The service was really poor, my steak was completely burned, and the appetizers were tasteless. So many other good places in the area, so please skip this one.

great food which is should be for the price. I got the 4 oz petite filet mignon medium rare - it came out medium but it was still really good. great mashed potatoes & appetizers (the ahi tuna martini glass appetizer was really good) and the crab dip. great service, a bit slow for the food to come out but typical of a fancy restaurant. nice fire place too and big wide open windows. everyone enjoyed their food here!

My wife and I had our 44th anniversary meal here. The menu's at the other fine dining restaurants in Steamboat seemed a little weird, so we chose Three Peaks. It was 5:45 on a Sunday in July. We got reservations, but there was hardly anyone in the restaurant. The outside seating for happy hour and early bird meal menu was much busier. We had a great server(James), and enjoyed the ambiance and the food. We had the baked asadero cheese with the fig and cherry compote which was served with pita triangles, delicious. My wife had the steak and coconut shrimp which she really enjoyed. I had their pork tenderloin special with rice and spinach, which was outstanding. We were given a complimentary dessert ($11.00 value) from the menu for our anniversary. We split the banana cream pie which which was excellent. We each had a glass of wine, both were very good. Overall a great dinner and an enjoyable experience for about $88.00.

I seem to have a love/hate relationship with Three Peaks. I love it because of the memories I've made there over the years, the great food and service, the pleasant atmosphere, etc., etc. I hate it because everyone else in town seems to show up there about the same time I do, and I'm guessing, for the same reasons. The dining room is rather large and open and comes complete with fire place, leather sofas, and a fish tank. You may need to read your menu by cell phone light due to the low lit environment. On the bright side, you will find the wait staff to be more competent and friendly than most other places in town, and even when packed, the time from order to delivery is fairly prompt. On Friday nights at 8:00, live jazz is played to enhance the mood. Be warned that sitting in the vicinity of the musicians will negate any possibility of conversation. This is a great place to gather with friends and family to enjoy a juicy steak and a bottle of wine, snack on a plate of apps, sip a good martini, and go overboard with a mud pie. .

We came here for a New Year's Eve dinner. Apparently they just changed their menu to reflect more local dishes from Colorado, but unfortunately their prices also went up with this change. (You'd think local ingredients would be cheaper?) My striped sea bass was very bland and unseasoned. Not to mention it was lukewarm in temperature. My husbands' strip steak was a little overdone and dry. Everyone else seemed to like their food but I certainly didn't here any huge compliments. I thought overall the food was way over priced and just average in taste. The restaurant is beautiful with a modern feel but it also had a cozy mountain feel to it with all the wood and the 4 sided fireplace in the middle of the restaurant. Service was excellent. We always had filled water glasses and everything we needed. Great service and ambiance but mediocre and overpriced food. Ultimately you come to a restaurant to eat so sadly, that leaves me with a 2 star review

Wow. What a great dinner experience. My wife and I were able to dine here early on New Year's Eve and have a great experience. The service was attentive and friendly and the food was really exceptional compared to some other higher priced places we have tried around the mountain. This will become an annual must stop place for our family from here on out. Really unique menu, well prepared foods, a great kids menu and good wine list.

Service was great, drinks were expensive but well made, I still have a hard time converting Texas drink prices to almost anywhere else so this is probably a non-issue. The oysters were deliciously fresh and clean and my steak was cooked to order. There was nothing special about the menu selection other than a decent sized fresh seafood menu in the middle of the rockies. All in all it was a good meal with great company. If you're looking for a nice place to eat with family or a date or friends, you will be comfortable here with the nice decor, good service, and comfortable menu.

The place we wanted to dine at for NYE was completely booked, so we were able to get into this place instead. That said, I was a bit "meh" about eating here because I knew it wasn't deemed amazing by anyone - but thought I'd give it a chance with an open mind. First things first we were appalled to have no choice but to see a woman openly breast feeding while we waited for the rest of our party to arrive - not a reflection on the restaurant but we could not get over the fact that she was sitting near the hostess stand without even a shirt or blanket for privacy! Full-on views here, folks. Yikes... couldda done without that. Anyway, we were seated and had a young server that did a great job - he was relatively attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. The huge fireplace was gorgeous and the windows all along the walls were a great touch. The fish tank was beautiful, too. A great ambiance. After ordering drinks, we dined on prawns, steak, lobster tail, risotto, mashed potatoes and fresh cooked vegetables (my bf and I split our meals and each had a few bites of everything!) and everything tasted great. The serving sizes seemed small, like his piece of meat and even the lobster. When you pay that much for a combo you expect a piece of filet larger than just 4 ounces, but it was all cooked well and we cleaned our plates, so no real complaints. Our friend, however, was not a fan of the sea bass - which was too bad for a New Year's Eve meal. You'd think the chefs would be spot-on with seasoning, temperature, etc. Sigh. :( Another thing, the dessert menu left much to be desired, so we all went without. It was probably for the better, but I found it strange that nothing looked all that appealing. All in all, we had a good meal but it wasn't anything to rave about. We will make our "nice dinner" reservations much earlier and at a different establishment next time we head out that way.

Great atmosphere! Great service. I had the Salmon which was excellent. Unfortunately, the salmon was accompanied by a piece of crab cake which was the worst I ever had. The bread pudding was also great. Worth going just don't eat the crab cakes!

Wow, this place is utterly terrible!!!! $2 for olives in my martini. $5 for a spinach salad vs. a iceberg wedge. And to make it even better, I tried to substitute potatoes for the rice pilaf on a $36 crab leg dinner and they said no, but I could order as a side. Worst restaurant in Steamboat. Over priced and under delivered. Save your time and money and go elsewhere. MUCH better places in the Boat!

When you walk into Three Peaks, it gives off an air of sophistication and elegance. Everything you'd expect in Steamboat Springs - dark wood, dimly light, "fancy" looking bar area. And then you sit and reality sets in. The decor is nice but the dimly light table now seems too dark and it's hard to see the menu. The bar area was empty. It was a Sunday night so that may have been a contributing factor. Onto the food...the menu has a decent appetizer selection. We had a baked cheese, which was good and was the best part of the meal. Let's talk about dinner. Wait, before we get to dinner, let's talk about the wait staff. Our waitress was okay. Her wine pouring skills, on the other hand, were bad. She dribbled wine on every single pour - six glasses in total. Not an impressive way to start things off. The bread was okay. I was hunger by this point, so I would have eaten any bread put in front of me. Another note about the wait staff is they hovered and practically took your plate without asking, so make sure that you are done if you pause and put your silverware down. Your plate may not be there when you look back. Okay, now dinner. We were told this was an excellent steak and seafood restaurant, so, naturally, I went for a beef option - beef medallions medium rare with mashed potatoes and green beans. My husband ordered the trout with potatoes and some sort of veggie. Neither of us were impressed whatsoever with our meals. My beef medallions were medium rare on the inside but charred for the most part of the outside. The potatoes were mashed smooth (I like a little texture) with little to no flavor and the beans were oily, crisp but oily. My husband said the trout was just okay. Nothing special. The group elected to order desert. We split the hot fudge sundae. Much better than our dinners but nothing out of the ordinary. It was a solid B+ sundae - decent ice cream, hot fudge and whip cream. No one left hungry, but we will not be going back the next time we visit Steamboat.

service excellent. fresh oysters, steak cooked perfect, crab and lobster steamed to perfection. wine list was great. Onion soup was so different and yummy. We took our time and actually tasted the food. Not cheap for sure. this was a dining experience. if you want to complain - go to Applebee's.

Always a great meal, great service, and most importantly the oyster bar. This place is going rate for a good meal in Steamboat- yes it is more expensive but by what 5 dollars a plate. Give me a break. I would not suggest bringing your children to this place, it is great for a date or a night out.

We made reservations three weeks in advance for a party of nine for Christmas Eve. As requested, we were seated right next to the beautiful fireplace in the center of the restaurant. For the second year in a row we enjoyed great service, amazing food, and a cozy festive ambiance. Everyone in our party ordered something different and raved about their meal. For appetizers we shared two large platters of fresh Atlantic oysters, which were absolutely delicious. The pork chop was exquisite and the prime rib was cooked to exact specifications. The servers were attentive but not overbearing, and we were checked on several times by the owner who wanted to make sure the food was well prepared and that we were enjoying ourselves. We highly recommend Three Peaks Grill to anyone visiting Steamboat!

Everyone does it including me you try a restaurant and have so so food, lukewarm service and you don't try it again for a long, long time. That is what happened with Three Peaks last night it appears the owner decided to take matters into his own hands and possibly save a sinking ship whatever the reason it was nice to see an owner overseeing quality control. Ones restaurant cannot truly survive and thrive in our small town without local support so the appreciation night was a welcome chance to see how things are and Three Peaks is no exception. Give it another try you will be glad you did, the food and ambiance are excellent. My fillet was cooked perfectly, the Caesar salad was fresh, the bread warm and while our server appeared distracted at times he meant well and did a pretty good job. A good meal was served I will go back.

Steamboat is not on my list of must go destinations, but every so often it's a necessary evil because of work. The client selected Three Peaks Grill. We dined early and were surprised that they had such tasty happy hour specials. I had the Calamari with a bowl of French Onion soup. The Calamari was in the absolutely best I've ever had category. No wimpy thin pieces, but perfectly flash fried thick strips. Guest had a salmon Caesar $16.75. Food was perfect and the service top notch. We were so early we had the opportunity to watch the staff folding napkins and calibrating with management on the specials. I enjoy watching restaurants gear up. Sort of like a pep talk by the coach before the team hits the field. I appreciate that. Later, the manager was pacing monitoring the action. With such care, I am not understanding the less favorable reviews. The quality, service and ambiance are all there.

Like another reviewer stated, we were trying too hard to like this place. As locals, who really enjoy dining out, we cook at home now more than ever since moving to Steamboat five years ago. We eat at home because we do not like constantly being underwhelmed by poor service, inconsistent food quality and food that is past its date for safe consumption. Just because its "mud season" and "we were closed for a few days" is no excuse. The past two times we ate at Three Peaks Grill it was below what we had experienced in the past. Last time the julienne carrots were past their date and tasted bad and the baked clam dish with bread crumbs on top had so many broken pieces of shell it was inedible for fear of damaging dental work. Last night we stopped in for a couple of quick appetizers but there was nothing quick about it because the waiter never placed our order. After 45 minutes I asked the bus person to check and sure enough - the order was not placed. There must have been 10 diners in all so it was not busy, the guy simply forgot. When the order came, the crab and shrimp cakes tasted GREAT but the cucumber salad (that I typically like quite a bit) served on the side was well past its date for safe consumption (it looked and smelled bad).

Unlike other reviewers, I thought this place was great. Appetizers were good, my wife loved the white balsamic dressing on the wedge salad with crunchy things on it, oysters, calamari, et., all passed the basic test. However, the entrees were even better - somewhat unusual in a time where many restaurants wow you with the apps, then under perform on the main dishes. Thanks to Megan our waitress for giving us a great experience, even though she did get me all psyched up for the Duck which they then ran out of!

Delicious food and excellent service! I am a local and have never tried this before. I had the salmon and it was perfectly cooked! Was there around Valentine's Day and had the chocolate mousse dessert special that was out of this world! Would eat there every night if I could afford it!

Argh, our first trip to Steamboat and we bit on the Web site. Great place, good service, over priced, lousy food. Really? A steak and seafood place and they didn't have thier prime rib or crab? Should have gotten a clue when the place was empty at 6:30 and noboady showed up while we were there. Pleae don't go, help them to recover or roll over. Very, very disapointed.

Went there with a group of six after skiing. Had heard good things about this restaurant, but turned out to be extremely disappointed! The restaurant's interior appearance was very nice, but it stopped there. Looking forward to some special meats which they were out of on a Tuesday evening. Everyone orderd their meals and appetizers. Our male waiter forgot to bring my salad which required reminding him as the others in my party were finishing their appetizers . Selected the 4 oz filet and two jumbo ship with vegetables. Do not ever order this selection! The shrimp were acceptable, but the filet was the size of a silver dollar! I should have sent it back, but didn't. This meal was extremely over priced. After being very disappointed, our bill arrived with an automatic gratuity of approximately 18-20%. At best I would have tipped 5-7% for the mediocre service. This meal and the corresponding dinning experience were definitely not worth the price we paid. I will definitely never go back.

Tried this restaurant based on what I had read about martinis being great and based on their posted menu on website. Neither of the two dishes I was interested in was in the menu, so website menu clearly outdated. Place is overpriced IMO. Martinis were $12+ ... More for premium (like Hendricks - $18 !!). Granted , 5 oz pours.. But I like to have martini early and wine with food, and at 5 oz, you'd be ripe for the local and aggressive PD if driving. My chopped Mediterranean salad was $11. While good, it wasn't a true "chopped" salad. Live piano/string music - which is a nice touch that I generally enjoy - but a bit loud in the bar area. My water glass was chipped on rim and wine glass chipped on base of stem. Wine by glass great as was service at bar, but I won't be back with the other options available in Steamboat.

Ohh what to say about this place. The food was just mediocre, it wasn't really terrible but it did not stand out at all for the price. What really gets my bad review for this place was the attitude of the restaurant. I hate snobby restaurants that say "No substitutions." I get that you think you are an amazing chef and all but really, you are here to serve people...don't you want to make them happy? These meals were not that extravagant but they were still like $45? My sister wanted a $45 entrée which came with rice pilaf, but she does not like rice pilaf so she asked if she could substitute for the orzo which was a side with another entrée of similar price and quality. He went back and asked the chef, the chef looked over at our table and kinda laughed and said it would be a $4 "upcharge" (the first of many times I would hear that word this night). What? Is there really a $4 difference in price between orzo and rice pilaf? And then my (also $45 entrée) came with a salad-choice of cesar or a wedge... I don't really like salads to start and definitely not those kinds. So I asked if I could substitute something else and he was pretty vague about it all and was like yeah you could substitute any of the sides for a little upcharge. He's rattling off a bunch that I wasn't sold on until he said the French onion soup and I stopped and said "Ohh! How much of an upcharge for that?"... "$11"....$11 was the full price of the soup. To me that's not an upcharge or a "substitution" that's just ordering the soup on the side, dude. So that's just a long story to demonstrate that this overly expensive, not that stellar restaurant just in general sucks with their customer service. Don't know if it was the waiter that night or what? But if you want my honest opinion, It was Martin Luther King weekend and we ate at 7pm and the whole place was empty. Normally a restaurant in a ski town on a holiday weekend should be packed but this place wasn't....I wonder why....maybe next time they should be more accommodating to their guests. Oh PS just something to add--It was SO dark in there. It doesn't bother me that much because I am young with good eyes, but my parents had terrible difficulty reading the menu. We had to read almost everything to them.

For the price I was unimpressed with the food. The service was good, but my pork chops were bland and overcooked. Some of the others I was with may have put this at four stars rather than my three, but this place was definitely not a top-notch steakhouse. Better options for the same price (or less) in downtown Steamboat Springs.

What a huge disappointment!!! Slow unfriendly staff, far overpriced menu. Most menu items are mild variations of each other. Food was just ok -- probably worth about half what I paid. Definitely will not recommend or return. This place clearly does not care about repeat business anyway

I never thought I would say that my favorite 2nd favorite seafood dish ever was in Colorado (1st is crab legs from Hugo's Frog Bar), but the Ahi Tuna I had here was my most memorable. I came with with my fiance's family and everyone really enjoyed their meals. It was a nice atmostphere, great service, and I could see coming here for most occassions. I was really surprised. Colorado is beautiful, but I never think of it as being famous for its food. I wasn't expecting this place to be the one to change my mind!
