I am honestly surprised at all of the bad reviews that Cyclhops is receiving. The food is great (especially on Tacos al Pastor Thursday), the Micheladas are deliciously refreshing, and they have a very apparent emphasis in getting young locals employed. (Longmont locals: you will run into someone you know here.) All of these spell good times for me. Please note: I have not veered off of the tacos and tortas menu. So, I cannot speak of the food quality in that respect. Bottom line, great food and great company gives this place a good rating from me.

We had our company dinner at cycle hops tonight and it was awesome! 5 course meal in the private room and such great food. 3 ceviches especially delicious as was Basa fish and shrimp Vera Cruz. Horchata milk shakes... Yum!

Very cool idea but the service was slow and the food was just ok. When I are there it wasn't crowded at all and it seemed like our server just wasn't around. I got 3 different tacos for $8. The fish taco was blah. I would not order that again. The carne asada was way over cooked. And the third taco I actually liked it was the chicken taco.

Such a cool fusion idea for a restaurant that broth brews & cruises. They make their own beer as well as prompted the local, cruising, road biking 2-wheel lifestyle we love throughout BoCo. I loved the crane asada in the street tacos, which is the first time I've said that since leaving SoCal. Could have use a bit less salsa on the tacos, but that is splitting hairs. Great place for families as it's cool enough for parents and loud enough to cover up the screams from your excited children ;) It's so nice to see Oscar Blues expanding throughout Longmont.

I have been wanting to try this place for a while and finally did this weekend. It has great potential but just does' make it. Here are the reasons. 1. The place is a bit messy. Although there were lots of people working, the place was a bit of a mess. The only one keeping their area clean was the bartender. 2. Quite a few flies in the place. Nothing grosses me out more than flies when I am eating. 3. Sub-par margaritas. A place that serves Mexican food has to have great margaritas. Not sure if they use a mix or not but didn't taste like fresh limes. 4. Food was cold, thats right cold. I had a burrito smothered in green chile (should have been great). The entire thing including the green chile was cold. I doubt we will go back.

Wife and I ate there last Tuesday. The ambience is typical OB: lively and comfortable. The service was excellent, which is typical for OB; we've yet to have a cranky or lazy server in all of the OB places. This was our first visit to Cyclhops. The fish/shrimp ceveche was incredibly fresh and delicious; the chips that came with it were scrumptious. I had a trio of tacos: carnitas, chorizo and fried fish. The carnitas and chorizo were stunning: exceptionally fresh with a wonderful medley of flavors. The fried fish was very good but not quite as stunning as the other two. Wife had a carne asada burrito which she found delightful. All in all, another win for one of Longmont's great businesses.

I must say the theme for this place is good considering the large number of cyclist that pass this area everyday. The waitress we had was for friendly and helpful. Started off with some beers, a nice selection. I really should of had a tequila drink as this also had a good menu. Now I comes the entree well I must say street tacos should mean tiny finger food. The corn tortillas were a little greasy when I pick mine up to eat they just fell apart. The best was the the tongue and chorizo, the carne asada had a little soapy taste. The best thing was the warm chips and salsa. We also had a side of beans and cheese dip. Beans ok cheese was Campbell's in a can nacho dip on my opinion. I also tried the enchiladas which were tasty and the salsa with avocado was a hit. The table next to us had a much better looking plate with must have been an entree combo that appeared to have food that would not disappear in two bites. I will have to agree with another yelper drink but forget about the food.

I've been twice now. The service was good both times. The atmosphere is good as well. I imagine in the summer it will be a great place to have an alcoholic beverage outside. The food is poor and overpriced for what your getting. The Mole (stated as being the best thing on the menu) was bland and over cooked. The snapper was fishy. The tacos were ok but nothing to make me want to eat there again. The salsas were fair and the guacamole was all tomatoes, onions and lime juice barely any avacado. All said- I would go for the drinks and bar atmosphere but would pass on the food.

This place has become a favorite in a short time. It's unique in that it's the first Oskar Blues-related restaurant I've visited that actually has good food. The beer is a given, but let's face it, Oskar Blues isn't exactly Frasca. Or Red Robin. This place is different. I love the bike theme, as a cyclist. The menu is a mess. Using a similar format to the other Oskar Blues stores; the menu is clearly designed by someone who hates food and hates customers. It's confusing, cluttered, and poorly designed. For God's sake; hire a professional. It'll pay for itself in a month. The food is generous, well priced, and served by happy, friendly wait staff. It's somewhat brings to mind a Comida for those of us who don't live in Prospect; a bit less "hip", a bit more affordable, and a bit more relaxed. The location has been restaurant suicide; I can't recall how many places have come and gone. I hope it's around a while. P.S.: Fix the freaking menu. Please.

GREAT beer selection for a local joint and delicious Margs. I also really loved the ceviche flight option. They make three different ceviches, all so good I couldn't pick just one. Fresh food and a fun atmosphere!

Every time I take a seat in this place I am giddy that it exists mere blocks from my home. I do tend to stay away when the place is packed as it can get noisy and waiting to sit just ain't my thing. In general though, I love the 3 taco special for $8. Yummy, fresh food and I don't walk out bloated. The "Coin" marg is refreshing with squeezed lime and packs a punch. Specials are inspired and imaginative. I never feel rushed to give up my table. Wait staff is fun and helpful. I hope you guys are here for a long time!

So nice to have a Mexican meal not smothered in cheese. The tacos and enchiladas were top notch. Of course the beer on tap is world class with Firestone Walker, Green Flash and Crooked Stave mixed in with the standards. The down side is that their salsas are not good.

This restaurant has the best veggie taco I have ever had - The Sweet Potato taco. It is sweet, spicy and healthy! The previous reviews are correct regarding the service, so I have worked out a plan. I don't eat in the restaurant any longer (it is also very loud and not conducive to family dinners where conservation is wanted), I just order out. When I am craving the delicious Sweet potato tacos, I just order three for pick-up. The pick-up service so far has been easy and on time. I hope they fix the service/beer and other issues people were complaining about because I want access to these tacos forever. Keep working on it Cyclhops!

My little brother works for the brewery so I may be a bit biased but the nay-Sayers (in my opinion) need to give this place another go. We came here for my birthday a week ago... Tried out the house and verde salsa, fish and carnitas tacos and a few sides. OB nailed it! Street style tacos, awesome atmosphere and great staff. Can't wait to go back!

I have eaten here several times since NYEve. They are doing a great job of tightening up the service and the food menu just keeps getting better. One of the best ceviche's I have eaten. I have tried several tacos as well. Everything seem to be balanced well and goes great with their beers. This is my "go to" in Longmont and am looking forward to it only getting better. Well done OB.

This place is SO FRUSTRATING, because it has the potential for greatness, but as with all other Oskar Blues restaurants the drinks and the beer selection are fantastic and the food is excruciatingly mediocre/sub-par. I wish this restaurant group would put some serious effort into improving the quality and consistency of their food at ALL the restaurants. But especially at Cyclhops. After figuring out just recently that Comida no longer serves brunch in Longmont (which I'm pretty annoyed about), we decided to do Cyclhops to see if their brunch menu is more impressive than the last round of dinner we had here. And it is not. Bland, boring. Low quality ingredients. Poor execution all around. I went for the breakfast quesadilla, which, while one may not expect all that much from a simple quesadilla, there is potential for deliciousness given quality ingredients and execution. Turns out, I could have made this dish at home for a fraction of the cost, and it would have tasted 10,000 times better. All the beans and cheese were lumped on one half of the thing, and the eggs and bacon on the other half. Once I spread it all out so there was some sort of balance to the thing, it was still completely mediocre. The bacon was thin and greasy, like oscar meyers or some cheap off-brand. Zero flavor--thank god it came with some avocado salsa on the side, even if it did not look or taste so fresh. I probably could have ordered this dish at taco bell for half the price or less, and it probably would have tasted better also. Other breakfast dishes at the table were mediocre and bland at best also. Nobody left feeling like returning to Cyclhops for brunch again was a reasonable idea. I keep wanting to return, because I WANT this place to be fantastic. This is the type of neighborhood bar/restaurant I would absolutely be found at multiple times per week if the food was delicious, but instead I always leave feeling completely disappointed. Please get it together, OB.

The food is really pretty good and we had great service. I would say it's more of a 4 star, but I gave it a bump up because it is underrated in general.

I love the salsas and the civiche. The new burrito was awesome too

Very tasty and creative tacos. Great selection of beer and liquor. Interesting interior shares space with their bike shop. Indoor and outdoor seating. My only beef is with the ridiculously small portioned "large nachos". I have to believe they'll fix this eventually.

Got to try this out on 12/31/13. As a cyclist and Taco Fan, I thought it would be a good fit. The three of us tried at least one of each of the tacos, plus the guac. All got at least good reviews. The crispy fish taco was the best one I've had, and I came here from SoCal so I've had a few. It was excellent. Two of us had the beef taco. Advertised as Carne Asada, seemed more like Machaca. One was superb, but the 2nd taco had a bite that was mostly "fat" and that killed it right there. They need to be careful with that one. Carnitas Taco got very high marks as did the Sweet Potato Green Chili Taco. 3 tacos for $8 was also a great taste extravaganza at the right price. I'll be back. Summer will be really nice there with the garage doors open and outdoor seating. Lots of beers on tap.

I'm not ready to give this 5 stars just yet, but we went on NYE for lunch and had a great experience. We sat at the bar and the bartender was very helpful with the menu and friendly. The food was good (sweet potato tacos had a kick!) and always nice to get Murcan points for both guest and OB beers. We will definitely give this another go. Glad to have another OB joint to roll into the rotation. One downside: They had a lot of tequila up above the bar and back behind the bar. There was no tequila menu so I guess it was a guessing game to order your favorite. Print the tequila menu on the back of the beer menu please! UPDATE: They now have a tequila menu. We have grown to like this place more and more and put it into our weekly OB rotation. The ladies at the bar are friendly and welcoming. They still seem to have issues splitting out multiple murcan cards on a single tab, but not a big deal. Give this place a try!

it's a great spot & great atmosphere for drinks& meeting friends. Wish the food was better, maybe offer Chuburger& french fries! the salsa is great, but chips can be lighter!

I had a very good experience at Cyclhops yesterday. I wanted to use my laptop, and they found me a table near an outlet. I had 2 outstanding beers, one from Trinity, and other Crooked Stave. I tried two tacos and a torta, the perfect amount of food for a light lunch. The pork was good, the fish was crispy and the lengua & chorizo special was delicious! I would love to come in and try some tequila, sometime. Oh, I had good service, as is wasn't crowded during a weekday lunch.

For a unique decor with a lot of money and time spent on the esthetics, they have spent no time training. Food was Taco Bell worthy for twice the price and the service was extremely lack luster. Oskar Blues is usually great when it comes to service but this place is missing the pitch in a big way!

    (1)
  • Mike C.

What a great concept, and the local cyclists will love this place. However, the menu needs a serious makeover. It's way too cutesy, and not user friendly at all. Even if they copied elements from Fate, they'd be miles ahead..

  • John B.

Service is horrible. servers, hostesses and bartenders don't even give you eye contact and very Slow to get drinks and food. Tacos have come cold each time. After a month of being open their Manager really needs to dig into the issues and dial this place in before the warm season hits and those bar doors roll up. You also promised 2 sours on tap at all times and since opening weekend that has not happened.

I've had drinks/food at all of the Oskar Blues in Colorado many (many) times. Love the Tasty Weasel. The experience, until today, has been consistent. Facilities: Very good Beer menus: Excellent Music: Excellent Service: Average Food: Poor (please find the chef that created the Pump House menu and HIRE THEM - Now! and you'll take over the tap house market in Colorado) Cyclhops breaks the OB mold. Facility: Very good (will be excellent in the summer months when the garage doors are opened and the patio can be used) Beer Menu: Excellent...but would be nice if it was as good as Liquid and Solids Music: Didn't have live music tonight. I'm sure when they have music, it will be good. Service: Average..but staff is green and working hard to learn and deliver. Food: Above average. Much better than the other locations...very close to being excellent. Nice theme. Great addition to the southwest side. Keep tunin' this concept because it's a winner.

Place was packed on their "soft opening" prior to their grand opening on December 31. Crispy fish tacos & absolutely perfect guacamole were hits. Salad was very good but the hidden corn nuts provided an unpleasantly surprising crack when chewed on (waiter later told us we could ask for a salad without the corn nuts). Posole soup was not so great.

Our Father's day lunch was a really bad experience. Service was extremely poor. My husband got his beer right away, but my daughter and I did not get our coke/ice tea until after we were served our food, which took really long, and not until after we reminded the waitress that we were still waiting for our drinks. Chips and salsa were good, however, we ordered the guacamole which came only after most of our chips were gone and when we asked for more chips, it took 15 minutes to get those! I had been here previously on a week night and although the service was bad then, the food more than paid off for the wait. This second time was such a bad experience that I don't think I will go back. I ordered the 3 tacos for $8.00. The pork was greasy and soggy, the carne asada was okay and the sweet potato was decent. I MUST mention the refried beans were bland, tasteless and pretty gross. This seems like a fun place if you want drinks, but if you plan to eat here, make sure you have plenty of time because you WILL wait a while for your food to be served.

This restaurant is another brilliant creation from the same people who brought you Chub Burger. The decor is pretty cool (it's all bike themed), in fact there is bike shop right as you walk in. I always get the thee tacos for $8. You can mix and match what ever you would like. I went there three separate times the first week I found them. Don't miss this place.

  • Sylvia R.

Looked like a fun place but food was not very good with the exception of the chef's special enchiladas which were just "okay." Our server did remove the charge for the cold plastic cheese nachos we were served. Drinks were bad, too. Won't be back.

We had dinner following the Broncos game on 12/29. Understand that this is their "soft" opening, but we were extremely disappointed. We have high hopes that this restaurant will succeed because we live in the neighborhood, but they have a long way to go in terms of atmosphere and especially service. The restaurant was exceedingly cold, so cold in fact that most of the diners wore their down coats throughout dinner. Made it hard to enjoy the meal because we were just trying to stay warm. Our waiter was nice enough, but clearly untrained. Seemed like this was his first time waiting tables. Said he'd bring chips and salsa right away and it came after our meals, and only after we had to ask. Drink order was messed up and we were served the wrong orders and left to figure it out for ourselves. Took forever to get our check and he barely check on us during the meal.m Bussers not much better. Almost impossible to get a refill on water. Noticed a lot of wait staff hanging around the kitchen as bewildered and cold guests waited for checks, water, etc. The food was decent, but again, hard to enjoy and probably not worth the suffering involved. Manager said she'd taken 15% off our bill, but it came without any discount and we had to remind her and ask for the discount to be applied. Staff needs a lot of training. Hopefully they will get it, but we will stick with Comida for now.

would not recommend this place to anyone. menu is extremely limited and 'chef' will NOT accommodate ANY changes to menu items... (i.e. meat in the enchilada whether you want it or not)... only one vegetarian option, unless you want a salad. won't be going back.

  • Lauren B.

I'm not sure why this place has only 3 stars. It's definitely a specialty thing. If you love bikes and beer and Mexican food ... where else is there but Cyclhops? During a visit to CO, we stopped in after hiking Rocky Mountain National Park. We were hungry. We were thirsty. And my boyfriend just loves Oskar Blues, REEB, and just cycling in general. Unfortunately, the store was closed by the time we got there, but the atmosphere of the rest of the place is fun. Was it the best Mexican I've ever had? Probably not. But was it tasty? Yes. We ordered guac with pineapple and pomegranate seeds, which was delicious! I had tacos and he had an enchilada, all well seasoned.

  • Kristen W.

Calamari is sucky, salsa is bleh, guacamole is okay at best, fish taco was bland. Nice environment and our servers were nice and kept our drinks full and checked back many times, manager apologized for the calamari. My friends got tacos too and they were insanely underwhelmed. Horchata was good but smallest I've ever gotten at a restaurant and 4 bucks. My friends and I won't be back unless they get a new chef, actually probably not even then.

Good salsas, the short rib in mole negro was tender and delicious! Some things were spicier than expected, but everything we tried was very good!

  • Brydon C.

Their food is good and at an ok price point. Three tacos fill me up fine for $8. The yucca fries are a hidden gem and are fantastic. It'd be nice if they had another, more flavourful, vegetarian taco. The beers are a bit pricier than I'd like and the only beer-related happy hour specials are $3 canned mexican beers. C'mon, Oscar Blues. At least give us a dollar off your staple house taps or something. The margaritas are ok, but not worth the price even at happy hour. My biggest issue with Cyclhops is the service. It's just terribly slow. So. Slow. I've stopped going here for lunch with my coworkers (3-4 people) because we can't get in and out in an hour. Which is a shame, because it's pretty close to our office and not usually busy. It generally takes 10 minutes just to get water and another 10 to get someone to take our order. After the food's been dropped off, good luck finding someone to check in, refill drinks, and eventually bring you your cheque. I was in last night for an early-ish dinner (5pm) and had the same experience. Good food, just really slow service.

  • Nathaniel D.

It could be so much better! It has a cool atmosphere and a pretty good location but big issues. Beer is overpriced; the cheapest thing you'll find is a $4 can of Tecate. Tacos were flavorless. The flour tortillas were stale and crunchy, the corn ones were crumbly and unappealing, and the lettuce taco/wrap thing looked like a poorly constructed salad, just tossed on the plate. This is a perfect example of a business resting on its laurels, and expecting people to continue coming through the doors because 1) the customers don't know better, and 2) they have more money than taste. Just because you can charge a ton for beer doesn't mean you should. I can't speak to the bike shop.

Yucca fries with a mango salad outdoor patio bacon wrapped Anaheim peppers! They have gotten everything right in this kitchen awesome local sourced menu!

    (5)
  • Ben C.

We had an excellent experience. I had the Wednesday special of bacon wrapped Anaheim peppers. It was fantastic. I would have liked a little more of the sides. We had the guacamole and the fire roasted salsa. Both were good as well as the house salsa. From the menu it wasn't clear that they had a house salsa so that is why I ordered the fire roasted salsa. They have hard tacos too which I will try next time. They fry their own taco shells rather than using the bland sysco ones. All of the staff were top notch. Sure it isn't cheap but you don't want the riff raff anyway.

  • Dulcie F.

I really wanted to like this place. I've been a few times, and every time I have left completely underwhelmed. The tacos have all been just meh. I think it was the carnitas taco that was the best? Some of the tacos are downright flavorless! The margaritas are also just so-so. Yes, of course, they have good beer. If you want good tacos and good cocktails, go to Comida.

Such a great place to eat I would recommend everything here as it is all good and my son and wife love it as well.

  • Sean H.

Cool atmosphere, friendly staff. Cool little attached bike shop. The food was delicious, the crispy avocado taco was super good. Might echo that it seemed a tad pricey - you're not gonna go bankrupt but it's definitely not the place if you're looking to eat cheap.

  • Tim S.

I don't know if this is a bike shop with a Mexican cantina in it, or a cantina with a bike shop in it, but it's a fun place and very Oscar Blues all around. The bikes: a bit pricey but I hear they're great. The cantina: again on the pricey side except for the O.B. branded libations but they're creative, experimental, and all around pretty fun. The quality of the food can be hit and miss. Not sure if the queso/chorizo appetizer was supposed to be that insubstantial and greasy, but it was a bit of a letdown. And regarding that: we were promised a show involving fire that didn't materialize either. We did get STELLAR service in every other respect though, and I count this as a quirky, fun place that I will definitely give a second chance.

It is super! Bought a bike tune and lunch. OB's beer is great, I know that. But, I had a B.Stiff root beer, which was super. Great food. Very good service. This is a jewel in the landscape, especially being on a trike.

  • Joe D.

I've been twice and both time really enjoyed the food and the service is great, really attentive. Both times I had taco plates, the carne asada isn't SoCal authentic but wasn't bad either. The one thing I didn't like was being asked if I wanted beans and rice with them, seems like they should come with beans and rice, then realizing they were almost as expensive as the tacos! Tacos for two shouldn't be $40 (we didn't even have drinks)...

REVIEW IS FOR BIKE SHOP - restaurant portion = 3/5 stars (decent menu, prices are a little whack) My experience today at the bicycle shop within Cyclhops. I ride my bike over to the shop and go inside and start looking around. No employees is in sight or at the counter. I walk around (the only person in the shop) for about 3-4 minutes picking up a $50 U-lock, 2 t-shirts, 2 water bottle cages, and was also curious in getting an estimate for a bike tune-up. I finally walk to the counter and stand there, I see someone in the back who looks up sees me (with my arms full) and doesn't say anything. 30 seconds later another customer wheels a bike in and the guy from in the back (for visual reference: short, balding, mid-late thirties) comes out and starts helping the other guy. They talk for close to 10 minutes, me standing at the counter at this point getting visibly annoyed. The other customer at this point says, hey if you want to help him check out, we can come back to this. The REEB cycle employee says "nah we can finish this first". I take my $100 worth of stuff drop it on the shelf. SORRY DALE, but I'll continue to take my hard earned money into Boulder I guess going forward. At least at Boulder Cycle Sport or University Cycles I KNOW I can get service without any attitude and those shops actually want my money. Sucks b/c I was excited when the shop was opening b/c it's only a mile from my house. Oh well biking the 16 miles into Boulder will be better for my health in the long run so at least there's that.

Good service and tasty food. Tacos really hit the spot, and burrito with ranchero sauce is nice and spicy. Love the assortment of many house hot sauces too. Skeletons on the wall and unique art makes for great browsing if the group you're with is boring at conversation. Beers are a little overpriced, so we typically go elsewhere if we're looking to sit and have a few beers.

I'd give 0 stars if I could. This is now my 2nd review of Dale's Taco Stand, the first having been removed due to being too harsh. The fish tacos stank, deep fried frozen fish. They could throw a couple fish sticks in then and they'd be better. Sauce is bland.. hint, throw a line wedge on the plate, it'll make a bug difference. Service was beyond slow, 20 minutes just to get our menus on a not so busy Sunday afternoon.. Next time I'll just go to Del Taco. Thanks Dale.

I have been in three times and not once did I have a good meal or margarita. Very suprised you can screw up tacos and cheese dip but this joint can.. There will not be a 4th time for me.

  • Erik D.

Good beer selection but def. little pricey there. I always go for the 3 for $8 tacos. You have a choice in what you'd like the taco in, be it lettuce, corn tortilla, flour tortilla. or tostada. And theres def. a solid choice of what you'd like in the taco. Though I have to say, being originally from Jersey, the calamari is a real upset. Not that I expected it to be great but its beyond sub-par. It's a hip joint though. Overall, I dig it. Definitely check it out if your in the area and looking for solid bar food and tasty beverages

Yes, I'm a fan because this is a great place to come if you're a local. We need spots like this. It's fun, it's got good vibes, and the beer is tasty. I do love Tacos and I give those a thumbs-up too! However, iIt's expensive. One day for lunch we were offered a Chili Relleno burrito and .. yeah, that sounded great! $14 bucks later I was disappointed ... I should have gotten the tacos for $8 bucks. Come here after work with friends, it's perfect!

Tasty street tacos for lunch-- decent prices tho. Standard bar atmosphere, not particularly comfortable-- noisy, hard surfaces, TV going, etc. Most wait staff has been fine if a little inattentive from time to time.

I've eaten here twice now. The food has been excellent and very high quality, portions are a good size and the drinks are ok. Since they're focusing on tequila, I'd really love to see some mezcal, but I don't think there are currently any on the menu. I'd also really like to see flights, since they have such a large selection. Also, though the service hasn't been bad, we've had two different servers, and they've both been a little awkward (and not in a cute way). They haven't been very personable, and seem afraid to talk...though this isn't a dealbreaker. Update: Now have both mezcal AND flights available. Yay!

First let me state, if you have never read one of my reviews, I work in the service industry and have for close to 10 years. This was our second visit to Cyclehops. Once again they where out of the Malbec, one of the few wines they offer, and their Merlot is just so-so. My boyfriend enjoyed most of the beers he has had there, but rather over priced. I would like to state that our food was decent, nothing amazing, but good enough. Though the fact that both times food has come out on chipped plates, come on. I know this is an odd thing to notice, but I have never worked in a place where it was ok to send out chipped plates, they are porous and thus can not be truly clean for food safety. Our sever, it seemed may have had too many tables or the hostess was seating too many tables in his section at once. For after he dropped the food off, he said he would be back with more water....... my friend ended up getting up and getting a pitcher because our glasses sat empty for 15+min and no one (hostess, busser, server) came by to replenish or ask how our food was, she did this IN-FRONT of a number of servers! My friend was done, my boyfriend was 3/4ths done, and I was done with my food before a manager came to ask how our food was and take our plates, not feeling like he really cared to hear what we had to say, he rushed off, dropped our bill and we had to hunt down someone to take our card and run it. So to recap simply.... What can I say, service was terrible. I have never known a place to be out of an on menu alcoholic beverage for over a month with out doing something about it. Chipped plates are a no-no. Food was so-so. Wont be back.

WELL, tonight did it! BUT, I'm over it!! While I think the place has great potential, I have yet to experience it. I walked over --have done so on numerous occasions as I live within walking distance, and have only been served drinks on one; and chips, salsa and a drink on another-- (recently moved to neighborhood, and have heard but rejected many neighbors' letting me know of the service, prices, and random hours--which is why this place is possibly suffering). Will NOT bother walking over to possibly catch a drink or order any food, in the future. I believe the glowing reviews to be of those who work there, or friend or acquaintance of the staff ... .....wish I had read the reviews prior to this frustration. I think ownership should clearly develop policy or set store hours, and post them to avoid having such a disgruntled neighbor. My perception is one of poor management, and a pretentious staff--Depending on who you encounter at the bar, and whether you know them--is taken into account whether you get served. (E.g. If you have 4 *possible* employees sitting drinking at the bar, and a booth full of ladies "finishing" up their cocktails, why not consider the sale of another beverage to someone who clearly wants refreshment, and has mentioned that he will drink it quickly, and leave.)

Service couldn't get any worse. I've eaten here about 5-6 times in the past months since they've been open and the service is literally terrible! My friend asked if he could get something on the menu made a little bit different and the server told him that the "chef" doesn't like to deviate from the menu, so NO, he could not special order anything. Very disappointing! We've talked to the manager on duty about the service, but he didn't care much. He's a young guy just like the staff who are more interested in having fun talking to each other than serving customers. Won't be visiting again.

Can I just say how much I love these guys chips and salsa?! Yum. Their chips are some of my favorite. I've only discovered this place recently but the waiters and waitresses we've had were exceptional. One waiter even gave us extra chips to take home when I asked for a to go cup for the salsa! Needless to say I gobbled the chips up within 24 hours. I'm not a huge fan of bands in a restaurant, so I generally try and stray away from the days they do have a band playing. They also at times can have a pretty long wait. Their nachos are sub-par (the typical gross nacho cheese sauce you get at a movie theatre), but the street tacos are deeeelicious. They give good size portions of rice and beans, and we always have enough food left over for lunch the next day. Being an Oskar Blues establishment, it goes without sayin they've got great beer. And the waiters/waitresses always seem to have a good knowledge of what's good. Needless to say, I'll be going back again and again.

I liked their vegy tacos. Decent flavor and not terribly overpriced, though not great either. Their happy hour is a joke and prices on drinks are terrible. Atmosphere is ok unless you're sitting next to someone playing a board game.

This is my mom's favorite restaurant. She has Alzheimer's and we go out once or twice a week. The staff here are amazingly kind and understanding and treat both of my parents great. The food has gotten a lot better over time too from when they first opened (Tuesday night duck special is my favorite). Sometimes I will tell my mom I have had too many tacos and can we get pizza instead. She's pretty agreeable so will say "yes, pizza sounds great" but 30 seconds later she always asks if we're going to The Place. And, knowing her I know she means tacos. So, this place is awesome for making both my parents feel comfortable. They love the margaritas and rave about the tacos. We started going a lot of different places, but the pure kindness of the staff here has won us over (that and the fact no other choice is remembered after 30 seconds). So, tons of thanks to the awesome staff here for being so great and making dinner out enjoyable for usually 3 generations of my family. Which is no easy task!

Food is no where near fresh. But even the best cook in the world can't help you if the executive chef is lost. Service is spotty. Been a few times and it seems to be either great service or close to nada. Most of the food we received had been on a steam table, for a long time. Avoid the fish at all costs. Never been a fan of processed cheese, but the nachos left a lot to be desired, mainly due to the cheese. Nice to see a few of the old managers out and maybe this place will swing around.

Living in Longmont it's really sad that Oskar Blues keeps opening sub-par concept restaurants. I've love their beer, always will, but they need to stay out of the food business. I put off trying Cyclhops for a while in hopes that they would work out some of the issues that seemed plentiful in the early reviews. Being in SW Longmont there isn't really any neighborhood joints, I so wanted Cyclhops to be good. It was so not. Service was shockingly awful. I would have walked out if the wife hadn't insisted that we wait it out, give it a chance. The place had 10+ empty tables when we walked in and we were told we would have a 5 minute wait for a table to open up. 20 minutes later we sat at the bar with our 5 year old because it seemed like the only chance to get food. We eventually did get food. It wasn't very good. The guacamole tasted only of onion and lime, the salsa really didn't taste of anything at all. The fish taco was absurdly salty and the size of the chicken tacos were insulting and lacked any resemblance of fresh ingredients. The rice and beans tasted like cafeteria slop at best. They really had an odd taste. In conclusion- Nice atmosphere. Oskar Blues is always good with their decor. However, the service and the food were really really bad. It really makes me sad. I want Longmont to have good places to eat, I want it so bad. Some day... i hope. It's probably a nice place for a drink but I won't be trying that theory out because there is no way this place is getting another shot.

Awesome taco joint! I love their "fixie" margarita and great beer selection. The al pastor taco special on Thursdays is so delicious, it's topped with a pineapple salsa that will rock your world. Fun, fresh atmosphere with garage doors that open up in warmer weather. Definitely a must see!

First off let me say I love Oskar Blues They do a great job with their beer and restaurants. As for the food I am from California and have also lived in Texas for a short stint so I know what Mexican food is supposed to taste like, having tried many Mexican places in Colorado I had pretty low expectations. The food while not super great is at lease decent and obviously the beer selection is great. It has a really cool atmosphere especially for bike loving Colorado. However, the service is atrocious, not that the servers are rude or anything they are quite nice but if you go here make sure you have PLENTY of time. We stood at the front desk waiting for the hostess for more than 10 minutes and when the obviously annoyed person came up she walked away immediately and took a couple more minutes to come back. When we finally got seated it took a very long time before we were even acknowledged the server was nice but it took quite a long time more before we got our chips and drinks. It seems as though perhaps they are just very unorganized which is surprising considering their other places. Hopefully they get it together because this is a cool place to go on a Sunday afternoon and we can ride our bikes there..... Please read this Dale and see if you can fine tune it a bit :)

Cool atmosphere, friendly staff. Cool little attached bike shop. The food was delicious, the crispy avocado taco was super good. Might echo that it seemed a tad pricey - you're not gonna go bankrupt but it's definitely not the place if you're looking to eat cheap.

Very cool idea but the service was slow and the food was just ok. When I are there it wasn't crowded at all and it seemed like our server just wasn't around. I got 3 different tacos for $8.

Yay!

  • Mike C.

What a great concept, and the local cyclists will love this place. However, the menu needs a serious makeover. It's way too cutesy, and not user friendly at all. Even if they copied elements from Fate, they'd be miles ahead..

Posole soup was not so great.

would not recommend this place to anyone. menu is extremely limited and 'chef' will NOT accommodate ANY changes to menu items... (i.e. meat in the enchilada whether you want it or not)... only one vegetarian option, unless you want a salad. won't be going back.

Looked like a fun place but food was not very good with the exception of the chef's special enchiladas which were just "okay." Our server did remove the charge for the cold plastic cheese nachos we were served. Drinks were bad, too. Won't be back.

Cool atmosphere, friendly staff. Cool little attached bike shop. The food was delicious, the crispy avocado taco was super good. Might echo that it seemed a tad pricey - you're not gonna go bankrupt but it's definitely not the place if you're looking to eat cheap.

Tasty street tacos for lunch-- decent prices tho. Standard bar atmosphere, not particularly comfortable-- noisy, hard surfaces, TV going, etc. Most wait staff has been fine if a little inattentive from time to time.

I really love this place! The staff is always very welcoming and friendly! I usually go for the fish tacos! They are awesome! They've got a great selection of changing beers on tap. They always have OB beers and recently had Pliny The Elder tapped.. Very awesome!! The Margs are good.. But I usually grab a few pints of Dale's or Pinner!!

Yay!

What a great concept, and the local cyclists will love this place. However, the menu needs a serious makeover. It's way too cutesy, and not user friendly at all. Even if they copied elements from Fate, they'd be miles ahead..

Looked like a fun place but food was not very good with the exception of the chef's special enchiladas which were just "okay." Our server did remove the charge for the cold plastic cheese nachos we were served. Drinks were bad, too. Won't be back.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes.
