Carne asada fries burrito!! Yes all the goodies of carne asada fries rolled up in a tortilla! That bad boy was on point. Went back again and tried a smothered burrito since people were raving about the green chile, and it was pretty good. Not the best green chile I've had but definitely but ranks higher then most. Dining room was kept clean and service is good. One thing I didn't like was the tacky menu setup, up above and all around the order counter is a massive menu compiled handwritten signs, printed papers, pictures etc...kind of throws your mind for a curve when your trying to figure out what you want to eat. But if you want good fast Mexican food on a budget, this is the place.

I love this place, great for take out. Awesome Mexican hamburgers as well as posole. The tamales aren't good though & very small. Everything is affordable!

I eat here about once every 2 weeks. Prices are affordable, and the food is good. Service is not amazing but never bad. I love the carne asada fries! The combo meals pack a bunch of food, for good value. The green chile packs a good kick and is great in or on your burrito. I'm not into tamales or breakfast burritos but the people I've been with liked them. It's a great place to stop in for good mexican food.

The food is actually pretty good for the cheap price. I found it fairly spicy, so be warned. However, it should be known that this is a "take out place". We ate in, and were served in Styrofoam takeout boxes with plastic cutlery. :-(

I've been going to the Tamale kitchen since around the time they opened. This place is great. I can honestly say I've never had a bad experience here. Their food is always fresh and their staff is always polite. I totally recommend going here.

Stopped in here for a quick lunch and was totally wowed! Delicious tamales, among what looked like a ton of other great Mexican food. The mild tamales were succulent, flavorful, and not too spicy. My husband got the HOT pork tamales and reports they were perfect - as close to the tamales he remembers getting from the Guadalupe ladies' group when he was a kid... and let's be honest, it's hard to compete with those childhood memories. Service was curt but quick; I had trouble hearing and speaking to the young man who took our order (the kitchen is a loud place!). Since we ate in, they simply had us take a seat and brought our food to us!

So being a denver native (1st and federal) and having to move up to northglenn, I was disappointed to see no place to get some good tamales. I grew up on Tamale Kitchen and I drove down as ofter as i could to the Morrison Rd location to get them but was difficult. I can tell you I was on cloud 9 when I saw this location on 104th! I love everything Tamale Kitchen ! From their tamales to the flan you can't go wrong! And .50 Tamale Tuesdays is a PLUS!!!! Get your fill for like 5 dollars and a drink. I highly recommend buying a dozen and bringing them home for a late night snack. Seriously good food!!

Tamale Kitchen has some of the best green chili around. I love getting the family pack when I'm too lazy to make dinner. $17 gets you: 12 tamales, 1quart of green chili, a pint of rice, beans and 1 doz tortillas. Great deal. TK has very good crispy rellenos too!

    (4)
  • Sean S.

Awesome! How do you beat a half-dozen delicious little tamales for $4? And the drive-thru was an unexpected, convenient surprise!

  • Meli S.

During the summer, I was driving through Colorado and stopped here for a quick tamale fix. The menu was confusing at first due to the number of options, but the person at the register was patient while I decided. The tamales (specifically the red and green pork) are cheap and delicious. If you're in the area, I highly recommend it.

    (5)
  • Karalinda M.

I've ordered here a few times. It's great because they have a drive-thru that is open during busy hours. The tamales are great and authentically spicy! Service is pretty fast too. You can get a dozen tamales for about $7, and they give them to you frozen so you can cook them at your leisure! Great food!

  • Mitzy R.

Love their tacos but they are expensive for what they give and customer service is dry haha

Late night? Looking at Taco Bell? Keep going, just the next left and a Barbacoa Burrito and you'll be glad you didn't try the new Doritos Phlegm Garbage Grilled whatever at that shit hole. This place has the best freaking late night Mexican anywhere. Just wolfed the Barbacoa Burrito with sour cream, guac and cilantro&onions and... Well safe to say I am compelled to write a stellar review. Wish the crispy rellenos were more crisp, but they are pretty good nonetheless. If your choice is between this deliciousness and any other late Mexican place, you owe it to yourself to give it a run... Wait, I hear my bacon cheese fries calling. Also QVC.

Usually stop here on my way home from our bi-weekly poker game up north at a friend's house. So nice that they are open 24 hours on the weekends so one doesn't have to stop at the chain fast food places!!! Same family as the other two locations which delivers the same food. I usually grab a dozen tamales to take home as well as a burrito for the drive home and have never been disappointed. They have red, green, veggie and jalapeno/cheese tamales which are all tasty. The green is a tad hotter than the red while the veggie ones are mild but flavorful and the jalapeno/cheddar are too hot for your average person but I love their flavor! Enchiladas are decent as are other menu items. Definitely an acquired taste and some aren't going to like the flavors or the heat but it works great for me! And it's cheap!!!

  • Janelle Z.

Best mexican food ever! Love that it's more spicy then most places. The relleno is the best I've had! And the posole is delicious as well! I wish there was a tamale kitchen in Arizona!

    (5)
  • Mandy O.

I've been here multiple times and have never been disappointed. The kind service to the delicious food has been spot on. Their weekday specials are great too especially tamale Tuesday's, yum! For convenience the drive thru makes it a no brainer to swing by for dinner on your way home.

We ordered Tamale Kitchen for my husbands 30th birthday party and we more then impressed with the quality of food we got! it was is very inexpensive and the amount of food we got was amazing, lets just say there weren't skimpy of their food portions!! They were very accommodating to what we needed and when the food arrived it was absolutely delicious, I think every one of my guest complimented the food! It's nice to see a small business that really truly cares for what their putting out! it was EXCELLENT, can't rave enough of it!

  • Conor H.

Food is 4 stars. Service is consistently crap. Doesn't matter how busy or slow they are, they always seem like they have better things to do. I used to be a chef and a server, so I am not a picky customer. 15 minutes for bean burrito and tostada in the drive through thou? I recommend this place to a lot of people, wish they would step it up on the service side.

Better than Santiago's up the street! As a Taco Connoisseur, I can honestly say this place does it right! A little pricey per taco at $1.50 each, but they do the taco craving trick. Good spice to the meat, stuffed to the brim and always crunchy! Also, try the Chili Relleno taco for a great twist on an old favorite. The Green Chili Cheese Fries with Chicharones do that late night fix and the steak and french fries burrito are really good and a welcome change from the standard breakfast burritos. The green chile is good and even though I stick to the taco's my girlfriend has never had any burrito or enchilada she didn't like. I think I will go now! *Note they have $.50 Tamale Tuesdays and $1.00 Taco Monday's!

This is as authentic as it gets without a passport. An extensive menu offers most tamales know to man and breakfast burritos, all with a choice of several very good toppings. Portions are good and the value is excellent. I can't think of a better Mexican breakfast. The bacon is really tasty. Two of us ate satisfying, flavorful meals for a little over ten dollars. Service was prompt and friendly on this visit. The small seating area is clean and comfortable. The granite topped tables are a nice touch. Plenty of free parking in an off street lot. There is a drive thru window at this location. Open early so you can hit it, quit it and get your day on.

  • Josette C.

This is my family's and my place for some tasty burritos or some mild pork chile cheese fries so delicious I get the combo #7 it's a Mexican hamburger with fries smothered in green chile comes with lettuce and tomatoes also yum yum it's around $7 for just the food I don't normally get drinks because we take our food to go but they got lots of options.

  • Casey C.

Unique Tamale flavors, but awkward environment. Not particularly well maintained, clean or organized. I would move on to a Santiagos for the buck.

    (3)
  • Matt M.

The food is excellent, and the staff are friendly. This is my go to quick mexican food place here on the north side. The menu is a bit overwhelming (extensive), but I like the options. Go and try a smothered chicken and bacon burrito!

    (4)
  • Courtney B.

seriously tiny portions and awful food. The tamales are $1.25 each and are no bigger than a fun sized snickers bar. They were dry, flavorless and disgusting. The rest of the food was really quite boring too.

    (1)
  • Lan V.

Great food and cheap prices! On Fridays and Saturdays, their drive through is open 24-hours, which is perfect for the late night snacks. I like the potato, bacon, egg burrito best.

  • Angela S.

Overall I would rate this place as poor. I have tried it twice. Tonight I ordered a chicken taco and the chicken tasted like it came from a can. I also had enchiladas. The woman asked if I wanted green sauce or red sauce and I chose red. When i bit into a bite of the cheese enchilada it lit my mouth on fire...I wish she had warned me when I ordered. Holy cow! I dont think most children would like enchiladas that hot much less most adults.

  • Steven W.

The Temale Kitchen is great mexican at an amazing price. Tamale Tuesdays gives you .50 tamales. I mean that is crazy good! and the tamales are very tasty. The chile relleno burritoes are very yummy but some beano might be needed. I am careful to eat more than one of these if your going back to work :) Bottom line; good mexican at an affordable price! happy eating Steve

  • Allison H.

This place has wickedly delicious steak tacos! They also have some tasty chips that leave a honey aftertaste. The peeps are friendly, and they offer some great daily deals as well as some awesome printable coupons on their website.

After reading the reviews, I hopped in the car last week to partake in Tamale Tuesday where it's only $.50 for a tamale! Ordered a dozen Jalapeno and Cheese tamales through the drive through. Tamales were nice and hot, wrapped in paper in a nice little package. I was expecting tiny tamales as per some reviews, but was nicely surprised. They weren't huge, but a lot more substantial than I was expecting. Flavor was great, masa was nice and fluffy, jalapenos were nice and spicy. Only complaint is that you couldn't detect the cheese at all. I ate some and wrapped the rest back in the paper. Two hours later, the package was still hot! Fantastic, because sometimes you can't rush home and bust into your food right away. And who likes cold takeout? I'm excited to try some of their other food, its hard to find good Mexican out here.

Ever since I saw Tamale Kitchen on 104th, with its homemade paper signs in the windows, I wanted to try it. Walk in and you find a counter with a plastic push character menu of rellenos, enchiladas, burritos, and yes, tamales. I went with one tamale and one relleno in a combo with rice and beans for around $5. I took a seat and out came a styrofoam box with my order. Here, a "to go" order probably just comes without the tray my box was delivered on. The green chili was good and the beef tamele decent without having any particularly unique or interesting flavors. But my crispy relleno was exactly what a relleno should be: delicate, cheesy, and rich. Unfortunately, the rice and beans were unappetizing and I discarded them untouched. While the main event of my lunch was good, I was disappointed not to see some slow-cooked barbacoa or carnitas on the menu. Here it's more about the $2 breakfast burrito, I think. I'd come back if it's convenient, but I wouldn't make the trip for it.

Their green Chilli is what your taste buds are after! The menu just doesn't quit and is impressively scroll like. Take a to-go menu and take your time ordering the options are endless. But fear not! You can't go wrong. Everything is tasty. My favorites are anything smothered in the green chili. My Boyfriend loves the Taco's! I also L-O-V-E the chilli relleno taco's. I think,I too will go right now!

I know authentic Mexican food (from traveling in Mexico and living in San Diego for five years). I know Colorado-style Mexican food ("Spanish rice" WTF?). I prefer the real deal and Tamale Kitchen is that. I finally stopped at their 104th restaurant and was immediately blown away by their extensive menu. Not a chimichanga in sight, thank gawd. I just had a pork taco plate the first trip. I liked how they separated out the condiments from the tacos themselves. Unlike other reviewers I liked their beans and rice. I judge take-out food on a different scale than sit-down. How it's packaged, how easy is it to wolf down while driving or parked in the lot next door. This meal was just fine on all accounts. Second time I had the tamales. Very tasty. I'll go back a bunch of times till I distill their vast menu down to what I like best. Might take 20 or more trips. But---the message here---I'll be back.

  • L C.

Their egg and potato breakfast burrito with chili and cheese inside is the BEST! If you go before 9:30 am they are only $2. They are called egg and potato specials. They have a drive thru and are quick. Many times I would phone in my order when I needed more than three and they would have them ready for me in drive thru within ten minutes.

This place has great reviews so I thought I'd give it a try. I love breakfast burritos, but I'm never out and about early enough to have one. Luckily Tamale Kitchen serves breakfast all day. I tried the egg & potato breakfast burrito, special (meaning with cheese and green chile inside). It was very tasty. It was hot, fresh, cooked to order and didn't need the meat. It's a good sized burrito for $3.50. It was definitely worth it and I know I'll be back for more. I also really want to try the tamales. The lady who took my order was very friendly. I was in and out in under five minutes (I was the only person in line). Overall I was very happy and glad I've found a great breakfast burrito for any time of day. I've also been back and tried the chicken & rice burrito, special. It was delicious! I also tried a cheese and jalapeño tamale. It was very hot and not at all cheesy. I'll pass on those from now on. Still a really great burrito place, just don't expect the line to go too quickly.

Great fast food option to feed the Mexican food cravings I have when I come back to the Denver area. I will return!!

    (4)
  • Daniel M.

The menu is overwhelming as it lists every possible combination of Mexican food you can imagine. As an Albuquerque native, it's great having a Mexican-comfort food kind of restaurant to go to. I've ordered dozens of tamales to bring to parties and functions and they are always a hit! You can tell the staff here is close-knit. They work very hard. The prices and hours at this place are unbeatable. The space is a bit of a dive and the location doesn't make you feel too good about hanging around at night. But I could say that about a lot of places.... So this place can count on my business!

  • Mary Jo S.

Tamale Kitchen has become our go to place before a caving meeting at O'Meara Ford's conference room. The menu is overwhelming at first but once you choose a few favorites, you will probably not stray and order the same thing. We have had tamales by the dozen and printed a coupon for buy 2 get one free, a chili rellano, a chili rellano burrito, and a pork and potatoes smothered burrito. All were good with a nice spicy chili. The husband gets the mild and it has enough spice for him. Carmel Churros are next on the agenda and if I were a night owl, I would love to see the drive through on a weekend at midnight for Taco Madness.

  • Bre H.

A dozen red pork tamales 2 smothered steak fries burritos 3 sodas $25 Pretty inexpensive in my opinion. The tamales aren't the best but they are great. The steak fries burrito is fantastic. Comes with steak, steak fries on the inside, guacamole, lettuce and sour cream. The reason for 4 stars and not 5 is the wait time/space. Get comfortable and put your car in park if you're in the drive thru...or sit in the very overcrowded lobby.

    (4)
  • Katie K.

I got the green pork tamale, and a smothered chile relleno burrito. The tamale was great and I went back that's what I would get again. The burrito was missing flavor. The beans tasted like they were canned. The chili on the burrito was really good. I just was not impressed by what was inside.

    (4)
  • Nicki J.

This place is PERFECT! The tamales are super tender, and flavor full, packed with delicious seasoned meats, or my favorite jalapeño and cheese! The red and green chili is DELICIOUS?!!! Burritos are huge and full of super fresh toppings, and the enchiladas are perfectly stuffed with ooey-goey cheese! The fact that you literally can drive up in your pajamas, at 3:30 in the morning is just icing on the cake. This place rules!

    (5)
  • Mari F.

Its ok. Pretty expensive though for the food you get. Paid 22$ for 2 people. Got a smothered breakfast burrito, chicken flautas plate with beans and rice 7.75 and the very hot pork fries 7.25 and a .99 cent beef taco and no drinks. For the price of the fries i expected more as well as them being super hot and they werent. I think at a traditional sit down mexican restaurant we could have gotten a better deal. My brother like this place though and lools like they have some good specials for midnight on the weekends so ill give this place another try.

    (2)
  • Adriana S.

Food is very good, service is okay. But the best part is they give you a very good price for the food!!! My favorite is their $2 breakfast burritos in the morning :)

    (4)
  • Brett C.

I LOVE Mexican type food! This place is much better than Santiago's or 3Margaritas. A smothered burrito, two red tamales was only $6 and was awesome! For burritos and tamales, Tamale Kitchen. For tacos and mole, Taquería El Trompito

    (5)
  • Leslie A.

This place is awesome! I'm from Cali and didn't think I can find Mexican food close to what we have at home. They definitely get 2 thumbs up

    (5)
  • Marcus B.

Great burritos. If you're looking for a good one try the potato special or the steak fried special. Both great choices. The drive through can take a looong while on the weekends and late nights but the food will be great!

  • T S.

YUM! Looked at this place a few times and finally stopped by on 50 cent tamale Tuesday. So glad I did. This place is legit good. Tried the veggie and cheese/jalapeno tamales as well as the nachos; my boyfriend had the steak quesadilla. Coming from someone who loves spicy-hot food, the tamales were not hot but spiced nicely. Nachos were good and kept hearing about how delish the quesadilla was. As far as customer service - the girl behind the counter was very nice - gave suggestions, brought our food to the table. Not sure what the negative reviews or comments about service come from. The place has a drive thru - do you expect restaurant service at Taco Bell? Not the place to even think twice about that. Just a place to enjoy bomb-ass food. It was busy (drive thru & walk in) but totally worth any wait. Will definitely go back again.

    (5)
  • Nick D.

Tamale kitchen has the best breakfast burritos in the area, you can get them regular, grilled or deep fried. Their tamales are also pretty good. They also have good Horchata. Can't say about lunch as I have never had anything but breakfast. For breakfast though they are a 5/5!

    (5)
  • Kevin M.

Tamale kitchen is going to make me 300 lbs. Everything is awesome. After being out of state for too long and feeling Mexican food deficient, this place satisfies my Mexican food needs every time. Very cheap, too! They could charge double and I would consider it over any other options out there. If you can't decide what burrito to get, just go Mega (everything) and make it special (green Chile and cheese inside). Yum.

    (5)
  • Echo M.

The beans here are perfect. I would definitely recommend getting the steak taco plate. The enchilada sauce is way too spicy for my taste, and they don't offer a less spicy option. The tamales are kind of hot too. The green chili, even the mild, is so freaking hot. If you want true Mexican flavor without a crap ton of spiciness, the taco plates are the way to go. For comparison, I think Taco Bell "Fire" hot sauce is bearable.

  • Harry S.

So much better then Santiago's . Everything I've ordered or that has been recommended too me by the staff was delish ! I've laid awake in bed thinking about The Smothered Steak and Fry Burrito . Sweet Baby Jesus !! Drive thru can be a bit slow at times but its worth the wait

    (5)
  • Cat P.

Food is a 4, sometimes 5. however, the service is infuriatingly slow EVERY time, no matter how long the line is. It breaks my heart to say it, but this place is becoming not worth the wait. It's too bad because it really does have some great menu items. It seems there are a lot of reviews that say the same. I wish management would step in and work on customer service.

  • Mia J.

I'm from so. California. I have to have my mexi food often. This is the ONLY place that I felt passed my palate test, thus far. Always coming here to meet my Mexican food needs. The steak fries burrito is BOMB & my personal fave!! also the tamales are amazing. Totally taste homemade. The green chile one was spicy. Be warned. :) Service is great. Drive thru option is also great. The only issue I have with this place is their stupid menu. It is soo cluttered and confusing. I can't figure out what I want so I just stick with what I have tried and don't bother. I literally get a small headache and eye soreness from trying to look over the menu. Besides that, this is a 5 star joint to me! :)

  • Jessica P.

Ordered around 12:45 on a Saturday. Was told to would be 25-30 minutes for pick up. Got there and there was a line of 3 people. So we waited in line and once they got to the lady in front of us they stopped taking orders and started counting the registers. It's a Saturday at lunch time, no orders being taken, 2 registers not going, and instead of saying we'll be right with you the girls just went to the back and talked/laughed. The line now is 12 deep when she finally starts taking orders. She was rude and had no sense of customer service. The food was mediocre at best. Never again....

Not a bad spot to eat at. My kids and I really enjoy eating here on occasion. We especially like coming here on a cold day.

  • Erika C.

Best Mexican I've ever had and very inexpensive! The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was because last time I went, I found a hair in my food. Gross!!!! I will eventually get over it though because the food is worth it!!

    (4)
  • Phillip B.

This is and has been my favorite place for a morning burrito. I drive out of my way to go here. The food is fantastic and unlike local competition, you can actually pick up the food and not end up wearing it. Staff is always friendly and hours are great. The only reason they don't get 5 stars is the wait times can be lengthy. Especially for drive thru customers. Overall, love the place and it will continue to be my place for Mexican food in the area.

    (4)
  • Ron S.

Love this place taste so good and fast for example went in 4 dozen tamales and watched about 200 tamales sold while in x mas Eve and was out in about 20 minutes really awesome place

    (5)
  • Stephan G.

Good food, but the 20 minute wait in the drive thru is definitely not worth it. Get your act together if you are going to try to have a 24hr drive thru. Ridiculous.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
