I recently moved to Lyons and was looking for a place where I could have some tea and get some work done on my computer. I decided to stop in at Barking Dog Cafe along main street. The atmosphere is eclectic but it also has a warm, cosy feeling to it. The staff was friendly and the tea was great. They have free wifi and there are plenty of outlets so it turned out to be a good place to work on my laptop. I will likely be a regular here.

The atmosphere is eclectic meets mountain town, so there is a lot of character! It isn't very 'polished' which makes it feel warm and comfortable. My late was delicious... but I particularly enjoyed the pumpkin bread with chunks of dark chocolate! I give it two thumbs up!

I want a cup of coffee. I want it to taste good and easy to order. I want it hot, not to pricey and served with a smile. Pretty simple huh? Barking dog covers those bases. Mochas are not to chocolaty ....you can taste the coffee. Just how I like it. Staff is friendly and attentive. Pastries rock! Enjoy!

I visited Lyons for a couple days to hike in Rocky Mt. National Park and felt so at home here. What a great way to start one's morning! There is a regular crowd of patrons and it truly seems like the kind of coffee shop (and town) where everyone knows your name. The day-old pastries are a great, still delicious deal.

Ghastly, slow, rude service. Zombie baristas. Boring white bread food. Don't waste your time and money. Go instead to the Stone Cup one block away. Far superior!

Lovely place for breakfast and to sit on the sidewalk and talk. Their menu is great. The breakfast burritos we had hit the spot perfectly. I love that they have the option of coffee mugs out for patrons to use instead of paper cups. I'm finding this to be not the norm anymore so it's a nice thing to see.

I wanted to snuggle in and stay awhile here. I probably would have too, if my other half wasn't in a hurry to get back to town to prep for a business meeting. Shoot! The dog theme was well executed without being tacky or overbearing (a couch with some upholstery, art work, pastries in dog bone and dog shapes, logos, etc. The cookie I got was out of this world (I may or may not have seen a 4 year old excitedly identify and ask for the exact same kind) and they have almond milk to make chai with (as well as 3rd street or Bhakti). Score! My favorite was a little detail that I'll leave so that you can enjoy it for yourself. Check out the wi-fi login password. It will be sure to make you smile.

Nice place, nice people, good coffee. Didn't like the rock music blasting from the ceiling. What's wrong with silence, with listening to your own thoughts, with contemplation as you sit with your java? I don't know anyone who goes to a coffee shop wanting anything but quiet, especially if they're trying to get some work done. If you wanted the noisy world, you wouldn't be in a coffee shop, you'd be at a disco or a jeans store. The music overhead at Barking Dog DEMANDS you listen to it, and that sucks. Other than that, thumbs up! I just won't be back for the above reasons.

Breakfast , teas, lattes, pastries, sandwiches, salads, fresh fruit, and smoothies, and super cheap day old baked goods; this place rocks. Dropped by after a nice bike ride to Lyons and was fully stoked to be able to expend the rest of the cash in my wallet ($3.00) for some post-ride sustenance, an awesomely moist raspberry and chocolate muffin (I would have taken a photo, but I devoured it within seconds) and a somewhat ok "fig bar" pack. The not too exciting "Fig bar" pack was not the fault of the barking dog café - they didn't make it there; just a pre-packaged product sold along with the cliff bars and fruit leathers. That muffin really was excellent. There are nice tables. some provide sun protection with umbrellas, out front, rocking chairs, and bizarre artwork fashioned onto their newspaper dispenser - the Lyons Recorder. Inside, there are tables with people dining, sipping on coffee, and working on their computer. Cool artwork is strewn throughout the establishment, and along with the comfy chairs and tables, the place makes for a cozy spot to spend some time. O yea, there's also a huge patio outback with more seating and tables. Dogs welcome.

Good coffee, decent to good food, nice location, good service. The locals love this place. I would go back. Live music on occasion.

Stopped in for a caffeine fix and was greeted by friendly staff, a cute shop and a finely crafted espresso drink. Free wi-fi for customers. Totally recommend this local coffee spot.

This place has great coffee, serves my favorite chai tea, has good food and homemade bread and pies. Nice relaxed atmosphere, dog friendly, and plenty of outdoor seats in the summer. Definitely stop in if you are ever heading through Lyons!

This coffee shop seems really friendly and their coffee creations are delicious! The Baristas are attentive, and seem to really know how to whip up a great morning starter! The parallel parking is limited to the Main Street, but it almost seems like half the customers walk there anyway, so you can usually find a spot very close. They also offer breakfast sandwiches, and the only three I've ever ordered, were all uniformly prepared with fresh vegetables and quality bread products. Puts Starbucks to shame, try this place!!

Very nice coffee and sandwich shop. I had a Nutella latte, which was quite good. The froth on top was creamy and just the right amount.

Three stars for the friendly staff and atmosphere; two stars for the food. Pleasant cafe - too bad the food did not measure up. I drive through Lyons once a week on my way to hike in the mountains. This time I was hungry and stopped at the cafe. Purchased one cheese+vegie sandwich and a piece of pie for later. The sandwich was tasty but disappointing - there was one small and thin piece of cheese and the avocado pieces (that cost an extra $1) were so miniscule I had to search the sandwich carefully to find anything. Only thing generous in this sandwich was the overly large slices of onion. I was still hungry after this inadequate lunch so I tackled the pie - worse, much much worse. Bland, anemic bottom crust + canned fruit filling. Ate the filling and threw the rest away (would not normally have eaten the fruit but I had a 10 mile hike ahead of me). Next time I will just remember to pack my food ahead of time and save $13. They seem like nice people so hopefully they can improve their food.

Just stopped in and had an amazing sausage, egg and mozzarella cheese on a croissant. It was fluffy sand perfect. The coffee was also very good and had many options for sweeteners. Great service with a smile!

Yum Yum Yum The mochas and chai tea here is awesome! I also tried the egg bagel sandwich, a little too much cream cheese for my taste but it was still good. This is one of my traditional stops I make once I make it into lyons to visit my family.

Great Jazzy Java. Nutty, and cinnamon hints...yum. IT SMELLS SO GOOD IN HERE. Friendlier staff than the other shop. Maybe less parking though.

The barking dog is just our favorite place to go when stopping through Lyons especially in the early mornings before enjoying a good hike. They have a great seating area in front and outback and are dog friendly outside. Don't forget to keep your ears open for some good bluegrass

Decent priced mochas with cute dog-friendly names. Had a bad experience, but was righted quickly by one of the baristas.

What a nice little coffee house to hang out in, in such a groovy little town. The staff is very relaxed and nice. Food is good and pastries ROCK! They are as good as Dean and Deluca's in NYC. If you are passing through stop by and relax with a chai or coffee and a pastry. You won't be disappointed.

Walked in and who was singing but Jerry Garcia... I must be in the correct place then. Smiling friendly faces working and a great cup of peppermint tea. What more can you want when passing through a new town. Comfy couch to sit at and plenty of tables to enjoy a good-looking pastry. I'd stop by here anytime for a quick bev.

Not a bad place to hang out. Good coffee, nice atmosphere, awesome breakfast sandwiches. With everything done so well I was very surprised when I ordered the breakfast burrito. They pulled it out of the freezer(fridge) and microwaved it! Are you kidding me? Barking Dog? sure. Breakfast sandwiches? sure. Breakfast burritos? No way!

Solid neighborhood joint. Full of locals but welcoming to strangers. Lots of light through the huge front windows, chill staff, groovy tunes on the stereo. Oh, and a Baaaadass BLT (get it w/ cream cheese on an everything bagel).

I love the Barking Dog. Yes, it is smaller than the Stone Cup, but the owner is a really nice guy. He is always smiling and super helpful. The baristas that work here all seem to be genuinely happy to be at work. The vibe is kind of funky. Perfect for Lyons. Bluegrass music softly playing in the background and plenty of good pastries and typical (but really good) coffee shop food and drinks. My favorite things to get is the locally made chai tea and a toasted bagel with cream cheese and fresh tomato slices. This is certainly not Starbucks. It may take a few minutes to get your food, but it is made right in front of you by people that are nice and genuine. I love the small town feel and great customer service.
