Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

We went on Easter Sunday, only because Chipotle was closed and I had 2 teen girls that I had promised lunch to. Of course, being Easter Sunday, it wasn't exactly crawling with people, but they had enough staff working to manage a line out the door. The girls had basic pizzas - one had pepperoni and one had cheese. I had the chicken pesto pizza, which was pretty perfect. I only wish the crust was just a bit thicker. I'm not a thin crust fan. The "personal" pizzas definitely should last for two meals. The ingredients are all fresh and natural, some are organic and some are local. They are also prepared right in front of you Subway/Chipotle style and then baked. They're done in about 5 minutes. I'm not the world's biggest pizza fan, and we don't live close to one (I was working at the time), but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to someone. It's a healthier alternative to the "other" pizza places. The prices are similar to a meal at Chipotle ($8-$9 a pizza) and you can also get them to go.

I absolutely love Live Basil pizza. So many great, healthy choices and everyone there is extremely friendly! I love going here and getting quick service on my lunch breaks!

I love this place! Such a fast way to get very tasty pizza (though I never experiment past the fabulous Maui BBQ pizza). On a slow night, they'll bring the pizza to you instead of handing over a buzzer. A nice, extra human touch that I appreciate. Everyone is always friendly when I go, so I go often!
(4)Artem N.
Delicious, fresh, and made to order right in front of your eyes. Could use more cheese and a higher quality meat selection, but definitely good pizza!

We'll be back! If you're looking for a fast, inexpensive personal pizza with a thin crust and fresh toppings, Live Basil's a good choice. You can choose one of their creations, or think up your own, and into the oven it goes. Less than 5 minutes later, the crust is done to perfection and the toppings are nicely done. Haven't tried the salads yet, but they look good, too. And they have one of those touch screen soda fountains with many many drink choices.

We had a group get together (6 of us) and we were all WOWed by the pizza. We ordered 3 of the larger size pizzas and we each got to sample a slice. The dough was great, the service wonderful and super outgoing. The restaurant was really clean everywhere - eating area, line area and restrooms. We were all surprised to see they had wine and beer! The staff and managers go above and beyond to make your dining experience great. Thanks! Can't wait until my next visit - I'll be back again!

Service here is friendly. Pizza is OK. The toppings are great, the big problem is the crust! Even though the oven seems great the dough must not be since the pizza's crust ends up tasting like cardboard, Not good. The atmosphere is fine, nothing fancy, like any chain dining establishment, fine and pretty clean. Might eat here again. Just really hope the crust will be decent next time. Update: After a kind message from this establishment indicating that they were improving the crust we returned to give this place another try. The toppings were good again. There were some bubbles that formed in the crust this time (maybe thanks to the tweaked recipe) but the flavor was still not good enough for my taste. I'll probably eat there again but it's the toppings, and great service that make this place worth a visit not the crust, which forms the foundation of a great pizza. In the end still not my favorite pizza.

GREAT service and GREAT food! My husband ordered to go with Melody, who was such a doll! I walked in for pickup and had no clue what he had ordered. Cory the sweet worker was ringing me up and had asked if I had the Mediterranean Salad and I was like um, I dunno :) Melody said yes that's yours, along with this custom pizza and your husband also wanted a root beer. I was SO impressed with her professionalism. Everything was delish and we will for sure be back!! Oh and the chocolate chip cookies are to die for! Thanks

I tried the pizza here a couple of weeks ago. Others have said that it reminds them of a chopotle or subway. Your pizza maker asks what you want on the pizza, and then he or she adds the ingredients to the pizza as you move down the assembly line. The good: 1. Friendly staff- these people are friendly and polite The bad: 1. Cheese is barely detectable on your pizza. If you want cheese to cover your pizza, go somewhere else. Even if you pay for extra cheese, they act like they are passing out diamonds. 2. Ingredients are "unlimited" but getting them to put anything more than a hint of pepperoni is like pulling teeth. I told the guy three times "put on more pepperoni." They are more worried about their margin than creating the pizza that "you" want. 3. You will pay $9 for a giant, yet extremely thin crust. When they brought it out, I thought "how could I possibly eat that thing." Then I took a bite and my thought was "why would I want to eat that thing?" It has almost no taste. And then I realized that it was so thin and lacking of ingredients, that there really wasn't much to it. If you want a wafer-like crust, almost no cheese, and skimpy ingredients, this place is for you. I

First I love pizza and I mean I eat this delicious food 4 times a week at minimum so when I really like a new spot my friends always listen. Live Basil is a great choice if you like fresh ingredients and hot pie in 5 min or less. The pie is made right in front of you and allows you to have total control of the pizza making process. The pies follow more of an artisan style , not a New York style or Chicago style. They also have a nice loyalty points system that has earned me 2 free pizzas since I started to go there. Check these guys out and I bet you will be back:)
(4)Jean M.
I was impressed with the freshness of the food. I just wish the table that we sat down at would have been clean. Other than that, the food tasted good and was reasonably priced.
(4)Coley H.
Would have given 5 stars, but they forgot to add the fresh basil on our pizzas after coming out of oven. Also forgot on several others while I was waiting for mine. Better attention to these details will make it a really great place for fast, delicious, personalized pizza.
(4)Betty W.
Hands down my favorite pizza place in town. Portions are perfect, everything is made fresh, using high-quality ingredients, and their staff goes above & beyond to make you feel welcome & valued. This place has restored my hope in pizza. I LOVE Live Basil Pizza.
(5)Jen L.
I've wanted to try this place for awhile. While checking for a pizza place the other day I came across their website and saw a new location in Belmar was opening. It also advertised a free pizza with proof that you liked them on Facebook, during their opening day April 12,2014. My friend and I both liked them for our free pies. When we arrived about noon the place was busy but not overly packed. They had flyers to give a like on Facebook for a free pie. Let me just say this was a whole free pizza not just a slice. Ordering is pretty easy, just tell them what you want from the menu or build your own. They are more than happy to modify a menu item as well. When we got to the register the girl didn't need to see proof that we liked them on Facebook and gave us our free pizza and a FREE drink too. (YaY) I ordered the wild mushroom and Arugula with truffle oil. It was too die for and tasted so good. When I was done I felt pretty content. My Friend got the farmers market and she liked it. She says she can't wait to take her husband and she would get the pizza I got. They also gave out coupons for $2 off your next pizza. By the time we left the line was pretty long and there was not a place to sit, but people were out side sitting on the retaining wall basking in the sun and enjoying their pizza. Only complaint is that when you come in and wait in line it would be helpful if that was where the big menu would have been placed. Instead it is around the corner and further down past the ingredients. We did have to chase down someone for a menu while in line. Also this place does not have much for wiggle room. I.E.: Moms your strollers are in the way and you need to learn to share the main isles. All in all GREAT visit and can't wait to go back.a

(Update) I might not of had the best first experience at Live Basil, but the fact that they reached out to me to about my experience is impressive. I look forward to trying their food again one day. (Original post) Not impressed. They are very chintzy with the toppings. Ordered pepperoni and the hot one. The pepperoni barely made an appearance on either.
(3)Lauren S.
Yum! A great addition to Belmar. The ingredients were fresh and tasty. The arugula + truffle + wild mushroom pizza was delicious and filling. I'll definitely be back!
(4)Brigitte R.
Awesome food, and the people who work there are kind. I love the duo option. This is a very reasonable place to eat. The food is fresh- great garlic knots.
(5)John G.
Not a very sharp group running this place. Pizza Locale. Holds the new bar for this model. Bad wine that was served warm and skunked is a bad way to start a meal. Pizza can with just barley enough cheese to start to cover the crust and the sausage was obviously frozen our of a bag. Not great.
(2)Mitchell D.
Been here a few times! I enjoy it greatly. I prefer my pizzas a little more well done so I asked for a longer cook time! When it came out it was perfect!
(4)Hillary H.
I'm pro pizza and seriously pro free toppings, so what more could a girl ask for? In fact, I'm going there right now. Peace out, Yelp.
(5)Jackie G.
Excellent tasty crust, mouth watering tomato sauce and yummy fresh basil on top-- that's how I'd describe the Margareta pizza. Cheese was great also. I had the lunch special half pizza and salad for around 850. Got water to drink and they had fresh cut lemons by the beverage station which was an unexpected surprise. Seems the staff has a learning curve to overcome but they were super friendly, warm, and welcoming and not the fake friendly that I abhor. The caesars salad was really good also with very good parmesan shavings on top and fresh lettuce with halved cherry tomatoes. The place was very clean but I did miss that they do not have outdoor seating. Hence the 4 stars and not 5. Maybe they can add some.
(4)Rolando M.
Very delicious pizza. You build it and it's ready in 5 min. Staff is awesome. Try the stuffed bread sticks.
(5)Rosie G.
This is a favorite lunch spot for me. Their salads are all amazing and they will put Italian giardiniera on there if you ask. The Chopped salad is my favorite. They have pretty good lunch deals. The pizzas are tasty, they have a nice variety, and they will do GF dough if you ask. The fresh basil is a nice touch.

Live Basil Pizza is a chain from the same corporate parents as Quiznos and Smashburger. It's the same concept as iPIE and Pieology - order at the counter - one size - choose from a menu of predefined pies or create your own. Definitely, go with the create your own - $8.45 - make it just the way you like it. Choose from 4 sauces (red was good), 6 cheeses (fresh mozzarella was good as was the Italian cheese blend), and 25 toppings. Most of the traditional toppings are available (except anchovies! C'mon, Live Basil - bring on the fish!). They also have some less usual pizza toppings - pickled bell peppers, spicy giardiniera, marinated wild mushrooms to name a few - and be sure to add fresh basil and wild arugula when the pie comes out of the oven. Beer and wine and the new generation self-serve coke machine with a gazillion soft drink options to drink. We enjoyed our visit to Live Basil. Staff were pleasant and helpful, our orders arrived quickly and the pizzas were good. But they could be better. Could be saucier. Could be cheesier. Could slather on the various toppings more generously. Live Basil Pizza is plenty good enough that I will be back - when I'm in the Belmar area and am hungry for the build-it-yourself pizza concept. But when I'm not choosing based largely on convenience, I'll go to iPIE. Or, I'll go to Pieology. The concept is the same, but at the end of the build-it-yourself pizza counter, they're simply better.
(3)Stacy W.
Great pizza and super quick. I love the vegan options they have. We will be back for more!!
(5)Jennelle D.
Amazing flavor! For a quick good pie you can't go wrong, but build your own for sure! We had two pies a side salad and two drinks for under $30
(5)David M.
Live Basil continues to put out the best pizza in Lakewood , Colorado! Time after time this quality establishment has rewarded me with the best dining experience of the many pizza places I have tried. Hands down, try it, you'll like it! !!
(5)Lily S.
This time around, I know how to play the field a little better and created my own pie. I learned that you can have as many toppings as possible and it'd still be at $8.45 plus tax. So I went a little crazy (but not as outrageous as what the staff said they have seen) and asked for: BBQ sauce, Smoked Ham, Meatballs, Mushrooms, Roasted Garlic, Roasted Corns, Basil, and Herbed Ricotta Cheese to top it all off. The pizza came out beautiful and well proportioned (I did specify "just a little bit" for each ingredient), and it tasted great. The BBQ sauce was fantastic and combining it with ricotta cheese while having all the other ingredients in between was something new and exciting for me. I'm already starting to think about my next creation!

I am sooo glad to have this in our area. While definitely worth the drive clear over to the Hampden location, we didn't go very often because really, that is quite the drive for us. But now that it's closer, we'll be enjoying more often. I was fortunate enough to attending their hosted Community Manager Event before their official opening. They were very generous with the pies that night. I also stopped in the day they were doing free pizza (for a cause), and despite having a line out the door (pretty much all day from what I heard), everyone was still friendly and "on" when I went through. The Dude and I have been in for a quick weekend lunch. It's always hard deciding between one of their pre-combo'd pies, or building my own. I'm not a huge arugula fan (in fact I don't really like it at all, haha), so subbing out spinach instead on their Mushroom+Truffle pie is probably the best pizza decision I've ever made. If you're not an arugula fan, definitely give it a chance with spinach. And even with arugula it's not terrible (heh). Pro tip: eat the whole truffle pie (not like that's difficult), otherwise the leftovers will cause your fridge to smell like truffle for a week after (true story). I only wish they'd put more than one leaf of basil per slice on their Margherita. Still, Live Basil in Lakewood: so great we have such a tasty pizza option so close by. And so great I teach indoor cycling classes and have stretchy pants! Woo hoo!

So I have heard alot of good things about Live Basil from the Denver Yelping community. I must admit that usually anywhere there is a Yelp Elite Event usually comes away with at least a half dozen 5 Star reviews. Live Basil seems to fit this trend. I ventured over to the Lakewood location on my lunch break yesterday as I work in the Belmar area. First impression = Subway of pizza. Walk through ordering style with a view of the "fresh" Ingredients all collectively chilling out in their lexan containers all exposed to open air on the prep table. Live Basil does offer a nice variety of topping choices/ingredients making the custom made pizza experience oddly similar to a sandwich shop again. Friendly helpful service from "pizza artist" (see what I'm doing there?) The no frills ordering experience concludes at the register. I did have to chuckle at the "give us an outstanding Yelp review and receive a coupon for your next visit" sign. Well I'm not too impressed so maybe I won't recieve those coupons. Pizza did arrive in a about 5 mins. Tasty but nothing too special. I had a white sauce pizza made with Italian Meatball and Greek Olives. I would've been very happy paying $5 for my pizza. My lunch break cost me twice that much however. Am I displeased? No Disappointed? Yes Perhaps I was expecting something a lot more special? I dunno. Is Live Basil on the level of Fat Sulley's ?? Certainly Not. Will I try Live Basil again/ recommend to my friends? yes

I really enjoyed my first visit here. It was very pleasant to be able to direct the creation of my own pizza. I was quite pleased with the flavor of the ingredients overall, and especially for the price. The basil itself was delightful - not overpowering like some can be. My favorite part is that I got the wonderful taste of pizza without the usual bellyache that follows, because the ingredients are fresh and the dough is light. My husband had the lunch special with a half pizza and a salad, and he enjoyed it. We will definitely be returning.
(4)Mari C.
Totally fresh and the kids loved it. We will be back to try it again. PLUS: Crust ask for fresh basil
(4)Stephanie D.
I come from the east coast where they have a similar concept in &pizza and &pizza is so much better, because you can actually have a choice between a whole grain or white flour crust. At live basil, there's no whole grain crust option, just the gluten free option. And I would have liked to have more selection with the vegetable toppings. The pizza tasted allright, wasn't burnt, the ingredients I selected mixed well together, but I wasn't impressed.
(3)Ashleigh W.
It tastes fresh. This is no Little Ceasars. This is delicious. Also, I don't know her name, but the lady with the pink hair is awesome and so nice. If she isn't already a manager, she should be. She's super helpful.
(5)Sarah Q.
I was at the Noodles & Company next door yesterday & saw Live Basil, and was wondering how it was. Ironically, when I was driving in the car today, I had my radio on & a commercial for free pizza at Live Basil today only came on. Of course, I decided to give it a try. It was great! The crust was the perfect consistency, & the ingredients seemed super fresh. (It didn't hurt that the restaurant was giving away completely free, 10-inch pizzas & fountain drinks to all their customers today, either!) They had a pretty decent menu, & the prices were good. What makes me rate this place high is the fact that the chain only accepted donations today for a homeless shelter, & then is matching the donation. Gotta love places that give back! Will definitely come here again.
(5)Jamie B.
I had high expectations since I went for the Yelp event before they opened, but my first time as a paying customer was a little disappointing. The service was nice, but not very professional and was disorganized. I had a feeling they were going to forget to put the live basil on my pizzas so I went to double check and sure enough they didn't know which pizzas were to get the basil so I'm glad I checked. While we were waiting, they forgot another customer's toppings too so it didn't seem like it was a one off occurrence. I also wanted a glass of wine and they were totally out of alcohol "except for 2 Mickeys." The pizza is tasty so I'm not willing to give up yet, I'll still give it another try.
(2)carri b.
Finally tried Live Basil Pizza. I ordered the BBQ pizza and albeit hot, fresh, and tasty it's much too expensive for the size and quality of the actual pizza. With tax it came to 50 cents shy of 10 bucks!
(3)R R.
The crust is boring and tasteless. Service was good in Belmar but the food is mediocre. It tastes like fast food for the masses. My husband and I each got different pizzas - me the Farmhouse and my husband the Hawaiian. Mine had very little taste despite all the toppings and my husband said really only the BBQ sauce on his had any flavor. Pizzeria Locale is SO much better!
(2)Alaina B.
I have been to the Denver Live Basil Pizza location on Colorado Ave. and loved it.. the pizza was great and the service was super friendly. However I can't give the Lakewood location a good review because I never got to try their food. I walked in during dinner hour on Sunday to grab a quick bite, and there was nobody there... not even an employee at the register. I waited, wandered to the back, called for somebody politely... nothing. Finally after 5 minutes I went next door to Chipotle. One star for service.

Great pizza, tastes very fresh. The beer choices are excellent, love Peroni, nothing better than an Italian Beer with pizza. The staff is excellent, and the girl with the pink hair rocks.
(5)Rosalinda P.
1st time we came we had to wait for a hr for pizza&No beer, so decided to give it a other chance , they had No beer I should say( No good beer) again, only something called mickeys, No hard cider, really who runs a pizza joint without beer? .dont think Ill be comming back. & The cashier was rude.

My husband had the lunch special with a half pizza and a salad, and he enjoyed it. We will definitely be returning.

Totally fresh and the kids loved it. We will be back to try it again. PLUS: Crust ask for fresh basil

I was impressed with the freshness of the food. I just wish the table that we sat down at would have been clean. Other than that, the food tasted good and was reasonably priced.

Not a very sharp group running this place. Pizza Locale. Holds the new bar for this model. Bad wine that was served warm and skunked is a bad way to start a meal. Pizza can with just barley enough cheese to start to cover the crust and the sausage was obviously frozen our of a bag. Not great.

Been here a few times! I enjoy it greatly. I prefer my pizzas a little more well done so I asked for a longer cook time! When it came out it was perfect!

I'm pro pizza and seriously pro free toppings, so what more could a girl ask for? In fact, I'm going there right now. Peace out, Yelp.

It tastes fresh. This is no Little Ceasars. This is delicious. Also, I don't know her name, but the lady with the pink hair is awesome and so nice. If she isn't already a manager, she should be. She's super helpful.

Finally tried Live Basil Pizza. I ordered the BBQ pizza and albeit hot, fresh, and tasty it's much too expensive for the size and quality of the actual pizza. With tax it came to 50 cents shy of 10 bucks!
