Arrived early for a snowmobile adventure and needed to eat lunch. Drove into the charming town of Leadville and found Cookies with Altitude. They are an independent bakery/ deli. We built our own sandwiches and could not have been more pleased with the quality of the food and service. It is a charming and cozy 2 table dining room where no one is s stranger. Everything is fresh and made to order.

Was actually pretty disappointed by this bakery. We stopped here on the way through to Aspen, and picked up a cookie and a whoopie pie. The cookie was hard, and tasted at least a day old. The whoopie pie stuck so badly to the pan, the girl had to pick it up with a gloved hand and scrape the rest out with a spatula. Needless to say, the whoopie pie crumbled all over when I attempted to eat it.

Great local place that does its thing well. Lots of good options for breakfast sandwiches ... and we had to grab several of the delicious half-price day-old donuts & other pastries. The smoothies are also laudable, made with no syrups and most coming with a nicely balanced mix of fruits and veggies -- that is, one might have kale, but the kale doesn't punch you in the face. Note that I have no experience with their cookies, which seem to be a surprisingly weak spot considering past reviews...

I love this place. The PBville cookie (peanut butter and chocolate) is my favorite, though they all have their charms. They make a solid cup of coffee, fudge, focaccia, cupcakes, but their bagels keep me coming back. It's not easy to bake at this altitude, but baking east coast-worthy bagels at 10,000 feet in Colorado is nothing short of miraculous. Plus, their green chile bagels--a plain bagel topped with green chile and cheese--is a treat you can't even get back east.

They had quite an array of sweet and savory pastries, would have loved to sample more. We tried the doughnut holes which were tasty, but not just-made fresh. Coffee was pretty good - a real mug over a styrofoam cup would have felt cozier. Staff was very friendly. Cute decor with a few seats both inside and out.

For starters, our favorite cookies are dark side surprise, peanut butter and jelly and snapper doodles. You gotta stop in and see whats new! The owner always seems to have new recipes for the day! You might be surprised to find a new cookie recipe, fluffy cupcakes, muffins or bread made from scratch (which is quite an accomplishment at 10,000 feet!). Special orders are always welcome for birthdays, parties, gifts or other special occasions. While in Leadville, we stopped at this local bakery daily to get our cookie fix! Don't pass it up!

My friend and I wanted to try its cookies even after reading reviews. I got 3 double chocolates and My friend got one each of the double chocolate, pumpkin, and ginger. We split a chocolate and the ginger. The ginger was very interesting as it had lots of ginger and tasted like they use fresh ginger. The chocolate was good too. They also have homemade fudge but we did not try. I would not say they are the best cookies I have ever tasted but worth trying. Remember, baking at altitude is different than baking at lower elevations.

We found this place a few years ago after a ski trip, so now whenever we pass through, even on our motorcycles, we make it a point to stop here and grab some cookies! Sunday was our most recent visit. The silver dollar cookies used to be priced at 6 for $5. And in past visits, the employees were SOOO nice and appeared to take an interest in their customers. They would express appreciation to the fact that we were "almost regulars" even though we live 2 hours away. On Sunday, the cookies were 6 for $6, and the case didn't appear to hold as much of a variety. The lone female employee, dressed in Victorian costume to celebrate the last of the Boom Days, appeared as if she didn't care whether we were there or not. In fact, just as I opened my mouth to order, she walked out the door to watch the faux gun battle in the street. Though this gave me more time to contemplate my order, I was put off by her apathy. When she came back in and in a bored tone asked what we wanted, we ordered 2 of each: Chocolate Chip, LT100, and the Snapper Doodle, bypassing our favorite (PB Chocolate Kiss). We ate the Snapper Doodle right away, saving the others for a summit treat on Mt Elbert. We've had the SD in the past, and it had always been good with a good buttery cinnamon flavor. On this day, it didn't taste so fresh and seemed harder than usual - the staleness was disappointing. On a high note, the LT100 and Chocolate Chip were very good and maintained their texture, even though they were eaten the next morning at 14,433ft. The shop is located on the west side of US-24 with street parking. Interior is small but with high ceilings and two little tables by the window. They do sell other baked goods, and in the cooler case they have discounted day-old cupcakes, brownies, etc. All our past experiences with CWA would have warranted it 5*, but this last Sunday's experience forced me to subtract a star. I'm sure it was a fluke, especially with the festival going on, but that's why I know we'll be back. Who knows what an update will bring. And next time, we're getting the PB Chocolate Kiss!

This place is great. I needed a sandwich, but the cookies didn't hurt. Great selection of baked goods, so much fudge, and the sandwich was delicious. It was small, but I liked that, and the lady working there was very nice. Definitely stop by if you're in Leadville.

This used to be the Ugly Cookie Company and the cookies were amazing! I stopped whenever we were through Leadville. We recently made the trek through town and found Cookies with Altitude in the Ugly Cookie Company building. I bought one of each cookie. We sampled them all and threw them all away. The best of all seven was the poppyseed, but still lacking. VERY disappointed and not worth the calories or the money. The cookies were dry and cake-like and some were just plain flavorless!

We always stop to get fudge when in Leadville, but we were a little bummed that our normal stop didn't sell it anymore. Someone then directed us to this place. We tried the Rootbeer Fudge, Cookies and Cream Fudge and the Peanut Butter Fudge. All were delicious! The smallest amount they can sell is 1/4 pound, and they do not give samples. We look forward to our annual stop next year CWA! =)

Great cookies and tasty sweets. We had 5 different cookies - all good. And we had the blueberry cake - that was excellent as well. The owner talked to us for awhile. She was friendly and nice. It's good to support local businesses in such a small town. I recommend stopping by here for dessert if you get a chance in Leadville, CO.

We parked right in front of this place and thought it sounded (& looked) like a perfect place to hit our sweet spot. We ordered 7 cookies (purchase had to be over $5 to use a credit card), almost all different flavors. Some of the cookies we ordered were a little dry and cakey. We tend to like cookies that are more moist, so our favorites were the Snapper Doodle, the Pumpkin Pie and the PB chocolate kiss.
