Great place with friendly staff. The food was good - I had the spinach salad with a side of their yam fries. Lots of fries for the price, and the salad was quite gourmet... not your out-of-the-tub salad. My family had the penne pasta (with chicken, sundried tomatoes, and goat cheese), and grilled snapper over rice. Everything was delicious! They bill a "riverside" location, but it's next to the South Arkansas River, which is nothing more than a creek. I saw some trash down in the creekbed... but the deck area is very pleasant.

We stopped here on a whim after a long day of driving. I can imagine that being able to sit outside earlier in the day on the riverside would have been lovely but it was too cold. I can only comment on my selection but it was amazing - It was a Spinach/Portobello/Jack quesadilla and honestly it was the best quesadilla I've ever had. It was served with pesto mayo and although it sounds like a strange combo it was really delicious. Our waitress was delightful and introduced us to a wine called New Age and it was incredible - it's definitely my new favorite. They also have a great selection on hand of local wines.

One visit, it's decor inside is upscale texas tourist but the patio next to the creek is not to be missed. I figure if you have a stiff drink or two the food won't matter anyway but I don't think it was too bad.

Such a quaint little place. Great food. Really nice staff. And local wines too! The bang bang noodles were the bomb! Buddha rolls were so fresh and tasty. The pizza was delicious too. And for dessert the chocolate mousse cake was to die for. The local wines were a fantastic addition to our meal

Passing through Salida my fiancé and I stopped here for a quick lunch. Both got burgers that were cooked just perfectly. The meat was super fresh and the bun was nice a soft. Fries were just ok. Service was friendly and fast.

Twisted Cork was just 'meh' when I went in for lunch on the patio. The service was extremely slow for seemingly no reason. It took forever for our server to come to the table and the food took forever and a day. I got a chicken sandwich and it was pretty good. My mom ordered a pita sandwich which didn't impress her. The patio is really nice though. I'm not in a big rush to return.

Fresh! Stopped by as the reviews were favorable and they are justified. Sitting on the covered patio, listening to the breeze in the trees one can imagine this being a private home. The fish and chips, coleslaw were crunchy light and spiced just perfectly. The portobello mushroom Sandwich delightful pesto mayonnaise & goat cheese.....yummmmm!! Thanks for the memorable experience.

I ordered the hummus and it was very disappointing. The lemon flavor overpowered the taste of the hummus. My husband ordered the philly cheese sandwich and the au jus that accompanied it was too salty...and both of us love salt, so that's saying a lot. French fries came with the sandwich but minutes before we received the meal, we were told they were out. The substitute was tomato bisque soup, which was also too salty. The service was even worse than the food. Would not recommend this place.

We stopped in at the Twisted Cork Cafe after a long 8 mile hike up to Pass Creek Lake. We were probably a little under dressed as it seems a little more fancier than what comes to mind when I think of a 'Cafe' but none the less they provided superior service. I got the garlic burger and sweet potato fries. It was not as garlicy as I thought it would be, didn't leave with dragon breath, haha. The outdoor seating was great for relaxing after a long morning and before a long drive back to Denver. I look forward to stopping in again in the near future!

Place was Devine! I would not expect the decor and the music in a place like this though. The name gives it that winery feel but the inside gives it that pizzeria feel. To be honest I think if they switched out the tables it would make a huge difference. That's just me being me though. There is outside seating that looks nice but it was raining so we didn't get to enjoy that part. The MSW Zin was amazing. I even bought a bottle. I got the twisted chicken. It was absolutely amazing! It would of been nice to have a little bigger chicken portion to the two sides that come with it for the price you pay ($17) but I was full! Plus it's also GF. Fiancé got the chicken pesto sandwich that he thought was good but really wanted the enchiladas. Unfortunately they were out of them! Service was good for the amount of people that were there and the two servers managing around 20 tables.

Just went back and, as always, had a wonderful meal. Got a gluten free pizza with sun dried tomatoes, artichokes, and avocado and it was delicious. Nice ambiance, good service, and once again a great meal.

The food is fresh and well prepared. The wine was delicious. My husband had the chicken Ceasar salad and I had chili rellenos. Very friendly staff. Our waitress was very friendly, but a bit overworked...as in too many people to serve at once. We will definitely be back!

What a delightful surprise- on our way to Denver we were concerned to stop at an unknown spot with our young daughter but so glad we did. Food was wonderful- homemade chicken soup and bread so perfect for our six year old. And the Mediterranean salad with shrimp was fresh and tasty. My husband had a good looking burger with a good portion of fries to share! We had lovely service. The outside patio was great with the stream running in the background- bonus was the horse and walking path to the water! Love that we didn't have to go to far off the highway and found this gem!

Nice eclectic food and service was quick with a smile. I'll be back! The Twisted Cork has it's own wine from their winery say 30 miles away. I'm just liking Salida as a place to hang out. For a town this size it's got good food. I'd say Twisted Cork is pretty good all things considered. Nice for a date or lunch after a soak at the Hot Springs. Or, just getting a burger if you don't like a lot of food choices.

Very good fish tacos. Local beer and wines. Very nice patio.

My husband and I stopped by this quaint little restaurant for lunch on our road trip, and I was pleasantly surprised. I thought the interior would be nicer but the outside enticed us. We decided to opt for the patio. The patio was very nice, and we sat right by the rivers edge (south Arkansas river) so we could hear the bubbling water. Service was great from being seated to taking our order. The waitress was pleasant and helped us with our order. (1/2 salad vs full size). My husband and I both had the twisted cork salad, a tasty treat. We also ordered the tower of French fries, accompanied by two dipping sauces (1 spicy the other not). All the food tasted great except for my ginger peach iced tea which I returned, and received lemonade instead. I recommend this restaurant for anyone wanting a calm and relaxing lunch.

Service was lacking, the food was bland. We were hoping for something fresh and unusual--unfortunately we were disappointed. It seemed as if the food we ate was previously frozen and either over or under cooked.

Clean food, good vegan/ vegetarian options. Nice variety on the menu. Passed through on a road trip, and it was a great place to recharge. Only weird thing is the dance music playing.

I ate here with my mom and aunt on a recent trip to Colorado. Twisted Cork has an eclectic menu, with Asian, Italian, and traditional American options. We started with a bottle of local Pinot Soleil wine, and it was a pretty good bottle (holding up to some of the bottles I've had from the more 'typical' wine regions like Napa). I actually loved the fact that the restaurant uses local wines - it gave me an opportunity to try a truly good wine from a region I've never tried before! All three of us ordered the same entree - the Bacon Wrapped Filet. Mine came out a perfect medium rare, as did my aunt's. My mom's filet was overcooked, which was little disappointing. On the second try, it was undercooked for her liking (she orders medium and it came out a medium rare), but she decided to give it a try. The restaurant did make good, though, and offered 50% off of that entree. Although the filet was perfectly cooked and juicy, the sides I ordered were a little bit bland. The vegetables were nothing to write home about and slightly under-seasoned (I've always had trouble finishing my vegetables, though!! :)). The potatoes were just roasted potatoes, but they did provide butter and cream for the potatoes, which I definitely used. The service was attentive, and the seating by the river added to the whole experience. All in all, it was a good dining experience, and if I were in the area again, I would probably return and try something off of the Asian section of the menu.

Great local place. They offer an interesting menu of a unique variety of flavorful dishes. Nothing looks boring on the menu. I had the diablo chicken sandwich that was wonderful along with freshly cut fries. In the summer I can imagine it is wonderful to eat outside. The service wasn't quick, but the small place was pretty much maxed out. It's the kind of place that makes it worth stopping by this small town.

Went with a friend and had a good experience. Spicy Penne Pasta was delicious. Service was good. Will eat here again.

We live in Salida and choose this place because when the weather is nice, we can sit outside. It is never very crowded and so we can catch up on news and linger. Food is just OK. Prices have gone up and the Thai chicken lettuce wrap is changed in its presentation every time I go there. Also way less chicken and too many noodles. I am not a sandwich eater so I cannot comment on them although the low carb portabello burger isn't bad. Service is always pleasant.

Lunch today 8-27-10 with four in our party. We asked for outdoor seating and were seated at a table overlooking the stream below. I tried their Mediterranean Noodles lunch special @ $7.99. Ingredients were: penne & rotini pasta, grilled chicken, spinach, sun-dried tomatoes, Kalamata olives, Feta cheese, red onions in a lemon balsamic sauce (it also had a few fresh chopped tomatoes too.) The portion size was ample and the taste was so delicious I cleaned my plate. (I usually end up taking some home.) Also they tell me the dinner portion (though priced more) is quite large and likely could be shared by two. One of my friends had the Raspberry Merlot which she said is very good. All four of us were very pleased with our meals, the service, and the pricing was reasonable. Would definitely come back again.

This is such a lovely place with an outside flagstone patio over looking the river. I enjoyed the soothing sound of the water rushing over rocks. I also enjoyed the wonderful spring special salad - grilled maple glazed ahi tuna over mixed greens topped with bleu cheese and walnuts. Served with a homemade vinaigrette and fresh apple slices. Yum! They offer wines from a local winery. Their menu ranges from gourmet salads and burgers to full on delicious sounding entrees. Their prices are quite resonable; you can eat for less than $10 per person. The service was great as well. This is certainly a great dining choice if you are near salida!

Awesome food for the price! We had lunch and couldn't believe how delicious everything was while still coming in at a grand total of $26 (including tea !) I had coconut curry soup (excellent) and pot stickers (very good.) My husband had Seared Ahi Tuna with Lo Mein Noodles (the tuna was prepared perfectly.) Service was great, too. Will definitely visit again next time we are in Salida. Hopefully, we'll be able to drop by in the summer when the patio is open. It looked like a perfect spot.
