Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Its a HOLE IN THE WALL BY FAR. But the Food is Delicious. Both Times, I order the Smothered Deluxe Burrito with Ground beef and Sour Cream and Guac. I get it mild and it still has a little kick to it. And get the chips they are made fresh and you will be fighting over the bag. You can also call in your order.

Their food is good breakfast burritos are good green chillies good, but it is a dirty place just going and look up and you see all the nasty ceiling tile so what do you think the back looks like?

Dude. So. Good. Chile relleno burrito is top notch. The nachos use a cheese sauce which I was skeptical of but they were very good as well. Definitely will be back. Service was fantastic as well.

My husband and I crave their burritos often. I am gluten intolerant, and they are very accommodating - I get a burrito in a to-go container. Their chicharronnes are fantastic!! YUM!! And the Horchata is delicious!! The restaurant itself may be lacking in appearance, but the food is just too good - I don't care. We always get it to go, anyway. The staff remembers me and is very friendly, every time - busy or not. If you've had a bad experience, please give it another try, because it may have just been a bad day.

Just your basic good well made mexican food. I've eaten there 5 times in the last month and have enjoyed every meal!

Looks like a dive from the outside but actually very clean on the inside and food is delicious. Their breakfast burritos are especially awesome. I've tried almost everything on their menu, tacos, burritos and there is nothing I have not liked. Staff is friendly and even remembered me by voice when I called ahead to place a pick up order three weekends in a row.

Mercedes is one of those restaurants that you would normally just drive on by without even thinking that it would be good. I made the decision to stop there one day, after 7 years of driving by it and was not disappointed. Their green chile is hot, fresh and pork free. Their potatoes in the breakfast burritos are hash browns and not diced (love this...). Eggs, good- tortilla, good... Five Stars so far- then you go to pay and notice they are trying to charge you more than what it should be. This has happened to me more than once, so I just double check it every time now. I have yet to have a bad burrito or menu item from Mercedes, definitely a hole in the wall worth stopping out of your way for

After hearing how great this was from someone at work my husband dragged me in here, and I was scared about it too. I have seen this place since I was little and I never planned on eating there because "hole in the wall joints" are my fear. The place was very clean, all of the corners, the floors, the tables, all clean! I was surprised at how clean it was actually because it was not what I expected at all! We got bean and cheese burritos with hot green chili and they were really, really good! The could have used some more chili in them, but had a really good flavor in general. We are going to go back and try the breakfast burritos because we have heard good things about that too.

I've been a couple times. The crispy tacos are the highlight of my trips so far. At $2 they are a little costly but worth it. Unique crispy shell with plenty of meat & filling. I haven't had the breakfast burrito but the others I had were only ok. The chimchanga was above average. A small hole in the wall place, but worth the trip to support the local guy.

Just like the others said, this is a hole in the wall, basically a cinderblock building, but we tried it based on Yelp reviews. What a great find! Clean, food was good, inexpensive. Pleasantly delighted!

Mercedes is off the beaten path but definitely worth making the trip to!! The green chile is hot, the service is great and the prices are just right.

The best breakfast burritos - tasty and filling! Order a horchata to wash it all down. Don't worry about the other items on the menu however. The service is okay, and it's a hole in the wall but you can always take the burrito to go.

Horrible! Used to frequent this place....no more. Today was it for me. Unmelted cheese slices laid on top.and Green chile that literally tasted like it was made in the garbage.

Ignore the picture of the burritos with American cheese singles on them. We did find some of this on one of our burritos and informed the manager that we would never go back if they were going to put that cheese on our burritos. They have since fixed the issue and no longer use that cheese, it's pretty darn good now. Great place for breakfast burritos. They accept call ahead ordering so that your burrito is ready for pick up when you get there.

This place is cheap and right by the house. I've read good reviews and decided to try it. Well, turns out you get what you pay for. It was alright. We both got burritos and mine was decent, and we got a steak burrito for my fiance, and there was like 5 pieces of meat all stuck at the bottom of the burrito. I would rather pay the few extra bucks and go to Chipotle--at least I know we will have a proper proportion of meat and fresher ingredients.

Sweet baby jesus this place is good. My boyfriend insisted that he absolutely *needed* a breakfast burrito so we went and I am SO glad we did. The place is really tiny, and most people seem to get takeout (the line was out the door by the time we left) but we got a table. The service was quick and their chips and salsa are fantastic - homemade chips that almost reminded me of sopapillas without the sweet, and a solid salsa offering. I had the huevos rancheros and for some reason (because I'm an idiot?) I ordered my eggs scrambled, which is practically against the law, but it was still amazing. The plates were huge - I was starving when we got there and I could only finish about 2/3 of my food. Really good beans and rice, and green chili absolutely covered the plate. I was pumped about the chili because it didn't have any meat, which is a first for me. My boyfriend switched to their homemade chorizo and eggs, and while I didn't try it (no meat for me), he said it was great. I'm pretty sure this is my new favorite Saturday morning recovery spot. Seriously, go.

One of my favorite little spots. Not very big, and not a lot of room to sit, but if you can find a spot it's worth it. They serve burritos smothered or walk-around for those on the go. The Chorizo is very flavorful and the green chili is just the right kind of hot. I like small out of the way spots that I can pop in grab a bite to eat and hit the road. Great spot, to do just that.

Is this place homemade? Tastes like everything is from a can. Should've drove those extra few miles to get some beans and green chile at Lolitos. Oh, did I mention that it is very over priced for the quality of food? Don't think I did...

An okay place. I probably would not go back again because our orders were wrong.

The food is ok, but the service is horrible. They never answer there phone when trying to place an order for take out. I tried to call in an order today as i was in my car driving. The phone rang at least 30 times before they answered it, and that was on the second try. And for the second time in a row, I tried to order a guacamole tostada to be told they were out of guac. They may as well take it of the menu if they are never going to have it. I ended up not ordering because of that, but when I drove by on my way home there were no cars in the parking lot, so I don't know why they can't answer the phone!! If you are lucky enough for them to answer, they always say it will be ready in 5 minutes. Wait at least 20 unless you feel like sitting there!!
