India is the birth place of Chicken Tikka Masala and Curries. Indian foods are prepared with a blend of finely mixed spices quite popular across the region. The spices develop the rich taste in Indian food enough to boggle your mind. The ever-increasing fan base of Indian food around the New York city is steadily increasing because of the large number of Indians who traveled to the land of dreams. The Indians also brought their very own vibrant, colorful, and aromatic authentic dishes for the people in the West. While most of the Indian population is Vegetarian, Indian food is great for people who are looking for vegan or vegetarian food option. If you are a Meat lover, don't get disappointed yet. Indian food also boasts of some popular non-vegetarian dishes too. Few examples are the famous Butter Chicken, Mutton Biryani and Tandoori Chicken are enough to satisfy your taste buds.
Indian food has gained reputation all over the world especially in the United States. You can find many places serving the appetizing Indian food across all major cities in the US. India is a diverse country with different food culture originated from different parts of the country. While the Northern region boasts tandoori dishes and korma offering royal taste, the Western Ghats offers sea foods that is made in naturally sweet tender coconut milk. The South Indian food servers a quality of different dishes made from rice accompanied with spicy chutneys, curries and famous sambhar. Also, the Indian sweets are a delight to relish. If you ever want to have a burst of sugar syrup in mouth, don't forget to try few Bengali Sweets. Be it spicy, tangy, or sweet flavor, you can find everything in the Indian cuisine. Be assured that the melody of spices will surely bring delight to you.

This place is a sight for sore eyes in town whiter than styrofoam. The food is damn good, not quite nirvana, like can a brother get a touch more paneer with his saag. But I'm quibbling, it was quitting time and these Nepalese stalwarts were in chill mode. Much to dig late at night pondering the capacity of distant pilgrims to thrive in lands far far away. I ate like yogi coming off a hunger strike. Meanwhile, there is an array of sweaters and central Asian highland garb for sale if your crunchy cousins birthday is fast approaching!

We ate at this place a couple times in 2013 and it was really good. Then, we ate at the buffet in 2014 and it wasn't that great, but we chalked it up to "bad buffet food." Just recently we dined here for what I can safely say was our final time. Judging by other people's reviews, I don't think our recent experience was atypical; it sounds like the quality of the food and service has been steadily declining for a year. Wonder if it has anything to do with all of their money and effort being funneled into opening restaurant #2 in Boulder... The food: - The Combo Appetizer (onion, potato, and zucchini pakora; momos; samosas): Not a bit of seasoning in the batter for any of the items, and some of the vegetables were just mushy and gross. - Onion & cheese naan: Didn't have any onion it, and its texture, like the pakora, was mushy. It didn't have the nice, crisp texture that naan usually has; it had obviously been microwaved. Also, it goes without saying that it lacked salt/flavor, as well. - Chicken tikka masala: There was no cream or butter in the sauce, and it was watery as all get out. Also, it tasted of carrot -- I suspect they used carrot and sugar to flavor it instead of traditional spices. It was grossly sweet. The rice was plain white, overcooked rice -- no saffron, and no other spices whatsoever. The service: The people one booth over were locals and got the VIP treatment, complete with questions about their personal lives, multiple drink refills, and multiple questions about their meals. We, on the other hand, are not locals, thus I was never asked if wanted a second drink, and my fiancee had to keep inching his glass to the outer perimeter of the table in a silent plea for a single soda refill. No one asked us how the food was. Like someone else mentioned, no one seemed particularly interested in our experience at all. Multiple staff members sat idly at a nearby table doing nothing, and taking personal phone calls on their cell phones. We had to ask for the check from someone who wasn't our waiter, and when someone came to collect it, he looked at the money and said "Okay" to no one in particular. That was the end of our exchange with any of the staff. The (lack of) cleanliness: I think I was more forgiving of the apparent lack of cleanliness when the food actually tasted good. This most recent time, I couldn't help but notice the duct tape on the booths, all the black marks all over the walls on the north side of the restaurant (like they'd banged each and every piece of furniture against the wall in the process of moving into the building). . . And the flies. There were flies everywhere, and one almost landed in our tikka masala. I guess this is to be expected, since they leave the door to the dining room wide open. Oh, can't forget about the bathrooms: one of the toilets in the women's restaurant was overflowing with someone's, er, "movement," and there were no towels to dry your hands. In the men's, the urinals apparently hadn't been cleaned in a while, there was no hot water, and there were no paper towels, either. Just gross.

A little restaurant in the center of town. Surprised to find a Nepalese restaurant in such a small town and we were excited to have something different. The food was very mediocre / not good and since we were late for lunch they were low on the dishes (maybe not a bad thing). Even the white rice was not cooked well, how can you mess up rice? Not the cleanest dining room. We both felt nauseous after eating here or maybe it had to do with the altitude, not sure. Do not eat here, even if you're really hungry after a long hike like we were. I was surprised at the high star ratings here.

From the reviews, I was pumped. I love Ned, I love Nepalese/Indian food, and I mean buffet... Yeah! This had to be good. Wow. With every bite, the more I felt like Gordon Ramsay. BLAND! BLAND, BLAND, BLAND! I wouldn't serve this to my DOG! Well, maybe not the last one. But anything that was fried was super soggy, not crispy at all, and bland as hell. The meats were spiced, but even with lots of salt, bland as all get out. The food isn't good. At all. The location is great. I'd opt for the BBQ joint down the street, but if I had to come here again, I guess I'd be excited to see if my visit was an off day... but everyone else seemed to be loving it.

Sherpa Stew is the best. Overall food is pretty good, service is lacking and ambience isn't too bad. Good place to eat in Nederland.
(3)Eddie Q.
The food was decent, but the service was a bit of a miss. I can give them a break on this though due to how busy it was on a Sunday night and they appeared under staffed for how many guests they actually had. They even offered extra Samosas for the wait which was nice. What really bothered me was how run down and unclean parts of the building were. The men's toilet was leaking significantly with flies buzzing around. This concerned me about the overall restaurant, but not a big deal really. However, while we were waiting for the food we noticed a small mouse running around. I alerted the waitstaff and gave them the benefit of trying to do something about it, but again they were too busy to really bother with it. Considering no one else has reported seeing mice on here or other reviews I doubt that its a common occurrence, but it definitely ruined the experience for us. We still ate the food and didn't get sick or anything, but the thought of the mouse definitely made us cautious for the following 24 hours. Maybe the new Boulder location is in better shape.
(2)Nitin S.
Went for the lunch buffet. Below average food quality. Naans were not crispy, and pretty much every dish in the buffet lacked flavor. Restaurant was also looking run down. Glasses were old plastic and scratched, and tables were worn. Service was slow and not very good. I am not impressed.

Hidden treasure! I have tired so many Indian/Nepalese/Tibetan places in Denver and all over the earth and this place stands out. They are from Tibet or Nepal so it's more like northen Indian food with Chinese spin to it. The red chili oil they use to stir fry reminded me of SiChuan cooking. They also prepared the non-dairy Saag paneer. So many choices it was absolutely a feast for your stomach. Rarely I get to see buffet gets ready by the opening time but they are definitely not lazy. The only downside was a really crazy homeless lady that was sitting right in front of me and harassing all the passengers walking by.
(5)Tracy E.
Meh. This is not the best Nepalese buffet I've ever had. It's 12:30 and many of the dishes on buffet have already run out and have not been replaced. The food is not bad, but it's not great. Given the remote location and limited eating options, this is still a decent stop for lunch. Decor and service is lovely.
(3)Ida R.
We found this great Nepalese restaurant after a weekend of hiking near Ned. The other cafes close by were packed so decided to come here with the kids. Everyone loved their lunch buffet. Flavorful food but not too spicy. All the vegetarian options were fantastic. I did wish the saag had paneer but it was quite tasty. The chicken tandoori was a big hit with the kids too. Would definitely go back.
(4)Erica D.
My husband loves this place. We are lucky to have ethnic food up here, and a buffet at that. Not my cup of tea.
(3)David H.
Par none the best Napalese, Indian food I have ever had. It is my favorite thing to take a trip to Nederland with my fiancee and enjoy a romantic and delicious meal. They have wonderful couple specials, we love to go up there and enjoy Valentines meal. I strongly recommend you come here if you want to have a great staff take care of you, super friendly environment, and amazing food. What are you waiting for...?
(5)Carol F.
I have been coming here for 15 years and have always loved it. I believe the food's quality has suffered recently and after today's experience having to wait 15-20min to get the buffet fully replenished, I'm not sure I will go back anytime soon

We have lived in Nederland for almost 10 years, and we used to go eat here a lot. The past 2-3 years the food quality has gone downhill. So we didn't eat there in almost a year, and tonight we thought we'd give it one last try. Got two chicken korma meals to-go. Found they still are using the cheap thin metal pie pan food containers with thin plastic lids that leak (they used to use nice sturdy plastic snap containers with two compartments, one for rice other for the sauce/meal - they worked great!). Now with the cheap pie pan containers, I've seen the sauce served so hot that the thin plastic pie pan lids warp, which causes leaks, and the pans are flexible which makes them hard to handle when hot. Basically their new to-go containers make a mess. And they still don't give nearly enough rice for 2 meals (used to get just enough with the other plastic to-go containers). The korma sauce for our meals tonight was 'broke' where it was overcooked and the oil separated from the cream, creating a very oily sauce. And the bay leaves were broken up in the sauce, and difficult to remove all the small pieces, probably again due to being over cooked. And it was exactly like this the last time we ate there, almost a year ago! I guess we thought we'd try again, like maybe they improved, but they have not. The flavor was much more bland than we remembered it being too. The garlic naan was ok, though. I asked for tamarind sauce and didn't get it. I question their restaurant cleanliness now also, looks dirty behind the fenced area of the restaurant outside. We used to like their meals, we were regulars there for a while, don't know what happened there but we will not be returning.
(2)Valerie B.
Man, I loved the food and the the friendly atmosphere here. Should have checked this place out years ago and definitely going to return!
(4)Greg D.
Best Indian food in Boulder county! I stop there every time I'm in Ned!
(5)Shelby S.
I've eaten at a lot of Indian restaurants in my life and I can honestly say this is the worst one I've ever eaten at. Went for the lunch buffet and half the dishes hadn't been refilled, the sauces with cream separated and the rice was crunchy. The food is bland and insipid and the naan had the texture of taffy. The staff was pretty uninterested in our experience and seem unsurprised after we ate only a handful of food and left after ten minutes. Definitely won't be returning here.
(1)Veronica S.
Bad experience, very understaffed. After a long wait, they brought me the wrong food. The kitchen staff put the food down in front of me, told me to eat this dish, and next time order the same thing again in hopes I receive it. 2 Days later, I see they charged my credit card twice. Definitely do not recommend this place, and will not be going back to see if I can get the correct food..
(1)Jerad E.
Looks like I had a similar experience as others with the buffet running out of food and it never being restocked. Happened at dinner. We went thinking we'd order up a couple dishes. After sitting unattended for awhile, we flagged our server and he mentioned it was only buffet that night (a Friday). I was semi excited for an Indian buffet, but was scraping the pan for most items. We waited for buffet refills and they never came. The food was good. I enjoyed the eggplant and sweet potato curry, but I'll definitely be more cautious about surveying the buffet before sitting down next time.
(2)Modemme X.
Great food. Good service. Bad ambience. Think banquet hall. Not many choices up here though so that's what you get. Place is huge. Food is fresh. People are nice.
(3)Albert M.
I come to Nederland often to hike and backpack. Almost religiously after a long few days or weeks in the backcountry, I come here. After climbing some big mountains it just feels so right to be eating food from the Himalayas and the decor of this place reminds me of being in the middle of Nepal or Tibet climbing. This place is fantastically priced, the food is delicious, the service is good, and most importantly its consistent, I never seem to have a bad meal here. It's definitely a go-to spot if you're in Nederland. There's not much more to say. Also if you get a chance to hit up their buffet, do it, its amazing! It's only like $12 and you get to pig out on almost everything they have. It's an amazing thing they do once a week I believe.
(4)Jesse M.
My wife and I both enjoyed this restaurant for dinner, the lamb curry was quite tasty, and they also have a pretty decent vegetarian selection. The place does feel a little bit like a banquet hall or a cafeteria, but if you're feeling like Asian food, this place is way, way better than the Thai restaurant across the street.
(4)Brant B.
Best veg food I've had since returning from India. Kathmandu lunch buffet is delicious. Out of 12 or so dishes, I was able to find 8 or so that were veg and non-dairy. They even made a serving of non-dairy saag for me. The cabbage w/ jalapenos and the daal are my favorites. So flavorful. More than you can eat for $10.
(4)Natalie L.
Really bad food with service to match. We love Indian food and this is the worst we have ever had. One of the naan was literally burned, my chicken had such a sweet sauce that it was practically inedible, and much of the rest if the food did not have any flavor. The service was strange.... It took a long time to get anything and when we did they brought naan first and then several minutes later our appetizer arrived with our meals. The staff all looked miserable. We will not go back.
(1)Katie G.
My sister loves Kathmandu. She insists on eating here every chance she gets. I find it rather tasty, but I wish the food was presented differently. The staff is pleasant, but doesn't stick out as being overly friendly. We are thankful to have a Nepalese restaurant in Ned.
(4)MaryClaire F.
Stopped there for the lunch buffet today. Great food, excellent service! Wish I lived closer to Nederland! The samosas and the tikka masala were some of the best I've ever had.
(5)Devin H.
A family favorite. Quite possibly the best Indian food we have had outside India. Order the sweet potato masala!!!
(5)Cleo M.
I think Kathmandu is one of the gems of Nederland. My family that lives in Ned takes us here every time we visit and each time has been a pleasure; the food is delicious, the owners and staff are so helpful, friendly, and welcoming, and the prices are just right. That's a win in my book! This past visit I had the vegetarian chow chow, a savory and delicious noodle dish, but other dishes that my family members loved were the tofu aloo, the saag panir (you might think spinach and cheese as an entree will be weird but it's RIDICULOUSLY good), the sherpa stew, and the vegetarian dumplings whose official name has escaped me. This place is a win for vegetarians/vegans in particular because there is an entire page devoted to delicious veg options! Kathmandu also serves up a mean soy chai with regular chai available as well, both with unlimited refills(!). And, of course, the naan is delicious too! It does get warm in the restaurant--as it does in many places in the mountains--due to not having air conditioning, so eating on the patio might be a good option if the weather is nice. Either way, you are sure to enjoy your meal and get great service here.
(5)Lani S.
Nepal in the middle of the Rockies. Love this place. They have a fabulous buffet. Everything was very tasty. I will be back.
(5)Debbie P.
My first visit was incredible. We arrived at about 11:20am, and the buffet was fully stocked. The selection was amazing and the flavor was fantastic. The naan was slightly undercooked but overall a great experience. We will return.
(5)Kathy H.
Very tasty and authentic food, huge portions and great variety! The naan bread is so good, we usually order multiple orders (cheese, garlic, etc). The saag chicken and thupka are our favorites. Their buffet is also good because you can try a but of everything if you're not familiar with Nepalese food (similar to Indian). Stop by and you won't be disappointed !!!
(5)Margaret B.
This is my go to restaurant in Nederland. The food is consistent and the best Indian food I've had around the area. The lunch buffet is a great deal at $9! Best place in Ned in my opinion
(5)Dave C.
This place is AMAZING! Anytime friends or family visit Nederland I make it a point to take them to Kathmandu. Often times they are hesitant but once we sit down to our meals every single person I've eaten with here has absolutely loved their meal! Another amazing quality of this restaurant is their is something for everyone. I love spicy food (the spicier the better) and their Vindaloo & Chicken Chile are favorites of mine. Other who I've eaten with who do not like spicy food loved the more savory dishes like the Chicken Curry and vegetarian dishes. I always get the garlic Nan as a side and it is out of this world good! If you are in Nederland, do yourself a favor and get lunch or dinner at Kathmandu!
(5)Amanda L.
I recommend this with confidence to anyone who comes into town.
(5)Diarmuid M.
Lunch Buffett is incredible!
(5)Clay H.
We love Indian food and this place was outstanding. Chicken curry and chicken tikka masala - shared the dishes and couldn't decide which we liked more. Great naan as well.
(5)Christopher I.
Delicious. Home-made. Well-Priced. Delicious options in this cozy mountain restaurant. The staff was friendly and attentive, giving us ideas for hikes the next day and what meal options would go well together. Definitely worth going.
(4)Julia Cameron D.
You know how every cuisine has a dish and if the place does the dish well you know it will all be good? I think it is strangely difficult to get good Saag in America. Resham;s Saag sets the standard as far as I am concerned and I find anywhere else I go in Boulder County I am disappointed because its no where near the fresh great taste and texture of Kathmandu's Saag. I also think their Naan is fantastic, again its a simple thing you would think it would be easy to make but theirs is superior to anywhere else in Boulder County I have had. I tend to steer away from gluten but that is so good it is worth the coma that ensues:) I LOVE their Korma either vegetable or shrimp and I love their Chicken Masala. Rich and so many flavors. I also love they have a wide range of vegan and vegetarian dishes so I may bring friends with all different palates and diets here. The family who owns this has a unique and beautiful story of how the owner Resham came to america and created this! Charming and gracious people. OH and if you notice the murals near restrooms? I did those:)
(5)Jon B.
Great, always.
(5)Steph G.
You can't go wrong with the lunch buffet. Great curries. The range of spiciness was also good.
(4)Sean S.
The only thing that sucks about this place is it isnt in Denver. I would say it is one of the best Indian/ Nepalese restaurants in the state.
(5)Polly P.
Good food, small but satisfying buffet, sweet/nice staff. Worth a visit AND revisits.
(4)Alden G.
Nice lunch buffet for under $10. Offerings similar to Indian foods... naan bread, curries. Healthy, tasty, and a very popular spot in Nederland. Had a Chai Tea with Rum; that was good!
(4)Banjo G.
Great staff, great service, quality food, and tasty chai! The food has always been consistent, the service has been great, and it is my favorite stop after playing in the mountains all day.
(5)Peter C.
There is a school out there that suggests that all Indian/Nepalese food out there is yummy, that there is not much distinction between this and that Indian restaurant. I disagree... I have liked Kathmandu in the past, but I'm beginning to think it is because of the good memories more than because of the food. I visited recently and I got to try the lamb vindaloo ordered hot, the tofu saag, and the garlic naan. Service was not exactly high on the priority list (even though it was a quiet evening) as it took over 20 minutes to bring out the first dish (the garlic naan). The naan had a nice garlic, buttery flavor, but the bread itself was a bit rubbery, heavy, and I thought a bit undercooked. The saag was rather bland, even for tofu. My dish, the lamb vindaloo, was indeed pretty spicy, but the other spices weren't exactly in concert. It was fairly one-dimensional and the lamb didn't have the texture I look for in a great stew. I've easily had versions of this dish in boulder and denver that far eclipse this particular rendition. Finally the basmati tasted cheap and was not as fluffy as it should have been. In summary, nice location, but mehhh!
(2)Bhaskar C.
Good place to visit to have your buds reminiscence the taste of indian spices. I really liked the place and the food. The paneer masala comes with rice and I had ordered naan on the side. It was filling and is quite near to the bus stop too. A perfect way to end the trip to the mountains.
(4)Kristine E.
They set the bar for me for Indian and Nepalese food! The saab panir is addictive! And can't help but order the tandoori chicken curry every time. A wonderful restaurant run by a wonderful person!
(5)Laura C.
Had lunch here while spending the afternoon in Nederland. I had the buffet. ....The samosas could have been spiced a little better but everything else was good. Lots of vegetarian options. All you can eat for $10 - you can't beat that!
(4)Sabrina W.
ssuper yum lunch buffet VEGETABLEs !! variety yums
(5)Geoff B.
Lots of locals love this place. For what they serve it is good quality, but not at all a place I go to regularly (and I'm a local). Pros: very quiet, mellow, great choices for vegetarians, friendly staff Cons: not much selection on the buffet, very few omnivore selections I'm a bit biased, I'm not a fan of Indian/Nepalase foods, so if you are go give them a shot.
(3)Sunana B.
Of all the Indian Restaurants (or Tibetan) I have been to in the Boulder area, including Taj Mahal3, Tibet's in Louisville, Bombay Bistro, Himalayas and India's Clay Oven, this place takes the gold! I was very surprised how flavorful the food in the buffet was, and how fresh the chicken was. One of my pet peeves is chicken that tastes "Day old", you can tell it was cooked not fresh that morning. The chicken curry and Tandoori chicken in Kathmandu's buffet were both fresh and yummy. The yellow rice is sweet, so if you're not a fan of a little sweet with your savory, stick with the white basmati rice. The Saag was EXCELLENT! I didn't even miss the paneer because the saag had so much flavor from garlic & ginger. They had a sweet potato curry and that too was so delicious I had to get 2nds. They bring you fresh bread too, instead of having it sit at the buffet drying out, they make it fresh and bring it to your table. This is my new favorite Indian restaurant and I can't wait to go back and try some stuff off of the menu! Also ambiance is nice & romantic. Service is OK, yes they don't bother you every ten minutes which some people consider to be bad service, but for me, I loved it. I like to be left alone to enjoy my food & company. Five stars for this place, go try it today!
(5)Spencer K.
Awesome Nepalese food "in a quiet little red-neck po-dunk white-trash" hippie mountain town. Locally and family owned, very authentic food, friendly staff, a great choice if you want something a little different.
(4)Leslie W.
I love the food at Kathmandu. I ate at Kathmandu before going to the actual Kathmandu, and also after, and this is the most authentic Nepalese food I have eaten since coming back from Nepal. I love that they even have the stainless steel cups and plates (which are every restaurant in Nepal). A friendly Nepalese family runs the place. I love coming here after skiing at Eldora and grabbing the buffet. Get the saag and naan side of dal bhat, and the cauliflowers and potato curry, and you will be immensely satisfied. ... amazing. I crave their food. Good service, and chai which is succulent.
(5)Rob P.
This was a very disappointing lunch. Both the service and the food was way below par. I went for the lunch buffet (which is quite expensive) and if I paid half of that price I'd still feel that I'd been had. While the food items that I tasted were very good, there was barely any food available in the trays; they were mostly empty. I took my time with my "meal", but only 2 of the items were filled while I was there. Also, the service was not good at all. My server spent much of the time while I was there chatting with someone in the kitchen who had come out to talk to him and my beverage was never refilled during my entire stay. Also, there were several staff members who seemed to be doing nothing at all and the restaurant wasn't extraordinarily busy, so it wasn't a matter of being unable to keep up.
(1)Zach G.
This place was surprisingly delicious considering it's location. One just doesn't think of this type of food in a small town west of Boulder, but I was assured it would be tasty, and it was. Note, I said it was tasty, I didn't say it was great. The options on the buffet were lacking something really spicy in my mind, and the service was pretty mediocre, but it was overall pretty darn good.
(3)Molly H.
Kathmandu has rocked my world many, many times. I have stuffed myself so full of their fluffy, buttery naan, and promised I would never eat again, only to be found at Kathmandu buffet the next weekend. The buffet is basic, but everything is perfectly cooked and seasoned. It's nice to sit outside on warm summer days and take in the beautiful mountains and storm clouds forming in the distance. One story. I get very car sick, and the ride up and down Boulder Canyon was never good to me. One day after Kathmandu I got horribly car sick going down the mountain and had to throw up. I was so upset that my Indian Feast was now laying on the side of the road that I insisted we go back up the mountain so I could eat at Kathmandu again. It's that good.
(5)Meg C.
Had the combination vegetarian platter, really some of the best Indian/Tibetan food I've had, ever.
(5)Tony T.
It is the best food you can get after a long day of climbing in Indian Peaks. Affordable buffet, fresh, savory, friendly, all in a welcoming and unique environment!
(5)B H.
I'd eat there again, yet I wouldn't eat there again. The food tends to taste like body odor, and more often than not, you will get seated next to a table of screaming 10 year olds. How and why ten year olds are eating at their own table, I will never know. I have also come to expect at least 3 to 4 hairs in each dish, every single time. Don't ask me if they are body or head hairs, I will never know. I don't know what's worse, the fact that there's always hair in the food, or the fact that I keep eating it without saying anything. The buffet is decently priced and the curry is quite good. It's somewhere I end up when I'm really hungry and realize there aren't many other options in Nederland.
(3)Angelica M.
This place is my boyfriend's family's Colorado tradition for like...10 years +. They have a house in Lyons and ALWAYS make a trip to The Ned for Kathmandu. I had the pleasure to make a visit and I was delighted with the atmosphere and the service. I love their steel cups and plates, their make-shift store in the front of the restaurant (they now have a store next door too) and their food. We decided to try the Veggie Momos, which were spinach filled and a light, nice appetizer. We then ordered an Indian food staple: Aloo Gobi. It was good, the portion was huge and I'm glad we shared it. We also ordered Garlic Roti. The roti was a bit crunchy/crackery-but the rest of the food made up for it. Thank you for being there, Kathmandu!
(4)Douglas A.
Spot on chow! Every time. The saag is amazing.
(4)Shane C.
I have loved this place for many years...it does seem the food has slipped recently. But still, it doesent stop me from picking up a big boxload everytime im in town. Maybe they just need to speak with the chef.
(4)Pashley C.
Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area; I've never been disappointed.
(4)Moffat P.
The Korma and Saag are delicious and the Chai with refills are awesome. Soothing atmosphere and ran by a nice local family. Kathmandu is one of our favorites!
(4)Scott S.
Good food, and served fast. The food was well prepared and tasty, and priced right. I like Indian and Nepalese food, so I was happy to sit down and eat here. The restaurant was clean and in good shape, and the staff was friendly, if not too friendly. Don't need to know about hangovers, just be pleasant. Good food and easy to get there, a nice place to eat.
(4)Todd L.
In a small town with only a small handful of restaurants, it's strange that one of these restaurants is one of the best in the country in my opinion. If you're in the area and looking for a meal, this is the best food in town, hands down. The entrees are far better than the buffet, but for the price, the buffet is worth it as well. Even if you're in Boulder, it's well worth the 25 minute drive up the canyon to try some of the best Nepalese food that you've ever had. It's way better than any of the similar offerings in Boulder, despite what some people in town may say. Try the Tandoori Chicken Curry - white meat tandoori chicken in a creamy curry sauce. Amazing and unique. Never seen this dish at another place. The Saag is top notch as well, along with the Naan of course. Try the appetizer sampler if you have a hungry group. The owners are legit - a real transplanted Nepalese family. When the father, Mala, is cooking in the kitchen, you'll know. He has a touch with the food that can be tasted.

My wife and I were there the same day as Alicia H, 9/4/2011 (I do not know Alicia H, but after reading her review, I felt I should write a review too). We had the buffett also. That night, my wife became very ill. She vomited several times and had horrible diarrhea. I felt fine, but we knew it had to have been from this place. My wife had a couple of dishes that I did not eat, so they may be the cuplrits. We don't think we'll ever go back. If my wife didn't get sick, the rating would still be only a 2 or 3 star. The food was not that good and the buffett was lacking.

Very enjoyable lunch buffet during a crowded time today! Staff was slammed, yet kept up with their customers. Was so good I returned a 2nd time to the buffet, & love the hot chai!

Kathmandu is my favorite Indian food place in the Boulder/Nederland Area. In college, my roommates and I literally moved to Nederland so that we could eat at Kathmandu more often. While I wouldn't go that far now, I do highly recommend Kathmandu! It has a nice laid back atmosphere and some truly delicious Indian/Nepalese dishes.

After a long day of hiking, nothing beats stopping at Kathmandu. The service is always very good. The food is even better. They have an excellent buffet. There are lots of choices and they do a pretty good job of keeping it filled. Their naan is so good, but don't fill up on it before trying their rice pudding. It is the best rice pudding I have ever tasted. Just watch out for the cardamom pods. If you're not expecting it and you bite down on one, you're in for quite a surprise! We've also eaten food off of the menu. Their steamed momos are crave-worthy. Their chicken curry is very good and their saag paneer is very tasty. The only thing that bugs me is the metal dishes, but as a previous reviewer said, it's authentic.

This restaurant is a gem hidden in the mountains. Lunch buffet is a great opportunity to invite the uninitiated to sample different dishes. Check it out!

meh. even though the place was about 1/3 full, it felt closed. perhaps because there were no lights on, perhaps because there was no background music at all. well, unless you count the squeak of the door to the kitchen. that was quite persistent. as for the food, both my husband i and thought it was kind of bland. i had the vegetable momo and he had the tofu aloo and peas. we should have requested to have it made spicier when we ordered, but i hesitate to do that because never know what the "normal" level is at any given restaurant. plus, this gives the dish the chance to wow me without my interference. if i go back, i would certainly ask to spice it up.

$8.99 for a pretty good Indian buffet with endless amounts of naan. I love this place for their sweet potato masala! It was so delicious that I had to go back for more! Along with their fried spinach. I wasn't a big fan of their saag though, but I'm kind of a saag snob due to all the delicious lamb saag I've had over the years. Other than that, great place to have lunch when all the other cafes are packed with tourists.

If you like Indian curries and are in or around Boulder, CO, take the treck up Boulder Canyon road to Nederland and head to Katmandu for some fabulous Nepalese food. Its all quite good but for a nice spicy curry try the chicken vindaloo. For something milder, try the lamb korma or the shrimp saag.

This has the BEST Chicken Curry I have ever had. Nuff said. I live in Dallas and this is a must stop anytime I'm in town.

Food here is ok, but they don't rotate the selection enough. Good lunch deal. Friendly wait staff. Great mountain views for window seats. Ample room for large parties. Good place to chill out in the middle of the afternoon as their lunch buffet goes late. All the dishes are good, but you want find any super spicy or super flavorful like you would expect from something very authentic.

My first time in this restaurant, it will not be the last. The food was excellent. The tandoori chicken curry was the best Indian/Nepalese food I have ever had. The chicken korma and naan was very good. The dining room was not fancy but the food made up for it.

Best Chai after a day long hike!

Kathmandu has excellent Nepalese and Indian food. My favorite is the chicken saag with garlic/cheese naan. Their lunch buffet is a good deal.

Best food in Nederland and family-run. Resham and Mala are always in the restaurant doing quality control and greeting customers. Favorite dishes are the steamed momo's, saag, and korma. Always with a cup of homemade chai. A great reason to drive to Nederland!
