Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Came here on a recommendation for a Rita and nothing but misses. We ordered the black orchid Rita and it was so tart it was loaded with tequila but nowhere near worth the 9 bucks. I'm not cheap and get 9 dollar drinks when they are worth it but not here. We also ordered what we thought was queso for dipping chips and it was just melted shredded cheese. The salsa was just water with chili powder. People here might not know real Mexican food but I do and this is not it. If you are from out of town go have a slopper. These people can screw up a tortia in a microwave

I've eaten a lot of Mexican food in my day. And time and time again I'm drawn back to Jorge's. Love the green chili and the homemade chips. Generally I think the food quality is spot on each time I dine. Wait service is sometimes hit or miss. Love the Obama table with pictures of the Prez eating inside the restaurant. Cool touch. Downside is the ambiance (or total lack there of). Sometimes it's hard to have a convo with people at your table (as the restaurant is so loud). Weekend nights are super busy...don't try to get a table if you're in a hurry.

I live in Los Angeles. We have good Mexican food here. I really liked Jorge's Sombrero. And the Margi's aren't too shabby either...
(4)Tony B.
All I have to say is, as much as I hate Pueblo ( I can say it, I grew up there!), I LOVE Jorge's!!! Pork and Avocado Burritos covered with half and half Green Chili and a Chili Relleno!!! This is the one place in Pueblo I can say you have to go to. Drive into town, eat and then LEAVE!!!!
(4)Nathan A.
I've been eating at Jorge's since it was a hole in the wall on Northern Ave. (20 years). Back then I'd go in and be the only gringo in the place. Now it's in a big, upscale location that appeals to the Lexus-driving crowd (which is fine with me!) There are three things that are a 'must' when eating here. One is guacamole. It is the reason that chips exist... to transport guac. Second is green chili. The food will be bland if you don't use it... that's what it's for! Third is a margarita. If you follow these rules, anything on the menu will be fantastic, and you will definitely leave with a huge smile on your face!

I love green chile. I love rellenos. We came here a couple of times when Mi Pueblito around the corner was closed. I don't understand the popularity at all. Its very bland food. Big gloopy plates of fat and carbs and not much flavor. The green chile isn't very fresh tasting. Sadly Mi Pueblito seems permanently closed, but I won't be back to Jorge's.
(2)Jason D.
Great food. The best Mexican food in Pueblo. Service is satisfactory but the food more than makes up for it. Although Mexican food differs dramatically from town to town this is the pinnacle for me.
(5)Forint F.
Very good food - I like it here for breakfast but the green chili is perfect anytime of the day. Try the stuffed sopaipilla if you are looking for something different.
(4)Paige G.
Passed through pueblo and decided to give this place a try. Ordered the house marg which was strong and delicious. As for the food, we of course got chips and salsa. I liked that the salsa came in a bottle so you could refil more yourself. Chips were fresh and warm. As for entres: I got Jorge's burrito with spicy sauce. Overall just okay. Sauce really wasn't spicy and the chicken was a little bland. Not bad though. Also ordered a ghost relleno. The waiter claimed it "set her mouth on fire" --but it was just fine. Great flavor in that though! Overall: friendly staff, cool atmosphere, but food is just alright. Nothing too special.
(3)Dayna D.
Great green chile, but I wish I'd ordered hot instead of half hot/half mild. The half/half was pretty mild. Clean, festive restaurant with cheerful and fast service. I had a combo plate and loved the enchiladas! I'll definitely go to this place again. You have to pay for chips and salsa, but that's the only negative.
(4)Sarang B.
it was the worst mexican food I've ever eaten. Completely flavorless and super gross. Pro: service was warm and welcoming and fast. But enchiladas should NEVER come out 5 minutes after you've ordered it.
(1)Frederick S.
Ummm. Not too sure what all of the hype is about this place. In a town that seems to have Mexican restaurants on almost every corner, you'd think the bar would be set fairly high. A lot of locals recommended this place, and after going there, I can say I have no good idea why. Went here with 3 other people, and all left with the same impression. Boring, incredibly normal, highly "Americanized" Mexican food. Taco Bell is faster, cheaper and tastes about the same. And no...I'm no fan of Taco Bell.
(2)Diane K.
My husband and I stopped here Sunday night, after a long drive from Santa Fe. The service was friendly, place was clean (including the ladies room) and we got a table right away. I ordered the camerones el diablo, he ordered the flautas. We both enjoyed our meals, spicy yet delicious! Topped it off with a couple of sopapillas, brought to the table piping hot with honey. We'll be back!
(4)Mary P.
Jorge's has the best Pueblo style Mexican food in Pueblo. It tastes like what people cook at home here. If you want to taste authentic Pueblo style Mexican food, then this is your place. If you want food that tastes like it came from New Mexico, (totally different styles by the way) then drive 4 hours South. I honestly cannot believe some people gave lower ratings because Jorge's didn't taste like "authentic New Mexican style Mexican food". Well, duh. It is also different than food you would find in Mexico. We serve green chile gravy with pork in it and smother burritos, hamburgers, enchiladas, and more with it. Even Denver's green chile tries to be like Pueblo's and fails. If you like margaritas, Jorge's are the best. If you like chips and salsa, tacos on fried flour tortillas, Pueblo style green chile, giant smothered burritos, and flautas, look no further than Jorge's.
(5)Chris S.
We couldn't wait to try the food here. The front desk staff at the Courtyard swore this was the best New Mexico food in Pueblo. This was the pinnacle, they told us. If it is there is no real, authentic New Mexico food in Pueblo, period. While the service was fair this is some of the most bland, tasteless New Mexican food we've had. And, we've eaten at dozens of true New Mexican restaurants throughout New Mexico to use as barometers. The best part of our meals was the bottled beer, soft drinks and water at this obviously locals only spot. Many locals do love this place, but I'm guessing they haven't had good New Mexican food, either, or this place wouldn't still be in business. The chips, salsa and guacamole is fair. Actually, the guac isn't bad, but the salsas need work. They resemble the tasteless stuff you'd get at a grocery store, rather than homemade restaurant salsa. We had similar feelings with the bowl of pozole. The meat inside was tender, but the broth lacked any flavor. The only thing we could taste was salt. We ordered three stuffed sopapillas, two chicken and one beef. The green chili topping was tasteless and the sopapilla wasn't cooked enough. In fact, when the waitress took my plate (and saw that I barely ate any of it) she came back and mentioned that she'd take 50 percent off because she noticed they didn't cook it enough and she wouldn't have eaten it either. The chicken was bland and the beef version was no different than Taco Bell. Very disappointing. The worst part of the meal was dessert. While the honey tasted great the sopapillas were terrible. Yes, that bad. They were the thickest I've ever seen, undercooked and it only took a single small bite to know that was the only bite we needed. Brutal.

I don't make it to pueblo often ... But when I do - must come here!! Great food and awesome margarita

This is a really good traditional Mexican restaurant. All ingredients are nice and fresh with friendly staff. Will definitely return again when I come to visit from Wash dc.

"Mexican Food" really can be defined and pulled so many different ways here in the USA. What you get in AZ, TX, CA each differ greatly from each other. Let me be clear when I say that this is "South Western Mexican Food" Is there a catch? Yes, its made in Pueblo. For those that never visit Pueblo, we smother all of our Mexican food in green chili. Its a sauce made from green chilies, and often is seasoned with pork. You will find 20-30 different kinds of green chili in Pueblo, CO as it is extremely competitive here. If you are from NM, you already know what I'm talking about when I say the best Mexican food has green chili involved. So why all the hype? If Obama is gonna come through this spot as many before him and after him will stop at Jorges, its not for the "Mexican Food" so much as it is for the "Mexican Food" smothered in a delicious bath of green chili. As I have tried most of the hole in the wall burrito shacks, and the full service restaurants in Pueblo, I have never had better green chili Mexican food than right here. Its DELICIOUS. I take the skeptics from AZ, CA, and TX here when they visit my hometown and win them over every time. Let me close by saying: DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO TRY GREEN CHILI! If you try the green chili though, then this Mexican shop will move to one of your favorite spots in the "Mexican" category. FYI, there are a lot of crappy fake green chili sauces out there. Outside of Pueblo and NM, I have rarely found anything worth braging about. Prove me wrong, I would love to join you if there is a place worth mentioning.
(5)Jason C.
If I were mexican food - I would want to be one of Jorge's Chorizo Tacos!!! I had a combo plate. The bean tostado was just there not good or bad. The chorizo taco was muy bueno! The cheese enchilada was smothered in what else... GREEN CHILI! Over all the meal was very good. The place has a nice charm to it. The waitress was very friendly. I would say get a chorizo taco. Viva Jorge's!
(4)T T.
The pork and avocado burrito was delicious and the green chile (hot) was stellar. The bill was so inexpensive for such delicious food and magnificent service. I did not remember the gentleman's name who waited on us, but he was very VERY good at his job. The restaurant was packed, not an open table. He made sure that it was cleared and thoroughly wiped down. He was quite attentive without being overbearing. I cant wait to return!!! :) The frijoles were velvety and delicious! TT
(5)Michael B.
Get there before 8. If the owner isn't there they always close early. The advertised hours say they serve until 9. Best margaritas in town. the food is solid, good, above average, service is good.
(3)Tony S.
While Jorge's has been recommended by many locals (and Yelp) as THE best Pueblo, it was just OK. I've had better Mexican food. The first time, we both had Huevos Rancheros for breakfast. They eggs were barely yellow and flavorless. The bean were watery and the tortilla fell apart. The salsa was the best part of that meal. Another day, I went back on my own for lunch. I sat at the bar and the servers were VERY polite and helpful. I ordered a couple of burritos, one with Red Chili and the other with Green Chili. Don't bother with the Red. It had hardly any chili flavor, no heat, and tasted of uncooked flour. And, the beef burrito was just that: basic ground meat, again with no flavor. It all tasted straight out of can. On the other hand, the Green Chili was very good, especially with the pork burrito. It tasted homemade and I would order that again. The Green was the reason I almost gave this place 3 stars, but the other items dragged down my opinion. It was just OK Mexican food. But, maybe I ordered the wrong things. Perhaps Obama knows the menu better?
(2)Dotti C.
If you're from Pueblo, Jorge's is great. If you're from El Paso, Texas, then the food is good. The food is different than the Mexican food you can find in El Paso, but it was good. I liked the chorizo taco, but my husband said it was overkill. The red sauce is flavored differently than I'm used to, but I would order the enchiladas again. I'll have to try and get used to the difference and try other things on the menu.
(3)Scott M.
While I was visiting Pueblo I had to get some mexican (just nothing around me that can accurately be called mexican). Everyone pointed to Jorge's. Even President Obama comes here for tacos, so it must be good, right. An authentic place that is coated in bright colors and mexican decor. It is full of locals in casual clothes and that is always reassuring. I had Carnitas - wonderful and perfectly cooked. You get your choice of tortillas (I chose flour). The beans and rice are amazingly good for something so simple. I also had to try the tamale. I used to get the most amazing tamales in Mexicantown in Detroit that I always like to compare. The tamale was OK, but had a little too much sauce, so it was hard to tell how good it might have been. The only small disappointment, but it was small. Top Shelf Margarita - exceptionally good, but enourmous and strong. Drink more than one at your own risk. I finished with the sopaipilla - piping hot, too hot to touch at first, so you know it was just cooked. It was delicious. Tried to steal some of my guests, but was beaten off. Served with honey and the perfect ending of the meal.

Went in on 11/03/12 at about 0500 PM. 3 Top I have never been to the Jorge's in Pueblo, CO before. I have been to the other Jorge'sIn Colorado Springs quite a few times. The Gand Tivo Margaritas are very good. I have told my self in the past I would not ever eat there again due to the fact that the food is not good. The ground beef is better at Taco Bell! Generally the meats are dry and over cooked. In addition I don't ever pay for chips and salsa. Yes the help will bate you in by asking you if you would like chips and salsa but will never tell you that they charge for them. Well the food isn't any better in Pueblo therefore I will never eat there again. I will still go for drinks. Now your thinking this guy doesn't know what he is talking about. Well I'm a CA native and do know good Mexican Food. I have had it all from San Francisco to south of the boarder. I haven't found a 5 star Mexican restaurant in CO yet. For the most part hot salsa in CO in the equivalent of mild in CA. Most of you out there that know Mexican food will agree. The three of us shared samples of the thee meals. Beef and chicken fajitas (only three little tortillas- you have to order extra$ and wait 5 min to get them), beef burrito (loaded $$) and enchiladas (ground beef, chorizo and chicken). The fajitas came out (non sizzli'n, that's BS!) on a plate and that was the best of the 3 meals. The burrito was warm and smothered and very soupy to the point that the tortilla was pasty. The 3 enchiladas were also smothered and soupy. The temperature was warm at best. My advice is to stay far far away from the ground beef. The chicken and chorizo were alright at best. Well that's my soap box moment for you and hope this helps you out. There are plenty of other Mexican restaurants in Pueblo to try so I would skip Jorge's and try another (unless you just want drink a killer Margarita). P.S - Check out there menu,... no prices,.. yes chips and salsa is under the apps. But if you tell the help you are skipping the apps they will still offer the chips and $al$a. jorges-sombrero.com/Menu

Hubby and I were passing through Pueblo and had a craving for fajitas and tacos. After a quick yelp search we decided on Jorge's. It's conveniently located just off the interstate. We ordered the chips and salsa, chicken and beef fajitas, beef taco, chorizo taco, and chicken tostada. Everything was tasty and satisfied our craving. The staff was very attentive and friendly and there was a steady stream of customers the whole time we were there. Prices are good too. If we have a taco craving and are passing through Pueblo, we'll definitely consider stopping here again. Still chingon!
(4)Tim C.
Ok place, food decent, not a wow meal, bland ground beef burrito with green Chile saving it from disgrace, quick service. Owner/manager should replace the 100 watt curly bulbs with 75 or 60 watt bulbs, lighting is too strong, and that'll make a nicer mood, noise level is ok, lively but not obnoxious ( except for the crabby baby).
(3)Tee S.
This place has been around since I was in high school, and had a blast bringing my husband and some of his friends from the East Coast here. Jorge's is a sure bet. The food is spot on. I mean it's not my grandmother's cooking but when eating out for Mexican in Pueblo, it's a sure deal. They also do not overkill and muck up their green chile with flour and ground beef. It's straight up green in hot or mild with pork. We recently had brunch their on our way out of town. My husband and three others had the steak and eggs with green chile. They raved about the meal hence I believe the server about fell over when one of our guests asked for poached eggs. hahaha I had a smothered burrito with chicharron and beans. Something you do not get in Calfornia for sure and a cup of menudo. It was all great and the menudo broth was clear so you could add your own amount of chile. Jorge's is definitely a keeper when visiting Pueblo! And yes .. OBAMA ATE AT JORGES! Eh at least the President makes some great choices in the food arena:)
(4)Thomas D.
Solid Mexican, have been here several times. The chorizo tacos are excellent, I had the number 2. The place is clean the service is good. I plan to return the next time I find myself in Pueblo.
(4)Russ C.
On the road from Colorado mountains to Dallas, we picked Jorge's for lunch based on Yelp reviews. Yelp did not serve us well in this instance. Place was so crowded - we were told there was a 30 minute wait - so we decided to eat at the bar. Service was non-existent. Took us 20 minutes to get iced tea and menus. Then after ordering we waited over 40 minutes for the fish tacos special and chicken fajitas, which in fact never arrived. During that time no one checked on us, asked how we were doing, or gave us the time of day. The wait staff here is the best I've ever seen at ignoring you and avoiding eye contact. After an hour we ended up giving up, paying for the tea and getting back on the road - still hungry. (But we did have a much better experience at our next stop.) The problem here seems to be lack of training, an indifferent staff and the ... slowest ... kitchen ... EVER. If it takes 20 minutes to get an order in and then another 30 to get it out to the table - no wonder there was a long wait. It must take them half a day to turn over a table. Would've given zero stars (for zero service) but Yelp does not allow that option. So hasta la vista Jorge's! We will not see you again.
(1)Joseph P.
Decided to give this place one last chance, my mistake! Terrible service, food had NO flavor, very bland! Ordered beef enchiladas, and the beef was hamburger, and over cooked. Charged for chips and salsa, and the salsa was like tomato paste and chili powder, horrible! MiRanchitos is soooo much better!
(1)Nadia C.
Let's see... Got a catering order, was given a certain price and the owners son was so angry over having to give on .25 a taco, he proceeded to have a tantrum in the kitchen. F- this and F-that. What did the manager say when I called him about the awful service and tantrum? "That's the owners son... We can't tell him anything." Family restaurant indeed.
(1)Wendi C.
Very good mexican. I had the beef flautas and hubby had the combo plate. His green chile was very good. The hot wasn't too hot to eat. I got mild for my plate and it was like water so go for the hot! Other than that, service was quick and friendly. I'd def go back if ever in town!
(4)Heather P.
I am from out of town and just tried this place and it was fantastic. I ordered it to go, it was ready in 10 minutes, excellent portions, authentic taste, and very kind service. I think place was really good and I would definitely recommend it versus a lot of other crappy Mexican food places it seems around here.
(3)Robert M.
Ok, I don't get a lot of these reviews. I'm from Virginia, so I don't have a lot of experience with authentic Mexican restaurants. I have a ton of experience with east coast spots. In comparison with those, this doesn't hold up. The food was just so so with a LOT of gloopy stuff on it. My son had the nachos and the meat wasn't fully ground up. My wife had an enchilada and didn't think it was special. I had the Combination Plate. It was a LOT of food but I wanted to sample it all. The tortillas were above average, but I was sorely disappointed with the Tamale. The salsa was definitely good, but I was woefully uninspired. Waiter was very polite and nice, but he was much more interested in chatting with his fellow employees and we rarely saw him in action. Do yourself a favor, Yelp one of the dozens of other local spots and try one of them out.
(2)Liz D.
Gotta give this one 3 stars. DH and I stopped in for a drink and dinner. Skinny marg was OK, his beers were good. We ate at bar - bartender not super friendly, but warmed up over time. My meal wasn't great. Based on prior reviews I ordered a burrito -- extra hot. I got a burrito in what seemed to be tortilla soup. Bartender brought me "green chile" to thicken it, but it was basically just a roux. For those of you who don't cook, that's flour and some kind of fat mixed together. I should have gone with the fish tacos the bartender recommended. They removed the burrito from the bill, and the fish tacos were excellent, but by then I wasn't really hungry. DH did enjoy his chicken tacos, so I guess overall the food is OK and I was just unlucky.
(3)Larisa P.
Being from Texas, I'm picky about good Mexican food and let me tell you.. this place is wonderful. The top of the line margarita is... eye popping. I love the salsa and steak fajita;s were seasoned just the way I like'em. Will be going back!
(5)Cathy G.
The waitress did not give us tortillas that came with our meals, no drink refills, never did receive our side of refried beans that we were charged for, very poor service, and mediocre food, pueblo has many other Mexican food choices don't go here!
(2)Steve C.
Not bad but sort of a mixed bag depending on what you order. Huevos Rancheros were 3 star. Roberto's Burrito was 4 star. Combo Plate was a mix of 2 and 3 star choices. The Cheese Enchilada was solid as was the tamale but the beef taco was lame and the Tostada was just a little better. Their Green Chili is one of the best things on the menu and I hear the Pork and Avocado Burrito is very good as well. Just didn't get to try it. The service is friendly and fast. The value for the money is high as long as you skip the alcohol but what fun would that be. I don't like paying for chips and salsa though, even when they are good.....and these are. Overall it's a good place to try if you are passing through Pueblo on I25 but I wouldn't make a special trip.
(3)Eric N.
Read lots of positive review, and wanted to try this while visiting from out of town. The place has friendly waitstaff, and a bright/casual atmosphere. I had the chips and salsa for an appy. The chips were nothing special, and I've had better ones from a store bought bag. The salsa was cold(stored in a fridge), and in a squeeze bottle. NOT a good way to serve salsa. For the main dish, I had the Combination plate, which consisted of cheese encilada, tostada, chorizo taco, beans, rice and green chile sauce. It also came with a soapapilla for desert. The green chile was the least tasty that I've had in Pueblo, and the remainder of the food was very bland. I had specified "medium" for the heat level, but the spice level was also lacking. There was a lot of food, but it was largely lacking in flavor. Overall, quite the disappointment.

When they are busy do not expect your food to arrive in a timely manner. We arrived on a Wednesday evening and assumed the continual flow of hungry people waiting in line, and the gorgeously decorated ambiance was indicative of a the delights awaiting our taste buds. We were seated, given drinks, but then a series of disappointments ensued. Our first basket of DELICIOUS CHIPS arrived in a plastic basket lined with paper, and accompanied by two empty styrofoam bowls and a squirt bottle of salsa. After the seven of us plowed ravenously through the chips, it would be a long wait for more, peppered with three requests for a replacement basket of chips. Our enthusiasm and anticipation for our dinner soon dissolved into disappointment as we observed tables being served dinner around us. Those tables who had ordered at the same time and others who had ordered after, were enjoying their dinners, while we still waited for more chips. Another basket made its way to our table. We completed that one too. A stray waitress came over suddenly with another basket of chips. By then, we had been waiting for our order 55 minutes prompting one us to snap at the waitress that we would rather have our food than another basket of chips! When the order did finally come to our table, it was delivered in 3-5 minute shifts. One diner at our table had almost consumed her whole meal, by the time the last plate was delivered. Two of the meals came incorrectly, but considering the experience thus far, we left it alone. I ordered the Cameron Ranchero. It was the worst tasting version of this dish I've ever ordered. The shrimp was cold and tasted of mud. Others at the table enjoyed their meals, including stuffed sopapillas and the pork avocado burrito. So the moral of the story, make a reservation, make sure you have plenty of time, and stay away from the shrimp. Positives: It's a great looking restaurant and they have baked goods such as Biscochitos.
(2)Christy R.
The food was fine, but the margaritas were outstanding! I got a frozen peach margarita and it was the best I've ever had (probably because I couldn't taste even a hint of tequila). They also have a great patio. It was closed when I was there due to rain, but I look forward to happy hour on the patio this summer!
(4)Eric G.
Perhaps the best restaurant guacamole I've ever had. We made a meal out of chips and guac.
(4)Jason H.
Pretty good Mexican food, good salsa and chops, and the tacos were tasty and big :)
(4)Scott M.
OK, the spicy green on a chili relleno. Wow.
(5)lupe h.
We love this Place , We drive 3.5 hours to eat here , the food is D'lish and the Grand Tivo Margaritas are the Best in Colorado!!!
(5)Cass D.
My boyfriend is from California. I am originally from Arizona. We both agreed after our experience at this place that it was in fact THE WORST Mexican food either of us have ever had. First of all, this restaurant smelled like farts. Aside from the fact that there was quite a bit of Obama reminders around the place, that was in fact not the most disturbing part of our visit. The beans... could be most compared to drywall spackle. It's a good thing they were adamant about bringing the drinks until our food finally arrived, because if they hadn't we'd have never been able to choke down the "bean and cheese dip" that was our appetizer. I think my first clue tip off this was headed down hill was the fact that they charge for chips and salsa? WTF? Yes, $4 for some chips and salsa and you'd have gotten better quality from Tostitos. Once my carne asada tacos arrived, I was appalled that the people of Pueblo were delusional enough to call this place 'the best Mexican in Pueblo' for 25 years. They were dry. Very dry. We were praying for a drink, but alas, no relief until the check was brought to our table. Well okay even after all that I may have been willing to go back had I not tried my boyfriend's tacos that were equally as dried out, at which point I really lost the will to give this place the benefit of the doubt. I was in such a hurry to get out of the gassy atmosphere; I actually opted to forgo a trip to the restroom before leaving in order to relieve my bladder. I want my money back.
(1)Brenna S.
Hands down some of the best Mexican food in ALL of Colorado! Also, some of the best margaritas! So good, even Obama and his family have graced Jorge's with their presence... check the pictures at the President's table for proof!
(5)Nancy N.
My fiance and I dine out quite a bit, so after numerous times of hearing about this place we decided to give it a shot. We've made several attempts to go here and every time it was packed to the gills so finally being able to get a table, we had high hopes for this place. I studied the menu and saw several dishes that we wanted to try so we ordered a feast for two, more so for four it seemed like. But the tongue taco (which I absolutely love, when done right) was just simply boiled, chopped and thrown in a tortilla. There was NO salt or spices and the outer skin that has the taste buds weren't removed, so you can imagine how gnarly that was. The service was terrible, it would take several attempts to be able to get someone's attention. I just don't understand the hype of this place, I think King Taco a small hole in the wall has the BEST tacos in town, just because they use spices and seasonings to their meat. I just prefer the autheticity of Mexican food that is bold and flavorful, NOT BLAND and flavorless....

Let's start with the bad and work our way to the good. when you first sit down after the hostess takes your drink order, she asks if you want an appetizer, meaning chips and salsa. This is probably the first and only Mexican restauraunt that I've ever been to that charges for chips and salsa! It is good salsa, though. Spicy and addictive. This place is known for their margaritas, so you'd be smart to at least try one. Im not sure if any member of the waitstaff knows how to smile or has ever even attempted at making small talk with me. The portions are big and the food is pretty good. It's always more than I can eat in one sitting. I love that they have churros on the menu, even though I have had better, they serve them with vanilla ice cream and I love that. Pueblo is full of Mexican restaurants, but I visit Jorge's regularly, so Im hoping soon enough one of the waitresses will recognize me and start to be nice.

I was in Pueblo Saturday and Yelped authentic Mexican food. Jorge's had good reviews and I opted to check it out. I loved the ambiance and was seated promptly. I waited for my complimentary chips and salsa and the menu. Menu came but not the chips, hmmmm. Found out you had to pay for the chips, which surprised me based on their prices. I chose the 3 taco plate with a choice of three meats, beef, chicken, and chorizo. Unfortunately, I found out that, if I wanted one of each, beef, chicken, and chorizo, I had to pay an extra $1.25 each??? What a shock! Thought all the meat was located in the same kitchen! I opted for the chicken and chorizo. Anyway, the tacos came in a timely manner and the service was just fine. The tacos were good though they didn't have that authentic Mexican flavor. Honestly, they reminded me of the tacos we make at home. Also, I wouldn't order the chorizo again as it just didn't appeal to me. The included rice was good. Overall, lunch was good, service was good, ambiance was great, although, a bit over-priced for my liking and lacking that authentic Mexican flavor I was hoping for. Next time I'm in Pueblo, I'll check out another place and submit a review.
