Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Home style Mexican. A little salty but good. Friendly service and family atmosphere. Lots of selections to choose from so there will be something for everyone.

Solid Mexican food that satisfies. I was also very pleased with the service. The chips and salsa was tasty and my food was ok but still wanted something a little more to stand out for me.

My boyfriend and I just moved to Colorado from Miami. This place took us home, so much flavor in there food and the agua de melon and strawberry is delicious!! We live an hour away and we will be sure to be back!... Also, great customer service!
(5)Jason R.
This is a great locally owned Mexican restaurant. The food is consistently good and the chips and salsa are great. Friendly staff and highly recommended.
(5)Scott K.
Absolutely love this place - it's some of the best Mexican I have found in Colorado. They have great green chili and combination platters. I'm a big fan of their #8 which has a crispy relleno, tamale and chicken burrito. Their chips and salsa are also fantastic. The staff is friendly and always helpful.

We recently moved in Northglenn area and had dinner here after reading reviews. Decor is neither attractive inside nor outside. Food was OK, salsa was spicy for us, green chili sauce was tasty, veggie enchilada was good. I would say nice place for lunch, but not for dinner.

One of the better Mexican restaurant the I have been to as far as home made food goes. The posole is amazing. The red chile sauce, which is what makes the dish, is pretty good. Hardly, do places where they serve it know how to make r3d chili for menudo, posole, enchiladas etc... definitely the place for some good posole and such. Tacos are delicious, not bland nor it is overpowered with spices. Too bad they dont serve beef tripe. there happy hour is 2.75 on Imported and 2.00 on domestic and 5 coronas for 8 bucks during 2-6pm for anyone who likes to know that stuff and 4 dollar margaritas. It is Family owned and the niece of the owner told me they make a lot of the food from scratch and it tells simple by the red chile.
(5)Matt W.
A family run Mexican restaurant that delivers a great atmosphere and amazing food! We had the margaritas, carne asada, and carnitas plates... What a great spot, absolutely worth your time! It's our new favorite Mexican restaurant!
(5)Jeff D.
As advertised. Quick and friendly service, huge portions of good food at really affordable prices, and the margaritas are really strong. They even gave us some extra chips and salsa on the house, plus a sopapilla at the end. Will be back and often.

Good Mexican food restaurants are hard to find in Colorado, so finding El Sabor Jerezano was a nice surprise. The interior isn't too fancy -- think "come as you are" -- but it's inviting and comfortable. Our waiter could not have been any nicer. We had enchiladas suizas and they were good, with a little more heat than is typical in Colorado. We also sampled their tamales, which were covered with a sauce that made them absolutely delicious. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because the chips were a little over-done, which probably isn't typical. We'll definitely go back.
(4)Michael H.
Extremely friendly!! Delicious green chile in two different styles: smothered and home style.
(4)Brock S.
I would eat here again. I'm happy that it's close to me. They have tacos adobada that comes with lots of sauce and goodies. I'm lacking a way to quantify this place, but perhaps if i said they have hamburgers on the menu that will tell you that this is kind a lowest common denominator mexican food. I'm not saying it's bad at all, just nothing extra-ordinary. (my favorite mexican food must be ordered in espanol and nowhere near meets health code standards). this place is just typical and what you would expect from a family friendly restaurant.
(4)Echo M.
I came here twice with friends and didn't really like it. My food came out cold one time, so I asked for it to be warmed up & when it came out the second time, it was beyond perfect. I got enchiladas and the sauce was delicious, the cheese was perfectly melted and everything was warm. The second time, my enchilada sauce was unbearably sweet. I got a tamale and it was rock hard! That being said, the beans and rice were delicious.
(3)Michael H.
I am not a monster fan of Mexican food, but the fajitas and the rellanos are by far the best I've had. It's definitely a somewhat divey hole in the wall, but everyone knows those are usually the best. Oh, and they're green chile is pretty good too.
(5)Taylor H.
Best Mexican food I've had in Denver. I'm super picky being from Southern arizona and this place while still very colorado, is legit and not whitey mcwhite white like all the other places I've been to. Still no abondigas but much closer to home. I'll be back.
(4)Austen H.
I don't tipically like mexican food but so many of our friends had said this was the place to go. It is a hole in the wall and it must be family owned because the young lady who sat us was young. We got a bunch of different food and we didn't spend much at all. They totally worked with us (I only wanted to try one taco) I can't even begin to tell you how good the food was. We were so full. They also give you really big drinks! We can't wait to go back and try more food.
(5)Warren L.
A true hole in the wall. My wife was not a fan of the mish mash decor and somewhat sticky table, but I considered it all part of the mom and pop northglenn restaurant experience. For me, I love good service, good food, and authentic Mexican music in the background. You get all of that at Jerezano. Our waiter was super friendly and attentive. Our salsa was way too salty and he apologized profusely and brought us some green chili as a substitute. I had the carnitas and just like some other posts said, it was super tender and flavorful. The margaritas were very good too. As Arnold Swartzeneger would say, I'll be back.
(4)Daniel R.
Great portion sizes, good food, and cheap too. What's not to love?
(5)Abby W.
Ok. I finally found what I will be ordering here from now on. I FINALLY remembered that I wanted the Chicken Chimichanga!! I also had a bean tostada and it was perfect. Everything I wanted and I take back every negative thing I said about the beans... They were having a bad day last time. This time they were bringing their bean-game. EXCELLENT! We went here on cinco de Mayo. I was afraid it was going to be packed since it's a smaller place, but there was definitely room for us! The waitress offered to half the pitcher of margarita since I was the only one who would be drinking it, so I ended up tanked off of 4-5 enormous (and strong!) margarita servings. Thank you, El Sabor Jerezano for my headache the next day... Totally worth it. The waitstaff is seriously totally awesome! I can't WAIT to go back!
(5)Richard S.
Awesome sized portions for a reasonable price. Also i was impressed with the quality, authenticity, and selection offered. Im from California and its hard to find GOOD mexican food in a state where Texmex is the popular norm. Score!!
(4)Stan P.
Do you like small hole in the wall places? Do you like family run mexican restaurants? If so, El Sabor might be the place for you. They have the best Pasole I have had in the Denver area.
(4)Alison T.
Love the tacos!!! Our favorite place to go.... Family run, hole in the wall. Great little spot! Delicious, authentic food!
(5)Jaclyn B.
I have been here three times. Everytime I get the fish tacos. Everytime I ask for jalepenos and I have to pick them off because it is so spicy! But tasty! Large menu. Everyone I have been with enjoys there meal as well- feels very authentic.
(4)S S.
I wanted to like this hole in the wall but it just wasn't that great. Got the chicken chimi and it was loaded with only chicken, and too much of it, and no beans. The chicken tasted like it was from a can. The green chili was pretty good as far as it had a good kick and peppery but was basically just a liquid with no solids.

I was looking for a new Mexican restaurant by my work for dinner. I had selected another place but a coworker stopped me and told me that I had to come here. I am so glad that I did! The menu had so many items that looked and sounded delicious that it was hard to choose. We were both starving so he got a smothered tamale and chicken enchiladas. He loved the tamale. There was a thin layer of masa and the chicken inside was seasoned perfectly. It was one of the best he has had in Denver so far! He is from southern California so he is used to really good Mexican food. He said the enchiladas were really good and that he could eat them every day. He said it was all about that sauce. It was so flavorful. Not super spicy like other people have said. They were full of well seasoned chicken. He wants to try all the varieties of enchiladas that they have. I got the carnitas plate and chicharon and beans. No cheese on anything for me. The chicharon were really good! Crispy and salty fried pork..you can't beat that. I love beans but I never eat them anymore but I always try a bite just to see if they are good. Omg these were amazing! They rival my moms refried beans but I would never tell her that! The carnitas were so good. They come smothered in green chili with a side of guacamole and shredded lettuce with chopped jalapeños, tomatoes, and cilantro, and beans and rice of course. They were amazing. Huge chunks of pork seared and braised for what must have been forever because they were so tender. They were also well seasoned and it will be hard not to get that plate when I return. The green chili wasn't hot but had great flavor. It was really good and I think it was the best Mexican meal I have had in Colorado. My boyfriend wants to come back once a week. I am going to kiss the guy that told me about this place! It is truly a hidden gem. Thank goodness for my new job in the area so that I get to experience new restaurants. I can't wait until next Friday!
(5)Tony F.
We decided to try the place for the first time after getting a coupon from the entertainment guide. My girlfriend REALY loved the shredded beef burrito and my meal was solid! I give it 4 out of 5 for simple reason is you can tell it was a busy night, the odor of grease from cooking was evident. It wasn't a bad smell but it was strong enough to take notice and few minutes to adjust. The two people who helped us were very attentive!
(4)Justin M.
This place seems unassuming. It's sandwiched between a dollar tree and a scuba shop. Why there is a scuba shop in a strip mall in Northglenn, I do not know. I don't think the sign out by the road even says El Sabor Jerezano, it just says "Mexican food." After eating here, I think they ought to show a little more pride. I went with a chicken chimichanga and my lady got the taco salad. Let me tell you, both of these dishes were ginormous. I think they molded the taco salad on a basketball it was so freaking huge. Not only are the dishes huge, but they are very tasty as well. My chimi was nice and crispy, and the chicken inside was deliciously seasoned. My girlfriend also enjoyed her taco salad but, of course, couldn't come close to finishing it in one sitting. The chips and salsa were also very good. The salsa seemed to have different tastes depending on where you scooped out of the bowl. There was some cilantro here, some lime there, some heat over there in the corner; and every bite was tasty tasty. The fella who waited on us was great. He was helpful, friendly, and always at tableside when it looked like we needed anything. With 2 meals, we walked out paying about 20 bucks total, which is a great price for the quality and quantity of food we recieved. I'm definitely coming back here and I'm excited that I found a badass mexican restaurant only a few miles from my house.

Excellent lunch. I ordered the carne adobada. Marinated pork and a whole lot of it. I was so good, seasoned well, not too spicy with the jalepenos, I think I got 3 huge pieces of pork. And of course it came with tortillas, guacamole, potatoes or rice and refried beans. But the pork, guac, potato and beans in the same bite, and there is some dancing in the mouth. I really like their beans. I got two meals out of mine and it was less than $12. He got the carne tacos which looked like a pound of meat on several tortillas, the meat was tender and it came with rice and beans. I would go for the potatoes over the rice, since you do have a choice. The flan was fantastic, please get the flan as well. Yum, yum.
(5)Kristin S.
Wonderful Mexican food! I love that you can choose either Mexican potatoes or rice with your meal. The staff was great just as the other reviews assured us they would be. We had house margaritas with our meal and they were strong and tasty. Definitely a great find and I'm thankful for the other yelp reviews that encouraged me to take a chance on this little place.
(4)Art M.
If you like Tex-Mex style food this is it... You have to try the homestyle green chile.. w/ chunks of pork and small slices of potatoes, chile, and spices it's very good and HOT! it's their best entree but if you can't handle the heat then it's probably not for you..then you should stick to the other stuff,.. burritos, tacos etc.. Remember this place it's all about the homestyle green chile plate! It's clear your sinuses!
(3)Sarah P.
Great food, very nice staff and well worth the money!
(4)Ian V.
Good food at a good price and big portions. Friendly staff and vibe (one of the waiters gave my 2 year old a free little toy!).

Jeez Louise! The above should serve as an all-encompassing exclamation for this review. First, the food here is delicious. After the last visit I asked one of the servers if they had a room in the back I could rent. I should've mentioned earlier that I'm a BIG mexican food snob. I've always enjoyed mexican food and took the opportunity to explore many authentic and delicious joints in San Diego and even Tijuana when I lived there. Yes TJ, if you get past Revloution the city is not too bad. Nothing like Juarez. But I digress . . . After living in Denver for nearly 3 years I'd nearly given up on finding anything comparable. I did enjoy 3 Portrillos on Colorado until they closed (with a small sign on the door that said "Closed for economy"), good but not excellent. El Sabor IS excellent, some of the best mexican food I've found anywhere. The second exclamation is for the other reviewers with posts here. 3 stars? Come on! This is NOT a Tex-Mex place at all. They do have a wider assortment of dishes than your standard Mexican place which sometimes makes ordering difficult, especially if you're hungry. But there are some great authentic dishes that you'll find anywhere in the central peninsula. Though you may not see many "mexicano customers" here, I attribute this to the location (Northglenn). The owners are a family with their children pitching in and much Spanish being spoken in the back of the kitchen. If you like good mexican food, check this place out. Just not all at once, I don't like to wait for tables.

In the strip mall that houses a Dollar General, the Colorado Cue Club, and Mandarin Garden Buffet besides others there's a little bit of Mexico up in here too. Went there with a crowd of twelve + and enjoyed it. It's that blend kind of a joint with both the combination type g-mex dinners and some other stuff with more sabor to it. The waitress said the mexican steak that was on special was how she'd proceed so I followed. Pretty good not real thick slice of rib-eye slathered with fried onions and a whole fresh roasted chile layed nicely on top. Plenty of rice, frijoles and fried potatoes on the plate too. My bud come back from Jersey for a visit ordered the same only he got a roasted 'peno too on his plate. No 'peno on mine. There went a 1/2 star. No sting to my fresh roasted chile and light on the seasonings too okay there went the other half. There were tacos, carnitas, burritos, more tacos, steak, tostadas, plates of frijoles and rice being quickly dispatched around the table and then came the, "shit I'm stuffed" noise from everyone and then plates of sopapillas rolled out of the kitchen all hot and cinnamony and their was brief silence followed by more noise. Pretty much a non-verbal agreement that this was an okay place. No mexicano customers while we were there though. Comprende?

We were visiting the Northglenn area and found this restaurant using the Yelp app. We had a great experience. Our group was large (6 adults, a senior, a young child, and a toddler) and even though the restaurant is fairly small, it was able to accommodate us with no problems. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The free appetizer tortilla chips were crispy and the salsa was nice and spicy. Those in our group who ordered margaritas said they were strong and tasted good. The beer selection is not extensive but includes the standard Mexican varieties. We ordered a bunch of different dishes (tacos, combo plates, chicken in mole, fajitas) and everyone said theirs was excellent. The portions were also very large. We had flan and sopapillas for dessert, both of which were also great. Needless to say, we were very satisfied with the experience and would highly recommend this restaurant. Will we certainly visit it again if we are in the area.

No other mexican restaurant compares. I LOVE this place and have never had better mexican food any where else...and I've tried. It just doesn't exist.
(5)John O.
Went to El Sabor Jerezano for the 1st time to try the Mexican Food. From start to finish it was a wonderful experience. Starting with some of the BEST chips and salsa EVER with just the right amount of kick. Then on to our main courses, and then finishing with their excellent Flan. It was the Best Mexican meal we've had in a long time.. Sylvia was a wonderful host. With a beautiful personality... We will be Back !!
(5)Kay E.
Best huevos rancheros! Get fried potatoes instead of rice & a michelada.
(5)Brad H.
Pretty darn good. Very original type restaurant. Good green chili, little divey but cute. Mexican musical playing in the background has a very authentic feel
(4)Jennifer S.
Me gusta mucho! Came on a Sunday at 11:00. We had the place to ourselves for an hour, and then it filled up fast. It is definately divey. Some of the booths have rips, the bathrooms are in bad shape, etc. Cheesy Mexican music is pumped through the speakers, but they did have football on the tube. My husband and I have a long running argument about the proper tortilla chip. I like them thick, he likes them paper thin. I was in luck here. The homemade salsa had quite a kick, too. I got the pork green chili, somewhat spicey with thick tender pork chunks. Yum! My son got the kids taco plate. He was intimidated by the taco because it had potatoes mixed in with the beef. I tasted it, and I'm sure he would have destroyed it if he'd given it a chance. Super tasty. My daughter got the chicken fingers with fries. She got nearly a whole breast in tasty crunchy coating. Our waiter said they didn't make them in house, that they come from Shamrock. My husband's Margarita was perfect, not too sweet. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars was that the service was weird. They brought our meals out separately, a minute or two in between each. I had to hunt down out waiter for a tea refill. Nice staff, and our order was perfect, they brought straws and ketchup and all that, but could have been better.

Based on a favorable review at this site I stopped her for brunch on Saturday craving huevos rancheros. I was directed to a booth with only two other groups dining. One table group were mainly focusing on Margs. The usual chips and salsa arrived - the salsa was deliciously above par. My entree arrived on a rather large plate with the eggs smothered in green chile stew. I'm not sure if red chile is an option but the waiter appeared to be favoring the green so i went with that. I really wanted to dip the warm tortillas in the warm oozy yolk but that didn't happen. I cut into hard cooked yolks. (picture cartoon balloon deflating, Womp Womp Wah). The server didn't reappear for quite sometime so i ate some of the chile and rice, both were just okay. the refritos were questionable in flavor. I mentioned to the waiter when he brought my check that my dish had overcooked eggs when I had ordered over easy. He made a face and said "sorry". No attempt to correct was offered. When the name of the entree includes the item that was a significant fail, and all that is offered is a shrug is so not cool. the one star is for the salsa alone, not even the chips.
(1)Ed B.
The carnitas are done so perfectly! They are a touch crispy, super juicy and fall apart at the touch of the fork! The ribeye was not good...but they quickly apologized for the sub par quality and brought us a new dish.
