I was quite disappointed with this restaurant after reading all the rave reviews. The service was slow and the waitress who was cleaning the table confused us on whether we needed to wait for her to clean the table or grab a seat. So we grabbed the two seater in the window across the bar but we didn't have a menu or a waitress to come grab our order. With this confusion, we went up to the hostess to grab menus and she finally explained the set-up of the restaurant. Half of it is a sit down restaurant while the other half is a bar/to-go section. Then she also explained that where we were sitting was part of the bar/to-go section, so thank you hostess for explaining unlike the waitress. You have to place your order with the cashier then wait for your food to arrive. There's no waitresses that wait on you since you pay beforehand. We ordered a cappuccino, which was quite delicious. Not the best I've had, but still better than most. I also loved the flower in the froth! For our main dish, I ordered the crab bennies and my fiancée had the Reuben. It was just ok. The egg wasn't as runny as I usually like my egg yolks. The crab didn't taste fresh, but what can you expect in a landlocked state. Also wish there was a little more sauce because I love having my English muffin soaked with sauce otherwise it's too dry. A side bowl of chili comes with the Reuben. The chili was a tad spicy but I have a sensitive tongue. My fiancée ended up adding more spice to the chili lol. The Reuben was moist and as favorable as a Reuben could be. My fiancée said it was decent but he's had better. Overall, this place was meh. Don't know if we'd be making a return trip anytime soon.

Damn, I'm going to sound like a hipster here buttttt: I liked the place better at the old location and before it became super popular. I miss the small, quaint, and cute French Press off of Union. The rocky chairs, the uneven tables, and the delicious food! Food is still delicious, don't get me wrong. But now it is too packed, too close to everything for everyone. I wanted The French Press to stay one of my local secrets. Ah, hell, great food, great staff, always a good meal and time. Five stars dammit.

My brother is a huge fan of breakfast here (so much so he and my sister in law were the first customers when this new location opened.) My brother and I went in for lunch. There are two sides of the restaurant. On one side you order at the register (more of a grab and go side) and a sit down and be served side. Despite being very busy the food didn't take very long. I ordered a turkey melt and my brother a B.L.A.T. (regular blt with added avocado.) I want to give them a little extra slack because it was their first day. That being said, the sandwiches were not very good. I am a huge fan of grilled onions but it was not working for me on the turkey melt, and I wasn't a huge fan of the avocado or bacon on it either. My brothers sandwich was also just okay. The French fries were really good though. My brother is a huge fan of the breakfast menu and I will have to give their breakfast a try. Based on lunch only, I was disappointed.

My wife and I used to love this place. Almost every Saturday we could come for brunch, enjoy delicious meals and get ridiculously good coffee and teas. Unfortunately, when they moved to the new location (which is almost 4x the size of their previous location) its seems they didn't hire a new staff person for the kitchen or for hosting. Because of this, I have many critiques and comments. I do hope management reads these because they need to change something. They are losing customers. 1. UNNECESSARY WAIT TIMES: Every single time we go, and I mean every single time, we will wait for over 1 hour for our table. And yet, throughout our entire wait time there are empty seats and dirty tables. Could someone please hire a bus-boy?! Seriously, you could have your servers tip-out the bus-boy that way they don't make a dent into your hourly costs to run the business. 2. UNNECESSARY FOOD TIME: It is completely unacceptable for us to wait 45min - 1 hour for our brunch. It doesn't matter how much you are making from scratch. This is foolishness. Your kitchen needs to spend much more time prepping for the day. Additionally, if your kitchen was not built to handle the amount of guests you have and tables you continue to set-up, then stop adding tables. If people are waiting 1hour for their food, it doesn't matter how good it tastes. Build a bigger kitchen, hire more staff, do whatever it takes, but don't waste people's precious time because your kitchen is inept. 3. UNKNOWLEDGABLE STAFF: Almost every time we come in to The Fresh Press, we order two breakfasts, at least two coffees, and usually a pastry. (that's if it's only us. We used to like to bring larger groups but that is out of the question now). However, almost every time we order, the servers fail to bring us silverware. The tables are soaking wet. When we get our coffee we rarely if ever get a stir stick or spoon. On two occasions last month we successfully were delivered all our coffee and food without ever being brought silverware, creamers, napkins, and more. And when asking the server, it takes them upwards of 5 minutes because they have either been poorly trained or their section is way too big. 4. INABILITY TO ACCOMMODATE LARGE PARTIES: A party of 5 is not a large party, but when you bring that many people to eat at The French Press, they are incapable of understanding the parties needs. They struggle to bring tables together. They are terrible at guessing specified wait times. And when you order for a party of 5 or more, it can take up to 20 minutes for your coffees and over 1 hour for your food. This is not Elway's or Del Friscos. 1+ hour waits for food, and 20+ minutes waits for coffee is ridiculous. If you cannot handle larger than four parties, you probably shouldn't be in the restaurant business. Lastly, I am saddened I feel compelled to write this review. We love this restaurant. We love the staff. We love bringing friends from out of town to experience the food and coffee, but it has become too bad to enjoy any longer. This past week many of my friends have asked for other brunch locations that are similar to The French Press, because TPS is no longer an option. It has, unfortunately, gotten to the point that we would rather take our money and time somewhere else because we don't have 2+ hours for brunch. Management, please spend the necessary time, energy, and money on figuring out what kind of a restaurant you want to be, how to train your staff, prepping your kitchen, getting appropriate technology and systems, and hopefully we (and along with many of our friends) will come back. Thank you for your time. I would be inclined to re-evaluate my review if contact by management to discuss my critiques.

There were some pros and cons when we ate brunch here the other day. Cons: 1)They were completely out of Vodka and most of their brunch drinks were made using it. It was pretty disappointing. Somebody should have run to the liquor store down the road, as they were still open for 3 more hours. 2)Their egg sandwiches were very tasty, however with the foccacia bread, the egg got lost in the sandwich. There should've been at least 2 eggs on the sandwich instead of clearly just 1. 3) We waited exactly 20 min, which is what they quoted us, however, for 15 of those minutes, there were 3-4 tables that were never sat with people, and many ppl were standing and waiting. They seemed understaffed. Pros: The atmosphere was nice. The food was very good. Our server was new but she was very personable and friendly. A few minor tweaks and this place would be my new breakfast spot.

Ever since they moved to the new Belmar location, I have to say that the quality of the food has gone down as well as the service. There have been times when we've came in and there are multiple tables that aren't cleaned up yet and would make customers wait for them to clean. At the time, they weren't even busy and had multiple employees just standing by. There have also been a few times that we've been in and the employees would just stand around and go into the back kitchen as they see us coming in, clearly avoiding trying to help us. There are also times when we would get little snotty attitudes from multiple employees. Now there are a few employees that are great, but some that just clearly don't want to be there, and they are always the same ones... Each time we've had breakfast or lunch here, the quality of the food is mediocre. Sometimes things are too salty, sometimes no taste at all. This place is just alright. Not a favorite of mines. I'm not saying I won't ever return back, but it's not a place that I get excited coming to, or recommend to people I know. Only times we decide to come in is because we live close by and want breakfast/lunch in a fair amount of time. Anyone can easily go to any of these nearby breakfast joints, Egg and I, Village Inn, and soon to come, IHOP. Competition is getting high and with the big chain, IHOP opening across the street soon, The French Press better step up on their quality of their food and service.

Got the Black Bean and Quinoa Salad ($8) added chicken for an additional $2. SO. GOOD. Very tasty and the portion size was enormous! I came in hungry and STILL managed to leave with nearly half the salad. Very filling and delicious! My friend got her usual- Lox Benny ($11) . She's a vegetarian and swears by this pick. Portion size is also very generous and the hollandaise sauce is scrumptious! Since The French Press moved to Belmar their overall dining room has gotten much bigger and seating isn't nearly as competitive. That being said... I think they are still trying to get into the groove of handling high volumes of customers in a sit down-dining format which they previous did not have. The set up is a bit confusing- half of it is a sit down menu section and the other half is more like their previous location where customers go up and order/pay and sit down and wait for their food. All in all I'd say it's just a matter of time before they have things running flawlessly. Their food is already there!
(5)Darin H.
The food could have been really good except they clearly don't teach their cooks how to clean their fryer or to use clean pans. First, the potatoes I was given were deep fried, which in itself is faux pas, but to top it off, their fryer was in serious need of being drained and cleaned. My potatoes were absolutely covered in burn bits and it floors me they even made it past the garbage can let alone onto my plate. Second, they were at it again with my crepe. They had clearly been using the same pan over and over without so much as wiping it out; my crepe too was covered in burnt bits. Otherwise, the food had potential had their cooks not ruined it by practising such lazy hygiene. You would think a restaurant of this caliber would have a chef/manager checking food prior to it leaving the kitchen. I'm not sure if go back after that display of 'f the customer'.

Since they have moved to a larger location in Belmar, the food still looks fantastic. I ordered the breakfast burrito, which was huge, full of peppers, eggs and onions. The take out line is on the left. They were packed on a weekend day afternoon. The food took awhile to get ready, luckily I had coffee to drink. And the restaurant smelled like locker room, like people come here after they workout and not shower, I don't get people sometimes. Their menu is extensive, gluten free and vegetarian options available. Many different pancakes and sandwiches. Lots of tables and the wait was about 20 minutes for a table. The food isn't worth the 20 min drive but wait though, I may just stick to this place on weekdays.
(4)Melissa C.
I really am impressed with this little place. The food is exceptional for the price. I can't believe that we spent less than 20 dollars and the food was SO much better than what you'd find for that price for 2 people at most other places. I had the bananas foster French toast, which was YUM YUM in my tum tum. My husband had the BLT sandwich which he said was pretty good. I love the atmosphere - feels like a little bistro, and it's very clean and open. I will definitely be coming back.
(5)Heather D.
The breakfast burritos are outstanding. I was however, completely turned off by the haughty ideal of not doing to go orders on the weekend. I drove all the way from Westminster to get a handful of quite pricey burritos on a Saturday before work and was told they could not help me. There were only three tables in the restaurant that were seated and no one waiting. I am quit dismayed. I will not be returning. It all seemed a bit ridiculous.

It's sad that since they moved to Belmar the service is terrible. We arrived and were in line with 5 other groups when there were about six tables open and already cleaned. Once seated, we waited roughly 45 minutes for our food. During this time, I watched two couples sit at the bar and then leave after not receiving service. We observed seven of the waitstaff standing behind the bar with no sense of urgency or even general courtesy for the patrons. The girl that brought our coffee almost spilled it on my 18 month old's head, and probably would have had I not caught her spilling it all the way to the table and said something. I had to mention the wait to our server since our two little ones were on the verge of melting down. Once I did that, our food arrived in a matter of minutes. While the food is still outstanding, the restaurant management needs a serious lesson in food service.

I don't know Lakewood very well, so I was surprised to learn that The French Press is in the shopping center. It was a happy surprise because we were coming from Target across the street and were hungry. The French Press didn't disappoint. My Sterling's Sweet Biscuits meal at The French Press was one of my favorite breakfasts in awhile. My plate was a lot of deliciousness: a huge chipotle cheddar biscuit covered in chorizo gravy and cheese with eggs and potatoes on the side. I spiced my plate up even more by adding their two hot sauces to my eggs and potatoes; the Serrano garlic hot sauce was especially good. My husband's bananas foster French toast was really good too. All of the plates coming out of the kitchen looked great: breakfast burritos, hashes, pastries. . . . A host station would be helpful because The French Press is deservedly popular and crowded. We'll be back!
(4)Jennifer W.
New location but the same great food! So glad to see that they are open at the new location. I was happy to see the menu hadn't changed much so I could still get my delicious pancakes and vanilla latte! Be sure to come with your patience and don't be in a rush because they are crazy busy. The wait is worth it though if you aren't in a hurry. I would recommend ordering your drink at the to go counter if you have to wait. Then you can enjoy your latte while you wait for your table. It seemed like they were working out some of the kinks in their system as far as keeping track of who was waiting. That's to be expected with them learning the new location and larger space and crowd. I'd like to see them use a text you when your table is ready system. That way you could go and take a stroll around beautiful Belmar while you waited! Anyways...loved it! Will be a regular once again! :-)

This place is awful. Waited 15 minutes for to-go coffee after the hostess refused to seat us at one of the 8 open tables. There was no simple syrup on the bar so we asked for some. The waitress took it, shrugged and walked away. That's all. The restaurant was very dirty in general, I watched a couple being sat at a table that hadn't been wiped down at all and there was food and trash on the floor. Terrible service, generic coffee and food. We wanted so badly to support a local business, but sad to say you're better off at Starbucks. (Ps. I finished writing this review BEFORE we got our to-go burritos, 40 minutes total)
(1)Jessie K.
Delicious food, delicious coffee! Very cute little place. When we first got there on a Sunday around 8am there wasn't much of a line and we got to order rather fast. Food took a bit to get out but it was definitely worth it. The place quickly filled up and the line was quite long. Great spot to try!
(4)Maria T.
The food is tasty. However, came here for brunch and waited over 45 minutes for our food. Hope they improve their food prep process as this place could be a great addition to the Belmar area.
(3)Tom D.
Awesome food and coffee, I have never been let down by the quality and unique tastes. They however are very slow service when busy.
(4)Joey K.
I must say out of all the restaurants in Belmar the French press is the best eatery around! The bennies are the best in town and the crepes are to die for! Those guys in the kitchen must be saints! The coffee, oh my lord the coffee is the nectar of the god's!
(5)Connor G.
A new Saturday brunch destination that I'll be sure to visit again. When the thought of Eggs Benedict passes through my cerebral cortex and into my caudate nucleus there's only one thing that'll satisfy. Luckily for me, the French Press delivers and delivers well. The first thing I loved was the lack of line. For a nice breakfast place around 11am I was expecting at least a 20min wait. The second I walked in I was greeted and seated with a delicious gingerbread iced coffee and a menu in hand. The menu has a great selection for both breakfast and lunch lovers alike. I didn't order it, but there was a breakfast sandwich made between two waffles deep fried in tempura batter and it looked all kinds of 2000+ calories delicious. Maybe I'll try it next time after I run 10 miles to the cafe. I got the lox bennies and it was delicious. Also our waiter Charlie was really nice, super attentive and had our stuff to us asap. If you go there on Saturdays and get waited by him, you're sure to have a great dinning experience. Tip him well!
(4)Rachelle M.
Went back for a 2nd day in a row. Still good but i got the crabbies benny. It was ok. Crab wasnt super fresh and it was a bit dry (bring on the hollandaise sauce please!) Hubster got the huevos rancheros. Again. It was ok. But side orders of bacon and sausage saved it! Going back one last time today before we leave!
(5)Ashley Y.
I used to really enjoy coming here! Now all I get is an eye roll and a quiet "yep" from the barista when I thank her for my coffee. I don't frequent here as much for that reason.
(3)Katie E.
I have such a love hate relationship with this place. It can be sooo great- or it can just miss the mark. Today is an example of when it flopped. I ordered the Huevos Rancheros (asked for it to be gluten-free, which is an option in the menu that says it will come with GF tortillas and GF green chili). It came out with stale chips, no tortillas, cold beans, cold potatoes...the eggs were cooked properly- but it was just disappointing overall. Had everything been hot, I would have given at least 4 stars. Inconsistency is my issue with this place. I do keep coming back chasing those times I've had it be great...
(2)Jeb B.
After a short wait we had table outside. The coffee was smooth and delicious. The chocolate chip scone was "the best ever" said my mom. Fruit was fresh. My vegetarian burrito was pretty good. Big portions.
(4)Doug W.
Firstly, our service was great. Crystal was happy, engaging and made our breakfast memorable. Great food and drink. Can't miss for breakfast.
(5)Kevin G.
They need to hire more people. We had to wait an hour and a half for a table and then another hour for our food. After we ate our waitress messed up our bill and it took another 20 minutes to fix it. The food was cold and disappointing. It's a small place but it has high demand. They need to hire more people to make it a more pleasant experience.
(3)Amber S.
Not sure why a coffee place would close at 3pm... Got here at 2:45 and they had already dumped most of the coffee and were closing everything up. Limited customer service. Pretty sure they didn't care if we spent money at their place or not.
(2)David S.
Wow, you guys weren't joking about the food service taking so long. Was asked is we were in a rush after inquiring about our food after a 40 minute wait. Not worth the wait.
(2)Trang L.
The French Press is my new favorite brunch spot in Denver! I've been to most of the popular breakfast/brunch places (Snooze, Lucile's, Sassafras, Root Down, Jelly Cafe, etc.), and I have to say that this place tops it all. There's two locations, one in Aurora (really small) and one at Bel Mar - I prefer Bel Mar more because it's closer to me and double the size. TIP: It's best to call ahead to see how long the wait is. You can put your number down, walk around, and come back before they call your name. We waited for 40 min which isn't bad for brunch. The Lox Bennies is my favorite! It's served with 2 English muffins, perfectly poached eggs, fresh smoked salmon, capers, tomatoes and hollandaise sauce with crispy potatoes. They do not cheap out on the salmon. So good and fresh! All of only $11. Their French Toast is amazing! I've had the Strawberry and Banana Stuff French Toast. Both are so good, I can't decide on which is my favorite. It comes with two thick slices of French bread filled with mascarpone and fresh fruits. You also get a side of eggs and sausage, bacon or ham. For $8.50 it really fills you up! Yummmm! Only downfall about this place is the service. We waited awhile before we got serve and the food comes out pretty slow. It's worth the wait though!
(4)Laura B.
The food is okay, but not worth waiting 40 minutes for! My mother and I came here for lunch. But we couldn't even have a conversation because the place is just too loud! Felt more like we were in a bar. I wanted to love this place soooo bad! I will come back, maybe this was just an off day.
(2)Jay P.
The French Press has good food accompanied by confused and disorganized service, boring interior, and a myriad of children caused messes. Food is pretty good, I'd say above the chain brunches but a step under the likes of Snooze, Jelly, DJs and others. The interior looks rushed and unthoughtful. It was Sunday brunch but the staff seemed surprised at how busy it was. Saturday and Sunday's are tough for sure but it was like they were caught with their pants down in the alley next to Sancho's. As the morning progressed we noticed the once controlled fire of obliviousness turn into a 5 alarm blaze. Kids throwing food everywhere, children on laps and crawling on the floor; it was a Gymboree. It got 3 stars because the food is decent and the restaurant as a whole has so much potential. If you're on the west side it's definitely worth a try and I bet if you're there earlier on the weekends or anytime on the weekdays the service is probably much better.
(3)Hildy M.
The French press is SO GOOD. Back when it was on Union I used to go there at least once a week for lunch since it was near my work. Their new location is much nicer-- bright and open, although the old location felt more like finding a hidden gem in the otherwise fast-food belt of Lakewood. It's the perfect coffee shop/cafe-- which you don't find too many of in Denver-- you can stop in for just a coffee, or hang out and order food. Low key atmosphere. I've seen it used as a backdrop for people reading solo, business meetings, lunch with friends, and study sessions. The food is fantastic, definitely get the carnitas tacos if they're on the menu.
(5)Cris F.
I am in love with this place. I ate so much here that I had a full on food baby. I tried the 3 cheese Panini with veggie chili. This is one of the only places that I have discovered that has veggie chili. I was like YESSSSS!!! It was delicious. That that is where I should have stopped eating but nooo. I also then ordered the crepe with nutella and ate that entire thing and there you have it FOOD BABY!!!! The food is delish. The prices are good. They also have a great selection of teas and coffees. Also our waitress was super nice. I will definatly be back. Love it.
(5)Chelsey R.
Very happy with this new addition to Belmar. The menu selection is good, price is good and the food portions are good. My only complaint is that they pack you in like sardines. I went with my friend and they sat us so closely in between two other tables. It was uncomfortable squeezing in and out of my seat.
(4)Eric A.
New location, so there were some kinks they needed to work out, including adding a hostess stand, you walk in and aren't quite sure where to go. Good coffee & really fresh food. Nice addition to belmar, and a nice change from the neighborhood Starbucks only coffee scene.
(4)Rachelle H.
First timer here today. I had the strawberry French toast. It comes with two eggs and two slices of bacon. Everything was superb! Even the syrup was different and delicious. My drink of choice was a chilled chia latte it comes with some type of alcohol in it. I can't remember what type but it tasted perfect. Not to weak and not to strong. Staff was friendly and fast.
(5)silvex e.
We had the bagels and lox and my husband had the corned beef hash. It took 15 minutes to wait for a seat. Then it took awhile to get our order in. We waited so long for our food, about 30 minutes, to come out that we nearly walked out. (We're talking eggs here people. They cook fast) The bagels and lox was good but the corned beef and hash looked like it had been sitting under the heat lamp for days. It was hard and the scrambled eggs were also hard. They were both easy orders. Not sure why it took soooooo long. I ordered an orange juice mid meal and had to wait forever to get that too. That may be because it's fresh squeezed, and it was the only thing worth waiting for. I hope they get their kitchen in order because the restaurant and location are beautiful. We won't be back however.
(2)Kelsey A.
My go to place for a good breakfast and great prices. I love the staff too!!! Literally anything on their menu is so delicious and the coffee is always fresh. I miss the old location buuuuut I'm happy they're expanding. Seriously try the biscuits. Or anything in the bakery. Yum!!!!
(5)Jessica W.
Visited some friends in Lakewood and hit up The French Press after our flight in from St. Louis. I enjoyed some seriously delicious huevous rancheros smothered in green chili. So good, so good. Only complaint/suggestion... add some blinds on the right side (assuming your facing the restaurant). We had to switch tables because the sun was coming in so harshly one of our friends couldn't see. It looks like there may be blinds that come down on the entrance side windows, but there wasn't any sun coming in from that side.
(4)Michelle K.
This was the first time I visited The French Press so I'm not sure what the other location looked like or how it ran. However, I felt my visit at the Belmar location went just fine. Our waitress was very friendly and allowed us plenty of time to chat and enjoy our meal. The drip coffee was good and I believe my mother in law enjoyed her cup of tea. The meals themselves were very large, so I would recommend going hungry, sharing a plate or expecting to take home some tasty leftovers. I had the crab cake bennie, which was delicious. My mother in law had the French toast, which she really enjoyed. I liked the full size windows which gave the place a lot of natural light. I would recommend visiting if you want a nice sized brunch or a nice cup of coffee with a friend or two.
(4)Rita F.
I really like how this place is half sit down and half coffee house! They have absolutely delicious lattes, their bean is fantastic. They have a great menu and so many vegetarian options. The staff is always so kind and it is a great atmosphere.
(4)T. L.
We love this place. We recently moved from Park Hill to Lakewood. Sadly Lakewood has no great breakfast places beyond average diners - except for The French Press. The staff is great and the food is great. The only complaint is that it is always busy, but that's a good problem for them.
(5)Kelly W.
The French Press is BY FAR the BEST place for breakfast and lunch in Lakewood/Belmar area. If you're looking for a great value, try the breakfast Sammie on their homemade rosemary focaccia bread. I love all their "bennies" and their salads with house made dressings are so yummy. We always try to sit in Crystal's section because she is simply the greatest!
(5)Shelby C.
First time here! My boyfriend and I split the Croque Madame with fries and it was absolutely delicious! Staff very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be coming back again soon!
(4)Steven A.
For being a place named after a method of making coffee, you would think their coffee would be top notch. This place seems to have a good food selection, but it's not named "Place for Brunch" it's named French press. It took waiting a while to get noticed at the coffee bar, the employees seemed to be too busy with food orders. I was highly disappointed with the vanilla latte I received. It tasted like an ash tray soaked in vanilla. Being near the Denver coffee scene, there are WAY better options out there. For some reason Belmar hasn't had a legit coffee shop, the other one nearby is mostly a tea place. Maybe I'lll try it again if this place bought better beans and trained their staff on how to pull good shots of espresso.
(1)Hilary H.
This place was fabulous! We were told that the wait was going to be an hour but we got in at 30 minutes. Not bad for a holiday. The hostess also took my phone number and called us when our table was ready so we were able to stroll around the shops while we waited. Everything that we ordered was DELICIOUS: Huevos Rancheros, Veggie Bennie & kids pancakes with bacon. Deena was our server. She was friendly & attentive. The food was out very quickly. We will definitely visit this place again.
(5)Lisa O.
For those that loved the French Press before, they will love it again. At the old location it felt like Hunger Games to get a table. Now with the split between the sit-down and coffee house, it make life so much easier. For those that reviewed this place as having a boring interior they should have gone to the other location on Simms, that was a freaking hole. Clean and stuff, but a hole. I would much rather have a boring interior than a potholed parking lot and tiny eating space. So bah humbug to those that judged this place so harshly. The food tasts exactly the same, which is the best thing ever. Get the bennies... any of them... they are awesome. The other stuff is really good too, I never have a hard time finding something to eat that I enjoy. Oh and service was great, so was the coffee; again bah humbug to the not-amazing reviews.
(5)Ryan H.
Just as good as the old location but even better. So much more room, a few new things on the menu and everything looks great as usual. My favorites are the Breakfast Burrito, Omelet, All American, Huevos Rancheros, Little Frankie (isn't little), and Bennies. I did get inspired to try one of their sandwiches one day. I got the turkey melt and I don't know. They put way too much caramelized onion on there. Plus there has always been something I just don't like about their caramelized onion. Regardless. The food is amazing!

The addition of this top-notch establishment, within the Belmar shopping district, has been a HUGE BONUS!! I work within Belmar and I am HOOKED! I do not eat meat so, for those fellow veg-heads, I highly recommend the veggie hash, huevos rancheros, veggie bennie and....drum roll please....the veggie reuben (out of this world!!). The coffee ROCKS and so do the Almond Joy Scones (to die for!!). I can't forget to give a shout out to the staff....EVERYONE I have come in contact with has been more than nice and accommodating. A GINORMOUS THUMBS-UP from this patron!! Keep up the GREAT work, FP, I'll be baaaaack!!

I love this place when it was at the old location. Probably still great food but the service was the worst. 2 hostesses were standing at the host stand and didn't even acknowledge we were there for a few min. We ordered drinks and they were discontinuing them so the refrigerator was off where they were kept, so she gave them to us for no charge since they were warm. I ordered tacos and my friend ordered a turkey sandwich, it took over 35min from the time she placed our order to the time our food came, we had to go back to work so I asked for a box as soon as our food came, not once were we apologized for the long ticket time nor was it busy, the restaurant was about half full with a few tables outside all of which were mostly tables just sitting after their meals for awhile. I have recommend this place so many times to people but unfortunately will not unless service changes, I will be happy to write another review if the situation is rectified. I hope this place didn't get too big too fast, I really loved french press for the quality service and food and beverage, this was just an unpleasant visit.

Exceptional food! But we waited for 45 minutes to an hour after we ordered on a Tuesday! Maybe we caught them on a bad day but I would hate to be at this place on a weekend

I've gone here a few times and I love their Reuben sandwich. The price is right and the service is attentive.

Went here for the first time and will never come back. To start, our food sat in the window for a quite a while (I could see the window from where I was sitting). I ordered a yogurt parfait that ended up consisting of stale granola and bad fruit. I was like whatever and tried something else. Round 2, I ordered a side of potatoes and an English muffin (only received half of a muffin, what a rip off!) that was nicely served on a very dirty plate. I asked to speak to a manager and showed her the dried crusted food all over the rim of the plate. She said "oh sorry about that our cooks must have switched food from that plate and forgot about it." So basically they practice cross contamination in their restaurant which is a major health violation. I was offered a free entree on my next visit. Next visit? Um thanks but I'll pass! There are much better breakfast places out there. Go else where!

EXCELLENT CREPES!! I am vegan so crepes without eggs - jist veggies - OK, I cheat with the crepes, but don't add eggs!

Great atmosphere, good coffee, green chili is not very good lacks flavor. Service is very slow. Average time waiting for food is at least 25 min. Prices are good.

This was the first time I'd been to the new location since they moved from that strip mall across from the hospital. The menu has some new things, but still most of my favorites. Their breakfast fare is still the bomb and they still have their baker cranking out those fresh pastries. This location is much, much bigger and has a sit down bar area, too. I saw the owners and we chatted for a bit about the move. They are looking at doing a dinner service in the future. It was 9:30AM on a Tuesday, and the place was fairly busy, but not packed. I hope they keep doing well.

Super disappointing. Walked into the new location for the first time after waiting awhile after its opening to give it some time to work out opening kinks. We walked in (observed the open seats at the bar , and the 2 people outside waiting) we said " 2 please , we don't mind sitting at the bar." Waitress said there is a 40 min wait. Confused a bit because there was no one waiting , asked if could just order to go. She said " sure other side." Then walked away. We tried to order at the counter waited about 5 min to be greeted then finally were helped . I ordered an Americano and asked for simple syrup the woman said I could do it my self at the counter I said sure. After receiving my coffee I walked over to the counter NO SIMPLE SYRUP, so I kindly asked for some the woman said sure grabbed it from me put it down and walked to the other side of the restaurant never returning. After I watched this I kindly asked Someone else who said " it's just sugar and water just grab some sugar." Then walked away. WHAT!! Being from L.A I know all about waiting around on a Sunday but this is Denver ,there was no one waiting anywhere, and 8 employees just on this side of the restaurant. The wait is ridiculous , the customer service is terrible. I don't think I've ever been so ignored in a coffee shop in my life. never going back despite the decent coffee. Sorry not worth the rudeness.

So far I have been here twice with my husband and two kids and I have not been disappointed, their food is so good. My husband got the little frankie. I think it was called. Omg to die for. I am a benedicts fan and have had the lox and the crab benedicts. So far I love the lox. They make a great cup of joe also. Zebra mocha, yummy. I am disappointed they dont have a kids menu. So I will take a poont away. Having two kids, that is a plus. But there pancakes were GF and I was nervous the kids wouldnt like them. Wow they taste good. The cinnamon and sugar butter is perfect as well as the graham cracker syrup. Anyway too much here already. So good. Love.

I have not had anything bad here. All the food and specialty coffee is amazing. Staff is friendly. It does get super busy there, and the wait can be long. There is outdoor seating weather permitting. My all time favorite is the zucchini and pistachio pancakes.
(5)Rolando M.
The staff is great and friendly. The food is delicious. My daughter had the strawberry French toast, my wife had the chorizo burrito, and I had the bennie (eggs Benedict). You get a lot of food for your buck. Their coffee was good as well, we noticed they had mimosa's as we were leaving. Very comfortable atmosphere.

The French Press is the best breakfast restaurant that I've been to in a long time! The price is reasonable for the amount of food you get!!
(5)Tearny C.
Best brunch in town!! This is my favorite spot to come for breakfast. I went to the old location and now the new. I think the food is amazing, coffee and drinks are good. Staff is friendly and attentive. Love the crepes, bennies, b.l.a.t, can't remember the name, but a breakfast sandwich topped with an egg...can't explain it here..but you must try it!!!

Meet some friends there for lunch. I ordered a turkey melt, no avocados, fries on the side. The description on the board said, Turkey, Lettuce, Caramelized Onions, Avocado and cheddar cheese. 35 mins go by and my friends have to get back to work, I go inside and let the cashier know to make my order to go now, he said no problem. I go back outside 10 mins go by and a waitress comes over and said, sorry your order is taken so long we didn't know what you wanted as a side. I said fries. Okay we will have that right out for your, and for your patience the manager wanted to give you a free meal on us. I said it was not necessary but insisted I take the voucher. My order arrives, I look at it and it's covered in Avocados & Tomato's, by this time it's 1250, I need to get back to work, I go in and say it's the wrong sandwich, the male guy who I believe is the manager "Sisco" was not pleasant to deal with, I asked for my money back, he rolled his eyes at me and said the card has been credited. I left pissed off and even returned the free meal voucher. Never again will I step foot in there. First of all, the receipt had all of correct order on it, why couldn't they find my side order on it, it was printed on the receipt. Second, why would you put Avocado's on a sandwich when the receipt said NO AVOCADO, and why would you put tomato's on a sandwich whens it's not on the description. READ PEOPLE READ!

I have been there twice now. Both times the food has been fantastic! I want to go back very soon again because there are so many things on the menu I want to try! The three cheese panini was delightful, the strawberry French toast was delicious, breakfast burrito was so good, and the crepe was quite tasty!
(5)Carly F.
The food here is amazing!! The bennies on the menu are crazy good. I got the carnitas bennies and finished it real quick! The waffles are great and it comes with a cinnamon butter to spread. The teas are also very good i recommend the green tea thin mint. It is delicious! Go here and try food.

The wait was a little long but worth it! The Benedict was amazing! I ordered asparagus instead of potatoes and there was still more than I could eat! We always make the drive and wait for Snooze but this place is just as good. The mimosa was great but I would steer away from the Bellini. It was full of syrup and way to sweet and artificial tasting. The bacon in the American is thick and tasty. My boyfriend was silent when eating it because he was savor ting the taste! Yum! Wait staff and hostess are friendly and kind!

New, Fresh and very tasty! ! Giant cups of coffee and service was top notch. It's Great to have a new modern coffee and breakfast spot at Belmar!!
(5)Justine B.
Great food, great atmosphere and pleasant staff! Love that it's so close to home. :) Definitely will be a regular at this place.

Been to this place twice, once at the Union location and once at the new Bel-Mar location. The coffee is very good, I generally get a black americano, I think that allows me to decipher good coffee since I don't cover it up with milk or sugar. I've had the chicken and arugula and the black bean quinoa salad. The prices are reasonable and the food is not overly seasoned or under seasoned. The only way I would give this place 5 stars if if they would take it a step farther and source local organic meats and produce when possible. Unless they do and just don't market it. They go as far to have organic coffee, but organic produce and meat is far more important for consumption than coffee. I'll probably still go here just won't be as often as I would if they charged a couple more bucks and upped the food quality. Still a good place though.

If you're in the mood for a quick cup of joe, there's a Starbucks across the parking lot. If you don't have to be anywhere soon, like a meeting or work, then the coffee is good and the people are nice.

Highly recommend!! My wife Karen and I live in Belmar and are so happy The French Press Bakery and Cafe is now our neighbor. Stopped in for breakfast again this week and tried the corned beef hash with scrambled eggs. Needless to say I was suitably impressed. A homemade version like you've never experienced before. Karen had french toast which is prepared with their unique spin and she was very pleased. She ordered a blueberry scone to go for her lunch and reported it to also be very good. We will be regulars!
(5)Debra B.
Out of crepes! Out of iced coffee... Dirty booth, dirty salt and pepper shakers. Filthy window sills. I had high hopes for French Press. Very disappointed in the cleanliness, the service and the quality of the food. Won't be here long I'm afraid.

We loved this place. We went on a week day morning because we had a coupon that wasn't good for weekends. It was pretty full but the waitress was great, the food arrived quickly, and the tea and coffee were delicious. They do loose leaf tea in a pour over contraption and it was very flavorful. I had veggie hash which had loads of flavors, different veggies, and eggs. My husband liked the breakfast burrito but it doesn't have the moat of green chili like we're used to. Our son ordered an egg sandwich, which can be customized however you want. The only drawbacks were that 2 of 3 pancake flavors were gluten free, and you'd think you could expect regular pancakes. Also there is no kid menu, no kid size drink, no sign that they expect or welcome children. Not that every place needs the tired kid options of pancake smiley, etc, but a few options for small plates would be nice. All told our bill was about 30 before the coupon so I can't complain about the cost of ordering a full meal for him. We'll be back soon.

I worked in a very popular high volume breakfast place in Denver for about a year and frankly if food makes me feel sick, I won't eat it. French Press kicks ass, I love it!! Best breakfast in Denver, diverse menu, quality service, great coffee. I just love it. Its basically the only place I care to visit, and the only place I'd take my family to breakfast when they visit. Best. Love.

Great coffee, great breakfast food. The breakfast burrito is awesome! So is the french pressed coffee. Haven't been able to try lunch here yet, but I'm sure it's good.

I really enjoyed this new restaurant in Lakewood. The food was DELICIOUS! The service wasn't quite the best. I was a little confused whether we just go and sit down or if someone seats us, so we sat and somebody didn't come over for about 5 minutes. We went up and asked them. But they were also SUPER busy because it was opening day. The food was still amazing. And I would totally recommend this place to friends. The french fries are probably the best I've had in awhile.
(4)Alan M.
When this place opened, I had regular dreams of waking up on a summer morning and having a local quality, hip, breakfast cafe. Then the wonderful French Press moved into Belmar. The staff have always been friendly, interested and engaging. The food is interesting and often excellent. Portions are large. Went here with my Ma and had excellent service from Crystal!

This place is so relaxing they have outdoor seating and you get to bring your dog to hangout on patio enjoy a nice cup of coffee and a pastry. We come here quite often I love a few blocks away and walk my dogs in ever morning and do this well worth it.!!! The mochas are great too

Nice spot for brunch in Bel Mar. I live in Denver, however, and there are better spots in town (Snooze, Olive & Finch, Root Down) and wouldn't make a special trip to go here. One oddity is that they call it the French Press but they serve regular drip coffee. Who does that?
(3)John R.
After exploring the menu online I was disappointed it took me so long to pay The French Press a visit. I had the Sterlings sweet biscuits, a great take on an old classic, biscuits and gravy. You've got two ample sized chipotle cheddar biscuits covered with a chorizo gravy, 2 eggs and potatoes. Awesome! The biscuits have a cool reddish color to them and are delicious. My wife had the gluten free peach cobbler pancakes, they were also delicious. It is typically very hard to find places we can both dine at due to her gluten allergy so it's nice to see another option we can both enjoy. With other options like the Guinness corned beef hash, breakfast burrito, pork carnitas eggs Benedict, etc etc yet to try, we will definitely be back. Great job taking risks and changing up some old classics. Our server was on point, the patio and restaurant were clean and well decorated, no issues at all with this fine establishment.

Ok first off...the FOOD is amazing. Like for real. So good. Zuchinni pancakes, almond berry french toast, chorizo gravy over cheddar biscuits. Seriously. The food is so so good. So good, in fact, that I consistently put myself through the pain of what I consider to be poor service. So here's a list of what I would LOVE to see happen here: * Smile once in a while y'all! On the reals. When a customer walks in, SMILE!! Make them feel like you are happy to see them! * Please treat kiddos like they are people too. Don't roll your eyes at me when I tell you we will have three kids at breakfast. They like your pancakes too! * Please, please, get more high chairs or slings or something. I have one kiddo myself, but when friends have joined with a kid, it would be nice not to be told "sorry, we don't really have a lot of high chairs" and then force us to choose which kid gets to sit in the one you have provided. * Maybe get another cook? A couple extra servers? It usually takes anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour (yes an hour) to get our food after ordering, no matter what size our group is. * You know that section outside designated for the cafe side? When it's busy, it might help to open up this section for table service. Or at least TELL people before you seat them there that it's not a table that a server will attend to you so that you aren't sitting there waiting like a fool and wondering why all the other tables are getting waited on. Ok, that's it. For now. But those cheddar biscuits and chorizo gravy. OMG.
(3)Michael P.
Still a nice place but service has gotten really bad! Over 45 minutes from time of order to food. Add that to the 30 minute table wait and suddenly it's a 2 hour visit. Management take notice!
(3)Emma Nayiri P.
My friends talked this place up so I had high expectations going in.. Maybe that was the problem. I ordered the crepes and initially the waitress said she thinks they may be out.. How can you be out of crepes? So they're not fresh? I had turkey with cheddar and avocados. The best way I can describe it as would be... Fuel. It just filled me up, nothing special, nothing I would ever crave. The service was pretty good and our waiter was on top of it, that was the best part.
(2)Natalya S.
Nice room, lots of choice on where to sit. Seating options outdoor available. Came here Monday morning (Labor Day) at 9:30, got seated right away. Waited around 40 minutes for our food. Prices are very reasonable and the food was delicious!

I'll start off by saying how much it pains me to give a 1 star review ...I would much rather be super excited about some fun yelp journey that I can write about - Unfortunately that was not today ... My friend and were starved after a workout and she suggested this little place ...It was busy when we got there so I was optimistic !! We start looking over the menu and the waitress comes by ..I order the BLAT and a side salad - My friend asks for a crepe with fresh fruit ...Only issue is they are out of them and they don't have "fresh fruit" and the waitress explains that we don't really want the raspberries because they are frozen...weird ...this is a breakfast place ...Ok So she gets the French toast and a banana (I guess they have that) Almost 50 minutes later and a questioning where our food is ....it comes ... My BLAT was soggy with one tiny piece of avocado and my friends french toast had no banana ... We call the waitress over to ask about the missing avocado and banana ... she did not seem happy .... Hey it's not our fault that our order was not complete ! Both meals were equally not very good ... At this point we were so bummed and just wanted the check .... The waitress did give us half off our meals because they were so late ... Then I heard another guy at another table ordering and overheard this same waitress tell him they were out of bacon.... How is a breakfast place out of breakfast!!!!! I'm must say my friend and I are both in the service industry and I felt like today we did not get the service we deserved ...being paying patrons ... The waitress made us too uncomfortable to say how she made us feel and I'm not sure she would care anyway ...who knows Her attitude could've made this bad food experience better....going an extra mile to try and be nice ...Either way this town is full of amazing places to eat where I feel great about my purchase ... This place is just not for me -

I love this place! It's got a cool vibe wether you choose to sit inside or outside. It's pretty busy inside. I suggest seating by the counter. Or the cute little nook that I just adore. It's to the left of the door as you walk in. Get your caffeine on. Or pick up some smoothies. Spend some sweet time in this warm looking place. Check out the inside. You will find the usual laptop lovers. Or stake your place outside and people watch. Either way drop by and enjoy this great place. I heard that their coffee is pretty stiff :) someone is a fan.

I had high hopes for this location of the French Press after being dazzled by the one in Aurora. Sadly, our experiences weren't even comparable. We placed a to-go order and were told it'd be about half an hour. That's fine, as we live about 15 minutes away. If this experience would have been like the ones we had at the French Press in Aurora, it would have been SO worth it. We headed over, got the food (after searching for a bit for parking) and took it home. My zucchini pistachio pancakes, which were AMAZING at the Aurora location, were pretty terrible. I had my boyfriend taste them and he remarked that they just tasted like plain pancakes - nothing zucchini or pistachio about them. And they weren't even sweet or flavorful like normal pancakes might be. Just bland. To make matters worse, they didn't come with any butter. The menu says they come with honey butter, which would have at least made them edible. The eggs and bacon were fine, but my pancakes were awful. The Aurora location isn't close to us in any way, but you better believe we'd go there before returning here. Such a big disappointment.
