Every time I come here, I order the Southwest Chicken Salad (without the chicken) with the Honey-Lime dressing. Of the tens of times I've been here, only once has it been subpar. Oh, and I'd argue they have the best sweet potatoe fries out there! There is usually a wait, but it's typically 20 minutes or less. Their staff is nice, and the kitchen is pretty prompt for how busy they are. They accommodate most palettes. Certainly stop here if you're in the area.

The food has good flavor, however, the portions are small and the prices are big. If they would lower there prices OR increase the portions I would go back. Until then, sorry. Ps. Don't order the calamari, it is obviously frozen.

My friends and I visit here frequently, and I always leave with an exceptionally happy stomach. Sometimes the staff isn't always the friendliest, but the food and atmosphere are quite fun!

One of the best restaurants in Longmont! My husband and I have been coming to Mike O'Shay's for years and consistently have satisfying meals. Tried and true fave! We enjoy the cozy pub atmosphere, which at times can admittedly get noisy if the place is jam packed, however we also often go for lunch or early dinner when it is noticeably quieter. Servers are friendly, courteous, prompt and polite - and they all seem incredibly well-trained in server etiquette which is a huge plus for us, since so many establishments seem to hire folks who seem to have never waited a table in their life and are clueless, rude, absent, naive and often downright crabby! Not here, the wait staff here seems to be trained well and gets that they are part of the experience that can make or break diner's meals. So we appreciate the genuinely kind and efficient staff at this pub. Now to the food which is really the shining star! Some faves are Irish Eggrolls which are tasty reuben type appetizers with horseradish 1000 island dipping sauce, then the sweet potato fries so thin and crispy with the accompanying honey chipotle sauce which has a zingy kick. Mac and Cheese is listed as an appetizer I believe, which is unusual but it is so reasonably priced and delicious, to me it is filling enough for a decadent meal at under four bucks is just a steal. I strongly believe they make THE best salmon dishes in town - from Emerald Isle which has a panko bread crumb crust and is served with mashed potatoes that have cabbage mixed in, to Sugar & Spice Salmon oh so nice and flavorful with a honey mustard sauce, and also the Raspberry Chipotle Salmon salad with feta cheese, cucumbers and red onion yum and the best freshly made raspberry vinaigrette dressing! Also enjoy the simple yet perfectly prepared grilled salmon, lightly seasoned, listed under the Protein Plates section on lower right of menu - served with two sides which if I recall correctly, can be salad or veggies or sliced hardboiled egg or cottage cheese, it feels like I made a healthy choice and I am glad they offer this option when desiring a lighter healthier meal. (Can also get simply grilled chicken and other meats too as a protein plate for low carb healthy options) I really feel that the menu has an excellent variety of options ranging from Prime Rib dinner to Southwestern dishes like enchiladas and burritos, to pasta dishes along with soups, salads, sandwiches. Just remembered another fave is a portobello mushroom grilled panini sandwich with roasted red pepper and provolone cheese and artichokes that is simply heavenly! Kinda like a gourmet grilled cheese to me but with loads of veggies inside! Perfect on a cold winter day with a cup of soup, ahhhh so good! Offering nightly specials too increases the options of what to order, and we just think the value of what you get, the quality of the food, along with the warm ambiance and consistent service will have us returning regularly and eagerly with happy smiles! Highly recommended!

Great spot for a date night in Longmont. Their specials are consistently good and their drinks are really nice. They make a one hit quit Old Fashioned that is not to be missed. Nice pub atmosphere.

The atmosphere is amazing, but the food is lacking. The bar really makes the place sing because it offers such variety and creates a nice "old school pub" feel inside. Our server was polite and attentive, and I love a place that offers booth seating. The food isn't inedible, but I was disappointed when the caesar salad was served with mostly core pieces (the white structure at the center of a lettuce head). Sure, a caesar is traditionally crunchy, but it was also missing a whole lot of romaine greens. We decided to send it back but I'm always suspect of this practice (complaining on the spot so that an order can be corrected) because I never know if the kitchen staff will be annoyed enough about the complaint to add their own flourish to the dish (if you get my meaning). It seems like with a little prep cook training or a change in head chef might do this local business some good.

Great food, good service. Only complaint is that it can get loud, but that's not the business's fault. Also the women's bathroom is very small and dated. Can't hardly fit in the one stall.

Irish pub with delicious food and fast service. Traditional pub fare with a healthy choice of bar food. Have your Guiness with fish & chips,a burger and fries, some Asian lettuce wraps, fish tacos and shrimp salad or have it all and have a cardiac arrest. Kidding aside, it's a nice pub.

Mike O'Shay's has the best salad in the world: the Raspberry Chipotle Salmon Salad. It is amazing and I order it every time we go there. My husband always gets steaks or prime rib and is always happy. We enjoy going there for lunch to share a nachos plate, and our service dog is always welcome.

I Had lunch with 4 business colleagues. The meal took about 30 minutes to get, to long for lunch I think. The server apologized and kept our drinks filled. When the food finally came, it was excellent.

They're food is excellent! They have a great selection of beer as well! Service has always been great! OMG! I'm in LOOOVE with their cornbeef and cabbage egg rolls! Seriously-- TRY THEM! However-- the place is a bit pricey for pub food. Still, worth a trip!

This was the second time to Mike O'Shays. Service was very nice. The food was not very good at all and quite bland. I felt like I paid way too much for such an average meal. I was disappointed.

Visited Mike O Shay's for a little late night food and beer. Sat at the bar and ordered a reuben...good sandwich with a proportional serving for the price...and it was tasty (nice combo). Some good craft beers on draft, and friendly service were the positive points of the night. The few minor challenges for the bartenders were a sticky bar (both where I was sitting and the three seats next to me) and a common mistake it seems for many bartenders...namely, sticking the tap head into the glass of beer. When bartenders pour a beer and stick the head in, obviously some of the beer stays on the taphead...let's say 20 minutes goes by before they serve another beer from that tap...what goes into my new fresh draft beer? The remenants of a now warm sticky beer into my fresh one. Overall, I liked the place..and will be back...but those minor flaws brought down the stars.

I spent the first 19 years of my life in Longmont and never ate at Mike O'Shay's. I was back in L-Town yesterday with my wife and sister and decided to give it a shot. I think I will agree with one of the other reviews that it was A-OK. Not bad, but not spectacular. I had the chili rellenos with green chili, which was good...very different than I have ever had. I'm not even sure how to explain it, they tasted almost like they were battered in southwestern egg rolls. Like I said, different than I expected, but very tasty. My sister had the Rueben sandwich which she loved, and my wife had a burger and fries, which was pretty standard. The service was kind of lackluster. If nothing else I would describe it as "efficient". Between the hostess and our server, there were hardly any smiles and not much personality shining through. We were seated and waited on quickly. We had our order and check taken care of promptly, and my water was hastily refilled. I think my only real complaint was that the restaurant was friggen' loud. It was tough to carry on a conversation at our table and even harder not to hear everyone else's conversations. Overall, the food was good, the service ok, and ambience ok...heck, for a restaurant in Longmont that's a great review, so I'll probably be back. Nice to have a decent place to eat in this town, and I really like their staff shirts. Green polo's with a clover leaf embroidered on the back...I want one without that Mike O'Shay's logo on the front.

Friends of ours brought us here on a cold winter Friday night. First impression was a warm and cozy Irish Pub. Food & drink was equally as cozy! The food was spectacular, especially the Vermont Cheddar Potato Chowder ...mmmm warmed my soul. The prices are very reasonable! Appetizers are not ridiculously expensive.

We had lunch at Mike O'Shay's and it was delicious. We were promptly waited on by the friendly staff, the selection to choose from on the menu was large and the food was great. I would definitely go back and would certainly recommend it. The BBQ burger was delicious & the key lime ice cream was refreshing.

We've lived in Longmont about ten years and have had periods where we frequent O'Shays. In the past couple of months, I'd say we've stopped by at least ten times for an early supper. Here's what I notice. First, there are a few decent items on the menu: chicken fingers, club sandwich (inexplicably on whole wheat bread, but you can ask for a substitution), burgers, including their bison burgers. Overall, though, the menu suffers from too much scope and too little focus. They should try to do better at fewer things. Sometimes, like most restaurants of this ilk, they should change their frying oil more often. Second, the help -- beginning with the night manager -- is a real shortcoming. At the time of day we go, typically between 3 PM and 5 PM, we are inevitably met with help who have perfected the tunnel vision, "you're not my table and I'm not going to acknowledge you" behavior. It's disappointing to see our food languish for ten minutes or more before someone picks it up. Yes, I could go get it and yes it would be incredibly poor restaurant etiquette to do so. Third, this isn't a place for an intimate meal. The hard surfaces means that the place is acoustically one big pool table where sound bounces around like a beginner's breaking balls. I did not remove any stars for that; it doesn't really claim to be anything more than a pub. Keep that in mind and you can plan your visits accordingly. A couple of specific comments about food items. The french fries are the super-crunchy style. Five Guys can do fresh fries; this places seemingly doesn't have the bandwidth. Avoid the mushroom soup, unless you're fond of chewy flour-y bits. The garnishes feature limp lettuce and, for the burgers, tomatoes that are green enough to use as flying discs to get someone's attention. Come to think of it... We merited a manager's attention only when my husband failed to finish his burger. He'd ordered it well-done, but was not hungry enough to eat more than about half. The manager trotted over prepared, I think, to lecture him about ordering burgers well-done and slunk off with hardly a second word when we assured him that the food was fine. No "how was everything?": more like "what was the problem here?" Here's the problem, as I see it. O'Shays seems to depend on a few regulars. The regulars come, are acknowledged, sidle up to the bar or are seated quickly. I am not certain what it takes to qualify as a regular, but I can tell you that tipping 20%, patience with slow and inattentive service, and dropping $40 or more for a two-top (before tip) during off hours ain't gunna do it. I recognize that two-tops aren't especially lucrative for the restaurant or, for that matter, for servers. But that's a reason we make it a point to go "off" hours, so that we're not occupying more valuable real estate later. This should result in a better experience, not a worse one. If they truly can't manage to seat and serve customers well during off hours, they need to shut down everything but the bar and give customers the honest choice of bellying up to the bar or sauntering on down the street to other choices. For those who would go "early", but perhaps not quite as early as we do. The briefing session for staff is around 4.30 pm and can last ten minutes or more. Don't expect ANYTHING in the way of service, even though the restaurant is by now getting busier. Also, don't expect the specials mentioned at the front door to be ready one second before 5 pm -- although the reader board will not advise about this. Given all this, I'm not really sure why I awarded a second star. Maybe it's because because one seems just mean, some of the menu is edible, and I don't think we've ever gotten food poisoning there. So two stars for that -- but no more. And after thinking hard enough about our recent experiences to write this review, I think we'll put O'Shays on the hiatus list. Because they never seemed to care that we'd come in, they won't miss us.

Arrival time - Noon and on a Saturday No Wait - seated right away. Requested away from the open front - too hot that day. Unwanted guests -two flies (thank you open front of restaurant) Meals: Gyro - very good, chunky tatziki sauce because of the diced cucumber. Sandwich was quite hot - probably from sitting in the window waiting for husband's Irish breakfast. The portion is reasonable and not huge. They serve breakfast until 2pm on Saturday I believe. My gyro came with a greek salad but I opted for their crispy fries. Irish breakfast came with two ample sized (disturbingly so) sausage links, two eggs over two tomato slices and a thin gravy (almost marsala like), potato chunks (but not diced) and fried bread (nice and buttery). We also had an ample portion of tempura mushrooms. Very good, served with ranch. Capable of creating blisters in your mouth if not using common sense when eating fresh hot mushrooms. Service: On top of it without being super friendly and over the top. Just how I like my servers. Give me my food, refill my drinks, be polite and leave me alone. The guy did a great job. Restrooms: Two stalls for the ladies, handicapped stall has a changing station. Old restroom but neat and clean. Women and Men's restrooms are set in the very back of the restaurant away from the dining area down a long hall. Parking: You are better off parking behind the building and entering from the back. People were greeted and seated from that entrance by servers.

O'Shay's is a lively atmosphere and really good food. The food is always better than I expect it to be. I always taste a little something extra. I have had a few rare disappointments, such as the Gumbo, but they are very accommodating and will replace anything I don't like.

They are selling what they call a Cowboy Ribeye, they need to Google the term Cowboy Ribeye to see what it really is. My plain ribeye was served as the blackend special, the only thing blackn'd on it was a result of letting the flame catch the fat on fire as it cooked. Their mixed veggies also were not fresh, looked and tasted like they had set in a steamer for hours. Where is Gordon Ramsey when you need him?

O'Shays has been around for a long time and locals love it. I have some favorites on the menu (chowder, cod) and they have tons of great beer on tap. Not a good place for a first date because of the noise level.

I understand the locals love this place, so I had high hopes. I can't give it 5 stars, but it wasn't bad. My filet was a little overcooked (med-well, I ordered med), so obviously I didn't enjoy the steak as much as I would have liked, but the rest of the meal was good. I sat at the bar, and the bartender was very friendly and attentive.

How can very mediocre places tend to be the ones that look so crowded? We ended up here, by chance. It certainly wasn't my choice that evening. We had the nicest waitress, but for me, even that couldn't make up for the old tired Mussel appetizer that I ordered. It's good! our waitress exclaimed. Tasted like dirty old face rags I thought. It came with one lousy piece of toast. I had to order additional (4) to get enough to sop up the (sour) broth. You want tasty mussels with a creamy sauce so flavorful and fresh that you want to lick the bowl? You wont find it here. I wanted to clue her in to go to the 4th st. Chophouse in Loveland to get really good mussels. She was so enthusiastic about Mike O'Shays Mussels I didn't want to bust her bubble. My buddy's dinner of Bangers and Mash was much better, I'm glad she shared. But even "much better" compared to the mussels means maybe 3 stars worth of better. The high point of the evening at Mike O'Shay's was the fact that they have Muscato on the menu. Pour me anutha In my glass bartender, cause I can hardly stand what's on my plate.

I had lunch here a couple weeks ago with a client. The food was pretty standard pub fare. I had fish and chips (along with my boss) and the client had the chicken pot pie. His pot pie looked delicious, and my fish and chips tasted ok, but my fish portion was literally half of the fish my boss got. I was still starvin afterward and no, i did not order the kid's portion. 2 stars lost for inconsistent serving sizes and slow service.

My wife and I stumbled on this place a week or so ago and decided to head over Friday night to check it out since they were closed on Sunday. We arrived just at 5 and was greeted cheerfully. She said it would be about 15 minutes. We sat at the bar and ordered a couple of drinks while we waited. This is a cozy place with a bar on the right that looks to seat 20 to 25 people. There are a couple of flat screen TVs, which were both on the Golf channel :) There are 8 or so larger tables that seat 4 to 6 and about as many smaller tables that seat 2. We were seated pretty quickly, probably 5 minutes after arriving. The waitress arrived just about when we were ready to order. I've been trying beer lately so was checking out the menu. There were 3 or 4 of the common bottled variety and on the right side, another 3 or for identified as draft. There was one obviously local brew and a couple non-standard. I ordered the Mamas Little Yella Pils (a local) and the fish and chips. Since I ordered from the draft menu, I was a little confused when she brought out a can and poured it into a glass for me but reading the definition on the 'net, a can is technically a draft. The place was filling up fast with people waiting in line so we got there at just the right time. The food and beer arrived quickly. My wife had ordered Chipotle Pork Tenderloin which came with Chowder. She doesn't eat wheat due to allergies and forgot to check on the contents of the chowder so she gave it to me. It was very very good. Hearty with large pieces of clam. The main course was brought pretty quickly as well. The fish was nicely cooked and a good proportion. It wasn't too greasy and there was just enough tartar sauce. Fries were crispy and tasty. My wife thought the pork was a little dry so the chipotle sauce was appropriate. I noticed a guy standing looking around at the tables then he came over and picked up our plates. I'm guessing he was a manager or perhaps even Mike himself :) The place was getting packed (Friday night) and our bill came along moments later. We paid and headed on out. There were folks in the lobby, in the entrance way and even a few outside. So it must be a popular place :) In general we were seated, served, and on our way fairly quickly. The food was ok and apparently from the menu, only a small selection of beers were available (perhaps just from the dinner menu). We may come back from time to time but we won't be regulars.

Nothing out of the ordinary here, good or bad. My buddy and I were on business travel in the area and decided to meet up here on a Wednesday night. There were only 3 other people in this place, but then again the whole town seemed pretty deserted by 10pm. Had a local ale (forget the name) which was okay but not spectacular, and then a nice hoppy IPA. The bartender let me sample some of their hard cider on tap which was okay but too sweet for my taste buds. I would come back if I was in Longmont, since there isn't much else in the area anyway. Service was generally good, however they ended up closing at midnight since it was so quiet.

Salmon Salad = Great Fish and chips = too much batter on fish. Fries =awesome! Sheppards pie = was hungry and didn't finish it (Not a Fan) Burgers = good Mac & Cheese = above average Not super crazy about what I get for the money there.

Yes always for the soups. Yes for the fish and chips. Yes for the corn beef dinner. Yes for the Greek salad. Yes to the prime rib when they have it. The nacho's are big and tasty (even the smaller size). The Irish Egg Rolls did not do it for me. This menu is very large and varied. If you can't find it here I will be surprised. The staff is always attentive. Be prepared for a wait on Friday and Saturday at dinner time. If you want dinner before a show at the Longmont Theater, get there early.

I come here for the beer and sweet potato fries. The burgers aren't great, they lack flavor and the last time I asked for it to be cooked medium, it came out well done and burnt.

Took 5 min to be noticed by a server after being passed numerous times by different servers. She looked like she didn't want to be there. I felt like we were an inconvenience for her. Got the corn beef and cabbage it was lukewarm warm at best and tasted like it had been sitting in a hot box all evening. Food came out in about 3 minutes to fast to me when eating at a restaurant. If I wanted fast food I would have gone to a fast food joint. Overpriced for what I got as well small portions and left there hungry but really didn't want to eat anything else based on the quality of food. Crap food crap service Definitely will not be back.

We've frequented this place for years, but we're done with it. In it's hay day, it was a great place; excellent food with great flavor , always served piping hot, great service, and ample size portions of libations. It was known for it's consistency and friendly staff. It was like the show Cheers, everybody knew your name and acted like they genuinely cared about you. But Mike O'Shay's has fallen from grace. We tried, we really tried NOT to be done with it, but how many times can you send back burgers that aren't cooked properly, how many times can you return over cooked salmon, and how many times can you send back food that's barely warm? It got to the point that we were cringing, as we waited for our food to arrive, worrying about what would happen this time. We gave Mike O' Shays a second chance, over and over again for the past year, but were always unhappy when we would return. We talked to management several times and were given ridiculous rationale as to why the burgers were raw when we asked for medium rare. When we talked to manager Todd, we left with the feeling that he really didn't care what we were saying, although he did comp our two drinks. Sadly, we've come to the conclusion that it's better to cook at home than go here. Home, a place where everybody knows your name, and the food is actually good.

Friendly service, delicious food, tasty beer, and a unique, upbeat atmosphere. I'm a fan! My co-worker and I were traveling on business and asked the concierge at our Hotel Front Desk where he would recommend we eat dinner. He named 2 places: Scrumptious for ice cream and Mike O' Shay's for dinner. We tried both, and both were outstanding. The waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable. Once I revealed that this was my first visit, she confidently recommended the Bangers and Mash. The menu describes this as "Traditional British style sausages grilled and served with colcannon potatoes, caramelized onion gravy, vegetables, a side of grainy mustard and French bread." Not bad for $11.99! The meal was a refreshing burst of energy to my palate, as I don't eat Irish food often enough. I would definitely like to come here again the next time I'm in Longmont. Too bad I couldn't get enough bars on my cell phone in order to Check In! :)

I've been to Mike O'Shay's a number of times now and Yelp's description of a two star rating couldn't be more accurate..."Meh. I've experienced better." Truth is, there's nothing wrong with this place. It's perfectly adequate. But Longmont is a city that has more and more restaurants that are more than adequate, making Mike O'Shay's shortcomings less acceptable. Ambiance: With an Irish name attached to a place calling themselves out as an ale house, the typical Oirish brick-a-brack is both acceptable and expected. It's not special, in any way, but it's not horrible either. I will say though, it's rather dark. There's a patio out front, but it's a bit tight, which leads me to... Seating: This place is packed tight. Tables are small and close together. The different levels help create visual interest in the place, but they also take away from any flexibility in the seating layout. Given that this place feels like a bar, the high top tables up front are totally expected. Service: I feel like every time I've been, there's been something off with the service. It doesn't seem to matter whether they're super busy or nearly empty. Everyone's been perfectly pleasant, but I'd stop short of calling them observant, let alone attentive. Drinks: For a place that calls themselves an ale house, in a town like Longmont, Mike O'Shay's totally fails at being an ale house. Now I can't fault them for knowing what their customers want. Unfortunately, apparently their customers only want Bud, Left Hand Milk Stout and a couple of other drafts. When the sign says "ale house", I expect something more. Food: Like other aspects of this place, the food is adequate. I've never had anything awful and I've also never had anything memorable enough to make me want to come back and have it again. I'll admit I'm something of a foodie, so it might be an issue of me not being part of their core demographic. Tough. Final thoughts: My biggest beef with Mike O'Shay's speaks to a fundamental challenge of all hometown restaurants with a loyal customer base. How do you keep the regulars happy without excluding new customers? I always get the feeling, perhaps irrationally, that regulars are getting better tables and better service than I am. When I'm seated at uncomfortable tables on multiple visits, when more comfortable tables appear to exist, I'm suspicious. When my server ignores my polite waves to check on another table and then, when she finally does check on me, takes another 5 minutes to get my second beer, I'm suspicious. Look, I've waited tables. I know regulars often like to chat and, as a server, you know your regulars pay your rent (quite literally), but you get regulars by treating everyone like they're special. I might go back and give them another chance, but probably not. There's other choices in town that do better.

In my last review, I mentioned having a bad experience at Mike O'Shays. This was due to a member of management not being able to properly handle my boyfriend being dissatisfied with the quality of his meal. Management was apathetic about his concern with the meal and rude about delivery of the replacement meal. Whatever happened to listening to constructive criticism and learning from it? Never had I been so disappointed in the quality of what this place gives you for the prices they expect you to pay. I thought this issue was resolved when I wrote Mike O'Shay himself a letter detailing my experience and how the situation was handled poorly, and he replied to my letter with a $25 gift certificate and his apologies. Not the case. My boyfriend and I finally got over how upset we were about the last time we went to Mike O'Shays and decided to use our gift card. We went on a Friday night around 7:30, waited about 25 minutes for a nice table and got seated promptly. No issues there. I'll skip to the issue: the food. My boyfriend ordered the Wednesday, Friday and Saturday Night Special: Prime Rib. The description is as follows: A 12 oz. slow roasted USDA choice cut is served with baked potato, vegetables, horseradish sauce & au jus. This particular meal cost a whopping $22.99, but we were there to celebrate our return and had our $25 certificate in tow. I ordered the Sheppard's pie as I usually do. When the food arrived, the issues ensued again. The prime rib was supposed to be a 12 oz cut. This was accurate, but there was about 3 oz of pure fat he had to cut off the prime rib, bringing the actual meat to about 8 oz. The baked potato was just a plain baked potato, no fixings or anything. The "vegetables" were a handful of SHREDDED carrots and green beans. The waiter forgot the au jus altogether so that was not included. What a friggin' disappointment. Again. The quality of the food was shotty and for what we paid for that measly lame meal, we could have gone to Outback Steakhouse and got a 16 oz. order of prime rib, a cup of soup or salad, and a side-- all for cheaper than Mike O'Shay's was charging for their 12 oz. The ambiance of Mike O'Shays is great, and their Sheppard's Pie is tried and true. They also have really great appetizers and beers. Unfortunately, we had to learn the hard way to leave it at just that. We didn't even bother letting the waitress know how unhappy we were with the meal my boyfriend received, because last time it went over so badly. We have concluded that we believe Mike O'Shays is an overpriced and prideful (to a fault) local restaurant, and they believe they can do no wrong. I am a HUGE advocate for supporting locally run businesses- as opposed to chains like Outback Steakhouse, etc. But I have to say this is one place I will NEVER return to. The quality of their food for what they charge is just outrageous and offensive.

Good food, very friendly service. The Irish egg rolls are kinda kickass! I'd love to see a more expanded selection of Irish ales beyond the standards. Also this place gets PACKED during happy hour.

Good pub. Good selection of beer. Food was very good, we had the calamari starter and seared tuna, both very nicely prepared and nothing left behind on plate. Id try this place again. I didn't give it 5 stars because they didn't have Jameson 12 Yr Old.

Awful service. At least at this time, they have this "manager" named Todd who completely lacks any customer service traits whatsoever. Did not inform us about or bring hot sauce when we asked about it. Checked my ID, but apparently had this inconsistent (possibly nonexistent) policy that "managers" have to check EVERY ID. Except I have two eyes and noticed, not everybody's ID was needed to be reviewed by a "manager." For everybody else, the waitress was acceptable to check their IDs. I've never felt so discriminated against at a restaurant where I PAY for service..

I don't know how we haven't been here yet but we finally made it for an early dinner tonight. Place was fairly crowded but we were seated at a two top near the back, good for hearing and seeing the bar action. The menu is huge. A good variety of choices, although some were a bit odd... They do have some gluten free choices. I ended up trying the soup and sandwich option and DH got the plain burger. They ask what kind of cheese you want, but it is an up charge so be aware... My soup was decent (French onion) and they did a quick press on my roast beef with cheese so it was hot... Both were ok but a bit expensive for the dish... About $1 too much, the cheese up charge amount... But the cheese was necessary. The burger was good. It was just meat on a bun but well cooked and had lettuce and tomato on the side. Fries were also on the side. Service was quick enough, although water refill did need to be requested. Overall a decent place, but nothing stood out to me as amazing...

I wasn't impressed at all. The french Dip was good, but the drinks were not. I was with a group of about 12-14 people and apparently it was too much for the staff. The waiter would turn and walk away as I was speaking to him, and the management didn't offer a helping hand. I gave up trying to ask questions about the menu or the specials as the server could't look at me long enough to hear me, let alone answer me. This is not a good sized venue for a mid-sized group, I feel that they should not have taken our reservation if they didn't have the space, or the extra waitstaff. The sandwich was tasty and the sweet potato fries were good, but not good enough that I will return.

I haven't been back since 2012 and WOW, what a difference. I have to say the atmosphere was great, friendly, very clean and perfect. Our waitress was Heather and she did a fantastic job. We had wings for our appetizer-cooked perfectly and our entrees were also perfect!! Great job by everyone!!! I'll be back for sure.

French Dip came with a great au hue and the wifes burger was cooked to perfection. Tho not my fav's, the collection of European beers is standard, yet solid. As a ale house in Northern CO, one would hope to see a wider selection of local beers. But that is my personal thought. Good food beers and atmosphere.

We've been here the last two times we traveled to Colorado to visit family, and really like it. Good food, substantial portions, and gluten free items that meet the needs of my celiac husband, including tasty cider. They DO need to know that Omission beers are NOT GLUTEN FREE, despite their claims, and true celiacs could get quite ill if they drank them. Other than that, its great!

When we came to Mike O Shays for dinner on a Wednesday, the place was jammin. I interrupted this to mean that there was something good to look forward to, whether in food or in drink...However, I was unfortunately disappointed. The waitstaff were perfectly friendly and attentive, but the good atmosphere of the space and the friendly staff are the only good things about this place. The food was not good. Plain and simple. We started our meal with their cajun spiced chicken wings, thinking this sounded different and good - but when they arrived, it was as if plain chicken wings had been cooked and then rolled in loose spice that didn't fully attach itself to the chicken - it was way too much seasoning and totally ruined any good flavor that could have been. The main meal consisted of Chicken Cordon Blue and Tenderloin Tips in a Guinness sauce. My chicken cordon blue had waaay too much sauce on it, which when cooling, congealed into something that turned my stomach. Both dishes came with a side of spaghetti squash in addition to their suspected sides, which seemed like a random addition - Maybe they ordered too many spaghetti squashes? Who knows. I will mention that the plates were delivered hot, which is something I always appreciate in a restaurant. To be honest Im not sure why this place was so packed, because not only did the food leave a bad taste in our mouth, but my bf suffered from some pretty bad stomach backlash later that same night. We cant be 100% sure that it was the food, but it seemed like a likely culprit. Such a shame, I really was hoping to find good Irish pub in Longmont. Alas, the search continues....

Love the staff, food and drink. Why is it this app seems too remove most of the 5 star reviews? They say a business can't influence their ratings but I wonder what does.

I'm not sure what's going on here!? Maybe a new cook ? Everything just seams bland now. I'm really hoping this was a fluke visit. Service was great as usual but the calamari was bland and over salted the gyro was disappointing and the salad lacked any flavor other than the olives. Ugh I really enjoyed coming here too!

This is an extremely popular bar and restaurant in Longmont and attracts many local "regulars", generally a very good sign. It's very noisy, but that's part of the charm of an Irish pub and restaurant. Debated whether to give this two or three stars as the quality of the food was uneven. I think one is well advised to stay with traditional burgers or to choose the fish and chips which was well prepared. However the menu is wide-ranging and the Mexican dishes left a lot to be desired.

Mike O'Shay's is definitely one of the all around best restaurants in Longmont. It's often our go-to, except for the nights that it's just too long of a wait and we're too hungry. On those occasions we often role over to Sunrose Cafe down the street which is also good. In the 2 decades I've had a bad meal twice and a bad drink once. Generally, the food and drinks are really good. The one time I had a bad drink, in which they had used not so fresh mint, they gladly replaced it for me and the replacement was perfect. They have very low turnover with their staff. Most of them have been there as far back as I can remember. They are extremely efficient and professional. One of the two bad meals was a salad with bad greens, that was many years ago and hasn't happened since. The second was a dish on the specials menu that just wasn't great. But I like that they experiment and those experiments are often very good. In general you'll get good food, good service and good atmosphere here.

I'll be back for the beer, and atmosphere This is a Irish Bar. Bar service was terrific. food was "Pub Fare," which is to say, don't raise your expectations for a menu based primarly on Irish Food. Expect bland, but wholesome dining. Service was prompt and professional.

We have been here a few times now, and we really like it. It has a few very strong pro's going for it, and one noticeable con. Pro: * Great selection of beer! They don't have the massive selection of a Old Chicago, nor the "home brew" of a brewpub, but they do carry a very nice selection on tap. * GREAT Irish Coffee's! A lot of places make pretty bad ones, these guys know the proper way to make one. * I'm not normally a Prime rib guy, as other than when I make it at home most places (even those "known" for it) really don't make it well or use not very good meat. I can tell you this place has one of the BEST I have ever tasted! Call me shocked. Worth a trip on Friday night. * They made me like spaghetti squash. Never tried it before, and other than pumpkin I can't really stand the stuff. They had a little side dish of it on the Prime rib... now I'm buying it and making it at home in the same style they did. Extra credit for making the wife happy that I'll eat a forum of squash. * GLUTEN FREE items! Unfortunately my wife seems to have a gluten intolerance (much to both our dismays), and I'm sure since it's close to Boulder it's trendy to eat gluten free but for people like my wife it's great to be able to go out, get good food (including dessert if your so inclined) that she can eat and enjoy. * Friendly staff - Each time we've gone the staff has been great. They do a great job in hiring and training the staff. Kudo's to the management on this! Con: * SMALL! Unfortunately the actual restaurant is pretty small, so it makes getting in on a Friday or Saturday evening difficult. They aren't slow, but because of their size and the quantity of people it can take a too long of time to get in, especially if you have kids. They do take call ahead of up to 30 min's, so that does really help. You can also try going later once the crowds thin out. Overall: This place is one of the best restaurants in the area. If it wasn't so busy, and wouldn't make me Homer Simpson fat, I'd eat there at least weekly.

Delicious irish egg rolls. Sadly everything just feels overpriced. The guiness beef tips have also been tasty, but every other food item I've had has been lacking. Always had great service.

Best all around pub in Longmont. You can't go wrong with the food and their draft beer lineup is pretty good. They have a number of Colorado staples, but I'd like to see one or two more exotics. If you walked in on a slow day, you would have high expectations for the scene based on the really nice setup, but overall the biggest detractor from the place is that at many times, the patrons are a bit long in the tooth. Never fear though they have a great happy hour, and the staff is (are?) awesome. You won't go wrong if you stop in unless you are into the post-college pickup scene. Try the chicken-fried chicken!

My family has been going to Mike O'Shay's for years and years. It's a good pubby place. It's very comfortable, and we always seem to run into someone we know there (which, for me, is quite a feat since I haven't lived in Longtucky for almost 10 years). Not the youngest, hippest crowd in the world, but that's part of what I like about it. We've tried a lot of the things on the menu. Best choices- fish and chips, Corned beef egg rolls (I know, I know...but try them!), fish tacos were good, and the Reuben.

I love this restaurant. It is consistently great! I tried one of the new salads with grilled Shrimp and it was fantastic. The shrimp were big, fat, juicy gems of seafood that were cooked perfectly. This is one of my favorite Colorado restaurants.

Great place now that they cut out the smoking. Friendly bar and DON'T LEAVE WITHOUT TRYING THE FRENCH ONION SOUP!!! If you go and skip the French Onion Soup, then you wasted your gas.

This place is a favorite of locals for many reasons. Namely Food, Service, Atmosphere and MIke. Food - Hard to find a better menu. Everything that is on the menu, is always made the same way and the finished product can be relied upon. It is also fairly diverse, from a good ole pub burger, to burritos, to steak sandwiches to excellent cuts of steak and in my opinion some of the best seafood in town. Mike puts on daily specials and each day there seems to be at least 4 or 5 dishes unique for the day and usually include wonderful fresh fish on 1 or 2 of them. Service - Once again, second to none. I read a few reviews stating the service was bad and took a while. News flash, you are eating in a packed restaurant...on a busy night. Ive noticed they do not have a high turn over rate on staff, so dont worry, they know you are sitting there...everyone is just busy doing the same thing you are doing ....eating at a great pub. Atmosphere - Cannot describe this with words at the moment. You really are taken back to a old, bare brick walled pub in a very old building. Decor is anything from Irish artwork and pub photos, to game mounted over a few areas to new more modern light fixtures made from wine bottles and silverware. One really fun thing to do with kids is play "I spy". Mike - The owner is very involved, and for good reason. Mike will do anything from greet and seat you, ask about your family, grab you a beer and even help ensure your service is pleasant and timely. Always looking for great new menu items as well and ensuring quality control on their classic food items. He runs this place very efficiently and effectively and really helps give this the "small town, family joint" feel that makes it one of the most popular and longest running family owned places in town. What do I recommend? -Any of his great Irish Drafts -Any Fish Special, Chophouse Steak Salad, Crab Cakes, FISH AND CHIPS and the Montreal Steak Sandwich. My family loves the Sugar and Spice Salmon as well so it must be good.

Great pub feel, great food, drink and friendly service. I most recently had the buffalo burger with sharp white cheddar and sweet potato fries - all delicious. It's at O'Shay's, but worth the wait. A comfy, familiar place where I always look forward to returning.

Yeah, went in their one night, seemed overpriced for the amount of food - my boyfriend's fish in his fish and chips was tiny. Nothing memorable about it, I'd rather go up to the Pumphouse. seems to be a favorite among most locals, but not this one.

My fiance and I love this place! After trying out several of the restaurants on main street, Mike O'Shay's is by far our favorite. The food is great (you have to try the French Onion soup, its amazing) and the bartenders, especially Nann, turn out delicious cocktails each time (dirty martini and the espresso martini...so good). They have a nice selection of beers and they make sure to have chilled glasses ready. As business owners, we can't help but notice the way that management handles a busy restaurant and these folks have got it nailed down. Every single visit, we see the managers on the floor, watching what is going on, stepping in to greet a customer, clear a plate or check in with their team to see if they need anything. They are not sitting at the bar chatting or hanging out in the back, they are on their feet, working it the entire time. We impressed by Mike O'Shay's team, Great job of making our nights out fun and relaxing!

Mike O'Shay's is a popular favorite with locals, so it is often crowded and loud during dinner hours. That's not bad, just a good thing to know. Service from the bar can get quite slow. The food is fresh and tasty, with a selection of Irish dishes and pub food. The atmosphere is fun and lively, and kid-friendly. Having been here for dinner with my husband, I can say this seems like a better place for a group than a couple. I'm sure we'll be back sometime.

Mike O'Shay's eliminated smoking before the smoking ban, and immediately got busier! We went there the first night (of zero smoking) and waited outside in 20 degree weather for half and hour. We've been back many times and have always had great service and good food. Note: This is NOT Frasca, so manage your expectations! They serve food that is better than bar food. Portions are on the large side, and there is a great beer menu to choose from. This is well-run place; and gets the support of locals for a reason!

They have a great menu with a lot of variety! Traditional pub fare plus some alternative to pub food options. I have never been disappointed with the food it is consistently great! My Favorite is the Mediterranean pasta with shrimp! I crave it!

I'm giving it 3 stars which in Yelp-land translates to "A-OK." I think that is a good way to describe Mike O'Shay's. I went for the first time last night and I had really expected it to be a dive bar, but in fact it is a pretty pleasant neighborhood bar and restaurant. It had a warm feeling which was good. Definitely a place for the locals to have a beer and catch up. As things would have it, I'm a local as I live a couple blocks away, and I can definitely see myself returning with our neighbor pals. To me, it had a better vibe than the neighboring Pumphouse (although the Pumphouse has a superior patio.) There are two TVs to fulfill the sportsbar requirement, and as far as it being a pub with an Irish guy's name, the waitstaff wore kelly green polos with a shamrock logo -- that is really as Irish as it gets here. Oh, except for the portraits of notable Irishmen (James Joyce was peering over my shoulder during our meal.) We all had burgers and sandwiches which were as good as you might expect. They have an extensive menu with numerous items that seem to be stretching into culinary realms that a neighborhood pub should probably not attempt, but if I try them and find out they are fantastic I'll be sure to update and say so. It is in walking distance and serves decent burgers and brews. I'll be back.

I don't live in the area anymore and hadn't been to Mike O'Shay's in about a year. But I was back in town last weekend and decided to hit up this popular spot on Main Street. Here's what different: The restaurant has been remodeled a bit to include a sidewalk patio. It's awesome. Here's what's the same: A great food and drink selection on the menu and really tasty, quality pub grub. I went with my family of four, and we all have very different tastes and all found something we really liked. The service was good, which is typical in my experience. Mike O'Shays has a fun atmosphere - lively without being so loud you can't converse. If you're in Longmont looking for a place for dinner, I highly recommend this over one of the chains that proliferate in the southern part of the city. P.S. There's an awesome used bookstore we happened upon just a few doors down to the south.

I would like to begin by saying that the food was great. I had the Guiness beef tri tips and my hubby sampled one of their burgers. Now that the good part is out of the way, I can get to the disappointing areas. My husband and I decided to try them out for dinner on a tuesday night, the place was packed which we took to be a good sign. We were seated promptly right in front of one of the order placing stations. Now granted the place was busy, so we weren't expecting phenomenal service. That being said, it still took our waitress who walked by our table at least 3 times because she had to go by us to place orders to come by and grab our drink orders, then it took her another 5 minutes to just get us water and iced tea, which quite honestly I could have gotten myself by walking the two steps to the station (which would have been more pleasant). We were in the restaurant for a good 45 minutes due to slow service. In that 45 minutes our drinks were refilled once. Now we had driven 7 hours that day and didn't want to cook which is why we decided to go out for dinner, so after 7 hours of sitting in a car we were pretty hungry and thirsty, so our drinks disappeared pretty quickly, and you would think that as a waitress if you walk by a table that is right in front of your station and you see that the drinks are empty, you refill them. Nope, didn't happen. I don't think it's very difficult to stop by a table you walk by every few minutes to see how things are going.

Mike O'Shay's didn't impress me, but it didn't disappoint me, either. We went around 5 on Friday night, were quickly seated, and promptly had our drinks. Be warned: The mojito was one of the lime-iest I've ever had. Not undrinkable, but definitely pucker worthy. We got the buffalo burger with cheddar and the Irish Ale House burger and split them, and we both opted for the sweet potato fries with honey chipotle sauce. The buffalo seemed a little too well done, but not so much that that nice, buttery buffalo flavor was lost. The IAH burger was definitely a winner... I just wished there would have been more sauerkraut on it (but I'm kind of a sauerkraut fiend, so that might just be me and my German roots talking). The sweet potato fries were crispy and non-greasy, and the honey chipotle, while a little thin, added a nice kick. Service was quick and friendly. True, we did have to flag our waiter down for the bill and a box, but by then dinner hour was in full swing and he was also contending with a large group that had just come in. Overall, everything was good, but not outstanding. I'm sure we'll be back due to the location and a few more things on the menu we want to try, but I don't think we'll be in a huge hurry to get there.

When to O'Shay's yesterday during the Main St. festival which was pretty much rained out for the day. The four of us sat at the end of the bar near the hostess stand. The girl behind the bar clearly did not want to be there and seemed annoyed that she had to wait on us. Maybe it was because of the long stretch across that section of the bar, I dunno but she was pretty rude. At one point she served the lady's drinks and walked away as my buddy and I pointed to our empty glasses she belted out a snotty-ass "I see you" comment! I kind of wanted to reach across the bar and punch her, but the thought of being arrested for assault and doing jailed time quickly deterred my impulse. I'll probably go back, but I'll have to find out what her work schedule is first so I can avoid her. Super lame bartender!

Came to O'Shay's after waiting 20 minutes for service at another restaurant. Once at O'Shay's our server was at our table and within minutes, took our drink orders and shortly came back for our food order. The service was excellent! I decided that evening that I really like this place. The food is good, the service is great and I love the ambiance. Will definitely be coming back again and again.

I give Mike's 4 stars as a bar, and 2.5 stars as a restaurant. Mike's is great for a fun atmosphere, but the food is really mediocre and over priced. I ordered the shepherd's pie and it was tasteless...I mean seriously tasteless. Not cool for a $13 dollar entree. My husband's meal tasted a little better than mine, but it was ridiculously small for the cost. Don't get me wrong, I'll be going back, but just for a drink or two, never again for a meal.
