Kimono is very friendly and very warm as stated in Brandon W.'s review....plus the service was great! My husband and I love sushi and are from southern California.....we used to eat sushi at least once a week and love the stuff! I'm giving it three stars because of a few things....service being what pushed it into the three stars. We sat ate the sushi bar--which only has about 8 seats, and started w/ a Kimono Roll--which is a roll wrapped in cucumber w/ crab, salmon, tuna & avocado in the middle---it was decent, and tasty. Next we both had a spicy scallop hand roll----this was the best thing we ate! If the seaweed wrapper would have been fresher, it would have been even better. The scallops were pretty large and perfectly season w/ the right about of spicy....YUM!! We tried the calamari roll....pass on this one if you go....chewy calamari & not much flavor. The rainbow roll was odd---it came w/ slices of LIME in between each piece of sushi---it gave the roll a very odd flavor. ASK FOR NO LIME!! Trust me. Overall the fish was better than expected....w/ the tuna being just a bit mushy for my taste. I'd surely try this place again....after all, going to a sushi bar on a Tuesday isn't really the best test of a restaurant. Sushi Wave is much better and worth the extra drive........since the prices were comparable.

I am so sad to see they have been taken over by another Chinese/Asian catch-all restaurant. This was my favorite authentic Japanese restaurant in Parker :(

I too was surprised to see the change of ownership. Was a bit leery at first but we ended up ordering the usual 6 or so rolls at lunch time. Tuna Roll, SalmonCali, Dragon Roll, Red Snapper, Yellowtail, Shrimp Tempura roll and Salmon roll. Actually all were good and tasted fresh and almost looked the same as the previous chef made. We like less rice and more other stuff and these looked almost like those of the past. This new owner/chef also owns Joy Sushi across from Sams Club in Lone Tree. I found all this out by talking to the waiter who came back to us several times asking if things were okay and if they were different than before and so on. I also saw him ask other people if things were okay. We really liked the previous owners and knew most of their names but we will be back here and give these new owners a chance. The waiter said they are using the old menu but will be making changes to it and also the lunch specials. Our lunch tab was the same price as we always paid as far as we know.

Sushi is fresh, nice decor, friendly staff. BUT... The music is too loud. The last two times I was there, I could barely hear myself think. It was one Adele song after another. Really? I complained at both visits, but it took a while for the waiter to finally turn the volume down just a bit. Unfortunately, when I go back to Kimono and the music is too loud, I won't dine there again.

I thought the food was really great. The service was rather slow though. It was hard to get drink refills or get our bill. But I would return because the food was good.

A solid and quick place to eat for lunch or dinner. Nice staff and decent selection of sashimi and sushi. Cold beers as well.

We visited for the first time today, we were greeted & sat immediately. We ordered the chicken gyoza, beef spare ribs, and the 3 roll lunch. The roll orders were really small but good so for $9.95 I guess I cant complain. The chicken gyoza was good especially with the sauce that came with (Teriyaki I believe). The only thing we didn't enjoy was the spare ribs, I don't know if its suppose to be chewy and fatty but we wont order that dish again

Incredibly small portions. I'm from California, I've been eating sushi for over 25 years and never have I seen such stingy portions. The waitstaff is not very attentive. It's too bad because the sushi is really good, but we spent A LOT of money and we all left hungry. Epic Fail. Never going back.

Incredible lunch deals, 3 rolls for $9.95?? That's unheard of. Between 2 adults and a child, we split 9 rolls, were totally full walking out paying $15 bucks a piece plus tip. Sushi rolls were good, they are on the small side but the ingredients were fresh. The miso soup is very good, the salad ok. Will be back to try dinner!

Another local Parker spot that my husband I frequent. We've never had anything other than the sushi here and have enjoyed it.

New Owners (Summer 2013): I had to drop my rating and change the below review. This place has new owners. The rolls are MUCH smaller. Some of the ingredients are now skimped on- tiniest smears of avocado instead of chunks. We order a lot and EVERY roll had an enormous piece of cucumber and less fish. The circumference is smaller and the rolls are shorter. This isn't my imagination, we ordered what we usually do and it didn't come close to filling the platter. The salmon skin roll that was my favorite now has a bunch of cheap fillers and a small scrap of salmon skin, you hardly taste it- when they used to be mainly salmon skin. We used to eat here twice a month or more, now we will have to find a new place. So sad, to save a few cents on their sushi rolls they will lose their good customers. Old Owners: First, you must adjust your sushi taste buds- this is Parker, Colorado. The prices are incredibly low. the sushi is fresh. The tuna, salmon, spicy or regular, rolls are firm and fresh and of a solid piece and not chopped up mush like some other local sushi places. The sushi is cool to the touch and the rice is cooked properly. The rolls are consistently formed and the don't fall apart when you try and eat them. The service is a little slow, you can't come in when you are in a hurry. The waitstaff can be a little inattentive- not removing used dishes or refilling tea unless you ask. The decor is tired and doesn't feel squeaky clean. Compared to other local sushi places around here- this is the best.

Probably one the top 2 sushi places in town. The sashimi is always fresh tasting and genorously sliced. The rolls are proportioned well with ingredients to rice. For the non-sushi eaters, the tempura is crispy and lightly battered, teriyaki sauce is flavorful and the udon soup bowls are hearty. All reasonably priced. We have frequented many times since it opened and have never been disappointed.
(4)Brandon W.
Great sushi without the attitude. We have been coming here since they first opened. The place is family owned and operated, always friendly and warm. The sushi is great with plenty of other items on the menu for non-sushi fans. Two items you have to try are the Monkey Brain (not actual monkey brain) and the Amigo Roll. Prices are great and service is always friendly, can sometimes be a little slow on busy weekends but it is worth the wait.
(4)Jason D.
I think the staff here is borderline retarded. The food was ok.
(3)Bridget M.
Ok I have a new favorite place to eat sushi in Parker! Their lunch deal is great! 3 rolls for $10.95 I think. Also with lunch and dinner you always get a salad and miso soup! That put them over the edge. Always fresh and tasty. Love this place just hope it stays in business cause there's never anyone in there.
(5)Vanessa H.
Great food, great price and wonderful atmosphere! We come here often! The service is on point sushi is perfect and their deserts make your mouth water!! You should definitely come and enjoy all they have to offer!! YUM!
(5)Shane C.
Good place. Went there for lunch, had the 3 roll special, which included soup and salad, for $9.99. The fish tasted fresh and wasn't skimpy and the nori wasn't all chewy like some cheap places have it.
(4)Carrie G.
Great food, decent prices, nice family-owned business
(5)Marie S.
Good sushi and gyoza! When I need a sushi fix, this is where I go!
(5)Allen M.
I have made it a point to visit every sushi joint in the Denver area, and this one is my favorite. Small, warm atmosphere, family owned, and the food happens to be delicious. I get a different roll every time I go, and I have never been disappointed. This is one of those places that I pray stays in business for as long as I'm around here.

If you truly believe Kimono has excellent sushi, then you must be those people who believe the Chinese buffet or grocery store bought (e.g., Costco) sushi rolls are good and can be even called sushi... That's just an insult to the art of sushi-making. Basically, the Korean owners should have sticked to making their own Korean food, instead of trying to make Japanese food and hence, more money. The tempura batter is very bad, the tempura itself is fried in low grade oil. The sushi is the same qualify you'd find at a Chinese buffet (won't be surprised if they use same supplier).

Great food. Will be one of our favorite restaurants!

We have been going here since we moved to Parker a year and a half ago. Since then this place has changed names/owners at least twice. After the first change the quality went down quite noticeably, but so did the price, so we considered this our cheap take the kids Sushi spot. It just recently changed again and is now called Mr Buddha. The quality is now awful and the prices are higher than they have ever been. They have also expanded the menu to include a large selection of Chinese dishes. We haven't tried the Chinese food yet, but we will never order sushi here again. So sad, we really wish we had a quality Sushi spot in Parker.

My wife and I will give kimono 4 stars for the food, but definitely not for the service. The time we went in there was no one else in the restaurant and the older lady serving acting as though it was an imposition for us to be in her restaurant. We got the food fairly quickly and everything tasted very good, it was just the service that neither of us were happy with.

I came here on a whim for lunch one day and I wanted so badly to love this place but it just fell short on so many levels. It's not that anything was super bad, just mediocre and blase'. On the other hand the prices are so low at lunch that you have to consider the value. So the Pros: Clean place, decent atmosphere, waitress was friendly, prices are very low at lunch. The Cons: The portions are tiny, the rice is not very well cooked, the fish itself is mediocre and the old man who seated me was borderline rude (no eye contact, no hello, no nothing) and the location is dreary (dying strip mall, no maintenance in years on property...). So it's not a recommended sushi place from my point of view, but if you're in for a value lunch (3 rolls for $10) then you'll be happy.

We wanted Sushi badly and drove by this little spot one of the off times I'm in Parker for dinner. We were greeted and seated immediately. And the server came around and brought hot tea that I ordered. The KGB roll was flavorful but could of been a little bigger and packed with more fish and less rice. The Dragon roll was the highlight of the meal in my eyes. And no I'm not getting married but ordered the Honeymoon Roll. AND WOW is all I can say. When my tea was getting low they brought more water and then another bag so it didn't get weak. I will be back time and time again.

I have been coming here on and off for years I've always found them to be fast friendly good sushi and I just found out they deliver!! Huge bonus in my book!!
(5)Fred E.
This is our Favorite sushi restaurant- great service and great food! Take the waitress' recommendations! First time here she suggested two rolls, neither of which we would have picked on our own, and they were awesome. The sunshine roll has now become a treat I look forward to all week long. Had some Unagi that was the most succulent I've ever had last time in, that's going on my standard order from now on. Do yourself a favor, stop in and don't just order the specials, while they are high-quality and great-value, the specialty rolls are pure goodness made by a true artist!

You know what totally blows? When you have a good meal and you actually say more than once "this place is good!" and then you get your bill and on the way home you say more than once "It was ok...just not worth the money" LAME! The food was good. The monkey brains were strange but yummy and made out of everything I love. The rolls were yummy and creative. The inside doesn't compare to places like Hapa and Mikuni but for a strip mall next to Big Lots it's pretty nice! The staff were nice and service was good. The rolls weren't Junz quality but they were still better than most strip mall sushi spots. But man oh man did the joy end when I got my bill. We eat a lot of sushi. I wont pretend our bill isn't ALWAYS high but comparatively we spent more here than we would at Junz for a little less sushi than we would have gotten at Junz. As far as I am concerned if the rolls are higher quality and larger at one place over another I don't see a reason to go to the lesser unless their is a good price cut. In this case I don't see a reason to come back unless Junz down the street is on fire.

After the relatively recent management change this place improved considerably quality and variety. The sushi is excellent.
(5)Alex K.
The food is delicious. However I'm disappointed that they no longer have kimchi. I know they are now a japanese restaurant, but before new management came in I really enjoyed the bulgogi with kimchi. 4 stars for excellent food. One star off for not offering a dish I love anymore.
(4)Billy F.
one of my favorites in Parker CO...the first time we went i got the Bulgogi while the family ate sushi...I wondered if they had any Kimchi in the back (not on the menu) so i asked and they happly gave me some home made kimchi that was out of this world. We go at least once every other week!

Sadly won't be going back again. We have considered this place to be our hidden gem in Parker and typically go once a month. We always have found it to have very good and friendly service with good sushi at a reasonable price. We went back tonight to discover they changed ownership 2 weeks ago and we were extremely disappointed. Here's why: #1: the friendly, family owned atmosphere is gone. Our server was rude and inattentive. I shouldn't really have to ask 3 times for water when there are only 3 occupied tables in the place. He even argued with me when I had to ask for a new spoon because the handle of mine had bleach all over it that hadn't been properly rinsed off. #2: prices have increased. They now charge for your bowl of miso soup before your sushi. Seriously people, talk about cutting corners. Also, we have never spent more than $50 here before for 2 of us (like I said, it WAS a hidden gem!) Same order as usual tonight, but tonight the total was $80. Yes, that would be a normal sushi dinner for 2 price anywhere in Denver, but this is a sushi joint in Parker. Not worth it. Looks like we will be searching for a local sushi place to frequent, because our Kimono days are over. I suggest you drive down the street to Junz or into Denver and skip this place.

Changed ownership. The fish was fresh but the wait staff was below average and the prices were dramatically raised

We went to Kimono a few times before the new owners took over. It was the coupon for 20% off that brought us back. The coupon was collected right away. The food was good. But when the bill came, the host told us we had purchased the "dinner specials" which were not honored by the coupon, so we did not get the 20% off. I looked at their website site for the similar coupon the host told us about. That coupon said nothing about dinner specials, but it did mention lunch specials and happy hour drinks. When we came home and found the coupon for their other restaurant, it only mentioned that lunch specials happy hour drinks were excluded from the 20% off. Dinner specials were not mentioned. Again, the food was good. But staff was obviously a bit clueless about good customer service.

Good sushi! Had ca rolls, kappa, shrimp tempura & chicken teriyaki rolls. All were yummy!!! So happy to of found a place with good fresh food& service!!
(4)Amy R.
Kimono has a killer lunch deal. I've been a few times but only for the lunch special. The sushi is decent, not as good as Junz or as bad as Yutaka in town. I haven't been in a few months so I don't remember the particulars but unless you're a very very discriminating sushi connoisseur, you should be happy with their quality and service.
(3)Alfonso G.
We have been coming her for years and although it recently has new owners they have been great! We miss the old owners but the fish is fresher! I don't mind paying a little more for better quality fish.
