This place has been around for a long time, I know because my wife Erica used to work here in high school and she's old as dirt. :) On to the food, I love the biscuits and gravy here. The wife and kids always seem to change what they get but none of them have ever been disappointed. I have not had any of the lunch items but the "Breakfast Is On Fire."

Found this place on Yelp while taking my mom to Kaiser. On first impression, the place seemed a little old in decor. The staff was very friendly though, and the place looked clean. I ordered the 1/2 country sunrise and coffee. Service was quick, coffee was decent. My breakfast was very yummy. I would eat here again, I gave it 3 stars because of the decor and prices which I thought was a little high.
(3)Zac T.
The food is awesome, and its a great place to take friends who are visiting denver!
(5)Ryan B.
Their food is the typical breakfast food but it is way over priced for what you get. The atmosphere in the diner is also lacking. The staff is likable. But the negatives definitely out way what little positive they have to offer.
(2)Randy B.
Wow! Get the famous cheeseburger. The Top Of The Rockies! Just wonderful. It has been one of my favorites for 15 years.
(5)Donny C.
Great place for breakfast. I went there with a group and hey were warm and welcoming. No problem substituting things we wanted changed on our meals. My friend is also gluten free and they had plenty of gluten free options for her, including delicious gluten free bread... Even I liked it. A little expensive and feels a little dirty, but great food.

Sunrise benedict is great. Very wholesome small-town diner feel. Good service. Not cheap but reasonable. I love that they give you an entire pitcher of water and an entire pitcher of coffee: i hate running out of beverage. Critiscism: bar counter is so low it puts my knees around my ears. Stick to the tables and booths.
(4)Jeremy C.
I stopped by here and tried the lumbre burrito, with Italian sausage and jalapeño. What I got was an omelette wrapped in a tortilla. With pickled jalapeño. Classy. Truck stop classy. The sauce was vegetarian green chile with too much cumin. The dish included some home fries, the same kind you can get in the grocery store on the frozen food aisle. This place obviously caters to a different crowd of people than I belong to. Because I have taste buds.
(1)Ryan H.
This place has great food and great service. It has a cool dinery feel. 1 star off for not having a "bar" diner counter for solo patrons and 1 star off for not having any alcohol. Must have bloody marys for this guy!
(3)James R.
This is the only place that serves a killer corn beef breakfast. Strips and chunks of corn beef with potatoes onions and green peppers. Not like the topical corn beef hash that comes out of a can like most other places serve.
(5)Bill D.
Breakfast is good, only have had eggs and such. Fast, friendly service

I would give zero stars if I could. Just came in for breakfast with my husband, we were seated and waited over 10 minutes while every waitress in the place walked by and not one acknowledged us which left us to leave. I could understand if they were busy as I've been a waitress and understand how it can get, but this place was not busy and every waitress made eye contact with me at least once. Definitely taking my money elsewhere!
(1)Shari N.
The parking lot was packed so we were excited to go in. We were immediately seated which was nice. We ordered and things started to go down hill. It took about 30 minutes to get our food which then wasn't very good at all. I ordered biscuits and gravy my husband ordered the basic breakfast and the potatoes were completely under done. The gravy was runny and bland. Unfortunately we will not be returning. We don't expect a song and dance from waiters but acknowledgement of something going wrong is always nice.
(2)Jeremy C.
Great service and wonderful food. It does get busy on the weekends but it is just a testament as to how many people love this place. Can't say enough about it, and since the Le Peep on Alameda closed this has been the new favorite breakfast spot.
(4)Jaya J.
This used to be our go to place and I still love the food. Why am I giving this place one star then? Well I would like to give it 4 stars because the food is delicious but customer service? Or rather I should say the attitude towards customer preference is very strange. They REFUSE to sub green chili instead of gravy. It so arbitrary and unnecessary. Anyways they will charge you 3 dollars to then bring a teeny tiny scoop on the side. They even refuse to actually pour it on your eggs. This is Denver. Home of green chili ! It is a bit outrageous don't you think? So disappointed in this weird policy, seems like they just don't care what you want to eat, they will only give you what they want you to eat! Please change your policy SS- it's not a good one.

Great Breakfast joint, hands down! Atmosphere was a little "truckstop" but not too bad. Waitress was awesome, didn't rush us and seemed to come at all the right times despite the booming breakfast rush. Ordered the cornbeef hash in the burrito style, which was a nice twist. Covered in county gravey and served with a good portion of breakfast potatoes (see picture). Very delicious and fresh. The girlfriend got the veggie eggs Benedict. Had a bite of hers and decided it was on par with my burrito. Good price, quick to get the check and out the door. Tell you what, next time I'm in the area you best believe I'm hitting this place up again!

I've been to this location as well as the one on Garrison and 6th several times. It can be hit or miss regarding the flavor, but generally speaking I've had some flavor explosions happen in my mouth from some of the dishes here. Mushroom lovers should indulge in the Sunbuttons. The french toast is thick and crisp. I tried the black bean benedict on my last visit and that was delicious also. The coffee is okay, not stellar. They have some great dishes and I'll continue to come here with my loved ones.
(4)Bill T.
I had the Sunshine Skillet. I was very disappointed with the entire experience. The potatoes in the skillet were on the verge of being raw. Very little browning and NO seasoning. Come on break out a little salt and pepper. My eggs were to be over easy and they were over cooked so the yolks were hard. The eggs also had no seasoning on them. I think they used to give you a couple pancakes but not now.I spent $15 by the time I left. Very expensive. I could have gone to Village Inn and got out for under $10 for the same thing.
(2)Tres B.
Horriffic service, we asked frora few moments to consider what to order and had to wait twnety mnutes before uhutning down the waitress. To no apologies, our orders were taken and the meal itself was average at best. Other tables came and went while we waited. And waited. And waited. Other tables got pitchers of water and coffee. We got empty cups. No, I wont be back. Helllllllllllo Breakfast King!!!
(2)Margaret M.
This is a great place to grab a tasty diner style breakfast or lunch. It's a little off the beaten path if you, but if you are in the Lakewood area definitely stop in. I had a delicious plate of lumberjack sized pancakes which were fluffy & buttery (just how I like them), the hus had a Spanish scramble of sorts and my dad opted for the burger which was ginormous (yes that's a word). Best part was that the service was top notch, and for a small diner like this it really makes all the difference.
(4)Jay P.
It's not very good. My girlfriend describes it as fat people food, greasy and tasteless. The service is inexperienced and there just wasn't anything impressive about the meal. There is a decent amount of menu options but the three items we ordered just weren't very good. Also, they don't poach eggs, what the hell kind of breakfast place doesn't poach eggs?! I'm not going back.
(2)Ian H.
Their omelettes and pancakes are the absolute best. I'd heard their commercials on the radio for years but didn't try them until a few months ago. Since then I've been there practically every weekend for breakfast! Service can be a little slow sometimes if they're busy, but really what would you expect from a casual breakfast place? The food is worth the wait and staff is always friendly!
(4)Catherine M.
This is by far the best place for breakfast in Lakewood! Maybe even colorado. I don't go anywhere else for breakfast ever! Nichole remembers our order and drinks and everything every time we come in. She is wonderful and we don't sit with anyone else!
(5)Jenny S.
This is, hands down, our favorite breakfast spot. They are only open until 2 pm every day and serve breakfast the entire time. They also have a lunch menu with burgers, chicken sandwiches and a few other lunch items. The staff has gotten to know us over the years and always make us feel welcome. Our favorite waitresses even know our standard orders (although we do occasionally deviate). This place is nothing fancy but feels clean and they recently did a little renovating and re-arranging (Wadsworth location). The food is always good. I am not even sure we have ever had to send anything back to the kitchen for being cooked wrong. I love the green chili (not too spicy but tasty AND vegetarian). I also love the hollandaise sauce. I only let myself get it for my birthday breakfast -- too decadent! The breakfast potatoes are not fried so they do not come to you all greasy which I appreciate from a health perspective. They are sometimes fussy about things. I am gluten free and have on several occasions asked for my eggs benedict to be served on the potatoes that normally come on the side instead of the English muffin. They won't do it and I don't understand why because I am not asking for anything more to be added to the plate, I am just asking for the potatoes to be put under my eggs instead of next to them. Note: They do offer Udi's gluten free bread as a substitution for the standard English muffin that comes with most breakfasts. There is a small up-charge but anyone that eats gluten free is used to that. Also, the scrambled eggs are not gluten free so order fresh eggs scrambled if you need gluten free eggs. Also, we only come to the Wadsworth store. We have tried their other two locations and have found that the food and service just isn't as good. Luckily the Wadsworth location is the closest one to us so it is okay.

I loved it! From the coffee to my Enchiladas Sunshine. I will be back, I do recommend.
(4)Jake W.
Great Breakfast here. Try the homemade corn beef hash and the pancakes. The waitress was also super sweet and very pleasant.
(4)Albert H.
I can't get past the home fries. They're identical to the frozen ones from the store, with no character, not a trace of homemade quality to them, and they darn near come with every entree. I just can't understand why they have so many other creative and interesting breakfast entrees (various Benedicts & enchiladas, burritos, etc.) yet still go with these uninspiring home fries. Nor is there the option to go with traditional hash browns instead of the home fries. Service was friendly but on both visits it seemed like nobody was really happy to be working there. It's not that hard to smile once and awhile. Benedicts were very good, as was the breakfast enchiladas. Coffee is alright. Liked their hot sauce offerings too. Just... just... they need home fries reform.
(3)Christopher K.
Sunrise-Sunset is a classic diner with a little bit of modern flare. You're going to get your standard issue vinyl table cloth, rather weak but bottomless coffee, and menu filled with omelettes and french toast. This place shines based on the quality of the food. I had the corned beef hash which was excellently prepared with tender meat and flavorful gravy. This place doesn't mess around with their spices. Counter intuitively, the green habanero hot sauce is not very spicy while their cayenne hot sauce will cause you to sweat with just a couple drops.
(4)Jessica M.
The only thing good about this place was the waitress. The food was horrible, cold and made my husband's stomach upset. The owner was there and didn't even make eye contact with us. Felt really outta place. The prices were ridiculous! Never going back again!
(1)Jennifer H.
Great food. Real hash!!
(5)Jennifer H.
I was a tad nervous because I heard the waitress mention to someone else that the oatmeal was the microwave stuff. But I ordered the sunshine skillet and it was amazing. Everything was 100% fresh. You could tell the potatoes weren't frozen, you could tell the sausage was good quality and hand cut into rounds, everything was just amazing. I was expecting the quality of food that you get at Denny's and this was just so much better. On top of that the waitress was extremely cordial, and it seemed like it only took minutes from ordering for her bring me my meal. I was extremely impressed.
(5)Brock M.
Came back to try again and was blown away. Great food, service and enjoyed everything. Glad to have my opinion changed.
(4)Jina C.
This is a hole-in-the-wall kind of a diner. It has a small town feel b/c of the friendliness of the staff. The interior is typical of a low key diner. The simple tables with checkered tablecloths with plastic-y vinyl chairs. The menu is very intense...there are TONS of options-mostly to do with some sort of an egg dish. skillet style to benedicts. We ordered the Lumbre scrambled and the Lumbre burrito. The Scrambled- was ehhh...less eggs and more cheese. It didn't taste as hearty as the Lumbre Breakfast burrito. The burrito is HUMONGOUS and probably can be shared by two people unless you are starving. The green chili in these two dishes really make the dishes taste pretty awesome. I would also recommend the Black Bean Benedict- go try it!
(4)Ang H.
Overpriced. Okay breakfast food. Atmosphere was blah. Probably won't be back even though it's very close to my house.
(2)Charles D.
There are no substitutions allowed, is that because the cooks can't read English? Probably. To me this is simply unacceptable. A restaurants cook should be it's pride and not be a labor issue. How proud are you of your food when the people you hire are just an expense. It's obvious they are not in the restaurant business, but are in the pile of money business. Not only that, but they are considerably more expensive than what the food is and neighborhood considered.
(3)Kendra L.
While I do enjoy my visits to the bright colored all night breakfast diners, Sunrise Sunset gets the medal for favorite nearby daytime breakfast place. It has a hint of old diner feel to mix with the energy of grandma's kitchen. The food has been decent every time I've gone (I typically order a version of egg-substitute omelet & veggies - I recommend the Spinach Spanish Omelet -YUM!). The breakfast potatoes are oh so close to being my favorite in the Denver area. Sunday mornings include an expected, yet bearable wait (I have not yet eaten my arm waiting for a table). The service has always been decent... even through our slightly obnoxious after-night-out brunch laughter. I look forward to the mornings that result in this sunshiny little breakfast corner.
(4)D H.
Lumbre Sunshine That is all you need to know. This is our go to breakfast destination. Great food, no, I mean really great food and the wait staff are really good also. They have a couple of locations and the quality is the same at all of them. Try it you will not be disappointed
(3)Rachel M.
There are lots of great diners around town. Amazing places for breakfast. I don't think Sunrise, Sunset is one of them. I could taste freezer burn on my potatoes, and the sausage in my breakfast burrito was hardly cooked. Pancakes I've had there another time had a chemically twang that couldn't be covered with syrup. Even the water tasted weird! I'm a sucker for breakfast, and it doesn't take a lot to win me over, but I wouldn't recommend this place at all. Service was friendly and prompt, and it seemed to accommodate large groups well.
(2)J K.
The absolute best breakfast place I have ever been to...ever. Superb food, superb staff, and just a pleasure to go to. Best breakfast ever, every single time.
(5)mike g.
Sorry to say it but this place sucks. There was nothing special about this "restaurant". eggs=cooked wrong, toast was soggy, atmosphere was dirty and loud. Overpriced for quality. More or less the inside and food reflects how it looks like on the outside. A dump. Stay away.
(1)Lacey M.
Sunrise, Sunset has been my favorite breakfast for several months now for several different reasons. Not only is it close to home, but it's quick, delicious, and reasonably priced. Plus, the menu has a great variety of breakfast fare: biscuits and gravy, omelets, skillets, benedicts, pancakes, and several Mexican inspired dishes. My husband and I have been there dozens of times and the food is consistent and hot every time. We have only had 1 somewhat average experience there, mostly due to the host seating our server 4 other tables besides us, all at once. He might have been a little slower than usual getting around to our table to take our order, but the food still came out fast and immediately after they cooked it. My favorite dish recently has been the Sunshine Skillet: blazing hot skillet filled with breakfast potatoes, sausage, country gravy, cheese, and topped with 2 basted eggs. It also comes with a toasted buttered English muffin on the side. I used to always order the Biscuits and Gravy meal (called the Homestead I think). A good biscuit makes or breaks that dish, and their biscuits seem home-made: fluffy, soft, and moist. The newest entre I tried, thanks to my husband ordering it, was the Chicken Fried Steak. Being a Midwest girl, I definitely have had my share of chicken fried steak in my life, and theirs is one of the best. Perfect amount of breading, nicely seasoned, and topped with gravy made from scratch. Yum!!! It might become my new favorite dish for awhile...until I try something else. And for you vegetarians out there, they have a variety of savory meatless dishes including veggie omelets, skillets, and benedicts.

If we are going out to breakfast, this is where we go. It isn't super cheap as far as breakfast places go, but you get what you pay for. Plus if you like spice then this is the place for you. I love the lumbre Sunshine skillet, it is potatoes, cheese, spicy sausage, basted eggs and...... green chili. Yep a green chili smothered dish of goodness. It is a LOT of food though so some days I just can't hang with that much in one sitting. This place has something for everyone, even a decent kid's selection.
(5)Julienne G.
Super tasty breakfast and friendly service. The early bird was my omelet of choice and I couldn't have been happier.
(4)Nicole S.
Tight squeeze in the parking lot and inside the restaurant itself. Long wait for the food , but worth it. Very tasty! Perhaps the best skillet I've ever had, and the side of French toast was so light and fluffy. Too bad this place is a little overpriced!
(3)Terri B.
For a nice place to bring your family for breakfast stop off at Sunrise Sunset. They have the best pancakes and an awesome Eggs Benedict. The wait staff is always helpful. And the Earlybird specials are good too. My church were the people that turned me on to this place.
(5)Erin A.
Great place for breakfast! I had the Country Omelet, which comes with potatoes and English muffins on the side. It was flavorful, filling, and hearty. Everything was cooked right and the portion was a great size. Very fast and friendly service. The waitress asked me multiple times if I needed anything even though my visit was short. I've been to many places that focus on breakfast, and Sunrise Sunset had the most flavorful dish with great service. If you're looking for some fast, cheap breakfast food in the Lakewood area, I recommend Sunrise Sunset!
(4)Annonymous C.
I wish I could give this place a half star, I really do! The service is okay but we have a question about a burrito they don't give it in a freaking full answer. We ask for the manager and he acts like an ass.
(1)Mao L.
My husband and I come here once a week. I love this place!! Close to home and it's not over rated like huge corporate dine in.
(5)Nora H.
I was in Lakewood this past weekend by chance and was really in need of some solid breakfast Sunday morning. Sunrise Sunset was pretty satisfactory. The little hostess gal seemed quite aloof and not really cut out for her job but she was easily no older than like, 15, so I'll overlook that I guess. Our waitress was okay, nothing special--and it took her quite a while to get around to us despite it not being overrun. I had the Southern Special which was biscuits and gravy, breakfast potatoes, an English muffin and 2 basted eggs. Yummmmmmm, it was seriously so good. Breakfast comfort food. If I were in the area again I'd totally hit up Sunrise-Sunset for breakfast!
(4)Mariza V.
To Live For! All of their dishes are supreme. My fav is their Eggs Benedicts, will fill you up with yummy yummy tummy feeling. I recommend their thick bacon benedicts, but now that I am vegetarian, their Vegetarian Benedict is amazingly diverse and satisfying. Love going to Sunrise Sunset. Check out their women's bathroom, mirrors in the small space give you the illusion of infinity. Also, two of their booths have beautiful Mexican carvings, which we take pictures and upload to Facebook, seeming to be on vacation in Mexico. Highly recommend this place for a Great Breakfast Experience.
(5)Vicki S.
We have not come to sunny side for 3 years decided to come this morning we will never come back the manager was rude prices to high and poor customer service I know why we stopped coming because of this horrible
(1)barb s.
Best pancakes in town! We have been customers here for over 25 years best breakfast place in town!
(5)Lily S.
Second time was surprisingly better! We came around 10am on a workday and they're still fairly busy. But I gotta praise the speed of our food arriving was even faster than our waitress greeting us when we first came in. The man ordered the Steak Ranchero, based on the speed, I doubht the steak was freshly fried, but they did a good job covering it up with hot green chili and warm tortilla. The sauce was a bit too spicy for my taste but the basted eggs were unbeatable (no pun intended!) What I appreciate is the fact that they use green onion in a lot of the dishes. Like in my "Day-Break" which is "Delicately scrambled eggs, lightly enhanced with cilantro, onion greens, sour cream and blended cheeses, topped with hollandaise sauce, served with a toasted English Muffin and country potatoes." My eggs were indeed delicate, fluffy, full of flavors that are not overkilling (just the right amount of cheese and hollandaise sauce, and like described, ENHANCED with the green aromatics). The temperature of the eggs was so warm I felt comforted as if having just drank some nice, hot beverage. The buttery, toasted English muffin was great when slathered on with their homemade strawberry jam. At the end, I even dipped my country potatoes in the leftover jam on my plate, just another level or sweet and savory! The only thing I wasn't too happy about was being told they couldn't sub out black beans on two of the dishes I inquired about. I'm sure they could, just our waitress not willing to do it, I guess. Oh, wait, I just re-read my previous review, I had the same issue last time - they allow no substitutions. Sigh, that alone costs one star to be subtracted from a perfect, five-star rating. They should really loosen up!
(4)Matthew J.
Food is great if a little overpriced. Their biggest flaw is they don't like to deviate from the menu. Want green chile instead of gravy on your country sunshine skillet? Will cost you an extra 2 bucks. On top of that they refuse to put the substituted chile on your food and bring it in a small side sized bowl instead for you to pour on your food. Have spoken with the staff and was told the owner wants the food made the way it's on the menu, no substitutions or modifications. The menu takes a higher priority than a happy customer which is not a recipe for success. If you order something as it is on the menu I will say the food is great and I would give it a 4 star rating. I just can't get over the fact they REFUSE to serve a dish with green chile instead of gravy because that's the way the owner wants it.
