We love this restaurant and are almost weekly regular customers. The Colorado chicken is always moist and tender and other dishes are great. The Salmon tapas is one of my favorite appetizers. I love the Black Walnut Manhatten (not always on the menu) and it is now a favorite at home as well. The staff is very professional and quickly attends to any concerns. It is by far the best restaurant in the Loveland area, and they are always creating new taste treats. It is now called Door 222. The noise level is more than we like due to all the hard surfaces, but that is quite common in most new restaurants. But, I still think this place has earned 5 stars from me for the consistently enjoyable experience. The lights and decor are fantastic, too.

A very nice choice in downtown Loveland. Very eclectic menu with a large number of choices, many good cocktail and wine and beer choices as well. My companion had a pasta special with mussels which tasted great. I had two tapas meals - a lobster pot pie (OK, more like lobster and mixed veg under a puff pastry) and special with egg and bacon that was delightful. Don't get to Loveland too often, but would certainly come back here! And a free wine or beer with the Yelp checkin!! +++!

Food was amazing, and produce used from local farmers. Outstanding service and atmosphere. One of my favorites in Loveland for sure!

We don't get to Loveland often but when we do, we stop here. It was just as good this time. The Margherita pizza was fabulous--the crust and the sauce, mmm! We also had an excellent corn and cauliflower quinoa risotto.

1st visit was absolutely 5 stars, best burger I have ever had and great service. Went back 5 more times hoping for that great burger, but it never happened. Still had great service though, that deserve 5 stars. The cook is not a chef though and medium means nothing. I verified the last 4 times with the server medium means pink in the middle? Yes, yes it does, but well-done is what I got. My litmus test for any restaurant is a burger, if they can't make that right then I won't bother with more expensive meals. 2 stars for 5 failures (hint: meat continues to cook after its pulled from the heat, not a cook and still know that.)

We were lucky enough to choose Next Door for New Years Eve. The evening started off with Cava and a generous assortment of tapas. Then started the feast. Six courses with paired wines. Some of the stand outs were the pear and lobster Gazpacho, the pork course was everyone's favorite and topped off with panna cotta with Marcona almonds and blood orange marmalade. Although this was a one time event, the food here is always inventive and tasty. The staff are efficient and friendly. The decor is funky, almost steampunk but very cozy as well. It was a great event and while it wasn't inexpensive, we left thinking it was worth it.

I've been here a few times and it's always good. There's always something new. I've had friends complain about small portions but I think they're fine. The quinoa cakes are delicious!

I've been here with my husband a while ago and we were really impressed with the food! Although a bit pricey, the quality of the food, service and the atmosphere really pays off! I had the New Braised Short Rib Mac N' Cheese tapas, and oh my! I couldn't get enough of it! My husband had the All Natural Colorado Grilled Chicken and later on we shared a delicious almond cake! Insanely good!

  • Jessica P.

Best sangria around! The food is unique and delicious. The atmosphere is fun with all the doors hanging. The menu is pricey but sharing tapas with friends and having a sangria is well worth it. The staff has always been friendly. Stop in and try a sangria you won't regret it!

From day one, and by any name, the restaurant is top drawer with no real competition from other comparative venues. I have been in for a quick, before meal rehearsal, and for leisure dinners. It is solid and reliable. Well done!

The zeppoles are amazing. So fluffy and delicious on its own or dipped in the raspberry sauce and caramel sauce. You must try it!

The food was great!! I had the hanger steak and my husband had a burger. The server was very nice and also did a great job. We will definitely be going back.

I came to the Next Door while on business in CO, and I ate here on three separate occasions. It is that good! The cocktails are imaginative and really tasty. I ordered the Hanger Steak (every single time). It was absolutely fantastic, cooked perfectly every time! It came with really crispy frites and a delicious brown butter hollandaise. The wait staff was attentive and friendly. It was some of the best food I had in CO. Plus, if you check-in on your Yelp app, you get a free beer or glass of wine!!

Really good food, for surprisingly cheap. Also really quick and friendly service. I don't have much else to say. you should check it out, if only to confuse your friends and family by saying you're going "to next door" for some food.

Tapas at their best. Had the bacon-wrapped dates (#1 on my list), stuffed picadew peppers (fantastic) and the shaved Brussels. The moscato d'asti was great and the service was even better. Highly recommend and on my return list.

I've only been to this place once, so I am hesitant to give it 5 stars so soon, but this place was excellent. The dining room is very inviting, designed with mostly reclaimed materials, which is very cool. The service was excellent, and the vegetarian quinoa burger I had was delicious! The texture was a little grainy due to the quinoa, but the flavor was very good. The vegetarian selections all sounded very tasty, so I will definitely go back again.

Enjoyed the halibut very much. Along with the yummy 3 dip tapas and decadent almond cake dessert. A great dining experience.

Tried to come here on a Saturday night one hour before closing and they sent us next door. They told us the kitchen was closed and we explained we just wanted drinks and then they said they were closing early even with people inside.

This is probably the only nice place to grab drinks in Loveland (seriously). Walking inside this restaurant reminded me of being in Downtown Denver. The food was small but I didn't expect anything else. I would recommend to go there for the drinks. My man is a good eater so he would've needed 3 dishes in order to fill up. The only issue I have with this restaurant is the wait time. If you don't make a reservation you will need to be ready to wait up to an hour to be seated. The bar only has about 4 stools and they are usually taken up.

Update : when I find myself continually returning and the food and service are consistent, and very good, I need to update my review. Solid 4.5 only because I spent half my life in New Orleans and that's my standard. Highly recommended if you are in the area. And Sydney makes an excellent Sazerac!

My husband and I really enjoyed our selves. We sat in the patio and had a variety if tapas. All are good and I really enjoyed the mushroom tarte. Emily did a wonderful job. She gave good suggestions and told us about the new seasonal menu change.

I really love the atmosphere and the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. The food was delicious I really enjoyed the bacon wrapped dates and the duck was heavenly. Really a great place, very fun for date night or for drinks and appetizers with friends.

One of our all time favorite places in loveland or fort collins! The service has always been impeccable and the food is amazing. They are so accommodating with any changes that you need and are just a class act all around. We always get the shaved Brussel sprouts and almond stuffed dates as tapas. The entrees are all good...the short ribs are amazing and the quinoa cakes are to die for!

Wonderful service from beginning to end. Friendly and quick and their food is amazing!! I love to go Next Door after seeing something at the Rialto!! A wonderful part of our newly revitalized downtown Loveland!!

We've been here twice now.. The first time, during opening week, we ordered about $30 worth of tapas per person and we all had to get fast food after because we were still hungry. This past time, I got the mushroom papardelle & my hubby got a burger with mixed potato wedges. My pasta was lacking some type of seasoning.. maybe garlic or salt or a sharper, thicker cut of parmesan. Next Door's saving grace is most definitely the drinks! Their wine list is great. I had a Sangiovese which was superb. Their mixed drinks, like the Black Walnut Manhattan, are yummy & strong. Also - their chandeliers/light fixtures are probably the coolest I've seen. They reminded me of the Da Vinci museum in Venice.

Once again, I met up with a couple of friends from Loveland to celebrate mutual birthdays -- looks like this is becoming an annual tradition, and that's okay by me. Whereas my thoughts at my last visit could be summed up as "this is really good for Loveland," now I just have to say "this is damn good" with no qualifications. We all had a cup of the soup du jour -- a Thai tomato curry -- and shared a couple of small plates and a pizza. Surprisingly, the soup was off the hook. I say surprisingly because I am often skeptical when waitresses at this sort of establishment warn that something "has a little heat," but indeed it did. It came garnished with a couple of crispy brussel sprout leaves and had a hearty, vegetal quality that we later learned came from ground lentils and rice. Authentically Thai? Not by any measure, but still delicious and worth trying if you see it offered. For our small plates, we ordered the smoked salmon with potato cakes (a repeat from last time) and the mussels. This time the potato cakes did not seem as greasy as they did last time, just crispy and lacy and delicious. Props for improving this dish! The mussels came in a to-die-for curry broth and just 3 pieces of toast -- you are definitely going to want to ask for more bread to sop up this broth. And our pizza? Oh, the pizza! Pear-pancetta, with blue cheese on a perfectly crispy, cracker thin crust. This was my pick of our shared dishes, and though one of my friends later said she never would have chosen it herself it was really good. Savory sweet deliciousness and my favorite bite(s) of the evening.

Wonderful ambience and great food! I really enjoyed the smoked salmon tapas! The salmon comes served on a crunchy potato cake with creme fraiche and roasted capers. Yum! The balance of flavor and textures was perfect!

Excellent Brussels sprouts and peanut butter mousse dessert! I felt adventurous and tried a bread-and-butter pickle cocktail on the server's recommendations--yuck! I'll stick to the usual!

We are regulars at 4th St restaurants, and for some reason the one we hadn't eaten at was Next Door. We finally stopped in tonight, and we booked Valentines reservations before leaving. It was fantastic. My wife and I had appetizers drinks and entrees. Everything was delicious and the service was very good. We look forward to going back soon for valentines dinner.

My mom and I have a monthly dinner date here. The food is always local and fresh. The service is always on point. They have great everything. My favorites are the bacon wrapped dates and the dipping trio. They are constantly changing their menu but the decadent entrees never cease to disappoint. They have specialty pastas every Tuesday, and have gluten free pasta that can be substituted In for those of us with allergies. The bohemian decor makes it a great welcoming place to spend time with friends, family, or your special someone.

TL/DR: This is a restaurant not to be missed! Make your reservations for this quiet gem with excellent food, great service, and reasonable prices. A very nice surprise in the middle of the revitalized downtown Loveland, Colorado. It's not very often that a restaurant gets 5 stars from me. I'm pretty picky when it comes to service and food quality - most of the time, anyway - and nearly every restaurant I eat at is a 3-star, with a few gaining a 4th. It's very rare to get that 5th star from me, and usually requires something pretty amazing in terms of service, food, or both. Next Door food & drink in Loveland, Colorado, is one of those rarities, located at 222 E. 4th Street (call 970-541-3020 for reservations or make them online). They have a wide variety of tapas as well as full entrees, desserts, a lunch menu, and happy hour specials. The restaurant is located at 222 E. 4th Street in the Rialto Theatre Center, and they open at 11:30am seven days a week. Reservations are recommended - and get them early, folks - they fill up fast. My family and I - all six of us - made a reservation for 430pm on Sunday, and when we arrived on time we were seated immediately, with no waiting. A kids menu for my niece was already waiting for us (nice touch!) and the booth was very comfortable, even with six people. I'd like to talk for a moment about our server, Mike. In my experience, there are two main types of servers - those whom you hardly ever see, and those who hang over you, smothering you to death. Only very, very rarely do you get the server that shows up like magic when you need them, and disappears when you don't - aka the "great" server. Mike falls into this category. Not only was he friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, my drink was never empty, and he went above and beyond to provide us with great service (more on this later). As you can see from the menu, there are quite a few (20!) options for tapas fans - in fact, the breadth of choice was just this side of overwhelming. Too many choices on a menu can be problematic for a restaurant, and though I think Next Door could slim down by a couple options, I was able to find something I liked easily. I chose the burrata cheese and smoked salmon tapas, but also tasted the bacon-wrapped Medjool dates and grilled leg of lamb, both of which were delicious. My family enjoyed their fried calamari and the truffled parmesan potato medley, as well. Next Door's portion sizes were great for health-conscious eaters. Where they really shine, though, is in their gluten-free options. 14 of the 20 tapas had gluten-free prep available, as well as all of the salads and all but 2 of the entrees. One of my family members is allergic, so this was a huge win for us. I took advantage of the caesar salad and Red Bird Farms basil grilled chicken, while the others had margherita and mushroom pizzas and the Catalan seafood stew. The pinnacle of the excellent service came with the delivery of the stew. Unfortunately, there was a mixup in the kitchen, and though the stew was ordered gluten-free for my family member with an allergy, it came out with a breadstick included - clearly not edible in this case. Steve, the excellent manager, immediately realized the problem and apologized, sending the food back and getting it remade. He went the extra mile, having it remade completely, because the potatoes that formed the base might have been cross-contaminated. That level of above-and-beyond is pretty rare, even for restaurants that take allergies very seriously. Mike and Steve were very apologetic, making sure we were happy with the food for everyone. For my part, the quinoa risotto on my basil grilled chicken was the absolute best risotto I've ever had. Just absolutely fantastic. The basil on the chicken was done very well, and the chicken was moist and tender. For many people, dessert is one of the best parts of the meal. I know that it's a favorite of mine, anyway. Next Door's dessert menu was pretty varied, with good options. I chose the blackberry & peach cobbler with the vanilla bean ice cream. The crust was warm and flaky, the peaches soaked up the flavor of the blackberries nicely, and the ice cream really set the whole thing off. The presentation was interesting as well. There were only two minor problems with our meal, other than the bread in the stew. The yellow cake one of our party ordered was somewhat dry, and their mushroom pizza had an overabundance of arugula. Overall: This is a restaurant not to be missed! Make your reservations for this quiet gem with excellent food, great service, and reasonable prices. A very nice surprise in the middle of the revitalized downtown Loveland, Colorado. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at this restaurant and really wish it wasn't 1,200 miles away! Read all my reviews at moderndayhitchhiker.com .

Awesome little gem! Excellent, gracious service. Food was delicious and presented beautifully. Soup and salad, sandwiches, small plates - all great! Highly recommend this place! I'd call this a 4.5 (only because the food took a little while) but it was well worth the wait and the prices are extremely fair.

I went in on a week night with 3 friends. We made reservations but the place was pretty much dead. The wait staff was really patient and helped us navigate the menu. I had the Hazel Dell Mushrooms pizza and it was good. I could not help but compare it to the Hazel Dell Mushroom pizza at Cafe Vino which made me fall in love with Hazel Dell Mushrooms in the first place, and unfortunately I have to say that I prefer the Cafe Vino version. However all of the rest of the group was pretty much in love with everything they ordered. I would go back for the atmosphere alone. A nice little gem in Loveland. quite with warm low light, and a very nice decor style: I do not know exactly how to describe it, perhaps contemporary rustic? The only thing is they they close relatively early, well maybe that is not fair. I have noticed almost everything in Loveland is closed by ten o'clock for some reason, so obviously there is no demand for them being open later, but I wished that they were. I definitely recommend it!

Went there last Saturday and all I can say is WOW! One of the best restaurants I've been to in a long time. Everything we ordered (tapas) was delicious.

The black walnut manhattan with stranahan's whiskey is amazing and STRONG. The tartare was lovely, tender bold and delicate flavors. The duck confit, delicious and homey. The kitchen is interested in supporting local farmers. I'm a little perplexed by the bad service and weak drinks review as my experiences have been the opposite. I've eaten here 5 times and each time the table service has been very attentive and friendly. The tapas have been great, not too big, not too small and delicious: fresh, flavorful and fun food combinations with a divine happy hour..what more could you ask for? Apparently more, I certainly hope Loveland supports this great little place, but we are a fickle little town that likes corporate chain restaurants with big servings and a menu that isn't terribly challenging. (The friendly waiter reminded us that the tartare was served raw.) C'mon people- support your little local eateries!

All around awesome - great food and drinks. The atmosphere is wonderful too. I especially appreciate that they used a local artist for some of the furnishings and decor. Love this place!

Been here multiple times. It's a wonderful splash of spunk in a part of town that is still growing it's culture. Unique wines by the glass and fun creative meals. I plan on returning!

Enjoyed all the veggie and gluten free options (meet up with a friend who needs that for lunch) and the happy hour option and prices can't be beat. Extra nice that they've got milk stout on draft- nice spot in downtown.

What a wonderful experience! The quiche ("while it lasts") was phenomenal and the service was top notch. Also enjoyed the beer selection and the patio seating. Even noticed a llama walking on the sidewalk nearby. Very nice!

This is a great addition to Loveland. The Tapas are amazing...I'm partial to the Pork Belly and the duck confit Tacquitos. The great thing about the tapas menu is there is always something new to try and most everything is really good. I've enjoyed going with groups and sharing the different dishes. At the bar, I would recommend the Basil Gimlet or the Rocky Mountain Julip. Plus, they have a really good wine selection. You can't go wrong. The decor is incredible with a mix of modern and rustic having reused a lot of old material from buildings around Northern Colorado. It is definitely the place to be. The service was good and it has improved every time I've come back. Given that they just opened, it's fair to let them work out the kinks a bit.

this is our favorite place in Loveland to go. the tapas are good and appropriately sized, with the smoked salmon being my absolute favorite. I heard they smoke it themselves. the entrees are generous and tasty, and the décor is airy and cool yet rustic. the staff can be a little slow, but their attitudes more than make up for it. not very fun for kids, but it is for adults.

  • Paula G.

I agree with the other reviewers: the decor is great, the servers are rude and the food is just ok. They are really trying to be creative with the menu but something, I can't place my finger on it, is just missing the mark. The owner is very nice and wants the restaurant to succeed though and so I would guess that they will make changes and improve over time. I will try it again in a couple of months.

It is great to see new life popping up in Downtown Loveland. The Next Door bar has super enticing curb appeal and walking through the doors will not disappoint. The place looks great. But if you are going there for the food don't expect to be wowed. We ordered polenta fritters with goat cheese to start with. I am not sure if they were supposed to be cold in the center, but if they are... maybe ask the waitress to warm 'em up. Then a duck entree to follow. The duck was overcooked and the greens accompanying the duck were way over seasoned. I would go back for a drink, but probably not to eat anytime soon.

The service in a restaurant can make a business shine. For the last two experiences I rate my service a 1 or lower. The second time my husband and I actually left. It was right after happy hour was over. We sat at the bar. NO ONE helped us for over 7 minutes. That feels like a lifetime when you are hungry or thirsty. We ordered and then the bartender came over and told us that they were out of both of the things we asked for. She didn't even apologize. Mind you these are items that were either displayed when you come in or on their tent on the table or one their own menu. We asked her to come back, still without even water even though she had come to the table twice we tried to decide what to do. After about another 5 minutes of waiting with no end or service in sight we decided to leave. We had been given a $100 gift card to use for a special occassion. We will be regifting. The food is pretty good, but as I said, the service is so important.

Loveland has struggled since I moved here to get good consistent dining. When it came to going out to dine in Loveland the only place that you could go for good consistent food was a flavorless chain or Henry's Pub, however, that is changing. When a restaurant opens in Loveland it's menu is normally your meat and potato crowd pleaser but not this place... Next Door Food and Drink opened up with it's specialty menu of Tapas and cocktails and it is far from your meat and potato menu but don't worry-they have entrees too. This place is adjoined to the now completed Rialto Bridge project. It has a beautiful glass store front and when entering you step on a wood floor with the name and logo burned into it. Apparently the wood floor is salvage from a restaurant that was demolished for the city to complete it's Rialto project. In fact most of the décor is salvage, from a tin roof of another building the city demolished, to old boxcar material recycled for flooring, to giant wood pillars weighing hundreds of pounds from an old barn in Wisconsin and lots of doors; after all it is "Next Door" ;-) This place has style and has raised a bar that has been set too low in downtown Loveland for way too long. Thank you Next Door. Don't worry Next Door is not all show it has great food and cocktails to back it up. As any good Tapas restaurant's menu should be, it is large, the tapas are too many to list so I'll just tell you a few things I liked (which is a long list too) and what I would avoid. I enjoyed the spanakopita (has a great buttery flaky crust), I loved the duck and pork belly tapas and the roasted garlic with cheese tapas. I also enjoyed the the hint of sesame oil in the salads that came with our entrees; delicious. Although I didn't care for the house made chips cooked in chili oil; I wanted more heat- more chili. I like chili so much you would probably have to fry chili skins in chili oil to make me happy; there's a thought. Finally I can't stop until I tell you about their Black Walnut Manhattans. It is one of the best cocktails I have ever had and I am not a cocktail drinker; normally I drink whiskey on ice or beer. It is made with their fabulous, in house made, walnut bitters. It is simply fabulous and is very complex for a Manhattan. Each sip is to be savored while delicate aromatics fade off your tongue in layers of savoriness; smokey from the whiskey with the bite hidden by the body of chocolate bitters (not sweet) and a finish of toasted nuttiness. I told my wife that it reminds me of something while I was drinking it and she ask, "what" and I said, "I can't quite remember. I think I should have another one to see if it can help me remember". Overall this place is fantastic and a great addition to downtown. Though you can take kids there I recommend getting a sitter and enjoying an evening with your special someone.

We went there with another couple last week and were pretty disappointed. The service was terrible, the bartender was texting instead of filling orders and the food was overpriced. Now for some positives. The ambiance is great. It is very tastefully decorated and comfortable. Our server was friendly but not Jane on the spot. The tapas (sp?) were a good, my entree' was good but not filling. Overall, I don't think we will go back as the place 2 doors down has better food for better prices. It's not a bad place, but bring your wallet and prepare to wait and not be full when you leave.

Finally, a great place for Tapas and drinks in Northern Colorado! This is the best place I have dined the Fort Collins/Loveland area in a long time. The tapas were well prepared and the flavors were excellent. I filled up on bacon wrapped dates and melt in your mouth pork bellies, so I didn't get to try an entree. I will definately return soon to try the pizza and othitems on the menu. The atmoshpere and decor were top notch, and really impressive. Much better than I ever expected based on experiences in so many sub-par restaurants in Northern Colorado. This place finally brings world class flovors to the area.

We went here for dinner one night with another couple and had a fabulous evening. The decor inside the restaurant is great - tons of attention to detail which really shines through. The food was all very good, some exceptional. The wine and drinks list is extensive. Only this we found 'odd' was the servers all wearing blue jeans and t-shirts, seems like this place is a little classier, perhaps have the servers match the atmosphere. A little pricey, but well worth it - highly recommend.

This is my new fave! The staff is wonderful, the drinks have a mad scientist influence that tastes oh so good, the wine list is great and the tapas are to die for. The pepadews are exceptional.

Probably the best restaurant in Loveland. Plenty of interesting, well executed menu items at a very reasonable price point. Black walnut Manhattan was delightful. Duck taquitos are a must!

WOW is how I have to start this out. I stumbled upon this place in cute little downtown Loveland and what a surprise it was. Greeted by a bight smiling face, my girlfriend and I were seated quickly and well attended to. The liquor and wine selection was quite impressive and we were both ready to dive into some tapas. We enjoy sharing our food, so we picked out quite a selection. We started with ( i had to go back to website to remember exact ingredients) Tuna Crudo / Fennel / Olive Tapenade / Lemon / Crostini , then the fresh mozzarella with arugula, then we had roasted almonds, Za'atar Rubbed Lamb Ribs, also had a roasted red peper, wrapped in canadian bacon, with cheese and some other ingredients I dont remember :) Every single item was to die for and exceeded my expectations in every way. If you are looking to be blow away by some creative and very tasty food , then this place is for you.

Loved every bit of this place! Went for a birthday dinner and had awesome service, great food a drink. We stuck with the tapa's menu and ordered accordingly - a couple of plates at a time. So we never had too much food nor did anything get cold! I recommend ordering like that - get a couple of plates to share, then get a couple more and a couple more. You will have room for their yummy desserts (lemon Baklava and Apple Empanadas) and it offers a lovely dinner experience. My fave items, the margarita pizza, the patata's bravas, the dipping trip (specifically the olive tapenade - we had extra and put some on the pizza, hello heaven). The decor is great, cool lighting and comfortable booths. The place was full and we made a reservation, but I never saw any parties wait to long for their table. Yes, this is a nice restaurant and bit pricier than the typical Loveland fair - but it is an amazing restaurant and worth every penny!!! Also, Nicole (Nikki) our server was a blast and made the experience super fun! My only critique is the Cesar salad - it was sub par needed more dressing and the extra spice that they said it came with. Can't wait to come back and try more items!

After walking around DT Loveland & all the restaurants having an incredibly long wait time we went to Next Door. I was happy to see it wasn't all tapas items. While we waited we shared a flight of their local draft beers. The bartender was very nice, and took a considerable amount of time to talk about each beer. Shortly into our "flight" we were given a table in the front of the restaurant. The table was a great size for two, the chairs had high backs & were comfortable. Our server was outstanding! She was incredibly friendly. We ordered an appetizer to share, and a pint for each of us. When I gave my beer order she talked about the beer & another beer similar to the one I ordered. My beer choice was at first based on the flight, but she gave me a sample, which quickly changed my mind. She gave us plenty of time to begin our appetizer before ordering our entrees. We had the quinoa cakes & pork belly. We would definitely go back to Next Door. Great food, service, atmosphere & reasonable prices.

I am a big fan of tapas and was very happy when Next Door opened. My wife and I have been there four times so far and will definitely be back. Although we find the tapas good and the ambiance upbeat, the tapas menu lacks any wow dishes. Also, though we typically order the pork belly, it falls short of what it could be.

This place is amazing!!! My husband and I went and shared several tapas and all of them were delicious and the price is totally right!!!! There is a wide variety and everything sounded inventive and tasty so it was difficult to decide! I am still dreaming about the mushroom/goat cheese puff pastry and the short ribs, wowza! The ambiance is equally great, very cool decor, comfortable/cozy seating. And last but not least the service was on par with everything I listed above, very friendly, attentive, and knowledgable about the tapas and wine lists. We are thrilled to have such a cool restaurant in our backyard. We will definitely go back again and again and again.......

I Popped in here for lunch after an activity at the Library with my 6 year old son. The atmosphere was relaxing and cozy and I was impressed with the kids menu. I expected the standard kids fare (hamburger, corn dog, mac and cheese, chicken nuggets and pizza, usually served with fries) I was pleasantly surprised at the delicious sounding, unique variety of options, all well tuned to a child's palate. Each dish comes with a fruit skewer and vanilla yogurt dipping sauce. My son ordered pasta with cheese sauce ( okay so technically mac and cheese is on the menu but my son commented that this was the best "mac and cheese" he's ever tasted. I tried it, it was excellent. The fruit on the skewer was fresh and flavorful and the dipping sauce was great. I tried the apricot and fig salad which was very good. I left excited to come back with my husband to try more of the menu. A few days later we decided to go there for dinner. I got online and read some reviews, some of the reviews made me wonder if our next experience would be as good as the first, I have to say it was even better. First I'll address the service, both times we experiences excellent, very attentive service. As far as atmosphere, we wanted a cozy place with a relaxing feel, the lighting, music and decor succeed in creating the atmosphere we were looking for. Now for the food. After reading the reviews we went with the braised pork belly, it is as amazing as everyone says. We also tried the calamari and the potato medley. Both were very good. For entrees we ordered the sirloin and bone-in pork chop. The pork chop comes with a red wine fig reduction sauce and sweet potato hash. The combination of flavors is amazing. The sirloin came with polenta fries, hazel dell mushroom demi glaze and crispy onion strings, it had the misfortune of being compared to everything else we had and seemed just okay. The service, the atmosphere and the food made this an excellent evening out with my husband. I am impressed with how responsive management is to every negative review on this website. They seem to have a sincere desire to make it right. When we received our bill there was a comment card with a note from the manager explaining that he reads every comment and takes them to heart. He also asks that you please see him if anything about your experience does not meet your expectation. It's great to have a restaurant of this caliber in Loveland. We will be returning soon.

From Andy our superior server, to the crazy good craft cocktails and my stellar picks from the tapas, pizza and mains menu...this place was perfect! Skip Denver and Boulder and come straight to Loveland!!

Small towns in mountainous states such as Wyoming or Colorado generally afford tourists and patrons one or two fantastic restaurants, alongside a decent brewery in town as well. With a fusion-tapas menu, you might not fare too well if you are looking for burgers and fries (though you can have that exact meal for a bit more expensive than you might anticipate--$10 or so). But, if you are flexible with what this unique joint offers, you might be pleasantly surprised. Alongside its decent (VERY local) beer selection and cocktail variety, salmon potato cakes, salads, fresh soups, and artisan breads (think raisin and olive loaves) make for an awesome lunch. Next Door F&D brings the heat. But, not in a pretentious way. It seems to stand as the only fine(r) dining establishment in town, so they do not have to act overly snobby with their menu and drink offerings. A quick tip: if you are reading this review on Yelp, note that you can have a free beverage if you check-in with Yelp.

There was a lot I liked and then some things I just did not like about this place. I went here for dinner the other night with my parents and was excited to try this place out as I had heard so many good things about it. We started off with the steak tartare which was awesome! It was a rather large portion atop watermelon rinds and the dish just came together so perfectly it melted in my mouth every time I took a bite. For dinner I chose the steak and frites, while my mom opted for the short ribs and my step-dad got the cioppino. My step-dad raved about his dish and devoured it almost immediately. My mom and I both thought our meat dishes could have used a little more seasoning. I did like the smoky flavor of hers, but admit that was really the only flavor that stood out to me on her dish. My steak was just basic and the hollandaise did nothing for me. Maybe it was because it was prepared with brown butter which is why I didn't care for it. The frites on the other hand were so tasty that by the end, all of us were grabbing them off my plate. I do have to mention that the Tempranillo wine I had with dinner, was perfect. So smooth and complimentary to my meal that I ended up getting 2 glasses instead of just one. Dessert was 2 dishes split amongst us. My mom and I opted for the chocolate fudge cake paired with the Fonseca 10yr tawny. Umm, yum!! That was so tasty together. My step-dad got the almond cake which was nice and light. He of course inhaled that before we were able to get more than a bite off his plate. I would be willing to go here again, but would probably try something different in hopes for a tastier meal.

Horrible. This place tries to get fancy with small portions and odd ingredients. We had the BLT appetizers. Disgusting. The piece of fresca cheese was so big that it was slimy and disgusting, but it least it cost too much for two bites of food and almost made me puke. The seafood dish my wife ordered had the toast soaked in fish juice. Inedible. My 22 dollar flank streak was a pile of French fries, plain leaf lettuce, and five small chunks of streak with mayonnaise to dip it in. But at least it was a waste of money. The waitress was friendly but bland. My son's had the 15 dollar hamburgers. They were good, but nowhere near as good as a red robin 9 dollar burger. Sorry, but if you like this place then you like to waste your money.

Loved the restaurant. The ambiance was great with old rustic doors, beams and super cool lighting fixtures. The food was awesome. Try the shaved Brussels sprouts and the stuffed peppers. The bacon wrapped medjule dates were also great. Our waitress, Beth, was incredible and gave us great recommendations including some nice wine selections. We will definitely be back.

What a fantastic experience! The wait staff was attentive and enthusiastic, the food tasted delicious (I had the salmon- so nicely prepared), the dishes were presented beautifully, and the decor is gorgeous. We splurged for dessert which was absolutely worth it. I will definitely be back!

If your really hungry and cheap like me you will be unhappy , if you love spending money and like to keep trim you will love it here. If you like alcohol you will like this place too. Food is good and original and service was exceptional. But I would only go back if I was trying to impress someone. Way to trendy and fofo for me. Cut the prices in half or more And I would live there. Hard to find larger portions and good prices on 4th street in loveland

We decided to try something new in Loveland while out at the Sculpture festival. It was a wonderful experience. The service was promt, but could have used a little more friendlyness to it. But I am giving her a break she was training. The drinks we great, with a very cool cocktail meun we each tried something different. I had to use my deal for yelp and had the sangria, red of course. It was yummy, a little dull but still good. There was also the Colorado Moscow Mull on the menu, which my Aunt had, but it did not come in the traditional copper cup, which I found odd. We choose to do tapas (they did have a full food menu as well). All of our choices were very good. I think our fav was between the lamb and the tuna. mmmm so good. Overall a great place to stop into.

My husband recently had lunch here with our 8 year old grandson, who loves food and trying new flavors. My husband explained that our grandson is interested in cooking and talks about being a chef someday. The server was wonderful and to cap off an outstanding meal, she brought the chef out and they gave our grandson a tour of the kitchen. He's still talking about the meal and the wonderful experience he had. Pretty amazing for a restaurant and staff to go out of their way for an 8 year old future customer. You can bet we'll be returning.

I really don't like tapas. But here we go. Drinks: I went here one time for the happy hour. They have a good selection of beers, and I had one I never had before. I think the people I was with who got drinks that were mixed liked them too. Food: I'm not a fan of tapas because the plates are so small. If the plates were cheaper I'd be OK with it. That being said I was only going for a snack so I wasn't hungry, and one tapas plate from the happy hour menu was sufficient enough. I got the fried calamari. It came with marinara and blended sort of Aglio e olio sauce. That was excellent. On the menu there was also rattlesnake soup, and some rabbit dish. So it has some adventurous fare. The calamari was done right, night and light and not chewy at all. Very good. Decor: I love the inside. I don't know how to describe it other than downtown trendy with industrial edge? I don't know but I really like the inside of the palce. Service: My waiter was very prompt, and attentive. Split our bill four ways (for each person) which for some reason seems to be a problem at some other places. Parking: Was a bit of a pain, I had to go up and down the street several times before landing a space finally. Price: The happy hour prices were good but I most likely won't be back unless to grab a quick bite off the happy hour menu. Like I said before I'm a not a huge fan of tapas.

Went on our way through town and it was dead (3/16). Bartender barely wiped the bar when I asked because it was sticky and dirty. only three others at the bar and from conversation, sounded like one worked there. He was chatting away with the waitress at the end of the bar and seemed very disinterested in us. (Didn't ID either of us which to me on ST pAtty's day weekend isn't smart) Had one bar... took a while for check and then again to pay. Most likely wouldnt return.

This is one of my favorite places in Loveland! They have a great atmosphere and service is typically on the mark...I've had a few disappointing visits when it comes to service but the good never disappoints. Drinks are top notch and change seasonally with the menu. Get the parmesan truffle fries while they have them! For lunch...go for the short rib grilled cheese...so amazing!

I was helping my boyfriend move to Colorado and during my one day stay, I wanted a nice place to have lunch and luckily I came across this place. It's located downtown next to a coffee shop and across from a very unique antique shop. We ordered a few things and it was all pretty good. My boyfriend ordered the open-face steak sandwich which was delicious. I ordered their crab cake tapas plate which was okay. The sauce was good and the crab cake itself wasn't bad but it lacked crab meat which was a bit disappointing. The tapas plates are paired with a side salad but they forgot my salad and I didn't bother to ask because by the time I realized the mishap, my main course had already arrived. So for $8.50 for a single crab cake was a bit disappointing. I also ordered the spicy pulled pork pizza and that was good. . The prices were a bit steep. The lunch open-face steak sandwich was around $12.00 and my personal pizza was $13.50. All-in-all I had a fine experience. I'll probably pay them a visit again when I'm in town.

Our first visit we had tapas at the sidewalk seating. The Caponata, White Bean Hummus was especially tasty, and our last dish, the Mushroom Tart was very pedestrian. Everything else in between was tasty but on the side of being too strong with the spices. The Special Sangria--yuck! This had a bitter, medicinal taste.....chemical taste, but when asked, they happily traded it out for a regular sangria. Thank you! Our second visit we dined in side with some friends. Everyone devoured their dishes, I ordered a pizza, and thought it was downright delicious! Crisp crust, smokey flavor, I like more unusual flavor and ingredient pairings, or simple clean food, to give you a hint at my palette. Loveland needs a place like this, with a lively atmosphere that isn't a sports bar, small plates, and a more sophisticated menu. Long live Next Door!

This place has a very cool atmosphere - interesting up cycled (?) decor, fun spot in downtown Loveland. A nice date spot and a nicer spot to hang out in. Food has generally been good the couple of times I've been there. Nothing amazing, sometimes a little overpriced, but good food. Service isn't bad. Drinks are terrible. The mixed drinks are too sweet and not boozy enough. Ah well, just stick to beer or wine when you go there. I will come here again, maybe for a course special like they had for Valentine's Day.

Pleasantly surprised. We hadn't been back since the opening couple of months because of poor service and mediocre food. So.....last night we decided to give it a try. Wow! The service was outstanding and the food was amazing. We started off with a couple of tapas before choosing the hanger steak which was cooked perfectly and was complimented by some tasty frites. And everything we ate was gluten-free. My wife had one of the best mojitos, and I enjoyed the wine. We'll definitely be returning. Thanks!

Tapas are much too small for the pice. We were a party of six, and as it was the first time there for many of us, it was agreed we would try six different tapas. Many of them were too small to share between us (cut into four small pieces). The flavor profile was above average for the style, but at $8-$10 each, expectations were higher than what was served. As the tapas were unsubstantial, we all ordered Dinner Entrees, as well. We all tasted the various Entrees ordered, and agreed that they were good, but nothing remarkable. The total bill exceeded $200 for the six of us and we felt that was too much for what we were served.

We are new to the area and we came here last night. The bartender was so nice and helpful, the hostess was just great too. I wanted to book a big party and both were very very helpful. It really hope the space works for us! We only had drinks, last night, but we will for sure be back for food sometime soon.

Stopped by with friends after work. Great upscale atmosphere and a real asset for downtown Loveland with a higher class clientele than I am accustomed too. Lots of suits and ties. I prefer swim suits and bikini ties. I was surprised by the popularity of this place and how fast it filled up. Not sure if they take reservations but if they do you should get one. We tried all of the appetizers. The stuffed dates were outstanding but the pork bellies should be avoided at all cost unless you love a mouthful of pure fat. Not much makes me gag but this did the trick. The service and presentation was excellent. While we didn't have dinner the ambiance was very romantic and well appointed. The way tables are separated and isolated is a real plus in my book. Cocktails were a little on the expensive side $6+. I am not a fan yet because a Captain and Diet shouldn't cost $8 bucks unless my toes are in the sand, ocean splashing my feet, and bikinis everywhere. Or at least make it a tall double. But not a 4 oz drink - sorry but that's taking advantage of me. The atmosphere, service, and presentation are not worth $4 more per drink.

  • Ben M.

Usually when I get tapas it's just overpriced appetizers rather then what tapas is suppose to be. A sophisticated conversation encouraging food. If it was the reduction sauce alone, I would order the bacon wrapped dates. Oh... Wow.

This is my favorite restaurant of all time! LOVED the tapas -- any of the peppers are just amazing. It has a romantic ambiance and is just wonderful. Good scotch selection for those of you that drink scotch - I do not. Wine is great and they have a flight of wines. Any of the pepper dishes are just incredible. Peanut butter pie dessert - how can you go wrong? My boyfriend loved the mussles, fried avocado anyone? Mmm hmm. They do food pairings and they will be doing so with the Grimm Brothers beers coming up so I will write another review. Love love love this place.

  • Karen S.

We got the 2 for $20 Tapas: dips, bacon dates, taquitos, and stuffed peppers. I liked the peppers the best but none of them really blew my socks off as I like the hummus better at Costco and bacon dates are easy to make. We blew our dinner budget on a few bites of food and then we went home to make dinner since we were still hungry. Maggianos offers a 4-course all you can eat for $30 and I'm going to do that in the future as Tapas does not offer enough food for the cost. The server was very professional and friendly.

We came to a decent wait but it looked like the place to be. Inside, the ambiance was nice. They used pieces from other, former restaurants and establishments and integrated those into this place to add some character. Overall, I thought the food was hit-or-miss. There were some really good dishes but some completely missed the mark. For instance, the pork belly and scallops were good but the short ribs and tart were disappointing.

Awesome, Amazing, delicious, fun, priced right, great food, cool people, awesome local beers (including big beaver & Loveland Aleworks),great martinis, great wine selection, Mother's Day brunch!!! Bottomless mimosas! Tapas done right! Local food critic said pork belly "not good". Like most food critics, he needs his head examined (freaking amazing!!!). Finally Loveland has some real class. Try the trout, holy crap it's good. If you want steak and potatoes, go to nasty ass Golden Corral. If you want a high quality, classy experience, go here.

Went here the other day for dinner. Everything we ordered was very good! I had grilled chicken over quinoa and it was absolutely fantastic. Chicken was very tender and I could cut it with a fork! Girlfriend had one of their vegetarian dishes that she also enjoyed! The owner came and talked to us and he was very nice! Our server was very good as well! No complaints with the service or the speed. I was also very impressed by the ambiance. The place is decorated well and you can tell they put a lot of effort into making it what it is!. The only reason I am giving them 4 stars instead of 5 is because everything on the menu seemed overpriced... All the dinners were at least $14.

I frequently travel to the front range of Colorado, and decided to give this little place a try since it was close to my hotel. It's a tapas place, but I had their chicken entree with quinoa risotto, butternut squash, etc. It was awesome. Dessert was equally good. My server, Ed, was very pleasant and helpful. And the food came out quicker than expected. I'm always excited to support a restaurant that uses local ingredients! Decor is interesting and comfortable.

You know the expression, "Don't poke the bear?" Not everyone I work with has heard of that before so after a long and tiring day at work, I told the hubs that I wasn't cooking and I needed a drink. Having been to Next Door Cafe once before (ironically for a work lunch), I suggested using the coupon that was burning a hole on the fridge door and taking my husband there for his first time at the joint. Meh is a pretty good summary of this experience; mostly due to the service. The first time I came was for lunch and service was speedy and the food was good enough to rate a second visit. Today is a Tuesday and for being a historically slower night in the restaurant biz, it took a shockingly long time to get our beers (10 minutes), tapas appetizer (20 minutes) and entree (about 30 minutes). Add the 10 to the 20 to the 30 and that gives you a good idea of the time we spent in a half full restaurant. We ordered the beer and tapas and then our waitress disappeared for a while. A long while. Finally she came back and we had to tell her we wanted to order the entrees. To which she "joked" that no one wanted to cook before Thanksgiving and all came out to eat. Insult? Excuse? Who knows? I ordered the padron peppers for the tapas and they were right on the mark (when they finally arrived). We decided on entrees and I scored a tad better than the hubs with the goat cheese polenta and mushroom ragu. The polenta balls were creamy on the inside and crispy on the outside and soaked up the slightly spicy, yet rich tomato broth well. The hubs got the Wagyu beef bolognese sauce with fresh pasta. The "beef" tasted suspiciously like lamb and the pasta was way overcooked. We came, we waited, we ate, used the coupon, got out of there and will more than likely not be coming back.

I love this place. We have been here 3 or 4 times and have had consistently excellent food. My 3-year-old loves the kids' menu (it comes with a scoop of ice cream, so of course it will be a winner.) Places like this that serve sophisticated food, beer and cocktails, but are kid-friendly are priceless to me. I dream about something like this opening in Longmont. Pretty please!

My wife and I have been waiting fora place like Next Door to open in our sleepy town of Loveland. We ate there last night and everything was awesome. Food, service and staff. The hostess told us there was a 2 hr wait. Funny thing is that there where open tables. We sat at the bar and had a great time. John the bartender did us up right. Thanks! This is a must go place.

Stopped in during Happy Hour to find a Yelp check in plus HH prices gives you 2 drafts for $3 (with food purchase, of course)! We took care of the food purchase trying 3 of the appetizer HH specials...the pork belly bites, bacon wrapped dates stuffed with almonds, and padron peppers with some sort of chipotle-ish mayo & a sesame/sea salt blend. If you've never had Padron peppers, they are fun, with 1 in every 10 or so being fairly spicy, and 1 in 5 or so medium spicy, you never really know what to expect when you bite into one, now that's food imitating life. It was a lovely day that you wanted to sit outside on, However upon spying their comfortable chairs inside we went with window seats, a good compromise. The chairs are relaxing and do well to keep you there ordering another round. Another plus of indoor seating is the atmosphere they have created with interesting uses of old door frames, or the wall up front that on it's backside is a rusted tin tile design, turning a room divider into pleasing artwork. All three were wonderfully delicious and the padron peppers, i'm happy to say, came in a decent quantity (not a quarter cup of maybe 4-6 pieces like some places are known to serve up their HH olive/pepper blends etc). Overall staff was very accommodating, my only regret is I did not bring a large enough appetite. Combined with the cozy pedestrian friendly feel of the neighborhood, complete with public art to pose in front of outside the Rialto, and news of the 2nd Friday "walks" I hear take place in this area; I must say I will be easily lured to Loveland more often...

I love to see the continued Foodie expansion in Northern Colorado. Next Door is the latest wave of this, serving up small plate spanish tapas in a way that makes your taste buds sing. The tapas list is long so even if you come with a group of 6 you can probably get by with nothing but small plates. They do have entree sized dishes as well but why not try as many things as possible with your friends? We had a group of 3 and tried: - Stuffed peppadew with serrano ham and goat cheese - Fried artichoke with piquillo pepper - Fried avocado - Polenta and goat cheese fritters - Duck confit taquitos with chocolate mole sauce - Salmon tartare - Scallop ceviche - Bread pudding - Flour less chocolate chipotle cake - Ice cream cookie sandwich Their wine list is excellent and extremely fairly priced. Also, they have a great cocktail program... you know that will be the case when you walk in and see their mason jars filled with house-made bitters! I will definitely come back here.

This place is awesome. Great atmosphere and everything we ate was made to perfection. The skirt steak was some of the best meat I've ever put in my mouth. The drinks were great as well. I don't give many five stars but I would give this place five stars if the service hadn't been slow. They were super busy but I shouldn't have to sit for 10 minutes with an empty beer glass. Prices are high but very fair.

Three coworkers and I came here for dinner on a business trip. We all had yelp and all ordered a free sangria. The white was decent, but the red was pretty dry and not "sangria"-ish. One coworker ordered the burger which he liked. Another, the potato and lamb croquettes which seemed to be listed as coming WITH grown up tater tots. She received a plate of five tater tots. We all expected she would be receiving the lamb portion after. When checking, they said the tater tots had lamb IN them. She is a HUGE lamb fan and couldn't taste anything but potato, so they didn't seem worth the money (I realize these are tapas, but some are more expensive than other tapas places I've been considering what you're getting). Another coworker and I split a few dishes to include the margarita pizza (loved - nice and thin crust), the short rib (just ok - super tender and sauce was pretty good, but overall flavor lacking), the three dip trio (the tzatziki cucumber sauce was pretty amazing, but the other two were just ok and they gave like three crackers to dip), and the mushroom tart (best dish of the night, barely any goat cheese flavor to my delight). Overall, the experience was just ok, but we would all try it again to focus on the good and maybe try and few new things.

two stars...Too salty, too noisy, (weird acoustics) and wait staff needs much training and whipping into shape to make up for the overly salted and priced food. I might try again, maybe, and I work downtown so I'd wished it would be good. Updated to three stars...My second experience was at their sidewalk dining area and it was much better. Being outside made it pleasant . Waitstaff has improved in their organization, are friendly and know the menu. (I guess it changes frequently.) I'll be back again to try more tapas to see if they get even better.

We have fallen in love with this place. They have fantastic tapas...you can order two or three and get it instead of a meal. But the entrees are delicious as well. Usually we get the tapas, but the have a special where if you order two entrees you get a free bottle of wine... are you kidding me, that's a no brainier. Make sure you leave room for dessert though, because they have several really nice options. I would suggest trying them on different nights because they have different specials like $1 sangrias or a beer and burger night. Next Door Food and Drink is a really good date night spot or a good place to go out with friends. I have never tried, but doesn't seem like a good place to bring the kids.

MOST DELICIOUS FOOD IN DOWNTOWN LOVELAND!!!! This place is absolutely delicious. You can order anything on the menu and I swear you won't be disappointed. I give it only 4 stars because it is really expensive for the amount of food you get which are very small portions and also, the waitress we had wasn't the friendliest. She smiled but that was about it. I recommend this place for sure.

Love everything about this place...well, almost everything. Food and service have always been spot on! They recently changed their menu and removed the turkey and Brie sandwich I dreamed about. :( The beet cocktail was amazing, but that too has been removed and the bar staff turn over is so high no one knows how to make it anymore :( I will continue to try to fall in love with other items on the seasonal menu.

I haven't had a lot of tapas, but this place was pretty yummy with peaceful and timely service. I don't recall the name of our waitress...she was quite pleasant! We went for some happy hour and some regular tapas. Here we go: Steamed mussels with curry coconut milk lime sauce- the mussels were so tender and a great size! The sauce was tangy and creamy...yum! Crispy pork belly with sweet and sour sauce- Very tender and flavorful although not crispy. Delicious, thick non salty bacon was what came to mind. :) Dipping trio with olive tapenade, hummus, and baba ganoush- I can take or leave the baba ganoush (probably leave), but it was good when combined with the others. I love when they finish hummus off with a little olive oil. Caesar salad- I LOVE caesar salads, this one was okay...not my favorite. It had way too much cheese and that was what pretty much ruined it for me. Also, the lettuce was not that fresh. It did come with these little crunchy Spanish spiced croutons. They complimented the salad nicely. Braised short ribs- Oh my god! These might have been my favorite. SO tender, savory, and delicious with the au jus and horseradish sauce. Seriously delicious. Fried avocado with tomatillo sauce- I love all things avocado, so this was a nice, mild treat. Almost a pallet cleanser. It was how it sounds...chunky slices of avocado fried and served over a tart bed of green tomatillo sauce. Very tasty indeed. Chocolate bread pudding with mint ice cream- I love the combination of hot dessert with ice cream and I do enjoy a good bread pudding of most varieties. However, I didn't love the bread pudding here. It tasted like soggy hot chocolate. The ice cream was really refreshing though. I should have had a bowl of that.
