First time at the roost, we had an amazing evening to enjoy the beautiful rooftop patio. It was definitely busy for a Monday evening. Service was great, could not have asked for more; other than me trying to double check that a medium done burger would be warm and pink in the middle. After being assured that medium would be a warm pink middle they proceeded to make the burger well done. It was very juicy but being a Midwest born and raised boy it was definitely not a burger cooked as ordered. The buffalo fries had an amazing taste to them, but unfortunately they were not crispy any longer after being tossed in Franks hot sauce. I love some spice but soggy fries are not something that I would call appetizing. I will definitely give it a second try because the atmosphere was top notch and our bartender while we waited for a table was also extremely nice.

We tried this place on a Saturday around 4:15pm and I really wanted to like this place. Everything started off right with seating in the bar area, which was a good size with access to the outside area. The menu selection was very appealing...we ended up trying several items and none of them disappointed: The candied bacon sliders, the lettuce pork wraps, the polenta bites and the fries with bacon and mushrooms...all delicious. Nothing special about our drinks. Unfortunately we waited nearly 20 minutes before having to get up and ask someone to come over and take our order (we were the only seated table). The waitress was standing only feet from us applying lip gloss about 10 times and checking her makeup while glancing over at us while we waited. Not once did she come over and ask if we had been helped. After finally getting our order placed, as we waited for our food, every time she came by she kept expressing how sorry she was for the wait, which just kept reminding us of how long we had to wait. Needless to say, once we finished we left. May try again in the future and try the dining area, but aside from the food, there isn't much of a compelling reason to try this place again.

The short rib sandwich is amazing! Owned by a chef, which you can tell by the quality and selection of food. Also, a great selection of beer. Two outdoor patios (one is a rooftop bar/patio). Great Place!

When lunching in Longmont, you usually can't go wrong ordering a burger. This past week I took a friend out for her birthday. We decided to try someplace new. We went to The Roost. I had the Cuban sandwich and she had the pork mini tacos. We tried a few varieties of their French fries, as well. The food was absolutely wonderful! It was really a nice change. We also ordered cocktails and I was delighted to be given the choice of a local distillery's liquor in my drink. We had a great lunch. And the staff was so laid back. They were very attentive, yet we didn't feel rushed and had ample time to catch up.
(5)Lou P.
Too crowded, too noisy, and waits of over an hour to get in? No, thanks.
(2)Kris Z.
Our first visit here...great atmosphere if a bit echo-y due to the industrial feel inside - all hard surfaces. Our waitress was great! On the ball, knowledgeable about the menu, and very personable. My husband ordered the Sourdough Burger and Mushroom Fries, the kids ordered the usual kids' meals (included fruit, fries and a drink), and I ordered the California Burger with Buffalo Fries. The kids' meals were a bit smaller than elsewhere, and even at $5, was overpriced for the amount of food. While the burgers had food flavor, they were literally dripping grease. I'm glad they use locally sourced ingredients, but with a menu limited to sandwiches and salads, it's more of a place to come and drink, not eat.
(3)Jason S.
Love it! Great food and beer selection! Huge selection/variety of food. Almost all beers from Colorado. Food was delicious; sweet potatoes fries dusted with cinnamon sugar with marshmallow sauce were awesome. Cuban sandwich & sour dough burger were very tasty. 2 main courses & 2 drinks were $44.
(5)Todd C.
Great food! Great beer at a reasonable price! Most tender calamari evar! Everything was very favorable. Rooftop patio was awesome. They lack some knowledge on the beers, but they haven't been open very long. We will try many more items on the menu soon!
(5)Leo P.
The food is great and I love the ambiance and live music! There's not a bad seat in the house. Try my favorite: California burger and parmesan fries!
(5)Kajur K.
Okay. Willing to cut a little slack to our dining adventures but this place is awful. Pleasant wait staff but the yummy looking fries were cold! Not warm but cold. Apologies and excuses with a 10 minute wait and they were even colder. Pitiful! No comp. Nothing. Do not waste your time as there are so many other wonderful restaurants and bars in Longmont.

I had heard nothing but good things about The Roost. Imagine my surprise, when sitting at The Roost, waiting for the food that I ordered, I decided to check Yelp. I was worried about the poor reviews The Roost had received. My wife ordered the short rib tacos, and I ordered the Roost burger. We both LOVED our respective meals. Yeah, pricing might be a little on the high side, for Longmont. Bottom line, you get what you pay for. I would have NO problems recommending The Roost to anyone. I would chalk the negative reviews up to people who are inherently hard/impossible to please.
(4)Ian L.
Good food and great service. I only knock it down a star because they don't always list everything that is in a dish on the menu. The first time was with the thai pork tacos. The menu didn't mention the crema that was on top. The second time was with the roost burger. Again, the menu didn't mention the aioli yet there it was. If you have food allergies, do yourself a favor and ask the server if whatever you are allergic to is in the dish you are ordering. It may simply not be listed in the menu description...
(4)John F.
Walked in sat at bar, hipster bartender was too busy talking to the cute waitresses to bother waiting on me.
(1)Kristen L.
Let me start with the positive.. The food and drinks are outstanding. The atmosphere is very inviting, the decor is very stylish. The waitstaff is attentive. Now for the negative..We decided to go for a late lunch Sunday afternoon, the restaurant was not busy and we sat immediately upon entering. We ordered a short rib sandwich with a side of clam chowder and it took almost 35 mins for those two items (which are prepped ahead of time) to be delivered. The most frustrating part about this was that we could see what must have been the entire kitchen staff going in and out for a smoke break.. Another complaint, the employee smoking section should not be right next to the patio where people are trying to eat.
(3)Jon T.
I don't care about what the negative reviews say. I have nothing but compliments for the Roost. I have been now four times, three for client meetings and one on a double date and have only had a small amount of any complaint. Said complaint was dealt with so quickly and with such generosity that 5 stars will be the exact correct number of stars. The short rib tacos and the pork tacos are insane. They should be illegal. Flavor and fun platings. Scary great taste. Bold and fresh. Perfect as far as I am concerned. The salads could be bigger, but to what end honesty? More roughage? Yeah. Well.....sure. I had the sesame ahi salad and the avocado with steak. Both were perfect. Flavor popped out of the bowl and slapped me across the face. The avocado salad was big and bright with snappy fresh onion flavors and a creamy spicy dressing. Sesame ahi was adorned with a soy based dressing I could drink with a straw. Just saying. The service upstairs is getting worked out. Sometimes it can get slow, but the end result is well worth it. Also one of the best bartenders I have ever run across. Look for the curly red mustache. Can't miss it. All that and they step up for the customer when needed. I hope they stick it out. I'm sold.
(5)Lydia R.
Great service. Different foods then what you usually see. Not good if you hate Cilantro as it's everywhere! Loud atmosphere.
(4)Glenn M.
With a family group of 12, from 7 to 90 years old, it's hard to find a place to accommodate the tastes and preferences of the whole herd. This place was above and beyond ordinary. The service was attentive, friendly and very in tune with questions about the menu. We tried a variety of items, the menu featured special brunch items, along with the regular menu. My Eggs Benedict was excellent, as were the bacon-bleu cheese fries. Pancakes, carrot cake French toast, a burger and a couple egg dishes.....all were excellent.
(5)Matt T.
Had lunch here today with my wife and it was great! Really like the atmosphere of The Roost! The service was pleasant and attentive... Food was awesome, had the Lobster Roll, Short Rib Tacos, avocado salad and an appetizer of the Buffalo Blue Cheese fries. Great portions and flavor a were super. As a chef always looking for great new places to hang out and get good food. Beer selection and drink menu is super... Can't wait to go back and get some of the small plates and the white sangria. Definitely going back!!!

Drove by a week ago and was thrilled to see a new restaurant/bar opening in Longmont! My friends and I like to go out several times a week for drinks and dinner so was very excited to try this out tonight! A. Great atmosphere, HUGE place with a restaurant side and bar side as well as a roof top patio! Cannot wait to try that out once it's open! B. Food menu immediately got my attention! Tons of delicious- sounding portions and a wide variety of types of food. We had the queso appetizer and it was delicious! For my meal I ordered the beef tacos and they were also delicious! Cannot describe! :) C. Sangria pitcher was good, enough for 3 people to share. D. We ordered 2 desserts to share. Crum brûlée and the Sundae. Also both amazing! One of the owners, don't remember his name but has a mean beard, came over and talked with us and was very friendly and down to earth. Any restaurant owner who comes out and talks to the guests is a winner in my books. Also great prices! We spent only 75$ between three people and we had all the bells and whistles! *** I was told there is live music Friday and Saturday nights which I am super looking forward to. Also an event going on for Saint Patrick's day which I will definitely be attending!* This place is exactly what Longmont needs! :) can't wait to go back and try out more food and beer!

Two words: Steak Frites. You know how sometimes you eat something so good that when it's gone, you're tempted to pick up the plate and lick it clean to make sure you get every last bit of that amazing flavor? Yeah, this dish was it. Delightful combination of fries and perfectly cooked steak, with so much wonderful flavor, and then you top it off with caramelized bacon?! Be still my heart!! On top of that, the drink I had - bourbon sweet tea - was amazing. For this iced tea and bourbon loving girl; that was heaven in a pint glass. My server, Tatum, was very attentive but not obnoxious about it, and was very friendly, she definitely made it an enjoyable experience. Definitely going back again soon!
(5)b y.
Very nice roof deck. Not all styles of the French fries work but good and flavorful Parmesan fries. We were introduced to shishito peppers here, which are quite tasty and not overly spicy. Good selection of appetizers.
(4)Al J.
Lunched here at the recommendation of a friend, and we were NOT disappointed! Sunday brunch menu had several breakfasty options and their regular food/drink menu was delightfully varied. The salads all looked tempting; the sandwich list and wraps make you want to have one of each. My California burger was outrageously good! We were all too full to try the deserts, which was shameful...they all looked sinful. Waitress was very attentive. The day was overcast and the Main Street-side windows were all open providing a nice breeze. Great value for the $$$. Can't wait to return!
(5)Kassi L.
So good! Try the sweet potato fries with marshmallow sauce! Kind of a limited menu. But everything on it great. Really good local beer selection as well. Not to mention, the upstairs patio is awesome for patio drinking. Also, they're a new restaurant, so give them some slack on getting the service better.
(5)Derek W.
Great service and an amazing menu, not to mention a rooftop patio and a pretty damn good beer selection.
(5)Siri J.
Delicious food, cheap pitchers of delicious beverages. Decent price. Service could have been a little better - faster for one and the waitress wasn't the brightest creature on earth, but it worked. The service was okay to good, but she didn't really "get" a basic concept when we asked her about the preparation of my friend's food. She did go back and ask the kitchen, which was nice, but the concepts were above her, for whatever reason. Maybe she was tired, fair enough. She got a little confused with the dessert too, but we survived. Got the pitcher of margaritas to share, and with two people, we each got about 4+ drinks each and a very very nice buzz. Couldn't taste the alcohol (or it was so good that I didn't notice,) just nice tart margaritas as margaritas should be. Seriously some of the best margaritas I've ever had, and having lived in the Mecca (San Diego,) of Margaritas, that says something. Got a chicken and brie sandwich which was to die for, and the balsamic and bacon and blue cheese fries as an upgrade to the regular fries. So good. The onion relish I asked for on the side, because I've had bad experiences with "relishes", but that was a mistake. I wish there had been more, smoother my sandwich with out. The relish was straight onion and flavor. (I hate pickles and Chicago onion relish, inn the part, it's had funky flavor to me, so I was wary, but this onion relish was just like grilled onions, so delicious, not sweet.) (Possibly the fries could've used a bit more blue cheese, bacon, and sautéed onions, but that's kind of a universal truth.) The crème brulée was "pomegranate", and there was a VERY subtle hint of the pomegranate in it, which was pleasant, not over-powering. It was supposed to come with a balsamic whip-cream but the waitress misunderstood an objection and had it removed from ours. Still tasty. The brownie sundae was delicious too, (my companion allowed me a few, bites,) not over-powering again, which is always a plus.
(4)Melissa B.
Overall, we love this place. Lots of beer on tap and the food is really good! They have this awesome selection of fries with stuff on top, creative Sunday Brunch drinks and if you ever get the short rib tacos or sandwich, you will never eat anywhere else again! The staff are pretty awesome. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because one of the male owners (it's two couples who own the place) is a real piece of work. He has ruined our evening 3 times by kicking people out 10 minutes after it closed and wouldn't let people finish their beer even though the bartender willing served up. He also threatened to fire the entire staff in front of the entire restaurant. We love the place so much, that we won't let him stop us from enjoying our meals there, but next time he pulls any kind of ahole move, it will be filmed and up on youtube. I have not seen him recently so hopefully the other owners decided he was best served up behind closed doors.

Met a friend for lunch. Loved the rooftop seating. Had their chicken and brie foccacio sandwich with sweet potato fries - delicious.
(4)Mark R.
Stopped in for a beer and some dinner. Was not disappointed. The buffalo fries and pickles we got for appetizers were delicious. The bar is spacious and well done with plenty of seats and tvs to watch a game. Will definitely be back.

I truly had high hopes walking up to this restaurant. The building is beautiful has a very clean logo so my mom and I decided to give it a try. We asked the hostess at the front if we could have dogs on the back patio and she said absolutely. It will only be 10 minutes. after 30 minutes of waiting I decided to go check out the back patio to see how busy it was. there were three tables open so I went back to the hostess and asked if we could be seated. I was told it would be a few more minutes they were waiting on a table to get up and leave. after another 10 minutes of waiting they said that there was a table available on the patio and we went back there with our dog. We sat down and started to look over the menu which looked like it was full of delicious foods. our waiter finally came to greet us 15 minutes after we sat down and took our drink order. we decided to order right away since we've been waiting for so long. my mom ordered a large avocado salad and I asked the server what he would recommend out of the sourdough burger or the lobster roll and he said he had not tried either of them. I ended up ordering the lobster roll. . We then continued to wait for another 40 minutes until our server started wondering where the food was. he brought out our food and my moms salad was literally 15 pieces of lettuce half an avocado and very little dressing. Please note that she ordered a large salad. This salad was the small version. the lobster roll that I ordered which was the most expensive thing on the menu was the smallest dish imaginable. simply lobster on a piece of toast and a very small side salad. We both finished most of my meals with in 10 minutes because of how small they were. Overall this was a very bad first time experience and I really was looking forward to a good meal sitting on the patio with great atmosphere. I hope they can turn themselves around but until then we will not be returning.

Highly recommend the roost burger and the mushroom fries. Great food, great place. Highly recommended!
(5)Joe T.
I cannot begin how to explain how unbelievable this place is talk about handcrafted food i'm talking about stuff that is not on your usual menu. Our waitress was Emily the place was packed but that did not affect our service she was on it, hospitality was great. One thing that really impressed us as well, Dan the owner who was involved came to our table to introduce himself. That goes along way specially with employees. The live band was great entertainment we are looking forward to Roost being our preferred restaurant, great job.
(5)Kayten K.
My new Longmont LOVE! Great food, great service, and great atmosphere. They accommodated my large party of 11 quickly and never skipped a beat!
(5)Rebekah D.
Very good food. I recommend the chicken brioche sandwich. Unfortunately, they did not bring our appetizers first. As a new restaurant I'm sure they are still working out the kinks. I can't wait to try the marshmallow fries.
(4)Taylor G.
Went in last night (Friday) with my fiance to try it out. The quoted wait time was over an hour but we decided to grab a beer and hang out. The atmosphere and vibe was great. I loved the simple decor. We only waited about 45 mins and one of the hostesses pointed us to a high top in the bar. The bar is all open seating so it was nice that she pointed that out so we didn't have to wait for dining room seating. The place was packed and roaring but our waitress Emily was attentive and great! We ordered drinks, the Calamari and I had the California burger and my fiance ordered the Cuban. The calamari was different than what I am used to but it had great flavor. My burger was the best! And my fiance enjoyed his Cuban. One of the owners also stopped by and introduced herself which was a nice touch. There was also live music which was super cool. We are excited for this place and will definitely be returning.
(5)E C.
Decent upgrade to Longmont. Menu is uninspired, but food quality is decent. Good fries. Beer list needs upgrade. They close too early during the week. They'd do well by hosting weekly events there, i.e. trivia, music jams, gentrified karaoke...
(3)Shannon P.
The best pancakes I've ever had! Order them you will Thank me later! The bourbon sweet tea might be my new favorite drink! The food is excellent. Adding this to my favorite place to eat when I'm in Longmont!
(5)Paul H.
Food was on point and window seating gorgeous. Lobster slider and black bean burger delicious. A great addition to the Longmont scene.
(5)Anne S.
We've been here twice now, and everything we've ordered was delicious. The favorite so far is the Thai pork tacos. Yum. The service has been good and we like the "cool" atmosphere. The rooftop is great! I hope the location isn't cursed and The Roost sticks around a while because we plan to go back.
(4)Wendy Z.
We went here for a Tuesday night dinner with a group of 8 ladies. The service was rather slow initially, we were disappointed that the rooftop was closed for a private party. The food was excellent, not much of a happy hour. It does get very loud at dinner, hard to hear the people at your table.
(4)Paul Z.
The beer selection is great, at least 3 rate beer 100's on tap today. The food was pretty good. We had an avocado salad, Cuban and the fries. The fries were the weak link as they were flaccid. A few more choices may he in order. Service was a bit slow to start but improved throughout the meal. The space was not spectacular with too many right angles and corners. Several restaurants have failed at this location. The Roost offers quality which the failures did not.
(4)Ashlea B.
Wow. Very surprised to see 4 out 5 stars for this establishment. I will never return to this place. I have been there two times now and the wait has been unacceptable. The frustrating part is it has never been busy when I went there. We are understaffed is a terrible excuse. If your are understaffed do something about it. Food has been good when you receive it. Find another place to eat unless you prefer to wait a while.
(1)Dan S.
Fabulous! The atmosphere was great and the food even better. The Burrata app is to die for and the short rib sandwich will finish you off! Prices are very reasonable. I WILL go back and soon! Love this gem, highly recommended!
(5)Philipp S.
Great potential but not quite there yet. Nice location and interior. Wait staff was friendly but bar tenders in the back room didn't seem to care that people were trying to order drinks from them. The food was good but there's lots of room for improvement. The burrata was tasty but it came with crackers??? And the handcrafted bread didn't impress at all. Spicy ahi tempura was ok but needs more flavor and maybe one or two more ingredients. The lobster roll needs a makeover. Too much lettuce and cabbage, not enough lobster and sauce. Did taste mostly like greens on a bun. Bun was ok though. Short rib tacos were much better than the roll. But again a little too much of the cabbage and there are definitely better corn tortillas around that could improve this dish. We ordered side salads that were a little ridiculous. Not only did the salat not taste like much and dressing was lacking but it actually tasted like it was about to go bad, some veggies on the salat wouldn't hurt either. Romaine lettuce always seems like a very low end choice. The cocktails we tried were the Peach Cosmo, pomegranate Collins and Gin Mule. The gin mule was very good. The other two cocktails had this fake sweet taste and were not good at all. Might be lower shelf brands they use but the peach Cosmo tasted like bubble bath. I really hope they take reviews serious and work on a few things. I'd like to see more restaurants like roost pop up in longmont! I will give it a try again soon.
(3)Peggy R.
The short rib sandwich was delicious! We were disappointed with the lobster roll - flavorless.
(4)Mia D.
Casual food fare in what appears to be a newly-renovated building. Had a late lunch there yesterday, and the owner came out to graciously clear our plates and ask us about our meals, which both my fiancé and I thought were delicious. He got a sourdough burger and I got a chicken wrap, and we shared some fries that came topped mushrooms and sauce. My wrap was good, but I much preferred his burger. Our food came out pretty quickly and the waitress was very attentive. It was fairly quiet as we were there between lunch and dinner rushes, and we really enjoyed sitting near the large, open windows that face Main Street. I don't know much about Longmont's restaurants, so I don't know what else to compare it to or how it stacks up against other area casual restaurants. I'll have to return when they have live music and get to know the food scene better before deciding on the full five stars. I'd definitely return and bring family and friends.
(4)Jesse S.
Looks to be really promising new place in Longmont!! Had dinner there tonight and the food was excellent! Still in their "soft opening" but service was great and looks like they have a pretty awesome drinks menu. Can't wait to go back and try out some more!
(5)R S.
So happy to have this new restaurant in town. Bringing new approach and menu items. The sourdough burger is the best burger in town. Loved the polenta bites. Fries were ok. Great craft beer selection too
(5)Mark W.
Amazing Cuban sandwich, fries and salad also delicious. Presentation of all the food was fantastic and their menu is fairly creative. Not very pricey either, average meal price was $11. You can tell the chefs take pride in their work. Great service as well, multiple people took care of our table. I think this is easily the best restaurant in Longmont.
(5)Conner G.
The Roost is a gem in Longmont, the food is amazing. I had their short rib tacos and they are absolutely to die for. The California burger is everything you want in a burger it is a mouth watering burger with all the right flavor, to compliment a perfect burger their rooster fries are out of this world.
(5)Rissa D.
Best craft food and beer lineup. Live music, rooftop, such a great spot! Personal favs are the candied bacon sliders, steak frites, and marshmallow sauce for their sweet potato fries. Prices are great and so is the service.
(5)B B.
I have to say I was not impressed. Food selection is very limited, just OK and drinks expensive. I was so hoping this was going to be a much needed addition to Longmont....
(3)Sean M.
Only because I want this place to be awesome am I going to be brutally honest. The food was not up to par. Sure there are 1 or 2 good things on the menu. We already have a place like that in Longmont, it's called The Pumphouse and it's right next door. The food needs to be better. Hire some cooks from NYC. Go there, taste the food, learn what good food tastes like, then pay those dudes to come live here and cook it. That is all. Good luck.
(3)Richard R.
The food was good, but it was WAY TOO LOUD. We had the cuban sandwich and the short rib sandwich. Both were very good, as were the fries. But the noise level was unbelievable. This was a Thursday night, no music, just the voices bouncing off the walls, ceiling, floor. When we walked outside into the quiet, it felt like we had been assaulted all during dinner. Not relaxing at all. Clearly, no one could take a date there, they would have to yell at each other. I doubt that we will return.
(3)Jennifer B.
I've really tried to like this place, but have been disappointed every time. The food, service, and drinks , have been awful. I ordered a salad it was old and obviously dumped out of a bag. The drinks were weak and expensive. The service was the worst part, slow and unresponsive.
(1)Susanne L.
I have been there several times now. I have found the food and service to both be good and the prices right. There is one suggestion I would make either change or remove the "lobster roll" because it isn't a lobster roll. The pork lettuce wraps are my favorite.
(4)Joanne H.
I understand that a new restaurant has to work out it's kinks but WOW. We were told there was a wait for the rooftop so we put our name in the list and headed to the bar. We were pleasantly surprised when about 5 minute later we were able to go upstairs and that's where the trouble began. We received water right away and really like the water bottles. We ordered drinks but they didn't arrive until a half hour later. The focaccia bread was excellent but the 300 year old salsa verde listed on the menu was instead a pesto spread. We ordered a second round of beers and after about 15 minutes we inquired about them(after all there is a rooftop bar) and were told that those beers had to come from downstairs. I would have thought that the waitress would then make sure we for them right away but it was another 15 minutes before they arrived (also, the waitress had to inquire as to what we had ordered again). I would suggest that if it takes that long for stuff to come up, The Roost invest in a dumb waiter. We were also seated next to a heater which we were happy about because of the chill; however, no propane. Our food was so so. Short rib sandwich had too little meat and compared to the other plates at our table, the kitchen doesn't mete out fries evenly. Overall, the atmosphere was nice and liked the books for delivery of the bill but the service was awful. Our waitress was half with it and became perturbed after we inquired about the drinks a second time. We would have ordered more drinks and stuck around for the music had the service been beyter. Hopefully this is just a working out the kinks thing but won't go back a third time if our next experience is anything like tonight.
(2)Sharon P.
Have been there a few times and the food is really good! Especially the French fries. BUT, the drinks are way too small and severely over priced. I had a pomegranate specialty drink and it came in a glass a little larger than a shot glass and it was $9.00. It really let me down. They need to reconsider the size and prices of their drinks if they are going to compete with local restaurants. We ended up leaving after one drink and went to O'Shays in time for Happy Hour.
(3)Judith N.
This is hands-down the best restaurant in Longmont. The peach Cosmo was delicious, as were the braised beef tacos. Affordable night out, plus friendly staff and contemporary atmosphere, this place is a winner!
(5)Annie L.
Let me start off by saying that this place is SUCH a great addition to Longmont that I kinda hate to say anything bad about it, and I really hope that some of the kinks get worked out because it would be a shame if they don't. I've always had really good service here, so that's not an issue. I've had a few food experiences that were mixed..the calamari was weird, the steak frites, left me..hmm..not satisfied..and the short rib tacos were super great..my issue is their prices here..the food prices are definitely moderate..but I used to live in Boulder..so there's that..but the caliber of food doesn't seem consistent with prices...short ribs worth it, the rest, not so far. Of course, this is all subjective. But, what has left me now not wanting to return is that I paid $11 for a Bloody Mary. $11. This was not top shelf vodka..but it wasn't well, either. Unfortunately, this doesn't seem like an isolated experience. Please, Roost, you gotta figure this out. It's an issue, and I can tell you want to do such a good job..this place has heart...but geez, it also has my paycheck.
(3)Jackie R.
Ate there last night and all 3 of us enjoyed our meal. Waiter recommended anything short ribs and the sandwich was great! Hubby did the lobster the sandwich and was hoping for a bit more flavor and the waiter kept assisting him with ideas until the extra sauce he brought made it perfect for hubby's taste! Good on the waiter! Son had the something burger? and liked it okay but we all felt the short rib sandwich was the best of our 3. Fun to try the different french fries and we all had different ones. The marshmallow fries are quite sweet when dipped in sauce. First time hubby ate all of his fries, the chipotle ones and son really liked his with the mushrooms. Enjoyable evening! Three of us ate including 2 beers and 1 spirits for @$65.

We just had a lovely lunch here today. Both of my grandchildren loved their inexpensive meal, chicken tenders and mini sliders. My daughter and I shared a perfectly cooked sourdough burger. It was the California burger that was the most impressive. I figure that it had an entire avocado on it and it was delicious. Bacon bloody mays rounded out our meal. We plan on coming again.

Good food if you are able to get it. Took 25 minutes to get our drinks because the wait staff 'forgot' to place the order the first time. After our drinks arrived, our food arrived 40 minutes later, we were just about to get up nd leave. The real bad part was the two of us got our food 15 minutes apart; my wife was done eating by the time mine arrived. I hope this place survives, but the wait staff need to get a lot more attentive and get more experience. I'm not sure if I will return.

Another great restaurant in Longmont! We are delighted with all the new eateries making Longmont a great place to stay for dinner. Warm and friendly atmosphere. We did have to wait for a table on a Tuesday evening. The bar was a little loud so we opted for the dining room. Nice selection of local brews. I tried two outstanding appetizers: Burrata (with fresh mozzarella, kalamata olives drizzled with balsamic dressing, terrific!) and Candied Bacon sliders (I WILL be back!). My only regret was that I had no room for dessert. Also want to try the rooftop! Free on-street parking as well as in the lot out back (gotta love Longmont)!

Food was amazing- service superb! I highly recommend the Thai pork tacos and also the balsamic blue cheese fries so good!! The fact that they donate 10% of their proceeds to adoption is just another reason I'll be frequenting this place a lot

Great new restaurant for Longmont. Been there twice and both times had great service including a visit from the owner at our table. We tried out the bacon sliders, pork lettuce wraps and the blistered shishitos, All were delicious! Highly recommend you try them out.

Just had a great early dinner at The Roost. All was very, very good, except for one little not so good thing which I'll explain at end of review. First off, the acoustics in the place are somewhat questionable, it's very, very loud here when full, but if you go off hours like we did (2 pm) it's pretty quiet. We started with apps of their bread and salsa verde and blistered shosito peppers. Both were yumilishish. Bread was a 300 year old recipe for foccacia (alledgedly) which was pillowy and tasty, the salsa was basically a pesto sauce which was very good but could've used a little more olive oil. The shosito peppers were awesome! Cooked in oil and peppered with lime juice and salt- SO good! Then we got the sourdough hamburger with mushroom fries. Both were again, unbelievably good, the hamburger cooked just as we ordered it, Med Rare and the meat actually had flavor. The mushroom fries were fries that were then topped with guyere cheese and mushrooms that were served in a delicious gravy like sauce. But here's the thing that we just couldn't figure out... the food was all SO good, but when we got the Buffalo chicken wings, it was just like..... huh? They came out served in a little bowl, I could tell before they even were put on the table that they were lukewarm at best. They looked cold, the sauce clinging to the meat in a kind of congealed orange paste. I'm not kidding.... that is what they looked like. I touched one and it was, like I thought, lukewarm, well maybe lukewarm is being a little too complimentary. We sent them back saying they were cold. The waitress said she would have them make another order. In about five minutes, another order arrived. It looked exactly like the first order, it LOOKED cold, and why yes, why yes it was. You would think if you sent something back for being cold on a Sunday afternoon when the place wasn't packed, that the new order would come back, well, hot, like piping hot, like with steam exuding all over the place. Nope. It was too ludicrous to complain about again, so we just took them home. I'm hoping that by serving them actually HOT, that the pasty goo will dissipate into a nice velvety sauce, which is how they should've been in the first place. From reading the other reviews on the wings, I think this is a bit of a problem. Hey wingman, get on it!

Tons of potential! They're paving a new direction for food in Longmont. Need to reduce the menu and focus the food a little. Also please do something about the vibe in the back bar. Feels like a spec home basement in there.

Delicious! Love the atmosphere and service. Owner even stopped by to see how we were doing.

Left another restaurant where we were getting drinks to try The roost for dinner and we were horribly disappointed. They're extremely over priced considering the food and atmosphere. My husband and I both ordered salads and they were barely larger than a side salad. We paid $12 each because we both added meat. We ended up ordering a wrap as well because we were both starving after our "meal". Everyone at our table commented about the size of our "full size salad". I may go back because I like the roof top here, but I don't plan to eat dinner.

We were really looking forward to going to dinner at the new Roost. From the start it went downhill, noise level crazy high.. sounds like a large cafeteria. Service was slow. Food did not come out at the same time for all at the table and it was cold... not good. They did not have curtains in the west facing window and it was impossible to see unless we used the menus to block the sun. Very disappointed

Went with a large group including 3 kids under 5...i was worried about bringing kids aftwr reviewing there web site, it looked like such a nice place, well....wasnt I surprised! They had kid cups with lids and there kids food was awesome. They even brought it out early so the kids didnt have to wait. My only feed back is booster seats wouls have been a huge bonus for us. But the food was great and the atmosphere and staff were awesome.

Ordered 2 California burgers medium...both were served rare. Hubby sent his back & got a fresh one cooked properly...spoke to the manager about this & he just wanted to stand there and debate about it...while I do appreciate that he only made us pay for one, that should've been offered instead of the argument he made us go thru to get it...not impressed. 1st time & last time :( 2 hours later update...hubby barely made it home to the toilet!

I like this place a lot. They can make some really tasty drinks and are always open to experiment. They care about their ingredients and I admire how ambitious they are to improve the menu. I feel like I can get solid recommendations from the staff - who are wonderful and really make the place. I tried the steak frites...yeah, do it.... I recommend rare+ on the steak, and a break from loved ones (or anyone who might want to get close to you): it's pretty intense on the garlic, but in the best possible way. I almost always sit at the bar or in the upstairs seating. On the downside, the dining areas downstairs are a little meh and can come off slightly depressing. Finally, some of the hostesses are aloof and can be annoyingly rude. Everyone else is a gem.

I've given this place plenty of chances. Been here 3 times. The cocktails are okay, nothing too special. The food tastes good but there's always something off about it. We got the Spicy Ahi Tempura. It was bland, served with ugly half full slices of inedible jalapenos (bizarre presentation) as a garnish, and the Tempura batter is not properly seasoned. The pick of fish was very fresh, so I know they know what they are doing, at least somewhat. We ordered Mole Fries, and they brought them to us, but with the marshmallow dip. The waiter checked on us after about 10 minutes, and we finally let her know that we got the wrong dip. The fries seem like frozen fries just thrown in a deep frier. Nothing special enough to warrant the "Signature Fries" heading on the menu and their own section. They tasted more like some kind of novelty item on a kids menu at a family restaurant than anything interesting. We ordered the Rooster Eggs. These were great! Can't really taste the Cashew Dust, but aside from that excellent idea! I really like the potential of this restaurant because it's the sort of thing Longmont needs, but the execution is just WAY off. The chef really needs to hear this feedback because it could be so much better than it is. The ambiance is great, having your choice of indoors downstairs, on the roof, at the bar, etc... The whole layout is very smart. So much potential and I feel it has been thoroughly wasted.

We were in Longmont and having never been there decided to cruise the Main Street to see if we could spot something for a late lunch. We saw this place and managed to get a park just across the street. Being about 2.30pm the place was pretty empty just a few tables. We were given the menu and told our server would be right with us. Our server gave us water and said she would be right back for the order.Waiting waiting waiting...a server was in the room but obviously didn't want to stand on the others toes. So after 10minutes she finally came back (she was very helpful and polite, but quicker service in an empty restaurant would be better!) We ordered the roost burger with a side of avocado salad and the Cuban sandwich with signature roost fries. The food came out quickly and I regretted offering to go halves with my husband! The roost burger was delicious! Juicy and flavoursome. The Cuban was quite nice too. The fries not so crispy but still good. The avocado salad was ok but the dressing wasn't that good. I would go back if I were up in Longmont...and the brunch menu looked pretty good too!

We were planning to go to Mike O'Shay's but they were closed on Sunday so we tried The Roost. I found many things on the menu that I wanted to try, especially several of the brunch items but it was past 12:30 so, I figured I would get lunch instead. I had the TALERA CUBAN PORK sandwich which has pork shoulder, black forest ham, gruyere cheese, house pickles, garlic aioli & mustard on Talera bread. It was juicy, tangy and delicious. It was even better cold the next day. I had rooster fries as my side and they were tasty but I wish I had tried the sweet potato fries with marshmallow dip. I'll get that next time. For dessert we split the ice cream sandwich which is 2 chocolate chocolate chip cookies with mint choc chip ice cream between. Bummer-it was too frozen to cut into but I ate it later when it had thawed a little. We will be back for sure.

I have been a few times now. Once for a meal right when it opened, once for cocktails, and another time for fries and a beer. So far I am pleased, although it hasn't quite hit a five star review (but I'm holding out hope for the near future). First of all, the Roost is FAR AND AWAY the best place that has been in this location. So many places have come and gone, and it is easy to see why. The Roost has a great deal of promise. Drinks have been really great, love the cocktail list, and my husband seems pleased with the beers. Most of the food has been pretty darn good with a few "meh" dishes in the mix (the chipotle queso dip and the polenta bites). The rooftop is fabulous. The service is way better than what we experienced at the last couple establishments. We are happy to have The Roost downtown and will be back!

I was ready to love this place. The menu is so creative, it was difficult to decide what to order! As another reviewer mentioned, there are just a few issues that made it disappointing. They wrecked the Thai salad by not picking out rotten greens (about 1/4 of my salad was not just wilty, but rotten!) and WAY oversalting the dressing. A salad should be refreshing, not thirst-inducing! But hey, maybe the kitchen thought the salt could cover up the taste of rotten greens? I also ordered the polenta bites, with goat cheese and balsamic. Mainly, I love goat cheese, and am not a huge fan of polenta. It was fine, but there was less than a teaspoon of goat cheese for 8 polenta bites. Boo! I mopped up every drop of balsamic to add flavor. Last but not least, the cocktails- they have half sizes, so I tried two. The peach Cosmo was a let down, though the Pop Rocks rim was inspired. The drink needs some actual fruit, instead if two flavored liquors. It tastes fakey. No peaches were involved. The mojito was served with rotten mint leaves and a brown-peeled lime. See photo. What bothers me most is that the crap quality of the fresh produce represents the level of care in the kitchen. If they are willing to serve rotten produce, their overall attention to detail is certainly called into question! All that said- my server was outstanding! I hope to revisit The Roost and find that they read Yelp reviews and talk to the kitchen staff. I will give it one more try.

The food is amazing. I had a Roost burger and side avocado salad. Wonderful flavor, I highly recommend this place.

Need to try again, went here for apps and dessert with a friend but between the extremely loud music and the lack of AC we both left nauseous and with headaches :-( food selection was good though and tasted great!

I've been here a few times. I really want to like this place but they make it hard. They have great food and a good beer and whisky selection. Lovely rooftop patio and bar. They also have terrible service. Last time we were there with a group of four people at 9 on a Saturday night. We were sat on the rooftop. It took 10 minutes for a server to say hello and bring us water. We ordered a pitcher of moscow mules for the table and two baskets of fries. It took us 20 minutes to get the fries, which is fine. But it took another 5 minutes after the fries to get our drinks. We were seated in a mostly empty restaurant at the half empty bar, and waited for over half an hour just to get drinks, which arrived after our food. Every time it's a similar story. Thankfully Samples opened up down Main with a good rooftop patio and better service.

Blisted Shishitos!!! Need I say more??? These things are addictive! But it's sort of like playing russian roulette, as every so often you get a super hot one! Be sure to have some draft on hand to cool your palate down. Our large party sat outside on the back patio. Great people watching and it's also shaded back there.
(4)Elisa B.
Awesome local beer selection (Porters, IPAs, even an amazing Sour)! The Steak Frites app was amazing as well as the Queso. Didn't eat dinner but will be back! Service at the bar was stellar. Great stop in Longmont on our way up north!

Wow, everything about their rooftop lounge is right. Great view, attentive but not overbearing service, nice seating, casual. We dove in with drinks (cosmos, mules, and beers), Queso, and cheese fries. SO DELISH and great portions and prices too. Our entrees were less spectacular, but very good. We had a happy time there and will come back!

So excited that we have a trendy, great atmosphere restaurant here in Longmont. They are far and few between. For the most part everything I've tried has been pretty good. Full flavor, good prices and great portions. I did have the Pismo Beach Claim Chowder and from having clam chowder in Pismo Beach, CA, this didn't even come close. Clam chowder is something I sample everywhere. This one had no chunks of goodness, more like a broth... kind of bummed :( Luv the pitchers of sangria!!!

My husband and I FINALLY got a night out without the baby (hooray!) so we decided to try The Roost. The cocktails were delicious, and we loved the "shorties" option of half a drink since we're such light-weights. Good beer selection, too! Our waitress was very friendly and service was excellent. She was attentive but not overbearing. We also enjoyed the lobster roll a lot! Lots of good lobster meat and a mild mayo-based sauce that complimented it perfectly. The clam chowder was also delicious and chocked full of clam bits. I grew up visiting family in Connecticut every summer and gorging on clam chowder, and I can honestly say The Roost makes some of the best I've ever had. The tacos were spicier than expected and had a slightly odd aftertaste we couldn't identify, but we both really enjoyed them anyway. We finished up with a Brownie Sundae that was FANTASTIC, the caramel sauce in particular had real caramel flavor that worked beautifully with the moist, chocolatey brownie. We'll definitely be back to check out the rooftop and try more of the menu next time we're baby-free!

I really like this place. Great vibe and the food is pretty good. The roof top eating area is great!

My family and I were travelling from CA and decided to check out downtown Longmont during our vacation. We've heard about the story of The Roost and wanted to check it out for ourselves while we were in town. At around 6pm, we arrived for dinner. We were seated immediately and absolutely loved the decor! Our server was friendly and attentive throughout our whole meal. Our family ordered burgers, salads, and a chicken sandwich. The burgers were amazing and the chicken was extremely tender. We did NOT have any beverages this time around but we did try the ice cream sandwich and wow! We fell in love. Let's just say the next time we're in town, we'll definitely be eating here again.

Moonshine and Apple Cider? Yep, you can get it here and it's delicious!!! The Cuban sandwich was my favorite so far out of any other place I've had one. The Queso was so delectable and the cheese was super creamy and you get a lot of it. We sat on the patio and I really like the little area that surrounds it, makes for good ambiance. Our server was great, and attentive.

We were here yesterday for the second time. I was looking forward to a good meal but didn't get one. The first time I went I ordered the steak frites and polenta bites. The steak was great, a bit over priced for longmont I thought... and the polenta was just a bit weird. I was raised eating polenta and this was just strange and fried so I wouldn't order it again. On this visit I just couldn't find anything to order so I made a quick decision and ordered the wings. Bad move. I'm still sick the next day and I only at 2 out of the dozen they sent in the order. The wings were barely cooked and definitely didn't have any crisp or crunch to them. Actually they were chewy and the sauce was so thick, I'm almost positive it's the sauce that made me feel so bad. Literally an aching stomach since we left at lunch yesterday. And it was over $30 for my husband and myself to get lunch. I'm not impressed and not likely to become a regular.

We came here opening night - and even though they were slammed, we experienced fast service, friendly wait staff, cool music, and good food. We were originally quoted 1.5 hour for wait time, but our party of 3 was sat within 40 minutes. SCORE! While we waited, we ordered a drink at the bar, and sat outside on their back porch patio. Upstairs deck had yet to open (I believe they open the first weekend in April...), but I am looking forward to their roof top being available! I do like that the windows inside open up to allow an indoor/outdoor feel. The only thing I noticed that needs to be addressed.....they have Guinness spelt wrong on their drink menu. But I am extra critical of that, being from Ireland and what not. And if thats the worst thing about this place, then you should definitely go! Fries with the roost sauce were SO good, as was our pitcher of sangria. Our waitress was super friendly and attentive (but not too much, if you know what I mean...) I did whack my shin getting in to the table, but I think it was mainly my own fault. Still, the Roost left its mark, both literally and figuratively. Looking forward to coming back again and again.!!!

We have been here several times and never disappointed! Good is delicious, drinks are interesting and tasty. Love the jalapeno margarita. Stay hip, so glad to have you in our town. Thanks.

This is a 3.5 star review, but I prefer to round up vs. down. Sometimes you're just having a so so day. This restaurant is about being cool. Cool is good! But...cool is tough to do. I think it's doubly difficult to do in Longmont because the town itself is in a transition right now from old school Republican agriculture, hot rods and High school sports to bright blue progressive, high tech, advanced manufacturing 21st century hot spot. This restaurant definitely fits into the future vs. the past. But the transition the town itself is in will cause some very mixed reviews from different people getting the exact same thing. The food is excellent. The atmosphere is great. The service needs a little work. The staff here has attitude. Like trying to be cool, this can be good, or bad. If you like cool, you'll like this place. If you're old school Longmont, you're going to think it's got a "snotty kids" problem.

VERY inconsistent service (ranging from good to awful), average food and cocktails, but a nice deck and bar ambience. When this opened in Longmont, I was really excited- nice building, great deck, fresh, seasonal cuisine. Unfortunately the food and service do not live up to the building. Despite the fact that it is regularly busy, the food and cocktails are meh. By far, the best things to order is the house made burrata. The Moscow mules are really sweet (not a lot of ginger flavor). My husband felt like the beer selection was good. The bartender (former bartender at Urban Thai) delivers great service everywhere. The rest of the servers I have had here range from average to poor. This evening, we went there for appetizers and cocktails. The hostess said there was open seating on the patio. We went out to the patio, moved chairs to an available two top, and sat down. An older mail waiter (who I think I've seen at Kinkos- and seemed constantly grumpy there too) angrily approached us saying "You can't sit there." Even if we had not been told we could by the hostess, I might have expected an "I'm sorry; you'll need to be seated by the hostess." When my husband explained, he stormed off and started yelling at the hostess in front of us. A second hostess came and told him it was open seating. He looked over angrily and said "You can sit." We left and found ourselves (again) leaving Longmont to have dinner at elsewhere (The Post in Lafayette). If only The Big Red F folks could see this place is desperate for decent food and service! Best recommendations for Longmont: The Flavor of India, Comida, Lucile's, Modmarket, and The Longs Peak Pub.

Hooray! An adorable, delicious place in Longmont (I mean "adorable" in the most masculine of ways). They have a great selection of craft beers and cocktails, as well as a menu that would please most everyone. I ordered the polenta and avocado salad with buffalo fries. All three were scrumptious. The ambiance was very casual and inviting. There was some confusion about who was taking care of us, but once that was settled, our server was very attentive and helpful. Glad to see urban revival is alive and well in downtown Longmont! I will definitely be back!
