Went in with the wife to grab a quick drink before a movie. They brought out 2 waters and they both had large bugs in the water. Yes. Bugs. As in multiple, in each glass. And they were not small - about the size of a large ladybug. Anyway, I surmise they haven't sanitized the ice chests in a while. Needless to say, we bailed quickly. At least I'm not hungry anymore.

My teriyaki salmon was good and our war wanton soup was decent however their wasn't any shrimp in it (wifes complaint). I guess we should have gotten the seafood war wanton? Her mu shu chicken wasn't that great. Tired pancakes and too salty.

Ok folks bitching about the food. Listen. No Chinese restaurant here in America is AUTHENTIC Chinese food. Get it through your skulls. The food is DRAMATICALLY changed and Americanized to suit American 'burger and fries' taste buds. So until you take a trip to China and actually eat there, MSG and all, STOP saying you've eaten Chinese before. I swear some of you act so snotty and cultured just because you ate at a five dollar Chinese eggroll and think you've experienced China itself. Get a GRIP. With that being said August Moon gets five stars not because of the food but because of the great service and how the restaurant looks although it reminds me more of an Italian restaurant. With all other Chinese restaurants tasting the same you have to up it in the other areas. So they do. They offer Thai and Vietnamese. AGAIN don't act like you've eaten real Viet or Thai food until you've gone to an authentic restaurant or to the country itself. It's AMERICANIZED. The food is like any other Chinese restaurant. Same taste. Same prices. The owners are nice folks.

This is not a real chinese food. August Moon serves more americanized Chinese food and it's not even good at delivering that. Very mediocre tasting food that's overpriced to compensate the big building. Great location, beautiful building, well designed interior, service is average. Other than that, I say skip it.

Mediocre overpriced chinese food. Not very authentic and the restaurant is way overdone.

This is by far NOT the best Chinese food in Parker. I've driven by this place a million times, and finally dropped in because I had a coupon. Of course, I didn't read the fine print on the coupon very well, because it was apparently a BOGO for alcohol beverages and not for entrees. You see, all the big lettering on the thing would have led you to believe it was for an entree, but whatever... I digress. This place feels really cold. It's not cozy at all. Granite table tops, or some kind of rock, while likely very sterile made me feel like I was eating at someone's kitchen counter. I didn't see any booths when I was in, just a sea of tables. From the decor it looks like they have tried really hard to make this place seem very upscale but as far as the food is concerned it's really nothing special. The prices of some of their entrees were a bit hard to swallow. I ended up getting general tao's chicken and my husband had cashew chicken. Our entrees were just okay. My meal wasn't very spicy. We also tried their pan fried dumplings and those weren't as bad as this other place I recently tried, but they weren't notable; nor was their soup. You know how your white rice is supposed to stick together? Well it doesn't here. The final blow really IMO is that there wasn't even an Asian staff. When it comes to Chinese and Mexican, call me crazy, if the place doesn't have a wait staff of the same ethnicity as the food they are serving, it's probably not very good. I know we won't be making this mistake again.

Food was decent, but Slowest. Service. EVER!!! An hour and a half for appetizer and entree and we barely saw the server at all! Only come here if you are not in any hurry. Service absolutely sucks!!!! Likely will not return! Sad, because I had high hopes of this being a great place.

Affordable, pleasant staff, and good food won't destroy your guts and leave you a weeping mess on the floor of your bathroom dying from dehydration. I have come here several times - due to both it's proximity to the movie theater and full bar located therein. The drinks are affordable - although not very strong, as the amount of alcohol in each drink is draconically and painstakingly measured with a jigger. Most of my forays here have been for booze. The interior is nice; well lit, a pleasant ambiance, and plenty of decoration. The food itself is pretty good; there is a very wide selection of different Asian cuisines with several types represented (Thai, Japanese, Hunan Style, etc. etc.) Are any of these the best I've ever had? No, but there are good enough and I have the option to select which I want to eat. It's a culinary jack-of-all-trades, but master of none. I'll come here again, but more likely than not for the bar rather than dinner; if you are looking for something better, go for any of the other restaurants in Parker that have specific cuisine offerings.

If I could give "0" stars I would. the food itself is not horrid, just not really special; it is the attitude that is so bad. My boyfriend and I would eat there occasionally but noticed that the food had begun to go downhill over time. The final straw came when we went to go there for dinner one Sunday night. I am a vegetarian and inquired about the hot and sour soup and if it too was vegetarian. The waitress said she would check and came back a moment later and said that it is. she is a liar and did not check. We each ordered our dinners which also included vegetable rolls. We were 1 of 3 couples in the entire place with 2 servers. 45 minutes later the waitress brought us our water and soup. On my 3rd spoon of soup I ended up with a pork chunk in my mouth which I spat out. we had to walk around to track down waitress who was sitting around talking to other waitress. At this point the 3rd couple left because they still had yet to receive their drinks and vocalized this to the other waitress. I told her that my supposedly vegetarian soup has pork. She peeled herself from the barstool and came back to table. She was apologetic at this point and said she would take the soup away and bring us the remainder of the food which I again confirmed that my portion is vegetarian. 15 more minutes go by and the egg rolls arrive. I went to break one open and it too has pork. I had already been to bathroom to force myself to through up the soup and my boyfriend managed to find the owner and tried to ask if I could get some Miso soup and freaking vegetable egg rolls. The manager was rude and said that the waitress was new and did not know the dishes to which my boyfriend pointed out that she had supposedly checked on the soup. NO EXPLANATION for that part but he reluctantly agreed not to charge me for the food that I did not order and would not eat but said since it was now 1/2 hour before closing he would not bring freaking vegetable egg rolls or Miso soup. Our food arrived and they substituted chicken for tofu in my dish. A mistake is a mistake but you apologize, rectify and move on and try to make sure it does not happen again. To do it 3 times is flat out stupidity and incompetance. End result: we spent 1.5 hours in nearly empty place to not get food that was ordered and not be offered replacement; we left hungry and it was now too late to go anywhere else; and I puked for next 3 days. Crappy service and mediocre food if food is even received. *****DO NOT EAT HERE EVER*****

Good food, crappy service. Higher priced than most. I was very disappointed last night with the service. First, the host didn't acknowledge my mother as she waited to be seated for about 5 minutes. Finally, when I showed up, they asked if we wanted to be seated. The waitress was very inattentive and took forever to do what should have been some simple tasks like: bringing us the bill; returning with the credit cards quickly; walking by without looking at our table as I'm waving my arms as though drowning when I really wanted some chop sticks, etc... We had a coupon to buy 1 entree get 1 entree free. We ordered three entrees with different prices, she took the least expensive entree off when I felt we should have gotten the middle entree for free. I WAS a fan of this place as it was one of the more upscale Chinese restaurants in town. It'll be a while before I come back if ever.

The sesame chicken is so clutch! I've ordered delivery and takeaway multiple times for lunch. Based on these experiences, delivery is slow but if you order takeaway you can get your food in about 15 minutes or so. So why the sesame chicken is so good is because the "breading" on the chicken is different than anything I've tasted before. I'm used to chinese restaurants having that doughy type of shell on the chicken. August Moon, however, wraps their sesame chicken in a wonton-like wrapper that adds a good crunch. If you like the crunchy texture on food, you'll want to give the sesame chicken a try. All the lunch specials come with fried rice, an egg roll, and sweet and sour dipping sauce for the egg roll. The fried rice is just rice. No finely cut vegetables or meat; it really is, just fried rice. The egg roll has meat in it and it is pretty decent. The dipping sauce is not the best. I find that it lacks flavor so I usually dip the egg roll into the sesame chicken sauce instead.

I'm not sure why my first review for August Moon "disappeared", but I definitely want people to get the message that the food here is NOT fresh and that the owner will be upset if you ask for anything that causes them to have to make something on the fly. We ordered veggie fried rice from here (several times) with no egg, no MSG and were dissed by the owner and finally outright scolded for asking for something they didn't already have made up in back..... This place sells Americanized Chinese food (I have been to China), and it's not cheap, so at the very least GIVE ME SOMETHING FRESHLY MADE!

  • Cassandra K.

I didn't actually eat in the restaurant, I wanted to try it and had it delivered. To me, chinese is a deliverable food, not a dine-in experience. I ordered my standard fare by which I judge all chinese restaurants on.....the Mongolian Beef.....it was mediocre at best. If you truly want a great plate of chinese food....then hit Johnny's Bistro over off of Parker Road. It's not the fancy location and surroundings that August Moon has, but it's far better food.

Once monthly I find myself in the position of ordering chinese food. So every other month I choose August Moon. And every time I do, I find myself either liking it immensely or throwing it away. The service, as told in the rest of the reviews is consistent. Consistently crappy. What's semi funny about the terrible service is that it's the owner giving it. Really. The owner is as nasty a human as you might ever meet. He is quite irritated with every over the phone order for delivery. He is equally irritated and slow with every take away order. It's remarkable. Well, tonight marks my absolute last confrontation with that wretched man. I will be going to Indochines from this point forward. The food is simply not good enough to tolerate his behavior. In this economy, I want pleasantries for my money with consistently good food. He gives neither.

I did it. Finally, I did it. I ate at the August Moon. I have been eye-balling the August Moon for a long time. For Parker, it is in a fairly predominant location, looking sort of majestic, despite its strip mall origins. The dark tinted windows and the sweeping font of the name on the outside of the building have always intimidated me. It's been almost three years and despite the good word of mouth, I have never even been in it's parking lot. All that is finally over. "Meh. I've experienced better". The help text for a two star rating fit perfectly my experience at the August Moon. The interior was a little too girly for me. Too "foofy". Flowers, wrought-iron art pieces, a vague attempt at oriental-ness. It is a place my grandma would love. To me, the crappier the chinese food restaurant, the better the chinese food. The food was very blah. Having not grown up Chinese, I can't really say how authentic it is. But I did not like it much. I have been to a few chinese food places in my life, and I would have to put the August Moon in the bottom third. If the August Moon were a member of the Scooby Doo gang, it would be Velma. Yeah, she gets the job done, but would you really want to hang out with her? There are better Chinese food places in Parker. Johnny's Asian Bistro is just a couple of block away to the south east.

I had heard about August Moon a few times, but had not actually been there until this evening. I was pleasantly surprised with both the ambiance and the food. I was with someone who grew up in Asia - and she felt it was some of the best Asian food she'd ever had (in the U.S.). I had Sesame chicken - it was delightful. No complaints form my taste buds. And I found the decor very inviting and comfortable. The staff were attentive and friendly. I look forward to my next visit. (My only negative was that the main light/sign on the front of the building was not turned on - which made locating it in the dark harder than it need be. But once inside, all was fine!)

I had been to August Moon Asian Grill a couple times in the past. I thought that the food was decent, and wondered why the reviews seemed so low. Well, now I know. I drove by to see when the new Pho place (Yummy Pho) would be open. It is still under construction. Since I was right here, and hungry, I had lunch. It was pretty bad. The hot and sour soup was okay, but mediocre at best. The eggroll was blandly generic, other than having too much five-spice powder flavor. The garlic pork was a small serving, with giant chunks of almost raw celery. This is a dish I order fairly regularly at Chinese Restaurants and it does not usually contain celery, which I do not care for (especially large bits). FYI, hhe menu description did not mention celery. The pork was rubbery and the sauce was basically a salty gravy. The rice was quite overcooked. Nothing was inedible, but you would expect better food at a run down dollar a scoop Chinese restaurant, let alone a nice looking place like this. The interior of this restaurant is beautiful and spacious (lots of light and air). But, it is easy to see why it is never crowded.

I really love the sesame chicken & hot n sour soup. It would seem that its better to do carry out because you get more food. It is a bit pricey for chinese food, however it is the best in Parker. At least that I have found; I'll be experimenting around.

Listen, bad Chinese places don't stick around this long. I crack up at the reviews complaining about "authentic" Chinese food. When is the last time you went to China? Alas I digress... I like August Moon for their varied menu, Thai, Chinese and SE Asian. I never have a bad meal here and while the owners are pretty stringent about substitutions and customizations, we will go back. No many places serve Walnut Shrimp and Pad Thai on the same menu. True, I'm never "wowed", but I have never been disappointed either....

The food was pretty good, the prices were very fair, but the thing I liked most was the cleanliness of the restaurant! The service was not very good, but I do believe our waitress was new, so they get a pass. We will probably return.

Good and affordable for the whole family Chinese food. If you want authentic, buy a ticket to Beijing and go for it. But if you do this, be ready for real Chinese food: a headless whole duck floating in your soup or maybe a warmed duck egg that is about ready to hatch. This place is clean and you will be getting what you expect, not mystery meat.

we have tried all the chinese places in Parker and by far this is the worst. The vegetables are not fresh and the sauces do not taste good at all. We had Fried Crab cheese Wontons that tasted stale, sesame chicken that was over cooked, Kung Pao Beef that seemed like the beef had been cooked days ago, and Orange Shrimp that was coated in greasy batter so bad you could not taste the shrimp. Now I know why they are never busy. Never again will I eat here

The best Chinese in Parker as far as I'm concerned! Their current location is really beautiful with indoor and outdoor seating, fountains, a sky light. They also have Vietnamese food. The portions are typical large, the menu is large the owner is always there if you have any issues and the wait staff has always been good. They also offer take-out and delivery.

I've been coming here for quite some time- the restaurant has always been very clean. Every time I have been there, the food has always been great. The beef skewers are my families favorite! Our waiter this last time was very nice and accommodating and our food was out within 10 minutes or less!

My daughter has been wanting to go here since we moved to Parker last November. Due to some bad reviews, I have been hesitant. I really wish we had not waited so long! We went early (4:45ish) on a Saturday night and the place was pretty busy. The service was very friendly and food was brought out fast and fresh. We ordered Sesame Chicken and Mongolian Beef and both were delicious. Several people asked us if we needed anything and all our needs were taken care of. We will be back!

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
