I drive 35 minutes for the huge pieces of homemade pie. I needn't say more.

We were traveling from Ouray to Denver via Colorado Springs and thought we would stop in for the lunch buffet on a Sunday afternoon around 1 pm. What a $23.00 mistake. You would think it would be fresh. It was disgusting! The desserts were dried out and unrecognizable, the fried chicken tasted as if it were fried the day or week before and refried. It was cold and dried out. The geen beans had a greasy film and smelled like old smoked ham. The milk gravy was transparent. Even the cook came out and agreed with another customer how thin it looked. The only good thing served were the rolls and they were cold. Do yourself a big favor and DO NOT eat at this dump. We noticed three people sitting around the front entrance by the register. They and the wait staff need to clean up the place and work on serving fresh food, instead of sitting around talking.

This place is so cute. 80's country. The burgers are really good and hand-formed, not frozen. Good pie, although the cherry pie filling came from a can, not fresh. Good service. It feels like eating at someone's home. I do wish that they wouldn't shut the buffet down before closing. It feels like being rushed out.

Unlike the review from 2011, we did not eat anything that appeared or tasted homemade. We did order the buffet -it was awful. The food appeared to have been sitting out for days on end. The only leafy greens were the standard iceberg lettuce mix. That was brown, wilted and dry. Many of the salad bar items were old, old dried out red onions, old -very old cucumbers. The popcorn shrimp and all the items on the buffet appeared to have originated from the Sysco food truck. The spaghetti tasted like it came from a large Chef Boyardee can, sweet meatballs, sweet sauce, and sweet ketchup on the soggy-cardboard like meatloaf. The rolls that were provided tasted like the standard grocery store sweet rolls. It reminded me of why I hated high school cafeterias in high school. The pie was homemade. it was not homemade that day. It was tart, bland and the ice-cream was tasteless. It smelled musty in the back room, I am not sure if that was due to previous flood damage, it is actually one of the only 'damp' feeling places I have eaten at in Colorado, where it is normally dry. We did see other food that was ordered off the menu, it did look better. Do not have the buffet, order off the menu.

This is a little country restaurant out in the middle of BFE. All of the food, including an amazing selection of pies, is made from scratch. They have an all you can eat lunch buffet with all the country favorites. We ordered off the regular menu though. I had a French Dip sandwich that was the best I have ever had. I think they bake their own rolls and the roast beef was definitely home made. My friend had the Hawaiian Burger, she said it was fantastic. We shared a slice of Apple Pie that was unreal.
