We'd eaten at Wingman next door a bunch of times and saw a lot of people in Jalisco almost everytime. Don't know what happened. I always check yelp before checking a place out. No reviews? Cool. I'll be the first. Mixed reviews? Lot's of cars in the lot, I'll check it out. I didn't check yelp first. You stupid, stupid boy. We should have walked right back out the door at the sighting of the first hard shell taco. Gringo mex. But they have a whole window ledge of mexican sodas on display too. What the hell, we're here, I'm hungry, let's eat. Now, I've grown to be a snob as far as mex goes but I stil appreciate good food, regardless of the style. Good gringo mex can be great. This wasn't great but it was... not bad. My sig-other had a green chile plate and I went with the carnitas plate. My carnitas were pretty good. They were covered in more of a gravy than a green chile but it was decent. The rice and beans sides were flavored okay but the rice was obviously too long in the steam table without being stirred or having extra liquid added. I F'ing hate crunchy hard rice! The wife's green chile had large chunks of tender pork in that same gravy green chile. We prefer more green chile and more heat from chiles than this stuff could provide. I would pass on this spot unless anything described appeals to your lighter taste sensibilities? De nalgas.

This has closed and has become "el trebol". Eek, methinks not about its successor.

Driving by on 104th, I saw Jalisco and a tinge of excitement pulsed through me as I hoped that a real Mexican restaurant might have made it all the way up to the Westminster/Northglen/almost-Wyoming suburbs. And since I base all my dining decisions on tinges of excitement, I of course had to give Jalisco a shot. Unfortunately, Jalisco brings that central Denver feel to the burbs without bringing any central Denver taste. While sometimes spicy, the food is fundamentally unexciting and is only marginally better than the nearest chain. While there are some seafood options, in general the menu items all look about the same. Like Micheal Bay movies, every item on the menu reminds you of every other item. You can vary the tortilla-bean-meat-cheese combination, but you're basically eating the same thing no matter what. You might be into it. I wasn't. The food was as lacking in soul as it was in flavor. But maybe you like bland food, or maybe you want to just get a drink and have some chips and salsa. If so, this is the place for you. Otherwise, head south to Denver where the Mexican joints don't disappoint.

Goodbye lunch for me with the people from work. The Dr. and Nurse chose this place which I had never heard of. My philosophy for this general area? Anything's better than going to Red Lobster for lunch again. Anything... I had a combo plate with a bean burrito, chile relleno, and cheese enchilada. Although I did not like the way they do their chile rellenos here, that is just my preference, and other people might like them. I'm sure if I had said something about the relleno they would have brought me something different, but I didn't. They do have a full bar here, too. All in all, it was a decent goodbye lunch.

This place is a decent Mexican restaurant on 104th, a few miles south of the house, so it's close. Located in the same indistinct shopping center as the place that makes the best breakfast burritos in Denver, Santiago's, it might be easily passed by. Honestly, not that it matters, but every time we've been there, we've been about the only non-hispanic people there. The waitstaff could stand to be a little more attentive and friendly, the food that's not spicy enough can easily be remedied with a little hot sauce. The salsa every time we've been there has varied---the mild is always pureed and mild. The hot salsa is chunky and sometimes more medium than hot and sometimes hotter than desirable. The food itself is fresh and well prepared. I agree certain things are a bit bland. The chicharrones are an unhealthy addition to any burrito. The lady is a chile relleno connoisseur and seems to fancy the way they make theirs here. The decor is a little cheesy, with fake flowers on the table (which I think are a recent unnecessary upgrade). Why not spring for real flowers? All in all, the food is not bad here. But, don't EVER try the $1 margaritas unless you want a glass of mix with no tequila. I guess for a dollar you can't really expect too much...

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
