Chinese Cuisine
The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.
Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.

More of 4.5 stars 5 stars for the food 2 stars for the restaurant itself and the under brewed iced tea Absolutely love the crab meat cheese wontons, crispy tofu stuffed shrimp, fried shrimp, chicken fried rice and pad thai. All of these are the best I've ever eaten. Thinking about this food makes me happy.

Thank you yelp for helping me discover another hidden gem! This place has been tucked into the back side of this low key, off the main road business center for 20 years!? The exterior and interior are by no means eye catching or showy, it's very dated and basic but these fine folks let their food do all of the talking. We started off with the pork sesame pockets and hot and sour dumpling soup. The sesame pockets were awesome, very unique & wonderfully tasty, so good. The soup was different than any other hot and sour we've had but loved it also, the pork dumplings inside the soup were a nice addition. We all had different entrees so I got to sample them all. Sesame chicken, happy family, sizzling tenderloin black pepper beef, it was all well seasoned & very tasty. No complaints from anyone. We have all lived in this area 15-20 years between all of us and have driven right passed this place without knowing, that won't happen again. Well done!!

Once upon a time, many many moons ago there was a restaurant called "Jin Han", an amazing Chinese food experience that I visited since before my birth till the restaurants sad closing so the family could move back to China. The owner, Jerry, obviously his true name, remembered everyone in my family across more than 30 years of patronage. I explain this to lend weight to this statement. The Golden Plate 2 is the first Chinese restaurant I've found in over five years of searching that measures up to my expectations. The Volcano Steak is extremely tender with a great BBQ flavor, plus who doesn't love something flambéed. The Lo Mein, and Fried Rice and excellent. The Sesame Pocket is a wonderful little appetizer. Crispy shrimp with honey walnuts is a semi sweet shrimp delight. Damn I'm hungry now... Thanks yelp. I can't wait to go back.

Awesome! I'm not a huge fan of Chinese food, but I would eat those Sesame Pork pockets everyday! A friend saw great reviews on yelp and invited hubby and I to check it out. I'm so glad we went along. It's a hard to find little gem in Lakewood, but so worth it when you do. The owners are quiet, but very polite. We will definitely be back!

Almost 20 years in the same location, hidden off Kipling and US 285/ behind the auto body shop. Great family run tradition. Pretty low on ambiance but the food, service, and owner contact is so personal. M had the Volcano steak and I had a Shanghi fish stew.

Great food. Definitely try out the sesame pockets, they are a must! Twice cooked pork is my go to meal for lunch and dinner.
(5)Bernie B.
Not impressed. Had crispy honey shrimp and it just tasted like they put a spoon full of mayonnaise on it for sauce.

Hole-in-the-wall, off-the-beaten-path, diamond-in-the-rough, insert-your-hyphenated-cliche-here to describe Golden Plate II. I cannot imagine a more unlikely place to find a restaurant that will gobsmack you with some delicious Chinese food. But here--not only in the middle of nowhere Lakewood, but two blocks AWAY from the middle of nowhere Lakewood, buried at the back of an anonymous retail strip--stands the Golden Plate II. Why there, where no one will ever find it? I don't know. Why II? Why not? Nothing else really makes sense here except for their way of making Chinese food. Golden Plate II is a friendly family-run place that serves the usual lunchtime specials like Orange Chicken, pad thai, and beef and broccoli, which one would be wise to avoid. Instead, ask for the dinner menu, and order from the authentic chinese dishes like stir-fried rice cakes, seafood and fried noodles, scallion pancakes, and the sesame pockets with pork hash. The sesame pockets were lauded by Westword and other Yelpers, and rightfully so. The pockets (shau bing) are handrolled and freshly baked, so they come out with the flaky crisp outsides and the pillowy softness inside that one looks for in a perfect pocket. And the meat filling is delicious hand-minced pork with some chives and a little spicy soy bean sauce. Wow, hands down the best Sesame Pocket in town. But it was the green beans with pork hash I was served that really exemplified what Golden Plate II is really all about. First of all, they were a little burned--left on the bottom of the wok a little too long, so they got scorched on one side. So it was a bit flawed in execution, but through the error revealed the secret behind the cooking. In those scorched green beans was the unmistakable essence of the wok, the smoke of the flame and the iron of the metal wok, a wok that has been cured to perfection by intense flame heat year after year and the caramelization of oils and sauces of thousands of meals that have crossed its blackened core. You can literally taste the wok in those green beans. And that's what makes Golden Plate II a truly special meal.

I was very pleasantly surprised by Golden Plate! It sits in an unassuming strip mall off Kipling, I'm not sure how you'd find it by accident. It's a bit dingy inside with low lighting but it seemed clean enough. I ordered the sesame pockets as an appetizer and they're really really good! The sau bing are flaky and hot and the pork filling has a balanced flavor. I had the pan fried noodles for my entree. They were crispy and the sauce wasn't heavy or greasy like other places. Oh and the price is right! I'd come back again for sure if I'm in the area

We ordered take out and the sesame pockets were amazing. Would go back agagin and again for the sesame pockets. The panang curry was also very good however had move of a variety of vegetables than I am normally use to for panang. The place is very unappealing from the outside but the food is worth it!

I will upgrade soon, after my next visit. Which I hope is soon. Came here late-ish on Sunday (745p) and my friend and I both ordered the war wonton soup (mmmm... soup) and an order of the chicken sesame pockets (sao bing) to share. OMG. The sesame pockets are really flaky and crispy and... delicious. Then fill it with the minced chicken hash, and it's divine. I think next time I will want to just order some of their sesame pockets to go so I can make breakfast sandwiches with them the next morning. Imagine these flaky pita-like but way better pockets stuffed full of egg and cheese. With bacon. Oops, I digress. The war wonton soup was a good portion (neither of us finished) and the broth was very flavorful. A good soup for the less adventurous eaters. Next time I want to try the hot and sour dumpling soup. Or the pan fried noodles. Or the string beans with hash. Or... you get the idea. Service was pretty attentive and friendly. Yes, yes, ambience is not their strong suit, but I don't care about ambience if the food is authentic and tasty.

So far the best Chinese I have been able to find (comparing to the amazing Chinese food on the east coast). As many of the other yelpers mentioned, the sesame pockets are delicious! I will go back just for that!

I went to Golden Plate II a few weeks ago for lunch and was a little concerned when I walked in. It was at the peak of lunchtime, yet the restaurant was completely empty, no staff in sight although there was a bell on the door. We sat down and waited a couple minutes before someone came to our table. It turns out my concerns were for naught because the rest of my experience was wonderful. The food was delicious; we started with the sesame pockets as they had such rave reviews on Yelp. I have never had these before, but they were great. The pockets were hot and flaky and the meat was flavorful. I also had the szechuan beef, which had a rich flavor and was tender. The kitchen takes care in plating and molds the rice, which was a nice touch. The service was efficient, the food fairly priced, and the decor nice and inviting. I would definitely return to Golden Plate II and recommend it to others.

I've had the Walnut Chicken, sweet and sour chicken, chicken lo mein, General Tsos chicken, and today I got the Orange beef. This place is very close to me to I wanted to like it but I can't go back now. The Orange beef was huge , I mean big big, slice chunks of slimy chewy goo that just coudnt be eaten. Freaking disgusting!!! I'm over it. I think they really have no real training in cooking. Just skip it. The walnut chicken isn't bad. The lo mein was blah at best. And that's about the extent of the compliments that I have.

My boyfriend had been coming here for years and I know why now. The food is phenomenal! I got the Happy Family and I was very happy with it indeed. Shrimp, chicken, beef and mixed veggies. Perfect! Our meals were out within 15 minutes of ordering and it tasted exceptionally delicious. This place is a hidden gem. Speedy service, not crowded, very tasty food, friendly staff. I would recommend this place to random strangers on the street.
(5)Sarah B.
I come here often for the outstanding sesame pockets and hot and sour soup. The food is good, inexpensive and the service is quick! My favorite Chinese place in lakewood.
(4)Mark O.
This is a nice little hidden treasure tucked away in a derelict looking shopping center. Most of the other businesses in the complex have been shuttered, except for the "convenience store" that looks like it came straight out of inner-city Chicago. A very nice older Asian woman waited on me and truly seemed to appreciate the people that came in through the doors. For $7, I had a very large plate of Szechuan chicken, fried rice, an egg roll, hot & sour soup, and hot tea. There were lots of vegetables, many which had been cut fresh. There were whole pieces of green onion in the dish, unlike the tiny scallions most places use. There was a perfect balance of spiciness in both the soup and the entree. The only disappointment was the fried rice depicted in the menu picture was a pork fried rice using yellow rice. The fried rice that came out was the standard with egg mixed in (no veggies). I'll stick to steamed next time, but if you're in the area, definitely give Golden Plate II a try.

Had the family dinner. Egg drop soup, crab wontons, kung pao chicken, and general tso's chicken were all really good. Nice, friendly service.
(4)Lily S.
My favorite place for authentic Chinese in this town! And it's homemade style. Make sure to get the Sesame Pockets, either Chicken or Pork is wonderful, the best of its kind. Scallion pancakes are yummy too! Other long time favorites are the Shanghai rice cakes, String beans, pan-fried noodles and walnut shrimps. You can probably get better potstickers and noodle soups somewhere else though.
(5)Eden R.
Meh. We did takeout. Hot & Sour soup didn't have a lot of taste, neither did the Happy Family. My other half said the egg drop soup was good and liked the sweet and sour chicken. The Crab Cheese Wontons were yummy.

We usually go to this place when we are together with our Mom, who lives in Littleton (off Belleview and Wadsworth). Conveniently close by, staff is always very friendly and we have a few favorites: * Sesame eggplant: always juicy big pieces of eggplant lightly deep-fried and doused in their sesame sauce...yum! Not on the menu but they always make it for my mom. * Singapore House Noodles: crunchy noodles that you cover with meat choice or just veggies...the mild sauce softens the noodles and it is very tasty, one of our regular menu items. Plenty of veggies! * Sizzling Rice Soup: best when eaten at restaurant since the soup is hot and then the rice is good...great soup with tons of veggies, chicken and shrimp. Also one of our regular menu items. We've also tried the Pad Thai, Sizzling Beef Platter and other dishes and always been pleased with the flavors. The bottomless tea is also nice. It's a small place in a not so nice looking strip mall kind of location, hidden away, but I would recommend trying it at least once!

Three stars food was mediocre, however I am picky about sesame chicken. Service was quick and friendly I just expected a better quality of food.

No relations to any other Golden Plates around Colorado. The one and only owned by this Cantonese couple. Being of Chinese descent myself, I'm very picky when it comes to Chinese food in America. Most places are too greasy, too sweet, too salty... and more "American" than Chinese. This place is literally "As good as it gets!" per the star rating from Yelp. A friend introduced me to it a couple of years ago and she lives in Boulder County. She would make the drive all the way down here a few times a year just so she can have amazing Chinese food at a reasonable price that leaves your stomach happy after the fact. I don't know about you, but some other Chinese restaurants would make my tummy turn after eating their food.... Not this place. I would drive down from Westminster about once every quarter to grub. It's sooooo yummy! The decor, however, is typical of Chinese restaurants... She told me not to Yelp about it because she didn't want it to get super busy... but I figure if they would get busier, they'd stay in business forever! Which is my plan. Sharing is caring. :) On to the food..... First of all, around $3 for a bottled Tsingtao to start. What a deal! The following are the food you definitely need to try.... - Crispy Tofu Stuffed with Shrimp - Almost silken tofu with very light egg white batter. Be careful on the first bite because the tofu absorbs the temperature during frying and you will burn yourself if you are not careful. The sauce is amazing and I usually would save it for the next item. The chili in the sauce is not very spicy so don't worry if you had a little. - Sesame Pockets with Pork Hash - This is by far THE BEST appetizer ever! You can also get it lettuce wrap style instead of the sesame pockets. But at least try the sesame pockets first. Go with pork since I felt it holds the flavor better. The chef created this himself with 30 years of cooking experience and modified it to make it super delicious! If you have any sauce left from the Crispy Tofu, drizzle some over the pork hash after you stuffed your sesame pockets. I seriously have dreams about this place because of the pockets.... - Stir-Fried String Beans with Pork Hash - Same pork hash for the pockets is used as flavoring for the string beans. If they're out of beans sometimes they'll offer to sub asparagus... equally delicious! - Pan-Fried Seafood Noodle - Unlike anywhere else, like the picture I uploaded, this place uses a very fine pan-fried noodle under the saucy seafood stir-fry. Other places use greasy lo-mein noodles and the flavor is just not as good. Seafood consist of white fish, shrimp, scallops, squid/calamari and imitation crabs. Around the edges of the noodle is crispy and as the sauce soften the noodle it just gets tender. I don't usually order Cantonese food like this because of bad greasy experience from other places but this place makes it all better. - Shanghai Style Rice Cake with Pork Loin - If you would like to try something new, the rice cake is great! Chewy but not hard, it's stir-fried with veggies and pork slices. I just tried this a few nights ago and this will also be ordered regularly by me. :) If you just want a few things to try, definitely get the Pan-Fried Seafood Noodle (or you can do just all shrimp) and also the sesame pockets. I know for a lot of Yelpers they might not want to commute too far but this place is definitely worth the drive. Try it once and you'll be addicted!

I love this chinese food. I drive 2minutes out of my way to get the food. I absolutely LOVE the pork sesame pockets - I crave them!!! I've also enjoye0

Was out this direction for a business lunch and we decided to give it a try based on the Yelp reviews. I have to say, the lunch specials are nice! There's quite a variety of options available for $6.95 and that includes soup, an egg roll, and your choice of fried or steamed rice. I opted to go for the kung po combination (chicken, beef, and shrimp). Yummy! And, it was a good portion - enough to fill me up without resulting in leftovers.
(4)Margaret L.
First you should know that Chinese food is only my favorite if it is Dim Sum. I had to try the Sesame Pockets based on the reviews and found then to be sub optimal. The pockets were doughy and the filling was oily and mainly tasted like soy sauce. I started with the hot and sour soup which was only fair. I doubt if I will come back, but may recommend to friends who like Chinese food. It is close.
(3)Yu Z.
I absolutely love the sesame pocket pork hash! The fried rice is good too! I will definitely come here often.
(5)Aaron B.
I just ate at the Golden Plate II tonight. The food was good, and the staff friendly. I am a business traveler (they take AMEX yeah!) and I did find the complete lack of a combo plate a bummer. I ordered the sesame chicken (a la cart) and it came out with only a small bowl of white rice. It would be nice if they offered a combo plate for singles. But over all good food for the price.
(3)Kate G.
I just broke a loooong bad pad thai streak! The pad thai and penang curry I recently ate here topped everything I've had since moving to Denver. Definitely didn't expect that at this Chinese restaurant tucked away in a strip mall in Lakewood. I also sampled the crab wontons, a few bites of Kung Pao shrimp and sesame chicken that were perfectly spiced, delicious and inexpensive. My favorite part of all these dishes was the variety and quality of veggies on the side. No half-assed frozen mushy stir-fry mix here. The staff were friendly and knew how to stay in tune with the needs of a somewhat picky big group without being overbearing. Great hot tea and pretty decent imported wine and beer selection. I'm bummed this is so far from my house because I'm not often in this neighborhood and I would love to have this place on my speed-dial for delivery.
(4)Taylor S.
We have been going to Golden Plate for as long as we can remember. Great food and cute little old Chinese couple that owns it. This is NOT the place to go if you are looking for an upscale dining experience. It is a hole in the wall - literally. : ) They do not deliver, but do dine in and carry out. Over the years and years we have been eating here, they have never gotten our order wrong and always treat us with prompt, courteous service. Great Chinese food as well. Would recommend as your "go to" for takeout!
(5)Zac T.
This place gets better every time I eat here!!!
(5)Young B.
Has great american chinese food at a great price, especially for lunch! Soup, fried rice, sesame chicken, and an egg roll for around six or seven dollars is a good deal!
(5)Jodi C.
Delicious! We tried the sesame pockets appetizer and they were as good as everyone said. We also had the walnut shrimp and the green bean pork hash. Everything was so good, fresh, and tasty. This is truly authentic. All the other restaurant patrons were speaking Chinese.
(5)Bryan M.
Christmas day and no where to go... they were open and I am happy! I had the Drunken Noodles, vegetarian-style. Nice! Hot and sour soup was pretty yummy and the price was good all around. Great service!
(3)Gabrielle S.
Best little hole in the wall ever! I love this place!! Orange chicken and Mongolian beef are two of my favorite dinners, with the sesame pockets as an app. The staff is so great. I love coming here and am NEVER disappointed!
(5)Hannah M.
I used to go here all the time in high school because the food is great and not expensive! Their sesame chicken is amazing, great egg rolls but not amazing won tons. They have a great variety of delicious food for being such a little restaurant and their dinner plates are the best!! Their duck is by far the best I have had in a takeout place like this, but you have to order ahead one day for it. Great food and kind people!
(5)Allen T.
This place has been open for at least over 10 years and I have been a fan of their food for over 10 years as well. They have very authentic Chinese (mostly Cantonese) food. My favorite is their sesame pockets (Yum!) and unfortunately, the location of this restaurant is not really close for some Chinese-food-craved yelpers to visit and enjoy. A must visit place if you really crave for authentic Chinese/Cantonese food!
(4)Lynn G.
My husband and I tried this restaurant tonight after reading the good reviews. We were surprised to find that it did not offer many of the items you might find at other Chinese restaurants...such as Pu-Pu Platter, Chicken Fingers, Spare Ribs, etc. The food that we did have was good, but we found it very bland, even the Hot and Sour Soup. The Egg Rolls were not Egg Rolls at all, but Spring Rolls, and not very good. The Shrimp with Cashew Nuts was very good, as well as the Shrimp Egg Foo Yung. The service was good, but I doubt that we will be back.
(3)James M.
Just another Chinese takeout joint. Go to Peking Tokyo Express at Wadsworth and 285 if you're in the area.
(2)Jessica B.
This is the only chinese food I will eat. I hate all other Chinese food. But I simply can't resist their hot and sour dumpling soup and chicken sesame pockets. They are to die for. We drive 50 miles from Douglas County just to eat here! YUM!!!
