Really nice place. I had stopped in Campo for a coctail on my last visit, and had decided to try it for dinner on this trip. I wasn't disappointed. Had the Fresh Fish, which was very good, but what was great was the Leek puree and mixed vegtables which was served with the fish. They also included roasted red potatos on the plate, which were fine, but nothing special and pretty much unnecessary. The Ceasar salad was unremarkable, and I did find it a bit odd that they did not offer fresh cracked pepper on the salad. I thought the wine list was very complete. It had wines for every price range, and was not marked up to an ungodly amount like many Vail restaurants. In fact, the entire meal was reasonably priced, (but not inexpensive) which is pretty unusual for resort communities. Kenny, the waiter, was perfect. Timely, knowledgable and friendly.

The food was so amazing and the service was even better. My wife and I went with the half portions on pastas and that allowed us to try more of them and it was fabulous. Our server brought them out in order of how she would eat them and it was great! Would definitely recommend it to anyone.

A bit disappointing for an anniversary dinner. I'm puzzled by all the positive reviews, as I thought it was mediocre food with sky-high Vail prices. One step up from Olive Garden. Service was good.

Food was excellent. One of the best italian places we've ever gone. It was crowded and had to wait, but it is a consequence of being one of the best restaurants in town.

I visited Vail 2 years ago for a day and ate here for dinner and loved it. So when my family came back for an extended vacation we had to find it again and we were not disappointed. The pastas are homemade and simply outstanding particularly for a ski town.

Romantic dining experience in Vail, CO. Upstairs is absolutely charming, warm and inviting. Wonderful service, very attentive, helpful with menu selections. Good food, good wine, who could ask for more? Of course, we finished the dinner off with the homemade limoncello.

Campo is an absolutely axing restaurant with amazing staff and the food was very fun and complex. the wine tasted great I would recommend the Malbec. For dessert, try the chocolate mousse.

Campo de Fiori is a great Italian choice for Vail. This place is intimate enough to have a very special date, but there's something about the ambiance that also feels like your right at home. I was there with a big family, including children, and it was cramped--The restaurant itself is very small, and I felt like the waiters were tripping over me at times. But, this did not seem to deter too much from my overall experience. The noise level was somewhat high but not so loud that you couldn't have normal convorsation. Actually, it was the perfect noise level for bringing your family and not being worried about whether your kids are talking to loud. The decor is definitely traditional; it feels like you stepped into Italy when you walk inside.

Vail and perfect Italian food. Who could ask for more. For starters the ambiance here is one of a kind. Quite and the service is unparalleled to anywhere else in Vail. The manager, Nina was sent down from the restaurant God's. She knows her wines and what to pair them with. I've eaten all over the world and this restrurant is on my top five. Now let's talk entres. First off our server abbey is a complete joy. Vivacious and full of knowledge. We had a difficult time undestanding the Italian in the menu. Luck enough she was fluent and able to explain everything in immense detail. The busses were friendly and appropriate with their lengo and time at the table. You are missing an experience not found else where if you do not eat at this restaurant.

During Championship Saturday all restaurants were at least an hour wait, and this one had a table available. My initial thought was skeptical, but I got over it pretty quickly. The place is super nice, split level dining room, with decent wine list and deliciously sounding dinner options. Our server was super nice- she made excellent suggestions and we decided to go with special Veal cutlets for SO and I got truffle tortellini and gnocchi (half and half, per waiter suggestion). Gnocchi were so good, I really can't wait to go back there just for that meal. The only issues with the place- tables are so close to each other that we had difficult time getting to our table; because of that I broke the olive oil bottle which just tilted as tried not to sit my rear at the neighbors plate. But it is Vail, everyone is friendly and that served as an excellent ice breaker with a table right next to us. One other thing- it is VERY reasonably priced for Vail location and quality of meal you get. Definitely try it out, you wont regret anything you eat there!

The best Italian in Vail hands down. The antipasti is very very well done, the 18 year prosciutto was some of the most interesting charcuterie id ever had. The burrata was perfect on their bread and the main courses were clearly handmade. The pastas and sauces all tasted as fresh as can be. Also, the restaurants atmosphere is ideal, small and yet not crammed. The bartenders are top notch, no messing around there as you wait for your table.

Visited during a Christmas road trip, so glad we found this spot! Coat check right when you walk in, great service and awesome wine selection. Pricey but worth it, we shared an appetizer and entree with no problem. The carpaccio was outstanding! I've never had the tenderloin so soft and flavorful.

The Mushroom Ravioli was amazing as was the Pappardelle with sausage and mushrooms. The options for kids are limited but overall the food was amazing. The service wasn't all that because it was way busy. This is our second trip to this restaurant and I am looking forward to a third.

Lovely setting. Food was very good. I had the scallopini special which was delicious. My son had the penne with a vodka sauce and prosciutto which was outstanding. My wife's gnocchi was light and flavorful. Wine list is extensive in its Italian selections but pricey.

I will put in a disclaimer before I write this review. We are in Vail and everything is expensive. That being said, $90 for two plates of pasta, the "kids chicken meal", and a couple glasses of wine is excessive...they even gave us 25% off the full price of the meal. As future information for any other parents, the kids chicken meal was a chicken breast cut in half and grilled with no seasoning, steamed spinach, and mashed potatoes. They charged $19 dollars for this, which also seemed very excessive. The wait staff was friendly and food was delivered promptly. Outside of being overpriced, the food did taste good but no better than other more reasonably priced Italian restaurants. Not the most kid friendly restaurant but they do have high chairs.

Been here several times and every time I have a very good experience. Servers here are always great. We are usually a group that drinks a lot and eats a lot and we can be unruly in the most fun of ways. The food is always outstanding. Had one plate that i thought was great and then I tried my girlfriends and hers was really really really good (ravioli funghi is the dish and if you like truffle you will be in heaven). Like so good that I ordered it for dessert. I am not kidding. The prices are fair for high end dining in Vail Village. And to those complaining about it, don't go out to eat in Vail Village. Prices for this kind of meal in any major city would be comparable. I will eat here once a year because the food is good, we load up on carbs before a big day of skiing, and we always leave drunk and happy.

This is one of the best Italian restaurants I have ever been to. all of the appetizers and entrees that we ordered were excellent, I loved the pasta with mozzarella and eggplant. The service was equally as excellent, and I can't wait to go back.

I am so so pleased we went to Campo De Fiori for our last meal out in Vail. What a pleasure! The only reason I cannot give this place 5 stars is because when we called that day for a rez they told us our only option was 9:15pm. So we waited and when we got there, it was practically empty. Not sure why we had to wait? Just for appearance sake? Its a good thing this place was recommended to us by a bunch of locals and I guess it was worth the wait! The mushroom ravioli was divine and the wine (which our waiter was very knowledgable on) was delicious and went perfectly with our meal. I would definitely go back and maybe walk-in without a rez.

Always an incredible meal, we visit every time we are in Vail (1-2x per year). The paparadelle is a must, and the steaks are amazing as well. In the summer they sometimes have fresh porcini mushrooms as well. Mira always welcomes us like we are family and that is how we feel when we eat there.

Food: We started with the muscles which were good, but not memorable. The wine was FANTASTIC ...a petite Syrah. I had the gnocchi bolognaise which melted in my mouth and was the perfect compliment to my husband's dish. He ordered the mushroom ravioli with truffle oil which was excellent, but very rich. The Brussels sprouts were delicious as a side. Then, we ended with the creme brûlée which had a perfectly crispy crust & was topped with berries. Seriously, delicious! Ambiance: it was on the average side. I liked the vines painted on the rustic walls to give it an Italian feel, but it wasn't original. The ceilings are high, which is probably why it gets a little loud, but it didn't interfere with our dining experience.

We have dined at Campo on several occasions and every time the food and atmosphere has been excellent! Starting with the bread basket and the delicious house olive oil, to the wine, to the appetizers and entrées, everything was delicious. If this is your first time, I would definitely recommend the ravioli funghi with white truffle oil and the parpardelle with sausage and porcini mushrooms - to die for!

I loved the gnocci, burrata and crème brulee. This is definitely a great casual Italian spot to stop by while you are in Vail.

My husband and I came in for dinner during our ski trip and I have to say that it definitely competes with some of the best meals we had in Italy. The staff were also very attentive. We started with the carpaccio which was just ok compared to carpaccios we have had in Orange County. Not the best but not the worst. Their focaccia bread is to die for and they gave us a small box full upon request to take home. For our entrees, I had the gnocchi bolognese and my husband had the pappardelle. Both dishes were homemade pastas and absolutely delicious! The gnocchi was so soft it melts in your mouth and the pappardelle is not heavily dressed but very flavorful. For dessert we splurged and had the creme brûlée and mousse coccolata nero (dark chocolate mousse with berries). Some of the best desserts we've ever had!

Visited during a Christmas ski trip 2013. Had the butter nut squash ravioli and it was very good. Sautéed spinach was great and finished it off, with creme brûlée which as homemade and outstanding. It can be loud as they pack in the patrons. Decor is nice. I was also here two years ago on a cousins ski trip and had a similar good experience.

First visit to camp dei fiori. Made a reservation, which may not have been necessary in late July, but we arrived early were pleasantly treated by the hostess and offered our choice of tables on the veranda. The atmosphere is very alpine and the view of the slopes spectacular. I've lived and worked in Italy for years, so my standards are high and expectations low. Our waiter, Kenny, was very freindly and knowledgeable about the wine and menu. We started with our staple appetizer, calamari fritti, which was copious and delicious. Lightly breaded and fried to perfection. The salads were large (you can share) and excellent, especially the spinach with caramelized onions and Gorgonzola. We all had pasta or risotto. The papardelle with mushrooms and sausage was superb. The risotto with shrimp, leeks and scallions was prepared correctly al dente, as were the penne alla caprese. The service was extremely efficient, and the kitchen fast. The wine list is extensive and well balanced. They have the largest selection of grappa I have ever seen in the U.S. The grappa del Barolo was a fitting conclusion to a great meal. We shall return.

I'm in Colorado with my family and we were craving Italian. We went in aware of the high prices, thus expecting a high quality meal. The atmosphere was rather forced, as I was anticipating such an expensive restaurant to at least have a live flower on the table and/or decorations I couldn't find at my local dollar store. The service was mediocre, very talkative waiter, slightly impatient, and didn't bother to refill our water. NOW, most importantly, I disregarded the subpar surrounding ready to eat some yummy pasta! Unfortunately, the food was even more disappointing. The starter bread was slightly stale served with cheap breadsticks in a bag. The Penne Caprese pasta wasn't cooked fully and the marinara sauce was watery. The Gnocchi Bolognaise sauce was a bit too heavy and overpowered by mushrooms. Lastly, the Pazza salad should have been an appetizer rather than a full meal. Also, the portions were rather small for those hefty prices. Ultimately, I was dissatisfied and don't recommend spending a night out here

I've certainly have had better Italian. Honestly the chain Maggianos is 3X better than this place. I'd give it 3 stars if it wasn't $100 for 2 (without any liquor.) Service was good, not great, not bad. I don't think there was one Italian person working at the place. However for the price you should expect better.

Excellent food and service. I loved the mushroom ravioli, and the antipasti appetizer was perfect. I was concerned about the other reviewers' comments about noise, but the restaurant was not noisy to me on the Sunday evening we were there, even with a family with children nearby, and I am very sensitive to noise. Lovely atmosphere as well.

So amazing. Small, and intimate, perfect date spot! Try the Agnolotti di Zucca (butternut squash ravioli), or what my boy had, the Penne alla Vodka! So delicious, and gorgeous. Smack dab in the middle of the Vail Village. The only problem with this place is it is really small! So make reservations to avoid the long wait!

The place is always crowded and always consistent. Nothing really special but you are not going to get a bad meal either. IT is a well run and well managed restaurant. We go at least once every year while on our annual ski trip.

Went to Campo on Saturday night, Feb 22, 2014 had a 7:30 reservation, but actually got there early, about 7:10, Mira, greeted me at the hostess stand across from the bar, said no worries, she would try to get us in (a party of 4) as soon as she could, we waited about 7-8 minutes and were seated before 7:20, Great!. We had just the best service I have had at any restaurant I have every been to, (in 40 years...), this is the second time we have dined there, both time have been great, exceptional service, from the busboys re-filling our waters, clearing plates, waitress taking care of us, making good wine suggestions etc, to Mira, who is just a cheerful person, owner? I would recommend Campo to anyone who likes authentic Italian food, the food is not overly decorated, sometimes fairly plain, but delicious, cooked the right way, to your taste.

2.75 The ambience is not bad, but it closes down early-- like before 9PM while we were still eating, drinking our bottles of wine, and I had a full glass of Armagnac I had just ordered. They started putting chairs up all around us-- translation: get the f*ck out. really? after the $ we just dropped and the obligatory 15-20% ur gonna get? pricks. food: burrata- the cheese was actually superb, but 3 tiny little strips on big pieces of crostini? don't f*ck with perfection- just gimme the cheese, balsamic--maybe even some tomatoes..... get outta here with that filler bread sh*t penne alla vodka e prosciutto- not bad actually, I agree that it's overpriced, but nonetheless was good polenta- worst I've ever had.... I don't know if I've ever eaten something that was actually flavorless? goo i had a bite of the eggplant pasta which I liked better- the spicy tomato sauce was really good the rigatoni alla montanara looked amazing- if I ever went back I would probably get that... not likely tho the food was ok, pricey.... but the service is what pissed me off-- so much so I walked out with my glass of armagnac in hand cuz i felt so awkward..... u just made more in less than one hour from tip than I do at my job- and I went to college-- so suck it up til 9:15 and wait for us to finish what we just overpaid for... douchers

We had an early dinner reservation and sat at the bar until our table was ready. The bartender was really nice and helpful with suggestions to order. When we were sat our table was crammed between two other tables so I had to turn sideways to sit down. The room was incredibly loud and our server was in the weeds so we did not get a wine order until after our appetizer was finished. The food was wonderful-burrata with grilled endive, mushroom ravioli, and veal chop. Our biggest complaint was the service-obviously not our server's fault but the restaurant's for trying to cram too many people in and not having anyone available to help out.

So in the search for a great Italian place to eat in Vail we stumbled on this small, noisy and quaint place. The place is loud, crowded and a little cramped; but the good MORE than makes up for it. We started with the assorted olives. There were green and black olives and they were warm and delicious. Next came the entrées. Mushroom Ravioli and Gnocchi de Mediteraneo. Best ravioli I've ever had. Hands down. Gnocchi was perfectly cooked and was incredibly seasoned. For dessert we went with dark chocolate mousse and authentic Italian coffee. Do yourself a favor and check it out. Yummy.

Went back and had another great meal and experience. If you like a full bodied red wine try the Belnero, highly recommended! I was craving the mushroom ravioli so I got that again, as good as I remember. We were there with a group of 4 and we finished 100% of everything ordered and we didn't hold back. Everything was perfect including the deserts! Can't wait to go back.

A bit hard to find but worth the search! Great food, the server was ok, the manager was awesome! Very nice wine/champagne list, excellent bread, AMAZING olive oil and the main courses are to die for! Great ambience and great place to dine over all.

Great service, an impressive wine list, and the risotto special made our visit a very pleasant one. I'll definitely be back. A little tired inside, but overall, charming Italian spot in Vail Village.

We absolutely love this place! The food is phenomenal. We came for our anniversary and even noted this in our open table reservation and no one acknowledged it. No big deal. The risotto was the best I've ever had. Then there was our server. I believe his name was Todd and he just came across as very abrasive. We asked for a glass of ice and he hesitated, then rolled his eyes and reluctantly said yes. Needless to say, we tipped him according to his performance so hopefully he got the hint. We will certainly come back for the food and ambiance, but hopefully Todd won't be there anymore.

Best gnocchi I have ever had! I always love going here. The place has such great ambiance, and they had no problems with our group (10 of us), which was relatively last minute. Great wine list, too (which is why the end of the meal is a little hazy - so I am sorry that I cannot give more details on the meal)!

I really wish I could give Campo De Fiori more stars. I do, but the food just wasn't good enough to justify it. :( The customer service was excellent. 5 stars! We got lost thanks to bad directions from our hotel, so I called them and they directed us easily. They have a cute coat check when you walk in and then upstairs, the hostess seated us immediately. Our waitress was nice and took our drink and dinner orders. She returned with our wine and bread. For a nice Italian place I guess I was expecting more. The bread was rather boring. The olive oil was pretty tasty, but the bland bread did little to really showcase the flavor. I ordered the house risotto with shrimp and butternut squash. It was ok. The risotto was the shorter kind and there was not a lot of squash, however, there were 5 or 6 fairly decent sized shrimp, so I appreciate that. The shrimp was crisp and fresh. We decided to share the chocolate ice cream with zabaglione center. It was incredible. I'm so glad I tried it! 5 stars for dessert!!! Overall, I would give the employees 5 stars, the main dishes 3 stars, and the dessert 5 stars. So 4 stars.

Excellent food, great customer service and great atmosphere in the upstairs room. I had the spinach salad with caramelized red onions, & the scallops & risotto. Both dishes were excellent, my risotto was properly al dente & scallops perfectly cooked. My husband had the arugula salad with pecorino cheese & the scallops with linguini. He loved it & was actually full, something that doesn't usually happen. Very accommodating staff. So many choices on the menu we have to come back for more.

Great food, great outdoor patio, and the best Italian food we've had in the mountains! Waiter was lightning fast (some may consider too fast) but it was just right for me. I had the penne w/eggplant, and the red sauce is amazing! We'll be back for sure!

When we walked in the coat lady at the bottom of the stairs asked us, "do you have reservations?", we said no, and she said, "I am not sure you will get a table then, it is very busy". We went up and checked and got seated right away. It was very busy but they tend to turn tables very quickly. It is VERY LOUD. The kitchen is open style. We sat 2 inches away from the next couple. I would not call this place romantic, but the lighting is very low. Excellent service, we did have to ask for a drink refill once. The second you are done with your plates, they are removed, the bus boys watch you like a hawk. Which is good since our table was very small. We had the Calamari, it was just ok. A little rubbery. We had side salads next, they were huge and very good- very fresh! We were full after that. My husband is very finicky and eats like a 7 year old, he had them make his own meal with Penna pasta and Italian sausage with marinara- he said his meal was good, but not $34 good. I had the mushroom ravioli, it was superb, I could not eat all of it and it only came with about 12 pieces. The sauce was nice and thick and full of flavor. We opted out of dessert, we each had 3 drinks. Our bill came to $140 plus tip. So, for a pasta meal, I am not sure I would go back, I could have a nice filet steak somewhere for that price, and the atmosphere is just ok. Overall, good food and good service, just pricey for what you get. I would recommend this to a friend if within walking distance from their hotel, otherwise I think I would opt for something more modern but that is my taste.

Raviolis and scallopini tasted like microwaveable dinners. The veal scallopini was tough, chewy and lukewarm served with overlooked spinach and mashed potatoes that were no good. Bread tasted a day old. Dissapointed

I have never been to Italy, so I can't claim to know what an authentic Italian restaurant is like -- but dinner at Campi De Fiori gave me a good guess. We enjoyed delicious salads, pasta and seafood in a warm and charming setting. Absolutely everything we ordered was divine. My first clue that this was the real deal, aside from the beautiful, Tuscany-like interior, was the exceptional quality of the olive oil and balsamic vinegar that came with our wonderful bread basket. We had the cantaloupe with prosciutto as an appetizer - it was perfection. A couple of us had the Pazza salad, and I absolutely loved the red onions, pine nuts, raisin and balsamic vinaigrette combination on top of the baby spinach. While I enjoy pasta, and knew it would be delicious here, I didn't want to go overboard on carbs, so I went with the Caciucco - a fish stew with mussels, shrimp, scallops, crab claw and fish. It was fresh and delicious. Everyone else at my table had pasta -- and was kind enough to give me plenty of chances to taste. Both the gnocchi with bolognese and ravioli with mushroom cream sauce were incredible, some of the best pasta I've tasted. Portions were very generous. Granted, we were there relatively early on a Tuesday evening in summer, but it was still a mystery to me why this gem of a place was near empty. If (when, rather) I return to Vail, I will definitely be back!

High ceilings.. horrible acoustics.. like: high school cafeteria horrible. Why a lovely Italian restaurant would be set up this way, I have no idea. Great location.. tasty food.. good service. However.. I kept thinking during my entire dining experience how much lovelier the setting and overall ambience would be if they would nail carpet or foam to the ceilings, or somehow figure out a way to mute the noise a bit. Luckily, during the summer months, the windows and balcony are opened, releasing some of the auditory chaos. Be warned if setting up a reservation during the closed-in ski season.. holy headache!

My husband and I came here once many years ago and were not impressed. For some reason, we never wanted to give it a second try until recently. Trying to figure out a restaurant to eat in Vail Village, I turned to Yelp and read some great reviews. First of all, I'm so discouraged with Vail restaurants. Having a second home up here, we've tried almost all of them but the food is always below average, overpriced and service is terrible. So glad we gave Campo a second try! Hands down one of the best meals we've had in Vail. We started out with their gazpacho of the day - a strawberry/mint gazpacho that was the best I've ever had. We also had the Romano salad and we had no complaints there. Hubby had the mussels for the main course and I had the penne with prosciutto and both were excellent. The best part of the meal was the service. So refreshing to be served a meal with a smile in Vail, not begrudgingly, like the server has somewhere better to be. Imagine that! Can't wait to come back to Campo and I won't hesitate to refer it to friends, something I always hesitate doing with other restaurants in Vail.

Had the first dinner service, at the 5:30 opening. Four families with a total of 18 people (kids are teens). Service was abrupt, inconsistent and plain unfriendly. Adults got their dinners at various times (those that ordered fish, were served after the pasta orders were done!) Kids got their dinners when adults were ordering dessert. Very small pasta portions. Kids were asked by hostess to leave the dining area because they were " blocking the way." Restaurant was not busy. And, to top it off, at $200/family with very few drinks, it was extremely expensive. La Bottega a MUCH better choice. And, they are family friendly.

My husband and I attended this restaurant for our wedding anniversary since we were in Vail and after research for a good Italian restaurant, and was super disappointed. We started off sitting at the table with a bottle of olive oil, but no parmesan cheese which you would normally sprinkle over the olive oil to dip your bread in but there was none to be found. We wanted to celebrate with a half bottle of wine, and upon asking our waiter if he had any suggestions, and that we were interested in a dry white wine, he just suggested that there were three Chardonnay's on the list and that was that. Aren't Italians knowledgeable of their wine selections with their meals? He of course had NO knowledge whatsoever but that was o.k. We started off with the calamari, which was plenty but still wet from the oil they deep fried it in-they could''ve at least padded the extra oil off. I ordered the Linguini dish which the noodles were undercooked and worst of all was drenched in butter and olive oil-which was enough to have the feeling of oil coating your esophagus all the way down-I stopped after 4 bites. I assume it was the pesto sauce or so that was mixed into the dish also, but something was just off about the taste. I tried to eat it, only due to the price of paying 23.00 for it but seriously had to stop for fear of coronary heart disease. My husband, the wild mushroom ravioli, after "awesome" reviews, but the sauce was coagulated on each ravioli. It was also undercooked and had a bad after taste which reminded him of "rotten fungus". Very disappointing after the "rave" reviews of this restaurant. We had reservations at 7:30 and we were outta there by 8:30am. We will not be going back to this restaurant at all!!

Only downside we could find was that the sign isn't very well illuminated. Other than that, the food, wine, atmosphere, and service were all phenomenal. A bit noisy (there was a large group in the lower room), but without them it may have been uncomfortably quiet. Pricey, but there were no feelings that any penny of it was wasted (there was also a 30% discount on all food on this Sunday night in October, which helped). Bread and olive oil to start were excellent, calamari were surprisingly good (especially for a hard-to-reach restaurant in Vail, CO). Followed on with the penna alla vodka and linguine crostacei, both excellent. Surprising amount and diversity of seafood in the crostacei (squid, mussels, shrimp, scallops), and both dishes' portion sizes were large but not absurd. Ended with a cappucino, and could not have been happier.

We really enjoyed our food. My wife got a pasta dish and it was light and delicious. I had the risotto and it was very flavorful. The service was great. The ambience was great, but the seats are sandwiched in the restaurant, so you are right up on another person's table. Additionally, the pasta is a little expensive for what you get.

FANTASTIC FOOD! Very genuine Italian! Beautiful environment. A little noisy, but the food and wine were worth it. Also bought some of the olive oil they served with bread. It was SO tasty. Not cheap but well worth it for a special dinner.

I organized a big group dinner here for my fiance's birthday. The staff was bend-over-backwards helpful and attentive, and the owner Giuseppe was really great to work with. Everyone had tasty pastas (priced ~$20) and wine (a handful of bottles are around $35-40 and there are plenty of super tuscans in the 3-digit range too!). The focaccia to start and creme brulee to end were highlights of the dinner. Great ambiance. Highly recommend for a dinner while in vail. Be forewarned however, it is impossible to find!! The sign is small and set a bit off the street, and the actual restaurant is set in from the street a bit. If you happen to be lost in the middle of a snowstorm, I'd recommend calling them for instructions rather than walking in circles up and down the block as some other people may have done.

After much hype, a bit of a disappointment. If you're looking for a trattoria experience, this is the place. Food is simple and yes, Italian, but for an educated palate, it needs more edge and complexity. Our server was first rate and her wine recommendation superb, after the sticker shock. Boisterous and colorful with an old world glow... but when the food is the priority, there are better choices in Vail.

Our experience here put a nice end to our trip. We ate here on a tuesday and had reservations, you may need them if you like to dine later in the evening. Wait staff were really great and the food was nice. I'm not going to say the food was off the charts, because I paid $30 for a bowl of seafood and saffron broth when my brother got the same seafood in his $18 bowl of pasta. However the experience was really nice and I felt we got the food and service we paid for

I went here after a nice day of skiing at Vail. Since it was a Saturday night, we made reservations, which after arriving, was a good idea. We were seated with 5 min of arriving. There was a decent selection of wine available, and we chose a nice barolo, which was tasty. The Formaggi e Sallumi (cheese and cured meats) plate was a great appetizer to start and had a diverse selection of meats. For my entree, the Orecchiette alla Montanara (Italian sausage cooked in a arrabbiata sauce, finished with Pecorino cheese), was nicely prepared and the arrabbiata sauce was very spicy and matched well with the sausage. The only knocks I had against this place, was that the portions were absolutely huge and almost wasteful, as I could hardly finish half of it and since not too many people have refrigerators to keep leftovers cold. While the service was very attentive, i felt that the service was a little rushed for an Italian restaurant. Overall though, a great place to checkout on your visit to Vail.

Are these reviewer's high? My boyfriend and I went there last night for dinner, on Yelp's recommendation. It was so bleh, I would never recommend it to anyone. We made a reservation, which was unnecessary since it was DEAD. Our waiter, Garth, was a loser. As soon as I told him we weren't ordering a bottle of wine (boyfriend wanted cocktails instead), he was a total dink. We both ordered an appetizer and a pasta dish (in addition to several drinks and bottled water). Honestly, the apps were the highlight of the meal. My minestrone soup was fantastic. My boyfriend got the arugula salad, and it was loaded with artichokes which were very tasty. Both pasta dishes were bleh. I was in the mood for a simple dish, so I got the caPellini crudaiola (extra-virgin olive oil, fresh tomato, arugula, and garlic). The pasta was overcooked, mushy and tasteless. You can get a much better version at any Carrabbas for half the price. My boyfriend got the seasonal gnocchi. He said they were OK but just OK. Perhaps having lived in Boston and Chicago for the last 10 years, I have a high expectation for Italian food. But based on a 5 star Yelp rating, I was expecting so much more. Just a note on the waiter, Garth. If you ever get him, ask to be re-seated. I worked as a waitress and bartender for several years, so I have a high threshold for so-so service when someone is in the weeds. This dude came to our table MAYBE 3 times... but stood behind me and spoke to the couple from Florida for the majority of our meal. I wouldn't have cared if they weren't talking so LOUD we could barely speak. (Like I mentioned, the place was dead!) I will never go here again. It was an awful, awful experience.

We've been here a couple of times to carb-load before skiing. It's situated in a cute tower/castle like structure in the village, and the inside feels rustic and Italian. There are 2 seating areas, but I prefer the upper one. The place isn't fancy or too quiet, so it's a fun place to go with a group. Prices are on the lower end for the village. There are a few breads and flat bread crackers in the bread basket to start. The menu features mostly pastas and has all your standard choices. Calamari is a pretty good sized plate, and it's very crisp. Sides of vegetables are also good to share for the table, as the entrees are mostly starch or protein only. I'm a big fan of risotto, and the menu descriptions were very appealing, but the texture just didn't do it for me. It wasn't undercooked, per se - not crunchy, but it just didn't feel like it was done right. Flavor-wise, it also lacked complexity, and it was pretty disappointing. Desserts are good for sharing. It's a fun, lively, less expensive place to load up on fuel for a long day of skiing.

We had dinner here on a Saturday night (after making reservations, which is advised since it's small). We arrived early and were seated very near to our reserved time. We enjoyed drinks at the bar until our table was ready. Surprised to see that call drinks were only $7 (in Vail!). After being seated, we were well taken care of by our waiter. The food was fabulous, as was the service. I started with a salad (Romana--excellent) and had the Veal con Porcini for dinner. Hands down, the best meal I had all four days in Vail. My companions also enjoyed their pasta dishes, and we all enjoyed a nice, moderately priced Italian Tuscan wine. Overall, it was a really enjoyable meal and I'd recommend this restaurant if you're in the mood for good Italian food.

I am so disappointed in our service at Campo last night. My husband and I take a trip to Vail every year for our anniversary and our service last night was awful!. It was our 5 year wedding anniversary and our server simply did not care! To explain, we ordered the charcuterie plate for an app; when it was delivered he did not explain what anything was which was disappointing considering there were four delicious meats and two cheeses. He was also in-personable and would not look at us when he talked. I don't know if he was just overwhelmed with tables or what but it was crumby! I gave them three stars because the food and hostess were amazing but honestly servers can make or break an evening and your food can only carry you so far. Needless to say after 5 years we will NOT be returning to Campo next year! I hope they realize that even in the off season and with a discount on the bill you should treat your guests as guests and not be a drill sergeant that makes people feel unwelcome and uncomfortable.

I am a fan as the rating states. Enjoyed an Osso Bucco over Polenta that could have been from MaMa Rossi's Kitchen. Pasta and Risotto dishes that my Daughter and Son had were very good, well prepared, wonderful seafood and flavors. Traditional Carpaccio was excellent with a drizzle of black truffle oil. Wine list was extensive and pricey for the most part although I found a Ripassa at 60 that was great value. Place was extremely busy but our reservation was honored within 10 mins. and the service was well paced, attentive, and enjoyable. I enjoy Italian food and Osso Bucco is a fav - I enjoyed laughing with the Family 4 and savoring this simple cuisine with Northern Italian influences at 8,000 feet above sea level. Mange !!!

Good food, good wine list. A solid 4 stars, not going to rave about it being great, but would definitely eat here again if staying in Vail.

Three stars is just about right for this place. Average salad and I had the Linguine with Boar pasta which was good. The service was lackluster and the place was full of noisy foreigners letting their kids run wild.

I really enjoyed this place, we didn't make reservations and ended up at the bar. The calamari was tender but I would have enjoyed an aioli as opposed to the tomatoe sauce. I had the wild boat ragu pasta as an entree which was AMAZING and hubby had the Italian sausage pepperdelle which was ok:) great place to eat at a decent price!

Experience true love at this amazing Italian restaurant with an incredible view of the village. As you walk up the stairs you feel like your discovering a beautiful Tuscan home with lofted ceilings, romantic lighting, and a vibrant kitchen/bar holy cannoli I love this place. Everything I have tried has been delicious. It's a great place for a date or a large dinner party. It is usually packed so try to make a reservation if you can. This place has become a tradition for me to visit whenever I go the Beavercreek/vail for the weekend and if I ever get married I'm going to have my rehearsal dinner there for sure.

The folks here are friendly & helpful, the wine list plentiful & fairly priced while the food is always fresh & tasty, especially the pastas. The soup was lukewarm on our most recent visits, and when we told the waiter (same waiter both visits) and manager, they immediately notified the chef and offered to remove them from our bill. We ate the soup and insisted on paying for them (they were really good, just not warm enough), but their concern and respect for their customers is exactly what we expect from establishments with integrity, unlike some others we all know (see my previous review). Keep doing what you're doing, Campos, you rock!

All the things you expect from a good restaurant; good food, polite and attentive service, and comfortable atmosphere. The room is packed during the ski season so be sure to get reservations. The room is rather loud when full so if you like quiet while dining this place is probably not for you. I didn't notice any animatronic robots so I don't get the Chuck E. Cheese comparison. The food is not OMG great but it is of a high quality. The price point is appropriate for Vail but I would think it a little overpriced if it were in my hometown. If you're not staying in Vail, you likely will have to park in the public ramp about 1/4 mile from the restaurant.

This is as close to authentic Italian cuisine as you can get here in the states. The salads cold and crisp, the pasta was al dente, the sauces were superb and the service was excellent to match. The place is quaint and the decorating made us feel like we were back in Florence or Venice. A warning; this is a busy place and the acoustics are a challenge (especially if you don't like to hear the sound of other people having a really good time!). Price was moderate by Vail standards, about $120 for two with a bottle of wine and tip. Would go back in a heart beat.

my fav italian spot in vail! crowded but comfy/homey at the same time. the kitchen heats up the entire place and it's loud as hell! the food is amazing, the pasta al dente, the bread...GOOD (foreshadowing that the food would most likely be good) and the service was friendly. (there is another on in aspen too)

We're familiar with Campo in Aspen and it is a favorite. Vail's version is far below Aspen. Told there were no 7 pm reservations we booked at 6:30 pm. At 7:15 the place was empty. Open kitchen was intentionally loud with cooks slamming pans down intentionally. Management was defensive when we complained about the noise. Pass this one up.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
