I ordered two expensive deli "scoops" for lunch. The chicken salad was fine--not too much mayo and thankfully no onions. But the peaches with goat cheese and basil were what I really wanted. At the height of Colorado peach season, it would have to be magical, right? Nope. Peaches were mealy and flavorless. I should have said something but at that point the restaurant was heaving with the lunch crowd so I threw it away and left. $12 for a scoop of chicken salad--no thanks. Better restaurant choices elsewhere. I suppose I might try them again but would ask to sample anything that looked good in the case.

I liked this place so much I visited twice while in Telluride recently. They have pretty awesome sandwiches and a lot of lovely salads and veggie plates. It's a nice option to get 1-2 veggie sides on a plate and have that for lunch, or go for a bigger sandwich. I tried their signature roast beef with caramelized onions and swiss and it was very good. I liked the roast turkey one better. And do not miss their cookies for dessert - they made a ginger molasses one that was awesome.

We went on a Friday evening for a few drinks and an appetizer. Not very busy, as I think they just started serving dinner (previously just breakfast & lunch). We ordered the house charcuterie, a garden mule and a beer. The charcuterie was some of the best we've had. The garden mule was an outstanding drink. Service was great. All the food looked good on the menu and would like to go back to try a full meal.

I love this spot. I make it a point to eat here each time I visit T-ride. They have moved since the last time I was here and now they serve dinner! Yay! Allison was an excellent waitress (though whoever is working seems to share the job) - very accommodating and easy going. We tried the special risotto with mushrooms and the fish and chips. Plus some delicious cocktails - all super yummy!

What a tasty treat! I met friends in the little park across the street, and they had acquired all sorts of delectable goods from this fantastic store. I consumed a swath flavors: cauliflower curry; seaweed salad; sesame garlic kale; and feta watermelon. Each little dish was magical on a slightly-too-hot afternoon during the Bluegrass Festival. So, vegetarians, don't be fooled by this oddly-named cafe. There are fantastic veggie-friendly dishes to be had within!

Waitress was not a happy camper. Chai latte was nice. Not very spicy, but it was good. Get your own water. Had a cindabun to start. They didn't even warm it up. Not strong in cinnamon flavor, and no gooey glaze. Not bad, but not really good either. I had a bacon and cheese breakfast sandwich. Basic, but nothing else really caught my eye. None of their dishes come with any sides, so I was worried about being hungry later. It came out with spinach and tomato...but no cheese. I alerted the not friendly waitress, and she took it back to add a slice of cheese. My husband was half way through his breakfast by the time I got my sandwich back. I was afraid they'd made me another one, which wasn't necessary, but no, it just took them that long to put a slice of cheese on it. I also thought the menu said 2 eggs (which I didn't need), but it definitely only had one. That may have been a misread on my part though; I can't swear to it. Hubs had the GF blueberry pancakes, which were the most expensive item on the menu. Three slightly larger than silver dollar pancakes came out, and that was it. Nothing "wowed" about them, and he was starving again well before lunch. The place was cute. Very Pinterest-y. We were there in shoulder season, so they were almost full, but not busy enough that we had to wait.

Woooah, this place is wonderful! Like, so good that we came two mornings in a row. And we were only in town for two days... That's gotta say something. You place your order at one station & then pay at another. You're given a table marker that you're supposed to place on your table if you order something that has to be prepared in the back. The seating can be a little scarce if you come at a super busy time. But we didn't have any trouble finding a table. Also, you bus your own table & everything is pretty much self serve. I'm a fan of this system. You can also grab your own water. And they don't put out those typical flimsy plastic cups. They have actual cups. The interior is super duper cute. There are delicious pastries displayed near the ordering station. They're so tempting, we had to try them. We got a chocolate croissant our first trip & a cindabun the second. Both were just great! So great that my boyfriend & I had trouble sharing them with one another. Our first trip, we got breakfast burritos. They were so tasty! Pretty unusual combination of flavors but it worked! Just know that they are pre-made so you can't make any adjustments to the ingredients. We didn't have any issue with this. I actually think it would be pretty handy if you're in a rush or on your way to work. Skip the wait & order a burrito. On our second trip, we ordered breakfast sandwiches on English muffins. The eggs were over medium, which I didn't even know I liked until having them on this trip. The sandwiches were amazing. And huge! You will not be disappointed.

A unique gem in Telluride for breakfast, lunch and now dinner. Fresh and delicious- really quality ingredients and healthy. I love the new location and worth the wait if there is a crowd.

This place has potential. Sadly, waited 50 minutes for our breakfast order. Small portions. Expensive for what it is. Plus side, coffee was good. Exercise caution on the very busy Sunday AM's

My family used to be huge fans of this place. We eat here every year when in Telluride. Today will be the last time. We came in for lunch on a slow Tuesday. The service was horrific. The woman taking our order with short hair and a baseball cap was rude and sarcastic when we went up to ask about missing pieces of our order. My wife waited 35min for a salmon salad. when it came out it was missing half of the ingredients listed on the menu and was drenched in dressing poured over top of it rather than tossed. On top of mediocre food and terrible service, no one even remotely apologized or tried to fix our negative experience.

Excellent Sunday brunch! I ordered the southwest scramble, my hunnybunny ordered gluten free blueberry pancakes. I also couldn't resist a yummy Bloody Mary mmm mmm! The scramble was cooked perfectly and was so flavorful. Came with a side of toast and some berries. My sweetie had the gf blueberry pancakes and he eve let me have a taste which was awesome. Didn't need syrup because of the sweet topping that came on the side. Not a lot of seating but a quaint little place. I really liked it here.

Solid 3.5 stars. Why? 1 star deduction for price: had brunch for 2 on Sunday & it was a whopping $40! Then another 1/2 star deduction for the loooong wait for food. It was busy, but not packed & it took a really long time for the food to come. Good thing I wasn't in a hurry! The food, when it finally came out, was solid. What we had: French toast w/whipped cream & berries: I can taste that the whipped cream was from scratch. The French toast wasn't soggy, made w/thick challah bread. Really good Beef hash: the beef brisket was delish. Just not enuf of it! My plate had a bunch of potatoes, veggies, too little brisket & egg. Filling, but the brisket was really good & I wish I had more Cindabun: unlike other yelpers, did NOT think that it was a particularly memorable cinnamon bun. I liked that it wasn't too sweet. It was nice & flaky. But not particularly flavorful- kinda bland, really. Blueberry muffin: standard as well. Not particularly mind blowing. They have a bar & serve dinner. You gotta bus your own tables. And they could really use a coat rack as there are stools & there's nowhere to put stuff! In all, would only be back if I wasn't in a hurry & in the mood for breakfast that wasn't waffles (bc then I would be getting that waffle at the Steaming Bean- the only food item I would get there). Any other type of breakfast food, go to Butcher & Baker. But make sure ur not in a hurry!

They came correct over Telluride Bluegrass weekend with some awesome coffee and breakfast burritos to go fast and early. Food was great, servers were hipster cranky, hit the sweet spot.

Simple breakfast menu. I enjoyed the lox and bagel. Large portion of lox, housemade bagel was over toasted. Husband's breakfast burrito was just ok. Very loud atmosphere.

It is a perfect place for light lunch. One of their soup of the day is chicken corn chowder and it was just delicious. They have a large selection of really yummy and unique salads that will make deciding really hard.

Feel like the menu is a little limited, but the food overall was good. Went for a quick dinner and had the quesadilla and the burger. I think it must be a new menu, because when the burger first came out it was missing the cheese and bacon. When we brought it up, the staff and the cook both looked at us like we were crazy before referring to the menu to see for themselves. Once they saw it on the menu though, they made us a brand new burger and were really nice about the whole thing. Also tried one of their homemade brownies, which was delicious. Would definitely try it again.

I love how cute and quaint this place is! The place is small so it is hard to get seating in the morning for breakfast. Lunch time doesn't seem as bad so if you must sit, go around this time. I believe their menu items change often depending on when and where their ingredients come from. I think that is really neat how organic and local their ingredients are. So, the price is also a little higher than what I'm used to. We had their breakfast sandwich, chicken pot pie, granola parfait, fruit salad, coffee, and hot chocolate. The breakfast sandwich was awesome which consisted of avocado, egg, and bacon. The hot chocolate was super rich in chocolate (don't forget to mix since the chocolate is at the bottom of the cup) and perfect after getting hailed on. The chicken pot pie was super amazing cause it had this asian spicy taste to it. I met one of the owners and she seemed like a very genuine person. The staff was great and friendly to everyone (even the most difficult people). Overall, great place to hang out, look at the mountains, and enjoy a great meal.

Let me start by saying I like the food, but most everything tease flies in the face of service. After refusing Amex, which many cost conscious places do, they ask for a tip when you sign. For what? A gratuity should be based on service, which is why at my fast casual concept we don't even have a place for a tip on the card charge, and if someone wants they can drop a few bucks in the jar. We then had to get our own drinks, sat at a table which is where the only service was performed, bringing us our food. Ah but wait, they don't bring you eating utensils, so we have to get up and get our own. How hard would it be to deliver those with my $15.salad? Then the last insult is they want you to bus your own table for them. Service charge? We the guest are not responsible to pay your employees unless they provide service. You seem to think your hands off serviceless place has no responsibility. Your bread and butter comes from folks not used to this attitude, and it would take such a small effort on your part to Remedy.

First time in telluride and we happened into butcher and the baker and we were shocked by the caliber of the food. The best food since last summer in Copenhagen especially the spring vegetable plate and the house made ricotta. Great hand crafted beer and wine from South Africa was a great value during happy hour! Friendly service. Highly recommend.

Great food. One of the best places to grab food in town in a casual setting. Good prices. Reason not 5 stars: They need someone that keeps tables clean. It's fine that you have to bus your own table, but someone to wipe down tables between customers is needed. Every time we eat here it's kind of gross to wipe down previous customer food mess with the cloth napkins. Espresso drinks is not their specialty.

Coffee was excellent, burrito was not great, and it took 45 mins to make a small plate of pancakes. The atmosphere is great and the lighting is warm, but I wouldn't recommend coming for more than the excellent coffee.

Once in a while you stumble into a place because you need a cup of coffee.... or are hungry for breakfast.... or in my case BOTH.... and you like it so much that you go back during each remaining morning of your vacation. That's what happened when I recently attended the Telluride Film Festival. Day 2 I ate here... and then I never searched out another breakfast place. The service was friendly, the place was cute and clean, the choices were great, and EVERYTHING tasted amazing! I tried coffee (of course) and a scone and a bagel and an English muffin and tuna and chicken salads (don't judge... sometimes a gal needs her protein) and peaches with cream. (Obviously not all in the same day) and everything tasted fresh and delicious and like it was made with love (and top notch ingredients). Wonderful.... Just wonderful!

I thought I was going to love this place when I passed it on the street in Telluride a few days ago during the Bluegrass Festival. My friends and I walked in near closing time (it was 6 p.m. that day) and we at first received a very positive vibe - the girl at the counter was stressed, but polite, and asked us to close their front door so no more customers would come in, which we happily did. When we came up to the register to order, we thought we would get quick service by an employee happy to be finishing up her day. Instead, we received "ugh, are you serious, come on guys!?" when we ordered an iced latte, iced coffee, and one of their prepackaged take out snacks (we got the broccoli salad, which was tasty). My partner walked out at this point, upset by the bad service, but I felt bad for the stressed out young lady, and the rest of us stayed. After we ordered, the young lady behind the counter proceeded to announce - to an empty restaurant (remember, we shut the door) - that no one should attempt to order any more espresso drinks. To make matters even worse, the more "adult" employees (manager, cooks, etc) were in the back hanging out and several clearly heard the announcement (one even gave us a smirk while slugging down what looked like whiskey). At this point, we should have just walked out, but feeling responsible, we paid our bill, gather our goods (one of which was made incorrectly), and left feeling upset by what should have been an easy and quick transaction. Having worked in the restaurant industry for many years, I understand that feeling of a late group coming in. I also understand that it was the end of a very busy day during festival weekend. A simple "sorry guys, I already cleaned up the espresso machine" or "we only have premade items at this point" would have been great. Instead we were left by unnecessary attitude and drama and writing a bad review of an establishment I really wanted to like.

It was a busy day during the Imogene pass run and the place was jumping... which is curious as to why the front wasn't working more efficiently. There seemed to be a very lazy, disoriented ballet going on despite the height of the rush. The gal running the "order" register was not in top form. She was wandering around to fulfill the order and not entirely focused. We could have condensed my two item order into an efficient 2-3 minutes of exchange, but it lingered unnecessarily as she meandered into the kitchen to ask questions, and then back to the front to do a little of this and that before coming back to complete the order process. Tables were dirty. Not too big of a deal since the dirt was a melange of crumbs. I had to wait for my breakfast burrito to be made since they ran out of sausage. That wasn't a big deal at all. The coffee was dark and strong (and a bit chewy like camp coffee... people, check for floating grounds) but I rather liked it. After a 15 minute wait I received my breakfast burrito. It was great. Seriously tasty with an amazing mix within of egg, sweet potato, salsa, blackbeans, and that sausage I had to have, all wrapped in a spiced tortilla. I was very happy with this burrito. I will go back in the future and try out their pastries.

Food, Waitstaff, and ambiance is great and gets 5 stars. I know they just reopened but have a long way to go operationally. Steer clear until they figure their stuff out. They realllly need to work out some kinks- particularly in the Kitchen. Came here twice. First time for lunch, 3 of us ordered a sandwich. They brought out 2 of the sandwiches in about 20 minutes and the third took over an additional 20 (simple turkey sandwich). Waitstaff was nice and comped the the 3rd sandwich. So overall wasn't a bad experience so decided to give it another shot for breakfast.... Bad idea. Second time was for breakfast - I ordered a breakfast burrito which was pre-made. Then we waited over 35 minutes for a breakfast sandwich (basically a fancy egg mcmuffin). We also ordered 2 bloody marrys. They only had enough mix for 1 so tried to give us $8 back (drink was $9 + tax and the 20% tip we already paid). Again, food is great but wait is ridiculous for what you get. Either bring a novel and be prepared to wait, only get what's pre-made, or wait until they figure everything out.

Flies buzzing around as a result of doors being open was not cool but food was really fresh and the seating layout well done for a tight space. Sandwiches and baked goods are above average but the side salads are what really makes this place stand out. Picnic lunches for the trail are likely not going to be beaten in Telluride as they've cornered the market in that regard!

Great place for breakfasts. The food is made fresh from scratch and it shows. Eat here, you won't regret it. I only have two small complaints. The tables don't get bussed very well (lots of crumbs get left behind) and its pretty warm inside and could use some stronger air conditioning.

April 23rd, 2015 we came during 3 week off season and understand how things can be complicated and hard to predict # of customers etc. That said, one of the items tonight was advertised as Wild Caught, Steamed Littleneck Clams. They were not Littlenecks. They were Manila clams. We informed the waitress who spoke with the chef who admitted that they were Manilas and explained that they ordered Littlenecks,,that the box they got said Littlenecks on the outside but they noted immediately that they were Manilas. BUT they also added no one in Colorado would notice. So for honesty, A+++ - maybe? I wrote a gentle note with payment suggesting that they change the wording on the menu board &/or warn customers who would order the dish. We said we'll pay anyway understanding they were stressed in off season BUT we were not offered a cup of coffee in return. That's on the owner or manager - not the waitresses who could not have been nicer. NOT OKAY GUYS. SO F+++ for concern about customers.

We've just stopped in to have a cup of coffee and apple pie. Apple pie was served after warms. Crispy and light taste crust and juicy apple filling. Actually quite simple but it's my cup of coffee. We would love to come here to have a brunch next time.

Overpriced and unbelievably rude staff from day one that they opened. I have tried it repeatedly. A friend of mine was recently told "they didn't need her business". Nobody seems to care about their job or enjoy what they are doing. I won't be back (haven't been back in 9 months actually, but after being told the story last night about my friend, I decided to write this review). Don't support rude businesses!

I was so looking forward to this place based on the reviews. My boyfriend got the breakfast burrito with sausage and I got the bacon breakfast sandwich. Mine was served on an unadorned toasted English muffin with a fried egg, overdone bacon and some cheddar cheese. It was dry and by no means impressive. My boyfriend's burrito was better but nothing spectacular. I was disappointed. It was also very busy and the seating was communal and awkward. I would try it again, I think, but not when it's busy, that's for sure.
The steak sandwich was delicious! I'm so glad we stopped in here while in town because it was one of the best sandwiches I've had in a while. The ciabatta, which they make in house, was yummy and crunchy. Also, it's wonderfully bright and airy on the inside. Definitely a locals/popular spot, in half hour we were there people were in and out all the time.

If I could give zero stars, I would! This place is the absolute worst (I'm actually writing this review while at The Butcher & The Baker in hopes that I can save someone from making a huge mistake!) The employees are rude and the food was so disappointing. My sandwich was made incorrectly after a 15 min wait! Go to Aemono Fine Foods instead.

It's a bummer that a place like this doesn't offer anything aside from oatmeal for a vegan breakfast. They couldn't even take the egg, cheese, and meat out of the breakfast burrito. I have to say though, the oatmeal was absolutely divine. It was perfectly cooked and topped with just the right amount of brown sugar, plump dried cranberries, almonds, and almond milk. I realize it's difficult to mess up oatmeal but this was good stuff! After ordering you serve yourself getting all utensils, napkins, and condiments on your own. You're also asked to bus your own table. It's strange but it works. It's a cute spot.

A real Telluride gem! This is the cutest place on the east side for healthy and satisfying sandwiches, salads and baked goods. Also a great spot for breakfast with fried egg breakfast sammys and breakfast burritos. They also have a seriously phenomenal bloody!!

Fantastic little place! Prices look a bit high but once you try it are clearly justified. I've had breakfast here several times and it's always been great. The beef hash in particular was beyond expectations - real beef (shredded pot roast?), big chunks of taters and some veggies with a pair of eggs blanketing it. Great coffee (Unseen Bean from Boulder)! Lunch was equally as fresh and impressive. Service is very friendly and prompt.

After walking around town for a little bit, we decided to grab some lunch. We had it narrowed down to this place and another sandwich place. We found this place first, so decided to eat here. It is a quaint place with limited seating, but luckily we made it right before the lunch rush so we were able to get a table. My husband and sister opted for the Korean pork sandwich, but I got the roast beef so I could share with my husband. The sandwiches were pretty good, we preferred the pork over the roast beef. The roast beef just didn't have as much flavor as I was hoping for and the bread wasn't as good. The price was a little steep since all you get was a sandwich, no chips or side. The fact that this place is in Telluride, obviously dictates that kind of price. However, for almost $10.00 per sandwich, I would think a side couldn't hurt. Overall it is a decent place, but probably wouldn't go back unless someone else was paying.

We look fwd to eating here multiple times when we visit. Breakfast sandwiches & burritos are great, and don't forget to grab some roasted Brussels sprout salad to take with you. Mimosa, Bloody Mary....great. Love their hand-sewn cloth napkins (made in Rico, CO).

Great place for breakfast, haven't done lunch there. I had the Southwest scramble and it was great. Wife had the breakfast sandwich special and it was great. Kids had oatmeal, waffles, and eggs in a hole. Oatmeal - great, waffles - good, eggs in a hole - good. Service was friendly and the place is really cool. Very small with limited seating, so if you have four or more it may take a while to sit.

Ate here during our vacation and had read some reviews about the staff having bad attitudes. Well, we decided to give it a go and see for ourselves and the girl that was behind the register (long haired petite blond) was indeed one of the RUDEST. They were too busy discussing what cheap apartment a friend should consider instead of attending to customers. I guess that the facial muscles that causes one to smile, do not work on this girl. And there was nothing quick about her either, perhaps her danskos were too darn heavy on her feet. If flat, monotone, and rude attitude are what you prefer, eat here!! There is plenty of it. The food, well, that was OK. Oh, the woman that brought our breakfast out to us apparently has a phobia of making eye contact and saying "you're welcome" when we thanked her. They were nice to the locals. Smile ladies, it won't hurt, I promise.

I was calling to have a cake made for my husbands 40th b-day. Apparently they were very busy and she took out all her aggression on me. She treated me like I was NOT a customer. Told me this was a bad time to call, she couldn't hear me and HUNG UP. I called back and was treated las if I'm bothering her. Was going to have this cake made from them, but not after I was treated like shit. I'm assuming by the pic of cake I wanted, it would of cost around 400$. There loss. My parents have a second home up in the Mesa (Saw Pit) and word does travel in T-ride

I think we were lucky to hit the "off" season in Telluride because I'm sure this place would be packed at any other time. The cool concierge at the hotel we were staying at told me that this was where she eats and I see why. Great food, cozy, quaint, atmosphere and good beers and coffee. What else do you need? I love the off season in resort towns and love eating where the locals eat. I will be back!

Ingredients taste like they were picked from a garden this morning (all of them, the peach, tomato, lettuce, avocado). Good coffee! I removed one star because their fresh baked ciabatta bread is pretty bland (would be nice if they offer to toast the sandwich bread, I didn't remember to ask). Coffee and sandwich $11.50, worth it for the quality. Lastly, the bathroom is clean and so cute.

Breakfast are made from scratch so they taste fresh and delicious. I've been coming here everyday during our visit as it's worth our money to come. I have two small but important requests that would help the place improve: (1) have the table busses more often so the customers will find a clean table and seat themselves while one orders. (2) the place is warm during summer so using air conditioner would help a lot.

I wanted to update my review of The Butcher & The Baker based on my most recent visit several days ago. I will admit that after a previous experience there last year (long wait for what seemed like overpriced food) I had sworn that I would not return. However, after a long run on the trails above Telluride I was hungry and The Butcher & The Baker was very close by so I decided to give it another try. Let me say that it was a weekday at 3pm so was not at all crowded and I think that really helped things this time. I ordered the hummus sandwich with feta, greens, and some other good veggies. I also had a ginger molasses cookie and an iced latte. All were absolutely fresh and delicious and were ready in about 10 minutes or less for take out. Overall, I enjoyed my return to The Butcher & The Baker and will likely plan on going again (during off peak times of the day). While a bit on the pricey side, there food is fresh, tasty, and made with authentic ingredients so I really do think in the end it is well worth it.

Need a good value for lunch? Make your own sandwich or wrap for $8.50, then throw in an iced tea or fresh-baked pastry. Today my turkey and spinach wrap with chipotle aioli hit the spot. Window seats, perfect for people watching. Or sit on the sidewalk outside. I wish I had a place like this at home: gourmet but not expensive.

First impressions are hard to redo... After having stayed in town for a week and eaten in many of the restaurants in town this was a bit of a shocking experience. Every other place in town my wife and I had experienced thus far were extremely friendly, welcoming, polite. The girl working behind the counter was rude, impolite, never bothered to say welcome or thanks. Really seemed like she had no interest in our being there. We went to sit down and every take was filthy, plates were on half the tables, the other half had food or spilled beverages. Generally unkempt place. Plus this was not on the middle of a huge lunch rush, there was only one other couple in the whole place. Our one sandwich took nearly twenty minutes to arrive, and was mediocre or less. Meh, all in all will not be going back. Cleanliness I can over look, food quality meh, rude counter help and it's three strikes. Plenty of other delicious and incredibly friendly places to nosh at in town...

Cute and hip minimal country interior---although it was not crazy busy the set up does not lend itself well for those waiting in line. What was odd to me was how many people were working there and the length of time you had to wait. Food to go for picnics or hikes looked good and was a fair price compared to other places. Overall, the interior is good bait to go in.

We ate here for lunch twice and had the grilled salmon, farroh salad, green bean salad, tortellini with spicy sausage, chocolate chip cookies & the chicken salad wrap. All were delicious so it seems you can't go wrong. I love their colorful cloth napkins and tin plates.

Even though we havent eaten any food yet, I am already simply & utterly charmed by this little eatery! My husband & I are enjoing local brews while we wait & people watching passersby. Ahhh, the food has arrived: mediterranean panini for me & flat iron steak sandwich for him. The sandwich & panini were fantastic! They had such a great deal of substance, I even had trouble finishing mine. We would definitely go back, especially to try their custom cocktails. :) We also thought it was neat how many to-go items they had offered by the pound: fried chicken, chicken tandoori, chicken pot pies, cold salads and soups by the bowl.

the butcher & the baker is a gourmet deli. They serve up fresh sandwiches, soups, pizzas, salads by the pound, quiche, etc. Plus brewed iced tea and lemonade, and espresso. The spot was bustling on a Wednesday at lunchtime, however the staff was quick and efficient, so no one waited longer than 5 minutes to get their lunch. Plenty of windows and tasteful decorations make this little luncheonette a vibrant place to grab a healthy and delicious lunch (or breakfast). We sampled both the lemonade and the iced tea. Both were thirst-quenching and just sweet enough (naturally w/ agave nectar). My partner ate a breakfast burrito that, although not prepared fresh to-order, tasted great--sweet potatoes were included in the filling (a nice addition to a BB in my opinion). I had the daily soup, chicken w/ whole grain rice in a light tomato broth. The soup was hearty yet lacked "umami." I also sampled a slice of a hot-out-of-the-oven pesto, ricotta, and plum tomato pizza. This was a simple and savory cracker-like bite. Other interesting items I saw walk past our table were: hand carved meat sandwiches on freshly baked whole grain bread; roasted asparagus served chilled as a side; and gluten-free pie. They also sell organic eggs by the dozen and what looked like quarts of house-made soups. All in all, I'd say this little spot has found its comfort zone on the main drag of Telluride. I'd certainly go back again to sample more of the menu offerings.

I ate here over last weekend and I felt the portion size was a little skimpy for what you pay. I had an organic egg scramble with sourdough bread and an order of gluten free blueberry pancakes as well as a glass of OJ which was not freshly squeezed. Although the food was good, I left feeling hungry - as an athlete and frequent cyclist. I also paid 28 dollars for the breakfast. Probably a first. I would recommend the place to others but only if they're not looking for a huge breakfast. Personally, I would not return for a meal to start my day.

worst food ever. Croissants were burnt, they didn't have enough Ciabatta bread for even 2 sandwhiches at lunch time. I understand prices are higher than Denver, but $8.50 for a small sandwich with no sides (chips or cookie) is crazy. It wasn't tasty, but bland. Do people up there not know good food? So one yuppy says great food, all others follow suit?

Great food. Found this place last year, and had a breakfast burrito, cinnamon buns, and cookies. Made a few visits, hoping that the staff would get friendlier...didn't happen last year. Went back during this year's trip...hasn't happened this year, either. Got a great tuna salad sandwich, our four friends got great turkey sandwiches, and we all got great cookies and great cinnamon buns. However, none of us went back. The lack of hospitality borders on rudeness. I am sure that not everyone that they deal with is pleasant, but we certainly have always been friendly and personable, trying to make them smile. In a town where there are plenty of smiles, good food, and good service, it is difficult to justify going somewhere that doesn't offer all of these at once. I have seen comments regarding this issue on other sites, and was hoping that there had been some changes as a result, but not thus far. I hope that this situation will resolve itself by next year.

Fantastic Sunday brunch! Quaint atmosphere, decent service. I ordered the veggie hash and my boyfriend ordered the French toast. Both were wonderful, while a little rich. We also both had the "agave sweetened lemonade" which was phenomenal.

Great place for breakfasts. The food is made fresh from scratch and it shows. Eat here, you won't regret it. I only have two small complaints. The tables don't get bussed very well (lots of crumbs get left behind) and its pretty warm inside and could use some stronger air conditioning.

They were referred by our hotel ,(Hotel Telluride) , Great choice, My wife said that they were, Very friendly , excellent food, bake goods and the English muffins were to "die for"! Big mistake; Make sure that you grab more than just one of their cookies for the very long dive home. A dozen will go further. PLH

BLT pretty tasteless - mostly lettuce. Breakfast burrito not great. Apple strudel cold - freezing cold. Good healthy food. But they are missing out on a lot here.

Stressed out employees, uninspired and cold breakfast sandwich. I'm over it...

Best Turkey Sandwhiches, just like the days following thanksgiving. Wow! Should come here daily! Two years later of going here, still my favorite sandwich, casual, breakfast, lunch, prepared foods establishment in Telluride!

A real Telluride gem! This is the cutest place on the east side for healthy and satisfying sandwiches, salads and baked goods. Also a great spot for breakfast with fried egg breakfast sammys and breakfast burritos. They also have a seriously phenomenal bloody!!

Great place to eat or take something to go! Everything fresh and fantastic bakery! I go there every year! Prices for quality is well worth it! Only open until the afternoon so pick up something to go!

I hope that this situation will resolve itself by next year.

the butcher & the baker is a gourmet deli.

Fantastic spot with great local cuisine. Best BLT ever. Pastries were great and totally fresh.

(4)Sally P.

(5)Jeff K.
This place has potential. Sadly, waited 50 minutes for our breakfast order. Small portions. Expensive for what it is. Plus side, coffee was good. Exercise caution on the very busy Sunday AM's
(3)Jared R.

Really nice chicken salad and spinach Cobb salad. and bike parking right out front! ! Casual, fun vibe. Highly recommended.

(5)Wendy W.
(3)Casey S.
They came correct over Telluride Bluegrass weekend with some awesome coffee and breakfast burritos to go fast and early. Food was great, servers were hipster cranky, hit the sweet spot.
(5)Laura P.
Simple breakfast menu. I enjoyed the lox and bagel. Large portion of lox, housemade bagel was over toasted. Husband's breakfast burrito was just ok. Very loud atmosphere.
(3)Yan Wei L.
It is a perfect place for light lunch. One of their soup of the day is chicken corn chowder and it was just delicious. They have a large selection of really yummy and unique salads that will make deciding really hard.
(5)Amber L.
(4)Thy T.
(4)Shannon W.

(5)Robert R.
(4)Robert T.
Coffee was excellent, burrito was not great, and it took 45 mins to make a small plate of pancakes. The atmosphere is great and the lighting is warm, but I wouldn't recommend coming for more than the excellent coffee.
(2)Carlos P.
This place has the worst possible service, not just slow but rude. The food is mediocre. Do yourself a favor and pass in this place...
(1)Jody G.

(1)Matt H.
(3)Caitlin D.
(2)Mr B.
(4)Travis T.
Great place for breakfasts. The food is made fresh from scratch and it shows. Eat here, you won't regret it. I only have two small complaints. The tables don't get bussed very well (lots of crumbs get left behind) and its pretty warm inside and could use some stronger air conditioning.
(4)Jedd J.
Went for lunch on a sunny March day.

(1)Harumi Laura C.
We've just stopped in to have a cup of coffee and apple pie. Apple pie was served after warms. Crispy and light taste crust and juicy apple filling. Actually quite simple but it's my cup of coffee. We would love to come here to have a brunch next time.
(4)Mimi A.
Good sandwich- tragically awful service. Waited forever then our order was not complete. Disappointing.
(1)Monica B.
(1)JOSEPH A.
We had lunch here, I had the Ham& Cheddar, on Panini and my wife had the turkey on ciabatta sandwiches, Some of the BEST we have ever had....!!
(5)Peter K.
Kids liked their food, nachos and PBJ. Adult food was not good. Soup had hair in it. Staff was inattentive. Food took a while to come and turned out it was ready and sitting on cooks counter so was cold. Bad experience.
(1)Kay K.
Apple Pie get it with Ice Cream to die for.
(5)Crys A.
(3)Sarah N.
Stepping up into the restaurant, I immediately liked the clean, airy colors and lines. Although the menus shown high up on the boards seemed to explain things well, I wanted to ensure I understood the process, so I asked the girl how the menu worked. Her answer was thorough, but it was not helped by the twinge of sarcastic impatience. Hmm. I might have ignored the tone had she not half-rolled her eyes. At the counter, the fiancé ordered a turkey sandwich which arrived promptly and was delicious. The yummy (raspberry?) vinaigrette did not overwhelm the thick slices of turkey but totally complemented the brie, and the fresh arugula was abundant and crisp. The bread itself deserves praises! The lemonade was also very good - no one said so, but my guess is that it was fresh-squeezed. The cloth napkins offered on the tables were festive and colorful. I can see this place getting real packed. My only other gripe is that for 1 sandwich and 1 drink, I think we paid $3 too much, especially since the sandwich didn't come with housemade chips or something. Sure, it's affordable compared to the sit-down restaurants in Telluride, but for something like this, I think there's room for more bang for the buck... especially since we had been greeted a bit rudely. Overall, the quality of the ingredients is evident. I just wish the first staff member had been as nice as her colleague who brought out our food because customers like me enjoy good service but personally take to heart the negative ones.
(3)Allison M.
(5)Jereb C.
Best food on the planet, local fresh ingredients and super great service with a smile!
(5)Carly D.

(4)Rob B.
(5)David B.
The place for breakfast. Friendly staff. Good food. Quick service. No better way to start your day. Blows Baked in Telluride out of the water for breakfast.

This place is awesome!! I recommend the flat iron steak sandwich. The bread alone is mouth-watering!

(3)Amy G.
(5)Todd M.
(4)Diane D.
Great place to eat or take something to go! Everything fresh and fantastic bakery! I go there every year! Prices for quality is well worth it! Only open until the afternoon so pick up something to go!

(2)Larry H.
PLH
(5)Bobby S.
BLT pretty tasteless - mostly lettuce. Breakfast burrito not great. Apple strudel cold - freezing cold. Good healthy food. But they are missing out on a lot here.
(2)Sarah F.
Stressed out employees, uninspired and cold breakfast sandwich. I'm over it...
(2)chris v.
Best Turkey Sandwhiches, just like the days following thanksgiving. Wow! Should come here daily! Two years later of going here, still my favorite sandwich, casual, breakfast, lunch, prepared foods establishment in Telluride!

(5)Veronica C.
(4)Cathy T.

(4)Luke P.
Great breakfast and coffee. Maybe one of the best ham and cheese croissants I have ever had.
(4)Tally J.
Fantastic Sunday brunch! Quaint atmosphere, decent service. I ordered the veggie hash and my boyfriend ordered the French toast. Both were wonderful, while a little rich. We also both had the "agave sweetened lemonade" which was phenomenal.
(5)Jake S.
(5)Patrick B.
(1)Lark L.
(3)Laura B.
We ate here for lunch twice and had the grilled salmon, farroh salad, green bean salad, tortellini with spicy sausage, chocolate chip cookies & the chicken salad wrap. All were delicious so it seems you can't go wrong. I love their colorful cloth napkins and tin plates.
(5)Becca F.
(5)Gigi X.
the butcher & the baker is a gourmet deli.
(4)C C.
(3)Wendy H.
Fantastic spot with great local cuisine. Best BLT ever. Pastries were great and totally fresh.
(5)liz t.
quick and tasty. Everything looked great.
(4)Sue K.
worst food ever.
(1)Michelle B.
(4)Jared R.

Really nice chicken salad and spinach Cobb salad. and bike parking right out front! ! Casual, fun vibe. Highly recommended.

Terrible salad for $15.00-plate of arugula, 3 chicken mcnuggets and a tiny bit of dressing--ripoff

(5)Wendy W.

(4)David Z.
(4)Allison L.
(4)Sally P.
(5)Melissa P.
(3)Mary R.
(4)Kay L.
(2)Rachel H.
(5)Hilary T.
A unique gem in Telluride for breakfast, lunch and now dinner. Fresh and delicious- really quality ingredients and healthy. I love the new location and worth the wait if there is a crowd.
(5)Jeff K.
This place has potential. Sadly, waited 50 minutes for our breakfast order. Small portions. Expensive for what it is. Plus side, coffee was good. Exercise caution on the very busy Sunday AM's
(3)Laura P.
(5)Amber L.
(4)Thy T.
(4)Shannon W.

(5)Robert R.
(1)Jody G.
(5)JOSEPH A.
We had lunch here, I had the Ham& Cheddar, on Panini and my wife had the turkey on ciabatta sandwiches, Some of the BEST we have ever had....!!

Kids liked their food, nachos and PBJ. Adult food was not good. Soup had hair in it. Staff was inattentive. Food took a while to come and turned out it was ready and sitting on cooks counter so was cold. Bad experience.

Good sandwich- tragically awful service. Waited forever then our order was not complete. Disappointing.

Best food on the planet, local fresh ingredients and super great service with a smile!

Overall it is a decent place, but probably wouldn't go back unless someone else was paying.

worst food ever.

A real Telluride gem! This is the cutest place on the east side for healthy and satisfying sandwiches, salads and baked goods. Also a great spot for breakfast with fried egg breakfast sammys and breakfast burritos. They also have a seriously phenomenal bloody!!

Great place to eat or take something to go! Everything fresh and fantastic bakery! I go there every year! Prices for quality is well worth it! Only open until the afternoon so pick up something to go!

:) We also thought it was neat how many to-go items they had offered by the pound: fried chicken, chicken tandoori, chicken pot pies, cold salads and soups by the bowl.

quick and tasty. Everything looked great.

(3)Laura B.
We ate here for lunch twice and had the grilled salmon, farroh salad, green bean salad, tortellini with spicy sausage, chocolate chip cookies & the chicken salad wrap. All were delicious so it seems you can't go wrong. I love their colorful cloth napkins and tin plates.

I hope that this situation will resolve itself by next year.

the butcher & the baker is a gourmet deli.

Fantastic spot with great local cuisine. Best BLT ever. Pastries were great and totally fresh.
