Armadillo Border Grill & Cantina Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

I went in there this past Sunday around noon. We were starving and thought we'd get faster/better service if we sat at the bar. Plus, we wanted to watch the football game. The service was probably the worst I have had in years. The bartender seemed to have a lot of tables, but she had absolutely no sense of urgency at all. She was wandering slowly around the bar and her section as if she only had two guests. Drinks took forever, she didn't bring water until the third time we asked, didn't offer menus or a refill on salsa, and she let our adult beverages sit empty for almost 15 minutes. Everyone in her section had empty drinks, so at least we didn't feel singled out. The huevoes rancheros were good, and served hot. Portions were skimpy, but the price wasn't terrible.

Very good margaritas and food was great. Would come here again. Service was very good!

Food is always enjoyable but sometimes the service can be a little slow even when the restaurant itself isn't busy. My go-to treat is a peach or mango margarita along with their shrimp fajitas!

We expressed critical dietary concerns and were treated with great care by the management and staff. We have become Armadillo regulars.

Amazing staff & food. So friendly and helpful. Really catered to us as out of towners lol. Will definitely recommend to anyone who has Mexican food on the mind. :))))

Great food and great service! I ordered a dish that did not mention that it had meat in it. I mentioned it to the server and he quickly created a dish for me that was vegetarian. Great service and the food was very good! Prices were very reasonable.

I've grown up eating at the Armadillo, even tried my first taste of salsa there! We went on New Year's Eve with our small kids (my daughter loves the salsa as well). Our server, Ryan, was efficient and attentive, even though the place was packed. I've always loved their food, and that night was no exception. We're thinking of making the Armadillo a New Year's Eve tradition!

I am not a vegetarian, but they have the absolute BEST spinach enchiladas around. I have ordered this at several Metro Denver Mexican restaurant's and Armadillo has the best. Service has always been good.

For simple tex mex. This is the place. The building is old. But they do their best with what they have. It is true when the doors are open, the flies go to the windows. Sit away from them so they are not a bother. Rather than combo plates try the turnover or stuffed sopapilla, if the food is boring it may be that you are ordering the boring fare or combo plates...Try out something new.. It always comes out hot. I appreciate the service, any problem has always been made right. I would give 4 or 5, but do agree that the restaurant needs some TLC. But in this economy, I can understand a delay. Again---IF you are upset with something, tell them... This is what I love--They will help you out in anyway..

Came in here for my mother's birthday since she wanted to come. I usually like this restaurant but my experience tonight was terrible! I would like to premise that everyone in my family has worked in restaurants at one point or another, so we understand that people get busy or that there will be nights where it's understaffed. Tonight seemed to be one of the latter issues since our server was sat 10 tables at once. Everything started out fine and the server did take a little longer than normal to get back to us to take our order and we had to ask for new drinks after sitting empty for 10-15 minutes, but as I said, he was obviously slammed all at once, so that was understandable. Our server's section was slammed but the restaurant itself was not so none of really understood why our food was taking so long. (It took about 45 minutes for it to arrive) But once we got our food it made sense. It had obviously been done for a while but had been sitting under the heat lamp for who knows how long. This was evident by the fact that my over-easy huevos rancheros were now cooked to over hard, my re-fried beans were dried out and hard and my nephew's grilled cheese was cold, hard and rubbery. I ate my eggs but not much of anything else on my plate and we realized that my nephew's grilled cheese was an issue when we noticed that he was having a hard time chewing it. We asked our server for a new one and he apologized and said he would order a new one right away. A few minutes later we stopped the manager to ask for some sour cream and when he came back he asked how everything was. My sister mentioned that there was an issue with the grilled cheese and he said that the reason it was cold was because "if we serve it too hot then the children might burn their fingers." My sister said she would rather it be too hot than too cold, to which he replied "Well, then you could sue us..." My sister then started to let him know that there was an issue with my food as well but as she was explaining it to him, he just walked off mid-sentence and completely ignored her. Our server said that he put in the new grilled cheese but after 15 minutes and no grilled cheese (My sister is a kitchen manager by the way, she knows that a child's grilled cheese takes 5 minutes to make, tops.) we just told him to cancel it. I just want to say that our server was fine and he didn't do anything wrong (The poor guy was dripping with sweat, he was working so hard to keep up) but the manager/possibly the kitchen was our biggest issue. The manager had no regard for his customers and didn't even feign an apology. Since my whole family has worked in the food industry, we would of been fine with a sincere apology; It wasn't like we were looking to get our whole bill removed or anything. But we couldn't even get an apology out of the manager or even his attention for that manner. Also, any manager worth his salt would of helped our poor server with refilling drinks, taking orders or running food or SOMETHING instead of letting his server get in the weeds like he did. But he didn't seem to have any concern for his staff either. I just really hope that they replace this manager at some point.

What? Did I read this right, a FREE Margarita for checking in on YELP and extra spicy green chili - all in one visit. (Cue the Angels singing). I love Armadillo's green chili, the color, the consistency, the flavor and the spice. Then they kick it up a few notches with an extra spicy selection without losing any flavor. What they've done is make you crave the next the bite, as that little bead of sweat starts down your nose...and of course warrants the next margarita purchase. Spicy green chili, great service, affordable dishes and phenomenal margarita selections are the reasons I continue to go back.

Been a favorite since 2003. Love the queso and chorizo dip. It is my favorite appetizer at this location. Ultimate margaritas have become a nice addition to a three piece create-a-combo.

5 star salsa (I love it cold) and 4 star cheese dip. Big fan of the chili relleno and green chili sauce. Décor could use an upgrade (been going there for 12+ years now), and some of the booths look tired and worn down. I still enjoy their food, servers are better than average, and it is pretty good Colorado Mexican food!

I hadn't been here in a couple years and it was better than I remembered. The food was fantastic and quick! They have always had the best salsa around. I will definitely be coming back in the near future. I gave it 4 stars because the service was a bit slow at the end. I wanted to order some to go food and the server had disappeared for about 30 minutes before he came back to the table. Other than that, the experience was enjoyable.

So I am going to be honest. Our waitress was very nice and helpful. Her 'assistant' overdid the 'do you need anything' and came by our table about 10 times. It was nice but the poor guy was so stressed. It took FORever for our queso to come out and twice as long for our food. 2 tables who came in and ordered after us were served before we were. The waitress acknowledged it and told us that someone else had taken our food. Ok. Fine. She said she'd talk to her manager. My salad had SO much dressing on it that I couldn't eat it. The waitress's sent it back and the one I got was really good. I was disappointed that after all the trouble we had that the manager never came to the table and the only thing offered was free dessert. Our experience was pretty bad. We were nice and realize that it wasn't the waitresses fault but really felt like the manager didn't care that we had so many issues. The food was good but our experience may make it such that we wouldn't return.

The service was slow. The waitress wasn't very nice. The food was terrible. We won't be back again.

We stopped in here while we were buying a car across the street. The place was really slow for a Saturday lunch. The service was okay, and the food was nothing to really go crazy for. I really did like the salsa, it was spicy yet had a lot of flavor. I would say if you are in a pinch that is an A-Okay spot to have lunch.

I love the food at Armadillo. We have been eating there for 25 years. We try other mexican restaurants but always go back to Armadillo. Service is always top notch. Prices are reasonable. Free endless chips and salsa. Salsa is really tasty! I like spicy green chili and their extra hot green chili is sooo yummy and hot. Portions are big. When I leave I am stuffed. The lacking 1 star is because they have the music waaaay too loud. I ask them to turn it down and I'm told they aren't allowed to. Once in awhile I will get a server to turn it down. We will continue to be regular customers.

Very upset after my dining experience tonight, servers were friendly appetizer came out quickly, but when we received our food (I ordered the southwest egg rolls) there was a very putrid smell that accompanied them, being as I'm pregnant I thought maybe it was just my picky sense of smell I went ahead and took a bite, realizing that it wasn't just the smell I notified the waiter had him smell it he immediately took it and agreed they were rancid. I ordered something else no big deal it came out fine. How very unsafe that they served someone food that had been long past due to be thrown out. Then to boot get the check and not so much as taking a soda off. Now when I go out I expect to pay for my food and leave a generous tip but when you could have sent someone to the emergency room because the food you serve them is rotten I would appreciate a sorry and some kind of righting of this wrong. Praying I don't get sick tonight. Ugh!!!! If I could give negative stars I would.

We used to love dining here. The food was delicious and hot and the service friendly. Our last few visits have been lackluster and we have not been back in months. The hostess seems annoyed and the server/bartender never smiles and usually has a section way too large to tend to while making drinks for the entire restaurant. The food is now mediocre at best and if the bartender/server had time to come to my table and check on things -including my long empty glass- we could have told her. Instead we asked a manager for the bill and ended up paying cash as the server never came to run our card.

Good food, lots of it. I like their white sauce. Wait staff attentive. Great atmosphere...lots of booths for privacy. Although their cocktails are on the weak side and a bit pricey.

The Aurora location is alive and well! I was on vacation last week and visiting my brother, he informed me that the Armadillo in Aurora is still there, so off to lunch we went. Great! Loved it!

So torn on this place. The hosts and busser staff are fabulous and on top of things, keeping our drink and chips/salsa filled, finding our seating right away. The servers themselves are hit or miss. Some are wonderful and make eating these a pleasure: others are so disconnected that I actually had to walk a bad plate back to the kitchen to find someone to fix it for me. I'm also really frustrated. For months, various servers told me the cilantro rice, black beans and enchilada sauce were vegetarian. Recently, the head server (who has worked there for over 10 years) told me all of the rices use chicken stock, as does the enchilada sauce. She told me the black beans are vegetarian, as are the Healthmark red and green chilis (which I had not heard of before, so she brought me a sample of each). I cannot understand how so many different servers had wrong/erroneous info about something so commmon, and something that could have serious reactions. Jury is out. May it try it again one more time to give it a last chance (again, the bus/drink/chip service is awesome), but not in any hurry to do so.

The owner let us in late last night for dinner, five minutes before close, and was very gracious and hospitable. My wife had just returned from a trip to Europe and was craving Mexican food. The owner spent time asking my wife about her trip and was great to my whole family. After that, the food and service was excellent. Thanks for a great welcome home experience!

I love this restaurant. If you have a chance get Ramon, he is a wonderful waiter! You can get as much chips and salsa as you want. Salsa is a bit watery but has flavor and chips aren't baked in house. I've tried everything on the menu and I have a few favorites. The penne pasta, and the stuffed poblano relleno is delicious! Oooooo don't forget the chicken and sour cream tostada. I really like the brunch buffet on Sunday's as well.

Service was marginal. Water glass empty 3 times. Food was plentiful but the chimi needed extra green chili. Charged $1.75 for what should have been an apology for skimping. Probably won't return. Pretty expensive for what you get.

Update: Removing the review I originally wrote because the manager of the restaurant reached out and profusely apologised for our experience. That care of customers alone reflects highly with me so I'm altering my review. While I can't take them up on their offer to make things right, as I don't live in town and was just passing through, I will not give up on their establishment.

Spending the day north with my family in town. My brother decided he wanted to go to a place they used to go quite often when he lived here. Enter the Armadillo. It was a Monday Lunch so it was a little quite when we got there, but as we stayed more and more showed up. It is a pretty busy lunch place. The Deal of the day was a Yelp deal of 15 for 30. I bought that baby right away!! The do have a pretty large menu of choices. That is one thing about Mexican food. With some basic ingredients, the combinations are endless. I had the fajita sandwich. I couldn't decided what I wanted so it seemed to fit the bill. It was cooked and seasoned really well and full of cheese. It was sort of like having a steak Quesadilla on a roll instead of between 2 tortillas served with fries. My niece had a Quesadilla from the kids menu. It was way bigger then I would have thought for a child's portion. It was service with rice and beans. We traded out a little of her rice for some of my fries. The rice was definitely lack luster. I guess never really knowing what it's supposed to taste like, it's hard to judge what you should be getting. Can't remember what my brother had, I was too busy with my niece. We decided on desert as well, I guess this was what he was really after. Sopapillas They were actually very good, not greasy and sprinkled with some powdered sugar and served with honey. Get the basket, they are more reasonable that way then individuals. Over all it was a nice experience.

Really a nice restaurant experience. The waiter was very good and attentive and the queso was very tasty. I had the burrito bowl with shredded chicken, black beans and green chili. YUM!

Went there for happy hour drinks and food. The margaritas were weak and watered down. Asked the server if they were made fresh and he said they are made in the morning because it's too busy to make them per order. What a joke. The place wasn't even that busy. Food was dry and not that tasty. I would just pass this place up unless you are starving.

Came to try a New Mexican restaurant.....they failed big time! Our waitress wasn't aware that my husband's beer glass was empty for 15 minutes until the bartender came to ask if we needed anything. My husband tried their taco dinner....it was the worst tacos we ever ate! I had their Machaca nachos, which they said was spicy, but it wasn't! It was the jalapeños in pico de gallo that was spicy! I haven't found jalapeños that spicy before! Needless to say we won't be ever coming back here again! If you're in the area, check out El Mirador on Huron St!!!!

I'm a regular at Armadillo's and have to admit I get the same thing every time. I love the Armarito smothered in extra hot green chili with a side of roasted jalepeno's. Yum Yum! The restaurant is old and needs fixing up but the prices are good and th food is too. Shanon is my normal server and is always friendly and makes sure my meal is how I like it.

This is a scary scary place. So you know when you get that gut feeling something is wrong and you should leave. We got that. Ignored it. And now we pay. The entrance smelled like a sewer system exploded all over. The first 3 tables we sat at we dirty. 3. The last one was dirty too but I was sick of moving. Cob webs on light fixtures. Sticky disgusting table. We haven't even ordered yet. The servers all used bare hands to get chips. Hmm The place is honestly pricy for the portions. And the food just is plain boring. I was charged when I asked for my green chili on the side. 1.50. That's kinda shaddy. The server at least was good but the rest of it was pretty horrible. Will never ever return. Ever.

Eek! Smells like a toilet when you walk in. Not just any toilet either, but one of those really bad toilets. (industrial cleaner and funk) We were able to sit out on the patio. One other couple was there. It was mid afternoon so I wouldn't expect any place to be packed but it was a ghost town in there. Ordered 1 happy hour beer eat and they brought out the dreaded over cooked, stale chips and watery tomato paste like salsa. We ordered the nachos supreme because neither of us saw anything on the menu that remotely peaked our interest. We realized this was going to be rough after our run in with the chips and salsa... yup, they surely are consistent. Couldn't see anything put a giants mound of semi melted cheese over everything. We are about a quarter of it and by then everything was so soggy you couldn't even grab a chip. We finished our beers (that tasted like they were sitting in the purge lines all day) paid or bill and got the heck out of there.

Went here a few days ago and it was very well. I was a little skeptical after seeing some of the past reviews. I'm not sure of the conditions in the past but over all my experience was a good one. I have two chili rellenos and a tamale. The rellenos were very good but the tamale had way too much dough and very little meat. My girlfriend had a chimichanga, which she enjoyed very much. Oh, don't forget to leave room for the sopapillas they are awesome!

One of the few places open on Christmas, we went here for dinner and I'm really glad we did. The waiters and staff were very friendly and our food came out super quick. Each thing we ordered came out as ordered- delicious and fresh. Everything was hot and the portions were large. We were definitely satisfied and will definitely be coming back!

My fajitas were burned, and the booth seats were torn, the food took way too long to arrive, and the carpet was dirty. But the yelp deal ($15 for $30 instant deal) made it worth the two stars, because 3 of us ate and drank for $40.

I have been to other Armadillo locations, and I'm fairly aware of how their menu is built. So, we drive down to this location, with a few friends who were visiting us from out of town. I ordered the chilli relleno (one of my all time favorites). Now, I'm a vegetarian and I know their green chili has pork in it. So, I asked the server to smother the relleno with enchilada sauce instead. Food arrives, and there's big huge chunks of pork all around. I sent it back, repeating my order again. Take two: Dry chili relleno and salsa on the side. I am not the best culinary brain out there, but I know the difference between salsa and enchilada sauce. Finally a cup of enchilada sauce arrives for me to smother it on its own. I had finished eating the relleno by then. We spoke to the manager...didn't want to make a fuss, especially since we had guests. But, gosh, c'mon, no one was even slightly apologetic. I have never been there since, and would probably not go there again.

My husband and I were passing through Colorado, staying in the small town of Northglen. The hotel we stayed at recommended going to the Armadillo for dinner, so we decided to try it out. We received outstanding service from Joel and ordered what he recommended, which was the blue corn enchiladas with steak and my husband had the steak ranchero. The food was nothing short of amazing. Unfortunately, we almost walked out and missed out on what turned out to be a fabulous dinner. When we first walked in, we were approached by an older gentleman who was wearing a suit, whom I assume was the manager. He immediately took us to a table, after blowing his nose and carrying our menus and silverware with the same hand he used to blow his nose with (we asked our server for new silverware). Unbeknownst to us and obviously himself, he seated us in an unmanned station with no server. We sat and sat and nobody came by. I walked back up and let the man in the suit know that no one has come by our table yet, and he was very dismissive and rude to me and said in an unfriendly voice, "Somebody will be right with you." We could hear the manager address a server from where we were sitting, and I must say, the tone in which he was addressed was completely unwarranted and unprofessional. He was not only degrading in his verbiage to our server, he was on the border of being out of control, and I would even say abusive. The only reason we did not get up and walk out right then is because our server quickly came over and apologized. It was evident to my husband and I that our server clearly was the professional in this restaurant. As we were coming to an end of our dinner experience, that same guy in a suit came over to our table and picked up my plate (even though I wasn't finished yet) with the same hand he used to blow his nose. After seeing this, the last thing I was going to do was to ask for my plate back. I was disgusted and shocked at the manager's unprofessional behavior. Needless to say, I doubt we will be frequenting the Armadillo again due to this so-called manager's ridiculous behavior. We travel to Colorado often with many colleagues, and definitely will be spreading the word to stay clear of the Armadillo, unless it's a to-go order. It's unfortunate, but it only takes one person to ruin the experience, especially when the food was as good as it was.

West there yesterday and got a chicken chimichanga. I'm not sure how its supposed to come but I had to pay extra for the beans, the sour cream and the guacamole. Added an extra $4 onto a $9.50 chimichanga that was less than half the size of what you would get at other places, without having to pay extra for all that stuff. Decorations inside are really freakin weird. I'm not going back.

So, as usual I decide I have to try the enchiladas. In the past this was always the way I have graded Mexican. This is the last place I am going to do it at. Again! I am foiled by CO enchilada sauce. NEWSFLASH! I'm in Colorado! They just do things differently here! So, going with the fact that they have CO Mexican here, I'll try to judge accordingly. I ventured out this time and got a combination platter - 1 shredded beef enchilada (surprisingly yum) 1 cheese enchilada (pretty tasty) and 1 chile relleno (crispy goodness!). The chips are warm but still taste like they come from a bag. Seriously! Is it so hard to make fresh chips? Is there a corn tortilla shortage I don't know about? The accompanying salsa was alright... a bit watery but had some flavor. I could eat it but I wouldn't want to buy any and take it home or anything like that. Overall the food was pretty good though, so I can't really complain. The interior gives me the feel of a chain restaurant without any flair. It's all boring and dull. There are video games and claw machines that keep ringing and blinking obnoxiously in the background - right above my friend's shoulder. Distracting but tolerable. It's just... another Mexican place that doesn't hit it home. Can I give it a 2.5? It's always tough when a place is right in the middle... I wanted to give it a 3 because of the service but the cost... so over priced! I guess I will keep looking. --- Note, there was no smell to the place. For the previous reviewers, you will be happy to know that whatever it was, it looks like they fixed it.

I enjoyed my margarita, the service was great, the place was very clean and perhaps most importantly I loved the enchiladas and the fajitas. Not sure how this place keeps getting low ** cause I had zero problems and really enjoyed everything and I'm not easy to please when it comes to my Mexican food.

Had two combo plates of 3 items each (make your own "CREATE-A-COMBO" from a choice of burritos, tacos, tostadas, enchiladas, and rellenos all with a wide choice of ingredients) and an plate of sopapillas with honey. They also provided two free baskets of chips and salsa. The food was good, filling and reasonably priced. Although we only had water the waiter kept our glasses full, as well as continuing to provide chips and salsa, so I felt the service was excellent!

Not sure why all the bad reviews. I've been coming to this restaurant for years and have never had an issue. Last night was no exception. Brought my fiance for the first time and she is a huge mexican food person. Started off with the marg and it was amazing. Just ordered a simple house marg. Chips and salsa were great! My supreme burrito came with the extra hot green chile and was awesome!! Just enough spice to get me sweating a little, but still leaving the flavor!! Service was fast and with a smile! I'll be back again and again and again!!

VEGETARIANS BEWARE!!! As a long-time vegetarian I am always careful to let the server know we are vegetarians and to ask if what we are ordering has any animal products in it such as lard, pork, chicken, etc. As usual, I did this at Armadillo and the server assured all of us that everything we were ordering was, in fact, completely vegetarian. When my daughter's food came out with refried beans, I asked for them to please bring a fresh plate with black beans as ordered. The server seemed a bit nervous about this (maybe because she was not a good server at all and was possibly on probation?) so she quickly ran in the back and out came the manager. No big deal, right? Just give us a fresh plate with black beans, right? Nope, too much to ask for at this place. The manager came out with an attitude carrying a plate where all they had done was scrape the lard-ladened refried beans off as best as they could and then attempt to cover it up with the black beans which were smeared and mixed with the refried pinto bean "sauce." The manager was EXTREMELY RUDE. She saw nothing wrong with the refried beans still mixed in with my daughter's black bean--in a dish that we were assured was "COMPLETELY vegetarian," and, on top of that, she seemed to find it amusing that what her server told us was vegetarian turned out to have chicken broth in it. As soon as I realized the server had completely lied to us, I let the manager know we did not want our food. The manager actually wanted us to pay for uneaten meals which turned out not to be vegetarian friendly--contrary to what her server told us--and she had the nerve to tell us that the server said we never mentioned that we were vegetarians (I guess "bothering" the server with clarification questions for two meals plus each item we substituted, like the black beans for the refried, and asking about the sauces and the rice, to be sure we were getting completely vegetarian meals with no lard, chicken, or pork products or bases, was not enough for this server). If we could give negative stars or no stars I would. Stay away from this place, the service is horrible, the management is rude, and they don't care if you have special dietary restrictions or requests. Plus, the few bites I had were horrible--not at all the Armadillo I remember from 15 years ago. Don't know what happened, but there are plenty of other restaurants in which to spend our money and have a good meal in a nice place with nice people who get it and who care about their customers--This is not that place. (this might explain why their other branches have gone out of business . . .)

OM NOM NOM! This is the best Mexican food I've had since moving to Colorado about a year ago. Generous portions, a festive atmosphere (less dusty neon pinatas and fluorescent lighting, more skylights and traditional Mexican art), and a courteous and attentive wait staff make this one of my favorite places to dine out. The carnitas are truly something to crave. Perhaps the best thing about Armadillo is the Sunday brunch buffet. Oh gawd. About half the restaurant is lined with buffet tables covered with about any kind of breakfasty-brunch food you can imagine. There's even an omelet bar. It's a bit pricy - around $20 per person, but it's effing worth it. You won't be hungry again til dinner time! Of course if you're on a tighter budget, you can always just order off the menu on Sunday instead. Just make sure you're not within eye-shot of the buffet. You'll regret not giving it a try.

Sweet Wife and I visited this Armadillo on Friday, about 5:15. We're always on the hunt for a good margarita, and usually order a higher end marg, but we saw on the menu: "Traditional Margarita: The One We are Famous For!". Our evidently depressed waiter brought out our frozen margs and ACK! Straight sweet & sour. Sent mine back and got a beer (figured they'd have a hard time screwing that up), and Sweet Wife put up with hers... she's not one to ever send stuff back. I'm -sort of- on a diet, so I was a good boy tonight and got a number 8... "Ranchero bean tostada, chicken enchilada and smothered Ranchero bean burrito. Low in fat, sodium, and cholesterol!". I got it with the "Healthy Dillo Green Chile". Well, Armadillo folks, I'm tickled you put a good boy item on the menu, but feel free to throw some spices in. Look up "bland" in the dictionary, and there's a picture of Armadillos's Number 8 right beside the definition. I for some reason expected refried beans, but these were whole pinto beans, and (ALERT: close your eyes for a minute if you can't bear gaseous atrocities) oh. my. goodness. The next day was a festival of rumblings and noise unlike none I'd ever heard in my life. Seriously could not come within spittin' distance of Sweet Wife. Divorce threats (even though I, of course, thought it was kinda' funny). So... warning: bring your Beano if you plan on having anything here with "beans". I'm not sure, but maybe I could've ordered with black beans. Sweet Wife's meal (enchiladas) came with black beans, which had onion mixed in with them and were pretty tasty. Lesson to be learned for this restaurant's management: Suggest to your employees that that they smile. Even a little. We had 4 different employees come by our table, and only the young lady who brought by the chips & salsa smiled. All others ignored our smiling faces and had big time frowny faces. If one employee isn't smiling, he/she might just be having a bad day. With 3 out of 4 not smiling, you have yourself a management problem. All in all, a big "Meh". Too many mexican restaurants around town with smiling faces, good food, and good drinks for us to visit here again.

DIRTY Restaurant in the dining room..I can only IMAGINE what the kitchen looks like. I have found dirty plates, dirty ceilings, its dusty and gross. This is unacceptable for a food place! Food was OK, a bit season-less.

It really is a shame when a restaurant with so much potential just can't seem to pull itself together. Initial visits to the Northglenn Armadillo were good, maybe even impressive. One of our favorites was their Queso dip, which was creamy with just the right amount of spice. Then, the problems started. We would arrive at the restaurant on a weekend night to find only a few tables seated, 3 servers running back and forth, a lot of customers waiting for tables, and a hostess who couldn't care less. On a later visit to their Sunday Brunch, the food basically tasted like leftovers from last night's dinner. The final straw came when my debit card was double-charged for a meal in which the Manager was apparently my server. In attempt to get a refund for the excess amount, I was told that I needed to go to my bank and get a watermarked copy of my account statement. I did this, brought it into the restaurant, and the manager had the nerve to insist that she keep that copy of my bank account statement...yeah, I don't think so. Upon me grabbing it out of her hands, she proceeded to call me a bitch (in front of other customers) and never once apologized for double-charging me in the first place. On the way out, I asked the hostess for the address and phone number of their corporate office. She rolled her eyes and said they aren't a chain restaurant (which is stupid because they had a sign on the wall behind her with the addresses of their other area locations). Overall, I left that restaurant completely astounded at how they treat their customers. I was also shocked to find a review on another website about how their credit card was double-charged as well. It's pathetic when a restaurant can't survive on its food quality and has to resort to lowball tactics like double-charging credit cards while hoping the customer won't notice. If you do decide to go to this place, good luck, and make sure you only pay with cash!

Not awful, but no great. OK. Prices are pretty high for the portions they bring out especially when you consider the quality of it which isn't great and actually a bit boring/bland. I would have been happier just paying for the chips/salsa and having that as my meal.

After running a couple errands, my boy-friend and decided to have lunch at The Armadillo. My boy-friend had gone a few times but I hadn't been before so it sounded like a great place to try. He told me good things about the place, even stating that it was better than Three Margaritas. When we arrived, the hostess sat us at the booth. I noticed that there was a Sunday buffet event going on with a variety of foods and desserts. We were pretty hungry but decided to order from the menu. My boy-friend tried the 3 combo meal with a chile relleno, enchilada, and burrito. I decided to try their stuff shredded pork sopapillas. Our waitress wasn't very welcoming when we asked for water - she basically rolled her eyes at us. Also, she took a while to bring us chips and salsa. She did get better as time progressed. Overall, the food was really delicious. One of the best that I've had in the Thornton/Northglenn. I will definitely go again, but I'd ask to be seated somewhere with a friendlier waitress.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
