We ordered take-out, so I can't attest to the service, merely the food. And that food was bland and cheap (quality, not price). My beef lo mein consisted of ramen noodles (you know the ones you can buy for a buck a package) and some beef, onions, and mushrooms. The sauce was way too sweet for lo mein. Maybe this was supposed to be hipster lo mein and impress younger eaters. The rest of the food went over about as well with the rest of my family. Beef with Broccoli with no sauce and Sweet and Sour Chicken that was just chicken with a thin glaze on it. We're going to stick with the non-chain Chinese place that we usually frequent. Much better food for a better price.

We've been here a handful times since my prior review and have not had the same issue with the rice. The wontons are wonderful as well!

This place has never let me down! Definitely one of my favorites. Quick food delivery and good service.

Wow, just wow. We come here a couple times a year. It has been about 8 months from the last time we were here. We walked in and it looks the same as always. We ordered and sat down and as we were waiting on our food, I looked around the place. It is absolutely filthy! I didn't notice anything when I grabbed our drinks and napkins. When I sat down and really checked the place out, I noticed the doors to the back kitchen and they were filthy. The chars in the whole restaurant were disgusting. The windows were dirty and the doors you walk out of where you push to go out were gross. I can only imagine what kind of bacteria is living and having a party all over that place. Oh I forgot about the food. It was okay. I can only imagine how dirty the parts I can't see or didn't see look like. Ick! I'm sad to say, I don't think we will be going back. I can't forget to add that the service was good. That won't make me go back. Reading the other reviews doesn't look very good for this dirty birdie place.

This Pei Wei has gone downhill! Be prepared to wait up to an hour for take out even if you call ahead and then when you get your order your soup will be cold, rice undercooked, and missing ingredients to your meal. One good thing I will say about my most recent trip is they managed to actually get the dipping sauce for the wontons in the bag without me asking for it. Signed done with this location.

Too crowded, too slow, mediocre service. There are too many better places to visit in the area.

Before I start my angst ridden soliloquy, I should preface by saying I'm in a really good mood and had a really good week! Ah, the bitches of Pei Wei. The girls behind the counter are cute (I guess) dammit if they don't know it. They're all bitchy teenagers and there may be two brain cells to rub together between all of them. But, their manager seems to appreciate their good work...errr....taut high school bodies. Gross, man. These girls are young enough to be your daughters. You're pretty inappropriate with that rubbernecking head of yours. Eyes up here, man! I've been here 3 or 4 times since I moved to the highlands ranch bubble, and my food has never once been prepared or packed as ordered. The place is never what I'd consider clean. Pretty disappointing considering how chain restaurants all have strict quality control standards. Or do they..... Tonight I left mid way through placing my order because dingbat bitchy skinny boss cuddler couldn't stop gossiping long enough to 1) ask what size I wanted or 2) note my dietary restrictions. Done. Over. No more Pei Wei.

Super slow service! Don't come for a quick bite. There was 4 other small groups of people in the restaurant 3 had food at their table, one receives their order about five minutes after we arrived and it took 20 minutes to get our food!!!!

Read some of the comments and agree with some, but others are just to delicate. This food is amazing. Best fast food Asian cuisine I've to in Denver Metro. If I wanted a fancy, super clean, and superb service restaurant then I would go to downtown. This is a fast food joint. Great place. Great taste. Highly recommend it.

Avoid pick-up ordering at this location! 20 min wait times after your order was supposed to be ready! Happens twice. Order are also incorrect. Food quality poor.

  • Jeff S.

Service was marginal They forgot to fix the kids food Let us order spicy tuna rolls - then came to the table and said they didn't have any Then came back with spicy tuna rolls that seemed to have been made and sitting somewhere for a while All the brochures say " freshly made " - I'm not sure about that. We won't be back to this location

This location has gone down hill fast. Waited in line for about 20 minutes to order. Person taking our order said nothing about there being a long wait time to be served our meal. After 30 minutes I walked up to the counter to check on our meal. There were still 4 other orders in front of ours. It took another 10 minutes to get our meal (40) minute wait in total. Plus I had to go through five plates before I could fine a clean plate without dried food on it. The men's bathroom was filthy! Not a good experience at all. We asked for the manager and when he came over to our table he was completely indifferent to ours concerns. He stated something about the quote times were about an hour. We were never given a quote order when placing our food order. The manager acted like he could care less that we were upset about the ridiculous wait time. In summary, very dirty bathrooms, dining area, dirty plates, absurd wait time and poor customer service by manager. This location is now off our list of places to eat. Will not be back! E. From Highlands Ranch.

As far as food quality, I have to say it is a little below panda express for taste. It may be associated with PA Changs, but it's a weak association. The lettuce wraps seem to be the same good quality though.

I love Pei Wei and order take out about twice a month but there is just no consistency. One night you'll get a great meal, the next your rice is rock hard and the chicken is bone dry. So frustrating :(. I really want to continue ordering from here, but I think I'm done.

Pei Wei's Thai Dynamite shrimp alone justifies the 15 minute road trip from our house! Mmmm, the shrimp is lightly fried so that it is crisp and spicy with sauteed red peppers, carrots, scallions and a slice of lime! It has a fresh and bright flavor for a stir fry. My dining companions (teens) rave about the Dan Dan noodles, especially the beef Dan Dan. The noodles are a little gooey/ pasty for my taste but they absolutely love them. I would describe the hot and sour soup as identical to it parent P.F. Chang's' recipe which I really enjoy. It is not an authentic flavor but I do find it strangely addictive. :-0 The concept here is fast and relatively healthy. I understand that P.F. Chang's China bistro debuted Pei Wei Asian Market as its version of "fast-casual" which it really is. The cashiers are friendly and the self serve soda fountain is a nice convenience for frequent refills. Unfortunately, this particular location has lost/ had suspended its liquor license so no vino or beer with dinner. Perish the thought! Overall, I would argue it is better than many of the area options for fast and casual Asian food.

I took my children her last night 10/24/13 at 6pm we ordered 2 sweet and sour chickens, vegetable lo me in and 1egg roll. First we waited over 30 min for our food. When you have children you know how much if a pain that is. Our egg roll was cold or rice was severely undercooked and inedible and our lo mein was so over cooked it was mushy and also inedible. Absolutely disappointed. Over priced inedible food with a terrible wait. First and last visit here.

First time ever at a Pei Wei for lunch; I liked that the menu was big and bold so I could read it without squinting! The Lemongrass Chicken Noodle Salad and veggie spring rolls were really good! I'll definitely give it a shot again. It did take awhile though to have the food ready to go but otherwise a good experience.

After waiting 30 minutes, they screwed up and gave my order to the wrong person. Stuff happens, I understand. What really upset me was that after they finally gave me my food (another 15 minutes later) the manager came out and offered me a pseudo-apology. He faulted the customer in front of me for taking my order. Really? Comp the meal, apologize, and don't make excuses! Unacceptable service and I'm never going back.

Mediocre, bland and salty food with tragically pathetic service. Thought the first time was a fluke and gave it a second chance. Bad idea!

This may be the last time we visit. This is not the first time this location has messed up our online/to-go order. Not until we got back to the house did we realize they gave us the wrong order. The receipt provided indicated everything was accounted for. The kids/employees at this location, do not pay attention to detail, are absent minded and cause a lot of frustration. The whole intent of ordering to-go is for an expedited dining experience, we haven't found that here.

The wife is out-of-town and I've purposely cleaned out the fridge at home so all the leftovers & stuff I bought/consumed bachelor style got used up. Off to the store to stock things back up (I'm such a good hubby....) & get something to eat before buzzing out to KS (seems like that to getting to DIA from this part of town, but I digress...) OK, Pei Wei...Been there, done that, but generally can't go wrong... I usually get their Thai curry, as I'm a curry freak. But this time, they have a "limited time only" Korean BBQ thing on the menu. Why not? Not a bad choice. Different & good. Spicy thing with carrots, scallions, sesame seeds & a different, nice asian slaw on top. Meat was a bit overdone, but I can overlook that as it didn't set things off all that much. Having this with shrimp would have been killer.... PW isn't your local neighborhood Chinese joint, but they do their thing very well considering it's a standardized chain formulaic concept

    (3)
  • Sidney S.

It's a Pei wei...probably the best of the chain Chinese joints. I used another free gift card here...very filling lunch before my flight of Ginger Beef, Lettuce Wrapped Chicken and soup. Service good as usual...food tasty as usual. Not sure about what happened with Erica P. below, but our food was definitely fresh with huge portions. And after a weekend of sun, a lovely snow started to fall :) A nice ending to a great Colorado visit!

An hour for take-out is completely unacceptable. Running out of rice is unacceptable. This place is completely unorganized. Go elsewhere.

When in lived in super suburbia (aka Highland Ranch) I enjoyed getting Pei Wei take out. Located on the corner of H. Ranch Pkwy and University, it shares the parking lot with the many shops in the Whole Foods shopping center. Not your run of the mill Chinese, but a little more upscale (or gourmet if you will). Pick your protein, rice or noodle, pick you dish - a lot of variety. You can get brown rice too! Always makes me happy :) It isn't the best ever, but it satisfies!

Pei Wei (pronounced Pay Way) is a wonderful chain of small "asian fusion" type restaurants. Order at the counter and they then bring it to you, a la Noodles Inc. Fast casual, I guess you'd call it. Real silverware and plates are a nice touch compared to their ugly step-sister, Panda Express. I'm not an asian food expert, but I'm guessing PW's menu is very Americanized, but that's fine with me. I've had at least half their menu over the years and it's all very good. Fresh, excellent flavors and nothing so exotic that you wonder what you're eating. Go before or after lunch rush because it gets quite busy and noisy. Lunch and dinner menu is the same, so don't expect the $5.95 special with soup and eggroll. But this ain't your local Chinese restaurant that once was a Taco Bell, so expect to pay a few dollars more and know that it will be worth it. Last time there I was staring at the wall menu for some time because I couldn't decide. The manager actually came over and asked me some questions to help me make up my mind. Nice touch. They serve wine, too, which I think a lot of people overlook. Owned by PF Changs, many people I know prefer Pei Wei because it's faster and cheaper and without the pretentiousness. I couldn't agree more.

I love everything about this place except for the size of the portions. I think they made them a little smaller recently or something. But, the food is delicious. I love the way the restaurant is laid out. I like the way the menus are displayed when you walk in and it's fun to see the food cooking right before your eyes. I love the napkins and the chopsticks and the orange slices you can put in your water and the fortune cookies. I love how white and delicious the rice is and the food is oh so flavorful and delicious. And it's not too greasy like a lot of Asian food. Pei wei, I love you!

Superior customer service! A busser went out of her way to order and deliver an item to me. Only reason not giving 5 stars was my shrimp was a little in the greasy side.

Told to pick up at 6:05pm. Still waiting at 6:30pm. Disorganized and can't properly handle heavy traffic. Finally got my order at 6:35pm. I upped my review from 2 stars to 3 stars because the manager did acknowledge the disarray and added a free dish to our order.

Finding fast food that's semi healthy which a 7 year old will eat is a challenge. My daughter loves the kids meal and crab wonton here. Plus the added bonus is I like the food too.

For those that didn't read it elsewhere, Pei Wei's is sort of a little brother to the larger and more glamorous P.F. Chang's, and yet another chapter in the evolution of Chinese food from back alley dives to a more cosmopolitan sheen (read Jennifer 8. Lee's "The Fortune Cookie Chronicles for more about Chinese food in America.) Pei Wei's is pretty casual. You won't feel bad if you come in with shorts and a t-shirt. You walk past a large menu, pick what sounds good, order it at the cashier counter which is adjoined to the viewable kitchen, take your little round number and wait at your table. Ordering was pretty seamless. I opted for a cup of the Hot and Sour soup and the Dan Dan noodles, while my eating partner went with the Asian Chopped Chicken Salad. I have to say, his salad was underwhelming, but the Hot and Sour soup was wicked good. I don't think you can really "mess up" Hot and Sour soup, but you can change it up a bit, and Pei Wei's makes it very, very spicy. After I was done with my soup I looked at my Dan Dan noodles with anxiety. They had been marked spicy where the soup had not. But I found them to be very mild, though flavorful. They're like a thick spaghetti, totally plain when served. The sauce occupies the bottom of the bowl (apparently this is how it's supposed to be done, according to Fuschia Dunlop's most recent traveling and eating book) and when stirred makes a passionately colored noodle dish, with a handful of sliced cucumber to cool the palate from the apocryphal spice threat. Portions were goodly sized, but not godly sized, and left me satisfied and filled. It was very noisy in Pei Wei's when we went at peak lunch hour, but the whole restaurant has a vibrant and busy vibe, with the up-front kitchen and casual dining atmosphere, mixed with some country Chinese kitchen charms, such as the hanging woks and bamboo strainers. In the midst of this summer's China hype (Olympics, economics and Kung Fu Panda) this was a real fun meal to complement the other Sino-philic trends going around. I'd definitely like to eat here again.

Wow this place is really bad. Talk about wayyy tooo much sodium/MSG. Do not go here unless you are looking for a sudden heart attack and please take a look at their nutritional chart before you go to see the amount of heart-stopping sodium in each of their over-sauced dishes. I literally had chest pains and the worst cotton mouth ever after eating this garbage. The one and only good thing on their menu is their chicken lettuce wraps.

This location has serious issues. We ordered our dinner and waited 35 minutes but never received our order. We finally demanded a refund and left. I'd avoid this place unless you have a lot of time on your hands.

  • Tracy C.

Have been going here for 4 years. The food went from good to yuck. I used to love it, but it is getting less and less flavorful and well prepared. I stick with the soups and apps now. The service recently has been really disappointing! I usually go take out with online ordering and the food is never ready when promised. I'm am starting to avoid this place because of it.

Fast food version of PF Chang's. The lettuce wraps are just as great... We ordered the Mongolian beef which they add mushrooms in addition to the green onions which we liked. It was a little on the dry and salty side but we ate it all. We also ordered the Dan Dan noodles which were overcooked. The manager was nice enough to let us order something else to bring home. If it weren't for the gesture, we wouldn't have decided to come back. Now that's customer service!

I've been coming to this place for about 2 years now and have always been pretty satisfied with the service, food and prices. It's a nice change from noodles and co. Chipotle and especially Tokyo joes. I like that you can watch them making everything. I trust it's freshness. Their lettuce wraps are always good and their Thai dynamite wok was very satisfying. Service was super quick. I'll be coming back.

  • Jesse M.

Just overall not very good. Have given it two chances now and neither time was memorable. The first time I got a chicken dish and it tasted very bland with a generic sauce on it, and some paper was included in the meal so that was fun. Also tried a sushi roll and it was not fresh, tasted like store packaged sushi. The second time I got pad thai with tofu and it was also very bland, paid 1.99 to add a spring roll that was also very uninspiring. There are many much better options around the area for authentic Chinese food that are much much better.

food was great and gluten free. expect to wait an extra 10 minutes or so for gluten free. I think they cook gluten free last after all other dishes...

When i eat at this location I usually order the Thai dynamite and they usually burn it. yesterday I ordered some hot and sour soup which is my favorite soup at Asian restaruants, with the new spicy tuna roll. When the cashier gave me my cup I had to ask for a different one because it had a large white piece of crud stuck to the inside of it. I sat at the bar, the soup came right away and was not very hot temperature wise but I ate it anyway, I had to ask for a different spoon because the one they gave me had some brown crud on it. Even the spoon they gave me after asking for a different one had a white film on it but i just rubbed it off with my napkin. The server told me that it would be just a moment for the sushi roll because they had to roll it. That was a lie because I am sitting at the bar and see no rolling being done I was pretty unsurprised when they roll comes out looking like it was made two days ago. the rice was dry and the meat looked old. It came with some kinda spicy mayo sauce and soy sauce in a ramekin, with a ball of old dry wasabi. I didnt feel like complaining and asking for a refund so i ate all four pieces after drenching them in the mayo and dunking them in soy sauce. It made me nauseous for hours. This place is right down the street from where I live and It used to be a decent place but over the last few years they have gone through several different managment teams, and they simply cant get their act together it seems. They fail to make quality consistent which is not too much of a problem since they will usually fix it or get you something else if you don't like what you got. However after seeing how poorly their cups and utensils are washed and getting sick from the food, I will never eat here again.

  • S C.

Food isn't bad but the place is filthy. Picked up 3 forks and finally had to ask for plastic ware. The soy sauce and chili sauce containers were full of people's grime. Can't they even wipe them before placing bed I on the shelf? The floor looked like it hadn't been wiped since yesterday. Very disappointing for a highlands ranch location. Also didn't serve the lettuce wraps with any sauce.

My family dined at this restaurant this past Saturday eve and was VERY disappointed with our experience. We have been regular visitors to this location in the past. When we first moved to Highlands Ranch about 5 years ago we had frequented this location and had noticed and really enjoyed dining there. The manager at the time was very attentive, and you could tell he ran a good and tidy"ship". The employees were always cheery, attentive and helpful and the food was great. That was then...Saturday was another story all together. Upon entering the restaurant, we noticed how filthy it appeared. There was food all over almost every empty seat and table. We had to ask a busser to come over and wipe both the table and seats off for us. All floors were filthy with debris and food, and I noticed(multiple) employees eating while on the job(including one of the cooks! - yuck!) The food was also sub par and hands-down the worst I've ever had there. We were sad to see such neglect.

  • Jon B.

The food here is just not very good. The cashier was apathetic, then messed up our order. The manager made it right, but nothing can make up for the just plain not good food. There are too many others nearby that serve tasty Asian food that isn't dry or undercooked.

    (1)
  • Jessica M.

This chain is a quick serve restaurant with Asian entree choices instead of burgers. This alone gets a star. When the theme is made-to-order Asian fusion where the masses ordering are suburbanites with bland palates, one cannot expect Asian perfection. This all being said, a culinary escape to paradise may not await you on your visit BUT there are so many choices at reasonable prices, who cares? Bring the family if you're not in the mood to cook and the kids will enjoy. Try the egg rolls, potstickers, lettuce wraps, wontons - they're all super yummy. I also add some chile sauce, vinegar, or hot mustard that they keep in fun little jars if I don't like exactly how my entrée tastes. Spicy food is always better!

  • Dan H.

In general I love Pei-wei, but not this location. I've ordered to go 3 times since moving to Highlands Ranch 9 months ago and each time something has caused me to wait at least 30 - 45 minutes beyond when they said my food would be ready. The restaurant itself wasn't overly busy so I'm not sure what the problem is, but there were plenty of other people upset about the wait as well last time I went. I plan to skip this location in the future until they get their act together.

  • Kristin S.

I used to frickin' love Pei Wei! The only chinese food I will eat is PF Changs or Pei Wei, but after my last experience, I think I will stick with the big daddy of this restaurant group. I went in for a take out order. It took FOREVER. Ummm, I got take out because I am in a hurry... And they weren't that busy. And the food was very mediocre. Again, not what I remember of this place.

    (2)
  • M K.

Pei Wei in general does a fantastic job. Both the locations at Lowry and at Colorado/Evans have great service, a caring manager and delicious food. NONE of that can be said about this location. The service, at it's best, is fair, the manager has a "who gives a f**k?" attitude and the food is usually not even close to being on par with other locations. I actually got sick one night after eating the sesame chicken here. Do yourself a favor. Go somewhere else, or at least to another location.

This place reminds me of that nursery rhyme about the little girl who had a little curl right in the middle of her forehead... you know, "When she was good, she was very, very good. But when she was bad, she was horrid." When Pei Wei is good, it's very, VERY good. But when it's bad, well, you get the picture. I should start charting the quality of the food here so I can figure out when the good cooks work. Here's the good about Pei Wei: I absolutely love it that you can order anything with vegetables and tofu. It's so rare to find meatless entrees that are actually vegetable-centered, rather than being starchy and cheesy. Their thin-sliced tofu, while it took some getting used to for me, is now one of my favorites and I've tried several times to replicate it at home (with poor to middling results.) Their Kung Pao, Orange Peel, and Sweet & Sour sauces are my top choices and are usually excellent. For an extra $1, you can upgrade to a side of fried rice with your meal-- also usually excellent. Now for the bad: the quality of preparation is pretty inconsistent. I'd say about 20% of the time my meals are so badly done that I don't want to finish. I've ordered the Thai Coconut Curry 3 times and I just don't think I want to risk it again. The first time- totally bland. Second time- so spicy my whole mouth was hurting and lips were stinging... couldn't finish it. (My whole party's dishes were too spicy that day as well, even the fried rice which is usually not spicy at all.) Thought the third time would be the charm but I was wrong- back to bland again. I've also ordered Kung Pao and Sweet & Sour dishes that were dry and burnt. And now for the horrid: they're always running out of tofu! I don't understand how this happens, and I'm sure they'd never run out of their meatful proteins. I complained to corporate about it and they sent me a free meal card, but really I just want them to keep the foods on their menu in stock. Overall: eating here is a crapshoot, but I guess the payoff when it's good is good enough to keep me coming back.

Pei Wei is exactly what you expect it to be - a faster version of PF Changs. It's very consistently yummy.

Maybe I experienced Pei Wei on a bad night. The manfriend and I were craving something rice based and found out there was a Pei Wei just down the road. Everything about the meals we ordered was awful. The portions were teeny tiny, and there was something definitely wrong with the chicken we ate. Both of us felt like crap after we ate, and had not so good mornings stomach wise. The flavors were bland and we ended up throwing away a decent portion of our meals. I guess the only high note is that it wasn't too expensive, so we didn't waste too much money. They may have their ups and downs when it comes to consistency, but when starting out on such a low down, I don't think we'll be heading back.

This place is clean the food is consistently good. It gets very busy here at dinner and lunch so go early or call in your order. I love the honey seared chicken and their lettuce wraps.

I come here WAY too often! (Ok...I could come even more) This is a great place to eat! Yummy Asian food! This is a sister chain to PF Chang's. It is cheaper and they do to-go and ordering on-line! (Huge plus) They have an "ok" gluten free menu. (Chang's is better) Nice place to meet a friend for lunch.

I used to be a fan. I swore by this place. I found out they are now serving sushi!? I was skeptical. Their sushi sucks! I also had asian salad! It was pathetic for a salad!! I make better salads. They no longer sell the coconut curry dish!? I will never return.
