Did I walk into a time machine when I entered Cafe Monet? I could have been in any mediocre suburban restaurant in the 70s. Thought I'd check it out for lunch one day on my own. It's dark and I mistakenly entered through the bar entrance which put me in a strange place in the dining room, bypassing the hostess stand completely. I was seated and looked around. Tchotchkes galore that a grandmother would love. Decent-sized crowd but everyone was 70 years old or older. Did the senior center have a field trip? The waiter(a curmudgeon-y man) took my order(he assumed I was having the lunch special) and I was brought a soup that was just plopped down. Had to ask what it was and the woman who brought it seemed pissed that I asked. The salad was straight out of the 70s...basic, basic stuff. Had the sole (which I normally love) but this was served plain with plain rice. Finished less than half and paid the bill. Boring as can be.

After hitting up Johnny's, Dominos, and even the Yelp-defiled Volcanes in the ugliest strip mall this side of Detroit, I've always noticed a solid trickle of people in/out of Cafe Monet (many speaking European languages!). Went to lunch yesterday with my wife and daughter and had prompt, smiling service from our waitress and the owner who delivered a loaf of hot, crusty French bread. A vibrant creamy chicken noodle soup followed (which sent me right back to my Polish grandmother's kitchen) along with a fresh, basic salad. We opted for the Chicken Scampi and Sirloin special of the day. Both were simply enjoyable--nothing that would knock the socks off Buddha, but clearly were honest concoctions. The real kicker is that we only finished off one plate and had a large take-home box. Not until dinner did we realize that we left it behind. I called to ask if by chance they had held onto it and the owner said they held it for four hours and had just tossed it away. Oh well. She then asked for us to come back and that she wanted to make us a new plate. I declined, but she insisted. Well, we got there and she had made the entire meal again, lovingly wrapped up with hot bread, cold salad, & soup. That is love--that kinda of stuff doesn't happen at your most-favored chain proprietors. Support local.

Slow is an understatement. A leisurely lunch can still include polite service. We were literally ignored and opted to walk out (15 minutes is a long time to sit wihout any acknowledgment, welcoming smile, or ability to even submit our order). THERE IS NO WAITSTAFF. The only waiter is the curmudgeonly owner, his wife cooks in the kitchen. Literally no other staff was there when we went at lunch. I would not walk out of a restaurant just for slowness; the rude treatment by the very owners of their own business made this my first and last visit there.

My husband and I went here on date night because of the reviews - Cafe Monet did not disappoint. Charming place, fantastic food (hubby had the salmon, I had the lamb shank... delish!). And that peppy 83 year old waiter mentioned in other reviews, really is great. He definitely had a pep in his step and told great jokes. We will be back :)

In search of French cuisine to take the Beautiful Ms. D to eat prior to our seeing Les Mis, I found Cafe Monet as being relatively convenient to our house. Contrary to other reviewers, I thought the interior to be warm and comforting. The food, I had the duck in apricot and brandy sauce and the Beautiful Ms. D had the boeuf bourguignon, was quite tasty, and not swimming in salt. Both were served beautifully plated with candied baby carrots rice and au gratin potatoes. Dinners were preceded by a standard salad, romaine though, and not that crappy iceberg that so many places try to serve. We also were served a delicious lemon chicken rice soup. For dessert, we had the creme caramel and a German chocolate cake. The cake was made elsewhere, and was average. The creme caramel was good, but not overwhelmingly so. They were out of the Chocolate mousse, something that really surprised me for a French restaurant on a Friday night. Overall, a good experience and delightful food. This review should be 3.5 stars, but I rounded up.

While I was in town, I went to Cafe Monet while because it was recommended by a friend that is from the area. It was one of the best meals I have had in a while. As soon as you walk through the front door it is cozy and homey. I got the shrimp scampi and my fiance got 1 of many veal dishes and we both polished our plates off. I would highly recommend this place if you simply want good food and a lot of it.

Amazing family run country French restaurant, he couple are so cute and wow can she cook! The place some snobs have complained about the décor and want a chain restaurant speed but its like eating at your grandparents place in ambiance and the food. We are always welcomed with a big smile and hug. Have ordered to go and they pack everyting with care and add all the good stuff. One of the best family run restaurants in Parker. A cant miss.

The food is really wonderful. However our waiter was horrible. We waited 1 hour before our salads were delivered. We think our waiter neglected to turn in our order and when it was eventually turned in the kitchen was slammed. It was obvious that the chef wished to deliver a great meal, difficult under the above circumstance.

Although I have not eaten here in a while the food was always excellent - especially considering it is hard finding a good French style place in the Denver area at all let alone in the suburbs. I am disappointed at the number of reviews here that rated very low because of slow service. This is a family run spot with very reasonable prices and excellent food. If you want speed try Olive Garden or its French equivalent if there is one.

A quaint mom and pop style french restaurant. It's not fast and it is a little old fashioned, but I consider that a plus!!! We've had some really wonderful meals there. Very home cooked French country style. The service is warm and friendly and you feel like a regular. But, don't go in for a quick meal. Order a bottle of wine and relax for once, you'll be glad that you did.

We stumbled upon Cafe Monet for dinner last week (week night) and had a lovely experience. Our waitress was GREAT! (she was younger than us and probably only one in restaurant who was). Majority of dinner patrons were retirees who seemed to be locals. EVERYTHING is homemade at this Cafe -- including the salad dressings. If you think you'd like HOMEMADE Country French food (w/ a few Italian dishes on the menu too) give this place a try. I had the trout and it was TASTY; the homemade soup was also deliscious. (we were told by locals that lunch prices are VERY reasonable and had similar portions). Prices are not cheap but our relaxing tasty European experience was worth every penny (2 people, no alcohol, total tab w/ tip was $47)

I was in the area for business and stayed the weekend to hang out with some family. My uncle said that there was a great little restaurant that I had to try, so he took me to Cafe Monet. We went for dinner last Saturday night and I was blown away. I live in Los Angeles, home to some of the best restaurants in the world. Let me tell you, this little place could compete with all of them. I would describe the menu as Country French and Italian. My uncle had a veal plate and I had the special of the evening: a scallops and shrimp dish. Both were amazing. Even more amazing were the prices. Each was less than $20 and included soup and salad. We also shared a bottle of red wine. The staff was friendly and the service was surprisingly quick for a Saturday night. I would definitely recommend this place to anybody who is looking for something authentic. It's a refreshing change from all of the chain restaurants in the area. I wish there was one in LA.

Cafe Monet has a tremendous dining experience in store for you. French-Mediterranean cuisine is probably the way I would categorize it. If you live downtown and are concerned about the value of the drive to Little Parker, let me tell you it will be worth it! Food, sauces, even the salad was outstanding! I give this five stars but take caution because the dining experience for us was over two hours for the two of us and they were not terribly busy at mid-week. We ended up being late for a show, but in fairness we didn't let them know we needed to be out of the restaurant in 90 minutes and probably could have skipped dessert. Which by the way, would be a mistake... the skipping dessert part that is. They set the cherries on fire table side and it topped off one of the most amazing meals I have had in years. Bon Appetit

A family owned restaurant that's charming and friendly. The service can be a bit slow however we were in and out in about 45 minutes for lunch. The chicken marsala was classic and tasty and the chicken scampi was equally delicious.

I was glad that I gave this little local place a third try. I had experiences like Amy R. had, initially. The third try was a charm. The service was prompt. The food was good. The bread is gorgeous and they are very generous with it. I would describe the food more homey than French or Italian. It just plain tasted good. Many friends love this place and I finally see why. It is also very cozy, which I find romantic. Oh, and Amy R.? Your observation that the people that were present when you were there were "over 70" was hurtful. I hope you are lucky enough to be over 70 someday. Maybe then you won't make it an issue in a bad review.

Great meal. Went for lunch and had the serloin lunch special. Only $6.95!!! It included bread starter, soup AND salad, plus rice and vegetable. Needless to say I was stuffed.

Food was awful, service was slow. Nice guy the owner/waiter but really out dated decor and food. I was embarrassed for him.

I went here on a Friday night thinking it might be busy, I was wrong- only about 5 tables were taken around 6:30. One would think I should had been greeted fast and seated- but I wasn't. Once someone noticed me and I was seated it probably took the waiter 10 minutes to come over. The server then just assumed I wanted to order my meal and asked me what I wanted to eat. What? No drink? I then ordered my drink and dinner. The soup was ok, salad nothing great, and the veal was stringy. It then took the waiter at least 10 minutes to realize I was finished and to take away my plate. Don't waste your money on this place, there is a reason it's in a strip mall by dominos.

I cannot believe this place is in Parker. Let's face it, we do not have many choices in quality food. The decor is ancient, as is most of the clientele. That should not detract from some of the best provincial French cuisine I have ever had. Taste is phenomenal, portion sizes are great. Prices are from 1980 with the decor. Try the lamb chops or beef Wellington.

Cafe Monet has long been a favorite of ours. We enjoy taking out of town friends there as they are nervous when we park at a strip mall! The food is delicious and offers subtle spicing and wonderful sauces. My favorite is the Weinerschnitzel but everything is great. I am a good cook and am very particular about food and this is consistently the best in Parker and one of the tops in the Denver area. The service is perfect! The waiters are professionals and provide a leisurely and attentive serice that is more and more a thing of the past. This is a special evening out with prices that are very kind to your budget. I was planning on giving them 3 stars until I tried their chocolate mousse. First they were under staffed. It took a good few mins to get to a table and being waited on. They offer a cup of soup and salad with the dinner, which I thought was nice. Their lemon chicken soup was good and the salad was what it was. I ordered the special - a Beef Wellington $25. First off it was very tough and the pastry dough tasted doughy like it wasn't cooked all the way through. The sauce was more of a brown gravy sauce with dijon mustard, as opposed to a wine sauce. I didnt finish it. The sides were herbed rice, I guess glazed carrots, and potato au gratin. Why serve two starches together? The carrots were the baby carrots you purchase in a bag drowned in a sweet and sour jar type sauce. The price you pay at this restaurant the carrots should have been whole petite or sliced fresh carrots with a homemade honey glazed sauce. The potatoes were good. My husband got the Veal Rossini. He just said eh. He said the same about the esgargot. Now for the chocolate mousse. First off, at any nice or decent restaurant should never put Hersheys chocolate syrup or use reddy whip on a dessert. But then I guess with this mousse that tasted like the Hersey pie from Burger King they might as well. Definitely not homemade, definitely not mousse. I ate 2 bites. Won't be going back. Over priced food that wasn't even good.

1st rule of Cafe Monet is you must try it for lunch. Lunch is very inexpensive with a great variety and a full three course meal with soup, salad and main course. I have had a couple of the lunch items and they have all been very good in wonderful sauces. 2nd rule of Cafe Monet is make sure to invite someone with snow on the roof. It is an older crowd here and you'll feel out of place with a bunch of X-gen'ers sitting at a table! 3rd rule of Cafe Monet is enjoy the 83yr old waiter... no kidding, 83yrs old and still has a bounce in his step and a twinkle of mischief in his eye! Don't be in a hurry, this is at more of a European pace than an American restaurant pace. 4th rule of Cafe Monet, for me, is just come for lunch. While the dinner menu looks fantastic is is a little on the pricey side for Parker.

What a fabulous find. I'm sorry that some of the previous reviewers didn't have an incredible meal. I ordered their lamb shanks, which took a little longer to cook, but the soup (cream of tomato on this day) tasted like it was made fresh and the bread that was offered was great, even if it came from an outside vendor. The salad will Balsamic dressing was great. The Lamb Shanks were as good as I remember from the UK, and the side dishes (scalloped potatoes and onions, glazed carrots, and rice were cooked perfectly. I enjoyed the dinner so much that I recommended it to 3 co-workers, who also raved about the quality and the size of the portions. I'm going again next week

We went Friday night for a late meal. They were out of the lamb, the veal was overdone, and one escargot was crispy. Yuck. My fiancé had the beef Wellington which was cooked to the right temperature but the flavor was poor. It was a $100 tab to not enjoy anything but the potatoes. Bummer.

Cafe Monet is a family owned gem hiding in a strip mall lusting for renovation. Once inside you don't feel you are in a strip mall but rather a quaint French country restaurant. The service was flawless and friendly. The food was hot, fresh and CLEARLY homemade! Keep in mind, for the price, you get bread, soup, salad and entree keeping the value more affordable. We had the veal piccata as well as the chicken Parmesan, nothing but good things to say about both entrees. The best tomato soup we've ever had! Others were heard making the same comment. Pros: fresh homemade, hot food. Excellent service. Great value. Cons: Somewhat outdated decor but CLEAN atmosphere. Overall, a high recommendation. Con

I agree with the other reviews here of Cafe Monet. Outstanding food, reasonable wine list and prices, engaging wait staff that is not in a hurry to turn your table, all making for a leisurely, pleasurable and delicious dining experience. The lemon meringue pie was sublime! Beef Wellington and Petite Filet with all the home made fresh ingredients were both outstanding. Try Cafe Monet, you will not be disappointed!

I had the weiner schnitzel and it came with my very own gravy boat. It was amazing. The beef dish was tender and flavorful. Ask for a side dish of candied carrots. We loved them! This place is quiet with a comfortable slow pace to make a memorable event. Be prepared to relax and enjoy good food with friends.

We first came to Cafe Monet just about two years ago just to try someplace new. In that time it has probably become our favorite place to go for dinner. I can absolutely say that we have never had a dish we did not love. While it may be pricier than a lot of places in Parker, it is actually a very good value for what you get, and their desserts are a bargain compared to most places.

I assume that the people that rave about this place have never been to Europe. I have no idea why it's averaging 4 stars. This place deserves to be on Kitchen Nightmare. Awful decor, clueless staff, mediocre food. We went there once last year and won't go back. We walk in, the waiter's some kid who doesn't hand us a wine list. We do get a wine list and he doesn't know about any of the wines. When my mom asked him if the trout was fresh, he didn't know what that meant! He actually thought that just meant "cooked to order." (No - fresh means fresh, as in, not frozen before it got to the restaurant). He then proceeds to tell us that the chef used to pre-cook everything in the morning and then just heat it up during dinner service, but now it's "fresh" (what he meant was it's thawed and cooked to order, it's not fresh). What? You're telling me you just nuke stuff at 20+ dollars per person in Parker? We order and get our salads, and they were made FROM A BAG. I'm sorry, you don't have enough staff to cut up lettuce every day? It was clearly one of those mixes from Costco. So disappointing. The meal was edible, if bland, which is why I gave it two stars, otherwise I'd give it one. And frankly I wouldn't be this harsh on them if their prices weren't so high. Frankly I should have known not to go here when they said they make French and Italian food. Pick a lane, you can't master both. Don't go here if you want real French food. Maybe the Italian food is better, but I doubt it.

Food was tasty and hot. I had the steak Diane and it was cooked to order. But it said it was served with veggies but when it arrived it was total starch with potatoes, rice and candied carrots. I was expecting green veggies but should have asked I guess. Prices are reasonable. If I am going to knock the service tonight. It seemed halting and discombobulated at times. Food was a little long in arriving and there seemed to be confusion on who ordered what when it arrived. One salad was wrong but quickly fixed. Water was filled regularly but at times our server seemed to disappear and had to wave him down for an order of coffee. One server showed up at our table asking t take our order when one other server had already completed that. Anyway, might have just been one of those nights for the service staff so not sure I will go back.

We love this place!! My wife and I go there when we are able to have a date night. The service is slow , but they have great food. I always order the curry chicken which they make especially for me even though it's not the menu. I even saw the owner at King Soopers buying fresh French bread so I know they use good food. The owner's wife is the one cooking all the meals and she does a great job in making everything taste good.

A few days ago my wife and i decided to try out this little cafe in Parker. it was our first time here. It was a very pleasant experience! My wife was able to find a very tasty vegetarian meal and I enjoyed the beouf dijonaise. It was very well prepared and quite tender. The environment was comfortable and pleasant. The gentleman serving us was very relaxed and charming. He had character and added to the ambiance of the evening. We'll be coming back.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
