Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

I was pretty skeptical after reading the reviews on Yelp, and as I am a food snob....But my client wanted to go there and it was convenient. I had the Italian stand by meal of lasagna, salad and Minestrone. The side salad was fine, the minestrone was fair and the Lasagna was fair. Specifically, the Lasagna needed more Rosemary in the sauce and more cheese on top.....The sauce volume was not overwhelming, but it needed more flavor. Good service and quaint setting.....My clients pie looked good, but I didn't sample it.

I have been eating here since I was born. so I love this place!!! it is always great!!! they have the best homemade spaghetti hands down!!! I am in love with their sauce. the Stromboli's are the best I have ever had and compare others to these. the pizza dough is fresh hand hand rolled! I can't say enough about this place and go there or get take out (I am way outside the delivery area) at least once a month. it is amazeballs!!!!!
(5)Michael D.
I was told about this place by a friend who raved about the calzone (Stromboli). Hugh let down!!! I may have went in with supper high expectation; but I was very disappointed. I would of rather went to old Chicago. I went here because I was told the sausage was amazing and probably from the Italian deli next door, it was not amazing and if that's the sausage next door has;I want none of it. It tasted like a boiled link. If you want to know what amazing sausage taste like try the crumble sausage on a Tony P's pizza now that's amazing sausage. My wife had the manicotti and it was BAD!!! Since when is ricotta cheese straight from the tub from walmart and stuffed in a boiled half falling apart shell good enough to be call manicotti. Interior was very dated early 80's "plastic plant vibe", much like the average age of the patrons (60's and annoyed with kids). Very much old suburbia lakewood. I will not be back.
(1)Bonnie S.
I went for lunch..a meatball sub. It was good...not great, certainly not bad. Service was good...same thing, not great, but certainly not bad. I would go again at night with the family and try the pizza.
(3)Jack J.
It isn't exactly award winning food, but it is good nonetheless and the staff does an excellent job of making you feel welcome. I like the fact that it's tiny and tucked away. I think it's worth a try if you've never been, even if there is better italian food in lakewood. Prices are very reasonable.
(4)Becky Z.
The prices are a couple dollars higher than they should be for what you get. My daughter had the cheese ravioli. It came out cold. My Fetta Alfredo was okay, but nothing special at all. Very bland and boring, very little sauce. It was lacking. Getting our waitresses attention was hard. The three waitresses were standing near the window where the food came out but were talking, joking and goofing around. Finally one of the other waitresses noticed my attempts to get some attention and sent our waitress over. I had to do that a second time in order to actually pay and leave. Her tip reflected her lack of caring.

If you're into pizza and want a family made pie give this place a swing. This place has some history in my family. As two of my uncles and my dad all worked here growing up. Tony Garramone is a great guy and very joyful. Brings me back to my days in Napoli. A favorite of mine is the Chicken and Jalapeno. I agree with Rachel, 5 for food and 5 for service. Note: Garramones started at Pietras Pizza.
(5)Kimberly T.
Awesome local restaurant, Nikki, Ronnie and Julie always make you feel right at home.

I love this place. I went once when I was a teenager with my dad and had the homemade spaghetti which was amazing. Then, a couple weeks ago I went back with my family and my boyfriend for Sunday lunch and we got pizza which was also amazing. My parents and sister love this place and go whenever they have an excuse to. My boyfriend, who has lived in Lakewood pretty much all his life had never been and didn't even know it existed, but he loved it too. I would love to go back with him and make him try something other than the pizza. They make all their sausage and pasta and you can tell. It's worth a try for sure. Plus I've never gone there and had a bad experience with a waiter and I haven't heard anything like that from my parents either who go more often than I do. The review is missing a star because I sat down excited to try their sweet tea my sister said was just like the sweet tea we enjoy in the south and when we asked for some, they didn't have any. Will try again next time.

We went here for the first time today. We live close, and had never heard of it. Now I know why. The place was dead for dinner on Sunday. We were waited on promptly, which was great! When the soup came, it was obviously from a can and gross. The salad was iceburg and tomatoes, which were old. My boyfriend ordered a baked dish, which takes longer, but when our food came out his was hot, and mine was iced cold. I sent it back, and our waitress had to ask the kitchen four times to heat it back up. These are just the highlights. We will not be back, which is a shame because we live to support small businesses.
(1)John S.
The food is ok, definitely nothing special. The service horrible. I wouldn't return based on the service alone. Waited to order, waited for the food, and surprisingly I wanted for the check...If you have time to kill this is the place for you.
(2)Teri Z.
LOVE Garramone's! Whether the pizza, minestrone soup, spaghetti, veal Parmesan, I've yet to be disappointed. So good in fact, we order a tray of lasagne to take with us when we go to the mountains for the weekend.
(5)Jeff W.
I like Garramone's because its tucked away and seems to have a healthy stream of regulars. I'm always in the search for locally owned Italian restaurants, but haven't found anything amazing. I've had their baked pastas a couple times, and they are rich, cheesy, and delicious. Their pizza are not bad either. All their entrees are served with a soup and salad, which are not great, so I usually order a la carte. I had their breadsticks last time as well, but they did not blow me away. Their wings are great, hot and juicy. The service is ok - I've had some good and not so attentive waiters. Dinner is a great deal if you can track down a coupon. I like to go every few months because I know exactly what to expect. Definitely give it a try for yourself.
(3)William F.
I love the homemade spaghetti with marinara as well as the pizzas. The sauce is just right for my tastes, well seasoned but not overpowering.
(4)Rachel D.
Food-5 Service-5 Wow what a great place! I just got back from my Friday lunch at Garramone's. I never knew the place was there but we went because we had a coupon for 2 for 1 entrees. The waitress was great - the coupon said the value was up to $6.95 but they let us order meals that were (a little) more expensive and still gave us the discount. It was wonderful service all around. I had the stromboli which looked no different than a calzone to me. The crust was flaky and delicious. They make their own sausage & meatballs so I ordered one with cheese, green chili & sausage. It was really good. The red sauce - such a deal maker or breaker for me - was fantastic. The oregano was a very obvious flavor and it had a little tiny kick. The meals did not come with any side dish but it was enough to fill me up. Dessert time. Due to the approaching holiday, I got a special treat - pumpkin cheesecake. Every part of the cheesecake was absolutely delicious. Overall, I thought the restaurant was fantastic.
(5)Karl C.
It was O.K. Some friends and I went for dinner on a saturday nite. The place is very small, extremely nice staff though. I love pizza so... I tried the cheese pizza. Very good pizza sauce but I wasn't impressed. the crust was doughy/rough and there was not enough cheese. I've had better frozen pizza's. I can't believe this is "world class pizza". The sandwich's were good, great bread.
(2)J K.
Very mediocre. Greasy food and bored-looking staff. Seems as if their food is frozen/store bought, and then reheated and left under lights somewhere in the back. Seriously, the Stouffer's meals from the grocery store taste better. Seems like the other folks on Yelp have had a better experience, but I won't be back to try again. Fool me once!
(1)Steve F.
Great Italian sausage sandwich. Best I've found in Lakewood
(4)Lisa O.
The food is solid like something slightly better than my mom makes. And my mom takes classic Italian food and Americanizes it just a bit. If you are hungering for Italian in Lakewood Cafe Jordano is a better for a little bit more cash.
(2)Katie B.
I have been going to Garramone's for years with my family. They have great food, friendly service, and reasonable prices. Their Italian dinners run between $10-$15, but include iced tea or coffee, soup, salad, and bread. I usually order the eggplant parmesan, which is fantastic. The eggplant is nice and crispy and there is plenty of melted cheese. The pizzas and canolis are both delicious as well. I have always had quick, friendly service. Baked dinners take longer than others to prepare, but with both soup and salad prior to the meal, the wait is fairly short. The restaurant is fairly small so it is not ideal for large groups, but definitely a good place for a night out with the family or a small group of friends.
(4)Tim V.
Horrible cold pizza waited a hour for what was the coldest worst pizza I have gotten big daddy's pizza or 7/11 pizza is better do not order from them
(1)Thom R.
Truly an unfortunate excuse for an Italian restaurant. I have no idea where the 3 star reviews came from....
(1)Kate G.
Always great food and service. Been going here since my family moved to this area and have always had great meals and service. You should also try their sister restaurant Pietras on 44th and field in Arvada
(5)Justin S.
Expensive for what tastes like a frozen pizza. Nothing special about it at all. Iceburg lettuce and tomatoes alone, do not a salad make.
(1)Brenda S.
By far my favorite Italian place!! It was a party in my mouth! Love the eggplant..diablo sauce. So yummy.. I haven't had anything bad here....the place looks like it could use a remodel and sometimes the staff is a lil slow..but our overall experience was great..looking forward to Friday date nights here
(5)Bradley James R.
This place is pathetic. Il start with the things that don't involve the food. First off the servers wear their pajamas to work it's straight offensive. The joint looks like it hasn't been vacuumed since they opened the doors in 1982 or whenever this place began it's miserable life. Server was an amateur at best, forgetting to take my girlfriends drink order after I said if have water. They put these hideous fake flowers on the table to act like their doing us a favor dining with them . First the soup and salad come out . Salad is brown romaine topped with processed pepperoni slices, a torn up Kraft single, and drenched in some terrible dressing. Soup was a minestrone that made Campbell's look like 5 star cuisine . Straight mush. Next the main course, oh my god. Kroger pasta with some sloppy sauce that tasted similar to ketchup. On top were 2 microwaved sausage logs. This joint is disgusting. Food was like warm. Get a soda to wash this place down if you eat there, if give it no stars if I could.
