna tower is just okay, there was too much sesame sauce and the tuna chunks were cut too large. However, the soup dumplings were sooo good! I forget what they were called on the menu but it was one of the appetizers. Definitely worth ordering! I like the pad thai and the thai basil chicken. I didn't do hibachi.

Did an early dinner at the Hibachi grill and had a great time. Hibachi chef was entertaining and the food came out great. If you're looking for Hibachi in Vail this is a great place right on the mountain!

LOOOVED the Fuji Roll, but I also ordered the Salmon Lover Roll and the salmon was just too fishy...maybe not super fresh? Not sure, but the food was definitely okay, perhaps too much salmon for me. Maybe I am not a "salmon lover" after all lol

Formerly in Cascade Village, Sushi Oka is now more conveniently located in Vail Village on Meadow Drive. I had high hopes for this Japanese/Chinese/sushi/hibachi restaurant. Ordered one of the sushi platters ($40) that came with a nice assortment of sashimi, nigiri and hand rolls. It's Vail, not Japan, so I got over the sushi not being "as good" as what I've grown up on. I was totally disappointed in the weak wasabi and the lack of "spicey" in the supposed spicey rolls. We also ordered the seafood and vegetable tempura platter ($22) which was completely disappointing, primarily because it was cold and had probably been sitting in the kitchen for quite awhile before it was delivered to our table. The staff is super-friendly, but it doesn't make up for how s-l-o-w the service is. At our table of seven, very few of us actually ate at the same time, not because the timing of food preparation was off, but because the one server for the entire restaurant (including the patio) couldn't attend to us (five tables) all in a timely manner. Maybe the hibachi is the way to go so your food is served hot. Honestly, I'll probably never find out since I don't have plans to give them another go.

Our new favorite affordable sushi place in Vail - it currently features 40% off the entire bill for off-season. The sushi rolls are uniformly bright and fresh - markedly better than the other affordable local favorite, Nozawa. Our favorite specialty rolls are the Wiki Waki (with raw scallops!) and the Fire Starter (name?), garnished with fresh jalapeno slices. The sweet and succulent lobster roll with mango sauce is also a must-try. We tend to sit at the bar and have never been disappointed with the customer service or the food. Love the ambiance and staff.

Had a great time with a party of seven! We all got a buch of different stuff. You can order from the sushi menu, sit at the bar or go "Benihana" style and sit around the cook top, which is what we did.

Took my kids thinking we were getting 40% off as noted by our hotel and verified when we called for reservations. Was really disappointed that they wouldn't honor the 40% off when we got there, saying it was over the day before. The service was HORRIBLE! Took 10 minutes to get water. Then our dinners were served one at a time. We all ate at different times. Ordered dumplings (which is an appetizer) that came last after a half an hour! Will NOT go here again.

On our last day in Colorado, decided to get some sushi. Make sure that before you go, look in the local vail newspaper/magazine (these are free in many of the local businesses). We found a 50% off coupon for sushi rolls and menu items. You will need this as regular price for the rolls went as high as $22 per roll (Dragon Roll). We had the following rolls: Dragon Roll, Rainbow Roll, California Roll, Flower Roll, Softshell Crab Roll and one other that I can't remember what the name of it was. They did a really nice job of presentation. The Dragon Roll was decorated to look like a dragon with eyes and carrot horns. My teenage daughter loved it. The taste however was so so. Typically the skin on the eel would be crispy but this one was rubbery and under cooked. The best roll in my mind was the Rainbow Roll. Each slice had a small amount of tobiko (fish eggs) on it. Didn't order anything from the menu other than miso soup which was run of the mill.

First off, I'm a sushi snob. It's one of my favorite things so I'm picky. I've had some o the best sushi in the world and some of the worst. Sushi Oka wasn't bad, but didn't amaze me either. Just like everything in Vail, it was overpriced for what you get. For the appetizer, we started with duck breast braised in red wine. It was pretty good, but was more Chinese in flavor than Japanese, which is to be expected since the owners are Chinese. The spicy tuna roll was okay. It tasted good, but had a day old fish taste. The chirashi bowl was alright. Usually I expect more fish for $18. One thing that bugged me was these little carrots they put in as filler, so that they can skimp on the fish. It threw off the flavor. I had to sift through an remove them. Would I eat here again? If in Vail, maybe, if I got a craving for sushi. If this place was at home, which has some awesome sushi joints, then never. But everything is relative in Vail.

One of the worst examples of customer service I have ever seen in my life. We went in with a group of 7 and sat down for hibachi. 4 of us ordered $120 worth of hibachi, and the rest of the group ordered $100 worth of sushi, with a couple beers and a $40 bottle of saki. After taking our order, bringing our drinks, and letting us wait for about 10 minutes, our waitress came back only to say that those in the group that did not order hibachi would have to sit at a separate table and that those of us ordering hibachi would have to wait for the group of 5 that was supposed to be arriving 10 minutes later, meaning after already ordering our food and waiting 10 minutes, we would have to wait another 10 minutes for this group to come, and even longer for them to decide on their orders. After realizing how long this was going to take, we furiously left the restaurant, and went across the way to Campo De Fiori for AMAZING italian. While we were in Campo De Fiori, we also saw the group of 5 that was coming to the hibachi table as we had left. They had also left after the owners said they did not have enough people to order hibachi. Moral of the story: Worst restaurant service ever. Do not eat here unless you are trying to overpay for the worst service you have ever had.
