We were on a road trip and were looking for a place to eat later in the evening. We looked up reviews online and decided on Jay's. What a great experience! We knew we were coming in close to closing time, but the staff made us feel warm and welcome regardless. We had the fried green tomatoes, ribs, filet, and green beans, which were all fantastic! Highly recommend! The owners Karen and Jay took the time to talk with us which made the experience even more special. If you are looking for a delicious meal and you are passing by Rifle this is definitely the place to visit!

Horrible. Just abysmal. We sat here for 2 + hours and what a disappointment. My prime rib on special was medium plus instead of rare and bland as can be. Mashed potatoes were from a bag. Dessert from a box. Kobe burger was well vs med-rare. Id give this 0 stars if possible. In all fairness, salad was fresh greens and tasty.

My girlfriend and I were concerned at first by the strip mall feel from the outside. Once inside though we were presently surprised by the inviting staff and best music mix for any steakhouse ever. We rocked out to the 80's and had a stiff drink from the full bar. We both ordered New York stripes, they had great flavor and we're cook to perfect tempature. Salads and sides were good too. It was all topped off with an amazing desert. Both of us we go back every time we are in Rifle. Good job Jay's!!

Our family went to Jay's for dinner tonight and had a bad experience! I ordered the "grilled tenderloin" which wasn't at all tender and had an old taste. I asked for my steak with Garlic & herb butter. When I think herbs I thought of oregano, thyme, etc... They put mint and cilantro?!?! It was horrible. After two bites I couldn't down any more of it. I filled myself up with my side dishes: decent tasting Mac and cheese and soggy fries. My husband ordered the T-bone steak which was chewy and dry. The mash potatoes had weird spices in it and was a little spicy. It didn't have gravy... My daughter ordered off the kids menu and had chicken tenders with fries... I wish I ordered that too. Worst $80 spent and of course we had to tip our server. She was pleasant and it's not her fault our food was shitty. Although it's weird that we left most of our food, didn't want boxes to take it home, and she didn't notice anything was wrong... Whatever, we will not be returning!

Lets start with the tables. Bring a pair of C clamps because trying to cut a steak on a glass table top can be q quite challenging. The chairs have an upscale Bingo hall look to them. Moving on from the decor, the wait staff needs training..rolls should hit the table first without asking along with a bed plate. The rolls came out but people with a salad were lucky to have a place to put their roll. From the there we get to the food. I will say this, if you're going to serve crap food, at least make sure its not cold to luke warm when it arrives. They could make sure to have more prime rib on hand being that out is a steak house. I understand there is only an end cut and one piece left but if I were the chef I would not have let either go out. It should have been 86'd. The sides were sad. Veggies were soggy and tasteless and I've had better Mac and cheese from a Velveeta box. Now I understand this is not in Denver or a major Metri area but at least get the basics right. If you are going to charge close to 30 a plate, can we get some linen napkins? A steakhouse should have a decent wine selection. I didn't even see a wine list expect for the little table tent which was tacky at best. Don't even get me started on the Broncos pint glass for my beer. It's ashame as Rifle could use at least one good upscale establishment

Not a big fan of this place. The food is kind of bland and they do not have a good wine or beer selection.

This is my new favorite restaurant! The food was awesome! We had some fried Mac and cheese bites to start. In the BBQ sauce they were great and my kids really enjoyed them. I got the roasted squash quinoa salad and it was to die for, and portion was a good size. Not to mention the service was fantastic. Very friendly staff. We will definately be back.

The menu at Jay's is filled with so many of my favorite things, I find it hard to choose every time I go there. The steaks are amazing, so are the salads and the soups. They have a great variety for everyone in the family and the price is very reasonable for a steakhouse.

Wow! Amazing food in a beautiful town! Great staff, great service!

The good: Mac n' Cheese had a nice flavor and our waitress was very prompt and courteous. The bad: Ribs require a chainsaw to cut, steak was over-cooked. The coleslaw tasted almost rotten and the honey glazed carrots were missing the honey glaze. While the M&C had a good flavor, it also had the upper layer left from cooking which was rubbery. Not sure if this was an off night being a Sunday but they got just about everything wrong with the food. Certainly not worth the $50+ dinner for two.

Jay's has potential. They have some of the best meat available in the area but the food is "alright" at best. One of my biggest complaints is the inconsistency in presentation and ingredients. The first time I went in, I ordered the Whistle-Stop BLT. It was amazing! It was on a soft yet crusty baguette with fried green tomatoes and thick sliced bacon. From there on out, each time I've ordered, the sandwich was either served with limp, grocery store bacon or with a baguette so hard that I could not bite into it. I looked around and other customers were having difficulty eating the sandwiches served on the same baguette. Plenty of people must have complained enough that they finally changed the roll. Unfortunately the sandwich is now served on a cheap wheat hoagie. The waitstaff look to be untrained friends of the owners or their children so needless to say, the service isn't spectacular. I'm only giving Jay's two stars because Rifle doesn't have much to choose from for eateries lol.

New restaurant with great food. Jay could easily charge $50 for the prime rib alone in Downtown Denver. The Rifle is luckily to have this restaurant.

My husband and I went to dinner at Jay's tonight. It was amazing! You can tell by the menu descriptions these people know what they're doing! I love that the menu has several nods to the South- fried green tomatoes and baked macaroni and cheese! We started our meal with fried green tomatoes. They were delicious! They came out hot and crispy. I looked at their lunch menu and saw that their version of a BLT comes with the fried green tomatoes on it- that will definitely be the next thing I try. Our entrees came with salads. The house salad was beautiful- a mix of lettuces, tomatoes, bean sprouts, cucumbers and red onion. All the dressings are made in-house- I had blue cheese and my husband had bacon vinaigrette (with bacon actually ground up in the dressing!). Hot rolls were also brought to the table. I didn't have one because I wanted to pace myself for the main event, but my husband said they were very good. I ordered a half rack of ribs with a twice baked potato and almond green beans. My green beans were perfect! They were fresh and still a little crispy. The twice baked potato was divine; it has the right balance of cheese, sour cream, scallions and bacon. My ribs could have been a little easier to cut, but they were tender and I loved the bourbon barbecue sauce! My husband had a sirloin with almond green beans and baked macaroni and cheese. He said his steak was perfectly cooked and very tender. I tasted the macaroni and cheese and it was very flavorful. We didn't have room for dessert- but we'll be showing up even hungrier next time! My husband's only suggestion was to expand the beer selection. It was a bit on the boring side. I think if they offered real brewed sweet tea it would be perfect! :) I can't wait to go back!

I have tried Jays three time and all have been terrible. First was the Whistle stop blt sounded awesome, but almost broke my teeth with the terrible baguette. The tomatoes were not fried properly so the breading was saturated with oil. The only thing was a good set of greens. The second time was a burger that had pork in it, this made me nervous to eat as I did not feel the cooks could handle this correctly. Last time was a steak with Aspen prices but taste of McDonalds almost beef. I was so excited to see this place open in Rifle, but they need someone to run it like a boss and not a friend. Staff would never have lasted a day in my restaurant.

I can't review the food because after sitting for 35 minutes without my order being taken I left. This happened while I was sitting next to another table who's waitress served them and went out of her way to keep her back turned to my table the entire time. In all fairness it looked like our waitress had a friend at the bar so I really shouldn't have expected her job to come before social time. The diet coke was excellent though. Perfectly carbonated.

The service was great and the staff was friendly but the food was way to over priced an bland
